Don’t Overcomplicate This

I'll tell you the truth, I'm a little confused by your tactics. Tactics? Yeah, I'm gonna keep acting tough until I figure it out, alright? I don't know why you're telling me, I'm not involved. You made that very clear. What it is, what it ain't, it's time to put another one in that. Living in a van down by the river. I tell you all, with a tear in my eye, it's time. Oh yeah, you already know, you already know. Listen, what it is, what it ain't, it's time to add another one to that Pando app. Bank, baby! Hello, everybody out there in Pando land. My name is Trevor, and I get the amazing opportunity to volunteer as the lead pastor here at this small church in northeast Florida called Champion Church with this incredible, all over this United States of America, all 50 of them. We got, I don't know, a lot of people that are part of our DOC family, that's what I'm trying to say. And I hope, oh, do I hope that you're a part of it. I hope that you're a part of it. If you're not, what are you doing? What are you doing? Hopefully somebody told you about this, or maybe you just found just some random thing on an app. But whatever it might be, truly, I want to be able to connect with you in the best way possible that I can. And every single week, we're right here putting these videos out. You can go back and watch, I don't know how many we got in the archives, 30 something in the archives. But anyhow, the whole point is this, I'm rambling, I am rambling. It's early, it's early morning when I'm recording this before I get to work.

What was I saying? Oh, as a church, our heart is to help you champion every season. That's what I was trying to get to. So like we're a small local church, but we have this amazing DOC family that I would love for you to be a part of. You just hit that subscribe button right there, join the other, there's about a thousand a week that are joining to what we're doing here. We just kind of say when you're doing that, you're discipling with us, right? And just helping you grow in your relationship with Jesus and to champion this season. It can feel like, I'm sure it can feel like you're behind bars because of a mistake or an issue, or maybe even something that was misunderstood or shouldn't have happened, whatever it might be. I mean, there could be a thousand different things, but the truth is this season doesn't have to be wasted for you. This season doesn't have to be something that just kind of goes by and it's wasted years, but you can actually champion this season of your life right now where you are at. And that's what we're doing here on this show is putting that kind of stuff out to help you champion every season of your life. Today, it was our last weekend. It was our four-year anniversary as a church. So we're a young church, four-year anniversary as a church. And there are so many of you that call Champion Church your home, right? So you might be sitting in Oregon, right? So you might be sitting in Maine. You might be sitting in California love. Oh, it's been too long. Oh, oh, it's been too long. Okay, anyhow, the point is you might be sitting wherever, right? But you call Champion home. So I gave a message this past Sunday specifically to all of us.

So you're actually going to see that. This was recorded at our campus here in Northeast Florida. We're in St. Augustine. So we are just south of Jacksonville, about 20 minutes south of Jacksonville. Maybe about 40 minutes north of Daytona Beach. Or if you're a little bit familiar with Florida, we're in between Jacksonville and Palm Coast as well. So anyhow, in our building there, a small little building that we have. Who was texting me? It's not. It was a YouTube notification. Anyhow, the point is I gave – I am rambling because I can feel it. I'm like, I got to go, I got to go. I gave this message to those who call Champion home. So I don't care if you're in North Dakota, okay? I don't care if you're down in Kansas, okay, or Kansas or Missouri or wherever, and you call Champion home, man. This message is specifically for you. I get pretty fired up in it. As always, man, my boy Rick G. This one's hilarious. Go, Lucifer. But you see Jesus dropping that elbow, baby, dropping that elbow on him. I love when I get these things. Jesus dropping that like the macho man used to do back in the day. And then this is also one as well. You see the truck. You see the rowboat. So one of the things you're going to hear me talk about in the message, and if you go back and watch our other episodes, one of the things we say a lot is, you know, for Champion to work, and so we're a volunteer organization. I'm not on staff. We don't have any staff members.

But for Champion to work, it takes everybody in this boat, if you will. which was a bow, it takes everybody rowing, right? So that's why we have the oar here. You might hear people say, hey, I'm rowing with you. Man, it takes everyone. And you might even say, hey, I'm in the DOC, how am I rowing? Well, number one, if you're telling somebody, if you're spreading the word, if you're letting someone know, hey, this is helping me grow in my relationship with Christ. Man, you got to check this out. Maybe you're letting someone know at home the same thing. This is helping me grow. I read all the comments. I absolutely do read all the comments and it's so encouraging to see how it is helping all of you just take that deeper step with Jesus, right? And to champion this season. I got another one in as well. Matthew Hobbs had this done for me, right? And Renee Mallon, Ralph loves you because Rafael Martinez made this. Man, this one is really cool. I think it's awesome when y'all, like just the different things that I do, what it is, what it ain't, what it is, what it ain't. Let's put another one in that Bando app. Something else that happened that was pretty cool this past week, it was one of those weeks where I've been very open and honest

