You Can’t Follow Jesus Without This
Following Jesus was never supposed to be something you accomplished through willpower, religious effort, or simply trying harder. Jesus said that apart from Him, we can do nothing, which means the life of a disciple is only possible through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not merely an emotion, an influence, or something reserved for a select group of Christians. He is the Spirit of God, promised by Jesus and given to everyone who belongs to Him.
In this message, Trevor traces the work of the Holy Spirit from Genesis to Pentecost and shows how the same Spirit who hovered over chaos, empowered Bezalel’s work, gave Gideon courage, strengthened Samson, and enabled David to face Goliath now lives within believers. Whether you need courage for an overwhelming responsibility, strength to face a giant, wisdom in your work, freedom from your past, or help becoming more like Jesus, you were never meant to do it alone. Discover what it means to be led by the Spirit, stay in step with the Spirit, and follow Jesus with the power God has already made available to you.
Music Heavenly Father, we thank you tonight for all your blessings, you said in all things give thanks. So we want to thank you tonight for these mighty machines that you brought before us. Thank you for the Dodges and the Toyotas. Thank you for the Fords, and most of all we thank you for Roush and Yates Partnering to give us the power that we see before us tonight. Thank you for GM Performance Technology and the R07 engines. Thank you for Sunoco Racing Fuel and Goodyear tires that bring performance and power to the track. Lord, I want to thank you for my smoking hot wife tonight, Lisa. My two children, Eli and Emma, or as we like to call them, the little E's. Lord, I pray you bless the drivers that used them tonight. May they put on a performance worthy of this great track. In Jesus' name, boogity, boogity, boogity, amen. Music What it is, what it ain't. It's time to put another one in now. Living in a van down by the river. Hey yo, with a tear in my eye. It's time. Alright, alright, let's get it. As Young Jeezy would say, what it is, what it ain't. Welcome to another one being put in that Pando app bank, baby. My name is Trevor. I am with a small church here in Northeast Florida named Champion Church who has an amazing, that includes all of you, all of them ladies and gents. An amazing DOC family all over the U.S. and all 50 states from down here in Florida all the way to California. All the way up to Oregon. All the way up to Alaska. And then come on down to Montana. Maybe a little South Dakota. Maybe you're in Maine.
Maybe you're in North Kakalake. Maybe you are in Virginia. Maybe you're down in Arkansas. Wherever it might be. I'm so glad that you're a part of what we're doing here. And if you have not subscribed to the channel, what are you doing? What are you doing? You're missing out. You're missing out, man. So anyhow, yes, we're a small local church here in Northeast Florida who has a heart to help you champion every season of your life. Wherever you are, wherever you're sitting at right now, even behind bars, whether you're in a prison, you're in a work camp, you're in a faith-based camp. Maybe you're in a jail. Whatever it might be. Whatever it might be. Somehow you found this and it's an honor. Man, there was somebody I was supposed to say hello to. They were talking to their buddy, Sean. And then it was like, hey, is this guy, maybe he's in Flagler County. And he was like, I want to visit his church when I get out. Man, I forget your name, buddy. I forget your name. But thank you for watching. Man, I should have remembered that. Hey, I want to say also, I got this shirt on today. The Texas Inmates Crafts sent me this thing. That kingdom business. That kingdom business. Boy, I don't even know what I'm going to put in here yet. I'm going to put something important. Maybe my laptop. Maybe I'm a big Trident Gum person.
So maybe I'll just put a few packs of gum in here as well. Maybe I'll put some Chapstick because having chap lips is the worst. The worst. Yeah, my laptop. Anyhow, thank you so much. Man, how cool is this? When I show up with this thing, people are going to know. This dude means business. This dude isn't playing, ladies and gentlemen. He just showed up with this. So seriously, thank you to the Texas Inmates Crafts crew for sending that to me. Love, love, love getting those things. I really have not been to the mailbox in a minute. I do know Rick G sent me another sweet picture as well. So actually, I've got some pictures. I'll have to grab them. They're in my truck. Anyhow, filming this a little bit later in the day on a Tuesday. I've got my son at work with me today. If you hear a lawnmower in the background, that's because he's out there on that mower. And we got a little late start. One of the arm mowers at work didn't want to just decide. What did it decide? It didn't want to work. So I had to put him on that old school JD, that old school John Deere is what he's on, which is oddly enough, he's a fourth generation user. that lawnmower. My grandfather bought it probably 20 or 30 years ago. Uh, dad's used it. I've used it and now Jason's out there using it. So anyhow. Um, yeah, I got a lot going on and as always, it's hot. Goodness is a hot. Yesterday, one of the guys I was working with, it was showing a 117 heat index.
So it was pretty vivid. I think officially it was like 109 heat index, actual temperature of a hundred in Florida, which is essentially terrible. All right. But no one cares about that. Let's get into the episode today. We're talking about something, um, that you literally cannot follow Jesus without this. Like there's no way you can follow Jesus without it. That's what we're going to talk about today. I'm so, so glad to have all of you with us wherever you are for telling people about it, sharing it, uh, rowing with us, grabbing an oar with this year champion, rowing with us, making things happen. Uh, what we're, we're not seen and heard through the department of corrections without you. Like you help make this happen every single week. There's no way I could do it. Uh, there's no way the church could do it. It is because of you telling people about it, sharing the news, um, sharing with people, maybe back home to come check us out or on YouTube or whatever, or with somebody in your cell or a new dorm or, uh, whatever it might be. And you're like, Hey, have you, have you, have you listened to this or whatnot today? Again, we're going to talk about something. You cannot serve Jesus without this. It is literally, literally, literally impossible. Um, also, I know a couple of the gentlemen in the Potosi correctional center in the whole, uh, have, have kind of reached out and just said, thank you so much for what you're doing for bringing hope and light into a, a incredibly dark spot. And it's an honor to be able to do that. I don't take that lightly at all, all the way out there in Missouri. So thank you to y'all that have reached out and said, Hey man, this is reaching us all the way in the hole here in Potosi correctional center out there. So, uh, thank you. Thank you. Thank you for, for watching and being part of it and telling somebody about it. So, all right, enough of that. Let's jump into the episode.
