The Toughest Question
In Luke 6, Jesus asks one of the most uncomfortable and important questions in Scripture: “Why do you call me Lord, Lord, and not do what I say?” This message looks at what it really means for Jesus to be Lord, not just Savior, and how the throne of our heart is often occupied by fear, anger, ambition, depression, addiction, emotions, trauma, or even our own desires.
This is not about earning salvation or trying harder so God will love you. It is about responding to the love of Jesus by learning to live with Him, listen to Him, and actually put His words into practice. When Jesus is King of our heart, He begins forming good fruit in our life and a foundation that can stand when the storms come.
Hahahah! I wanna eat... chomp chomp chomp chomp hm hm hm hm hm hm hm hm hm hm hm hm hm hm hm hm hm margin hm haha hah spear hehehe jaaaa music But it is what it ain't! It's time to put another one in the living in a van down by the river! Hell y'all! With a pierce in my eye! It's time! Oh, whoa! Whoa, whoa! Oh, my own self came flying at me. My goodness. Anyhow, my goodness, what a way to start. What it is, what it ain't! It's time to get another one in that Pando app Bank, baby! Welcome everybody wherever you are watching at all over uh, the United States of America, part of the DOC family right here at Champion Church. My name is Trevor. I'm a part of a very small church here in Northeast Florida, just south of Jacksonville, pretty much between Jacksonville and Daytona is the best way to describe it. And speaking of, I want to say this, man, shout out down there to Mocha, Ben made this, Ben of the guys down there. I think it was the rest of the crew.
I don't know if it was just you, but anyhow, thank you so much, man. Really, really appreciate you making this down there at the Tamoka War Camp. This thing, goodness. Yeah, so to Mocha Trev, keep on truckin'. Keep on truckin'! What's up, mother truckers! I probably need to clip that out because I'm not trying to get blocked. Anyhow, I got that up there. I should have put that in a better spot. Anyhow, thank you so much for that. It means the world. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Uh, what was I saying? Oh, my name is Trevor. I'm part of a small church here in Northeast Florida. This is where I was going with it, in between Jacksonville and Daytona. We are in St. Augustine, old St. John's County, is where we are at. A small church with an incredible DOC family. Hopefully you're part of it. Hopefully you, who is texting me? Who is texting me? I don't have time. I don't have time. Um, anyhow, hopefully you're a part of it. If you've hit subscribe, man, that's what matters, being a part of what we're doing here, discipling with us and just trying to figure out, hey, how do we champion this season through Christ? That's our whole part of the, point of the church is to help you champion every season. Right now, even where you're at, sitting behind bars, sitting behind a fence, sitting in a work camp, a detention center, a county jail, a prison, whatever it might be, to help you champion this season. Because if you are still breathing, man, listen, God still has a purpose. And I don't care how cliche that sounds, because a lot of times like, yeah, okay, no, seriously, like either, either the Bible is true or it's not. And sometimes that's just what we have to decide in our heart. Like if it's true, then I am still breathing because I still have a purpose. Yeah. Okay. You screwed up. Okay. You messed up. Okay. There's sayings that you wish you could do different, but listen, there's nothing you can do about it now, except if there's a way you can make it right, make it right. Ask for forgiveness from God, from people, all that kind of stuff. And then just begin to walk with him. I'm starting, I'm starting to preach early y'all. Cause I feel like I'm in a hurry today. Oh, let me catch my breath. Uh, just really, really slamming at work. I, I, I was thinking about this literally when I was driving over here, I was like, man, I never wanted to come off like, oh, I'm so busy. Cause listen, everyone is to an extent. Um, but the point is just like this season
for, if you don't know, I'm a volunteer at the church. We don't have any staff members right now. I work just a normal job. I work outside. If you go back and watch some past episodes, you can kind of see what I do. Uh, we have a, a pretty big thing. I said this the last couple episodes, a pretty big like paver project. And it turned into an absolute, um, I want to say nightmare is just, it was just a lot. It was just still is a lot coming to the end, but just kind of running, running, running right now. Um, especially just summertime. I work outside, do that kind of stuff. And it's in Florida, man. It's already hot. If you're, if you're in Florida, you already know that it's already hot and humid and all of the above, all the above, all the above. What was that? It was that T-Pain. Anyhow, I've got to quit rambling. Um, so just kind of running and gunning today as well. Had a pretty decent weekend. Okay. Weekend. Um, it was okay. And I got to go fishing with Jason last for a couple more hours last week as well. Had a really good therapy session. That's really messed me up. Uh, I don't know if y'all have ever had one of those sessions where you're like, man, that was great. And it's really messed me up of just some different ways. And I'll probably talk about it a little bit today and get a little vulnerable. As y'all know, I like to do, um, of just some different things that God has shown me right now. life in my own emotions and how sometimes I let them sit on the throne of my life way way way too much but yes we got to get out there I was super proud of him because he caught that shark like usually he'll catch the bait but I'm still gonna cut it and and you know bait it and all that kind of stuff even cast it with those bigger rods and stuff and but for him to be able to do all of it from bait he rigged it up it was his own rod and reel all that kind of stuff and the land that little shark all that even getting in the boat like I was just super proud of him it was a cool dad moment for me yep get him out of the motor okay careful with your drag that tight all right it's okay let him go all right tighten it a little bit he's hooked how would you even say that don't even say that here we go right there there he is that a baby good job bud yeah release him good job that's about it man I want to jump into it into the rest of episode if you've never seen one of our episodes essentially I kind of ramble like this give you just some housekeeping stuff encourage everybody
man pick up an oar if you if you had been doing that the last couple weeks sorry about that for y'all to have headphones on here's what we say man Champion Church is like a rowboat the only way it moves forward is everybody's rowing and you're like yeah but I'm sitting in the Department of Corrections that doesn't mean you can't row that doesn't mean you can't tell somebody about it doesn't mean like when someone's going through something you say hey listen you know what I watch this episode from Champion Church a couple weeks back and you go find in the archives and tell them about it that's rowing you tell somebody back home hey listen go subscribe to this church on YouTube that's rowing that it's it's a way of just doing what you can where you are you're letting me know hey let's see these things I want to see some videos on X Y or Z as long as it is DOC appropriate let me make that clear because some of the things y'all want I'm like guys there is no way I could put that on here and I get flagged and all that kind of stuff so anyhow man everyone rose this is just and as in you doing this here's what I want to say I was telling somebody this this past Sunday they were it was something it was like a very very minimal task they're literally just like helping us with this big banner that says entrance essentially and you know I'm not doing much I'm just I'm just taking this down I said listen doing these little things with the flags and banners that we put out every Sunday is just as important as what I'm doing this is just the seat that I sit in this is just a seat that I wrote from it's the same for y'all if you're telling somebody if you're spreading the news man when when y'all some and I know most people can't do this and this is not like a thing when y'all give I get blows my mind even even it doesn't matter it's about the heart of what you're doing if you're giving advice if you're giving input if you're giving something even money which is crazy to me like these different ways everyone is rowing if you're giving somebody like hey you need to be listening to this or whatever might be it matters man it matters I feel like I'm rambling as I always do but anyhow what we do is I ramble we usually do some type of ride that kind of become
the thing whether it's on a jet ski a boat or motorcycle I think last week was a mountain bike that one made me like like even my stomach was like turn a little bit but and then I'm gonna give the message and then we kind of just do some fun stuff at the end and then I'll wrap it up at the end but for now and let's get into the episode oh the ladies and jets all over the US fans seriously so glad to have you with us let's jump into it What is your favourite Superhero? Comment below and let us know! What is your favourite superhero? Comment below and let us know! What is your favourite superhero? Comment below and let us know! What is your favourite superhero? Comment below and let us know! Comment below and let us know! Comment below and let us know! Jesus would ask is in Luke chapter 6, and we've been talking about these questions of Jesus because it's not that he doesn't know He's not like hey fill me in on X Y or Z He asks us questions because he actually wants to reveal something to us It's actually showing us possibly where we're putting our faith is showing us about the direction of our lives And you go catch all of those in the archives and watch them and all that kind of stuff But what we're gonna see in Luke 6 is probably the toughest one that Jesus is going to give and it's gonna be in verse 46 where he says this he says so why do you call me Lord? But you don't do what I say Why do you call me Lord, but you don't do what I say actually what you'll see in Luke chapter 6 Is it's actually the it's deeper than what you just see on the page And here's what I mean by that if you just read through Luke chapter 6, and you didn't realize it was pointing to something Maybe under the surface. You would just see Luke 6 as all of these essentially commands if you will so it starts off talking about the Sabbath right and Essentially Jesus is pointing to the heart of God in the heart of people and then he would call the disciples
He would see would list out all the disciples names, which is kind of important So it's like okay We got to be paying attention and then he starts to teach them this now It's very much the same of what he taught the Sermon on the Mount some scholars believe that is the exact same Message that's happening. Some believe this was just Jesus's core message about the kingdom of God either way What you see is essentially Luke chapter 6 is all about a life that Centers around the Lordship of Jesus now that is a very Christian ease kind of saying so just give me a minute Let me break that down a little bit But it's what Luke 6 is all about is a life that centers around Jesus being the king or the Lord of Their life. This is not a list of things you need to do to earn salvation from Jesus. Absolutely not We cannot earn the salvation of the forgiveness of our sins and the connection with our Heavenly Father We cannot earn that that is a free gift from God According to Ephesians chapter 2 that God gives us that Jesus left heaven. He came to earth He died in our place and took all of our sin and shame and shortcomings upon himself To be forgiven where the sins will be cast as the Bible says from as far as the East is From the West and what all we have to do is say Lord I received the work you did now we can try harder and be like, well, I'm just gonna do it man Listen that never works That never has a long-term effect, but instead if you just accept what Jesus did, see that's the difference of Jesus in any other religion. See, everybody agrees humanity is broken. What everybody doesn't agree is how to fix it. And often all these different types of religion, I talked about this in the episode of Jesus versus everybody. If you haven't watched that, I encourage you to go watch it. The thing is, all the other religions are essentially us and humanity trying to get to either a pardon or to God or to exemption or whatever it might be. But the difference with Christianity is Jesus left heaven and came to us. It's not us going to God.
