Pass It Down
When we think about leaving an inheritance, we usually think about money, possessions, and what we leave behind when we're gone. But what if you could leave an inheritance right now, regardless of where you are or what you have?
In Hebrews 11, we find something fascinating about Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. Of all the incredible things these men experienced, Scripture highlights what they intentionally passed down to the generations coming behind them.
In this episode, Trevor talks about the difference between material and spiritual wealth, why our faith was never meant to benefit only ourselves, and how even behind prison walls, we have opportunities to make a difference in someone else's life.
You may not have much to give materially, but what about the wisdom you've gained, the mistakes you've learned from, or the things Jesus has taught you along the way?
Sometimes the greatest inheritance we leave isn't something someone can hold in their hands. It's something we plant in their heart that may continue growing long after we've moved on.
Scriptures: Hebrews 11:20–22 | Proverbs 13:22
All forms and demands all powers and positions. Your name stands above the wall and the angels climb. Holy all creation crowns. Holy you are lifted high. Holy. Holy forever. This is a message to all Philistines. My name is Samson. God's anointed judge. I'm gonna burn your entire city to the ground with foxes that are on fire. It's gonna be awesome. I had a wife but it didn't work out. Follow me or don't really care. I gotta get to this party. Oh. We're in the money. Money in the power. Minute after minute. I was the hour. Everybody's funny. But how about me? Look at these two and one in the kitchen. But I don't know what's good. They say I got to learn but nobody's in a TV that they can't understand. How can they reach me? I just think I just think I just think I just think I just think that's why I got my hand on the poor food. But it is what it is. It's time to put another one in that living in the way of the river. We're back here in my eye. Oh. Oh. What in my hair? I can feel my hair going wild. I can feel a wild in the wind. Baby wild in the wind. What it is. What it ain't everybody. What it is and what it ain't. It's time. You know it's time as the man says in the intro. It's time to put another one in that pan dough app. Bang baby. Hey ladies and gents. My name is Trevor. I'm so glad that you are here with us. Whether you watch every single week, you are part of that champion family. Baby, you're rowing in this rowboat. We call champion church or or maybe somebody told you about it. This is the first time watching the show. Genuinely. I'm honored that you would even give us a shot and listen to us and check us out. I hope today serves you in some type of way where we are a small church located in Northeast Florida. Just south of Jacksonville in a city called St. Augustine in St. John's County with an incredibly large awesome all over the United States of America from Alaska. I hear this one all the time. Trevor, you don't talk about Kentucky. Oh, the way down to Arkansas, all the way out there to Nevada, to Georgia, to Maine, to Florida, to Texas, who I will be this time next year when I'm next year. This time next week, as I'm filming this, I'll be on one of them birdies on the way to South Texas, baby. But anyhow, we have a great DLC family all over. If you want to be a part of that, if you want to roll with us, hit that subscribe button. Hit it. Hit it because I got to tear my eye. What are you doing? Hit the subscribe button. Anyhow, yeah. So this is what we do. I ramble a little bit. We're going to take a little ride on something and then I'm going to teach a little bit and then we're going to do some scenery and then do some different things. If can you preach that? What I hear from you all is your
favorite segments. So this is not my teaching. That's okay. It's just my feelings. I'm just kidding. But anyhow, yeah, just glad to be with you. And our whole heart is this is to help you champion every season of your life, whatever you're going through, whatever you're facing, whatever you're walking through, whether you're a lifer, whether you're on death row, or maybe you just get out in a few weeks, a few days, maybe you're just sitting in a county jail or you're sitting in a maximum security, whether you are in a work camp or you are sitting in isolation somewhere. My heart genuinely is that I cannot believe that I get to serve you and look into that camera and say, Hey, somebody is thinking about you and he's right here. Somebody loves you and they're right here at the part of this church. Somebody cares enough to put all of this together to help you champion this season of your life, even as you sit behind those fences or behind those walls, behind those bars, whether you will see the light of day again or you will not. I believe this and I've been able to serve and be a part of abs, I was saying, I'm trying to be better with my language. I'm so honored that I get to do that. And so sometimes what happens is I get to leave this seat right here and go out and have some, I call them tour dates, visitation dates, whatever, has some different jails. If you want me to come to your prison jail, whatever, there's three things that are going to need to happen. Okay, I guess four technically, number one is this, the warden is going to have to be on board. Number two is this the administration to help get me all the paperwork that I need to be filled out has to be on board. And then number three is the chaplain, right? So the chaplain is, is there with you, grinding it out with you, whether he or she is doing that, but they need to reach out to me. So that'd be the fourth thing. So you need warden administration chaplain on board, warden is going to prove me going in administration is going to help me with the paperwork to get in. The chaplain is going to be the one that sets up the service and all of that kind of stuff. And he would be the one reaching out, or she would be the one reaching out, inviting me, right? So they can reach out through the church. A lot of times the church afforded to me and then I will respond personally. Or if you're in the state of Florida, all my information for your chaplain is going to be on their end of volunteer, I am a state of Florida,
Florida Department of Corrections approved volunteer. So that helps the process tremendously for sure for all that to happen. Okay, let's go over a few places I'm coming. So November 2nd. So Monday, November 2nd, I'll be in land caster right here in Florida doing two services there. I get 2 p.m. and a 6 p.m. or something like that, forget exactly what the times are. But there's two services right there on Lancaster. I can't wait to be with all of y'all. And then I'm flying out there to Texas out there to the great state of Texas. I will be at Willis unit in Raymondville, Texas on November 4th, November 5th, I'll be a Segovia unit down there in Edinburgh on November 5th. And then November 6, I'll be in Lopez, which is as well as in Edinburgh from what I understand. So that is happening next week as you're watching this, this comes out typically on Thursdays once again, it gets to the approval process. So I'll be out there. And then November 25th, November 25th, I will be a CFRC November 25th CFRC here in Orlando doing both services there. That's a two o'clock and a six o'clock, I believe also. And then November 30th, Monday or Tuesday or something like that, November 30th, I'll be out there in Arizona, Kingman correctional. I'm coming out there December 14th, December 14th, I'll be a Howard McLeod correctional center in Oklahoma. And then on the next day, so Monday, December 14th, I'm at my Howard McLeod, December 15th, I'm at Mac Alfred. So someone's like, Oh, I thought you're coming back out. I'm coming to both. So the 14th, I will be at Howard McLeod 15th, I'll be at Mac Alfred. All of those are through like 90%. The dates and all that are set, but the approval process is just a little bit left there. And here's the thing, guys, I could always change something to come up that could always change. Believe it, that's not going to happen. But that's where I will be out there. And then January, I'm not going to say the date on this because it's not been confirmed. Let me literally look at my text to see if it has been confirmed. I do not believe it has. Anyhow, so that being said, hold on just a second, I actually got to respond to that that text right now. It's actually a pretty, okay, sorry about that. We have a big board meeting for the church tonight. And that was a part
of that. But all right, it has not been confirmed yet. But I've heard from Jaclyn Beckett out there, Marian, let me open this Celsius. I have no prime today. No prime just that, that pink lemonade, baby boy, baby girl. Ladies and gents. Oh, yeah. And then January 7th, January 7th, Sumter CI and Bush. Now Florida, January 7th, Sumter CI at Bush. Now Florida, some of you all might remember those commercials. But all right, a couple of things I want to do. I did want to read through some comments. I've not been able to do that. And then we're on teach. And then I've got to get rolling. Man. So Joseph B said this, I've been practicing Wiccan for 13 years. I took the jumpstart program in prison. If that is available in your prison, you should absolutely do that. And the volunteers in the fellow inmates at my table show me God's love and acceptance. Come on, Joseph. I was stubborn and it took a little bit over the year. But God wouldn't leave me in my darkness. So I accepted him as my personal Lord and Savior. Let's go, man. Let's go, Joseph. Robert Jay said this, I found God in my lockdown prison cell. I was at a loss with nowhere to turn. So I prayed to God and blessed me with strength to get through my tour tour tour From drugs and alcohol Overall has shown me that he is a very real thing very loving to such a cruel world that hasn't formed me from his beginning I'll continue to put my faith and trust in a merciful God praise God, dude. Let's go Let me scroll down a little bit I've struggled all sorts of problems in my life. This is Damien s and Thanks to this app. I've spent time working on some of my problems and I've decided that I need to do better in my life And I believe that giving my life to Christ is the next step in my healing process. Dude. Let's go, man I know that I have a lot to learn but I'm happy to learn with people I found through this app like pastor Ed from Worthy people and Trevor Hannah that guy from champion church. God bless them and thank them for helping me through these times With the spirit of Christ praise God, dude. I was another and there was another good one Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo do and Tucky. I doesn't say something but I'm trying to be good. Thank you so much for this message. He was watching the one hope in a hopeless place. I've been
locked up for 18 and a half years and then he says what he did. I'm gonna just kind of admit that just so I don't get flagged more than I already do. But I get out in 16 more months. Let's go, man. But I've been one of the most broken men over this to walk this earth. I've done so much wrong. I've been living in so much pain and rage. I've thought about even taking my own before. Again, I got to be careful so I don't get flagged here. Everything I shouldn't do I have done. But watching your shows, man, I'm tired of running. Right now, tears are pouring down my face as I write you this. Trevor, thank you so much. You have this was super kind, man. You saved my physical body and Jesus has saved my soul. I do. Like when I read this yesterday, I was literally crying to me. I'm tired of running and I refuse to run another step. I'm devoting my life to Christ. I hope I can find a good church when I get out. I got faith that you will. I have nowhere to go. No family or no friends. But if God can save me, then he will surely find me a home. That is dude. That is the way to think about it. Thank you again, champion church. Please don't ever stop what you're doing. Man. Ah, yeah, let's go. Oh, this one, Tyler S said this. He said this. The Bible also says repent and turn from your sins. Absolutely. Go in and he actually says that in Acts chapter two to be specific. Okay. Go and sin no more. Yep. This is what Jesus said. Working on sanctification is a crucial part of being reborn. I totally agree. Simply, I think it's what you're trying to say here, simply say in the magic words alone won't do it. You must have the fruit in the form of sanctification. Hey, all right. So Tyler brings up a great point here. Well, if you're just repeating a prayer, if you're just saying this prayer, you know, is that just enough? Well, here's the truth and matter. I can say any words, but if my heart doesn't show it, then you're right. It's Tyler. You're 100% right, man. Then that doesn't do it. Now, what happens is, and again, I'm just reading what you left here and I'm not throwing stones by any means. And to be completely honest with you, I'm not ignoring or I'm not ignoring you. I just read it in front of our entire DLC family. I'm not disagreeing with what you're saying, but there's also, I can read into a little bit of it. And again, I'm assuming
here and they know what they say about people that are assuming it makes out of you and me. But it sounds like you're like, yeah, but you've got to do more. Okay, so here's the thing. If our heart is to accept Christ, right? Like if our heart is to accept Christ, like we just, we just read these other ladies and gents that gave their life to Christ. Their heart is genuine in it. That is kind of like the starting of the race, the giving of my life. That's, that is being reborn as Jesus was say in John chapter three, it has to start with publicly declaring Romans chapter 10 says, you need to confess it with your mouth. So there is a starting point. That's why we do the prayer of salvation. That's why they do that is just a starting point. You are deciding it in your heart. The goodness of God, Romans chapter two is making you repent. Now you are right. You need to walk this thing out. You are 100% right, Tyler, but but just be careful that we don't get into earning now our salvation. The Jesus chapter two makes it abundantly clear that we do not earn our salvation. It is impossible to earn your salvation. Jesus left heaven and came to earth and gave end all be all, which Tyler, I completely agree with you on that. Let's just be careful not to make it. And to now I receive the free gift. Now I have to give all this effort. No, there's actually grace in it. And when your heart is to truly give your life to Jesus, there are things that are going to want to change. Like that gentleman that just said a second ago, like man, my urge for drugs and alcohol is gone. I had that same thing when I gave my life to Christ. Other urges did not leave. I could promise you that. Those are the things I had to work out my own salvation. You're quoting the part in Philippians chapter two, I believe it is, where we need to work out our salvation. Absolutely that there should be fruit out of our life. Absolutely. But fruit only happens after that thing has taken root. And now it begins to grow. Think about a tree. You have to put the seed in the ground. And then the tree is going to grow. And then fruit comes from it. When I give my life to Christ, I'm not going to automatically just have all of this fruit of the spirit. There's things that the Holy Spirit is going to do within me. My job is just to stay in that same heart of me giving my life to Christ. My job is to say, Lord, my day is your day. My life is your life. The behavior modification comes after that as roots go deep. This tree begins to grow and fruit comes out of my life. If you would have met me after I gave my life to Christ on August 27th,
