Hey there, today we're asking the number one question we get from all of you when you're mailing in and writing in, how can I actually win? I'm behind bars. I am where I am. I'm incarcerated. How can I actually win? And how can you help me champion this season? That's exactly what we're talking about today. Let's jump in. Oh yeah, we are back. What it is, what it ain't is finally good to get another video in the Pando app bank. We have so many, we have what, six go out early part of, I don't, why am I yelling? I don't know why I'm yelling. Anyhow, my name is Trevor. I was saying for the level that we're at on the Pando app, we're only allowed like a certain amount of videos a month and we kind of hit that early. So it feels good to get back in here. We're talking about today winning. Oh, I love to win. I remember the first time I won something, I was playing, um, I was playing soccer as, I don't know, I must've been seven or eight. And that's, uh, that's elf football for, for, for some people, um, which, which means the football. And I was playing this, this soccer game. And I remember true story. I head butted a goal like with, with this massive, I didn't have this big of a forehead then, but just this massive dome, boom on the ball. And it went, it was incredible. That's the only thing I ever remember about soccer. Um, it was great winning. That's what we're talking about. That feeling of it. I don't know about you, your first time you felt like winning. I remember watching it too, as a kid, um, just watching like when Jordan 1998, what is it? Game six against the jazz man. I remember watching that as a kid and just getting lit up about it. 17 seconds from game seven or from championship number six, Jordan open Chicago with the lead timeout, Utah, 5.2 seconds left. Michael Jordan running on fumes with 45 points at the end of the game. You gotta get it out of his hands or, or, you know, we're in Northeast Florida. I think I said my name I'm Trevor or champion church. So glad to be with you here on the Pando app. You can be a thousand different places. Thanks for being here. Make sure you subscribe of course. So you can see all the stuff we're doing, um, was, Oh, so we're in Northeast Florida. So we're just North. Like we're in between essentially Jacksonville and Daytona is where we're at. And so like the Daytona 500 is really big around here. I remember when Earnhardt won in 1998, like I'm, we weren't even, we're not even like NASCAR fans or anything like that. Um, but like him winning was such a big deal. We're watching that on sports center and how,
I don't know, just a feeling of winning of what that was like. Speaker 2 And then I, um, don't judge me for this. And you might already see the belt back here. That's the WWF winged Eagle bell. I remember when stone cold won that. And I know it's not real, whatever. Uh, but I remember Jim Ross, like stone cold, stone cold, stone cold. Uh, but I love WCW as a kid. I love like the sting, the NWO NWO era. I remember sting 1997 Starcade. He wins the belt back from Hollywood Hogan. And again, I know what it is, but as a kid, I was absolutely in love with it. It was just, Oh gosh, it felt so good. It felt so good. It's going to bring back the Scorpion pointed at Brett Hart trying to get him over. Can he get him turned? There it is. I just, I something about winning just something about it. Just light something up in all of us, because I think everybody, I believe this wholeheartedly. I think everybody has this desire to win, to rise up, to beat the odds, to overcome, to let me be Christian about it, to be more than conquerors in everything where we face difficult stuff. But at the same time, we feel God's grace and his strengths to get through it. And we stand over it like, man, I beat that thing. I got through this. It's just something about winning. Let's just watch. I want to watch some more videos. I'm in the mood to watch some stuff. Um, you know what? I was looking at Dale Earnhardt earlier. So of course, all of this kind of stuff comes up here. Let's just, let's just dive in a little bit. Let's just, Oh, Oh, Oh, sir, sir. You lost your tire, sir. You, you lost your tie. Here it goes. It hits that grass. Oh, it's the infield. It's over. Ooh. There's the hand, there's the spin, there's trouble. Harder, harder, upside down. Slater, Slater's... He's trying to make up for it, he's trying to make up for it. You know, you know. He's got it, he's got it! He's got it, he's got it! He's got it, he's got it! He's got it! He's got it, he's got it!