about my depression issues and my chronic depression that I deal with and how I just walk with Jesus in it. But this was one where a lot of things happened. That Luke chapter six, where it says the waves, storms, waves and winds will beat against the house, but it won't collapse. We've talked about that actually last couple episodes in Luke chapter six, where Jesus says that. It's just been one of those weeks, man, where it feels like things are beating against the house, right? And this happens to everyone. Now, maybe there's some perfect people out there. I don't know them, because I'm surely not that. But they just go through life and everything's wonderful, perfect and awesome and great and whatever. But for me, it's not always like that. There's weeks that are great weeks where I'm like, man, that was a win. I was able to maybe do something more than just pay the bills. I was able to do something for my family, or maybe do something for myself, maybe buy a new hat or whatever. I don't know. But then there's other weeks where I was like, man, I'm just really relying on God and just grinding through this thing. It feels like the waves are beating against the house. So I don't say that of like poor mouth,

of like, oh, poor me. I don't say it because of that. I just say it like this past week was one of those weeks. And I found myself, again, like when life does what it does, and life is always lifin', when life punches you in the mouth, you realize right then what the foundation of your life is. Truly, it's just how it goes, right? And it was one of those. And like today, even today, I'm getting too many emails. It's too early for that. Even today, I have some incredibly hard conversations that I'm gonna have to have. And so I've been finding myself just like leaning on God in that more. So let me just say this. I'm not just telling you to be like, well, Trevor, we don't give a crap. I'm saying it because of this. When difficult things are happening, man, notice where you're leaning on. Notice who you're leaning on. When these things become just where it feels like the waves are beating against the house of your life, as Jesus would say in Luke chapter six, notice, man, I can't say it clear enough, notice what you do when life punches you square in the mouth.

Notice where you turn because that's truly the foundation of your life. Now, obviously, me being a follower of Jesus, I want that to be Jesus. Like when life just comes and just knocks them chompers out was what it feels like, man, I want to turn my heart to God in that. Like that's the response that I want to have. I wanna have the instinctive response. Like, Lord, I am turning to you. I know this is tough. This isn't what I want, but I am turning to you in it. So notice, again, when life happens and life is always life and notice where you turn and then let that be a moment that just draws you closer to Jesus. Maybe you don't turn where you want to. Maybe you're like, man, you know what? I didn't turn to God, I turned to this or I turned to my emotions or I turned to a substance or I turned to people and it can be a million different things. Just notice when these difficult seasons happen where you're turning to because I think that's just an indicator where your faith is. And again, not to throw stones, not to be like, I have better faith. No, no, we're gonna be like, you know what? I want to turn to Christ in these moments.

I want to rely on Christ in these moments. I found myself saying today over and over, God, just give me the grace. I'm not looking forward to these conversations. I'm nervous about these conversations. Like it's got, I don't know when you guys get nervous and it feels like you have got some, just some eagles flying around in them guts, right? Like, so it's not even like butterflies. I mean, you got some full blown American bald eagles just doing circles in your stomach. And I'm like, Lord, just please, I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm like, Lord, please just give me the grace. Like, I'm just trusting you to give me the grace for this. You're gonna give me the peace for this. You're gonna give me the strength for this, right? So anyhow, I'm not trying to preach to you. I think I'm more preaching to myself. Oh, what I was saying was in the moment of all that, this gentleman, he was, he saw me in one of the county detention centers. He watched one of the... Watch the show and he sent This this to me of this opener, right? So we've been putting a little opener in here Nothing, nothing too crazy or whatever, but he sent this to me and the words Literally, man. I thought it's awesome. So I want to share with you guys. Storms are inevitable but collapse does not have to be And in between these two things in Luke chapter 6 We actually get this incredibly confrontational statement from Jesus But then we also get this The only way I know how to say this It's like this And it's kind of minimizing It's like key to life that you get as well In Luke chapter 6 verse 46 They're going to have it on the screen It says this So why do you keep calling me Lord, Lord When you don't do what I say Jesus is saying here Listen, don't call me your king Don't call me in charge If you're not going to do what I say And then verse 47 He says I will show you What it's like When someone comes to me Notice these three things Listens to my teaching And then follows it If this is not highlighted in your Bible I'm borderline begging you To highlight this in your scripture today I will show you what it's like When someone comes to me Listens to my teaching

And then follows it And as we went to this verse a couple weeks ago I told you I was at work And I was just kind of just doing my thing And I started thinking Well what did Jesus tell us to do If it is this important And he's like listen Don't call me Lord and don't do what I say I started thinking Well what did he say I mean right Sometimes he's giving us this And it's like oh what did he say Well we went to Matthew 22 Where Jesus replied You must love the Lord your God with all your heart All your soul and all of your mind This is the first and greatest commandment And the second Is equally important Love your neighbor as yourself It's like this Imagine you're sitting with Jesus And Jesus looks you dead in the eye And he says listen I'm going to tell you the most important thing You need to know in life I think we would pay attention And he says listen