If you've never been here, here's how we do it. We do a little ride. I'm going to teach and then we'll put some just videos that maybe connect, um, towards the end of that. And what I love about what we're talking about today is it just, it's the thing that actually brings that transformation as we're following Jesus. And one of my favorite, I don't know if I'll do it on this one, but one of my favorite football players, uh, if not my favorite football player of all time is Jim Kelly. He was the quarterback for the Buffalo bills back in the early nineties. And I love that in his story, if you've never heard his story and his story, he has this moment of transformation. He, he has this moment with his son, um, that is born, uh, with special needs and whatnot. And he has this moment of transformation in his heart. Um, and he is a born again believer as well. So, and he, I don't know if I'll put that one in this week or which one exactly, but yeah, anyhow, God bless you guys. Let's jump into the rest of the video here. I'm I forgot to, I got this sweet like key chain thing and it had like a little ore on it that I thought was really cool and I forgot it. I'm so sorry, but I did get it. So thank you for those that sent that in. All right, so we're talking about this. We've been talking about this is what disciples do. All right, so this is just what disciples do. And we've talked about repentance, we've talked about baptism and talk about making a public declaration of faith. We've talked about forgiveness for sure.
We've talked about that quite a bit, I think though, in my opinion. The last episode, I think it's The Freedom No One Talks About, Part 2, is probably the best one I've ever done recording sitting in here for all of you. We really talk about some stuff that I think really benefits our DOC family, our Department of Corrections family, for sure. But what we're going to look at today is the very reason we're even able to do anything is because of the Holy Spirit of God. That's the only reason. So Jesus would make these statements in John 15, let's just use John 15, 5 for an example. He says, I'm the vine, you're the branches. And he says, if you abide in me and I abide in you, you'll bear much fruit, which is obviously the goal. Like we want to bear much fruit. But it's Galatians 5 that says it's the Holy Spirit who produces this fruit in us. So you see the connection there with that, okay? And he goes, apart from me, Jesus says this, you can do nothing. So we know, and this is what we believe here at Champion, that there is Father, Son, and Spirit. That is the Trinity of God. As a Christian, that is what we believe. There is Yahweh the Father, Jesus the Son, and then the Holy Spirit of God, three in one. One God, three in one. Now that's a whole deeper conversation for a different day, but that is what we believe. And here's why. Because cover to cover, you're going to see Father, Son, Spirit. And I think sometimes, depending on your background as well, is how you kind of take that. Because here's the truth of the matter. I don't want to say preconceived ideas, maybe I should say like this.
Prior knowledge really begins to dictate sometimes how we see God. So like, let's use this for an example. If you think God is mad at you, it's maybe because you have prior knowledge that, oh, well, God is mad at someone who does X, Y, or Z. Sometimes you can even, because of that, you can take things out of context that are not true. But Jesus would say, if you've seen me, you've seen the Father. And you've heard me say on this episode several times, and every time I say this, it opens a can of worms, so why not do it again? Be careful of anything you believe about God that you don't see in the person of Jesus. I think an episode I'm going to do just for our DOC family soon, I don't know when, but soon I'm going to do an episode just for our DOC family all about, because I've heard people say, I get what you're saying of how good God is, but I struggle because I see things in the Old Testament that do not show how good He is. It actually shows Him to be erratic, or just like declaring massive genocides and all this kind of stuff, right? So I think I'm going to do this episode coming up because I have so many of y'all's questions on those kind of things that this is not, I don't know, I'm going to save that for a different time, because that is such a deep subject that I want to address. The point that I'm trying to make today is, you cannot serve Jesus without the Holy Spirit, and from cover to cover, you see the very Holy Spirit of God moving in and through God's people. Now, oftentimes, the prior knowledge would be that the Holy Spirit only filled people or came upon people at a particular moment for particular people with a particular assignment. The thing is this, in Acts chapter 2, I encourage you to go to read it, it's something that's called Pentecost that is happening. A lot of Christian words here, but track with me. It's this moment that's called Pentecost, it's when the Holy Spirit becomes available to everyone. Now, Jesus talked a lot about the Holy Spirit.
Jesus would say in Luke chapter 11 about the Holy Spirit, and again, go read it, He would say in verse 13, if you sinful people know how to give good gifts, then how much more does your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him? We'll use this for an example, like the shirt I'm wearing, or the briefcase that I got, or so many different things that are here on my shelf that came from all of you that sent gifts to me and to the church, which has been amazing. I'm blown away every time I open up something like that. I'm just truly blown away by that, it is amazing to me. And if we, being sinful people, know how to give good gifts, then how much more does our heavenly Father give to us? These are the words of Jesus, Luke chapter 11, verse 13, to those who ask for the Holy Spirit. John 14, Jesus would say this, listen, I'm leaving, this is what He tells His disciples, I'm leaving, but I'm going to send another one, and He says it like this, that's a helper, a comforter, advocate, intercessor, counselor, strengthener, and a standby. Jesus says this, John 14, verse 16, to be with you forever, the Spirit of truth, whom the world can't receive because it does not know Him or see Him, but you know Him because the Holy Spirit remains with you continually and will be in you. That's John chapter 14. Verses 16 and 17 jesus would say in acts chapter 1 verse 8, but you will receive power When the holy spirit comes upon you and you will be my witnesses telling people about me everywhere in jerusalem Throughout judea and samaria and the ends of the earth. The problem is this Sometimes we might have preconceived ideas Or prior knowledge that messes up to truly walk with jesus today So just using the holy spirit for an example now in our context there are so many people from so many different backgrounds Maybe you grew up without with no god in your life whatsoever. You grew up in an agnostic home or you grew up in atheistic home uh, maybe you grew up, uh, and and something or maybe this is like the first religion you came into was like Islam or something like that or maybe uh, you have joined a group of that is like, uh with odinism in the in the jail and the docs, uh I'm trying to think of the right word