He's a real pro, we have a problem with one of the tires. Bobby Allison. He's got it, he's got it! He's got it, he's got it! He's got it, he's got it! Alright, we gotta stop there. I'm getting too jacked up, getting too excited. Anyhow, here's what I was thinking about. So many of you truly have asked, Alright, hey Trevor, I love what you're doing with the Pando, I have a light with Champion Church to do, and it's different, it's unique. Which encourages me so, so, so much, truly. And if you want to write us, oh, oh, let me say this really quick. We changed our address for where you send letters. Now, if you sent it to the old one, I'm still gonna get it. I read every one of those, I respond to every one of those. But we've gotten so many from you guys, that we had to get a different, not email, we had to get a different address for you to mail letters in. Also, I'm on Smart Inmate, all that kind of stuff. If you want to reach out, I'd love to just connect with you. I do that with quite a few different people, and if you want to be a part of that, man, let me know. But the new mailing address is in the description below, where you can get to us and all that good stuff. But, the number one thing I hear is like, Okay, but how can I win in this season? How can I champion this season? How can I be where I am behind bars, behind these walls? Maybe you know when you're getting out,
or you don't know when you're getting out. You're waiting for, maybe you're sentencing, or maybe you're just counting down the days until you are back on the outside, that kind of stuff. You're like, yeah, but how do I win in this season? And here's what I want us to get, and this is what I want us to see. I think most of us, the problem is this. Most of us think that we need to win everything to be a winner, for lack of a better term. That's the only way I know how to put it. We feel like we have to win everything, but what I want to show you today is that you just have to win today. It's not about what am I going to do in a week, what am I going to do in a month, what's going to happen a year from now. I'm not saying you shouldn't have vision, but what I'm saying is, if we are going to champion seasons, if we're going to win this season, no matter what it looks like, and no matter how outlandish that might feel, we must, hear me on this, we must focus on just today, just winning today. Jesus even said this in Matthew 6. Look at this. Jesus says, remember the Lord's Prayer? He says,
Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy, may your kingdom come, your will be done. Watch verse 11. Give us today the food we need. Give us today. What's he saying? Have provision for us today. Now, if you skip all the way down to verse 34, are you ready? Look at this here, verse 34. So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today. Notice that today's trouble is enough for today. Look at, let's go Lamentations. Lamentations is where we're going to go. Let me, I got to find it. Hold on, hold on. Lamentations chapter three is where I want to go. Okay, verse 21, he says, Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this. The faithful love of the Lord never ends. His mercies never cease. Watch verse 23. Great is his faithfulness. His mercies begin afresh when? Each morning. His mercies are new every single morning.
So what I want to get today is like, we don't need to fix everything in a moment. We don't need to try to carry our past and our present and our future. all at once. Jesus said, again, verse 34, Matthew 6, don't worry about tomorrow because tomorrow has its own trouble. Now, does that mean you ignore your problems and you don't worry about that and just live in the moment? No, no, no. What he's saying is he's actually lifting this weight off our shoulders and that he's telling us God gives us grace, best way to say it, and daily servings of strength that you need for right now. Tomorrow will take care of itself. Your job is just to win today. If you're going to champion this season, it's going to come and wins. I look at it like this. If you take your week and let me find the best way to say this. If you look at seven days, the way you're going to champion a season is if you have four, five, six of those days where you win. Now, listen, some weeks you're going to have seven days a week, man, you won. You did things. I'm going to show you what I mean by that in a minute, but the other ways, and you just need to have four out of seven, right? You just need to have five out of seven. Like I need to win these days. I need to do these things where my heart is connecting with God. I'm not worried so much about the future. I am present right now. I am focusing on the grace that God gives me today and I am just tapping into that. And if I win today, guess what I'm going to get up and do tomorrow? I'm going to win tomorrow. You can't win the next 10 years right now. All you can do. And all we have is today. One of my favorite books is a win the day by Mark Batterson. One of my absolute favorite books. And here's essentially what he is saying that if you win enough days, enough todays, you will look up and realize your whole story has changed. Like that is the point of the whole book. Like just focus on today. Can you do it for a day? Don't worry about the rest. Can you do it for right now? Now I'm going to give you four points out of his book of things you could do to win. And maybe you're going to take all four of these or just one of these. My point though, I want you, I'm going to go kind of quick through these just for sake of time, because we are all kind of on time constraints with these videos. So I'm going to go kind of quick through these. So you might need to go back and listen to it again. All right. So let's jump in. Let me get my notes here. I have some different habits that I want to give you. Habit number one is flip the script.
