But anyhow, anyhow, I just, listen, you still, you still have the, like, if you've accepted Jesus, you still have the love of God in you, man. And I've just seen that, I've seen that this week. I got one more day in tomorrow, but anyhow, I'm gonna put part one of how to read your Bible, okay? I've been holding on to this because I know this is some rich stuff I'm about to give you. So don't count it out because I ain't got all the videos today. Don't, I'm gonna throw, I'm gonna throw 18 Wheeler. I think I'm almost positive I have an 18 Wheeler video. And then, I got a lot of feedback, so I gotta literally rest my arm. I'm freaking tired. I'm dying, I'm dying out here, people, I'm dying. Oh, man, did I say what it is, what it ain't? Did I say that? Did I say what it is, what it ain't? I didn't.

your administration has to be on board, and your warden has to be on board. That's the only way this happens. The only way I got in Potosi, the only way I got in Boonville. So anyhow, love all of you. I hope today, even though it's shorter, it helps you, it speaks to you. So friggin' honored to be able to serve you. I mean this, man, I see you. I'm just so honored to be able to serve you and help you in some type of way. So let's jump into today's episode. All right, let's go. All right. All right. All right. Have you ever stared at your Bible, maybe late at night when you're sitting down to read it or early morning and thought, okay, here it is, but where do I start? And maybe you just flip it open and you instantly just landed Leviticus. And next thing you know, you're knee deep in animal sacrifices, purification laws, festival instructions. And you wonder if you need a priest, a goat, a tent just to follow Jesus. And honestly, this word that's so life giving can almost be so intimidating. And that's why by far the number one question I get when it comes to the Bible would be, well, okay, maybe not just this one, but it would be, where do I start? And then like, what translation should I use? I'll say this really quick on translation because the Bible sometimes can be so daunting. You don't, you don't want to mess it up. You don't want to have something that misses and misinforms you or whatever translation.

Find one that fits you, that speaks to you. And I know a lot of people have strong opinions on that, but that's just where I'm at. What speaks to you? And then you can begin to study how different translations say different things. But then the number one question I get is where do I start in this? Where do I start? Like I want this book to be as life giving as everybody says it is, but where do I start? Now here's the thing. If you picked up just a regular book, you would naturally start on page one, right? So you would just open up page one, right at the introduction or chapter one or whatever. But the Bible, it's not an ordinary book. The Bible is actually a library of 66 different books written over 1500 years by 40 different authors and three different languages, all telling one unified story and all of it points to Jesus. So here's what I would say. Where do you start? Do not start on page one in Genesis one. That's my strong opinion. And I know it sounds right to go and logical to go to page one. And even it says in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth, and that is wonderful. But by the time you hit Genesis four or 11 or 19, things can get harder to follow and a little tougher to stay engaged in. And then if you do push into Exodus, now you're learning about tent pegs, animal sacrifices, ancient festivals that can feel insanely outdated to us today. And I'll be honest, when I first tried to read the Bible just straight through, I barely even made it past Genesis before I got lost. And by the time I hit Exodus, I thought, what does this have to do with my life? So where do you start? Here is my strong opinion on this. Start in John chapter one.

It starts like this. In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. So you are starting with the creation story when you start in John. But here's the thing, you're going to get to see Jesus in it. And that's the whole point of the Bible is it's all about Jesus. Because if you don't know Jesus, the Bible will not make sense. But once you see him, his love, his compassion, his miracles, everything else comes alive. Now even Jesus showed us this in Luke 24, after his resurrection, it says that he began with Moses and all the prophets and explained how the scriptures pointed to himself. Now sometimes people can take that and say, see, Jesus said we should start with the Torah, the Taurus, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, the writing of Moses. But then the context. These guys already knew Jesus and they had seen him live and die and rise again. So of course, starting with Moses made sense because they already had the lens of Jesus in place. But for us, if we jump straight to the Torah without first understanding and knowing Jesus, we'll miss the whole point. We need a clear view of him is what I'm trying to say. And once you see him in John, then we can go back to Moses and the prophets and recognize all of it was pointing to him. Let me just sell the book of John a little bit for you here. You're going to see Jesus's personality. You're going to see his love for people. You're going to see his provision, his compassion. Some of the most important chapters in all of scripture are found right there in the gospel of John. Then of course, you're going to see the ultimate demonstration of Jesus's depth of love for us on the cross. And you also see him in real life moments with his disciples. And I'm honestly so glad that the gospel of John was written because without it, there's so much we would miss. So I would start there in the gospel of John, then maybe flow right into Acts where you see how Jesus's early followers lived their faith out. It's like you walk with Jesus and John, and then you walk with his followers in the book of Acts. Then in my opinion, move to John's epistles and read those. All right, go read the letters from John first, second and third John. And here's what I want you to get. Please don't miss this part. Don't just do it to just try to consume as much. The Bible is not about information. It's about formation and seeing Jesus for who he is, to be with him, to be like him and to do what he