2007, the next week, there wasn't a lot of fruit. The next six months there wasn't a lot of fruit. There were sayings I was still doing with, man, I got to be careful here what I'm about to say. Let me take a sip of this Celsius. Let's get into the rest of the episode. I'm going to pick up on this on the other side. [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] (engine revving) - Okay, so there's things beginning up where I was just at, that I was still working out, right? But anything I was like, "Moon, I need to do this." It didn't, trying to think how to say this. The things I surrendered to him is where God's grace met me. And again, I'm not saying you didn't say, you said, "Oh, say these magic words, it's more than that." Yeah, it's living a life, but it's not magic words, it's a prayer. When I pray, it's not magic words, it's connecting my heart to God. When I surrender my life to Christ, in the same way I surrender my day to Christ, it's just a conscious thing of like, "This is what I'm doing." So that's not minimized the salvation prayer, right? Let's not minimize that starting prayer by any means, but let's also not just be like,
"Well, now you gotta do all this stuff." No, well, you only have to do a surrender your life. That's it. Lord, how would you want to live your life through me today? Lord, how could I engage my faith in this situation today? Lord, how could I serve your people today? That's what it becomes right now. If there's people, Tyler, I want to say this too, if there are people that are just trying to do this as a get out a hell-free card, their heart isn't genuine. And you're right, those words will mean nothing if your heart isn't genuine. We all know people, right? We all know people who have said random things to God just to try to be selfish and get their own way. God's not honoring that anyhow. But I believe when your heart is genuine, that salvation prayer is a star. It is renouncing everything dark and demonic that I have ever done, anything selfish of where I've put myself before everybody else and put myself on the throne of my life. It is renouncing all of that and it is giving my life to Christ. There is a word action that has to happen and that's why the salvation prayer is there. If you've never accepted Jesus, you're like, "Hey, I want to do this salvation prayer."
Pando makes it incredibly easy with the button right below me that says accept Christ or salvation, I'd forget exactly what it says. The other one's subscribed, so do that as well. That has nothing to do with heaven, that's nothing to do with giving your life to Christ. But the other one does. So I hear your heart, but at the same time, let's not turn it into behavior modification through effort. Let's keep it as this. It's just the first step in a life surrendered to Jesus because those fruits in those first several months, years of my life that I had dealt with, man, it wasn't there yet that I would have fruit years later that could point to me working out my salvation with God. And what God's doing in my life right now, things that he's doing in my life today, there's probably not gonna be fruit of that sanctification for a little while, doesn't mean I'm not saved, doesn't mean I'm not in the Kingdom of God, doesn't mean that I'm not, my name is not in the Lamb's Book of Life that we talked about a couple of episodes ago. I forget the name of it, I'm sure it was really good. Oh, you have to own it. I talk a lot, if you want more on this, go watch that episode, you have to own it. I talk a lot about salvation, eternity, the way to the Father, the way to heaven,
all of that kind of stuff. I talk a ton about it in that. But today, today we're going back to Hebrews 11 and we're talking about this. I want you to stick with me here. Before I get into it, I wanna encourage you, don't forget to row with us. Let somebody know, let somebody know this coming into, especially man, especially if you're like a receiving center, like a CFR C man, you guys have prime area to just let someone know that's coming in that might go somewhere else, like y'all can row so much. And when I come down there, man, I'm expecting y'all too, like I'm just being honest. And especially on man, let these new guys that are coming in about to get sent to somewhere your camp, gets moved to your pod, whatever it might be. They don't, they don't know anything about champion, but you know, Hey, I watched this one episode that is speaking directly to what you're going to. Hey, you need some peace, man. Listen, we go ride Harley's or we ride a horse or we ride a four brother, whatever it might be. Hey, you need to just calm a little bit. You want to listen to some good music? What are you doing? You're telling them, or you're picking up a row, you're rowing with us in that way. Let somebody know back home, man. Hey, go check out this church. Go do this. Yeah, anyhow, so, but today we're talking about leaving and inheritance, which goes right along with what we're talking about, rowing together. If you've never heard us talk about it, maybe I should just briefly hit it. When we talk about rowing together, we look at champion church as a massive rowboat, okay? We look at it as a massive rowboat. And everyone who calls champion church home, right? And you could do that as well. If you're hitting subscribe, I know everybody hits subscribe because it's called champion home, but you're saying, Hey, I want to be poured into here. But if you are champion church is one of my churches, like that is my and you could have a couple, right? And then, but if you're like, man, this is my whole life. This is, this is my people.
This is my brand. This is, this is all of us together. So think of it like a big boat. We have seats for everybody, right? But in this boat, everyone has to pick up an ore and row with us. That's the only way this thing moves forward. The only way that people see and hear and do it is if we pick it up and row together, right? We do that on a corporate level is what I would call that on a corporate level. That is what we do because on a corporate level, we could do so much more than what we could just do individually. But this is the shift for this week's message. But track with me here, that does not minimize what you do individually, right? That does not minimize what you do individually. All of it together is what we are doing. So you need the individual side. I'll use my Celsius can for that example. You need my individual side, but you also need the corporate side where we row together without this, this feels isolated. Without this, this doesn't even work. Does that make sense? So using that kind of as an illustration on it, you have to have an individual side. And I'm talking about leaving an inheritance. Now, Hebrews chapter 11, it were in verses 11 through 20. I brought my notes again today, trying to be smart. It says it was by faith that Isaac promised blessings for the future of his two sons, Jacob and Esau. It was by faith that Jacob, when he was old and dying, blessed each other, each of Joseph's sons, and bowed in worship as he leaned on a staff. And then it was by faith that Joseph, when he was about to die, said confidently that the people of Israel would leave Egypt, even commanded them to take his bones with them when they left. So three stories of what the writer of Hebrews is, is, is highlighting at this point, we've been going through all of Hebrews chapter 11 over the last several months, really less, probably nine or ten episodes. And so what we see here is this, is that these guys, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph, of all the things, of all the things that the writer of Hebrews could highlight, he highlights them thinking about someone in the future generations, them thinking about someone down the line. Essentially this, our faith we know, and we've been preaching this week after week after week, even that episode I just talked about, you have to own it. We've been talking about our own lives of walking with faith in our own lives, that we can be inspired and encouraged by other people. But at the end of the day, we have to have faith for ourself. We have to trust Jesus for ourself. We have to ask the question, how can I engage in my trust in Jesus in this situation? Guys, I'm, man, yesterday was a very stressful, trying day for me, right? Just in life and different things, in life of the church, all that kind of stuff. I always say, life is always life,
and baby, life is always life. And in the other state was one of those days for me, we're from morning to night, I felt my chest tight, and stress, and anxiety, and how is this going to play out? What are we going to do here? This was unexpected, those kinds of things. Multiple times throughout the day, I had to say, okay, okay, Lord, how can I engage in my faith in this? How can I trust you in this? How can I lean on you in this? How can I cast my cares to you in this situation over and over and over again yesterday with several different scenarios? Lord, how can I engage in my trust in you in this? All of that is necessary. All of it is. When you say the prayer of salvation. that denouncing the sin and darkness and things that you have done in selfishness, right? That has to be personal. But there's another side to faith that our trust and Jesus should be mature enough. Hear my heart. I don't know if mature is the right word. Complete enough, whole enough? That it's not just for me, that we look around and we say, what could I pass on to somebody else? See, that's the thing that blows my mind. Hebrews 11, 23, 22, talks about Isaac, Jacob, Joseph. They all did some really incredible, now they had some jacked up lives for sure, but they did some incredible stuff. None of that is mentioned here. Doesn't mean it doesn't matter, but it's not mentioned here in Hebrews 11. What's mentioned is them leaving something for someone else down the road. So that's what we have to look at.
Am I leaving a legacy? Am I leaving an inheritance? Proverbs chapter 13, verse 22 says this, you may have heard this one before, if not, this is the first time you're hearing this. Man, this is a great verse to have highlighted. A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children. But the sinner's wealth is laid up for the righteous. A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children, but the sinner's wealth is laid up for the righteous. Notice those two words there, inheritance and wealth. So how do we pass down an inheritance to people? How do we pass down a legacy that's bigger than us? Is this word, you ready? And don't check out on me, hear me out, it's wealth. It is material wealth. And it is spiritual wealth. Now you might be saying, Trevor, I don't know if you know this, but you're talking to people in the Department of Corrections. Wealth is not something that's probably common in the Department of Corrections. Not that people don't, so please don't hear something I'm saying, but I understand it's not like you're just walking around with a whole bunch to just give away or to pass down. I understand too, several of you that do have children, maybe the relationship there is fractured. If you have a good relationship with your kids, that is a blessing. But that's not the majority of the stories that I hear by any means.
So it's kind of like, okay, Trevor, why would you preach on something like this to the DOC family of champion church? Here's why, because it's in the Bible. And biblical principles do not stop at those gates and those bars and that barbed wire in that number. No, here's the thing, inheritance there, that word inheritance in Proverbs 13, 22, is actually a verb meaning to cause someone to inherit, to cause someone to inherit means it's intentional. The word wealth there is referring to just something being stored up with no intentionality of where to go. So here's what I just wanna say. What is something? Because here's what you can give away. You can give away material and you can give away spiritual. Material obviously is less important than spiritual. We know that. And you might say, Trevor, I don't have a bunch of money. That's okay. That's never the point. Think about the kid who gave five loaves and two fish. It was never the amount, it's the heart. So the question becomes this. I'm not gonna harp on this one long, but I do need to say this for sure. Is there a way that you could bless someone else? Is there a way you can bless a brother or a sister without an agenda of you owe me? I understand, I don't, I don't,
I understand it's maybe not the right word. I don't necessarily get all the ins and outs of jail life. And I'm never gonna pretend I do. The very little bit I've been associated with it through, through all of this. I've realized it's a lot of, I do this for you. You do this for me. This happens, you owe me. I owe you all of that kind of stuff. Essentially like the commerce world would happen outside of those gates. Just happening inside of those gates. All right. And not again, I've got to be careful to say here, I'm not trying to get flagged. But the point is this. You're like, well, I don't have an, oftentimes we think of inheritance of what happens after you die. It's true, but all three of these of what it just talked about, all three of them specifically happened while they were still living. They intentionally made it happen while they were still living. That's the difference maker. Okay, let me use this random, random example. Let's just say someone younger comes in, someone new comes in, and you know they need, I'm just gonna use this as an example, shoes.