85% of the targets to Shakir completed. This is behind Cooper who brought it in. Pitched it back to Allen who's going to go to the goal line and get in. Come on, Mike. Give it to him. Come on. That didn't just happen. Come on. That'll get you through surgery. Now, if you're anything like me, the loudest battles in your life, they don't happen outside. They happen right here in your own head. That voice that for me, it feels like that voice never clocks out. That voice that loves to bring up old memories. Like they just happened a few minutes ago in my mind on this track, that voice that tells you that who you were is now who you're going to be forever and who you are still right now. And in a place like maybe where you're sitting right now, where you don't have your freedom, that voice I would imagine seems even louder because it's not like you have these, these bunch of distractions to distract you and take your mind off of it. A lot of times, it's just your thoughts, just you and your story and just you and God. Now, I want you to think about this. You may not control every thought that enters into your mind, okay? But you absolutely control the thoughts that you feed. I don't know if you've heard the old saying that what you feed grows and what you starve dies. What you consistently feed begins to grow. What you leave alone dies. Now, if you choose to flip the script and you are feeding those positive things mentally, that's where the win happens. That's where you can see Romans 12 that says you are transformed by the renewing of your mind. That means God's not limited by your environment. He's actually working in your inner world first. He rewrites the story you tell yourself. He replaced lies with truth and shame with hope. God will flip the script as you are renewing your mind. Let me make this incredibly simple. Romans 12, you're transformed by the renewing of your mind. That means this. You say, the mistake I made is not the end of my story. I'm not the person that people say I am. I'm who God says I am. I'm learning. I'm growing. I'm healing. Even if it feels slow, you flip the script like this. I'm not beyond redemption. I'm actually going to be proof of redemption. And now here's the thing. Here's what you have to yourself. Can I just flip the script for a day? Not forever. Not perfectly. Just today. Can I flip that script? Can I win that today? So when your mind starts telling you that your DOC number defines you, flip it and say, no, God still calls me by my name. When shame shows up while you're lying in your bunk,
flip the script and say, no, you know what? God has forgiven me and Lord, I'm just asking that you teach me to walk like a forgiven man. When hopelessness hits during those quiet hours, flip the script and say, you know what? I don't know the whole story yet. I don't know what God's gonna do, but I do know he is still writing my story. When you feel overlooked, flip the script, man. God sees me even though I'm in here. If you can flip the script, this is the key. This is how you win the day. This is how you stack wins throughout the week. This is how you start to look and say, you know what? I got four wins this week. I got five wins this week. And maybe you have a week where you don't have two wins, but hey, you know what? I'm flipping the script. God is not done. He is still faithful. His mercies are new every single morning. And if I can just win the day, if I can flip the script and win the day, man, I feel like God's gonna stack these things and I'll be able to champion this season. ♪ California love ♪ All right, go. Habit number two, face yesterday, don't live in it. Okay, so let's talk about the stuff
that let's be honest, we can't pretend didn't happen, okay? So we have to be real about this. There are things in life that are not gonna just disappear just because you ignore them and try to flip the script, right? The past is real. Your choices are real. And the consequences are very real as well. For many of you, your past is literally printed on paper and filed somewhere, right? And sitting in a facility like you are makes yesterday and those moments feel even louder because you feel like you can't outrun it. It sits with you, it follows you. It tries to convince you that nothing new can grow out of your life, but I wanna give you some truth here, okay? So here is some truth. You can face yesterday without living in it, okay? So facing it is honest, living in it is imprisonment, okay? So God calls you to the first, not the second. Yes, you have to face it, but you don't have to live in the mental state of it. Here's what I mean. Philippians 3, Paul says that he forgets what's behind and he presses forward to what is in front of him. Now, he didn't forget his past. I don't even know if that's humanly possible. What he did was he stopped living from it and started looking forward to where God was taking him.