did. So take all of this, the book of John, the book of Acts, John's letters, first, second, third John, take them in small chunks, meditate on them. I'm not a, this is my personal opinion. I'm not a big fan when it's a chapter a day or a Psalm a day, or like, because what if you need three chapters that day? Or what if you just need a paragraph that day? Take them in small chunks, meditate on them. That's what scripture tells us to do. And look for what stands out to you. Don't rush through it. Here's the thing. Please hear me. Do not rush through it. Like you're cramming, you know, for a test, right? Let it sink in like a good meal that you actually taste and enjoy. And then once you spent time there, yeah, go back to Genesis. But when you do, you'll see it all illuminated through Christ. And Genesis won't just look like an origin story anymore. It would look like the setup to the greatest story ever told the story of how God has always been pointing us to Jesus. And in that moment, you'll realize you're walking the same road. Those disciples walked in Luke 24, when Jesus himself opened their eyes and showed them that every page, every profit, every promise had been pointing to him all along. All right. Chances are you open the Bible because you wanted to know God. You wanted to hear his voice to understand what people mean when they say, man, this book will change your life. But if your first stop was Leviticus or Ezekiel's visions, or especially in our day and time, the book of revelation, it might have felt like stepping into a foreign language, wrapped an ancient law code or a wild symbolic dream. Like you ate a bag of mushrooms. And if you walked away thinking, you know what? Maybe this isn't for me. I get it. I truly do. I remember the first time I opened to Ezekiel three paragraphs in, I was reading about strange creatures, uh, fire and wheels covered in eyes. And I thought to myself, self, I have no idea what is happening, but I'm pretty sure this is absolutely weird later. I tried to start in the book of revelation because I thought if I can understand that the end of the world, it'll prove I'm serious about God. But instead of feeling closer, man, I felt more confused. And sometimes we think starting with the hardest parts of the Bible is like, like it's something that shows God. We love him more, but he isn't grading us on difficulty level. He's inviting us to know him through his word. The truth is the Bible has all kinds of writing. Some parts are clear, straightforward stories, and others are dense, maybe poetic or full of symbolic visions. Now, if you're just starting diving straight into the hardest parts is like trying to clown, climb a clown, clown and climb Mount Everest before you've even walked a mile. And those difficult books, listen, they're not

any less important. In fact, they have a ton of treasures in them, but they're treasures. You'll appreciate more once you have a solid foundation. Now, even Jesus, he wasn't just like, go for it. He even gave people a starting. Luke 24 27 says beginning with Moses and all the prophets he explained to them What was said in the scriptures concerning? himself, he didn't just drop them into the deep end of Prophetic visions without context he started by showing them how everything pointed to him Starting with Jesus and it changes everything because without him as your lens if you will the Old Testament, man It can feel Disconnected this collection of rules and stories in ancient history But when you know him first the law becomes a promise of his coming and the prophets become heralds Announcing his arrival and the wisdom books reveal his heart It's like watching a complex movie series and if you start with a Complicated sequel you'll miss all of the connections, right? The emotional weight. That would be a part of it all this like Oh, okay. There's aha moments, but start with the main storyline and suddenly guess what happens Everything begins to make sense all the prequels the side plots all that comes alive and I remember it listen I've read Leviticus after a couple months in the Gospels at one point and it was like a light turned on like the sacrifices man They they weren't just ancient rituals anymore. They were vivid previews of Jesus's sacrifice The festivals weren't just old traditions. They were celebrations Foreshadowing the kingdom that he was bringing now. Here's the thing to get practical if you're starting Fresh in God's Word, right? Here's what I want you to do begin with John for a deep look if you want deep Okay Go to the book of John and for a deep look at Jesus's heart then then you could go read the book of Acts from there to see how his followers lived out this mission and if you Want something like hey, I want some more