Okay, they need some better shoes, they need shoes, whatever. You have the capability to pass something down to somebody who is younger or someone who is newer in that, whereas not just a giving of a blessing, it's actually passing something to another generation that says, hey listen, I see you, I see the vulnerability you're in, you don't owe me anything, I just wanna pass this down to you to help you get ahead. I just wanna pass this down to you to set you up, or you don't have to walk the same path that I walked. I just wanna pass this down to you, to maybe help you, maybe if you had this, you don't have to make the same mistakes that I made. That is passing down an inheritance. There is something about it. Now listen, when we are just generous there's something about being generous and blessing other people. But there is also something about seeing someone and another generation, someone that is younger than you, somebody that is lesser than you in maybe years or age or maturity or experience, and saying let me pass this down, there's not an agenda here. I'm doing this because Jesus Christ, the Son of God sits on the throne of my life, and what he gave me, I can never give, and so I wanna give something to you
that you can never do the way God got me ahead in life. I wanna do something to get you ahead inside the DOC here. Does that make sense? I hope I'm making this clear. The inheritance piece is passing something down to a younger generation. I would imagine several of you have people in there that are younger than you. Can you pass something down? Can you pass something down? Just to be a blessing, to say listen, I see you, and I wanna help you in this way. It is the material side, but then of course, the more important is the spiritual side. There's people that are coming in around you that are younger than you that need your wisdom. They need your wisdom. Some of you have been in the system long enough, you know how things go. Could you be the person that's a mentor to someone that just passes down to somebody younger than you? Can you be someone that shows someone else who God is? What are you doing? You're passing down an inheritance to a younger generation. Could you create opportunities for someone that maybe you had to grind your way through? Could you pass some wisdom down, some encouragement down, something down, and I get this is a little bit more of a, I try to get messages that are broader,
everybody can necessarily relate to. This one's for those that might be a little bit more seasoned. That might be, you know, you've maybe walked with God a little bit longer. Could you pass it down? Could you pass things down? I think about, man, Zach out there in Potosi. Zach was younger, and he had these incredible gentlemen, like LA out there, that would just, could be around them and just pour into them. That was one of the coolest things for me, is that I got to see, it was like a younger generation. Then you got this older generation, and I'm not even talking about like old, you understand I'm just older than. And what were they doing? They were passing this inheritance down to this kid. You know what I mean? I don't wanna tell you to be like, I'm not a kid, you hear my heart. Passing it down, you're doing something biblical here, that while you're still alive, hey listen, here's what I've learned, let me pour into you. Not if you better do this, let me pour into you. Hey, I saw how you acted that, what do you think? Can I pour in to you? Yes, there is a material side, okay? You can't take that out of the Bible, all right? When I get it, everybody can't do something.
Everybody can't do everything larger, but everybody can do something. I do believe that, to set somebody else to be a blessing, as an inherent passing down. Not just to give, but it's a specific generation to generation. I hope I'm making that clear. Then the other thing is, can I pass down spiritual wealth as an inheritance? Can I pour into somebody? Listen, let me tell you, in my experience, I haven't seen it where you just walk up and you're like, hey, I'm gonna mentor you. It's just giving little seeds, little things, little parts. I wrote it down like this. Plant something you may never see grow. Plant something in somebody's heart you may never see grow. There's three questions you could ask, are you ready? What have I learned about God that somebody else needs to know? Who is benefiting from my relationship from Jesus right now? What can I begin passing on today, even from where I am? There's so much, ladies and gentlemen, we could do this, especially on the spiritual side. You see somebody, maybe they're walking through some heartbreak that's going on back home, and you've walked through that. Hey man, let me, let me. Hey, man, let me just help you. This is what encouraged me when I was in a season just like that. You're literally helping that person row in their life because you're saying, "Hey, I've been there. I get it. Let me help you where you don't have to start at the same place I started. Let me just pour into you just a little bit."
Man, that's what we get to do. I think it's a simple word today. That's how you can pass down inheritance. I can remember people in my own life that have passed things down to me that have stuck with me, that have forever changed how I've saw God, that forever changed how I walked with Jesus, that forever changed how I love my family because somebody passed down an inheritance. It went after they died. It was in the moment of somebody older, more seasoned, spoke into my life. It still happens to this. Guys, I have a Monday morning, 9 a.m. mentoring call that an inheritance spiritually is being passed down to me by this gentleman that every single Monday he is pouring into me, speaking into my life. It happens big. It helps, not happens, it helps so much that I can grow and water things in my life so I can have abundant fruit for people to taste and see that the Lord is good. So again, material wise, is there something I could pass down to bless somebody in a younger generation with no agenda? And then is there something spiritual that I could pass down? I know what somebody is going through. Let me just, man, let me just speak into you with this advice. This is just what I saw. This is what helped me and just listen, just sow the seed, just sow the seed. Paul says, some sow, some water, some harvest. We never honestly know sometimes what we're doing, but could you pass down an inheritance to somebody in the younger generation? I hope today is a little bit different word, but I hope today has spoke to you, encouraged you. I love all of you so much. What an honor to always be able to speak into your life. And let me make sure I haven't. Okay, there's one I want to say to confirm, but we haven't confirmed to you. I will say this FSP out here in Florida. I heard from you. Come on, Union, where you at? Come on, Union. But I heard from FSP this week. I don't know if we're going to make something happen. I'm pretty, I'm pretty, look at the smile on my face. I'm pretty stoked about it. That one, and there's another one in Texas that I really want to go to pretty bad. But y'all got to get me in there. All right, so Texas death row, reach out to me. There's, there's one out there specifically that a lot of y'all are housed in. I want to come out there. I know y'all watch, be a part of it. I want to come out there, spend a day with you, whatever, see how we can make it happen. And yeah, until next time, God bless all of you. I love all of you so much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Next week is a year we've been on this app. Thanks for rolling with us, man. Thank you for when, when, when you see champion trending, it's all of us trending. It's all of us to all of, I can't talk today, y'all. Goodness.
You know what happened this morning? I overslept for the first time in I don't even know when. I know it hasn't happened since I've been going to F 45, which is the gym I go to. So almost four years, I've literally not overslept until this morning. So it has me all kind of like all over the place. But all right, y'all bless you guys. I love you. Oh, new thing coming to the show. Later in there, I'm introducing you guys and ladies and gents to Julian and Adam. Y'all have said y'all wanted food stuff. Julian was a part of our church for a while. And Adam was just kind of man, I met him through Julian, some younger dudes that are doing stuff on YouTube. And they said, Hey, we would love for you to use our videos on, on the champion church show. You're going to see that in here, at least for the next couple of weeks, you're going to do that. And I've got some cool things. I actually going to sit down with my brother, my older brother in the next couple of weeks. It won't be until I'm back from from traveling. And in mid. Yeah, it won't be until I'm back from that. But some coming down the road, there's going to be some cool things. And yeah, I'm excited about it. I'm really excited. But you'll see this new segment all about food, all about food coming into the, the can you preach that. So love you all. God bless you. We'll talk to you soon. Is there an item on a fast food menu that is so secret that even the employees don't know about it? I don't know. That's over here to find out. We're trying to see if the employees even know what those items are, how annoyed they are at us when we order it. And if the food even tastes good enough to be considered like a good fast food menu item, you have a lot of fast food places to hit. So let's go see it. Let's go try it out. Let's go. The first fast food restaurant is McDonald's, where we tried to order the land air and sea burger. The land air and sea. She's asking the manager. - Okay, yeah. - What is a CMM for? - C, erin land, it's like a beef patty fish fillet. And then, I don't know what that is. Are you from Florida? - I'm not from Florida, no. - Is it good? - We're about to find out. - Yeah, but we appreciate it.
Not from around here. - I gave you a big pack of free. So, let it shout me out if you going on that t-shirt. - You got it, he got two. What was your name? - Tony. - Thank you, Tony, appreciate it. - Yo, shout out, Tony. - Shout out, Tony. - I showed them this image. Like, I'm pretty sure it's an actual thing that I've seen on an ad. But, she gave it to us a free egg mac and then it was one belay-a-fish patty, one chicken patty. Came out since $3.92. - That's crazy. See if they got it right. - Ready chat. - Oh, wow. - It looks a little dry. - Yeah, it's got a lot of sauce. - I don't know how much sauce to put it. And it puts you to be patty. - I know, that's kind of crazy. So, how our pointing system is gonna work. Each fast food location is gonna receive a point if they actually know what the secret menu item is and we don't have to explain it to them. We will also give them a point
if the customer service was good 'cause we ordered some weird things for this video. And then they will receive a point if the food actually tasted. Whichever item has the highest amount of points at the end has the best secret menu. Let's get a cross-section. - Let's see it. - Oh geez. - Oh geez, you're butchering it, bro. Let's see it. - Oh geez. - All right, cheers. - Cheers. - I wouldn't order it. - I wouldn't order it. One, 'cause the employees are gonna look at you weird and ask if you're from the area. - Yeah. - It's just kind of bland with everything. - And I don't trust finishing my fast food place. Sorry if you like that. I know we have some tuna lovers out there, but I don't know. It just doesn't taste the best, but I'm gonna give it another bite. - These sauce is helping it for sure. McDonald's did not know what the land errand sea burger was, so they do not receive a point for that. - No. - Customer service was good though.
- Customer service was good. - So I say they receive a point for that. - Okay, customer service, yeah. - Yeah. - Would you have it receive a point or are you gonna have a point for the taste? - No. - I would agree with you. I would say no. - No. - That's all right. - We'll on to our next. - Fast food item. - Yeah, we gotta go all the way to the BK. Have it your way. - All right, let's go get it. - Hopefully we could have it our way. - I don't know, we'll see. - So we drove down to Burger King and got ourselves done. - This sh*t side burger. - So what? (laughing) - This sh*t side burger. It's like a secret menu burger. It's like a four by four, four patties, four cheese. - Sorry, we don't have that. - Do you guys have like just a burger? I could do a four patties, four cheese. - So you want like a quadruple whopper with cheese?
- Yes. - But I just don't like that. That's sh*t. - Oh, bacon and the sauce. - Bacon and then the sauce. - Anything else do you do that? - Just the sh*t side burger, that'll be it. - Sorry, your service is gonna be 12, 66. - All right, thank you. - They are not happy with this. - I know, yeah. - Imagine the person buying this is like, I don't get whatever the person who's in front of us ordered it, yeah, they got this sh*t side burger. - Hi. (laughing) - It's like a thing online. - It's called? - Yeah. - It's like a real thing. (laughing) - Thank you very much. - Two pounds. - Hey, awesome. Here we have the swivet burger. I think it's called that 'cause if you eat enough of these, you will have a heart attack and it will be self-induced. Let's get a cross section on this bad boy. - Let's get it.