Here's what I want you to do Love your Lord our God With all your heart, mind, soul And strength And if I'm there I'm leaning in I'm like ok But now listen There's a second thing And you're like ok There's a second thing And it's just as important Ok this is confusing And he goes to love your neighbor as yourself. Now here's the thing, they're equally important, but there is an order. You have to love God first. You cannot love people correctly and to the level that God calls us to love people if you do not love him first. It's just as important, but there is an order. Because if you get that out of order, what will happen is you can do all of the right things, but not have a relationship with him. That's why one of the scariest verses in all the Bible is in Matthew chapter 7 when he says many on that day, meaning the day of judgment, will come to me and say, Lord didn't we prophesy in your name and cast out demons in your name and heal the sick in your name and go to champion in your name. No, I'm just kidding. Hopefully that's not it. Make sure you're awake. And Jesus would say this to them, depart from me, I never knew you. The word no there's an intimate term. Because you could do all the right things, but if you don't know him, it's all still wrong. And it starts with just loving God. Well that's kind of 30,000 foot, so we got a little bit granular on this and here's what loving God looks like. We put it in four ways. Number one, abide in him. And we've talked about this extensively the last few weeks. We're not going to go back into that. To abide in him. Then we said don't live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, that God's word should be

feeding our souls. And then we said to seek the kingdom. That's somebody who seeks the kingdom. It looks like Matthew chapter 6. And then we said to make a public decoration of faith. And if you have not been baptized, next week we're gonna baptize right at the end of this time. Next week we'll be going out there to baptize people. If you've never been baptized and you know you're like, hey I need to do that, do that. There's sign up sheets in the back. You can fill out a connect card, whatever it might be, to be baptized next week. That's how we love God. But here's the thing, we also have to love people. And we define that. And it was this, can I get close enough to God to the extent that I am a person of salt, light, and good fruit. Sometimes we see loving people as just not slapping them when they deserve it. Come on, it's okay to say yes. Okay, I knew, I knew Jason. He was just trying to hold back and love people. Sometimes we see loving people is just the opposite of hating people. And yes, that is true without a doubt. But I think it's more than that. I think it's being a person of salt. It's being a person of light. It's being a person that has good fruit. That when you walk in the room, it's not, oh God they're here. It's like, thank God that they are here. That people know you by your faith. And we said this, when we do this, when we love God, we'll begin to, the Holy Spirit will begin to produce these things in us to love people. Look at Galatians chapter 5. But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives. We don't produce it. Who produces it? The Holy Spirit. And it is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There's no law against these things. Those who belong to Christ Jesus, verse, what is this, 24 now, have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to His cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us, this version says, keep in step with the Spirit. The NLT says it this way, let us follow the Spirit's leading in every part of our lives. Here's what we said last week. Here's how it happens. Remember verse 47 of Luke chapter 6? Come to me, listen to my teachings, and follow my ways. Y'all remember that, Luke 6 47? Here's what it looks like with Galatians 5. When we turn our heart towards Jesus, we give our life

to Jesus. Now we're gonna get to know Him through His words. We get to know Him through Scripture. We cannot say we know Jesus without knowing our Bible. Thank you, Courtney, it's just you and I. Come on, that was it. Guys, I softballed that one to be like, yeah, absolutely, I read all the time. Who doesn't? That was a good one just to be more holy than everybody on your entire row, maybe the section. So let's try it again. You cannot be following Jesus as a disciple of Jesus and not know His word. Amen. And just go and look at somebody down the road like, duh. Just go and let them know. Probably not your spouse. Not that I'm giving spouse stuff. We got in a fight right before we came out here. I'm just kidding. She won, 100%. You ain't kidding, brother. And here's the thing. So we come to Jesus, we get to know Him, but here's Remember what Jesus says, don't call me Lord, but don't do what I say? That tells us there's a danger of doing two out of three. Two out of three would get you paid millions of dollars in baseball, but it's not enough for Jesus. Come to me, give your heart to me, get to know me through my word. But then watch this. Look at verse 24 again of Galatians 5. Those who belong to Jesus, if you go to the fruit of the spirit, he's like, this is what is producing in you. As you come to him, you get to know him. This fruit is being produced in you. But then you have a decision to make. It's a fork in the road. Because as he begins to lead you, you get to decide my way or his way. You have to decide my flesh or his spirit. That's why Jesus said, listen, don't call me Lord and don't do what I say. Because you can come to him, get to know him and still follow your flesh. I love that Galatians 5 gives us all the fruit of the spirit. And the next thing that is said is crucify your flesh.

And then what's after that? Be led by the spirit of God, which tells us he is going to produce all of this in you. The question is at the fork in the road, is it about me or is it about him? Is it my way or his way? I'm going to say this strongly because I believe it. You can't love God and love people and still love yourself in a selfish way. Let me say it like that. You can't love God, love people and still be selfish. Literally, you have to love God, love people and war against your flesh every single day. And I don't know about you. I'm just talking about me. Sometimes I like to think I'm a better person than I actually am. Is anybody else like you are the best person you know? Come on now. Talk to me in here. Like you're the best person I know. Nobody is as nice as I am. Nobody is as generous. I mean maybe Mother Teresa, but outside of that, I don't even know if she's still alive or not. So it's like just for me, I'm the best person I know. I win every argument in my head. Has anybody lost an argument in your head? Never. I don't even lose fights in dreams. Like it's this thing where we think we're better than we are. And I'm not saying this where you go home and beat yourself up. This is what Jesus said. Listen, you have literally got to deny your selfish nature every single day. You have to war against your flesh.

