Is A Godly Life Even Possible?
What does it actually mean to have faith in God when your circumstances have not changed?
Biblical faith is more than positive thinking, optimism, or simply hoping everything works out. Faith is trust. It is learning to trust that Jesus is who He says He is, that His character is good, and that He has not left you alone to figure life out by yourself.
In this episode, Trevor walks through 2 Peter 1, Hebrews 11, Psalm 9, and the life of Jesus to show why knowing God changes the way we face fear, addiction, sentencing, broken relationships, uncertainty, temptation, and the everyday pressures of life. God promises that He has given us everything we need to live a godly life, and that promise does not stop at a prison gate, a cell door, a criminal record, or a difficult season.
The question becomes incredibly practical: How can Jesus help me with this?
Whatever “this” is for you today, you can bring it to Him, learn His character through Scripture, and begin building a life that is rooted in trust instead of fear. You are not left on your own. Get to know Jesus, feed your faith with His Word, and discover what can happen when you dare to trust Him with what is in front of you.
Did that go the way you thought it was going to go? Nope. [laughing] Did you fall back and save you? Well, I'm not going to, ever. Even if there's a fire. [music] But it is what it ain't. It's time to put another one in that living in a van down by the river. Tell y'all, with a tear in my eye. It's time. [music] What it is, what it ain't everybody welcome in. It's time to put another one in that Pando app. Bang, baby, my name is Trevor. I want to say welcome, everybody, to the Championship Show, wherever you are at in our DOC. So glad to have you with us. I have the amazing opportunity to serve all of you. Wherever you are from Florida, all the way up to Maine, to Texas, out to Alaska, to Montana, to Idaho, down to Oklahoma, where the wind comes. Sweeping down to whatever it might be. I'm really glad you're taking some time today to join us. Maybe somebody told you about this. Maybe you've been rowing along in this robo we call champion church for a while. You've been rowing with us, whatever it might be. Seriously, you can be doing a thousand other things or watching a thousand other shows, but you decided to tune into this one. Truly, I am honored. It is an honor to be able to bring all this to you every week.
If you've never been with us, man, we are a small church here in Northeast Florida, just south of Jacksonville, who has a big heart to serve all of you. The residents of the DOC that stands for Department of Corrections, in case you're wondering, whether you're sitting in a county, whether you're sitting in a detention center or work camp, a faith camp, a prison, death row, ad set, whatever it might be. However, you're consuming this content. Seriously, thank you so much for being a part of what we are doing here at Champion Church, where our heart is to help you champion every season of your life. Now, here's the truth of the matter. It's another beautiful day. It's another beautiful day. We get to be alive, which means I believe, genuinely, that God has some type of plans and purposes for us. And I don't care. Here's the truth. If I had someone tell me the other day, well, that's so cliché. Listen, I don't care. I don't care. That is cliché. It's true. Like, if I'm alive, then God still must have a plan. Like, even if everything's not great and everything's not wonderful and I'm not seeing everything. Look as beautiful as I wanted to see. Maybe you're sitting there and you're like, man, I don't want to be here. Okay. I'm not that many people. Let me think about it. I'm not my anybody that I know of this, man. I love being behind bars. I love it. They just said, no one's, no, why?
We want our freedom, that kind of stuff. But here's what we can do. We can make the best of the time that we are there, right? So it is what it is at this moment. But what can we do? Can we make the best of our time to champion the season and say, okay, God, here is where I'm at. And I'm not where I want to be, but here is where I'm at. What can you do in and through me while I am here? And that's kind of our heart of what we try to do. If you've never been with us, so I kind of open up the show, then I'm going to do a thing to kind of ground us, something that's going to ground us, whether it's a, I think last week we did a horseback ride or a jet ski ride, motors or whatever. And here's the point, not just to see that, but to ground us and to be in the moment. And then I'm going to teach for a few minutes after that, and then we do something where I'd like you to take the time to reflect. We kind of look at God's beauty, whether it's in a city or in a countryside, something like that, where we can look at the beauty of God and kind of take in what we just looked at. And I usually put scriptures we talked about up there. And then I do a couple of different segments of, can you preach that? And essentially it's different things that you all have submitted to me and said, hey, can you preach this, whether it's, I'm trying to think of once we've done skateboarding. Y'all love to do the, can we preach that, a mud bogging, that kind of stuff? And then we usually wrap it up at the end of the show with something from my entrepreneurs out there that are looking, hey, how can I make money when I get out of here legally? How, what's a thing that I could do when I get out of jail or prison legally, whatever that looks like. All right. So enough of all of that. I kind of just want to get into the show today. I'm going to be honest with you.
I'm not feeling a hundred percent. I don't know if you, you guys have ever had this where you just, it's not like I have a cold or it's not like I have a flu or anything like that. I just, I kind of feel this ick. But I want to get through this show first. I want to get through this show and that way if I have to go home from work early, at least the show is done and it's recorded. I want to say this too. Thank you all for sharing the show with family members for sharing the show with people in your housing unit for sharing the show with people in your cell block that is rowing with this that is picking up an or and rowing with us. It matters. It matters. Every time you see us trend as a church, that is you training with us. If you haven't subscribed, what are you doing? Hit subscribe, man. Hit subscribe. Row with us. Be a part of what we're doing here at Champion. I want to say this, Marion CI here in Florida. Marion CI, I'm coming to see you September 19 Saturday, September 19. I'm coming to see you. I'm excited about that. Got some other dates working in Texas. Going out there, got hit up yesterday by someplace in Arizona to go as well. And here's my thing. Man, I would love for you to come. Here's what you need. You need three things. You need the warden to be on board, the administration to be on board. That way I can get approved to come in. Then you need the chaplain to be on board as well. And then they can reach out to the church. And then I personally will get back in contact with them. I pay my own way. I just love that I get to go and serve different places, that kind of stuff. It just really means a lot that I get to come alongside of you all. And I will absolutely do it if you have a chapel service or something like that. You would, or a special event or something you'd like me to come out to. Let's see if we can make it work. If I, if y'all can get me in, I'll figure a way to make it happen. That's kind of my heart on that. That's why I'm coming out to Marion CI September 19 Saturday, September 19th. I'm going to go. I think there's two chapel services. And then there's a break in the middle. I'm supposed to be going to a work camp as well. So it's gonna be a full day out there, which I'm stoked about. But all right, enough of that. Let's jump into today. We're going back to Hebrews chapter 11. Some of the most significant verses in all of your Bible. All right. Hebrews chapter 11. And I want you to see them. I'm going to teach them and make it as crystal clear as I can today. What biblical faith is. It's not optimism. It's not just positive thinking. It is not just faith for faith. I'm going to show you what true biblical faith is and the way you can walk in at starting today. I get my name is Trevor. I'm so honored. Genuinely man, it means a lot. All you ladies and gents out there are saying what it is and what it ain't. Let's put another one in that pando. I bang, baby. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music]
[Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] All right, so one of the things we said in the last episode is we said that God has promises for our life, right? So God has promises for our life. Now when we accept Jesus Christ, His Son as our King, our Lord and our Savior, right? So you hear Christians say that a lot, here's what this simply means.