Um sphere of influence if you will like there's so many different things maybe maybe even You have said no. Listen, I actually belong to the church of satan And what people would call it quote unquote satanist, which is really just someone who focuses on themselves, right? And that's a whole different thing to go into into a different day And i've done a little bit of this before of like jesus versus everybody if you go back and find that episode I talk about jesus against other religions and what's the difference of it? So even with the holy spirit, uh, i'm just going to hit these kind of quick. Okay So in the holy spirit, this is not the holy spirit. We believe in christianity He was not an angel gabriel or anything like that. We believe the holy spirit is god We believe that completely it is father son spirit and the trinity of one god And what we believe is the one and true god the holy spirit is not A spirit of our ancestors or anything like that We believe the same spirit that was in genesis chapter one that we see poured out in acts chapter two at pentecost Where it's the fulfillment of the prophecy and joel where he says my spirit will be poured out on all flesh That is the very spirit. It is god's spirit. It is not a different one. It's not a hand-me-down Uh, it's not a uh, non-name brand. It's not a distant cousin It is the very spirit of god that is talked about from beginning of genesis through Revelation we see the holy spirit of god. It is not something i'm trying to think of what else this isn't just a feeling Or anything like that. It's not something that we've come up with and try to explain stuff It is the very spirit of god and jesus said you're going to be empowered by him Jesus said in john 16 It's best that I go so that he could come because essentially god the father is on the throne Jesus is at the right hand and the holy spirit is in the earth today again Three in one. All right. Let me catch my breath now. We've seen in acts chapter two When they're convicted they go tell us what to do and peter would say repent be baptized for the forgiveness of your sin And then receive the holy spirit that's been a promise to you. That's what he would say now Here's the thing What we can learn about what the holy spirit does in our life Again is seen from the very beginning of time. You hear my voice crack just then My eyes are on fire itching
Allergies are rocking You can learn from the very beginning so we see it in the new testament as well, right? So we'll see with the gifts of the spirit and the fruit of the spirit and we see these things Where even jesus himself it says was filled with the holy spirit. That's luke chapter 4. That's acts chapter 10 We see this but even if you go back to genesis 1 genesis 1, uh would say this In the beginning god created the heavens and the earth the earth was without form and void and darkness was over the face of the deep And the spirit of god was hovering over the face of the water So here it's already here in the very beginning in genesis We see that the spirit of god is there and like how does this relate to us where it says it's hovering over the waters If you've ever seen a show of like deep waters, maybe i'll try to put some of this in this episode Like deep water fishing whether it's like, uh deadliest catch or something like that the deeper the water the higher the waves The stronger the current right? And so I love this that it says even when the earth was without form or void the spirit was hovering over the water So what does that mean for you and I? That even if you don't have the progress that you want to have in following jesus Maybe you know like hey i'm not the person I was but i'm not exactly the person I want to be What's the point the holy spirit is still In and moving in and through our lives as it says in genesis 1 hovering over our lives if you will Even when we don't see the progress there is still his presence So if you have if you're having seasons of really high highs and really low lows It doesn't mean the spirit of god isn't there No, it just simply means he is still present even though your life is maybe still feels like it's going like this and deep water There's currents. Maybe you feel pulled in all these different directions. You have the old you you have the new you you have the people You're around, you have the people that you influence or they influence you, whatever it might be, these different currents, the Spirit is still hovering over you even in those seasons. Another place that you would see the Holy Spirit would be in Exodus 31 with this guy named Bezalel. So Bezalel is in there and it says that he is full of the Spirit of God. That's Genesis 31, just start in verse 1, you'll see this.
And he's full of the Spirit to be, or to use the work of his hands for the tabernacle. See sometimes we think the Holy Spirit is only for churches, or the Holy Spirit is only for older people, or the Holy Spirit is only for maybe the odd ones. No, the Holy Spirit of God is even for your work. I know several of you are part of a work camp or something like that. You're like, yeah, I'm just out here cutting grass or I'm just out here cooking this. The Holy Spirit of God actually empowers you to do it in a way that it's salt and light for others and like a city set on a hill. Without the Holy Spirit, you're trying to do it all on your own. You're trying to follow Jesus on your own. And again, even he didn't do this, Luke chapter 4 makes that clear, Acts chapter 10 makes that clear. He had the Spirit of God in him and you have the exact same one. So for when you get, maybe you're getting out soon and you're going back into the workplace, you're not going out there on your own, you're carrying the very Spirit of God to do things with your hands and with your life well. You're not on your own. You're not on your own, man. The next one, if you see in the judges in the Old Testament, the judges, they are empowered by the Holy Spirit. Othniel, you'll see, I want to say it's Judges 3, I could be wrong on that, but he is empowered for responsibility, that he has responsibility that is way over his head. But Othniel has the Spirit of God empower him to handle that responsibility. You and I have the same. There's a judge named Gideon. Gideon is eaten up with insecurities. Gideon is eaten up with knowing his deficiencies, but the Spirit of God clothes him where he can move with courage. Maybe for you, you're eaten up with insecurities. You know all of your deficiencies.
The very Spirit of God that is given to us by God as a good gift that Jesus promised now can actually give us courage where before we were cowards. That's the best way I know it. And I can say that because I've walked that. There's a guy named Jephthah in the Old Testament as a judge. He is rejected by everyone, but the Spirit of God empowers him. Maybe you feel rejected, but the very Spirit of God will empower you. Samson, dude was a mess, but the very Spirit of God empowered him for strength. Maybe that's what you need. You're like, man, I don't know how much more I could go on. I don't know how much more I could do. I don't know how many more times I could face this. Maybe like Samson, you need the Spirit of God to strengthen you. I think about David. When David kills Goliath, he does it because the Spirit of the Lord was upon him. It's the same with us. So the same Spirit that empowered David to face and kill Goliath is the same one that empowers us for our giants. Maybe you've got a court case coming up, and it's going to determine essentially your life. Maybe you can have the strength of God, the same one that empowered David to face that. Maybe you've got a bad report of sickness, of cancer, and that's the giant. Listen, the very Spirit of God that empowered David to face Goliath can empower you. Maybe you have stuff going on at home that you can do nothing about, and it's this massive giant. The very Spirit of God that empowered David can empower you. Maybe you're going home soon, and you don't know what that's going to look like, and it's this big giant that's just facing you, like, I have no idea what I'm going to do. The same Spirit that enabled David enables and empowers you. One of the ones, I love this, 1 John 4.4, the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the Spirit who is in the world, 1 John 4.4.