- Oh my goodness. - Ready? - Yep. - Wow. - It's gonna be so dry, I already know. - Really? - Yeah. - Doesn't look that dry. - That kinda does actually. - The employees did not know what it was when we pulled up. - And they started laughing when they started laughing ordered the, yeah. - So they do not get a point for that 'cause they did not know what we ordered. Customer service was all right. The girl at the window was friendly and sweet. - Yeah. - The manager, no, he was kind of rude. He was like, oh, we don't serve that here anymore. - Yeah. - You know, like. - Yeah, it probably hit 'em close to home, so. - Yeah. - But we got hats. - Yeah, we did get hats. - So I'd say they get a point. - I'll do it. - Let's try it. - Yeah.
- I'm gonna take off the tomato. - Ready? - Yeah. - I'm gonna. - Cheers. - Here. - Here's how you improve on this. (upbeat music) - Just get yourself a Whopper just with one patty. This is too much, way too much. - I thought it was gonna taste worse, but this actually tastes not bad. - I'm kind of enjoying it. It's a lot of protein. What's wrong with you? - Do I hear that? It's the sound of glory. - Are you gonna eat that whole half? - Mm-hmm. - Not in the same. It's too much meat for me. - I'm down to your burger and then you'll have eight patties. - Eight patties. - That's crazy. Onto the next one. - No. If you did it, you gotta take a bite of it, no? - All right, then I have to take a bite like this way. - A long way. - You told me did you enjoy that?
The whole point of the secret menu item is to eat what you ordered which is four patties on a burger Which is too much so I'm gonna say zero points for taste I give it a half point because I'll say the taste wasn't that bad It's better than McDonald's. I'm excited for this next one. Me too. Wait, which one is it? I used to work there. So hopefully when I asked for this crazy item, they would just give it to find out They'll hope I know you're at your home life. This right here is slowly gonna come down to if the employees experienced or not How's it going? Can I do a quesarito? It's a burrito, but like the cheese gets melted in the press like halfway Yes, I've worked here as well All right, it's gonna be cheese on half of it and then you fold it and then put it in the press so the cheese melts Yeah, perfect. Yeah What's going on then? Are you are you doing good? Sorry for being so complicated White rice please scoop of black beans honey hot chicken corn and cheese and that should be it Thank you very much. You said you guys. Thank you. Appreciate it. It was good singing. I lady was not happy the employee Yeah, and they're like I don't think we're allowed to do this. There are some things we aren't allowed to do But that is not one of them, but let's get it Next up we got the quesarito it is Chipotle burrito they grab a tortilla put cheese on half of it folded in half put it on the press Cheese melts stretch it open with all the melted cheese and then you order it the same way you would a burrito. Yes Um, I worked at Chipotle five six years And I knew what this was anytime somebody came in to order it We would hate them for ordering it, but we knew what it was we knew it wasn't officially on the menu Yeah, she also did mention she was new. I did see one of my old coworkers there shot out Dave He was the one on mine and I asked him for it He would have known exactly kind of newer so they didn't know what it was even though They said that they weren't allowed to do it, but I give the customer service a zero Yeah, they just seem a little upset. Yeah about it So I'm gonna give customer service a zero even though they did do what we asked for They're like we aren't allowed to do this and they didn't even know what it was, but let's try the taste Let's dig in that's digging all right, but first here's another little secret that I like to do
It's a vinaigrette gas And then if you want it to be a little bit more thicker consistency you put the sour cream in it And if you're not a big fan of sour cream, it doesn't matter because you can't even taste it He wants me to try it. I'm not gonna try it. Cheers. It looks like it. Nope before you put your sauce on it Please still cheers cheers. No cheers let's dig in So I ordered this how I would order I'm not sure how similar an order yours is or not It's very similar. It is pretty good I give it a point for on the scale for being good I give it a phone for taste the employees are gonna give you a hard time Especially if they don't have any experience with this. Yeah on to the next one. I'm not done yet. The next fast food location is trickfully So I saw something on TikTok. I don't know if it was like the chicken and waffle No, it's a buffalo chicken mac and cheese. I don't know if you guys like have ever could make something like it Buffalo chicken what we can do is we could order chicken nuggets for you Perfect the mac and cheese. All right, and then you just put it together Perfect Thank you. Thank you. Yeah, let's do it. I mean low-key. She knew what it was. She knew the TikTok, too All right, secret menu item number or something four four three four five four three Four for Chick-fil-A's Buffalo chicken mac and cheese. Yes, we went in We went in we went in and the cashier knew what we were talking about. Yes, you did She did tell us that but she cannot assemble it for us because she knew what it was but she couldn't make it for us I'm gonna give half a point for their knowledge on the secret menu item because compared to McDonald's and Burger King and Chipotle they did not know at all so this is gonna be fun customer service though I would say like she gets a full point. She was super sweet. She knew exactly what we were talking about She's like hey, no, where are you like, you know, I got her for you didn't say no where she said my pleasure No, trick-fil-A sauce All right, let's get the bowl then we get the nuggets don't know good We're gonna pour this right on top Mac and cheese, baby. Ready? Oh We do another buffalo Don't be it in don't don't don't there it is our final product. It looks a little off like a little sloppy
Yeah, it looks sloppy for sure, but I mean we know the ingredients that are in it. It's not gonna be bad Can you taste the buffalo? A little bit. It's too salty for me. Salty. I don't know if it was my piece of fried chicken that I've weighed so much salt on it. You think someone grabbed a little nugget and sprinkled a little bit of salt on it? Maybe. I don't like it. I might be honest. Neither do I. Seems better than what it is. Yeah, that's enough for me. I say zero out of one point possible for taste. We can't taste the buffalo. The mac and cheese and the nuggets are good by themselves, but all together with this. Team is better than what it is. We got three more places to try. Yeah, let's try them out. It's hopefully they're not as bad as this. What's next? So you got some steak and shake, baby? Shake the snake? Shake the snake? Yeah. Let's get it. Alright, so I saw something online that you guys had a 7x7 hamburger. Yes, we did. Ooh. Yeah, that's perfect. Yeah, what if do one of those and that'll be it? Alright, allow 1671. All right. Thank you so much. Our first or first one, were they like off the bat? They know what it was. How often do people order the 7x7? More than you think. Really? You actually have somebody from the fish camp that orders it and then a few other people who do it regularly. Wow. This is a heavy bag. I already feel disgusting. Yeah. This is steak and shakes 7x7 originally came out in like 2012 or something. And at the time it costs exactly 777. This is the first place we went to when we went through the drive-through, we're like, "Hey, y'all got the 7x7?" She's like, "Yes!" We're all like, "Yeah." There's no way. I was surprised. So that means they end up receiving a point and then I think the customer service was also good. It was really good. Yeah. So they have two points so far. Yeah. Now we just got to try this out, see if it tastes good and then if it could get a point as well, that'll be the first secret menu item with all three points. Yes. Cross-section? Time for the cross-section. Like butter. Looks pretty juicy. It does look pretty juicy. Imagine what our ancestors think like having a fight for food. We're pulling up. Hey, could I get a 7x7 tree, bro? She said it's pretty popular. Cheers. Oh, I'm gonna top greasy that. I could just...
Okay, maybe I can't... Oh, we have one drop. Gotta drop. All right. Let's go. I thought it was gonna be super dry, but it's juicy. It's tasty. This is insane. This is the hard-to-tight burger if I've ever seen one. Like the grease is coating my mouth. Like you could probably fry a piece of chicken in my mouth right now if it was hot enough with how much grease. I still think it's tasty though. Yeah. Could I eat the whole thing? No. But I think it gets a point. I think steak and shake might be the first place that we've been since today that has all three. Yep. All right. We got a few more places to try out. Hopefully their secret menu items are insane. Let's go. We're gonna have to find out though. This next location is Taco Bell where we ordered the Superman burrito. Do you want us a green burrito? No, it's like a secret menu item thing. It's a cheesy double beef burrito with tortilla strips guacamole and potatoes. You don't really like that. We don't train ourselves on the day so we can bring it up. Okay. Thank you. Sweet. Thank you very much. Wow. Is there guacamole in there? Yes. We have the Taco Bell Superman burrito. Ah. She did not know what the Superman burrito was. No. She's like, you mean the Supreme burrito? We told her it is essentially a cheesy double beef burrito with additional tortilla strips, guacamole and potatoes. So they did not know about the Superman burrito. But they were nice. They were nice. I think? Yeah. I give them a one for the family. Yeah. I give them a one for friend and this is zero for their knowledge on the secret menu item itself. One for friendliness. And let's see. I just got a weird, like, plastic-y aftertaste on that one. I'm going to rate it on a zero for taste. Yeah, it's not the best burrito I thought about. I'd rather get the grilled cheese burrito. I love the grilled cheese burrito. That is good. I do like the potatoes though. I do like the guac. It adds a nice little something else to it. But zero out of one from each of us on flavor. Not worth ordering as a secret menu item. No. It's kind of mid. It is. Yeah. Um. What are you doing? Nothing. I watched the footage about it. I know. You'll see. What did you do to my food? I didn't do anything. You saw me cut it. We've been here this whole time. I didn't do anything. Why are you laughing when I took a bite? You'll see when you added it. I didn't do anything to you for real. I promise on everything. On everything I did I do it.
And I don't know. I want to just make that statement. What do you do? I just give it 10 minutes till the life seems kicking. I'm just kidding. All right. All right. Onto our final one. Can I get the neat mountain, please? Yes, please That'll be it. Thank you. Hello I'm good. How are you? Hettin in there Busy bad busy or good busy? That's good. Thank you. Thank you The meat mountain can I get one order of the meat mountain with two pieces of chicken tenders roast turkey ham Corn beef smoke brisket Angus steak roast beef peppercorn as well as Swiss cheese and cheddar cheese It looks like way too much bro. I'm gonna be honest, but we pulled up to the drive-thru We asked for the meat mountain. They're like one meat mountain coming up Yeah, they know it customer service was good and they were friendly so it's four out of four This might be staking trick if it tastes better than staking trick, but I don't think it will why not? I think it's just gonna be way too much ready for this This looks so disgusting. Cheers You know what it's not as bad as I thought it was gonna be me too I thought it was gonna be super super like dry and just way too salty But it's not bad it's not bad, but I can't get the idea of it through my head Does all of these meats or what now why America I guess what I ever ordered again heck no I don't know she's cool. Hi No, no, no, I wanted to see how far I would go meet bits So much meat and for what for nothing. It's a waste zero zero. Yeah, it's not getting a point for taste It's not worth it. Which means staking shakes seven by seven is the winner Oh, yeah If you guys want to try a secret menu item that it's actually insanely good and it'll be on the menu You're not going to be confusing to order and customer service should be good I'd visit staking shake. Yeah, make sure you eat it at home and you have running water

But before I do, I confirmed it, or actually Chaplain Beckett confirmed it, I think it said it in the intro, Mary and Ci, I'm coming back January 2nd, Mary and Ci, that stands for a correctional institution. I'm coming back January 2nd, but anyhow, can you preach that? A lot of you guys ask about hunting and showing that kind of stuff, it's a little bit harder for me to do that. So what I did find is these massive trophy rooms, this guy has a huge huge huge amount of troph rooms, which is really cool of all the animals that he's harvested and all that kind of stuff. But what I thought about is this, and you're going to hear him tell stories in it, when you see the beauty of the animal that's mounted in the taxidermy and all that kind of stuff, and I love that he does, is he shares about the chase, and here's what I thought. What this guy chases is what fills that room.