The scripture actually says that is God's goodness that draws us to him because Jesus came and died in our place and rose again three days later and now invites us into that relationship with him. And let me say this. If you've never accepted Christ, there's a button right below me. I encourage you to do it. I encourage you to do it. Now, don't just do it because I said to do it. Do it because you want to give your life to Christ. I saw someone said this the other day. Man, I've got to be careful how I say this just because I don't want to get flagged or anything. But they said, well, oftentimes the church in the jails, prisons, work camps, whatever, that's for just a certain amount of people. And that's not necessarily for the general population. Man, let me just tell you, the group we got here following Champion being a part of what we're doing, who is rowing with us at Champion, it's not that, man. It's 180,000 of us that say, absolutely. How can I champion this season through Christ? This isn't people just trying to get out of their mess ups. This is people saying, listen, without God, I am a mess up and I need the work of Jesus. I need the grace of Jesus. I need to be a disciple of Jesus because that is where life is. This isn't just get me out of my mess. This is, listen, God is taking me out of a whole entirely different way of life and calling me to walk with him, to commune with him, to abide and remain in him, which is a whole bunch of Christian words that say this, to do life with him, to just do life with him. Lord, how do you want to live your life through me as the King of my heart?
Man, how do you want to live your life through me? That's who's following you, at least with this. I can't speak for anybody else. At least those that subscribe here, that disciple with us here at Champion. And if you've accepted Christ and you haven't subscribed to Champion, what are you doing? Hit that subscribe button, be a part of it. Anyhow, Luke chapter six. Y'all see, I don't even have gel in my hair today. It's a mess, y'all. It's a mess. It's a mess. I love on y'all. Some of y'all like barbers and stuff like that. But Trev, we got to do something. We should cornrow it up on the show. That's what we should do. Anyhow, back to the point. I got to hurry. Back to the point of what I'm trying to get across is that what you see in Luke six is not things to earn your way to God. Okay. This isn't a list of things to do right where you just like, well, I've got to do these things. What you see in Luke chapter six is this. It is a listing of what it is like to sit under the kingship of Jesus, the Lordship of Jesus. I'm explaining what that means in a moment. And when you see that, this is the type of person that we are becoming as we disciple under Jesus. See, we give our life to Christ. That's where it starts. Lord, I accept what you've done.
Forgive me of my sins, my shame, my shortcomings. I am turning to you and I'm living for you. That is what is called accepting Jesus as your Lord and savior. The savior is the forgiveness of what you never could do and to give you purpose in your life. But the Lordship, that's what we got to look at. Because the question this week, again, is why do you call me Lord? But you don't do what I say. The best way I know how to put this as a Lord is this. This is what it means. Biblically, a ruler, a master and king to call Jesus Lord is to recognize that he has the highest authority in our lives and that we're meant to trust and to follow and to obey him. Now, everybody, this is the best way I know how to explain this. Because that Lord, no one's like, I bet you no one said today, man, I'm just letting this greed Lord over me. Oh man, I'm just letting that, I'm just letting that, that K2, I'm just using a random thing, Lord over me. Well, I'm just letting this, this, this depression, Lord, people don't talk like that, right? But what is happening is all of us, whether you're a believer of Jesus or not, every single person that is watching this and every single person that is on the other, that, that, that, you know, and wherever it might be, every person has a Lord over their life. Every single person does without fail. Every single person has a Lord over their life. Now, the thing is this, what that Lord is determines the fruit in your life and it determines the foundation in your life. That's where we're going to go here in a minute. Whatever is sitting on the throne of your heart, the Lord of your life that sits on the throne and says, listen, I'm calling the shots. Essentially that is the Lord of your life. A lot of times you'll hear me say like this, that's the King of your heart. That's what's calling the shots.
Now for some it's the ambition, right? That's what sits on the throne of your life. So everything. thing you do is run through the filter and the perspective of ambition. For some of us it's fear. For some of us it's anger. For some of us it's lost. It could be depression. Could be bitterness. Could be this feeling of loneliness just sits on the throne of your heart and it calls the shots. Could be addiction. It could be emotions. Could be trauma. There's so many different things and the list goes on and on and on that sits on the throne of your life and whatever sits on the throne of your life determines how you act, how you live, how you spend, how you talk. Like all of this is connected to the throne that is in all of our hearts and who is the lord or the king that sits on that throne. Now sometimes if I'm honest, I don't get this right all the time at all. Sometimes the throne of my heart looks like a game of musical chairs. I don't know if y'all have ever played musical chairs where there's like, I'm sure you're not probably playing it in jail, but I mean if you did, that'd be kind of, I guess it'd be unique, but like musical chairs, here's essentially what it is. There's, let's just say there's 10 people where there's only nine chairs and you have to walk around in the circle, right? And then when the music stops, you have to try to sit in that chair and there's always somebody left out. I feel like sometimes there's musical chairs on the throne of my heart. Sometimes my emotions are ruling me. Sometimes my depression that I've talked about so much on this is ruling me. Sometimes my bank account is ruling me. Sometimes it's what I want. Sometimes man, I just get so frigging selfish that it's like, well, Trevor just wants this and I don't know. I'm talking like that, but like there's so many different things I could sit on the throne of our life. But as a disciple of Jesus, here's the thing as a disciple of Christ, it is, has one, there is one person worthy to sit on that throne. It is King Jesus. He is your savior from your sins and your separation from, from the father. Absolutely. But he's also your Lord and you can't read the Bible and not see that Jesus is the only one worthy to sit on the throne of our life. So again, Luke chapter six is not a list of things to do. Luke chapter six is the type of person we are becoming as Jesus is our Lord and whoever our Lord is. Last thing I'm gonna say on this, and we're gonna move on. Whoever our Lord is determines the fruit of our life and determines
the foundation of our life. When I taught this to, to our in-person church, I called the sermon delicious and stormproof because what we should be giving from our life, the fruit of our life, what people, um, get from us, essentially, if you will, like what do they experience from us should be things like fruit that tastes good. It should be things that man are appealing to them. And then we also should have a firm foundation in Jesus that when storms come and storms are inevitable, collapse doesn't have to be. Storms happen to good and bad people every single day, but collapse on that does not have to be why? Because Jesus is the King of our life. Let me show you Luke chapter six. I don't enough talking about it. Let's read it. Verse 43. Uh, you know what? No, no, no. I'm going to jump down. I guess we can read it. Whatever. Let's read it. A good tree can't produce bad fruit in a bad tree. Can't produce good fruit. A tree is identified by its fruit. Figs are never gathered from thorn bushes and grapes are not picked from bramble bushes. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart and an evil producer person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what's in your heart. Now, I just want to pause here really quick. And I did this last week a little bit. I want to do it again. This is not for everyone. And, and, and, but there are some of you that you have been labeled evil. And let's be honest. There are some of you that you were influenced by evil. There are some of you that did some incredibly evil things. Let's just like not sugarcoat it, right? Let's just be honest. I'm not throwing stones. I'm just being truthful, right? Like, like, let's just be honest about it. Now the question becomes, can an evil heart change? That's the question. When society has called you that and labeled you as that, and you might even probably deserve that, but can it change? I want to look you dead in your eyes and say, absolutely. The question is, will you put your faith in the only one that can change it? Your heart can change, but can you put your faith in Jesus? The only one that can change it. I'm going to show you how in just a minute, but I just want to make that super clear. And I love that Jesus is like, listen, you can't hide fruit. If it's good, it's going to come from your heart. If it's bad, it's going to come from your heart. You can't fake it. You can't fake it. He says, what, what you say flows from the heart. We talked about that a couple of weeks ago. Um, uh, forget what I even titled that sermon. Anyhow.