What did he say to do? He said, love God, love people and you have to deny your flesh. Luke chapter 9 makes this incredibly clear. Jesus said to them all, whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves, take up their cross daily and follow me. This must be crucified daily. If we're going to do what he says, he said to love God, love people, war against your flesh. And there's a fourth one. And he said, care about the least of these. Now least of these does not mean less in value or worth. The least of these are just as loved and are children of God just as all of us are. The least of these have the same spirit of God if they have accepted Jesus as you and I have. Least of these does not mean somebody is less than me and I look down on them and I just have pity on them. Least of these mean people who are going through rough seasons and are down and out. We say it like this around here. Least of these are people who are going through a stormy season and we want to do everything we can to help them champion that season of their life. Matthew chapter 25, if you haven't found it, you have permission to quit looking. But when the son of man comes in his glory, this is Jesus talking, and the angels are with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne and all the nations will be gathered in his presence. He will separate the people as a shepherd separates sheep from goats. Now remember, we're not going there today, but John chapter 10 would tell us that Jesus is the good shepherd. Let me give you just a few things I wrote down. Hold your thumb right there because I'm coming right back to it. Sheep and goats here, it is imagery and symbolism that matters.

From a distance, sheep and goats, they look similar, but eventually it becomes pretty obvious which one is which. And throughout scripture, sheep consistently represent people who follow, trust, and know the voice of God. John 10, 10, Jesus would say, my sheep know my voice. Sheep are dependent. Sheep need guidance. They stay close to the shepherd. And this is 1,000%, and that's all the percents, discipleship imagery here. Discipleship to Jesus is not built on self-sufficiency, it is completely built on surrender to Jesus. Now, in case you haven't been to Michael and Dee's farm or watched Old MacDonald had a farm. Sing it, Michael. Say, I knew you would, I knew you would. He couldn't help himself. When I saw that big smile, I was like, he's about to do it. Sheep are very dependent. They need the shepherd. They're gonna do what the shepherd does. But goats, on the other hand, they're viewed as independent, resistant, difficult to lead, and hard-headed. This symbolism points towards someone who wants the benefits of God without the lordship of God. They call him Lord, but don't do what he says. Sheep and goats. And I want you to take note on this. And I love how many of you take notes. And if you're taking notes, write this down about Matthew 25. The separation by the shepherd of the sheep and goats happens before any of the works are brought up. The works are not creating identity. The works are actually revealing identity. And here's what I mean by works. Are you ready? Let's go back to the scripture. He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left hand. The great shepherd has separated them. This is at the end. This is the judgment, the end of time, okay? Then the king will say to those on the right, come, you are blessed by my father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you before the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you fed me. Notice he's already separated them. I was hungry and you fed me. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger and you invited me into your home. I was naked and you gave me clothing. I was sick and you

cared for me. I was in prison and you visited me. The righteous ones will reply. The sheep replied. Notice who is shocked here. It's not the goats. They are too in a minute. The sheep are just as shocked. Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? A stranger show you hospitality naked and give you clothing. When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you? And the king will say, I'm gonna tell you the truth. When you did it to one of the least of these, my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me. Then the king will turn to those on the left. Away with you, you cursed ones. Enter the eternal fire prepared for his devil and demons. Happy four-year anniversary. For I was hungry and you didn't feed me. Notice they saw the same things the sheep did, but they reacted differently. I was thirsty and you didn't give me a drink. I was a stranger and you didn't invite me into your home. I was naked and you didn't give me clothing. I was sick and in prison and you did not visit me. Then they will reply, Lord, when? When did we ever see you hungry or thirsty, stranger, naked, sick, or in prison and not help you? And he'll answer you, I tell you the truth. When you refused to help the least of these, my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me. Both the goats and the sheep both had the exact same opportunity. The goats overlooked what the sheep did not. Tie it back to Luke chapter 6 verse 47. Jesus says, listen, come to me, get to know me, and do what I say. Goats and sheep look the same until you're close enough to see the difference. They came to him, they got to know him, but when it was time to do what he said, they overlooked them. And it's the severity of this moment. One of the great, and I've misunderstood this verse before, so I'm not throwing stones. One of the greatest things you can do is misunderstand this verse. This is not things to do to get to heaven. He did not say, if you want to go to heaven, do these things. That's not what he said. Remember, he separated them before he ever talked about the works. So this wasn't something that he told them, like, listen, you need to do this to get to heaven. It is showing who their shepherd was, the king or themselves. And if we're gonna follow Jesus and be disciples of Jesus, for the next couple

weeks, after this week, we're gonna do this little, I don't know how long it's gonna go, and champion, we could do a series for three weeks or 30. Some of y'all remember when we went through the Sermon on the Mount? That took us almost all four years, is what it at least felt like. When we did 41, it took us 12 weeks to get through one sermon. So I don't know how long it's gonna go, but this series of talks we're about to do coming up is disciples do this. This is what disciples do. This is who they are, is following Jesus. And this moment in Matthew chapter 25, it makes us think not, well I need to make sure I'm caring for those in prison. I need to make sure I'm caring for the sick. I need to make sure I'm taking care of the homeless. It is not that. The story in Matthew 25 is who's your shepherd? Who's your shepherd? When you come to Him and get to know Him, are you letting Him lead your life? It's the same thing that, listen, I'm not throwing stones around. I ask myself this all the time. Am I overlooking the very people He's putting in my path? Because I'm so focused on myself. Maybe it's better said like this. When we give our life to Christ, and we get to know Him, what begins to happen is you start to see things how He sees things. I've said it like this for a long time. Your heart begins to break for what breaks His heart.