Spirit who lives in you is greater than the Spirit that's in the world. There's this moment, Luke 14.4, or 4.14, excuse me. Jesus returns to Galilee filled with the Holy Spirit's power. And then he says this, the Spirit of the Lord is upon me. He's anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and at the time of the Lord's favor has come. Now here's the thing. We're not the Messiah. Jesus was, but Romans 10 tells us this. Notice the connection. Christ lives within you. So even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. The Spirit of God, Romans 8.11, that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by the same Spirit. living within you. Let me look at this other one. Ezekiel 36 essentially was saying this, I don't know, a thousand years earlier. God says, I'll clean you and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away and you'll no longer worship idols. This is Ezekiel 36 25. I will give you a new heart and I'll put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony stubborn heart and give you a tender responsive heart. Some of you need to hear that promise, man. And I will put my spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations. Here's the point that I just want you to get, man. We can do nothing without the Holy Spirit. We can, you can't forgive, you can't be a good disciple, you can't witness, you can't be salt and light, you can be halfway fake versions if you try to do it on your own without the Holy Spirit of God. I don't know your prior knowledge or your old preconceived ideas. I told the church on
this past Sunday, get rid, maybe, this might be healthy for some of you, to get rid of maybe everything you know about the Holy Spirit of God. Get rid of all of that and let Scripture speak to you because it is the very thing that has been given to you when you accept Jesus as your personal King and Savior. If you've never done that, today's the day to do it. Pando makes it incredibly easy with the button right below. Today's the day to do that and now you had the very Spirit of God in your life. You'll see it's the Spirit of God that gives them boldness in the book of Acts. It's the Spirit of God that produces love and joy and peace and patience and goodness and kindness and gentleness and self-control. It's the Spirit of God that produces the gifts of the Spirit in our life. You can't do this without Him. So don't ignore it. Don't push it to the side. I ask, I pray all the time, I'll say, Holy Spirit speak to me. It's not against Jesus or God. It's three in one. Holy Spirit lead me. Galatians 5, if we live our lives by the Spirit then we must stay in step with the Spirit. Romans 8 talks about this. Go read Romans 8. It talks all about it. Those that are led by the Spirit of God, they are the children of God and it's the Holy Spirit. He doesn't bring condemnation. He brings conviction. He's the one that's like, hey, there's a better way and that leads us and empowers us. Jesus said Himself, you will be empowered by the Holy Spirit. I know Pando has a lot of good things on this. I would imagine if this is something you want to learn more about, I would just search that. Just search Holy Spirit in the Pando app. Watch some different things. Learn some stuff about it. If anybody, I will say this, if anybody's like, oh, the Holy Spirit isn't for us today, man, they are absolutely not. Like that is such, that's such, gotta be careful. I'm saying this respectfully, but that's incredibly incorrect. Like if, then, like if that's true, if someone says that you don't need the Holy Spirit or that the Holy Spirit isn't for us, they, that is ridiculous. That is ridiculous. That's somebody driven by preconceived idea. What do you do with Romans 8? Right? What do you do with Jesus went around good, full of the Holy Spirit? What do you do with that? That's Acts chapter 10. Like, like, what do you do with Jesus saying, ask God for the Holy Spirit. He'll
give it to you. The Luke chapter 11. Like, what do you do with, hey, Jesus, John 16, where he goes, hey, it's best that I go so the Holy Spirit can come. What do you do with Joel chapter 2, where God says, I will pour out my spirit on all flesh for everyone. And then in Acts chapter 2, Peter says, listen, this is fulfilled right now. We all have the Holy Spirit. Now it's not for particular people in a particular moment with a particular assignment. It is for everyone who calls Jesus Lord. Like, what do you do with that? So I will say this, if anybody on Panda and I don't, you can tell them to email me. I don't give a, I'm gonna tell you that's ridiculous. And maybe like, well, I feel like that. I'm not throwing stones. I'm just saying maybe it's time to get rid of preconceived ideas and maybe some prior knowledge that was false and see what the scripture says in our life. I will say this. There are people who also over-emphasize the spirit and never talk about the word. But remember in Genesis chapter 1, I know I need to be done, but just hear me. Genesis chapter 1, when he's hovering over the face of the deep, what's the next thing that happens? God speaks the word, let there be light, and there was light. The spirit and the word always go together. The spirit, if you have all spirit and no word, you are incredibly unbalanced. If you have all word and no spirit, you are incredibly unbalanced. It is the spirit and the truth working together, never on its own. Never. Never. I know people who have more respect for the Bible than they do the Holy Spirit, but it was never Father-Son Bible. It was Father-Son spirit. And through that, we have his word speaking to us. So yeah, that sounded harsh. I don't mean it harsh. I just, it blows my mind when Christians are like, oh, the Holy Spirit's not for us. I'm like, dude, what, what, like, I got, man, I got, I'm trying to really be careful. I'm trying not to get flagged as much, so. Yeah, man, gotta have it. Without the Holy Spirit, I genuinely believe this, without the Holy Spirit in our life,
you can do nothing in following Jesus. You need him, you need him. And he's the one that's speaking to you. When you hear it, he's the one speaking to you, nudging you. Jesus would say this, because the Holy Spirit consistently turns us back to the person of Jesus. It's like this, it's like Jesus is like, hey, you need the Holy Spirit? Holy Spirit's like, hey, we need Jesus. And it's like this, there's this term, I cannot think of it right now, but it literally talks about, some translations would literally call it like the circle between God, like Father, Son, Spirit. So I'm getting into some stuff that can be confusing. I'm not trying to be confusing at all. I'm just telling you, you need the Holy Spirit of God, for sure. And it's hard, I was telling my wife this this week, it's so hard to teach on like Father, Son, or Spirit in like one little message. Because like, how do you cover something so massive that is immeasurable, right? It's so difficult. So I know I'm not saying everything on it. This is a 30,000 foot view, do some more research on it if you need to. Next week's gonna be something a little bit different, for sure, but until then, love all of you. God bless all of you.