Is that you believe who Jesus is, who He says He is, right? That this is the difference with Jesus in any other religion, that He left Heaven and came to us to bring us back into the good graces, if you will, back into the family of God. Other religions will say this, that you have to do all this stuff to get to God, and here's what I love about Jesus and Christianity is that He left Heaven to get to us to bring us back into that family, and the way you receive that is accepting the work that He did, and you're believing, listen, I can't do this on my own. I can't figure this out on my own. I can't get to God on my own. I can't do enough penance to receive forgiveness for my sins and my shame and my shortcomings. None of us can, right? Absolutely none of us can. So, we received the work that Jesus did on the cross of Calvary, that He took all of our sin and shame on that cross, when He was nailed to the cross, He died in our place, right? And then He rose three days later and said, "Anybody who receives Me is going to be received into the Kingdom of God, into the Kingdom of our Father Yahweh." So, all that being said, if you've not accepted Jesus, I'm just going to hit you right off the bat with it. If you've not accepted Jesus, I'm a Jesus guy, obviously. I believe He's the best decision you could ever make in your entire life to say, "Okay, I'm giving up my ways and I'm choosing Jesus." I'm giving up my truth and I'm choosing Jesus' truth. I'm giving up my life and I'm choosing Jesus' life, that there is true hope in that. That is called putting my faith, which is simply trust in Jesus, that He is who He says He is, and He will do what He said He's going to do. Listen, here's what we know. We've said this so many times before. Maybe this is the first time you're hearing it or maybe you just need this reminder is that we know this, that the walls that you're sitting behind can't stop that. Maybe you're sitting in Agseg or you're sitting in CM or whatever it might be. Listen, the walls that you're sitting behind cannot stop the goodness and the grace of God. You might not be in a good place. You might be in a dark place. But listen, that doesn't stop the goodness and the grace and the forgiveness of Jesus. Maybe just some random chance that you're seeing this video of this dude sitting in Northeast Florida.
That just says, listen, listen, if you're seeing this for this reason, to be reminded that the goodness, forgiveness, and love of God cannot be stopped by those fences or those walls or those bars or that sentencing. It may not remove any of that right now, but it can't stop the goodness of God for finding you right where you are at, man. We've seen over 15,000 since we started the championship show in November of 2025, say yes to Jesus and say yes to that. And I want to say, maybe you're next. The amount of stories that we have of people saying, "Man, listen, I've found God through this show." Maybe you're next. Maybe you're next to say, "Listen, I trust in Jesus." And I trust in the work that he's done. A gentleman the other day gave his life to Christ and he said, "Listen, I don't even know what this means for me, but I know I need to take this step and trust him." And the way you do that panda made this and makes it incredibly easy. There's a button right below me. You can click that and tell your testimony and all that kind of stuff. I read all of those, all of those I read them. But back to the point I'm saying is when you accept Jesus and the work that he did, that's called putting faith in him, all right? There are promises from God that are given to us. We looked at this last week, but I want to look at it again. 2 Peter chapter 1, verse 3 says, "By his divine power," this time by Yahweh, "God has given us everything we need for living a godly life." Here's what I want you to know, everything you need Potos see I don't care if you're in Booneville I don't care if you're a Marion CI and you know I'm coming to see you on September 19 I don't care if you are in Arizona if you are in Georgia if you're in South Carolina I don't care if you're down there in Homestead shout out to all the ladies down there in the Homestead faith camp I don't care where you are at here's what I want you to know when we accept Jesus as our king and our Savior meaning this he is the king of our life and he is the Savior from all of our sin and shame and shortcomings when we accept Jesus as that we're putting our faith in him this verse right here tells us he's given you everything you need for living a godly life and you might say man I might be I might be in loyalty I might be with
a lot of dogs I might be down there with Hatcher and Arcadia you know I might just be in the Florida DOC with Jakarta like whatever it might be wherever you are God has given you everything you need for living a godly life everything you need you might be running with Bob and with the black ox out there in lawdie you might be an union CI right like I don't know where you might be but I want to tell you this wherever it is you have to understand this according to this verse it doesn't stop at those gates it doesn't stop at that cell it doesn't stop in that county whatever it might be it doesn't stop at your record God has given you everything you need for giving a god or living a godly life the question is this will you trust him to empower you to do so will you trust him to empower you to live a godly life some of you you may have never seen a godly person in your entire life you might be the first generation one some of you you're surrounded by nothing but evil and darkness and addiction and you feel like man I can't get it right I just came in this cycle of doing wrong and doing wrong and doing wrong and I'm looking at all this time or I'm looking at all these issues or I'm looking at all my mistakes or whatever it might be I want to look you in the eye through this camera and speak directly to you right now God has given you a promise to give you everything you need to live a godly life I'm not speaking from just theory I'm speaking from experience no I'm not sitting where you're sitting I'm not going to pretend like I am but listen man in my own issues in my own life in my own problems if you've watched this this show for any length of time you know I've talked about my issues and my problems that I have things that I'm not trying to pretend like I got it all together my goodness I couldn't even I'm not even that good at pretending that's how much I don't have it together but I know this ow I just hit my chin I know that I know this I know that Jesus is my king and my savior and I know that this promise second Peter chapter one verse three that he has given me everything I need to live a godly life so when I don't know when the days when my depression I'm just to speak for me maybe you can relate when the days in my depression are rearing its ugly head and I'm like man I don't know if I can get through I've got to go to this and say Jesus I trust you that you've given me everything I need for living a godly life and you're going to give me something right now I go to him in moments where I'm like man I don't know how I'm going to navigate I've got a huge meeting tomorrow that I'm going into I'm like man this is this is so above I'm in such deep water not in a negative sense but I'm just like in over my head I should say on just on certain things I'm like man I don't even know how I belong to be here and it's this big meeting I've
got to make these decisions and all this kind of stuff and here's what I'm praying Lord you've given me everything I need to live a godly life maybe you're going to sentencing and you don't know what's going to happen when you stand before that judge you're saying Lord I'm trusting you this is what I would like to happen but I'm trusting you that you have given me everything I need for living a godly life I'm declaring this this is what faith is man it's just saying God I trust you and it's finding scriptures like this and it's what I call standing on them for whatever you're facing maybe you feel abandoned by your loved ones Lord I'm I'm believing you you've given me everything I need for living a godly life that's your prayer Lord I don't know how I'm going to get through this my heart is crushed this person hurt me I just got this sentencing I'm back here in sitting in this cell Lord Lord but I believe you've given me everything I need for living a godly life that's Hebrews chapter 11 what do I mean that's biblical faith that's saying Lord I believe that faith is the substance of things I'm hoping for in the evidence of things not seen as Hebrews chapter 11 now The evidence of things not seen. Faith simply means trust. It's not just positive thinking, and I love positive thinking. I'm not, I'm not like those people who are Eor, I'm just, I can't be around them that much. Because I'm not that way, man. I'm always trying to be hopeful about something. Even in hopeless situations, I'm trying to be hopeful. I'm trying to see, okay, what can I learn? God, what are you teaching me? You know what, this is only a season. This is just a 40 and 41 is on the other side of this. Faith is not just optimism. Faith is not just this whimsical, well, I hope so. No, no, no, no. Faith is simply trust.