What you chase with your heart is what will fill your life. If you are, if your, why is my heat on in my truck, gosh, it's a warm in here. What you chase fills your life, so chase the right thing, man. Jesus said seek first, chase first, the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. The things that our hearts desire so much is just on the other side of seeking the right thing. And here's what I've learned. When you seek the right thing, meaning the kingdom, I'm a Jesus guy obviously, seek to just be the salt and light, right, where people can taste and see that God is good. When you seek the right thing, it reorients things in your life. We were talking about earlier about the behavior modification, just chase the right thing. How can I pass something down to a younger generation that's seeking the kingdom? How can I pass something down of wisdom to somebody younger, or less mature than me? That's seeking the kingdom. And what you chase is what will fill your life. Jesus deer right here for Georgia in the area where he ends a nice deer. He scored a little over 160. This deer is six and a half years old. At four and a half, he broke his right side completely off. Five and a half, I was going to try to kill him and he broke half of his other beam. The following year, when I hunted him, every time I would hunt, this deer would never show up. And I couldn't figure out where he was bedding or what he was doing or what I was doing wrong. And I watched him and he was basically catching my scent when I would come in to the stand. So my wife, luckily it was close to the holidays, she bought me one of those quiet cat bikes. The first time I took that bike in, I was able to catch the deer. And I'm convinced it was because I wasn't putting my scent on the ground. This deer was checking, sent checking me every time I would come in and either that was a huge coincidence or that tactic were on this particular deer.
All right, welcome back to Whitetail Cribs. This might be one of the most unique Cribs episodes we've ever done. We're going to knock on the door, see who's here. [MUSIC PLAYING] I'm Chris Whitley and welcome to my white tail crib. (upbeat music) Again, welcome to my white tail crib. We're here today in Pine Mountain, Georgia on my farm and we're standing here in an old dairy barn when my wife and I bought this farm several years ago. This was a work in dairy farm. It was established in 1900 and I had several people from the community stop and said, hey, we heard this place switched hands. My grandfather used to work here. Milk cows here, my dad worked here. I know a couple people that were friends of mine that worked here as kids and it was really important to the community that this place stayed here. So it looked a lot different. We remodeled it. It was important to me that we kept the feel that it was an old building. We had an old home place out front that probably was built early 1900s and it had some good bones in it. We basically took that house down by hand and all the trim work and woodwork that you see here is all from that old house. So we tried not to buy any wood
or put anything in here that wasn't from the old home place. So all our trim work, our flooring and everything we did, we tried to do with all reclaimed lumber. One of the things I wanted to show you here in the foyer was this light, Chandelier. I'd always wanted to have one of these and Justin, my farm manager and I, we made this. He and I did, we used a lot of elk sheds that I had found over the years and a lot of white tail sheds in there. So this is a real special piece to me, one that we made ourselves. Anyway, I wanted to share that and show it to you. We'll talk about this rhino right here that we have in the foyer. This is the only green hunt that I've ever done. This was an idea that a guy that I had known had went to South Africa and he had done a green hunt and it was a really cool experience. We, something that was similar to a dart. We had a couple of veterinarians that were there. They were with us the whole time to make sure the animal was safe. I thought this would be a pretty quick hunt. This ended up taking us all day. These animals, they're big, they're fast, their hearing is incredible. They're eyesight, not so good, but they can smell really, really well.
So we ended up chasing this thing around for quite some time, probably seven, eight hours after we started hunting them, we had an opportunity to get a shit on them. In the picture right here is basically right before we darted the rhino that this is me and then you can see the rhinos looking right at me. One thing about this is a pretty exhilarating hunt because these animals have a tendency to charge after you encounter them. So luckily this one did not do that, but we were able to dart this animal, recovered him, measured him, took a lot of photos of him and Kanati was able to do a really, really good job at creating this replica. Another one of my favorite hunts from South Africa was this lion hunt that I did a couple, three years ago. It was a really fun, exhilarating hunt to hunt something that at the same time is trying to hunt you is a little different type of hunt than what I've been used to. So this was a really good hunt right here beside the line. We've got a giraffe, this is a chocolate giraffe, which is a pretty rare animal. We've got behind it a water book, probably one of my favorite South African animals is a sable. I've had actually taken three trips to South Africa and I think the first trip I was able to harvest that sable there and the Oryx was a really nice hunt. These impalas here, the brown ones are real common
and I was able to also harvest a black impala. So those are out of the three trips. I've been to South Africa, I've only seen one of those. One of my favorite animals to hunt was the kudu, just a really majestic animal, really incredible the size of these things when you're there with them. Just in Yala right here, that's a beautiful animal. I was able to harvest him on the first trip to South Africa. We have a grant soundalope and then a zebra and that's a really big elundra out there. So I was able to get the spiral grand slam, the African spiral, when we were there on the first trip. We had a great time. One of the things about hunting South Africa that I enjoy the most was just, we were able to make some really good friends while we were there and that's what kept me going back. They actually, the smits when they come here to Atlanta and they do their hunting shows, they stay with us. And one of the things that I enjoy most about hunting, regardless of where it is, is just the relationships and friendships that you build with people that tend to last a lifetime. Another one I don't wanna skip over is right here, this hyena, it's a really fun hunt. This hyena and the civic cat that we've talked about a minute ago, these are really where you're down because you're hunting all day
and then you have to go and hunt most of the evenings. But this was a really, really fun hunt. Similar to hunting coyotes in this part of the country, but another really fun animal to hunt. This was a really special hunt for me. If you look over here, you see this little stuffed mountain line and it has Colorado on its ear. And this was one of the first hunts that my wife gave me. She gave this to me for Christmas. It was really special. She booked the whole thing, did it all herself. On this wall right here, I have five bucks. I really had such a love for whitetail deer since I was a young kid. I always thought it'd be super cool to raise some deer about six years ago. I bought a piece of property in Alabama, high-fenced it. And these bucks right here, I raised from fawns, kept the farm probably about six years before I sold it. We never harvested an animal off of this farm. I had a lot of fun during that period. Just watching these deer, interacting with them. None of these three deer were not harvested. This is a two-year-old. These are a set of sheds that I found. This is the same buck right here as a three-year-old. This is a different buck here. This is also a three-year-old. And then these other two bucks here, this is how I found them.
They died fighting. They are locked together. You cannot get them apart. And we mounted the deer like that. I thought that was a pretty cool piece to put over the door. So these are the five deer that were from the farm and it was a great experience raising these deer. All right, so this is the moment that I know we've all been waiting for, talking about our whitetail deer. So we talked a little bit about the deer that I had raised and now let's go on to some of the deer that I've been able to harvest over the years. Probably my favorite deer to get is a big eight point. There's something about an eight point that I love. This deer right here that you see, I harvested him in Kentucky. The first velvet buck that I had ever, four by four, he's got split brow tines. Really big deer, you can see right there. I love the character in this deer. He's got a summer coat, this real thin, and it really shows off all the neck muscles and just a lot of really cool things about this deer. This deer, I was able to, the first afternoon when we hunted, it was the first time I'd ever been to Kentucky. I watched him come across a soybean field,
probably about 300, 400 yards away. I first seen him, he came straight to me. And it was a really quick hunt, but one that I'll never forget that, like I said, that's the first velvet deer that I'd ever caught. Here is just a Georgia buck that we did a little, with him jumping over a fence up here. The windmill in the back, I actually found that in a farmer's field in New Mexico, seen it out there and I went and asked the guy that owned the farm. I said, "What are you gonna do with that windmill?" And he said, "If you like windmills, I'd love for you to have it." So he gave it to me. We canceled our plane ticket home, bought a trailer, put it on a trailer and drove it all the way back from New Mexico. I'd like to bring you over here and show you this buck here. He scores 47 and 5/8. Not really, I really never have scored him. But anyway, this is the first buck that I ever seen. Probably the smallest one you've ever filmed, and probably the ugliest one, 'cause he has a pretty ugly coat on him. This deer means a lot to me. I started hunting when I was about 12 or 13 years old. This was the first buck I had ever been 16 years old. I went out and actually did everything on my own.