One of the greatest indicators of what your purpose is on the earth today, pay attention to what breaks your heart. Because that's probably a really good indicator. God wants you to be salt, light, and good fruit in that area. As you get closer to Him, you start to see how He sees. Maybe it would have never crossed your mind to feed someone who was hungry. But then as you've turned your heart to Him, you've gotten to know Him, you have that fork in the road moment, and you see somebody who is hungry. Maybe before you would have never thought anything about it, but for whatever reason, this time you think, maybe I could help this need. Maybe I could serve this person. It's like when you get glasses to the right prescription of exactly what you need. This is about the only thing that works on me that's fine is my eyes. I can see great. My hairline, whole different deal. But whatever. I would have taken being blind for better hair, but that's neither here nor there. What are we talking about? Welcome to Champion. We were at the Judgment Day, and now we're talking about my hairline. Here's the point that I'm trying to make.

What I understand is, when you have blurry eyes or whatever, okay? And then you get the right prescription. Here's what I've heard people see. I didn't realize how blind I was. I never forget when Felicia said that she got new glasses. I was like, I ride with you often. Like, what do you mean you didn't realize how blind you were? Now when we get in the car, I'm like, you got your glasses? It's the difference. It goes from blurry to now you can see clearly. I think it's the same thing. When you give your life to Him, you get to know Him. You start to see these forks in the road different. And you may have never seen that hungry person before, but this time it's crystal clear. God has put you in their path to make a difference in their life. And here's the thing. You might know their name, but really you're serving Jesus. You may have never noticed a stranger. You may have never noticed that person at work that is separated and isolated from somebody else. But if you've given your life to Him, and you're getting to know Jesus through His Word, now all of a sudden that fork in the road becomes a little bit more clear. Am I going to notice the person everyone else overlooks, or am I just going to stay to what I need to get done? Maybe you've never noticed a person who needs clothes. In our day and time, it's hard to even fathom that. And so she's not here today.

I remember Marianne, when I taught on this back in January, she comes to us and she's like, hey listen, I have this heart just to help people who are in a professional atmosphere just have better clothes. And she's like, yeah, I think that's crazy. I remember when we wrote down the God dreams. She's like, that's my God dream. Is that crazy? I said, no, you're doing Matthew 25. Do you see someone who needs something? You may have not seen it clear then, but as you've come to Him, got to know Him, now you see that fork in the road differently. Of what can I do for this person? Maybe you would have never thought about praying for someone who was sick. You would have just said things like this. Thoughts and prayers. I don't have time to be rude. Y'all were saying way too many nice things for me to mess that up. You may have thought, I never would have said a prayer for that person. But all of a sudden I heard about how this person was sick and something inside of me said, stop in the moment and just pray for them. What are you doing? You're not praying for them. You're literally serving Jesus in that moment. You would have never thought twice about anyone in the Department of Corrections. until you got to know Him, or you came to Him, got to know Him, and then all of a sudden an opportunity presents itself. And you know we passed over 10,000 salvations last week in six months. First-time salvations. Listen, that was never on our radar. You would have maybe never saw a homeless person, and we're going to show you what we do every single week when they leave here, and they go serve the homeless. I said, how long does it normally take you on a

Sunday? She said, well two to four hours. A Sunday? Yeah. Why? Because they came to Him, got to know Him, and they had a fork in the road moment this beginning of this year. What am I going to do? Am I going to continue to overlook the very people that God has put in front of me? Am I going to say yes to Him? I want to show you one other spot in Scripture, because it's not just here in Matthew 25, it's not just in Luke 9 or Luke 6. Go to Ephesians chapter 2 verse 8. Ephesians chapter 2 verse 8. I want to show this to you. God saved you by His grace when you believed, and you cannot take credit for this. It is a gift from God, okay? This is the biggest difference with Jesus compared to other religions. Other religions, we have to do everything we can to get to Jesus. With Jesus, He left heaven to come to us to have us a part of His family. It's a free gift. We just have to receive it. That's the Savior part, but we have to make Him Lord of our life too. But He's like, listen, hey, don't get it twisted about salvation. You can't earn this. I love verse 9. Go ahead and say it. It's like just in case, like Paul's like, in case you aren't clear, salvation is not a reward for the good things we've done, so none of us can boast about it. I feel like, I've said this before, when Paul wrote these letters to the church, I feel like they were reading it to the church at Ephesus, and they were like, all right, Paul says salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. I hope you're paying attention, Julian. You have to think these were written to churches. Like I wonder if like they read it, it's like, so none of us can boast about it. Did you hear that, Mary? Let me read that again. So none of us, you can't just read the Bible, you got to read it. We read that so like, so none of us can boast about it. He was talking about somebody in the Ephesian church. Now it's, we know it's inspired, so it's for us, but he literally was talking about, I wonder if that person's in heaven. They're like, hey man, what's your name? Well, you might have heard about me. Ephesians 2 verse 9. That was me. Got it right. I was the one boasting. Okay, I can't do this with everyone, but it's like, for we're God's masterpiece, don't worry, I know you're jacked up, but you're God's masterpiece, don't worry. Guys, you can't read the Bible, you have to read it. Someone heard that