Biblical faith is this. It's trust in someone, not just something. It's not just faith to have faith, right? It's not that old George Michael song. You got a half faith, faith, faith, faith, faith. And then some of you all might not know that version. You might know the limp biscuit version. Go to half faith, go to half faith. Whatever, it's not just faith in believing. You see, that's the thing. That's why I'm a Jesus guy. So I'm not just having faith in the universe. I'm not just having faith in A God. I'm having faith in Jesus, man. I'm having faith that Jesus is who he said he is and that he will do what he said he's going to do and that he is worthy to be king of my life. I trust him that what he did on the cross of Calvary is enough for my sins and my shame and my screw-ups. I trust him that he wants what is best for my life and that even the amount of mistakes I've made that are too many to count, that he still has plans and purposes for my life. He's the same with you, man. Second Peter one, everything we need, he's given us everything we need for Godly life. We've received all of this by coming to know him, the one who has called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence and because of his glory and excellence,
he has given us great and precious promises. Here's what I'm gonna ask you. Do you know him enough to trust him enough that he has given you everything you need for Godly life, that he will show you that, man, I don't know how I handle this situation on the yard. I don't know how I handle this situation in this, with the guys or girls that I'm working with in this area, maybe it's laundry or the kitchen or whatever it might be, maybe you're out doing stuff where you're cutting grass and man, there's just tension on your crew, whatever you're like, I don't know how I'm gonna do this. Do you know God enough where you can trust him that he's gonna lead you, guide you, open up doors for you, give you favor, settle things that you can't settle. Does that make sense, like, do you know him enough to trust him that, Lord, you know what? Maybe this person has abandoned me or my family's abandoned me or whatever it might be, but I trust you, right? Like, I trust you that you're gonna handle this. I trust you that you're enough for me and do you know him enough? What did you say again? We have received all this by coming to know him. So here's what I want to invite you in to do. Get to know him. You're like, okay, well, how do I do that? And the Bible, like, scripture, right there at the bottom
of the, if you don't have a Bible, maybe in your cell or whatever, maybe you don't have access to the library, wherever you're at, to get one, right here on the panel at the bottom, there's a Bible. I encourage you, open it up and get to know him. Read the Gospel of John. Read the Gospel of Luke. Read the book of Acts. Read 1st John, 2nd John, 3rd John, those letters. Get to know him. If you're like, man, what does the Bible say about healing or what does the Bible say about provision or what does the Bible say about mental health? Man, go right here on the panel. There's thousands of videos. Just search that and don't just see this, just a message kit to know him. See, when you know somebody, you trust somebody. Think about the person you trust the most. And maybe, I don't trust anybody. Okay, think about maybe at one time, the person you trusted the most. Why did you trust him? Because something in you knew them, right? Now, don't be like, well, they stabbed me in the back or they whatever, like, listen, no, no. In the pure sense, you trust someone because you know them. That's the only way you're gonna trust them is if you know them.
It's the same with God, right? What is it? Psalm chapter nine, verse 10 says this, "Those who know your name trust in you for you, Lord, "have never forsaken those who seek you." Now, it doesn't mean like know your name is like name of like Jesus or the name of Yahweh. When it says know your name, it's talking about character. The name here in scripture, when Jesus would say, "Pray these things in my name." He wasn't saying when you say in the name of Jesus. No, that's not what it means. It means when you are praying it in his character, in how he is. Like, you couldn't, like, this isn't in God's character. You can't be like, Lord, I pray you hurt that person. That's not in the character of God. First John 1 says that he is pure light and there's not a trace of darkness in him. So we can't use him to manipulate against somebody. That's called witchcraft, right? That is not Jesus. Light is always more powerful than darkness. No matter how significant darkness might feel, Jesus is light. He has nothing but pure light. And he brings light into darkness. But if you're praying something that is in his character, Lord, I'm wanting, I've dealt with this addiction for however long.
Jesus, I'm asking you, heal me of this disease, of this addiction. That's in his character. That's in his name. And what he says here is those who know your name, Psalm 9 verse 10, trust in you. So if you can get to know his character, how does God interact with people? How does Jesus interact with people? How did he handle things? How did he move and act and live and that kind of stuff? That is when you get to know his name. And when you know his name, you begin to trust in him. Some of you that have been tracking with us for awhile, you've gotten to know me through these things. I've gotten to meet you at your prison or at your detention center, whatever. You've got to know me in some type of way. So therefore you trust maybe something I am saying. If you could do it with me, how much more could you do with the creator of the universe? Does this make sense? And here's what we have to know. Here's what we have to know. Get what you know about God through the lens of Jesus. If you're wondering how God feels about something, look at Jesus. Philip in John chapter 14, he says, Jesus, if you'll just show us the Father, we'll know everything.
Jesus says, if you've seen me, you've seen the Father. Colossians chapter 1 verse 15 says that he is the divine portrait, the very image of the invisible God. Hebrews chapter 1 verse 3 says he is the expression of God. So go read about Jesus. See how he acts and those who know his name, know his character, trust in him. Why does this matter? Let me finish up with this. Why does this matter? Because Hebrews chapter 11 verse six says without faith, it's impossible to please him. And those must come to him and seek him diligently. All right? Faith simply means trust. So without trust, it's impossible to please God. You can be doing stuff for yourself, but that's not faith. Are you living like Lord, I am trusting in you? That's where you see your life become pleasing to God. Can I tell you? It's easier than you might think. It's easier than you might think. All of us, and here's why. All of us trust in something, right? All of us trust in something. Why not let it be Jesus? Why not let it be God's kingdom? Why not let it be his ways and how he acts? I mean, he's the creator of it all. Why not give trusting him a try
and watch what God will do in and through your life? Doesn't mean every day is going to be beautiful, perfect, wonderful, and the handcuffs are coming off and you're getting released tomorrow. That's not what it means. What it means is you can be forgiven. You can be made whole. You can break the chains of those addictions and those strongholds and that unforgiveness and that bitterness and all of that kind of stuff. And you can live life on purpose even behind those walls that sell, that barbed wire, fill in the blank or whatever. My name is Trevor. I hope today has helped you. It's a simple thing, man. Can you trust that he's given you everything you need for living a godly life? Can you think about that, the magnitude of that? You're not left on your own anymore. You're not just relying on that family member to pick up the phone or respond back to you. I'm not saying that stuff doesn't matter, but now when we accept Jesus and we have faith in Jesus, everything you need is in him. Start thinking about this. Maybe you need to write this down somewhere and put it where you can see it. Of everything in life, maybe write this down. How can God help me in this? How can God help me in?
Maybe just draw a line, just say blank. How can Jesus help me in this? You dealing with tension? Within the prison, how can Jesus help me with this? You dealing with going to sentencing? How can Jesus help me with this? You dealing with internal? Because that is what He has given us, everything we need for living a godly life. You can live a godly life, and it's only because the foundation of your life will be built on faith in Jesus, trusting Jesus is who He says He is, and He will do what He said He's gonna do. Why not you? If you've never given your life to Christ, there's a button right now that says salvation or something like that, click that. But if you've already given your life to Christ, man, track with us, hit that subscribe button, be a part of what we're doing. Let somebody know, man. Let somebody know that you know is struggling in life right now. Say, "Hey, man, go watch this episode." God's given us everything we need for living a godly life. If you're like, "Well, what does God say about this?" Throw it in the search bar here in Pando. Watch videos on it, feed your faith.
When you feed more and more on God's word, it is a natural reaction to begin to trust Him. That's what happens, man. When you begin to walk with Him, you automatically begin to trust Him. I know I've said this last thing about 15 times, so one more time. David defeated Goliath because he had walked with God and God had helped him defeat the lion and the bear. That's the only way he was able to defeat Goliath. Think about that. Abraham was able to walk with God and see the promises and become the father of faith because he spent years walking with God and getting to know Him. Moses was a murderer. Moses killed a man, messed it up, thought his life was over, but then he would deliver Israel out of Egypt and out of bondage. How would God use somebody like that? Because Moses dared to trust God. What are you gonna dare to trust God in? What are you gonna dare to trust God in? What is something that you can look at and say, okay, how can God equip me to face this? I'm telling you, man. It's maybe a lot more simple than we imagine. Okay, I think I'm done for real.