I'm incredibly behind on even just like secure, smart inmates, so y'all gotta forgive me, workers, it's just, you know, there's, I don't have any margin in my life right now, honestly. So it's busy, busy, busy season, and everybody's busy. I get it, I hate even saying that, but I also don't want to lie to you and pretend like it's not happening either. So I'm trying to think what else? All right, I think that's it. God bless all of you. I love all of you. You can tell it's already well through the day, I'm kind of tired. I've already been working quite a bit. And those three digits, man, in Florida, I know everyone's like, oh, in Nevada, it's hot, but it's a dry heat or something like that. I don't know, man. Hold the phone, ladies and gentlemen. So many people ask me about the different versions of the songs. Here's what I do, okay? I just go on YouTube, and I search AI cover. I might put that song in there, whatever it might be. A lot of the ones recently, I think it's like a dark country one. Dude, there was one in the air tonight, was such a good song. But the problem is, because they're not copyright, they're not using them correctly, YouTube will take them down every couple weeks. So you might hear one, like I did the one on the Corvettes one, the behind the scenes, like the first behind the scenes. I think the logo's like a neon green, and there's a Corvette. I do one in there of Jesus walks. That one's not even on YouTube anymore. That one got taken down. But there's one of in the air tonight. I'm probably gonna play that as my outro, because that's a good one. That's a good one. Yeah, that's where I'm getting the stuff.
I just go in there and just search AI covers. There's a couple different ones. A lot of the ones I've been using recently are called like dark country, or something like that, or like dark rock or something. I don't know why they say that. Anyhow, your boy Spint. If you're good at something, never do it for free. The hardest choices require the strongest wills. You see this guy here staring back at you? Yeah. That's your toughest opponent. Hey, progress, not perfection. Today, I am at the world's largest pet fair in Los Angeles, and I'm looking for the most expensive animals in the entire world. We're starting right here. Sal, what do you got right there? This is a curly haired tarantula worth $5. Five bucks. We can only go up from here. We're starting with five bucks with a curly haired tarantula, so let's get it. This is literally the world's largest pet show, so you've got everything. You've got plants, you've got lizards, you've got snakes, and other holes. There are birds, there are fish. I believe there's cats and dogs. I mean, we've got a little bit of
everything here at this show, which is absolutely insane, so come with me as we spread out and cover so much ground at the world's largest reptile show. It's going to blow your mind. We have some really cool ponds at my place, so I'm looking for a couple things for my fish tank potentially, a couple things for the pond, and of course, on the lookout to see what the most expensive thing at the pet fair is. Oh, no way. Look at this. First pond. Sorry, bud. Look at that. Sturgeon. I'm going to get one. Yeah, I am. I got to get roads. Come with me. Dude, I am. Look what I found. Look, look, look, look. Go look in that bucket right there. What is it? Sturgeon. Didn't we say we wanted a sturgeon for the pond? Yeah. Do you want to get a white one or a dark one? White one. We're going to get a white sturgeon. That's so exciting. So we've seen a lot of pretty cool stuff here at the reptile show today, but I have not seen these guys anywhere. So at first look, you might think, wait, that's a bearded dragon. You're wrong. You're an idiot because this is a toad-headed agama, right? Yeah, absolutely. Tell me about these guys. They're crazy. Look how mean he looks. Yeah, for sure. These guys are like little bulldogs. They're different from a bearded dragon. They are in the agamid family, but these guys are from the southern China area to the Middle East. And what these guys are known for is having a crazy threat display, like the frilled lizards, where they open up the sides of their mouth and kind of, you know. Look at the frills and the spikes that they have on the side of their head there. And then, of course, where the name comes from is this crazy, just like bulldog looking face. And you can see he's not loving being handled. So we won't keep him out longer than we need to. But how much are these guys? What do we have him going for, Bailey? $400. That's not bad. $400 bucks. Yeah, very reasonable. It's pretty cheap. You want to get him in the hands of responsible keepers. Definitely not the most expensive reptile to show. Definitely not. Thanks for having me, guys. Yeah, absolutely. Oh, it's okay, buddy. It's okay. Go home. Simmer down, buddy. All right, what do we got here?
So we got a pixie frog. I'd say one of the biggest. I dare you to pick him up. You know what? I think we can do that. Oh, I thought he was going to bite you. Aren't they pretty bitey by nature? They usually are pretty bitey. Let's see. You know what? I think he's just a little shy today. Bold. Very bold. A cool frog. And they make a pretty good pet, right? They're easy. They're hardy. Super easy. And what's really fun, you can feed this a small rat. So if you want a frog that don't want to deal with crickets, get yourself a pixie. So let's see. So I'm going to pick him up. He'll probably bite me now. Look at the size of this frog right here. I mean, that is a monster frog. It's cool because they have this very waxy feeling. And they're not wet. They're not slimy. They're just very waxy. I mean, wouldn't you call them that? Now, here's the big question. We're asking this about everything today. How much is this frog? This guy is $500. $500. $500 frog. That's pretty good. We're climbing. We're getting there. We're finding the most expensive animals at the show. All right. So the last time we were here and doing a reptile show, we almost got a jet black snake from Lucas from Dan. But Dan, now you got something even crazier looking. Is this a sunbeam snake? It is a sunbeam snake. You're right. This one is a calico. This is a wild-caught color morph mutation that was encountered in the wild. No way. So this is wild-caught? Yes. You're joking. So this has to be unbelievably rare. Because usually if an animal is going to have a color morph like that, it's not going to make it to adulthood. Right. It's going to get picked off by a bird or something. Exactly. That is so cool. And look at this. Now, there's a reason they call these animals sunbeam snakes. Dan, let's go over here. Kyle, come over here. I don't want to steal the snake over here, but when you look at this beautiful creature, you see how beautiful it is, this white spotting? And I've never seen one morph like this.