Here's the next part. This is the question of the week. So why do you keep calling me Lord, Lord, when you don't do what I say? I will show you what it's like. Notice these three things Jesus lists here. When someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. It's like a person building a house who digs deep and lays a foundation on solid rock. And when the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. But anyone who hears and doesn't obey is like a person who builds a house on a rock without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against the house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins. Here's what I want to give you just as plain as I can. It is not enough. This is what Jesus is saying. Three things. Come to me. He says, listen, turn your heart towards me, listen to my words, and then do what I say. Jesus says all three of these are necessary if you want to have a delicious and storm proof life. Delicious and storm proof life. Listen, come to Jesus. Turn your heart towards him. Lord, I don't want to live for me anymore. I want to put you on the throne of my heart. I don't want to be controlled by my emotions. I don't want to be controlled by this group of people anymore. I don't want to be controlled by my past. I don't want to be controlled of these things that are whispering in my ear and telling me everything negative and evil to do.
I don't want to be controlled by just someone who is manipulating me. I don't want to be controlled by my own trauma anymore. Jesus, I am coming to you. I don't want to be controlled by my depression or my bitterness or any of this. I am coming to you, Jesus. And then what happens is you listen to his words and you're watching this on an app where there are thousands of videos to do just that, but it can't stop there. See, it's not enough to just admire Jesus. You actually have to do what he says, like it has to move from just admiring and learning to putting it in to practice. And when we put it into practice, Jesus says, listen, I promise you, you're going to have a fruitful and storm proof life. Doesn't mean storms won't happen. Just means you won't collapse when they do. Doesn't mean everybody's going to like you. It just means you're going to have fruit that is good and that produces something out of you that can help somebody else taste and see that the Lord is good. He says, if you want it, you got to come to me. Listen to my teaching and then put it into practice. Two out of three will get you paid millions of dollars in baseball. Two out of three with Jesus as he's saying, hey, listen, you're still missing it. And he says, hey, why are you calling me Lord if you're not doing what I say? And I read that last week and I'm literally at work and I'm like, man, I was like, okay. Even me. Do I know what he said and am I doing it? Like the Christian answer would be, oh, well, God said, love God and love people. That's true. That's a 30,000 foot view. But Jesus actually got way more granular than that. And that's what we're going to look at.
Like, what did he actually say? Like, if I'm going to be a disciple of Jesus, what do I do? Now I laid a lot of foundation this week that I'm not going to do in episodes to come because we're going to get super granular for at least the next three weeks of saying, okay, what did he actually say to do? And what I want to show you, the worst thing you can do is hear this as a list of things, as a list of things to do. But what I, and I'm not saying this right. If you just see this, oh, I've got to do all this so God loves me. That's not, that's not it. You have to see this as, oh, God loves me. He's invited me into the family. And now this is how the family lives. And this is the type of person I'm becoming. And I categorize them at four different things that are relational because again, these aren't just a list of commands I categorize, come on, hooked on phonics, Trev. I categorize them into four different things to make it as simple as I can of, listen, if he said, don't call me Lord, if you're not doing what I say, we should probably know what he says. And then here's the thing. If there's things I'm about to list off that you're like, well, I'm not really living that. This isn't a thing to condemn you. I'm actually going to tell him myself in this, where I'm going to show you like, Hey, there's, there was one of these. And I am, I'm calling him Lord, but I'm not doing that. And guess what? He didn't strike me dead. He didn't, he didn't say, you know what? Get your mess together, Trevor, get your together, or I'm not going to love you. I'm not going to bless you.
I'm not, you're not going to hear it. That's not what he did. I felt like when I realized like, wow, I'm calling you Lord, but I'm not doing what you say. I felt like he smiles like, Hey, I know, but come on, I'm going to help you do it. That's what it felt like. He did. Like, he was like, you're right. I know that. So come on. It became this like, not condemnation. It was literally like this invitation that he brought me into. And so, all right. The first one is this. Don't call me Lord, don't do what I say. What do you say? Well, number one, this is gonna be like, okay, Captain Obvious, he said to live your life with and for him. Live your life with and for God. Five things Jesus, I'm gonna show us that we do that. How do we live our life for and with God? Five things. Number one and two, I guess I should say, Jesus says, abide in me and remain in my love. We'll come to that in a minute. Then he says, don't live on bread alone. He says, seek the kingdom and he says, make a public decoration of faith, okay? So let's take abide in me and remain in me first, okay?
So John chapter 15, verse four, Jesus says, remain in me and I will remain in you for a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. Yes, I am the vine and you are the branches. Those who remain in me and I in them will produce much fruit for apart from me, you can do nothing. Now, that last part kind of challenges our pride, does it not? It's like, well, Jesus, I kind of feel like I can do something. Like, I've done a lot of things without you. So what do you mean? I think this is what Jesus is saying. Listen, you can't have good fruit, a firm foundation and leave something of eternal significance to the Lord without being connected to him, remaining in him and abiding in him. Now, here's the truth of the matter. As you read that, and it's almost like poetic in a way, like, oh yes, Lord, okay, abide in you, remain in you. I guess that means like stay close to you, but what does that look like practically? Like, that's what I had to ask myself this week. Like, all right, I get the abide and remain, but what does that look like practically? Like on a day-to-day basis, what does that even look like? And here's what I believe it does. Dallas Willard defines it like this, and I love this.
It is arranging your life so you can actually be with Jesus and learn from him, not just believe facts about him. John Mark Comer talks about abiding as intentionally remaining with Jesus through rhythms and practices that keep your heart awake to him. It's an intentionality. Here's how I would define it. Abiding is living conscious to Jesus throughout everyday life, is drawing my attention to him in every task. The best way I know how to put it is this. You should have Bible time. We're gonna talk about that in a second. But then there's gonna be other moments in the day. Some of you are in a work camp. Some of you are going out doing things. Are you having moments through the day where you turn your attention to him? Are you having moments in the day where you're like, Lord, I'm about to go and do X, Y, and Z. It's different from everyone. I mean, we've got from Texas Death Row, what's up to all of y'all? Love that you guys are watching and a part of what we're doing. You got that all the way to people who get out in 30 days in county. You know what I'm saying? So we've got all of this wide variety of people that are part of our DOC family.
So with that being said, it's gonna look different for everybody. But the point is this, before just simple task, are you connecting with God? Are you turning your heart to God? My cousin said it the other day so well in his sermon. Maybe I'll put that clip in here because he said it perfectly. The road in this discipleship journey is a relationship with the Father, a personal, intimate, knowing God like a son knows a father, like a husband knows a wife, like a friend knows a friend. I mean, you just pick your favorite relationship that you have in your earthly existence and recognize that it is far superior to that, but that is a glimpse of what God would like to have with his people and this is the road. I want you to walk with me. I want you to know me. I want you to be a part of my world. I wanna be a part of yours. I wanna go back to the garden's plan and walk with my people and have them be with me. This is the goal. It's like, I love what he says. The fact of how you would be with a friend, how you would be with a family member,
how you would be connected with all of them, even maybe with me, whatever it might be, how you'd be connected that way is a glimpse of how he can be connected to the Father all the time, all the time, where you can talk to him and he speaks back to you. You see his words, you have conversations. It's not these big, massive prayers. For me, this is what it looks like for me and then just try to put this into your context. So when I roll up to work, whatever that day is, whatever it looks like that day, Lord, if there's something you want me to see today, I just want to be attentive to you. Jesus, if there is someone that you want, like that I could just, like you highlight them to me and I can encourage them or whatever it might be, Lord, I'm just turning my attention to you. Jesus, if there's something that you want me to see, Holy Spirit, if there's something that you want me to feel or hear, I just wanna tell you I'm available for you to speak into my heart. And then there's a prayer I've prayed for the last couple years, because I've read it actually in Beautiful Outlaw, the book. It is this, Jesus, how do you want to live your life through me? today. How do you want to live your life through me today, Jesus? That prayer is something that I try to pray several times a day. I'm not perfect at it. Let me promise you that. I'm not perfect at it, but it's a way of just keeping my attention towards him. Now, listen,
some of y'all, listen, you're on lockdown 23 hours a day, so you've got plenty of time. Are you just, man, are you learning? Are you leaning in? Maybe you're writing. I don't know. I'm trying to be granular, but at the same time, again, there's so many different people that are watching this in different areas, but for you, are you turning your attention to him, remaining in him? Now, the next thing is I love brother Lawrence said it like this. Let me say this, practicing the presence of God. He was literally worked in a kitchen in a monastery and he said, even washing dishes or making food, man, I was practicing the presence of God. I'm just turning my heart. Lord, is there anything you want me to see in this moment? Is there anything you want to teach me in this moment? Is there anything you want to bring up to me in this moment? I just want to say I'm available to you. I just want to say, you know what, God, thank you that I'm here another day and I'm one day. I'm one day closer to next, but I'm championing this season with you. That's how you abide in him. And when you do that, Jesus says, listen, fruit comes out of that and a firm foundation comes out of that because what's happening. You didn't just go to him. You didn't just hear his words. You actually put them into practice. And when you're turning your heart to him and abiding, what will happen is you'll start to realize, man, you know what? I'm not as bitter as I used to be, man. You know what? I'm actually forgiving. You know what? I actually did have an encouragement for, for, for that lady, or I actually did have this word or man, you know what? I was able to help this person who just got back from court and it didn't go how they wanted it to go, man, or maybe you got back from court and it didn't go how you wanted it to go. But you know what? It didn't send me into a spiral this time. Why? Because you've been turning your heart to abide and remain in him and you're actually doing what he said to do. So there's going to be fruit and there's going to be a firm foundation. I don't know if I explained that. Well, I hope I did. Let me hit these next few. Do not live on bread alone. Matthew four, four. But Jesus answered and said, it is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Here's what he's saying. This is a fundamental thing is you need to have God's word in you. Now, again, here on the Pando app, thousands of videos to do this. I love Bible recap, Bible project, all of that kind of stuff. I'm shocked. They don't trend more on here. I didn't say this earlier, man, when we trend is all of us trending.