My name is Trevor. I hope today, Spotea, I hope it grew your faith. I hope it encourages you to go find words of God, read them over and over and over again. Get them into your heart, write them down so you can see them, get them into your heart so you can begin to see them in and through your life. My name is Trevor. I love all of you. Are you thinking in a way that is trusting God all the time, that you're putting your faith in Him, that you're leaning towards Him,
that you're trusting that He is going to give you everything you need for a godly life. What you consistently do through repetitions is what's going to come out when the pressure is on. Maybe I should say it like that. What you consistently do in repetitions. Rep it, like, cheese. Come on, looked on phonics. Repetitions, Lord. (laughs) What you consistently do in repetitions is going to come out when the pressure is on because life is always life and life is always life. And ladies and gents, what you're always, you're always training yourself to do something, man. So train yourself to think in faith. Train yourself to trust God. Train yourself to learn more about Him where you can know who He is in His characters and His ways. Can you preach that? I tried. I had fun with it. And we are kicking things off in the agility arena where Lori Barbie and her eight-year-old Weimar honor sterling are set to lead off the large dog agility competition. Sheline, it's all about that clean run in large dog agility, and here we go. Absolutely, you can be lightning fast through this course, but if you make mistakes, you are not going to get
on the podium. That's because this is a timed and judged course and if mistakes are made, then time penalties are assessed onto the lake for the run. Sterling style, run fast and bark loud. (laughs) You hear that? Going through the weeb pulls in large dog style. Nice. And working well together, we're going to set the bar here trace for the rest of our competitors in large dog agility. Wow, Sheline, no faults coming through the finish for the fast time of 31-10. Setting the tone and the bar here in large dog agility. Great run. Nicely, nicely done. Everything has to be executed correctly. Otherwise, those seconds add up, but these guys showed the way. Michelle Schwartz and her dog rookie, the four-year-old Border Collie and speaking of rookie, this is their first time competing at the Purina Pro-Plan Incredible Dog Challenge. A reminder, the champions in each discipline earn a spot to the national championship finals. Very exciting for them because this is really like the Olympics of dog sports. Being here at the Purina Pro-Plan Incredible Dog Challenge, having it be on TV is so exciting for all the competitors.
It's just a wonderful experience for everyone. And that includes all the spectators trace. People love watching these events. Oh, and the bar down, that's going to cost them a false seconds applied onto the length of their run. So those five seconds added on, it is a 32.64 putting Michelle Schwartz and rookie into second. These tight turns sometimes can be too tight, and he just hugs a little bit too close and knocks the bar going around. I'll test at Trussner and Lina making their way into the arena, but before they take on this course, it's me, the team who's agility journey began with an unexpected blessing, a disguise, and led them all the way here. This is my first time here, which I'm very, very excited about. This is my first dog, so I'm kind of checking off another thing on the bucket list, so I'm very happy and grateful to be here with her. My family basically all grew up in Southern Illinois, and my mom, who's here with me actually, is a huge Cardinals fan. Her name is Molina, which is obviously Cardinals catcher, like amazing Cardinals catcher. And then all of our other dogs have, we have Lu, who is obviously our St. Louis dog, and then we had a dog named Aussie, who was named after Aussie Smith. So yeah, it's kind of fun that Purina and incredible dog challenge all match in
with the St. Louis theme. The pandemic was kind of like a blessing in disguise for us, and we moved to Virginia, and I'd played soccer my whole life, so I've always kind of been in competitive sports. When the pandemic hit, obviously a lot of soccer stopped going on, so I've always been in the dog training, and like I said, this is like the perfect dog to get into it with. She's kind of my steady eddy dog, so I kind of have to push her for speed. But I kind of know exactly what I'm gonna get out of her every weekend, so yeah, running with her is just super special, 'cause like I said, I grew up with her in the sport, and running with her is special, as she's getting older. Winning here, I think would just be a really, really good accomplishment, and a good last thing to check off our bucket list. So yeah, I'd be ecstatic, but I'm here to just control what I can, control my runs, and have a blast with my dog. It's a great attitude, Shleen, as we get ready to watch Lena and Tessa Trussner, her eight-year-old Mitch Breed, their junior world champion, debut on the incredible-- you watch this, it looks like the dog is just know where they're going on this course, but they don't. It is up to the handler to direct them with hand cues, body positioning or verbal cues to know which obstacle to go to. And I think that's always just absolutely amazing to realize when you see how fast they get through this course. Time to be 31 10 set by Sterling, and they do it 30.76 moving into the lead in their first time competing on the incredible dog challenge. That is so exciting for them. A perfect run. And again, she talked about that relationship and it worked for them out on the course, getting across the finish
line and moving to the top of the pack. Work needs to be cut out big time for Emily Klarman and swish five year old border collie. Focus before jumping onto the course. You'll notice that the bar heights are all set at the same level. That's at 20 inches for our large dogs here. And it's set to the height of the dogs at the withers to make it a very even playing field for difficulty. And speaking of bars, we have one down. Ten seconds added on, clean through the weave pulse section, making up a little bit of time. But I tell you what, to get on the podium today, you're gonna have to be clean. They have done it even with the faults. Ten seconds added on. 37.72 fourth place just off the podium. Wow, that was lightning fast. Too bad. The bars got knocked. But when they're going so fast and trying to clear the hurdles in a low arch, it can sometimes knock them. But that does save seconds. Final competitors in large dog agility. It's the six year old border collie named Maize. Kim Fuqua is the handler. So the majority of our competitors here today, border collies, they naturally excel at this event because they are a herding breed. They like to be busy. They like to have instruction and they just go for it out here on the course. But any breed can do this if you just take the time and practice. To get to the national champion finals, you're gonna have to be better than a 30.76. So far, so good. They watched the incredible dog challenge on TV back in about 2005. Got inspired and looked at this 27.39. The winners, Maize and Kim Fuqua get it done. Look how close he is declaring the apex of the A frame. All of that is fractions of a second that add to the fast run and then getting through it clean. This is what you like to see out here on the field. Nice job and incredible performance. Alright, can you preach that BMX riding? BMX riding. I never really, I could barely, I mean, I could ride my bike. But not something I did a lot in my life. But watching this one, here's what I was thinking. Okay, if I was to preach this, here's what I would think. You can't pay, not that you can't pay attention. How I want to do this, you can't focus on what everybody else is doing. Sometimes, man, you just gotta run your race. Hebrews 12 verse 1 says, "Run the race that God has set before you." I can't run your race. You can't run my race, right? We can encourage one another. We can have the community. But at the same time, at the end of the day, when I am pedaling, let me say it for champion. When I'm rowing in my life, I've gotta make sure, man, I'm paying attention to what's in front of me. Doesn't mean you don't have community. It just means
I'm paying attention to what's in front of me. And I was thinking about that watching this BMX race, man. They can't be worrying about what everybody else is doing. Sometimes you just need to hear this, quit worrying about what everybody else is doing. And focus on steps you can take right now with God, however that might look in your life. Don't worry. What did Bob Marley say? Don't worry. What everybody else is doing, he didn't say that you know what I'm saying? Focus on the race that God has put in front of you. I think oftentimes in my own life, when I have fell on my face, when I've crashed out, there's been a part of that that I got worried about what other people were doing. How far along was everyone else? What were they doing in my life? Are they in their life? Are they further along? Have they forgot about me? All that kind of stuff, man. Sometimes you got to worry about your race that you are running. Hebrews chapter 12 is the chapter on that. Go check it out. I've got Tyler Brown in that hip pocket right there. All right so first step for the rig we're using, we take is a beat is optional, a beat will be better we just need to put it on because it can destroy your um swivel and destroy your knot, but you take about a two ounce sinker really just depends where you are and down to swivel it down to whatever leader you're going to do just depending on what you're trying to catch. Then that was a bad hook, but you just take some shrimp and now just drop it down. Yep yep that's a good finish. Ooh oh that's more than a bait, you just caught a little baby shark. Well guys this was not what I was attending. We're trying to catch bait, but we'll take it. It's better than catching and flying. Now if you do look onto a shark we're using like what six pound test? Yeah it's probably, I don't even think it's eight pound test you got to be. Yeah you got to be extreme.