that day, it was like, whew, thank God because I'm a mess. Somebody heard that that day. Alright, anyhow, okay. Salvation's free, you can't boast about it, for we are God's masterpiece. Now watch this next part. Salvation, that is coming to Him, giving your life to Him. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus. What does Romans chapter 12 verse 2 tell us to do? To renew our mind according to His Word. How do you get to know Him? Through His Word. So he says, listen, salvation's free, go to Jesus, turn your heart to Him. He says, get to know Him that's creating your mind anew in Christ Jesus. Now watch this next part. So we can do the things He planned for us long ago. I've never seen it like this until literally Friday after work. I came home, I was like, Lord, this is how sometimes I pray over my sermons. You ready? This is awful, hell. You would think I would pray that in the beginning, but sometimes it takes a little bit of self-respect. Sometimes I take the wrong fork in the road. And I'm like, Lord, help. I go to Ephesians 2, and I've never seen of it like this, but I'm gonna read to you how I wrote it down. According to this verse, God has good things planned for this church, this body of believers that were planned long ago. The only reason a church does anything is because God is doing it in and through the people that call that church home. So He has had these things that we are able to do. Think about this. This is the mind-blowing part. Planned for all of us and those who will be a part of this family as we continue to go and go. Thank you, Ray, for saying 40 years. Your son said four. I was like, dang, Dylan, you only give me 48 more months? All right, I better get to work. As we continue to grow this family, it's not so we have a cool full church in our own building. Thank God we do, but it's because we're actually going to be doing things that He planned. for us long ago. He had wheelchair ramps, Carla Cordo and Joe, by default. He had wheelchair ramps for us to build and to build that he's had planned since long ago. You thought you were just saying yes in the beginning. I don't know if you can call this, like, hey we've got these steps that we need to fix. I said, Carla, have you ever thought about just leading the team to build wheelchair ramps? She goes, no, I

cut hair. I was like, okay, have you seen YouTube? My God. Go to the Home Depot class at 9 a.m. I mean, put on an orange vest, make it happen. Take the right fork in the road. But what were you saying yes to? You weren't saying yes to a wheelchair ramp or leading a team or getting a trailer full of tools. You were saying yes because there was ramps that were planned for us long ago to do. He has widows and elderly that he's planned for us long ago to help just cut their grass and just show up and say, you're seen. I'm sorry what's happened to you and you're seen. It's not just because we're like, hey, we'd like to cut grass because these aren't nice yards we're showing up to. We're not getting them lines pretty. We're just hoping no one dies. I'm like, Lord, please God, let everyone have signed the release form before we step onto this property. Amen. I'll never forget the first time Danny Day asked me to pray the project. It was that, Lord, I'm not sure if anybody signed a release form. I'm just believing in faith that we will be safe. I was thinking about this. One of the first philanthropy things we ever did was help families at Christmas. And we just thought we were giving away cookies and milk and bringing in Santa for pictures that these kids look awful in. Because they're crying, yeah, they're scared to death. And then there's always that one Christian told you, you should have had Jesus, you know. I'm like, what, am I gonna bring a baby for you to take pictures? Anyhow. We thought, here's the crazy part, we thought we were just dreaming about something sitting at the Brazilian steakhouse the first time y'all met Felicia, and you said we have this idea to help families at Christmas. It wasn't just this thing, it was things that he had planned for us long ago that we've just said yes to. He's had homeless plan for us to reach long ago. We just finally caught up and said yes. We just finally put the glasses on to see clearly at the fork in the road and say yes. He's had inmates that he ordained for a moment for them to find a show that would introduce them to Jesus, many for the very first time. I say it all the time when I look into the camera. It is not by chance you found some random guy in Northeast Florida, probably the smallest church of hundreds that are on this app, and something inside of you said today I'm gonna watch this and I'm

gonna give my life to Christ. This isn't just happening because we said yes and we had videos. That's what we thought it was. This is happening because it was planned for us long ago in this moment to have to decide at the fork in the road am I gonna do my way or his way. Now here's the thing, God doesn't put those people in those positions. He didn't make the person homeless. He didn't make the person sick. He didn't make the person a stranger. He didn't make the person inmate. A lot of times it is our own decisions that get us in a mess. Can anybody else agree to that that you can live that? But here's the thing that God does do. He didn't put them in those positions, but he did put this church in this position to say will there be a group of people that are focused on philanthropy, focused on minimalism. There's nothing wrong with anything else. I'm not throwing stones at any other church, so don't hear what I'm not saying, but he did ordain this house to say could we show up and be a part of helping people champion every season that God has had planned long ago. Yes it is year four, but this has been planned a long time ago, and as I unashamedly say Ephesians 4.16. Listen if you have a heart for this, get on the boat with us in row. We need you. Put Ephesians 4.16 up there if you will. I've got to hurry. Y'all did a tribute video longer than my funeral probably will be. Every time I was like this is it. First of all Jeremiah in that video looking like Jordan Belfort from Wolf of Wall Street. Hey what's up guys? I'm here to show you some boats. That's what I thought he was about to do. I literally was in tears. He's down in the keys. They're part of the Immaculate, part of this family. Here's the point. This is why I unashamedly say, if you have a heart for this stuff, get on the boat and row with us. Pick up an oar and row with us. We need something you have. Now listen, somebody might say, this is not my thing. And I promise you, that's okay. That's fine. I'll help you find a good church. You saw my cousin on there with like, it looked like a deer farm behind him. I mean, I'm like, good Lord. Buddy, I'm about to turn you into PETA and I love you. They have a great church about two miles away from here. You're not gonna want to visit it, but if you need to, I'll help you. There's all these great churches. Here's