It ain't never, it's not just me. It is all of us. So when you see it up there in the top 10, listen, you just say, Hey, that's me too. That that's man. That is who I'm discipling with. This is who I'm running with because champion church is not Trevor. It's not just us that are meeting in St. Augustine. It is all of us. If you are part of this family and you're helping us row, it is all of us. Now again, back to the thing though, I'm shocked Bible project, Bible recap doesn't trend more than they do, but there are some incredible here on this app that you can go and just get God's word into your heart and then go read it. I would hope to God as many times as if I said Luke chapter six in this, you go read the Luke chapter six, right? Read his word. It should be fuel for our bodies. As much as our bodies need food, our spirit needs God's word. He says, man shall not live by bread alone. Listen, you can't just live by honey buns alone. Come on baby girl. You can't just live on them honey buns alone. You have got to live on God's word in your spirit, man, as, as much as you need food, your spirit needs God's word. And even where you are at, there's no excuse. There's no excuse, man. If you're watching this, there's no excuse. I'm just kind of nudging you a little bit. Hey, get into that thing. Here's the next thing I want us to see is if we're going to do it. He says, listen, don't call me Lord and not have my word in your life. Don't call me Lord. And you ain't doing what I'm saying of abiding. Then the next one is, Hey, don't call me Lord and not seek the kingdom. Why do you say Lord, Lord, if you don't do what I say, Jesus says, seek the kingdom or Luke chapter six is where we're at today. Matthew chapter six is all. It's like a whole chapter all about seeking the kingdom of God. He says, seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. And all of these things will be added onto you. This version says, and he will give you everything you need, everything you need. He says, just seek the kingdom like he does. He's not like he's hiding it from me. He's like, listen, listen, ladies and gents all over pan. No land. He says, listen, if he will give you everything you need, just seek him. And if you're like, okay, well, how in the world do I do that? He makes it clear. Go read Matthew chapter six. Again, this isn't a list of things to do. This is showing you, this is what a person who is becoming someone who seeks the kingdom of God first. This is what the person does. It talks about praying. It talks about giving. It talks about fasting. It talks about money, not being the Lord of our life. And it talks
about anxiety and worry. Okay, first of all, I'm like, I need all of that. I don't know about you, but I'm not friggin' Jimmy McPerfect. I'm, half the time, I'm Trevor the, is half the time, although I feel like, but I probably need to bleep that out. Sorry, I don't, I'm not trying to get flagged. The point that I'm making is this. This is the one where this week, I felt like Jesus was like, hey, you're calling me Lord, but you're not doing what I say. Because he gives three things in the beginning. He says, when you give. I was like, okay, yes, like I give, I'm generous. I should be, everyone should be. You're like, I have nothing to give. If you have something in your heart, you can give an encouraging word. Man, you can give someone something to help. If some of you, you are able to work, you have stuff like that, where you're able to, man, you need to figure something out. Maybe you bless somebody, and your pod was, we need to, listen, a disciple of Jesus needs to be generous, and all of us can do something. He wouldn't have said, this is a part of being a disciple of Jesus, if all of us can do something. It's not just money.
All of us have something we can give. We all have a way we can row, is what we say here. All of us have a way that we can row to make a difference, where other people taste and see that Jesus is good. The thing is this, in your situation, in your scenario, what does it look like? You have to see what it looks like for you, and then, and if you don't know, be like, God, show me. Show me what this looks like for me. Right here, where I'm at, show me what this looks like, so I can do this right. And then, he says, give. He says, when you pray, we should pray. We should talk to God. He actually tells you, in Matthew chapter six, a great way to pray, if you're like, I don't know how to pray. He gives you a way to pray, and again, there's thousands of videos on this app. You could learn about that app. And then, he says, when you fast. And that one hit me, because I felt like he was like, hey, don't call me Lord, if you're not gonna do what I say. My fasting days have become so nonchalant. Those hours that I would fast a couple times a week have become so nonchalant, that I had to repent. And again, guess what? Jesus didn't say, when I was like,
Lord, you know what, you're right. He wasn't like, yeah, you're a friggin' idiot. No, he actually just said, hey, okay, let me invite you back in, and then let's walk and do this together, because that's what a disciple of Jesus does. He doesn't banish you. He says, come on. That John chapter 15 talks about, he will prop us up. He says, come on, now let me show you. And I was like, Lord, you know what? I have not taken fasting seriously. The two times that I fast a week have just been so bland, and I've not really turned my heart towards him. It just became ritualistic. And I was like, Lord, I've called you Lord in that area, but I've not done what you've said. And that was for me. And that's what I saw in my own life. He was like, hey, don't say you're seeking the kingdom if we're not gonna do this part, right? And then the last thing is make a public decoration of faith. Some of you, this isn't a big across the board, this is actually probably the minority where you can be baptized, where there'll be churches that come in and where you can be baptized. That's a public decoration of faith. Some of you, when you get out, you know you need to go find a church and get baptized.
Some of you might not be able to do this. That's fine. God's not mad at you because it's not accessible, but you do need to make a public decoration of faith. Number one was salvation. Pando makes that incredibly easy with the button below me of give your life to Christ. But then also, if it is possible for you to be baptized, absolutely do that. All right, whew, covered a lot this week. Covered a lot of laying ground because we're gonna do this for the next couple of weeks. I was like, okay, well, what did he say, right? Number one thing he said is to do life and live life with him. And that's abiding, is not living by bread alone, seeking the kingdom and making a public decoration of faith. Again, these listing of things that you see in the gospels that Jesus says to do. It is not a checklist that you need to get right. It is showing God's heart for humanity. Like this is who we are called to be. And when you think about it like that, like this is the type of people we are becoming. Like that is absolutely beautiful that this is what King Jesus is doing. Man, for me, I've let too many things sit on the throne of my life that isn't Jesus. Even this week, man, even this week had a thing happen. I was so mad at myself and I got so in my emotions.
It was like I told, it was like my emotions told Jesus, hey, will you get up off? It was like this, this is how I see it. My emotions were like, hey, Jesus, I need you to kind of get up out of the throne of Trevor's life because I'm gonna sit right here for a little bit. And my emotions started calling the shots. And then there was other times where it was like my depression this week, one night specifically, one evening and night specifically this past week, man, but my depression was rocking. And I felt like my depression was like, hey, Jesus, why don't you get up from Trevor's throne, if you will, and just let me sit here for a little while. And I've had to stop and realize, no, no, no, no, no, no. This throne in my heart is only made for one person, and that is King Jesus. And so what do I do? I don't beat myself up. I just say, Lord, you know what? I'm repenting, I'm sorry. I ask for forgiveness. First John 1.9 says that if we come to him and confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us. The question is, will we just go to him and confess? That was two sins this week. I was like, Lord, you know what? I let my emotions get the best of me and sit on the throne of my life instead of you. I'm repenting of that. Forgive me for that.