Um I don't know if this is a shark look out it's just. I don't know. It's on the bottom. Yeah there you go. Especially with fire line like we're using you do not want to force in it, because if you force in it it's going to snap, it probably gets me a place. You know if it's a lot of you know you better run, you got to be very careful. Especially if you're on like a motor like I am. So I'm not in a good position. I can tell already. Oh it just broke you off. Dang. How it was a shark. All right so I did not feel like we rained because of time we're going to have the leaves to probably like five minutes, but we got them a different one here. Check a one more round hoping you get the job done. All right we're on finally. Honestly I think that pulls about two foot. So what you use in ponds. There it is. Little whiting which we use for a shark bait. It's good eating too though. Yep we do. Perfect took center. Oh baby. That is a, don't do too much. Literally in this, this is this baby ugly stick. Catch in a baby shark. That's all I'm trying to force. You're trusting that line a lot. I know.
I know what this rock can hit. Yes you kind of got to fight them like that. There he is. Little baby shark on a little baby raw. You got to compare to the size of your head. This is the water on. Strong thing. All right let's see. Well we're getting catching them on the big boys back there, but catching the little babies on baby raw. Get a flip. All right let's try one more piece of cut bait to see if we can catch another baby shark on it. Did he break you off? He's trying to break you off. I'm just counting. He don't know what's going on. He thought it was going for a snack and obviously he's got a face for it. I don't like a hot eagle in there. His drag is putting up in there. Do the comparison of the pole here. Hold the pole next to it. He's trying to eat from back then. He's getting back to his home before he belongs. Listen, I'm going to be easy. This one was sent to me, Trevor. Can you preach that? It is the dirt bikes heading up the hill. Here's what I was thinking about. Momentum matters. Stacking wins matters. Momentum matters stacking wins. There's my buddy right there. That's my partner. Just pull back in. We're about to get to it. Let me say this real quick. Momentum matters. Stacking wins matters. So, man, just win today. How many times I've talked about that.
Go back and watch in the archives. Those episodes just win right now. Just win today. What I was noticing is if they slow down going up that mountain too much, man, they'll start to fall back down. How true is that in life? Don't even worry about how you're going to get through the next couple of weeks. Don't worry about how you're going to get through the sentence. Don't worry about how you're going to get through the move. Just focus on winning today and then wake up and focus on winning tomorrow. You're climbing that mountain, if you will, and then when you climb that mountain long enough, you stack the wins and as you're stacking the wins. Man, there's just something that comes about it that you don't throw away how far you've come. That's how I want to say that. You don't throw away how far you've come. So, that's what I thought about that thing, man, of the momentum of the mountain. Stack the wins. Keep the momentum. Do not grow weary and well doing, but in due season, you will reap if you do not give up. That's Galatians 6-9. So, yeah, let's jump into this. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] while I'm doing some more, can you preach that?
Getting loaded up, ready for the day. Here is one of the cool things that somebody requested was these flyovers. And I think it's awesome of these, like photographers taking these pictures, these videos of these super, super close flyovers, but here is what I was thinking. It can be easy sometimes to idolize somebody else's trust in their faith and that's needed and that's necessary. But at the same time, man, it's not the same as getting in the driver's seat of your own faith. Like you have to have your own relationship with God. You have to have your own trust in Him. And I'm not saying you don't, but it's just a good reminder. It's good to see somebody, it's inspiring, it's aspiring. I just had a great conversation with the gentleman this morning who's going through hell on earth. His wife is sick, and they've been married 51 years. And he talked about, literally I just hung up with this, he talked about there's times that he's watched other people's faith and he's been amazed by it. But this is the point where he has to have his own and his own trust and his own leading and his own guiding. And that's what I thought about, man, with these flyovers. It's incredible to stand back in amazement. But sometimes you're gonna have to get in the cockpit of your own faith in your own trust and say,
"Lord, I'm trusting in you." No longer just looking at somebody else's, I'm gonna trust in you. (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) - Oh my gosh! (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music)
(dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) (dramatic music) - All right, got another dog training one where they're plunging into the water here. Okay, so can I preach that? Yeah, yeah, I can. I love Romans chapter four. We're actually gonna look at this in the next episode. Romans chapter four, Eugene Peterson, he paraphrases it like this, that Abraham plunged into the promise. And I think for us sometimes we need to plunge into the promises of God for your life. Like I just talked about, he gives you the promises to live a God, or to live a God of their life. He's given us everything we need for that. The thing is, are you gonna plunge into it? Are you gonna withhold nothing, as scripture says, and go all in? That's what these dogs are doing. I thought it's pretty wild.
They're jumping in and I think that's just a good picture for us. Are we gonna plunge into the promise? Are we gonna jump into the promise and trust him in all of it? Like withholding nothing and trust him with anything. That's how I would preach that. So things getting interesting, and we'll start things off with Lindsey, Manetti, and Rogue for round number two of three. Interesting indeed, almost all of these dogs jumping over 30 feet, which is huge. Look at that. Getting out there, 33 feet, five inches. So a five inch improvement from their first time. That's what you'd like to see. And again, the dogs aren't just jumping from no reason. You see that bumper, you see the handler on the end of the dock throwing. That's what they're going after. Russ McLean and Riggs, remember they had a 34 foot four inch jump who's tied right now with Laurel Banky and Sounder. So they need to improve it, knowing that Sounder's is probably gonna jump further. So this one, 34 feet, so a little bit shorter. Then run number one. - But nicely done by our seven year old Border Collie Whippet mix, combining the best of those breeds.