I found a landowner, asked him if I could come hunt his property. Didn't know a lot about deer. I mean, back then, there was no such thing as that I knew of, of quality deer management, or what deer scored, or passing deer. There just weren't many deer in this area. We're in the Pine Mountain area where I was born and raised. I was born in 1970. Prior to that, 1962, there weren't many deer around here, and the state brought in some deer from Wisconsin. A couple years later, they brought in some deer from Texas. They were very strict on hunting rules, trying to build the deer population back up to where it needed to be. But when I hunted as a kid, it was really exciting just to see a deer track. I mean, you seen a deer track and you knew, wow, there's a deer here. And you just didn't really pass any buck. The rule was it had to be four points on one side, which this one was, but I was super proud of this deer. I grew up hunting with my father and my grandfather and my uncle. We hunted a lot. We didn't get deer. My grandfather, some of the things I remember about him was, he loved the smoked cigarettes, and we would hunt, and he would just sit up there and smoke cigarettes. And in the years we hunted, he never went here,
but he would set the woods on fire. You always heard two or three strings ringing off, and he always had a good story about, you know, why he missed it or what happened. But, we had a ton of fun. It's kind of where it all started with me. I had a Mazda RX-7, if you know what that is, a little sports car. I set this deer on a pretty wide creek. It was a cold morning. The creek was probably 20 yards wide, waist deep. I set this deer, didn't wait two seconds, got out of the stand, ran across the creek, soaking wet up to here. It was freezing, drug the deer back across, put him on the hood, and my Mazda RX-7, tied him off, drove him through town, and took him to my granddad's. And it was one of the proudest moments that I've probably ever had since I've been hunting. So, about 25 years ago, a friend of mine introduced me to archery hunting. This is the bow here that I'm here right now. It's a Hoyt RX-7. I just ordered the RX-10, came in yesterday, and I'm really looking forward to going and getting it set up. But all the animals in this barn, with the exception of just a few, the first deer we talked about, that I had, with the exception of just a few of them,
I've got anything with this bow or another bow that I have. So, archery hunting is my passion. It's what I like to do. It's challenging and really something I'm glad I picked up. So, these are some Midwest deer mixed in, with a lot of deer that we've seen here at the farm. This deer, here's a deer that we've seen here at the farm. This deer is a really cool deer. We call him stickers. He has a lot of a trash. We started hunting this deer early season, and he had twice this much trash on his basis, but we ended up not being able to kill him until late December, so a lot of it had broken off. But this was a deer that we watched for several years. This deer right here, I'll tell a little story about, this is also one of our farm books right here. It's the Pollard book. We bought a piece of property with the intent to resell the property. Right after we bought it, I put a camera out, and this deer showed up. He was coming in pretty regular, but I didn't have a set up to hunt him, and this deer was really, really smart. So it was October the 26th. It was raining, I went in and put a set up, and I tried to make sure that I didn't disturb anything. I had to cut one limb that evening when I come in, that deer,
been cut or that there was a stand that had been put up but he immediately put his head up and walked away I did not see that deer again until December the 27th I'm sitting at home he is back on camera and one thing about this deer if he fed in the evening he typically fed the next morning so I was able to come December the 28th I did go in that next morning and he came out okay can you preach that a random well that guy's going fast but he's that guy's going fast hey hey he's fast he was in a hurry um anyhow a random like gecko farm in the most unique place you'll see what I'm talking about but here's the thing I'm not really into that kind of stuff I know a lot of you guys are so obviously just trying to help you and put that on there for you um but one of the things I realized is how unique unique these animals are and how um I mean like that's one of those you look at and you're like okay these things are like truly made by god right and that's what I saw going through it or whatever so here's what I thought about if these little geckos are truly made by god man how much more are you like I'm sure it can feel easy to feel like everything you do in your life is reduced down to just a number or the color of your clothes or the certain block that you're at or whatever I don't know all these different things I'm sure it's easy to feel like everything is just reduced down to that but man just remember look at all these things and how unique and gorgeous they are so are you what is this song 139 you are fearfully and wonderfully made your situation let me make sure I don't hit anybody here your situation and circumstances do not change that so if you see all of these gorgeous geckos these lizards how much more are you fearfully and wonderfully made you're made with beauty within you you're made with certain gifts and talents and other people don't have maybe similar but things that they don't have you are still made by god uniquely made by god created by god again I'm sure it can feel easy to be minimized down to something sometimes that's what the system might do and I'm not throwing stones or anything like that that's what it might feel like but just remember man you are still unique you're still one of one you are still you um uniquely made to be on the earth for such a time it says the question is what are you going to do with it okay you're where you're at so what are you going to do with it can you going back to what we talked about early can you pass something down to help somebody else you see things the way you see things can you help somebody else get a better perspective or deeper wisdom or whatever it might be right so I just thought about that cannot preach that a gecko kind of farm that's a that's why I came to mind is that man if these things are uniquely made how much more are all of we or all of all of we listen to me are we
as being children of god I can't talk today ladies and gents I can't talk can you preach that oh bells I am about to enter into new york city's top secret underground reptile zoo that has some of the most incredible rarest and most beautiful animals in collection of anywhere in the world from geckos that mimic tree bark to critically endangered lizards and the largest gecko species on earth i'm going behind the scenes underneath new york city and getting hands on with these incredibly rare animals including a creature that was recently discovered that you could see nowhere else in the world i'm going to get to meet let's go this is insane yeah walking around the streets of new york city higher ises and skyscrapers and then geckos not just one 300 geckos 300 animals in your 70 different species 300 geckos and 70 different species in this room just in this room no that's not true it's true you have 70 species in here 70 species what do we got guys show me something amazing i heard tell me if this is true you guys have something in your collection that was recently discovered that you cannot see anywhere else in the world that's true and that's going to be coming up later in the video but what are we getting into first here we have a just a crowd favorite this is the monkey-tailed skink oh i love prehensile skinks they're found only on Solomon Islands uh-huh not only are they the largest skinks species in the world but they're also the only herbivorous skinks i've also heard typically have a terrible demeanor in some instances it's the nails that are worse than the attitude oh look at them wow you're like not too bad and then this guy just lunged at you like he wants to take a piece out of you take a look at this guy right here look at that dinosaur like head now you look like you're a oh there comes another one this guy just pops these are a bonded pair these were produced by the the San Francisco Zoo. They are a live birthing species and the largest skinks - They are true herbivores? - Yep, they are. - Only eating vegetation and fruit. - They are like something between a monitor lizard and a skincare. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - They're very non-skink-like. I mean, skinks kind of have reduced limbs, very long, weird looking bodies,
'cause a lot of them burrow, but these guys are canopy dwellers. And the plants they eat largely are actually toxic. So they have a gut vector and enzyme that breaks it down. - Oh really? - And when they give birth, 'cause they give live births to one giant baby a year, the babies will live with the mom and dad and eat their feces to obtain the bacteria to break down. - Really, that's so interesting. I'm gonna try that with my kid. - Stick to Gerber. (laughing) - That is so cool. So I love these guys. Prehensile tail skinks. Now to get that name because they use this tail like an appendage, right? They can hang from this tail and they use it for climbing and everything else. Look at the size of that skink though. I mean, what a magnificent creature. And look how dinosaur-like their heads are. Only one small group of islands in the Solomon Islands that they come from. - It's not even the whole Solomon Islands, just from one area. - Yeah, they're very localized. - Which just follows that theme of reptiles and how specific they are to their niches.
- And what's crazy to think about is a million years ago, some normal sized skink came over on a piece of banana leaf or something, right? It rapped it over there. Got there and went, hmm, the only thing I can eat are these toxic leaves. I got no predators and I need to get up off the ground to eat those leaves. So over generational time, I'm gonna get bigger and bigger. I'm gonna develop these crazy large jaws and head muscles that you can see. And you know what? I actually need a tail as a limb. - It's a perfect example of island geantism. - That's right, island gigantism, look at that. - Geckos have some of the coolest evolutionary traits, making them the most uniquely camouflaged animals on earth. And coming up, we'll see a great example of this with one of the best camouflages in the animal kingdom. - This is the infamous Geico-Gecko. - The Geico-Gecko. - The quintessential Gecko people often think about. - It really is, which is funny because to me, they're not at all quintessential Gecko. - Yeah, I would agree with that. - They're diurnal, they're colorful, they're not cryptic. They live in Madagascar. I think of Geckos as like, I mean, don't get me wrong,
there's a lot of Geckos in Madagascar, but I think of Geckos as being like, the wall lizard at your home in Mexico. You know what I mean? - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - Brown in, totally, totally. - It's Mickey was often. - Oh, look now, if you often hear that day Geckos aren't handleable, and that's kind of true, but they're also some of the more intelligent Geckos that really absorb it. - And so they kind of like to come out and explore. - I've never handled one calmly before. I've caught them in the wild. I didn't have a Gecko shirt out, so I've only had a chameleon shirt, and I was like, that's perfect for it. It's good not for the video. - Look at that, look how beautiful the colors and patterns on these guys are. Now, they're from Madagascar, but a relatively large range of northern Madagascar. - They are, yeah, so these guys take up a larger range than a lot of their cousins, but the day Geckos in general, especially these guys are massive seed disperses and pollinators, they're eating tons of fruit and nectar, so they're responsible for that kind of niche. - And super important to the forest ecosystem, man. - Very important.
- Yeah. - We specialize in Geckos because Geckos are one of the most primitive lizards. They're one of the first to diverge roughly 200 million years ago. - Really? - So they've had some of the longest time to adapt. - Really? - Yeah. - Did you, I bet you don't know that about yourself, do you, buddy? - He doesn't know much, Ben. - No, you really don't, but you do know how beautiful you are, 'cause look at you. All right, I'm getting too distracted. I'm telling you guys what to show me. Why don't you show me what you want to show me? - Sure. - Otherwise, we're going to be here all day. - All right, so we call this, or I call this the leaf-tailed Gecko Corner, because I specialize in Madagascar leaf-tails, and they're some of my favorites. We're going to start with the iconic satanic leaf-tailed Gecko, right in this enclosure. - Okay. - Oh, you're letting this guy out, too. - Oh, yeah.
This is one of the calmer individuals. These guys are notorious for being quite sure. - Oh, there he is. - But generally speaking, they're quite calm. - Satanic leaf-tails are iconic. People love these guys. - I mean, these guys are some of the best camouflage in the entire animal kingdom, and what's really cool about these guys is it would have been enough to just look like a leaf, but these guys have developed holes in their tails. They've developed veining, mossy splotches in color, so they've gone so far above and beyond what they need to. This is a full-grown male, so they don't get big. This is one of the smaller species of the Madagascar leaf-tailed Geckos. - To talk about crazy biomimicry, I mean, literally, this looks like a living leaf mated with a dragon. I mean, it's an unbelievable thing to see. - Yeah. - And like you say, the frill, the veining, the blotchiness, the little bits of moss. Now, I've been lucky enough to actually see some of these guys in the wild in Madagascar, and it's amazing because you see it here on my hands, and you're like, wow, it has good camouflage, but I can still find it in there.
- Right. - Dude, these guys in Madagascar, they'll spot one of these things from like the other side of the room, and be like, "Oh, there he is." And I'm like, "Where?" And they're like, "There." And I get this far from him, and he goes right there, and that's when you see them. It's absolutely amazing what the human eye learns to see, but this is such a beautiful creature. Look at that guy. - You can see that little tail display. - Uh-huh. - So that's posturing, that's what, aggressive. - Not necessarily aggression, but more, I'm not quite sure what you are, what you want, so I'm kind of being a little careful and distant. Your platyser notorious for being highly sensitive animals. I mean, these guys need, - Interesting. - They need a pool. They need a humid and a single temperature spike, even for a couple hours can completely decimate them. - Really? - Yes. - So if your power went out here, boom, they're gone. - Yeah, we have backup on backup on backup. Everything's on timers and surge protectors. We have specialized lights. - Wow. - So we're here everyday checking things ourselves as well.
- That's so interesting. You guys are married to the geckos. - We're married to the geckos, no prenups. - You're, yeah. - All right, this is amazing. Well, what else, guys? - Well, kind of on the topic of leaf tails, what's cool about Madagascar is, there's about 25 species of leaf-tailed geckos and they all do different things. - Okay. - So here are the dead leaf mimics. If we go down here, you see a beautiful bark mimic along the side of that log like that. - That's the kind that I went and saw. - Yeah. - They kind of look like lichen and moss and everything combined. What's awesome is these guys have frills on the outstarts of their bodies to appear as though they're kind of melted on the tree. - Yep. - This helps them prevent creating a shadow. - Oh, interesting. That's what the frills are for. - Yeah. - Wow. - Yeah, they fold over the logs and prevent that. So these are a really good example of an animal that-- - I saw you were ready for the jump. You had your hand out, you knew that was coming.