He would literally bring his past up quite a bit. So listen, he wouldn't, maybe say it like this. He wouldn't let his past continually tell him who he is right now. Even Jesus says, Luke 9, I don't know if I made that make sense to Paul, but Jesus said in Luke 9 to pick up your cross daily. Pick up your cross daily, not dragging your past behind you, not drowning in guilt. He says daily, which means this, it's an assignment that is fresh, just like his mercies, every single day. Now again, don't get caught up in like, man, I don't know how I'm gonna do that. I feel like this defines me. Listen, can you just face yesterday without living in it for a day? You may need to own your past. You may need to grieve it. You may need some serious healing from it. All of that is 100% real and true, but watch this. You don't need to let it run your life. When a memory blindsides you, maybe you just need to say quietly, Lord, I face this, but give me the grace not to live from it today. When guilt feels like it just grabs you by your chest, pray, God, give me the strength to own it without becoming it again. When someone throws your past in your face
just to get a reaction and you wanna respond, instead just respond and say, listen, the person that they are trying to call out is gone and I'm learning to live as a new creation in Christ. When regret tries to take over your day, just whisper, yesterday is settled, today is still open. When shame tries to keep you feeling so small, just say this, I do this one all the time, shame is not my shepherd, Jesus is. Face yesterday, yeah. Talk to God about it, learn from it, but don't build your home there and just do it for a day. Can you just face it and live not from it, but in the new creation of Jesus just for a day. Stack those wins. How are you gonna champion every season? You're gonna stack wins every single day. Travis Ishikawa. He's won in the ring. The Giants win the pennant. You know what, take ownership of the thing you keep avoiding, right? So every one of us have something in our lives we don't want to deal with. Maybe it's a conversation or a discipline or a habit that we know would help us, but we keep saying, I'll start that next week. And maybe in the place like you're in, avoiding things might even become easier. The days kind of start to blend together and you tell yourself, I'll write that letter tomorrow. I'll apologize tomorrow. You'll get serious about your faith tomorrow. And what happens is tomorrow keeps rescheduling itself. And again, I don't know who coined the phrase, eat the frog,
but I heard Mark Batterson say this, eat the frog. What's the point? Do the hardest, most uncomfortable thing. First thing when you wake up, do the thing that when you just conquer it first thing, you're like, Hey, I'm going to do this. It seems to just set the tone for the rest of the day. I believe Jesus modeled this Mark one. It says that he got up early to pray. So before the distractions, before the voices, Jesus ate the frog first, if you will, eating the frog for you might look like this. Okay. Let's use some examples, making your bunk neatly, because you want to live with dignity. Maybe it's reading a scripture before you talk to anybody else, man, you're going to open God's word and get in that thing. Maybe it's walking up to the dude who offended you and saying, listen, man, my bad. Let's squash this. Let's move on. Maybe it's turning down a conversation though. That always seems to drag you backwards, right? Or maybe it's going to wreck because your body, man, it needs strength just as much as your spirit does. Maybe it's writing the letter you have avoided because vulnerability feels scary. And again, on that point, I'd love to hear for you, right? Me. And again, though, let me ask you, can you eat the frog just for today? Don't worry about tomorrow's frog. Don't try to become a brand new person all at once. No, no, no. Can you just eat the frog today? Just do the one hard thing today. One frog eating. I believe this Mark Patterson says this is better than a hundred frogs avoided tomorrow. And we just have to stack them, man. We're just stacking the wins. How do you champion every season? You stack these wins. All right, here we go. Habit number four, do it today.
Because tomorrow I believe this so wholeheartedly is where anxiety lives. I have learned that most of us do not crack under the weight of right now. We crack under the weight of what might happen tomorrow. The weight of imagining our future, the weight of thinking about our family, our release, our children, our relationships, our reputation, our chances at redemption. Tomorrow is where fear lives. Tomorrow is where the what ifs man are so loud tomorrow. I believe this is where anxiety thrives, but here's what I know. God meets you in today. Jesus said it, Matthew 6 34. Don't worry about tomorrow because God's not given you tomorrow's strength yet. I don't know how many times I've tried to fight tomorrow with the strength today and it's never enough. He gives you what you need for today. Not beforehand, right now. And I think this is why. I think because it's a matter of trusting him. It's a matter of engaging with him to say, this is a day that the Lord has made the one right in front of me. Today in this environment, the day with all of its joys and all of its struggles, like God is in this day. So I want to connect with him. And I have to ask this, can I just focus on today for a day? Not forever, not perfectly, just today. Can I just be present with him today? Now let's get practical. You can choose not to retaliate today. You can walk away from that argument like we said in the last point today. You can encourage one person who looks extremely discouraged today. You can open your Bible, that B-I-B-L-E, that's the book for me, for 10 minutes today. You can pray honestly, not impressively today. You can look for one thing to be grateful for today. You can resist the pressure to follow the loudest voices today. You can choose peace instead of pride today.