Okay Go to Galatians Philippians Ephesians and you can kind of understand life in him go to the Sermon on the Mount and just go through that slowly Then Go back to Genesis Exodus Leviticus Ezekiel revelation Explore the prophets the wisdom all of that the end of the world, whatever and yes, maybe even go and and read Daniel I don't know. But then what's happening is you're not just reading you'll be seeing the threads that lead straight to Jesus So don't let the hard parts be your first impression. You're not muscling your way to show it start where the road is clear So you can build confidence? Understanding a union that's deeper with him and joy and the mountains man They'll still be there those mountains of books and scriptures and when you climb them with Jesus though as your guide You'll see just how breathtaking the view really is All right, if you've ever opened your Bible and read a story there's a chance that maybe you thought this that was nice That's cool. But what does it have to do with me? Maybe it felt like maybe just a little kid's story like Jonah and the whale or Daniel in the lion's den or David and Goliath Like there's good morals, maybe some courage or faith lessons But here's the thing. These aren't just moral tales or history even their gospel windows every story in Scripture is whispering the name of Jesus to our hearts and when we learn to read the stories that way the Bible moves from just being a book of heroes To a being a book about one to be cheesy one true hero being Jesus himself Now we have made this point in a few of the videos John 539 He told the religious leaders you study the scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life But these are the very scriptures that testify about me Luke 24 after the resurrection Jesus literally would tell him listen the the two fools on the road to Emmaus Beginning with Moses and all the prophets he explained to them what was said in the scriptures concerning himself Think about that every page of the Bible Genesis to Revelation is a signpost to Jesus Noah's Ark wasn't just about Surviving a flood. No, it was a picture of God's rescue in Christ

The Passover lamb wasn't just about Israel leaving Egypt It was pointing toward or forward Excuse me to the Lamb of God who would take away the sin of the world The Bible is a unified story that leads us to Jesus But we often stop short just read it as history or worse just as a list of morals and here's the thing I remember Sometime man has been it's been a good little while someone walked me through the story of Joseph and Genesis In this way, he was betrayed by his brothers. He was sold for silver He was falsely accused yet raised up to save not only his people But the nation's and suddenly the dots connected Joseph's Joseph's life Was foreshadowing Jesus who was betrayed sold out falsely accused and then raised him to bring salvation to the whole world That story of Joseph wasn't just about him being faithful in tough times It was about Jesus being faithful to us And once you begin to see it in one story, you can begin to see it everywhere even Moses Leading the people out of slavery points to Jesus leading us out of sin David defeating Goliath points to Jesus defeating death and even Jonah in the belly of the fish Jesus himself said as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the fish So will the Son of Man be three days in the heart of the earth? So here's the thing These stories and they're not just random They're like this tapestry and Jesus is the thread that holds it all together So when you go and actually read these things with Jesus at the center and it just opens the whole Scripture up now, here's some steps that you can try this week first read the story at face value What's happening? What's the context? Who are the characters? What is the conflict? What is the covenant that they're in then ask? Okay, where is Jesus in this? Is there a pattern of rescue or sacrifice or deliverance a king a prophet a priest those patterns all lead to Jesus and then finally bring it to your life. Okay. How does Jesus want to meet me in this story today? If he's the greater Moses, how is he leading me out of bondage if he's a greater David? What Giants in my life do I need to trust him to? Defeat I think you get the point, but here's the thing

The Bible is full of man incredible characters, but none of them are the main subject Every one of them points to Jesus and when you read it this way The Bible stops just being ancient history and becomes a living testimony of Christ who he is What he's done and how he is still writing your story today So the next time you open your Bible Don't just look for moral lessons look for the Messiah because every story is ultimately his story Oh Could not be much more from the heart for ever trusting who Nothing else it matters I've never opened it myself this way Life is ours.