Lord, you know what? I let my depression get the best of me and just bring me down and I miss moments that I maybe should have been more present with my family because my depression was eating me alive that evening and that night. Lord, I repent of that and I'm sorry. And I even went to my family and said, listen, I'm really sorry that I was like that. And of course, they're like, oh, no, like I was like, I shouldn't be like that. I let my depression sit on the throne of my life. And but but King Jesus is the only one that can sit there. I hope this somehow spoken to you, helped you, encourage you to continue just to walk with him, disciple with him. I'll be back at the end of this to wrap this up. But for now, God bless you guys. I'm going to talk to you, I guess, at the end of this episode. I'm about to say goodbye, but at the end of this episode. It's like a self-control. I can't. I felt this way before. I just think he thinks I'm dumb because when I was six, I used to drink toilet water. Right. When I was six, calm down. I would say, who didn't drink toilet water when they were six? OK, whatever you didn't. But the rest of us. No, no, you don't. We know how to get our vitamins. No, no, I didn't. That's not what happened. I didn't. Well, it did happen, but I didn't see I didn't see a toilet. I'm like, oh, I'm thirsty. That's not what happened. I used to pee in a bed a lot. My mom was like, yo, you pee in a bed too much. You can't have water after 7 p.m. And I was like, that's what you think. I think I'm about to wait till the next day. You crazy. Yeah. So I would wait till my mom went to sleep and I couldn't go to the kitchen. It would make too much noise. So I would go and I would take my shoe as a cup and I would go. Hold on. Hold on. Let me finish, because you don't even know what I'm about to say. Calm down. You're going to feel silly in a second. Calm down.
So I would go to the bathroom. I would go to the toilet. I would flush it first. Then I would take my shoe, dip it in and I would drink it. Yeah, exactly. That's why you don't preach and judge people. So one day my mom was like, go to bed to me and my siblings. And then my oldest brother, Joshua, was like, can I have some water? She said, go to bed. He goes, I'm not going to pee in the bed, mom. It's preaching. I said, don't worry about it, Joshua. I got us. Went into my mom with the bed, went to his bunk bed. I said, follow me. Got to that bathroom. I took my shoe, flushed it first because I'm not nasty. Then you dip it in. Then you drink. He said, that's stupid. I said, you got a better idea, genius. Then he turned on the sink. I was like, that is genius. Let me go grab my shoe. I was like, that is genius. Let me go grab my shoe. Man, that small field over there is a- Man, I'm going to tell you what. I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm I'm riding today! going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm
going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to tell you what, I'm How dirty you gonna ride, Michael? Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! There ya go! Give it one more dash! Oh, look at him! Look at him! Look at him! There ya go! Can you fly? I think you broke the front end! There ya go! Come on! Come on! Come on! Come on! Come on! Come on, Henry! Come on, Henry! Oh, Henry! Come on, Stephanie! Come on, Stephanie! Stay with him, Stephanie! Get on out of there! Come on! Drive it, girl! Drive it! Drive it! Drive it! Come on! Come on! There ya go! There ya go, Henry! There ya go! Yeah! Woo! That looks good down there!
Woo! Get it, Jeff! Woo! Hang on! Here we go! There ya go, Jeff! Come on, Henry! Come on, Henry! Get out of there! Woo! Woo! Yeah! Come on! Drop it faster! There ya go! Stay with it, Robbie! There ya go, Henry! Remember, I was doing this show about three years ago. And it was this big. It was about this size. Almost like 2,000 people. And I was doing this show. And I did pretty good. And after the show, they took me to this room. With this table. Had a pen on it. Like, OK, what do you want me to do here? And I said, OK, I can do that. And they did. They opened the door. Like, 100 people line up at that table. For my autograph. I'm like, oh, sweet. I feel pretty good about myself.
The first lady in the line, she walks up to me. And she goes, would you put your favorite Bible verse under your name for me? Just your name, and then put your favorite Bible verse under mine. Could you do that? I'm like, uh, OK. Um, sure. Well, my favorite Bible verse is Psalm 34, verse 8. It says, taste and see that the Lord is good. Happy are those who take refuge in him. That was my favorite verse. But that night, I forgot the verse. I just blanked on it. You know how sometimes, you know? Like, sir, when you dress today. You know what I'm talking about? It's like your brain isn't... Yeah, it's just not working. So I'm thinking. I'm like, oh, it's Psalm something. I've got to pick something. And I said, oh, I'll just have to make up a verse here. So I did. I picked something. Psalm 38, verse 7. Just picked it out of thin air. Psalm 38, 7. OK, I did it. Like an idiot, I did them all that way. Tim Hawkins, Psalm 38, 7. Hope you enjoyed the show. So I'm driving home that night. I'm like, oh, Lord. I hope that was a good verse.
Oh, Lord, could you change the Scripture if it's not? Just for one night. But he did not hear my prayer. So I get home and I look up Psalm 38, verse 7. And to my horror, it says, lo, I have a painful disease in my loins. Oh, yuck it up. Thanks for the help. What are there, a billion verses in the Bible and I chose that one? And I signed it a hundred times. And sent it out in my own little mission field. Go! Take the word! Don't forget my loin problem. Build schools and hospitals. Don't forget my loin disease. Because you know those people looked it up. You know they did. They probably made a big deal out of it. Come on here. Sit down, kids. Sit down. We're going to read this verse. Turn the TV off. Get over here. Here it is. Psalm 38, 7. Shh. It's his life verse. Shh. It says, lo, I have a painful disease.
It says, lo, I have a painful disease. I shook his hand. I shook his hand. I shook his hand. What was I doing? I knew I. I shook his hand. I shook his hand. I shook his hand. I shook his hand. I shook his hand. Yeah, yeah. Every few years, Hollywood makes a new movie about tornadoes. Now. In 2024, we're finally getting a sequel. Twisters. And I cannot tell you how excited I am for this movie. Also in 2014, there was another one, Into the Storm. But everyone forgets about this one. So, what does Hollywood get right? And what do they get wrong? As a guy who's seen over 50 tornadoes in the last five years, I can answer these questions. The first, and arguably most impactful tornado movie in Hollywood history is The Wizard of Oz. In the opening scene, Dorothy Gale, a young girl from liberal Kansas, is swept away by a twister, sending her all the way to the land of Oz. The Wizard of Oz tornado looks just like a tornado I captured last year near Yuma, Colorado. And if I put them side-by-side, you can really see the difference. really see the resemblance. For a movie made in the 1930s, this tornado is extremely accurate.
Now let's fast forward to the more modern tornado movies. For 1996, I think Twister did a good job. The computer-generated tornadoes actually look pretty good. Same for Into the Storm. Well, except for this. But what about Twisters, a tornado movie from this year? With this shot here, we get a great look at the storm. You can see the storm's updraft base, a clear RFD, or rear flank downdraft, as well as a classic horseshoe shape with the wall cloud in the right spot. This is honestly really impressive, and it looks just like the storm I captured last year. Now how about this shot right here of the tornado forming? The funny thing is, this looks identical to a tornado I recorded earlier this year. Hollywood, so far, you're doing a great job, except for one thing. By far, the most ridiculous thing these movies get wrong is the fire-nado. In Twister, a tornado briefly catches fire, which, you know what, I'll give it a pass. However, the most egregious example of a fire-nado was from the movie Into the Storm, when a tornado consumes and dances inside of a fire. Like, come on. And now it looks like they're pulling the same gimmick in Twisters when a tornado impacts an oil rig. This simply doesn't happen in real life.
Tornadoes don't catch fire and power up like Mario eating a mushroom. Tornadoes are made of water vapor, which is basically the opposite of fire. There is, however, a phenomenon known as a pyrocumulonimbus cloud, which is a large smoke plume that has been known to cause fire whirls or fire-nados. However, these are not at all associated with the conditions that produce tornadoes. But there is one example back in December of last year when a tornado hit a power station, resulting in a brief fireball going right through the tornado. What's interesting is that the fireball actually caused the tornado to briefly disappear, but the tornado quickly reformed. This right here was a freak one-in-a-million incident. But for some reason, Hollywood directors absolutely love to light their tornadoes on fire. Do you ever see anything like this? Not like this. The other issue I have with all these movies is that they portray storm chasing as easy. It's almost as if the characters just drive up to any thunderstorm, and boom, there's a tornado. But this cannot be further from the truth. In reality, 99% of storm chasing looks like this.