- Their body language is super telling. They're an animal, you want to let hold onto you as opposed to holding onto them. - Hold onto them, yeah. - Whoops. Wow, that was cool. That was good gecko catching. - And their eyes, I mean, people often think that they're blind when they're here. - Wow, dude, you should play sports. - I'm going to play sports. - Yeah, but that was, your reflexes were unbelievable there. - But their eyes are amazing. Most geckos are nocturnal, and so they have vertical pupils. Geckos also don't have rods, they only have cones, and they allow them to see color 300 times better than we do at night. You guys are such a good example of people that have turned their passion into a career. I think it's so awesome. - He doesn't like you, dude. He's my gecko now. - I think he is. - Yeah. - How do you go hop back in, go on. - And there he goes. I mean, leaf tails are adapted to very different things. We saw bark and leaves, but here we have the only bamboo making species of the leaf tail geckos of Madagascar. - Wait, so you're saying that leaf tail geckos,
they're mimic different environments based on where they are in Madagascar. - I didn't even realize that. - And I just thought they all looked like tree bark. - Not always, no, I mean, this is a perfect example. - Oh, look at this guy. - Your plot is linearity, the line leaf tail geckos. - Wow. - You can see just-- - Oh, you really does look like bamboo. - Looks exactly like bamboo. Now this is the daytime coloration. These guys are not the most handleable for sure. - I've never seen these before. - Are they rare? - These guys are becoming more commonly bred in captivity, thankfully. Most of the year, plattice animals are endangered or close to it, so. - And that's just Madagascar in general. There's so much habitat loss and degradation there. - So a bamboo mimicking leaf tail gecko didn't even know that existed. Where's their native bamboo in Madagascar? - So in the kind of northeastern area of Madagascar, above the kind of middle of Madagascar, you start to get into some bamboo forests. - Okay. - So these guys really took advantage of that niche. So cool, I'm just adapted to living on bamboo
and literally looks like a dry. Whoa, dude, I'm telling you, bro, you gotta go try out for the nicks or something. This reaction time is crazy. Dude, that's crazy is gecko wrangling. - That's what they call me. - I'd like to see Jeter catch that thing like that. I don't even think he could, dude. That was amazing. I'm learning so much about leaf tails. I have no idea, and geckos in general. What else do you guys want to show off? - Here is another one of my favorite species. - Okay. - A rough throw to leaf tail gecko. Can you find this animal? - I can try. Where are these guys from? So these are from Australia. - Okay. - They are from mostly rocky outcrop areas, and they are some of the best at camouflage. - Oh yeah, there he is. Look at that. Beautiful. Wow, that camouflage is impressive. Look at that tail. That is seriously something crazy. Even just today alone, I've probably held more gecko species
than ever before in my life, and they're all so soft and velvety and lovely. Not this guy. - Yeah. - They're completely different. - Wow. - So, sultaria solibrosus, the rough throw to leaf tail gecko, their camouflage is not only in their tail or the coloration, but also the structure and the texture of their scalation. These guys have a completely different type of scalation than any other gecko species does. They have literal thorns growing out of their body. - They really do. - That is an amazing guy. Now, Australia is an interesting place, 'cause its conservation has gone up and down. It's a place that has absolutely devastated most of its natural animals, and is now so strict and implements so much conservation that I would say are generally doing a very good job. What's the status of these guys? - So, they're actually pretty stable, thankfully, then they're doing very well in captivity, whether it's in Australia or in the United States. These guys are just some of the best species to just observe naturalistic camouflage and convergent evolution. - This guy's amazing, you guys.
I don't think of it. I'm sure I've seen one before. I don't remember where, but I certainly never held one before. I mean, just so cool. There are still so many exotic reptiles to see that call this underground sanctuary home. But before meeting the extremely rare gecko species that was discovered less than five years ago, I still have to meet the largest gecko on Earth, along with a swimming lizard. - So this is the first enclosure people see. It's a beautiful paladarium. - It is. - It's the only enclosure here with water. - Uh-huh. - In here, we have our resident female Chinese crocodile lizard. - I love crocodiles, they're so cool. - Do you ever see her swimming? - All the time. - You do, you actually go down for origin swim. That's so rad. - She's one of the most intelligent animals here. Once she sheds, instead of doing the hard work herself, she'll sit in the water and allow the fish to pick it off of her. - Really? - And you get to see that in the water all the time. - That's so cool. I think it's so interesting because these guys really came
out of nowhere in the pet world. Like, nobody had ever heard of them and then all of a sudden, they were like everywhere. - Yeah, they've been around, and the lineages that currently exist are captive-bred individuals from those that have been around for a long time. The thing is, we've only now really successfully started to breed them in captivity out of where we are. - Aye, aye. - They're not easy to breed, so we kind of figured it out. - Have you guys bred them? - They're young, so we have a male and female. The female in here is going to hit sexual maturity very soon. - Cool. - Yeah. - All right, where is she? - So she likes to hide inside the log. She heard the door open, so she put her head right. - Oh, I see her. - Wow, look at this little blue from Jurassic Park right there. Look at that, sticking her head out. - She knows, she's smart. So you got a big old night crawler for her. - We do, she knows these. She never says no to women. In fact, she heard the door open, she immediately came out. Let's see if she'll take one.
- Oh, nope, she's locked in. She's locked in. - Oh, look at that. - Now you could just see all those beautiful scales on her and the massive muscular tail she has for paddling and swimming. Unlike a lot of swimming animals, these guys don't have webbed feet at all. You'll notice they completely tuck their feet away and use their tail to swim. - It's so cool. Hey, hey, there you go. Eight, eight or one, look at that. It's got a big thick head powerful jaws hanging out in that log. So secretive, such such cool animals. - Who've you got over here, Richard? - So here, we have the male chisarch. - Whoa, and you're just holding him. I've never held one of these guys. Oh, look at this guy. - Cool. Actually, I think I have held one once before at that store. But how cool is that guy? So this is the male and female. Why are you not keeping them together? - So they're still young. So they haven't yet hit sexual maturity. So we're preventing their premature breeding. In order to meet these guys,
there's less than 500 of the wilds first and foremost. - There's less than 500 of them left in the wild? - They're critically endangered. They're also so kind of primitive. They're considered a living fossil. We don't really know what they're related to with them lizards. - Really? - So we kind of call them their own thing. They're geniously machined a source. We call them the shindesaur group. - That's so interesting. Now, he's beautiful. He's got more color than she does, but she is a lot bigger. He's so friendly. They're not usually very friendly, right? They're usually pretty skittish and secretive and high-beat. - Yeah, they tend to be. They're actually known as the sleeping lizards because they're so secretive and lazy. That in some areas, they're actually consumed in some cases as a cure for insomnia because they're so lazy. - Wow, that's a weird Eastern medicine thing. Super cool. Did not know there were only 500 of these guys left in the wild. So good that people are breeding them successfully now.
Very cool. Here, I'll give you him back. And it's unbelievably cool and rare with only 500 individuals left in the wild as these Chinese crocodile lizards are. They're nowhere near as crazy and rare as critically endangered as an animal that these guys have that we're coming to see that I've flown all the way to New York to check out that's coming up. But first, let's take a look at these guys. - So here we have the world's largest cactus. - Leechies. - Everyone loves leechies. - You know, I've been thinking about getting one of these guys. I'm not gonna lie and I'm not like a collector by any means. But my son, he's six, he loves leachianus geckos. He's good with animals. He's not, you know, I wouldn't let most six-year-olds hold a gecko because they have such soft skin. But yeah, he's been thinking about, we've been thinking about getting one of these for his bedroom. What would you say? Good idea, bad idea, ah man. - A great idea and a bad idea all at once. So leechies are amazing. They are the largest gecko species in the world. - Yep. - They're easy to take care of.
Some of the best and most popular pets. - Yeah. - They are similar to the crescent geckos. - Great personalities. - Great personalities sometimes. - Yeah, they're bad when they're little, right? - Yeah, they can be a little territorial sometimes. - Oh, interesting. - And their nails are just snorily. - They really are so sharp as they grip into you. Oh, there it is. - Was he squeaking out of you? - He is, yeah, so leechies are very vocal species. They will croak, they will bark, they will growl. If they're having a bad day, you'll know about it. - Really? - And they're so soft too. - So they're also somewhat of a monogamous species. So these guys are a bonded pair. - And they look 30 years, right? - Yeah. - They live 30, 40 years. They've been together for about two years now. - They're so cool, everybody. They're just gonna bite me for a second. - All right, so cool, like a puppy dog gecko. - Yeah. - And although we've seen a couple dragon-like geckos already, I think this next one beats them all. - Oh man, I keep saying dragon, dragon, dragon,
but we got another dragon. - We have another dragon dragon. - Right. - That's really cool. So this is the red-eyed crocodile skin. - Yes. - What's cool is they don't look like skinks at all. They're really armor plated. They don't have that smooth scalation. What's really cool about these guys is we just heard a bunch of vocalization from the leechies. - Yeah. - Geckos are technically the only group of lizards with vocal cords. - Really? - Except for the crocodile skinks. eye crocodile skinks are known to have gecko-like vocalizations. I did not know that. That's so interesting and they're so cool. These are another one that I feel like has popped up all of a sudden in the pet trade. Yeah. They're amazing animals. The problem with these guys is they're kind of finicky, they're very shy and they're hard to get going. These guys don't like most skinks that will either give life birth or lay a bunch of eggs. They lay one egg at a time every two or three months and they're even known to take care of their babies and reposition their eggs and their enclosures. These guys are super cool and this is coming from a guy who's 35 seconds ago just said he wants a leachianis as a gecko so I'm a bit of a hypocrite but I do think for your
general people that just want a cool animal to handle, maybe appear to drag in or a leopard gecko but outside of that, lizards are not the best. Pressed geckos are probably on top too. I mean, they're manageable in size, their care is easy but that's really rare for lizards. This guy's super cool. This is what I've come all the way to New York City for to see this amazing unbelievably unusual gecko, something that tell me all about it, Joe. So this is the story night gecko. They were discovered in 2021 in one cave system in Thailand. Their genus name is gecko, G-E-K-K-O, Prada Pdau named after the region, the cave system is in. Now, gecko, that genus is very popular. I mean, the common tote geckos are in that genus. So these are essentially the miniature black and white versions of the tote gecko. This is so cool. A gecko that was only discovered in a cave system in 2021 and even more than that, you guys are one of one that have these in captivity. I mean, how many people have these on public display? This is the only place. If you are in New York City and you want to see one of the rarest animals in the world that has only been discovered in 2021, you come here to the Gecko Gallery and get to see this animal because it's the only one on display. Yeah. That's insane. And we're underneath the freaking skyscraper in New York. That's the only place. Stuff like this happens. It's so weird. Let's take a look. I got to see this guy.
So we'll open this right up. Okay. Inside. These guys are very reclusive. I mean, of course, they're from a cave system, right? So they have to be dark. They have to be reclusive. You'll see them black and white spots right in this cave right here, unlike their cousins, the tote geckos. These guys are less bitey, a little more prone to flight than anything else. It's so beautiful though. Oh, there's two of them in there. There's two of them in there. There's two of them in there. Wow. They are so beautiful. Wow. I really see where that name starry night comes from. Look at that, that animal back there. Black. Whoa, buddy. Oh, ready with that glass. But look at that. Just shed black with those white spots. And I see what you're saying about the Gecko G, KKO, Genis. Yeah. Because it does look a lot like a tote gecko. It does. Yeah. And then black.