Kind of lost sight of that bumper going out into the pool, but a nice straight lay out. The distance is judged by where the farthest part of the body enters the water. - A very explosive dog here we've seen over the years, slingshot and Rachel Brinkman. First round, 33 inches, that's big. Getting over the 30 foot mark, if you are new to diving dog, is big. - It's big, and then all of these dogs are doing that. This is like supreme, best of the best, competing here today. - It is moving into fifth place, but 32 feet, slingshot, that's unheard of, that 32 feet is in fifth place this year. - Fifth place, that's absolutely crazy. Slingshot catching that bumper, but the throws are longer because our pool is 50 feet long now because of these big jumpers. - Unbelievable. Penny Mann and Golden Eagle get the crowd pumped up. They won our Dallas Fort Worth Central Regionals earning a spot here to the National Championship Finals. Using a disc is their lure getting way out there. So first dive, 32 feet, two inches, and now 32 feet, three inches. So just padding it by one inch. - They can use whatever they want, but you want to get the dog right up to the edge of the dock and then throw
so that it's leading them into the pool. That disc landed behind Golden Eagle, but Golden Eagle laying pretty straight out, which is turning his head at the end. Genio McHenry and her dog OG crack and love that name. The four year old male Whippet coming to you from Indianapolis. And if you've been following diving dog at all, you know that Whippets are starting to take over this sport. And it all started back to lane when you started commentating this event. All the Labrador Retrievers were in the early days. Yeah, the water breeds 32 feet 11 inches. So best so far for OG Kraken is their first jump of 33 feet. It's that speed off of the dog that propels this breed and OG Kraken right here out into the pool to get that distance. It's amazing. And there's Laurel Banky and Sounder is the current world record holder in diving dog along with young Sydney Mackey. We'll see Sydney later with her dog incognito. Sounder's grandson Laurel is hoping to pass the torch to the next generation of incredible diving dogs. We have been coming to the Purina incredible dog challenge for four years now. And it is the highlight of our year. The biggest jump for Sounder's 35 and 9 inches was the world record. I think he might have just broken that 36 feet. A brand new world record. We've won it several years in a row and he turned eight this year. So you know and I see the dogs jumping. There's some great dogs. He's got some puppies of his and some grand puppies of his jumping this year. And so I fully expect to be beaten by one of those incognito. He's two years old. He's gonna be three in December and he is a Sounder's grandson. You know it's really fun to kind of try and duke it out a little with Lito's grandpa. Although his grandpa's still kicking her butt. It's so exciting to see where your new dog how they're gonna do. Every time they jump it's a little bit better a little bit further. And for me I love that part. You always go to places like this hoping you do well. Hoping maybe you place on the podium. But for him really it's just like I just want him to have fun be confident on the dog and for us to bond more as a team. I definitely think that Nido has potential
to jump. I don't know as far as Sounders but it's there. He has the potential to jump as far as Sounders for sure. Whether or not we'll see that we'll just have to wait and see. You know winning is great but it's really about the experience here. It's just about being here on the farm. It's such a beautiful facility and everybody does everything to make sure everything is so safe and wonderful them for them and giving us a bigger pool. A bigger pool 50 feet. There we go. The four-time national champions in diving dog. And right now they're tied in the lead with 34 feet four inches from their first round along with Riggs and Russ McLean. Huge one again by Sounders. Come on 34 feet 11 inches standing now solo in the lead. Of course Laurel is the only one filling the pressure. Sounders are just out here doing what he does and that's jumping big and making a huge splash into the Karina Pro Plant pool. Short of the world record jump that he holds at 36 feet but still an impressive distance. We continue to roll on with a third round of diving dog. Sounders in the lead with a huge jump of 34 feet 11 inches Riggs and second rogue in third. And now we're going to see incognito. We introduced you to him before the break. This is Sounders grandson and really this is the dog that all of the competitors are watching just two years old but already with a big jump here today of 27 feet 10 inches. All right way out there is incognito with a 29 foot six inch jump improving by three feet since the first round. You're right this is the future of the sport. And look how much more distance incognito could have had if he would have gotten up to the edge of the dock on the takeoff. Nice layout, staying focused entering the water straight. Going to have some fun things in the future with that dog. I love how Laurel Banky was helping around as well. Rogue and Lindsay at Manetti. Now for their third round the best for them so far 33 feet 5 inches. Big jump a qualifier here today to get into this event. Wow. Here you go. Tied their second job. 33 feet 5 inches will be their best. That is Look at that focus layout, beautiful splash.
Great job done by Rode Lindsey Manetti. Now it's time for Riggs and Handler Russ McLean, who's a paint technician for general motors about to retire. Having fun here at the National Championship Finals. Their best so far is 34 feet four inches. That was overtaken by sounders earlier. Now this one 32 feet five inches falling short of their best of 34 four. So the first jump will hold. This is a good example of the throw making a difference. You could see Riggs just kind of lose sight of that bumper in the middle of the jump and then immediately starts turning on getting into the water. All right, slingshot and Rachel Brinkman. Very strong competitors in our fetching competition, by the way, their best today, 32 feet. So they have the goods to get out there on the podium. Timing for the throw. A little bit behind that a lot of throw so far, Shaleen, but nevertheless, 33 feet. The best for them puts him into fourth. Well, the extra length in the pool, the throwers got to get their throws out farther because they have plenty of room. Plenty of room than the dogs definitely don't see an end in sight. So they're jumping big, but the throws have to be big too. All right, we'll see if Penny Maehan can put some heat on the bumper. Actually, she uses the disc for this.
And Golden Eagle, their best 32 feet, three inches. It's a final shot. Get the crowd pumped up. Love it. Here we go. Here are the excitement. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Don't have to have the catch. Just have to have the jump. And that was bigger. 32 feet, six inches. A ball, a disc, a bumper, whatever it takes to get that prey drive instinct. That's what the dogs are going after. That's what this event focuses on. It's a perfect toss. It is really perfect. That's beautiful. No extra points for catching it, but nevertheless, impressive. So much fun to watch. OG Kraken now and handler, Genio McHenry. Their best 33 feet after the first attempt. Little dog. Yeah. Oh, little dog with a big jump. We'll see if they can-- wow, 33 feet, 7 inches. So a podium position for OG Kraken. Moving into third. Look at that.
Close up to the edge. And wow, again, these wippets, the strength in their back legs to propel off of the dock. But look, an upright entry. If he would have been more laid out, he probably could have gotten further into the pool. But that was great. So final competitor, Sounders and Laurel Banking. They've already locked it up with their earlier round jump of 34 feet, 11 inches. So now a little bit of victory lap, Shaleen perhaps challenging their own incredible dog challenge world record of 36 feet. So that's what this is really about right now after winning their fifth national title. Yep, already in the bag. That would be icing on the cake. Here we go. [CHEERING] Oh. Oh, that's a big one. We might need a bigger pool again. Sounders jumping you. A 36 feet. So look at that tying. Their incredible dog challenge already held world record. That was massive. How exciting. You saw the video earlier of when Sounders set the record in 2021.
No spectators because of COVID. Here a different story with a tie of that huge jump, which is just amazing. So sensational, Sounders once again does it, burning their fifth national championship title and doing it with a 36 foot jump, tying their own IDC world record. Sounders and Laurel Banking champions again. There was Sean. What makes the American Staffordshire terrier different from the American Pitbull terrier? Are you debating between getting an American Staffordshire terrier or an American Pitbull terrier as your next dog friend? Despite having a same past, the two breeds are distinct due to some of their peculiarities. Find out the differences and similarities between these two pups. Pitbull type dogs, also known as bully breeds, include the American Pitbull terrier and the American Staffordshire terrier. They share many traits in common and also have a few minor distinctions. The American Staffordshire terrier is slightly shorter, but significantly heavier. American Pitbull terriers look to be more athletic. both breeds have beautiful They may be perceived as scary by some. Both breeds, though, are enormous softies at heart. Many people mistakenly think they are the same breed since they are so similar, they
are not. These dogs are frequently contrasted with the American Bulldog. The American Staffordshire Terrier shall be referred to in this article as AM Staffs, and the American Pitbull Terrier will simply be called the Pitbull. Without further ado, let's compare the two puppies and discuss the specifics of each bully breed, starting with the American Staffordshire Terrier versus the Pitbull. Breed history. Both canines were bred for comparable objectives and have similar genetic backgrounds. The Latin word terra, which means earth, is where the term terrier comes from. Terrier dogs were bred from the ground up to hunt rodents. They were developed to frighten animals out of their burrows so that their owner could form the deed himself. They were generally small as a result. Yet, terriers were combined with bulldogs in the 19th century to provide bulk in exchange for their quickness. This was done on purpose to breed bigger, stronger dogs. Afterwards, bullbaiting and dogfighting with these dogs were practiced. Dogfighting was outlawed in England in 1835. Some immigrants who wished to carry on with the vicious sport fled to America and did so. American dogfighters intended to create even bigger and more powerful copies of the combat canines from England. The outcome was the creation of the AM Staff and the Pitbull. Their combative past is what erroneously got them the reputation of being cruel. The Pitbull was the first canine approved by the United Kennel Club, UKC, and 1898. AM Staffs may be registered with the UKC as American Pitbull Terriers. The American Kennel Club, AKC, does, however, recognize the AM Staff but not the Pitbull. The Staffordshire Terrier was the original name for the American Staff but the name was changed to American Staffordshire Terrier in 1972 because it was too similar to his cousin from across the pond, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
In 1996 and 2004, the Pitbull, who was most closely identified with his shared fighting background, had his name changed to St. Francis Terriers and New Yorkies in an effort to distance himself from his past. The idea that other individuals might adopt him was also entertained but it was quickly abandoned following harsh criticism. There is a lot of misunderstanding between these two breeds in the canine community due to the numerous nomenclature changes and politics among Kennel associations regarding their registration requirements. The Pitbull is the more athletic sibling and while some people think they are the same breed because of their nearly identical appearance, the AM Staff is really the chunkier brother, the general consensus is that they are different breeds. It's understandable why people frequently mistake these dogs for one another. The Pitbull and the AM Staff look extremely similar to one another. They both have remarkable appearances and are categorized as medium-sized dogs. The Pitbull is a little taller, standing between 17 and 21 inches tall from paw to shoulder. The AM Staff is shorter, standing between 17 and 19 inches tall. Pitbulls often weigh between 30 and 65 pounds less. The weight of the AM Staff ranges from 40 to 70 pounds. The Pitbull is shorter and stockier than the AM Staff, who is taller and more slender. Both of them are frequently confused with American bullies or other Pitbull hybrids due to their similar appearance. They are both well-balanced dogs and the AM Staff's larger square heads and muscles and more clearly defined muscles combined to give them a powerful appearance. Both of them frequently have their ears cut. This further enhances their unkind exterior. If they are clipped, their ears are often either rose-shaped or half-pricked. The AM Staff and the Pitbull are both offered in a range of hues. In general, kennel clubs won't accept liver or black and tans in the AM Staff and white that covers 80% or more of his body is discouraged. Merle is also not accepted.