Just driving on the highway, and even on the days with really big tornado possibilities, tornadoes are not guaranteed. And sometimes, even storms are not guaranteed. I've had days where I drive all day, get to a storm, just for it to die. And in 2020, I went an entire season without seeing a single tornado. In the movie, Twister, Bill and Joe were inside three different tornadoes, three, within only two days. And it looks like they're going to do the same thing in Twisters. These movies make it seem like the goal of every storm chaser is to get inside a tornado, but that's not true at all. The primary goal of storm chasers is to get quality close footage and get out safely. And if anyone can tell you this, it's me. Because last year, I made some really dumb decisions and ended up inside of a tornado while I was driving my Prius. Yeah, I know, I'm an idiot, but that's just the thing. Being inside of a tornado is extremely dangerous and is not something you would ever want to do unless you're driving a vehicle that was made to take an impact from a tornado. The two main ones you'll see out in the field are the TIV and the DOM. So there is some truth to the tornado tanks
that are shown in the movies. But the truth is, that's only two vehicles. A vast majority of chasers are actually out in regular, fuel-efficient cars. Look at this. One thing these movies seem to get right are the social dynamics of storm chasers. In Twister, some of the chasers are weirdos. This sucks up. Which is very accurate. Yes, it's gonna tornado! There was also a serious tension between the protagonists, Bill and Joe, and the bad guys, Dr. Jonas Miller and his crew, because they were in it for the money, not the science. And I think that dynamic actually exists today. Although, I wouldn't say either side is bad. You have the Dow team or the Doppler on wheels that's out gathering data. And then you have most other chasers who are out getting footage to sell to news stations. Even though there's different motives, all storm chasers are extremely passionate about what they're doing. So for the most part, people get along. Unless it's on Twitter. A trend I've noticed is that these movies all depict the same thing at the center of tornadoes, a calm eye, just like the eye of a hurricane. At the end of Twister, you can see the eye of the tornado
when Bill and Joe look up while they're at the center of the tornado. And the eye of the tornado. a main plot point in the movie into the storm where this dude's entire goal was to record the eye inside of the tornado the eye of the tornado and well spoilers he achieved his goal but is there a calm eye at the center of tornadoes well that might actually be the case dr. Ted Fujita made note of an eye in his 1965 Palm Sunday analysis so the eye of a tornado might not just be a thing in the movies I really think this topic deserves further investigation we're in the eye how about the sciency stuff in the movies the radar looks good in twister and the radar looks good in twisters however I've heard some rumors that the new movie will be exploring unique tornado stopping techniques like maybe exploding the center of a tornado and well basically this would never work supercells are so large and are releasing so much energy the only bomb big enough to stop a tornado would have to be nuclear and exploding a nuclear bomb over populated areas introduces way more problems than the tornado itself also I find the entire premise of Dorothy and twister to be super interesting gathering data with multiple instruments is somewhat realistic although in the movie they say that we don't know what happens around tornadoes and that is just simply not true we do know what happens around tornadoes it's just that we can't measure the wind right at the ground the most cutting edge tornado research is now done on computers specifically by dr. Lee or one other big issue I noticed in the twisters trailer was the fact that the characters took cover in an underpass and while tornadoes and underpasses go together I think that by now we should all know that taking cover in an underpass is not the appropriate thing to do underpasses have been shown to funnel the air resulting in even stronger winds so maybe they should have went into this ditch or maybe they should just not have been in this position in the first place how about this shot of a wind turbine getting tossed by a tornado if you were to talk to me a year ago I would have
said this was impossible because I saw a tornado hit two wind turbines and all it did was bend the blades however earlier this season I was chasing a tornado that destroyed multiple wind turbines so this is actually possible but only if it's an extremely strong tornado now I have to address the most ridiculous thing shown in any of these movies when a tornado overtakes an airport causing a Boeing 747 to take off and while this might look ridiculous if we look up the takeoff speed of a Boeing 747 the wind needs to be moving at least 184 miles per hour which is well within the possibility of a tornado so believe it or not this is actually possible I don't know she was like 90 for real I don't know I don't like guessing women's ages cuz I'm a genius I'm not stupid it's a trap ain't it oh yeah you don't guess woman's especially someone younger they flip out you could be close to the age they still flip out will you like we like 25 or so I'm close enough older women as long as you're within the same century they're fine I don't even care anymore you'd be like after the moon landing you such a gentleman oh my god and dudes we try to act like we don't care right we care I know I care I know I'm getting older right I know I'm getting older when I was younger people used to tell me all the time don't worry about a preacher you got your whole life ahead of you you know they tell me now you still got time that's they tell I guess it's one dude's age this I know any men care about your agency being guests because I went to the bathroom and I guess it's dudes okay well let me explain that I'm just not kicking down doors how old are you and I'm not doing it right I was what happened was I went to use the restroom because I drank a coffee that you know earlier that day I don't know if y'all drink coffee but I don't normally drink coffee and when I do I feel great I'm like man I'm so energized and I feel alert and I just why don't I drink more coffee and then my like this is why and it snuck up on me and I went to the bathroom I was like you know I mean you ever do like you got a sauce on your way like I gotta go to the bathroom right I went to the bathroom and it was weird because I went to the you ever go to a public restroom and you're not gonna start to see if someone's in there right I knocked
on the stall of the guy inside said it's open I don't know what he expect me to do scoot on over like it was weird so I went to the next stall right and I'm walking out walking out to wash my ass cuz I'm not a nasty Actually, it's because someone else is in the bathroom, because if I was by myself... Yo, you ever use the bathroom and you're about to leave and someone walks in, you're like, I gotta wash my hands now. So they don't know the truth. Yeah, I just play, I always wash my hands. Anyway, so I'm walking out to wash my hands, and then the dude in the other stall, he just kind of slides out the bathroom, right? I'm like, what is this dude doing? So I greeted him, I was like, hey man, how are you? Grown man. He goes, son, you went great. It's my birthday. I was like, that was weird. But happy birthday, sir. How old are you? He's still grown at this point. He goes, guess how old I am. I'm like waiting on backup dancers to pop out the other stalls at this point. Guess how old he is. I was like, I guess how old you are. I'm not dumb, though. I'm not dumb, all right? If someone looks like they're over 50, guess what I... This is a tight jacket. All right, so... All right, anyway.
So he's like, guess how old I am. I'm not dumb. If you look like you're over 50, guess what I do? I guess 10 years younger to make you feel good. I don't guess five. I guess 10 years younger. I lie. He looked like he was around 50, so I was like, how old are you, sir? He's like, I don't know, 40 or something. Then he was like, how'd you know? And I was like, dang. Like, what do you eat? Cigarettes? Like, why do you look like that? You look so... How many kids do you have? He's like, 11. I was like, that's why you look like that. If you ever see anybody with a bunch of kids, but they look amazing, it's because they don't take care of their kids, okay? They are not stressing out. Like, my dad probably looked the same age as me, because I never met him. So he probably looks like 28. That's weird that you clap for that, bruh. That's kind of weird. Hey, daddy, go! That's not something you clap for. Look, man, I don't care. Some of y'all grow up with... Some people grow up with two sucky parents, right?
I grew up with one amazing mom, so I feel blessed, man. I feel blessed. Yeah. Is she crazy? A little bit. But you're going to be crazy raising four kids. I used to hate my dad growing up. I'm like, when I see him, my... Can't believe he left. Then after a while, I was like, I get it. I got why he left. I'm not even mad he left now. I'm mad he didn't take me with him. I'm like, you knew? What kind of father just needs a son? We've all witnessed fights between predators and prey. But sometimes, massive altercations break out between two predators. It could be because of territorial disagreements or simply over food. Have you ever seen a cheetah and leopard fight? How about a lion and tiger facing off? If you haven't, then strap in for a glorious ride. Today, we will show you 19 moments when predators fought against each other. Without further delay, let's begin. 19. Monitor Lizard vs. Snake Monitor lizards and snakes have a tense relationship, and they frequently eat each other. The venomous rattlesnake often scares away predators with its rattle. But when a monitor lizard comes after it, there's very little the rattlesnake can do to save itself. As you can see, the monitor lizard swallows the snake down
and doesn't seem the least bit worried about getting bit. Pythons are strong opponents for monitor lizards. These serpents have the capacity to choke the lizard's neck and swallow it whole. It seems that the python wants to do just that here, too. But its opponent is able to escape being constricted. Now, the snake is in trouble, and the monitor lizard looks like it's winning this fight. A lizard attacks a gopher snake in this video. To ward off predators, the serpent makes a rattlesnake-like sound. This monitor lizard is not bothered and tries to attack it. Despite its excellent hunting abilities, the gopher snake tries to strike, but the monitor bites the snake's tail and slowly swallows it down. In this next video, the monitor lizard targets yet another python. What's interesting is that almost every time, they go for the head of the python, not the tail. The lizards must be aware that these serpents have no venom. The lizard quickly crushes the snake's head. 18. Jaguar vs. Caiman Caimans are close cousins of alligators. They, too, have a strong bite force, but are smaller. This small size sometimes makes them vulnerable to fatal attacks by jaguars. In this clip, a jaguar observes a giant caiman swimming in the lake. It dives into the water and catches the enormous caiman with its powerful jaws for a flawless kill. The caiman is unable to retaliate. Its powerful jaws appear to be useless here. Soon, the big cat disappears with its meal. In the next video, a jaguar swims into caiman-infested water in search of food. The caiman tries to hide. hide underwater, but the big cat spots it soon enough.