But when you put it in the sun, right? Yeah. You don't mind me doing this? Not at all. Not at all. And if you look at this here, you can see why they're called sunbeam snakes, because that shimmer that they get. The normal ones are very dark, almost like a chocolate color. Right. So, and also very iridescent. But kind of surprisingly to me, the iridescent still shows on the white snake. Yeah. So it's amazing. This might be one of the only ones in the world like this. Probably. I don't think you'll ever see another one. No. Let me... Let me ask you a big question. How much is this beautiful snake? $850. That's worth every penny, because that is an amazing snake. Tell me a little more about your albino lungfish here, man. They're from Africa, so this is an African lungfish. So during the wet season, they're all going to come out, and they breed during the wet season. So during the dry season, like you said, they'll go through a little, like, hibernation period, where they completely dry out. And then when the wet season comes, the bran will come, they'll all crawl out of the mud, and then they'll all breed again. Such cool fish. Well, nice, man. You've got a hell of a variety. I'm going to pick up one of your butterfly fish on the way out. I can do it now if you like, or do it later.
We're big fans of the channel, us at CK Fish World, so we want to gift you guys any type of fish you guys want. Oh, wow. I think we'll do a butterfly fish. I love those African butterfly fish. They're from my homeland, so I appreciate it. Yeah, of course, man. Thank you so much. We're going to give you guys an African. Oh, that's so cool. Hey, man, what's your name? Robert. Robert, nice to meet you. I'm Thor. Exotic and beautiful birds. Exotic and beautiful birds. I'll tell you this. You caught my eye, because you do have some of the most exotic and beautiful birds at this whole show. I've seen a lot of the same of the same. What's your most expensive birds that you have? Right now, those Amazons over there. How much are your Amazons? The Amazons, they're really big, $2,900. Hey, there we go. Yeah. Look at that. Oh, he's lovely. Look at him.
And I heard you say when I walked by, it was funny, if you drop them, you buy them. We don't want to drop them. We're looking for the most expensive animals of the show. What do you got? It's a blue tree monitor. OK, can I see him? Yeah. Hey, buddy. Wow, he's really blue. Yeah. So where are blue tree monitors from? Are they in the game? They're from Indonesia, only one island called Batanta. Oh, wow. And as I'm sure you know, and a lot of people at home probably know, blue is by far the rarest color in nature. So having a lizard that's blue like this is pretty spectacular. Look how sharp those claws are. I mean, they literally dig right into my skin. He is awesome. I got to hold him a little better. What makes him so special outside of that blue coloring? Tree monitors are cool because they rarely ever come to the ground besides laying eggs. Yep, yep. So this species also just recently got put on the endangered species list. OK.
So big question here, Armand. What does this beautiful blue lizard cost? This one is about $4,000. $4,000. Man, that's a lot for a tree monitor. But boy, it is a spectacular animal. I mean, look at that color. Look under the light here, where you can really see that blue pop. How many of these do you have? Only this girl. Oh, no. Oh, you better not sell her. Yeah, I'm trying to get her to someone that has a male. Ah, understood. Understood. Armand, good to see you, buddy. Thank you. She is very scratchy. I think I'm bleeding all over. So if you don't know, I'm a huge nerd for turtles and tortoises. Absolutely love them. And Connor here may have some of the most expensive animals at the show, which is what we're looking for. So same species? Yes, sir. Can I guess? Please. I don't think they're Galapagos. I think they're Aldabras.
Yes, sir. All right, so that means they are the second largest species of tortoise in the world from off the coast of Africa. What else can you tell us about them, Connor? They're second largest species. They're from the Seychelles Islands. They look very similar to the Galapagos tortoises, but they're actually a completely separate, divergent population of island gigantic tortoises, which is pretty interesting. Really cool. They can get 500 to 600 pounds and live about 200 years. So how old is this little guy right here? It's going to be a few months, like three, four months right now. So they're born really big, then? They are born pretty big and they do grow fast for about the first year or two of life. They're growing very rapidly. This guy here is about four years old now, so pretty quick growth in the first four or five years. So here's the big question for you, Connor. How much is this little guy? $2,500. And you said that they appreciate in value. So if this little guy's $2,500, what does this one cost? We're asking $5,500. $5,500. That may be definitely the most expensive tortoise at the show, but probably not the most expensive animal in the room.
Wouldn't you say? Probably not the most expensive animal, but probably the most expensive tortoise. Yeah. And they're badass. Let's keep looking. So Bethany, there is everything at the show, including a baby zebra for sale. So I have two questions for you about Zippy. One is, how do you make him so nice? Because every zebra I've ever met is a total jerk. So that's the thing, is you have to pull them early so they don't get the bad habits of the flightiness of the mom because they watch. So if the mom is not used to people, she freaks out with certain things, and the zebra's like, oh, I'm going to do the same thing. Whoops. You're still a zebra, huh? Ears back. All right, question for you. How much is Zippy? So he's about $9,500. $9,500. We're getting up there. We're getting nearer. We're looking for the most expensive animal at the show. I like him. He's awesome. Thank you so much.
You're welcome. Dude, so tell me. I heard you have some pretty spendy snakes. What do you got that's special? Well, this is one of the five snakes in the country. So there's only five of these available. Explain. What is it? It's a carpet python? What is it? No, it's not. So it's a reticulated python. a python, a superdwarf mixed with a hybrid of a Timor. So a hybridized animal produced this. Whoa. Yeah, she's a- And it's got that like rainbow thing going on too, huh? Yeah, the iridescence. Yeah. Yeah, that's gonna be the superdwarf and the Timor basically acting on the pattern. Whoa, so I mean, I was way off saying it was a carbon python. I just saw the pattern in it, but so- Close. Sorry, explain again. So it's got retic in it, and what else? Superdwarf reticulated python, so a tiny retic mixed with a Timor python. Wow, okay. So this is insane.
It's a very long skinny snake for something that has retic in it, right? Correct, yeah, well, I mean, the superdwarfs in general don't get as big as a normal. They're not as meaty? Yeah, exactly. Okay, interesting. A baby superdwarf, you're looking at- I'm learning so much about expensive snakes. 55 to 65 grams as a baby. Okay. So our babies are usually pretty small. Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. So I would say it's a good size. Yeah, fair enough. How old is this snake? She's gonna be roughly around three years old now. Oh, wow, okay. Just trying very hard to get that water bottle. Hey, hey, hey, hey. It's a tree-dwelling snake. Yeah, and I'm a tree, so that's really cool. So here's the big question. You said one of five? Yeah, one of five, yeah. In the world? In the country. In the country. As something as rare as being one of five in the whole country,
what does this unbelievably beautiful snake cost? In my opinion, 10,000 is not bad. 10,000. 10,000. 10,000 bucks for this beautiful tree-dwelling snake. That's trying to choke me out. The only one available. So there's five, but there's only one available. Wow. Does it come with the autoerotic asphyxiation, or do you have to add that in? That's free. Oh, okay, nice. That's free. Totally worth it. So Mike here from The Reptile Shop is about to pull out what might be the most expensive animal at the world's largest pet fair. What do we got, Mike? So here we go. We've got a VPI. Okay. IMG blood. Okay, what does all that mean? So VPI, it's a T-positive albino. Okay. IMG is increased melanin gene, and blood is that red hue that it has all over. And that just ended up having like a really good balance of contrast, color, quality.