Any colors are welcome for the Pitbull bar Merle. The second rarest color is the blue nose, which is followed by the red nose variation. Despite growing in popularity, the Merle color is not a traditional hue in any breed because the Merle gene has just recently entered the gene pool as a result of outbreeding. On their bodies, they frequently have patches of various colors. Of course, if any of these canines is albina. Both of their coats are short, lustrous, and smooth. Their lean body is emphasized by this tight coat. For further details on their physical characteristics, the AKC and UKC both offer the complete AM staff and Pitbull breed standards. Temperament. With regard to temperament, the two dogs are remarkably similar. Are they vicious? Is the most frequently asked query from those unfamiliar with either breed? No is the response. They are not necessarily evil. A dog is only as good as its owner as the proverb goes. The Pitbull and American staff are actually no more ferocious than Chihuahuas. It is fully reliant on their owners and their environment. Every year, a wide range of canines are subjected to temperament tests by the American Temperament Test Society. The recent statistics revealed that 86% of AM staffs passed the temperament exam. Pitbulls also passed at an 87% rate. No one can claim that the samples
weren't big enough to be decisive, because they were 743 and 931, respectively. In contrast, just 81% of the 896 collie dogs in the sample passed the temperament test, making them a more well-known breed. Because these pups are often in the news for aggression-related difficulties, they are often contrasted to other canines that crop up in the news for similar bad headlines. Even though there is just a little resemblance in temperament, the Pitbull is sometimes contrasted with the Robweiler and other Molossa dogs like the Priscunario. Both types are loving, friendly dogs that adore their owners and their families. Also, they both have a soft spot for kids. This is how they came to be known as nanny dogs. Dogs make excellent family pets, despite the fact that we never advise leaving one alone with a young child. Both of these puppies will provide you hours of bouncy amusement because they enjoy playing interactive games and having a good time rapping around in the garden. According to general opinion, neither the American staff, nor the Pitbull, are particularly sociable with other animals. Although they are polite around people, they can become fearful and aggressive around other animals that they perceive
as a threat to their families or themselves. Although obviously not true for all AEM staff or Pitbulls, you should take this into consideration if you have other pets or take your dog for a stroll in the public. Due to this, neither breed is appropriate for a beginner owner, although ultimately both owners and training are equally accountable for this behavior. Exercise Both dogs require quite comparable amounts of exercise. The AEM staff and the Pitbull require similar amounts of exercise. They both meet up to 60 minutes of exercise each day because they are high-energy dogs. The Pitbull would want a little bit more exercise because it is the more athletic variant. The afternoon snooze is more of a preference for AEM staff. Both breeds need to let off a lot of their excess energy. Doing interactive games with them, such fetch or agility challenges, is the best method to accomplish this with these breeds. Although having only modest levels of energy, these dogs need a lot of mental engagement to keep them from being lonely and misbehaving. Training When it comes to training, both dogs are equally intelligent and simple to handle. Once more, the AEM staff and the Pitbull are virtually identical. To prevent any guarding behaviors
and reduce fear aggressiveness with other dogs or animals, they need early socialization. Although many owners claim that their Pitbulls and AEM staff get along well with other dogs in the neighborhood dog park, this is totally due to their training. If you want a well-mannered puppy, you cannot forego training. Fortunately, they have a high level of intelligence, and when combined with their love of goodies, they are quite trainable. We advise beginning harness training at a very young age. Any Pitbull-sized harness will do, and to deter any potential lead aggressiveness, this should be done after their initial set of vaccinations. - Health. - Both dogs live longer lives and experience fewer health problems. The Pitbull and the American staff are both healthy puppies. They both live between 12 and 16 years. In later life, they are both susceptible to hip and elbow dysplasia, which is a condition that affects most breeds. The Pitbull is more likely to experience cerebellar abiography, a condition in which the area of the brain responsible for balance and coordination is harmed. As a result, the Pitbull may have movement issues. The AM staff is more likely than the pit bull to develop heart problems as they age.
Inheritable skin allergies and tearier dogs are also common, and while they may manifest themselves at any moment during their lives, they are easily treatable with medication and proper nutrition. Be careful to see your veterinarian if you have any questions. Nutrition High-quality kibble should be offered to both dogs to support the health of their skin, coats, and joints. They will both consume about two and a half cups of food each day, however some dogs may require more depending on their level of activity. The recommended food for pit bulls or bull terrier breeds should be fed to both breeds. Omega fatty acid supplemented foods will benefit both skin and coat health, which is crucial. You might need to look for a recipe created especially for sporting breeds, with a greater calorie content and boosting muscle growth depending on how active your dog is. Note that both breeds are capable of having sensitive stomachs. As a result, you might also have a look at dog foods with few ingredients. Consider formulas with different protein sources for dogs that have shown a sensitivity to poultry. Ultimately, the amp staff and the pit bulls health and lifespan will be impacted by dietary quality. If your budget allows, it's always advised to spend more money on higher quality dog food. Grooming Compared to the typical puppy, these canines are incredibly simple to groom. It is sufficient to give them a bath every two months or so, and a weekly brushing will keep them bright and healthy looking. Cleaning the ears and brushing the teeth are typical grooming procedures that apply to all medium-sized puppies. Both breeds sweat relatively little. As AM staffs and pit bulls have only one coat, they will shed quite consistently throughout the year. The length of their hair means that you won't need to be concerned about an undercoat rake. They both shed less than other double-coated dog breeds, despite the fact that neither is thought to be hypoallergenic. Puppy Costs When purchasing a puppy from a reputable breeder, budget up to $1,000. From a respectable breeder, the AM staff and the pit bull will each cost on average $1,000 and above.