The jaguar bites the prey's neck, paralyzing it and stopping it from struggling. The caiman has no chance of fighting back or fleeing. In this next video, a jaguar dives underneath a lake to catch a caiman. The first time around, the big cat fails and comes up empty-handed, but the second time is the charm. The jaguar grabs the caiman from the back and then swiftly drags it on the banks for a hearty meal. A jaguar watches a caiman swim in the waters. This jaguar aims to kill the caiman quickly using a strong bite on the neck. After the sudden jump into the waters, it takes the big cat just a few seconds to fish out its prey. Then, the predator climbs back up to safety to enjoy its fresh meal. 17. Crocodile vs. Lion Lions and crocodiles have different styles of hunting their prey. While both are accomplished hunters, crocodiles have the upper hand in water, lions dominate on land. Two lions cross a shallow part of the river, but they do not know what's lurking just underneath the surface. As the two brothers swim to the other side, a crocodile attacks them. One of the lions disappears underneath the water's surface. This altercation ends without a tragedy as both the lions escape without serious injuries. In this next one, the crocodile is out of its elements when it attacks five lions, the crocodile, and try to attack it from different angles. The croc snaps its jaw a couple of times, giving these lions a fright, but the big cats remain relentless. They force the crocodile to finally return to the water and save its hide. The lions surround the crocodile and try to attack it from different angles. The lions are visibly uncomfortable in this situation and don't really want to engage in a fight.
The male lion does try to defend itself, but the croc's threatening posture quickly makes him rethink his actions. This pride in particular has no intention of starting a fight with the crocodile. They leave it alone soon enough. 16. Leopard vs. Hyenas Hyenas are accomplished predators but have a habit of stealing food from others, such as leopards. This results in frequent clashes between the two. In this video, even after a successful kill, a leopard needs to protect its meal from the hyenas. The leopard puts in a last-ditch effort as he moves slowly towards the food. We don't know what its plan was here, but as soon as he gets close, the hyena is chased away. Looks like this cat is about to spend the night hungry. In the next video, a leopard makes a kill, bringing down an impala all on its own. But before the big cat can finish the job, a hyena rushes in from nowhere and tries to steal the food. As the two predators fight, the captured impala attempts to escape. Seeing all of this, the leopard panics and flees. But the hyena miraculously captures the impala again. In this scene, the hyena is tearing the impala's flesh apart while it is still alive and kicking. While the leopard may lose its food to a hyena, these cats aren't ready to sacrifice their children to the vicious scavengers. In this clip, a leopard is playing with its cub. After some time, the cub goes off to play on its own, while the adult leopard sits nearby. Suddenly, it notices a hyena attacking the cub. The leopard jumps into action and immediately pounces on the hyena. It bites and harasses the attacker. By the end of the clip, the hyena is nowhere to be found. 15.
King Cobra vs. Other Snakes King Cobras are unique not only because of their venom, but also because of their capacity to kill and devour other snakes. King Cobras have perfected the art of chasing down and paralyzing other snakes with their poison. A rat snake is looking for food in the woods. A colossal king cobra is likewise on the prowl for prey. The unfortunate rat snake is completely unaware of the danger lurking nearby. The king cobra strikes the rat snake with its neurotoxic venom. The rat snake can't move or fight back after this, allowing the cobra to gulp it down whole. A baby king cobra goes out hunting for the first time in this video. Although inexperienced, it's still one of the most venomous snakes in the world. Its target today is an olive rat snake. The cobra paralyzes the smaller snake with its neurotoxin. Then slowly and methodically, the king cobra begins swallowing the other snake. 14. Praying Mantis vs. Praying Mantis Praying mantis are deadly creatures that use camouflage to hunt, but when faced with an army of vicious ants, these techniques do not always work for the praying mantis. Ants are swarming into a spot where a praying mantis is lying in wait. Despite being camouflaged, the army of ants attacks the mantis from all sides. The praying mantis fights back and chops off an ant from the front. More ants arrive soon and surround it on all sides. Next, the ants shred the mantis into pieces. This praying mantis walks into a colony of ants. The ants are in no mood to allow the mantis to walk scot-free. They attack it from all sides, biting it repeatedly. The mantis collapses and tries to fight back, but the odds aren't in its favor. ants rip the mantis apart and feed on it. 13. JAGUAR VS JAGUAR
Jaguars don't just fight with other animals. Sometimes, these fights happen between two of their own kind. The fight can be for territory, mates, or food. Here, one of the jaguars challenges the other to become the new leader of the pack. Seeing the threat, the leader attacks the challenger first. The other jaguar remains unfazed. After a fierce fight, the older jaguar surrenders. He realizes that the young blood is stronger. And so, the challenger wins. The next video shows two jaguars walking along the river's edge together. Then, one of the cats starts to attack the other one. It pounces on the other big cat. A few slaps later, the attacked jaguar decides it's had enough and jumps into the water to escape. 12. CHEETAH VS LEOPARD Cheetahs and leopards might be close cousins, yet they are deadly enemies as they compete for the same food. Some of these fights can also be territorial in nature. A leopard stalks a cheetah and her cub in this clip. This is generally a tactic of removing future competition while they are young and defenseless. The leopard attacks the cub and injures it before the cheetah mother can come to its rescue. The baby cheetah is wounded badly and can't even get up and walk. Soon, the leopard returns to finish what it started. The cheetah mother looks on from a distance as the leopard rips up her cub. Well, here's another video where a cheetah goes head to head with a leopard. But this time around, the outcome is absolutely different. Instead of the leopard dominating the fight and chasing the cheetah away, it's the other way around.
While a leopard can do a lot of things, it cannot outrun the fastest land animal. 11. LIONS VS HYENAS Lions and hyenas often clash in the wild over food. A pack of hyenas can hold its own against a couple of lions. But when a pride of lions attacks, things can go the other way. The real strength of hyenas is that they always hunt together as a pack. Sticking together has its benefits, as this video shows. A group of hyenas surround a lone lion. Obviously, the lion has separated from his pride somehow, and the hyenas are about to take advantage of the situation. They start attacking the male lion, even as the big cat fights back. Just then, another male lion appears in the nick of time. Even 20 hyenas can't hope to win against two adult male lions, and soon the pack flees. Here again, a hyena pack corners a lion. They harass the big cat in every way possible, and the lion really can't go up against all of these opponents single-handedly. But the pride isn't far away. The other lions notice the commotion nearby. Soon, the entire pride is there to help its trapped member. The hyenas disperse, realizing that the lions are here to help their comrade. 10. Tiger vs. Sloth Bear Tigers and sloth bears face off in certain situations. Unlike the tiger's other prey, a sloth bear isn't easy to take down. Both of these animals have sharp claws and teeth that can kill. In this clip, a group of tigers target a sloth bear. The unaware bear walks near the tiger's den. When it finally realizes its mistake, the sloth bear runs for cover, but it's too late. The tigers chase and catch up to the target soon.
They knock down the sloth bear and attack together. The big cats easily dominate the bear here because of their superior numbers. Soon, the bear's body goes limp, and it dies. In this one, a sloth bear is determined to protect its cubs from a tiger attack. As the tiger ventures too close, the bear lashes out at it in defense. Then a major wrestling match breaks out between the two, and neither refuses to give up fighting. Several bites and slaps later, both parties seem to be wounded. The tiger decides to leave the sloth bear and its cub alone. 9. Otter vs. Caiman Caimans can pose a threat to otters that inhabit the same waters. These predators often go after other cubs. But things don't always go according to the caiman's plans. The caiman in this one is weighing to feed on some otter babies. The adult otters in the family know this. If the adults don't act, the otter cubs will likely die. So they launch a preemptive strike on the caiman, while also trying to keep the young otters far enough away from the battle. After a terrible fight, the adult otters manage to kill the caiman. But during the fight, some of the otter cubs also perish. 8. Mongoose vs. Snake Snakes and mongoose are natural enemies that are ready to fight each other at the drop of a hat. Mongoose are resistant to snake venom, but they aren't immune to it by any means. A mongoose decides to take on the cobra in this video. It fights on behalf of the squirrels, trying to eliminate the cobra. But the serpent strikes several times, which the mongoose barely evades. Finally, one of these strikes lands right on the mongoose's face, signaling the end of the fight. The mongoose flees the battlefield.