They get their name because just like the tote geckos, these guys can be fairly vocal in the sound they make sounds like they're saying the word gecko. Oh, yeah. Exactly. Yeah. One thousand dollars on Facebook marketplace flipping five specific item categories out of my storage units and now my warehouse. And it wasn't clothing or thrift store finds. I'm talking about big stuff and the kind of stuff most sellers will avoid because it won't fit inside of a shipping box and today I'm going to rank those five categories from lowest profit to highest profit. I'm going to use actual numbers from my business so you guys can see what's realistic and all of these categories are excellent and will sell everywhere in the country except for the greater Tampa Bay area. Definitely not saying that because I live here. So if you live in Tampa Bay, turn off this video or do the total opposite of everything that I say. Now quick note before I start, most of these best items to resell type videos are from people that are selling small items like clothing or things you can find at the thrift store and they sell primarily on eBay. And that's a fine business. I actually do a little bit of that myself. But what I do primarily is a totally different game and I have done this at every level. I have sold out of my garage, I have sold out of a single storage unit, I have sold out of multiple storage units and I've even sold out of a big warehouse with a forklift unloading semi-trucks. I buy pallets from online liquidation auctions and I also hit in-person auctions every single week. And I then turn around and sell the majority of those items on Facebook Marketplace and I bet my average sale price is higher than what most people would expect from reselling.
And there's nothing wrong with selling clothes or thrift store finds or garage sale find or anything of that nature but this video is about the big stuff. I'm talking big ticket items, local sales and high profit per item. So if that's what you're looking for, stick with me. Alright, so starting off, number five on my list is outdoor grills and smokers. Now I've acquired these in different ways before. My highest margin flips in this category have come from local options where I just get stuff for absolute steal but it's way more common for me to get commercial style grills from the online liquidations. For example, I just got two blackstone grills a few weeks ago. I posted them both on Facebook Marketplace and they each sold within two hours and it was just under $200 profit per unit. And the reason the grills move so fast is honestly really simple. A blackstone four or five burner retails for around 600 bucks. When one shows up on a liquidation palette with a scratched lid or sometimes even perfectly I'm paying a fraction of the retail price and I'm listing it the same day. And people will see a $350 Blackstone on Facebook and think they are getting a deal, which they are. Because sometimes the grill is brand new and the box never even opened, just simply a customer return. Post it and move on. Now I will say, the seasonal curve matters on this one. And I would say March through like July is when that season is really hot and the grills are selling really easy. And I'll tell you right now, these do not ship well, so you will not be competing with people on eBay.
Facebook Marketplace is where the grills get sold and that works in your favor. Number four is large appliances. And this is where things get a little bit serious. Washers, dryers, refrigerators, double ovens, cooktops. These items terrify most resellers because they're heavy and they're expensive if you get wrong. If one doesn't work, you're stuck with a 300 pound problem in your warehouse. But that fear is exactly why the margins are the way they are. A few months ago, I bought a full KitchenAid appliance lot at a local auction. I paid just over $3,000 for all the appliances. And I've sold all but two. And my total sales have still came out to $8,700. The profit on that lot alone has been $5,885. And a lot of those items were really great. Some of the standouts were a KitchenAid white electric double oven. I paid 350 and I sold that for 1,700. Another KitchenAid gas range and double oven, 550 cost, I sold it for 1,500, $950 profit. A KitchenAid stainless French door fridge, it cost me $550 and I sold it for 1,500, another 950 in profit. Now these numbers are exceptional and it's not always the case, but it's also not borrowed from the norm. When I go to a local auction, if I see clean, high-end appliances,
I'm whipping up my phone so fast, I'm running model numbers, I'm checking if they work, I'm seeing if there's any known issues and I'm bidding accordingly. If you can test them on the spot, even better. Assurances go a long way with these. And the people who went in this category are the ones that are willing to learn what a bad compressor sounds like, what a clean motor looks like, because that knowledge gap is your advantage. It's what separates you from the average buyer and that's where your profit ultimately lives. But there is one thing to be clear on. Sometimes you might mess up and get something broken. My advice is don't chase the marginal profit on broken units. If you messed up and someone has a bad motor and there are a pair cost outweighs the time to get it all done, just scrap it or sell it for parts to move on. Your time is better spent on our new opportunity instead of trying to squeeze 100 bucks out of something that needs $300 of repair. Quick turnover beats slim margins every single time. Number three is fitness equipment. It's slept on by most resellers, which is what makes it so profitable. Treadmills, ellipticals, rowers, exercise bikes, home gyms, anortic trike treadmill,
retails for $800 to $1,600. Shipping one is nearly impossible, the freight would eat your margin alive. So where does someone go who wants a treadmill without paying retail? Well, the answer is simple. They go to Facebook marketplace. Every single time. In fact, I just received two fitness liquidation shipments in early April. And let me walk you through some of those numbers because that tells the story better than I could. The first shipment my all in cost was about 25% MSRP. I got a NordicTrack T-Series 7, the retail was 900 bucks. I paid 224, I sold it for $600. That was a $375 profit. I got a life smart TM55 treadmill. The retail is $800. It cost me $199. And I sold it for $450, give me a $250 profit. The second shipment was even better at 23% MSRP. And on that, I got a NordicTrack 1250. The retail was $1,600. It cost me $367. And I sold it for $750, a $382 profit on one treadmill. I also got a center runner tool list. The retail was a grand, it cost me 230. And I sold it for $500, give me a $270 profit. And the reason the fitness values hold up so well is because of the gap between retail value
and what people are willing to pay for a used product. A NordicTrack cost 1600 when it's brand new. Nobody wants to pay that. But $750 for the same treadmill on Facebook Marketplace. Yeah, they'll do that in a heartbeat and they do. And when you look at it all from the sourcing angle, it gets even better. Fitness equipment floods liquidation sites because of a combination of buyers remorse and overstalk. Retailers order too much and customers also second guess a big purchase. Either way, it ends up on a liquidation palette for about a quarter of the retail price. January is the best month to sell these items, which is no surprise. Everybody's making New Year's resolutions and shopping for this kind of equipment. If you can stock up equipment in November and December when the demand is low, you'll be ready to rock and roll and sell a ton of it come January just a few weeks later. Now, if you're a long time viewer of the channel, number two will come as no surprise, which is going to be indoor furniture. Sofas, sectionals, bed frames, dressers, nightstands, you get the idea. And this category is the workhorse of my business personally. Every single week, I've got a couch or a sectional or some bedroom furniture going out the door. And the reason furniture works so well is very simple.
And people are always moving or wanting something new or getting a new place, but they don't wanna pay retail. And I wouldn't either. So where do they go? Say it with me, Facebook marketplace. And one of my more recent and better purchases was actually just like a home mixed furniture lot and from an online liquidation. And I landed at an all-in cost of 22% MSRP, which is super low. For reference, I typically try to buy things at 25 to 30% all in, so this one came in even better. And I had some really great items that sold out of this lot. I had a Carmelo fabric power sectional that cost me $443. I posted it on Facebook marketplace and it sold within two days for $1,100, a $657 profit, one piece of furniture. And the same shipment, I had a leather power sofa. I paid $265 for it and I sold it for $650, a $385 profit. I also got a six drawer dresser that I bundled with two ninth stands and the total cost on those items was $301. And I sold the set for $550, a $249 profit. And bedroom furniture I have found to move extremely well. Dressers and nightstands have been
really good sellers for me too. Again, nobody wants to pay the big box retail prices. I had another bedroom delivered even before this one. Now I was selling Marina Del Rey dressers consistently between $400 and $500 each, giving me $220 profit per unit. I had a king bed set come in as well, my cost of goods on that was $220, I sold it for $600. I had an even bigger king canopy bed set come in. Same cost, I sold this one for $500. With all that said, I actually have learned some lessons over the years of doing this with furniture. And that's simply this, mass appeal wins every time. The pieces that sell the fastest aren't the most stylish or the most unique ones. They're the ones that fit a normal family's bedroom or living room, sectionals and neutral colors, king bed frames, six drawer dressers, simple as that. The people doing vintage rehabs and painted furniture can absolutely make a killing and I've got friends doing it and I respect the hustle. But my personal preference is boring, consistent volume because money loves speed and I'd rather move a gray sectional in two days than wait three weeks for the perfect buyer for a vintage find. And it's come time for number one. And if anyone has watched my channel for a long time, you guys know that my number one for the longest time has been couches but has recently been dethroned. And what I'm going to say will be blasphemous
to the couch flipper community and utter betrayal even. But nonetheless, I speak the truth because the number one category I'm selling today and I'm loving it is patio furniture. That's right, you heard of here first folks. My highest profit per item and my preference today of what I could sell best is patio furniture. Nothing that I'm selling today makes as much money per piece as my outdoor sets and liquidation palettes are stuffed with them. So with that said, let me highlight some recent wins to show you what I'm talking about. I'll probably say this one wrong, but I had a Hindrinden callus four piece set. It cost me $700 and $78, I bought this one for a lot. But I sold it for $1,500, a $721 profit. I also had a stone top nine piece dining set. It cost me $577, but I sold it for $1,100, giving me a $523 profit. I had another five piece kind of lounge set sorta like this. Cost me $505, I sold it for a clean $1,000, give me a $4.95 profit. I also had a really nice woven set with a fire pit in the middle. Cost me $890, pretty pricey. But I sold it for $1,600 for a $710 profit on one set. You see, patio furniture sells really well for similar reasons as some of the other things, except for the fact that of all the categories that pricing on new patio furniture,
it feels the most absurd because it's going to degrade the fastest, typically speaking. A good patio set at the store costs between two and $3,000. And shipping on the resale side of things is nearly impossible, which kills any threat of eBay sellers or anyone outside of your market. It's definitely a local resale or type of item. Seasonal demand kind of goes hand in hand with the black stones from earlier. And you're looking at like a March through July peak season. But that gives you a very predictable window of when the sales are going to be best. Because the choices are to either buy it from you at half off or pay double at a big box store. And either way, both sets are going to look the exact same next summer. The choice is pretty clear if you ask me. So if you're starting out and you're looking for an item to start with in a category to dominate, this is the one. Except if you live in Tampa Bay, these do not sell in Tampa Bay. So if you live here, don't even bother. The ceiling is pretty high on what you can sell for and what you can earn. On top of that, your competition's a lot lower than some of the other categories too. And best of all, the buyers who are looking for stuff
like this typically have a little bit more money to spend than someone who's looking for a good value couch. It just makes for a better selling experience a lot of the time. And for me personally, the patio sets are doing a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to my $500 to $1 million challenge that I'm doing on this channel. Now here's the part most people want to know. Where am I buying this stuff? I get it. I'm doing the online liquidations a lot in this video. And I personally use one platform to make pretty much all my purchases, at least online these days. I like to buy, I buy for a lot of local auctions too, but if I'm shopping online, I pretty much use one platform. But that doesn't mean that's the right starting point actually be the clothing and it might actually be the thread of store finds. So whether you've got 200 bucks a start or 2000 bucks a start, the sourcing strategy is going to look a lot different for you. And I break that all down in a free resource called the sourcing playbook. It covers the auction site that I use, how I think about sourcing at every budget and every level, and what I'd recommend doing if you were just getting started with zero experience. The link is in the description. All I ask for is your email so I can send it over to you as well as future opportunities we discover on the channel. And if you got value from this video, make sure you like and subscribe. It really helps the channel much more than you guys would ever know and I really appreciate it. So with all that said, thank you guys so much for watching and we'll see you all next time. [BLANK_AUDIO]