the thing, just find somewhere that you can get on that boat and row because we need you. And here's why. He makes the whole body, talking about the body of Christ, fit together perfectly as each part does its own special work. It helps the other parts grow so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. Here's the truth of the matter. If your heart breaks for this stuff to help people champion every season, we literally need you to be healthy and growing and full of love. I don't need you for a warm body to stack chairs that we don't have to do today. That's why I'm preaching my little heart out because I know we don't have to stack chairs and there's cupcakes and caffeine back there. I unashamedly ask you to give. Number one, we don't even have any staff members yet. We will. We will, but I don't ask you to give so we can make things happen in all of this and pay the bills and continue to do philanthropy. I ask you to give because if you call this place home, we need you to be healthy and growing. Whether you say yes or not at that fork in the road literally determines the level of other people's love according to that verse. Put it back up there Ms. Angie if you will. So that the whole body is healthy and growing full of love which means if it's not, then we're missing a piece and there's things that he planned for us to do a long ago. I'm gonna say this last part. If you are a team member or a team lead, I want to specifically talk to you for just a moment. I want to show you something. I did not see this the other day and I literally knew we were gonna get here. I didn't realize it'd be at 1131 Eastern Standard Time. Watch this. Mark 6. Will you put it up there? Mark 6. He, this is Jesus, saw the disciples straining at the oars because the wind was against him. If you've talked to me at all recently and that's part of the teams, I've said listen our teams are tired because we're grinding, we're grinding, we're grinding, we're showing up at 7 a.m., we're not leaving till noon. Listen to me. If you are on a team here or a team lead, I know how hard it is and when I saw this verse, I've seen this verse a thousand times I feel like it stood out to me. Number one because I couldn't believe it had oars in there. He saw the disciples straining at the oars because

the wind was against them. It tells us when we do what Jesus says, because Jesus told them to get on the boat and go, it's not gonna be easy. And I just want to say listen, I see you. I know you're tired. I know you're straining. I know every time you bring up the building we're like, hey he's got pushed back a little bit more. You're like, okay. I know you see the gaps and the holes that we have as a church. We are not saying that this boat is perfect and amazing and wonderful. I see the way you're straining week after week after week and hoping to God more people than just you show up. But notice what happens next shortly before dawn, meaning this, it was pretty dark. He being Jesus went to them walking on the lake and he was about to pass by, but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost because sometimes when you're straining, you don't see Jesus right. And they cried out because they all saw him and were terrified. Immediately he spoke to them and says, take courage. It is I. Don't be afraid. I just feel like that is a word for our team members here. I know we're straining. I know the wind is beating against this boat and we are just doing everything we can to stay afloat and we're looking for the dawn of what is next for our church. But don't miss that Jesus is still in this, even when we're still in this cafeteria, even when they have more products out there than Home Depot that we can't park anywhere, even when it seems like the building is consistently being pushed back and there's friction points and there's holes and it's frustrating, keep rowing. Don't abandon the ship here. Now listen, if you feel like God's calling you somewhere else, please, please don't be like, well, no, no, no. If you feel like God's calling you, that's completely okay. But if you're tired, if it's beating you to death, He's still in it. He's still in it. Galatians 6, let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest, if we don't give up. Therefore, and we're gonna switch to giving because we're done. As we have the opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. That's what we're doing. That's what we're celebrating on four years as a church. If you're like, man, I don't know if I'm in or out, and this breaks your

heart, get on the boat with us. We need you. Let's row, man. Let's row. I'm not promising it's even gonna be fun. It'll be a little fun, but it's gonna be worth it. It's gonna be worth it. And when you start building, it's like, geez, you gotta get all these parts, and then a lot of people helped me. You guys helped me. Just getting things going. Summit, JEGS. Started, it was running in four-cylinder mode in July, and it was September now, and I had it done two days ago. And it was running two days ago. Today, finally got all the bugs mostly out of it, and some little things done, but it's running now. Two years in my head, and then less than three months to make it. LS Fest, that's a ten-year anniversary. That was my goal. Something stuck out, something, my goal was, I like, I wonder if I can get out on a t-shirt. Ah, there's so many people. I was 60 miles out, my trailer broke its axle, and we had to drive it here. Stopped at a gas station, some guy pulls up, kid, a younger guy, and his girlfriend or whatever, and he's like, yeah, that's it. And then he gets out of his car, he's like, shook my, come up, shook my hand, I was like, that's the LS postal truck, I seen it on Facebook and everywhere. I'm like, oh, okay. It blew up like I didn't think it was gonna do, and I've gone postal. All my life, I've been working on cars with my uncles, and since I was probably 14, 13 years old, working on semis, and I started working on my own stuff. I got a 32 by 40 shop, and got a Holley mid-rise intake, I got your Holley 42 CC injectors. I'd like to