7. Jaguar vs. Anaconda Jaguars are one of the few big cats that are effective hunters. on land and in water. That's one of the reasons why a jaguar is so comfortable fighting one of the largest snakes in the world. Even though anacondas lack venom, they are still extremely dangerous. Anacondas can constrict around the neck of their enemies, killing them. This jaguar is dead set to kill and eat an anaconda. Here, the snake doesn't get the chance to fight back as the jaguar takes it down expertly. After capturing it, the jaguar lifts the anaconda and carries it away. Number 6. Tiger vs. Lion When we talk about predators fighting predators, there's one battle that leaves people curious. What would happen if a lion fought against a tiger? If that's a question you've asked yourself, then watch this next clip. This male lion suddenly charges the tiger and attacks. The tiger doesn't hold back or run. It stands and fights back. Both the big cats stand on their hind legs and hit each other with their paws. But the tiger is much bigger in stature than the lion. After the fight, the lion tries to assert its dominance. The tiger, on the other hand, doesn't seem interested in conflict and moves away. Number 5. Scorpion vs. Tarantula Scorpions and tarantulas rely on their venom to kill prey. That's why it's interesting to see which of them comes out on top in a fierce battle. A tarantula and a scorpion are facing each other. The tarantula strikes first, but the scorpion fights back. After striking each other, the tarantula pounces upon the scorpion.
The scorpion stings it, and it seems that the game is over for the tarantula. Number 4. Ants vs. Hornet Ants attack together, allowing them to take down bigger prey easily. Hornets usually prey on bees, wasps, and other creatures. But even they have a tough time going up against a colony of ants. An ant army attacks a giant hornet while it is trying to climb a tree. Giant hornets are dangerous predators in their own right. But in this clip, ants seem to have the upper hand. The ants attack the hornet and paralyze it. The hornet's attempts at escape fail miserably. More ants join in the fight to destroy the bug. Number 3. Ant vs. European Wasp European wasps are quite dangerous, often attacking when their nests are disturbed. But a single such wasp won't do against a colony of ants. In this next video, a European wasp comes face to face with aggressive ants. These ants waste almost no time in swarming the wasp from all sides. The wasp struggles, but does not stand a chance against such a coordinated ant army attack. Soon, the ants methodically dismantle the wasp's carcass. Number 2. Indigo Snake Kills Python Snakes are known for killing and eating other snakes. Serpents that feed on other snakes are known as Ophiophagic snakes. An indigo snake is getting ready to fight a python. It pursues its prey and snatches its neck right away. The python tries to wrap itself around the indigo's body in an attempt to liberate itself. The indigo, on the other hand, is much more powerful. It drags the python through the soil till it's tired out, then swallows it whole.
Number 1. Polar Bear vs. Walrus Polar bears are one of the strongest predators in the Northern Hemisphere. Walruses are a preferred food for these bears. They provide sufficient nutrition and calories to bears. In this thrilling clip, a polar bear decides to attack a walrus herd for a nice meal. Once these animals reach the water, the polar bear has little chance of killing them. Despite this, the polar bear attempts another attack as the walrus herd retreats into the sea. The predator leaves one walrus and grabs another, but most of the walruses quickly move towards the sea. When predators fight, you can never say with certainty which of them will win and come out on top. Were you able to pick the winner in any of today's clips? Let us know in the comments. Until we see you again, take care and have a great day ahead. syllables, one word, what you're not going to do. My mother said that a lot when I was growing up, my mother said stuff like, what you're not going to do is keep running in and out of this house. That's what you're not going to do, what you're not going to do is stand in front of a refrigerator and hold that door open. Little boy, that's what you're not going to do, what you're not going to do is sit up. on that phone while it's thundering and lightning outside. The Lord is doing his work. I don't know, what some of y'all not gonna do is sit out there and not laugh at jokes.
That's what y'all not gonna do. You know, cause I do a lot of churches. I don't know if y'all know, church folks can be some funny acting people. I don't know. I don't know if you're aware of this. I ain't talking about y'all. I'm talking about other church folks. Matter of fact, I called this woman from my church. I didn't know it at the time, but she was a part-time Christian. And I apparently called her on her day off. Yeah, she answered the phone with attitude. She was like, who in the blank is this? And how did you get this blankety blank number? And I was a little taken aback cause I don't, I don't curse. Out loud. Keep it on the inside. So I said, this is brother Goodwin from the church. That's how you say it when you're spiritual, from the church. She said, oh, praise the Lord, brother. I was like, praise the Lord. What you're not going to do is act like you ain't just cussed me out on the phone. That's, that's what you're not going to do. You know, at Christmas, we got our own vernacular. We got our own way of saying stuff. For instance, God is good.
And all the time. If you're out in public and you see a church member and you greet them, how do they respond? Y'all just left on that one. Most times people say, praise the Lord. If they're doing well, they say that they're blessed. If they're really doing good, they're blessed and highly faithful. Those are the folks that don't live paycheck to paycheck. Those are the highly faithful. But then there's some Christians, they don't, they don't take responsibility for theyself. And they got a strange expression that they use. They, they like, they like to say that the devil is busy. I'm like, no, you lazy. I got a boy like that. I called his cell phone. His cell phone was disconnected. I saw a couple of days later. I said, Hey man, I tried to call you, but your phone was off. He was like, yeah, man, you know, the devil's busy. I was like, the devil don't work for Verizon. You ain't pay your cell phone bill, man. You ain't pay your cell phone bill, man. Yo, and people love to lie on the devil. For instance, what do we say here in the South when the sun is shining and it's raining outside? The devil is wife. I got a couple of questions.
When did the devil get married? I've read the entire Bible. I've read nothing about a Miss Satan. And who would marry the devil? Who is sitting up on E Harmony looking at the devil's profile? To a girl I know he got problems, but he sure is hot. But I'm a husband and a father, man. I got some kids. My wife and I, we created some offspring. Yep. Yep. Yep. Normally when I say that, more people clap, but I see y'all don't care nothing about my family. It's too far. So I have two children. I have a daughter who's the oldest. We had a hard time trying to figure out what to name our daughter. So we named our daughter a throwback name, like throwback jerseys. We named our daughter Essie Mae Pearl. It's a good Southern name. Little Essie Mae is what we call her. I'm just messing with y'all. You should have seen this look on some of y'all faces. What you're not going to do is sit out there and judge what I named my daughter. That's what you're not going to do. I'm just kidding y'all.
Name is Gertrude. That's my lady. That's worse than Essie Mae Pearl, man. You know, but it's a difficult name in your children. That's a tough task. Wonder place that people look for names in the Bible. There's a lot of beautiful names in the Bible. My name's in the Bible, but there's some other names you probably shouldn't be naming your children, like Judas, Bathsheba, or Bendigo. Can you imagine having a friend named Abendigo? Like, yeah, that's my boy Abendigo Jackson. Those his brothers over there, Shattrack and Meshack. Yeah, they're firefighters. Got a sister named Delilah. She's a hairstylist. This is what they're doing. Hey, round of applause for all the dads. Let's give it up for fathers, man. Round of applause for fathers. And that's one of the things. I want to be a great father. You know, again, my father and I, we had a really cantankerous and adversarial relationship. And we've gotten better over the years. But I'm really I'm really motivated to be a great dad, a great father. I want to be the type of father. My children have warm and fuzzy memories. And they don't have to say, like, my dad made up this story my whole childhood. I want to tell them true stories like this really happened. But I'm always looking for examples of good fathers. Right. So I was looking in the Bible. Everybody's familiar with Abraham. Maybe Abraham, the father of our faith. If you look at Abraham, the 22nd, if you look at Genesis, 22nd chapter, the story of Abraham and his son Isaac, they go to the mountaintop.
They go to mountaintop. God tells Abraham to sacrifice his son, Isaac. So go to mountaintop. Some kind of way, he ties him up, gets him on the altar or whatever, you know, the sticks, whatever he goes to sacrifice him. God speaks. There's a ram in the bush. They go on. Now, the next time you see Abraham and Isaac together in Genesis, the 25th chapter, when Isaac is burying his father, Abraham. So I submit unto you. That incident on the mountaintop was probably the last father son trip. Abraham and Isaac went on together. That probably was the last time Abraham was able to get Isaac anywhere with him by himself. Like, hey, son, I'm about to run down to Damascus to get some livestock. You want to ride? Nah. I'm good, pops. What you're not going to do is get me out here and try to sacrifice me again. Oh, you had me. Oh. Sorry. All the small things. True. Truth. I'll take one. Your ride. Best. I know you'll be at my show. Watching. Waiting. Come. So I will not go. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. So I will not go. Turn the lights off. Carry me. Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Say it ain't so, I will not go Turn the lights off, carry me home Keep your head still, I'll be your thrill
The night will go on, I know it will Say it ain't so, I will not go Turn the lights off, carry me home Keep your head still, I'll be your thrill The night will go on, we will go on I know it will Yo, man, you ready? Man, let's rock and roll Just play No, turn me up Yeah, I think we got one Here we go Tell me, what do you see When you're looking at me?