And it's like one of those ones, you kind of get the white elephant, the white rhino, where you find one that just kind of everything blends well. I feel like that's it. What, and it's a stunning creature. What does this snake cost? So that's $15,000. 15, you could buy a car for this snake. You could buy a good car for 15,000. Holy smokes, that's unbelievable. It's so funny because when everybody around the show was telling me, come talk to Mike over here at the reptile shop, I thought you were going to have this like 11 foot long snake. I mean, that's over there. This is actually the melanistic gene that that carries. So, and this guy will get big like that, right? So this one will probably get a little smaller than this one. Okay. But that's, so the dark color on that is actually this gene. Yeah. But when you add blood and VPI T-positive. Cancels those things out. It kind of cancels it out a little bit. Sure, sure, that's wild. Well, Mike, you have some of the most incredible, beautiful snakes, every color of the rainbow. The reptile shop is dope. Thank you so much.
And I appreciate the free snake. Take care now. Hope you guys enjoyed. Do me a favor. Please hit that subscribe button. We really appreciate it. Here it comes. It's ya boi MJ. We Out! I Love you I Hey You You You You You You You You You You You You You You You You You

There are rare moments in football, like a player who ran straight through the referee, a kicker who handled personal business during a live game. Every moment in this video is one in a trillion. Let's get into it. Watch this pass right here. The ball hit the defender's face mask, bounced up into the air, and Brandon Aiyu caught it. He had no business catching that ball, but he did. But if you think that catch was impossible, this next kick was impossibly bad.
Ravens need the ball back. Boswell lines up for the onside kick. He tried to show it left and kick it right, but he completely missed the ball. Even the officials were laughing. I have never seen anything like that in my life. But in the next moment, a coach completely lost his controls. Watch this coach's reaction after a tough loss. I think that man needs therapy. At this next moment, it started on the field and ended with someone losing their job. Tyreek Hill just scored a touchdown. Watch his celebration. He grabbed a photographer's phone and did a backflip with it. After the game, the NFL fired the photographer, but Tyreek promised to pay his salary for the rest of the year. But this next catch, nobody has ever seen anything like it. Watch this pass carefully. Gary Borridge caught a touchdown with his legs. The ball never touched the ground. I hope that is the only thing he has ever caught down there. But this next moment, the only person getting hurt was the referee. Watch the referee on this play. He ran straight through the umpire like he wasn't even there. That man is not getting any good calls for the rest of the game. This next moment is just amazing. Watch this field goal. goal attempt. The ball hit the top of the post, came back down, hit the bottom of the post, and somehow went through for a goal. Nobody in that stadium knew what just happened. But this next moment took just as much focus.
Patriots punting the ball near their own end zone. Two players dove and stopped the ball at the one-yard line. They could try that a trillion times and it would never happen again. But this next moment needed no skill at all. Just bad luck. Vida Veja takes a big hit right here. He lost his tooth in the middle of the game. This man felt absolutely nothing, and that is the scariest thing I have ever seen. But this next player had to leave the field for a very different reason. D.K. Metcalf gets on the injury cart and is taken off the field. The game literally stopped because he got carted off for a bathroom break in the middle of an NFL game. But this next moment happened before the game even started. Brandon Whedon is walking onto the field for his very first NFL game. He got completely tangled up in the American flag. His first ever NFL experience, and he couldn't even make it onto the field properly. But this next moment, someone caught a Dak Prescott before the game even started. He opens his hip and whips it like a golfer. Nobody throws like that, but somehow it works every time. But this next player expressed himself after a touchdown and paid for it. Michael Thomas scores a huge touchdown for the Saints. Watch his celebration. He pulled out a phone and literally called game on the sideline. The NFL fined him $30,000 because players cannot have phones on the field. He scored the biggest touchdown of the game and got a bill in the mail for it. But this next player celebrated in a way nobody could find. Watch Cam Newton. He dove into the end zone with both arms out, like he was actually flying. That man is not an NFL player. He is Superman's little brother.
But this next player, he was doing something very different on the sideline. Watch Mark Sanchez on the sideline. He was secretly eating a hot dog during a live NFL game. The cameras caught everything, and he had no idea. But in the next moment, Mark Sanchez came back with the most embarrassing moment of his career. Mark Sanchez gets the ball and runs it himself. He ran face-first into his own teammate's butt and fumbled the ball. The other team recovered it. That moment is remembered as the butt fumble. But this next moment also left a mark. Patrick Mahomes takes hit from DeSean Elliott. The hit was so hard, it put a hole right through his helmet. Mahomes got up and kept playing like nothing happened. That man is built differently. But in next moment, the ball just would not stop moving. Watch Tannehill with the ball right here. He fumbles it, and the ball bounces off one player, then another, then another, like a pinball machine. Washington just followed it and picked it up. That many fumbles on one play should be impossible. To do the useful thing, to say the courageous thing, to contemplate the beautiful thing. That is enough for one man's life. A few weeks back, me and the boys went camping. And one night, while setting up a tent, Zach, without skipping a beat, tied a very specific knot. He was just like, and I thought it was so cool. Because in that moment, Zach was useful. And useful is one of the coolest things that a guy can be. So that very night, we started a list.