have a lot more, just not right now, I just don't have the funds right now, but I got a lot of other stuff on there as well. Couldn't find nothing for cold air induction, so I took an SS 2012 cold air induction kit, cut it up, and put it on there. I had to do the modify the steering on it, it's running a 6L90 transmission, LY6, 6 liter in it, custom driveshaft, it's got an 8.8 Explorer in, 9 cut, 4-wheel disc brake, you get a lot of the GM parts you see on there, they all came from local dealership Sowers, I buy my stuff from, and they hooked me up over there. It's always nice to know on the local GM dealership they can help you out. Yes, and a lot of people, O'Reilly's, AutoZone, intake and fuel rails, I got that from AutoZone. It's like, wow, they told me that, I was like, all right. So we heard you're gonna enter the burnout contest. I'm gonna say I'm gonna try, but yes I am. You know what has gluten in it? Everything! I said, check again, maybe it's just cancer. I didn't take it well. Have you tried gluten-free stuff? It needs gluten. Then I tried some gluten-free bread. This is a very difficult thing to do because it hurts. I'm gonna go forward, I'm not gonna quit, so I'm gonna go forward. Bring it on. When you talk to people that went to SEAL training that didn't make it, most of the time it's some reason. There's a medical reason, there's a family problem. There's very few people that look at you and say, oh, I quit because it sucked. Which is what happens to the vast majority of people. The vast majority of people that don't make it through SEAL training, they didn't make it through because they quit. They didn't make it through because they quit. Your excuses will destroy you and take everything that you ever wanted from you if you let them. When your excuses make you feel a little bit better about the fact that you didn't execute on what you needed to execute on, then they can make you feel better. But they're not helping you. They're not helping you at all. This went wrong. This failed. Didn't accomplish this. And it's not the fault of my boss.

It's not the fault of my girlfriend. It's not the fault of my parents. It's not the fault of the weather. It's my fault. And I'm gonna take ownership of it and I'm gonna fix it. That's what extreme ownership is. Because when you look around at your life and you look around at your job and your financial situation and your relationship and your physical health, and when you look at all those things and all the problems that you may have with those things and you say, the reason I have all those problems is because of me, that can hurt. That can sting. And a lot of times, our ego rejects that and makes excuses and lies. And then we don't have to change anything. And then nothing changes. When the excuses all go away and people can actually confront the fact that this is all because of me, it hurts. But it's also unbelievably empowering.

Because the more discipline you have in your life, the more freedom you will end up with. So if you lack the discipline to exercise and eat healthy, you will end up being a slave to disease. If you lack the discipline to work hard, save your money, you will end up a slave to finances. If you lack the discipline to manage your time correctly, you will end up with no free time. If you have self-discipline, if you have the discipline to save your money and work hard and invest your money properly, if you have the discipline to manage your time correctly and not waste a bunch of time, if you have the discipline to exercise and eat healthy, you will end up with freedom. And you're gonna start to progress in every aspect of your life. And you'll see that if you have that kind of discipline right now, you're gonna end up with freedom. You have discipline, you will attain freedom. Go try and accomplish something that's hard. You may win, you may lose, you may succeed, you may fail. I'll tell you what, you'll be better.

And if you don't have that kind of discipline, and you don't work hard, and you don't exercise, and you don't apply yourself, you're gonna end up shackled. So if you're in the woods and you don't know where to go, start walking. You gotta start walking because the perspective's not gonna change. You have to start moving forward. But standing there lost and not doing anything is just waiting to die, waiting to starve to death. Don't let that happen. I think it's really important because as men, we don't, we get conflicting messages about emotion and how to express it and what that looks like. And there's a lot of men struggling right now. Every human faces challenges, and you don't know what they've been through. Suppressing them isn't gonna help, and nor is letting them run your life. Because you're sad, now you're gonna make a bunch of bad decisions because you're sad. No, no, it doesn't work like that. It doesn't work like that. You're sad, okay. You get emotional sometimes, okay. Got it. Now get control of your emotions and carry on with your life. And sometimes you're gonna get hit with those waves.

And that's okay. Oh, I'm having an emotional moment right now? There's something wrong with me. No, there's nothing wrong with you. There's nothing wrong with you. The other extreme is, oh, I'm letting my emotions run my life and I'm making a bunch of bad decisions. And my excuse is, well, you know, I lost some friends or I had this traumatic experience happen to me. That's why I'm doing, that's just an excuse. And it's a very easy excuse. Guess what? It's time to carry on. Remember, don't dwell. I'm in control. This is my life. If you are in the problem, you won't see the solution to the problem. Take a step back, detach from the chaos, detach from the mayhem, detach from your emotions, detach from your ego, and be able to assess the best way to execute that is the job of a leader. If you take any trait of a human being and you take it to an extreme, masculine or feminine or otherwise, you take it to an extreme, it's going to be a problem. Is it good to have no emotions whatsoever? No, that's called a sociopath.

Is it good to let your emotions run your life and make your decisions based on your emotions? No, that's not good either. What do we wanna be as a human, as a man? We wanna be balanced. It's much easier to be extreme. It's much easier to say, oh, no emotions, cool, and turn them off. That's easier. Or a total emotion, that's easier. It's harder to find balance. It's harder to find balance in business. It's harder to find balance in life. It's hard to find balance, but you have to be balanced because what I want is for the team to win. So be balanced.