Puppy prices will rise sharply if you're looking for a dog from a specific bloodline. When considering purchasing either of these breeds, it is crucial to conduct thorough research on reliable breeders. Only pleasant and gentle dogs are bred by reputable breeders. They won't breed any of their puppies if they act aggressively. All right, last thing on this episode, and I got a finish loading the truck up. A couple of y'all had asked about the hotshot stuff like that as an entrepreneur. In this guy that I found, he kind of gives all different perspectives, whether if you just work for somebody to get your CDL, if you had your own business, I thought this one was pretty good and insightful. I hope it helps for those, if anything, you're just seeking wisdom and you're just seeking wisdom. What am I going to do? How am I going to make a godly living when I get out the right way where I can take care of my family and I can be a blessing to others? Hopefully, there's just get your mind rolling. Always pray, James, one five. Lord, give me wisdom. Give me creative ideas of how I can provide for my family and how I can be a blessing to others. I love all of you. I'll see you right here next week. God bless you. Let's talk to you soon. Hey, how's it going? My name is Alex. And in this video, I want to give you everything you need to know on how to get started in hotshotting. But before I do that, you guys, I really want to share with you one important thing. And that is that I want you to understand this is where I started. This Ram 3500, this 2015 truck is where I started. And so understand when you're watching my videos, when you're watching my revenues, my profits, my expenses, how well I'm doing, when you're watching me, keep in mind that I've now been doing this for five years. And so first thing you really need to understand is that when you're getting into this business, it's going to look nothing like I make it look. That's the first thing I really want you guys to understand. So after watching this video, you're going to know exactly what your next steps are in order to get into transportation or tracking business so that you can also go out there and make some money, provide for your family during these really weird 2020 times that we're having. All right, so we're inside the house where the air conditioning is working and it's nice and cool. So first thing guys that you need to really check are that you really need to go do if you're actually consider about getting into the tracking industry as a whole is a medical card. The number one disqualifier for a lot of people is a medical card. If you cannot get a medical card, then possibly look into driving a sprinter van or like that kind of expediting
transport because the law says that anything under 10,000 pounds or any vehicle that's 10,000 pounds or less does not. So if you cannot get a medical card, go look into Sprinter Vans or like Expediting Vans. That's the first one, get a medical card. The second thing you really need to decide about this business is are you going to get a CDL yes or no? Because that determination or that decision can, like it'll split, it basically leaves you with two choices. You know, it creates two paths. So if you're not gonna go get your CDL like I am, then the number one thing you need to understand, as a non-CDL transporter, you will not get hired for any jobs. Because look at me, I hired my first driver and my driver has a CDL, even though he drives a non-CDL truck, okay? So if you decide to not go get a CDL, jobs are unlikely, very, very unlikely. The second thing is, you're probably gonna have to become an owner operator. So that automatically means you need at least 15 to $20,000 startup cash. So if you're gonna choose the non-CDL route, make sure you have at least 15 to 20 grand and understand you're gonna be an owner operator right away, which also means you're gonna have to find a company to lease under and very few companies take non-CDL trucks. So you might have to go get your own motor authority never. So only do this option if you are a little bit experienced
in the transportation industry or at least know some stuff about it or have a little bit of experience somehow. The other option is go get your CDL. And what that means is when you go get your CDL, it comes down to three options, three possibilities. First and foremost, you can be a driver, right? There's nothing wrong with being a driver. Tons of people are drivers with their CDLs and that's fantastic, right? Second thing is an owner operator. And that means it's your truck and trailer or you're leasing the truck and trailer but basically you take care of your equipment and then you find a company that leases your equipment and your services. The third thing is you do all of it. So not only are you the driver of your own truck and you'll maintain and operate your own truck but you also do all of the company stuff, right? So all of the company requirements, managing the whole company, booking your own freight, all of that. So you're vertically integrated in your business's operations. And so the first thing that I want to talk about is the company driver and guys, keep in mind, the one thing that I want you to know is, or to understand is that is a W-2 position. If you're working as a company driver
and it's not your truck, you're driving somebody else's truck and they're paying it 1099, that is not okay. That's a big problem. That means they're avoiding paying taxes and ultimately companies like that don't last. And so I did have to go and hire my driver 'cause now I have him, right? I had to go hire my driver and I'm paying him W-2, I'm paying him per mile and I'm paying him on all miles. Not zip code to zip code, not loaded, all miles. So if I send him to deadhead, he's getting paid for that. And I think that's the fairest way to pay. And so that's why I decided to do it that way. I mean, I don't know, we're gonna try it out, we'll see. But the point remains the same, that he is W-2 and I am paying taxes for him to work for me. So keep in mind, if you're gonna be a company driver, you have to be paid W-2. All right, moving on to owner operators, guys. The one thing that a lot of people overlook being an owner operator is that you gotta get your equipment first, you're like, and I've made a video about this before, but I really cannot highlight that enough because I see a lot of people signing up on the website, hey Al, Tim, I'm ambitious, I wanna work. I want you to dispatch, I want you to lease under, but I don't have a truck, I don't have a trailer, I don't have any money. It's like, well, then you really don't wanna be
an owner operator, you really can't be an owner operator. So guys, do not overlook that part, like you will have to go out there and really get your truck and get your trailer and get situated. Do everything on this list and in the driver portion, and then start looking for companies to sign up with. So really hope, I really hope you have a nest egg, or with some money saved up, because it might be two, three weeks before you even start making any money from the company you lease under. So really make sure you're set up really good before you just jump into it and get started. And the thing that I wanna highlight for company owners is guys the insurance, okay? Guys, keep in mind that is by far one of the most expensive things right now, jumping into it, you know? I'm hearing things of like 20, 25, $30,000 a year, quotes, and that means you're now putting $7,000 down. So it's like, that's really ridiculous. So please, please, please, if you like, before you even consider getting out your own authority, make sure you go get a test quote, or test insurance quote first. Now you might be wondering, if you're totally brand new and you don't even have a truck, with the easiest ways to go to a dealership, go find a truck on the lot that you like, and take a picture of that VIN number.
And then when you go do your insurance test quote and they ask you for a VIN number, you give them that VIN number, and you do the same thing with your trailer, right? You give them the VIN number of your trailer as well. And so this way, they can give you a very accurate test quote. Now, what you don't want to do is go give 'em, you know, if you have a Corolla or some kind of like tiny little stan angel. Because smaller vehicles are cheaper to ensure so that I mean honestly my insurance lady told me she was like It's for a 2,500 so 10,000 pound GVWR or less It's way cheaper than over that and so unfortunately because the dually is a 14,000 pound GVWR It is more expensive So make sure you get given the vin number of the truck and trailer that you actually thinking about getting and the last and final Resource guys is the website. I realize my website's a little bit bare bones But that's the website isn't there for information. It's there to actually put you guys to work Okay, and so for example if you are a if you want to be a driver, right? Maybe you're having a driving job is hard, but if you want to be a driver guys That's that's where I'll find my drivers So you go sign up over there now I'm not gonna be the only one that might reach out to you Right be interested in your skills because the point of that connections website is it connects you with other companies that are hiring as well And I get to see you I get to see tons of people that sign up there And I know that people are interested in getting to work, right? So so that's why that website It's like it's a really good chance for you to find a driving driving job now It also works for owner operators Right? You can just select the you know You say you're trying to get work as an owner operator You select what you quickly have and maybe there's gonna be companies that are leasing on that type of equipment, right?
Now to the website We've added box trucks and semis and reefers and flatbeds and all these companies So really like I want that to be like a really good centralized location for people just to find work Right for owner operators to find work And again for drivers for owner operators for companies that are looking for a dispatch service That's all free You know the the companies on the other side are the ones that pay to to get a see Who you know qualified candidates, right? So You You (upbeat music) (gentle music)