And over the last few weeks, we've come up with 42 simple, useful things that we think everyone should learn how to do. And I promise you, there is something on this list that you'll learn. One day, you'll use it, whether it's alone or in front of a bunch of people, and you are going to feel so awesome. So in no particular order, number one, learn the basics of how a toilet works and how to use it. Learn the basics of how a toilet works and how to fix it. Like that. Number two, learn how to reset a circuit breaker. Like that. Number three, learn how to remount a chain that has fallen off a bike. Number four, learn CPR and when and how to use it. Imagine saving a child's life or a hot person's life. That would be so sick. Oh, and one tip, CPR isn't to resuscitate someone, it's to keep oxygen flowing to give them a better chance of surviving once help arrives. So step one of CPR is to call for help. Call for help, then medically kiss. Number five, learn how to jumpstart a dead battery. Dead positive, live positive, live negative, dead ground, and don't get your cables crossed. This one is incredibly simple, but is actually getting harder and harder as cars get more advanced. Figure out where your battery is and where your significant other's battery is. Is it in the trunk? Is it under the rear seat?
Number six, learn how to change a flat tire. Number seven, learn how to drive stick. And I mean this in the least macho car guy way possible. I think that everyone should know how to drive a manual transmission, not even from an enthusiast perspective, but because you might be asked to move a car with a manual transmission one day and you wanna be able to deliver. And I mean this in the most macho car guy way possible. Most old cars are better with a manual, most new cars are better with some sort of automatic. They are, I don't know what to tell you. Number eight, learn how to exercise alone without any equipment. Nine, learn and appreciate the power of compound interest and don't find yourself on the wrong side of it. Our human brains understand things that go like this. And we're really bad at gauging things that go like this. Number 10, have a basic understanding of how taxes work. You wanna save as much money as you can, but you don't wanna get down the road and get audited or go to jail. Honestly, if you can afford it, you should just pay someone to do your taxes. 24, discovering that Zach knew how to tie sick knots was one of the most inspiring moments of my life and inspired this video. So I said, Zach, my brother, give me the first five most useful knots that everyone should know and I'm going to learn them. All right, five knots, knot number one, the bow line. Bunny comes out of the tree, around the tree, back down the hole. This is good if you find a mare on an island and you want to make some stirrups. Next is the butterfly loop. If you have a damaged piece of rope, you can still use the rope if you put the damaged part in a butterfly loop. So now this rope is just as strong as it was, but if you had a little cut piece of rope, it would no longer be in the way. Okay, to join two pieces of rope, you might think to use a square knot, which I do sometimes, it's not a big deal, but technically a cheap bend is better in case you have different size rope. Yeah, this won't slip where a square knot could if they're really different size ropes. Tot line hitch. This is good to have an adjustable loop at the end of your rope. So now if it's under tension, it won't move, but then if you slide it.
Perfect for if you find a mare on an island and you need to make like a lead. Trucker's hitch. Somebody in our camping video said, hey, nice trucker's hitch, and that meant a lot. Really good for like if you were putting something on a truck and you want to tighten it down. As you pull, you've got like a ton of leverage. Dang dude, you're really going for it. For a job interview, you want to look like you have together, because a job is basically getting paid to help everyone else keep the collective. But that doesn't mean just like go hard into the like professional direction. You also want to show that you're a good fit for the culture. So do a little research, figure out the vibe. You should probably be doing this anyway
to decide if you want to work there. If that means a suit, then wear a suit. Nowadays, it probably doesn't. If that means a collared shirt, go on a collared shirt. Honestly, if it's like a creative agency or something, it would probably be in your best interest to just dress weird. I've been to these places. They just wear curtains for pants. And then how to just generally dress for adulthood. If you're into fashion, you read about it, you keep up with trends, you'd consider it a hobby, go do your own thing. If you're not into fashion in that way, but you want to dress like a grownup and never look back at a picture and think, ooh, what was I wearing? If you want people to consider you a well-dressed person, dress like Harrison Ford. I'm 100% serious. Just dress like Harrison Ford. As a non-fashion adult, you're not expected to keep up with trends. And Harrison Ford looked cool in 1978. He looked cool in 1992. He looked cool in 2005, and he still looks cool today. Even his fun earring is timeless. You talking to me? Dress like Harrison Ford. Number 38, we should all know how to talk to strangers.
I'm still working on this one. I am definitely a product of the internet and COVID. It's scary talking to people out in public, but it gets easier with repetition. A lot of times it's very rewarding. You know how good it feels walking back to your car after you go to like the bagel place and have a little chat with a couple? You feel like here, a small town USA. You know what I mean? Like George Bailey, the richest man I know. I think because I do what I do, a lot of people are surprised to learn that I'm extremely shy. I got a lot of social anxiety. And you don't realize that when I'm doing this, I'm basically alone in a room. So I encourage you to join me and face your fears and talk to people. I also encourage you to not be a weirdo. Did you know that 98% of speed subscribers have doubled their yearly income since becoming a speed subscriber? Did you know that? Hmm, weird. Yeah, nobody knows why, nobody knows why, it's just they're studying it at Harvard. Number 41, learn how to receive compliments. You guys know it can feel a little awkward when someone gives you a compliment sometimes. And I think our response very often is to like downplay it or make a joke out of it because we feel a little uncomfortable. But recently, I realized that that's a little bit rude. It's weirder to be like, oh, no, dude. And then they're like, no, you don't, no, dude. By being overly modest, you're like forcing them to glaze you harder, which is the opposite of what we all want to happen in this situation. So thanks, man, that really means a lot. And then let's move on. Hey, man, you're really good at tennis. Nah, yeah, you are. No, dude.
No, you don't suck, you're like really good. No. At tennis and I barely even am good at it at all. Hardly even know the rules. No, man, I was seeing you, you're really good at it. Honestly, dude, I'm so bad at tennis, I should probably go to the hospital. What? I should probably go to the hospital because I'm so bad at tennis and I'm basically injured and debilitated because I'm actually so bad at this game and I'm not even good at all. All right, dude, I was just trying to give you a compliment. No, like I am bad at tennis and if you think that I'm not, then there's something wrong with you. Yeah, I don't think I wanna play tennis with you next week. Good, because I suck and it might be contagious. And finally, number 42, the point of this entire video, learn how to learn how to do new things. This is the entire point of this channel and if you guys have one takeaway from not only this video but all of our videos, is that I wanna encourage you to learn new stuff.