You can forgive someone in your heart, even though reconciliation may never happen, but you can do it today. You can breathe deeply and say, God, help me win this moment today. And we know this, if you can win today, you can wake up and do it again tomorrow. And then you'll wake up and do it again the next day. And if you stack enough wins, what are we saying? You'll look back and realize how much God has restored and rebuilt things in your life that you never, ever, ever, thought was possible. So here's the thing, that's how you win. That is how you champion every single season. So let's review just a little bit. We're gonna flip the script. We're gonna flip things. We're not gonna feed this constant negativity. We're gonna flip the script, see it through God's perspective. The second thing we're gonna do is, listen, we're not gonna live in yesterday. We're gonna face it, but we're gonna live in what God has called us in today. The third thing is eat the frog. I don't know why that one makes me like chuckle every single time. You're just gonna do that hard thing, the thing you're avoiding, the thing you don't wanna do. We're gonna eat the frog today. And then the last one is just to do it.
Just do it now. Those things that you see that you know what, I could do it. I heard Bill Hybel say one time like this, man, just walk across the room. Just take those steps and do it today. Like if you're gonna champion every season, this is what it's gonna look like. Now, I know I went through those incredibly fast, okay? Again, it was just for sake of time, but I really encourage you, baby, go back and watch this again. Take some notes, write these scriptures down. I'll put them in the description as well for you so you can process these sayings, chew on these sayings, ask the Lord, God, what do you want me to do today? I promise you he's going to speak to you for sure. Now, we've talked so much about winning. I love winning so much. We have got to at least watch a little fail videos, okay? So I've heard from you guys like, hey, I love when you play the fail videos. I got your back. Let's get them. Before I do that, let me say what is up to Joseph Pena, Joseph Pena and the Roswell crew. What's up, fellas? Great to have you all the way out there in Los Lunas, New Mexico.
Man, what is up to you guys? Thank you so much for watching. Man, it means the world truly that you guys would tell each other about it, share. I know y'all just want to be here for the YouTube videos. I get it. I mean, me too. That's what I'm gonna do. All right, let me pull this thing up. Let's get the fails. Oh gosh, I love watching these things. Okay, got them. Sorry, took me a second. Let's go. This already is gonna be bad. No, Nana. Oh! Oh, Nana, no. Oh, look at this. See, this is why I would never do anything. Oh, goodness, goodness. Oh! Oh! Oh, Forrest, Forrest Gump. Oh, look at this. Look at this. Oh yeah, oh yeah. Oh! This is gonna be bad. I can feel it.
That's a picture of my life too often. Oh, look at this guy. Oh! Oh, oh, what kind of sport is it? Oh, what kind of sport do you throw sticks? Oh, through the glass, baby boy. Bob said, well, this is your first mistake. That was, oh yeah. Look at this. Look at these guys. Oh yeah. What's happening here? Oh, look at that guy. Okay, that was kind of boring. I'm not gonna lie to you. They're gonna get that one. Oh, that reminds me of me as a kid, but it went in. Let's see, hurdles. Oh, oh, oh! Oh, oh my God. Lacrosse, not been my thing. These people are messing their face up. Oh, that made me jump. Boy, that made me jump. Rollerblading. Well, that was your first mistake. Look at this. God. I feel like she deserved that. I'm gonna say it.
I'm just gonna say it. Badminton, they should be hurt from thinking about this. Oh, oh, okay, okay. This was, I can tell you right now, any moment. Oh, didn't see that coming. I was literally gonna say any moment you're going in the stands running, bad idea. Okay, ice hockey, we got to wrap this up, but this is, oh, that looked painful. All right, all right, enough of that. We had some fun with that, a couple minutes of it. Listen, love to hear from you guys. Make sure to like, share, subscribe, all that stuff. Hey, listen, I do want to say this. If you've never accepted Jesus, that's the ultimate win. And I don't mean that in a cliche way. It's the ultimate win. Maybe that's the whole reason you watched this entire thing and we got through the stupid fail videos. Just say this, if you've never accepted him, maybe today is what you need to do. Maybe this is the win that you've been looking for, the hope that you've been looking for. This is what you need. Like don't, listen, don't move past just that. Don't just try to implement these things outside of it. I dare you, I encourage you, take a step with Jesus. Watch the winning truly happen and watch his mercies become anew every single morning. Now, you probably imagine.
What song we're gonna play on the way out of here and I had to switch it up Because we played a lot of rock songs and stuff like that and um, I felt like it was too No one said this but I felt like it was too You know what word i'm trying to use here. Um I'm gonna say it fast in that way. It was too caucasian. Okay, so that's what it was. It was a little much so Let's go to this one. This one's a little bit of a remix a 1950s soul version of this Oh It's good stuff Oh, we're the best Oh, yeah. All right, ladies and gentlemen We are back on weekly here at champion church on the pando app Write me let me know where you're watching.
