Depleted, Buc-ee's & Bass Pro Shops
After big moments, after pressure, after tension, something often settles in that no one really talks about. You are not angry. You are not losing faith. You are just empty. In this message, we look at Elijah in 1 Kings 18 and 19 and explore what happens when life keeps stirring the same places over and over until you finally feel depleted. Sentencing stress, pod tension, lockdowns, relationship drama, unmet expectations, and the quiet question that creeps in… what’s the point?
This sermon is about emotions being real and allowed, but dangerous when they start governing our decisions. Using God’s gentle, practical response to Elijah, we learn how the Lord meets us in exhaustion, restores perspective, and gives us a next step even when feelings haven’t caught up yet. Along the way, we even take a field trip to Buc-ee’s and Bass Pro Shops to talk about stirring, temptation, and why not everything that looks good is actually helpful.
If you’ve ever felt worn down, emotionally flat, or quietly defeated after pressure piled up, this message is for you. God is not mad at you. He is patient with your humanity, and He still has purpose ahead.
New Year, new me. New year, new me. And I wanted to share that video with you because it got me the other day, kind of made me jump. New year, new me. I'm going to be calm this year, guys, girls, ladies, gents. On the Pando app, I'm calming it down. New year, new. Psych suckers, are you kidding? Woo! Ha ha! Welcome to Champion Church on the Pando app. Oh my goodness. Get that out of here. So glad to have you guys with us, man. We are going on the road today. I'm talking about one of the worst days I've had all year. It's only been seven days, but whatever. We're going to get to that. We're going to go on a little field trip, going to Bucky's. We're going to Bass Pro Shops as well. My name is Trevor. I'm so glad you're watching wherever. That was a cool video. It got me the other day, made me jump. New year, same me, mother truckers. That's with a T. It's with a T. What's going on, everybody? I am hanging out with some of my favorite people in the world right now. Yes, you on the other side of this. Number one, I'm going to say thank you to those who have written me.
If you write me, I personally read every single one, respond to them. I'm a few days behind, so just give me a little bit of grace. Also, it takes about, legitimately, I'm amazed at how long it takes when y'all write it to I actually get it in our PO box or PM box, whatever, but thank you for all of you that have written. If you're a new subscriber, welcome to the Champion family. Truly, we love to have fun. We love to joke around. We love to put random things in videos to make you go just like that. Okay, so anyhow, just I love what we're doing here. If you haven't checked out all of our videos, I don't know. We have seven, eight of them up now for sure, and yeah, just honored to be with you wherever you are today. We are talking about depletion. Again, we're going on some field trips as well. We're going to taste some food because y'all said, hey, we want to get out and about. I've got some metaglasses that I just got. We're going to try them out. See what it's like. We're going to taste test. Did I mess my desk up? I don't think I did. We're going to taste test some quail eggs today. And then I'm going to taste some deer sausage as well on there. You guys want to see all that. That's going to be at the end of the show. And of course, of course, we got the shout outs. If you want to shout out, you got to write me. And then here's my biggest thing when you're writing, man, if you have a question about faith, if you have something you want to step with Jesus in a deeper way, that's what it's
all about. We have a ton of fun. We dance around. We play AI music. All that kind of stuff. But at the end of the day, man, it's about growing deeper with Jesus, growing in that union with Jesus and why we're called Champion Church to champion every season of your life. Even right now, it's so easy to, to, to glorify the past, right? The good old days, maybe the days before you were, you were behind the fence and maybe fantasize about one day of you getting out or maybe even you being on the other side of eternity. But what about right now? God cares about right now in your life. And I believe you found this video maybe for a reason. Maybe you click because you're like, Oh, I remember Bucky's. Maybe you've never heard of Bucky's. It is essentially like a Walmart with a, with like, I don't know, a hundred and something gas pumps. Maybe you're like, Hey, I want to just see best pro or I've heard about this dude who's a little wild and crazy and all of that kind of stuff. Or maybe you've been one of our subscribers since the very beginning, just a few months ago. Man, I'm just so glad to have you guys with us. And I just want to help you champion this season, whatever season you're in. I want you to grow in a deeper union with Jesus and champion this season of your life because God cares even about this one. Okay. Don't just fan or glorify the past or fantasize about the future. Lord, what can you speak to me right here in this day and time? That's what we are all about.
Now we're going to go walking through, try some different stuff. You'll see. I try some different sodas in this, that kind of deal. Um, yeah, it's a little bit different if you've never been to a Bucky's. I never went to one to one was built in our city. We're in St. Augustine, Florida, uh, between essentially Jacksonville and Palm coast or Jacksonville, Daytona. Maybe it's a little bit more of a kind of known where it's at and we're in Northeast Florida and they put one, uh, right there on one of our exits in St. Augustine. And it's unique, man. It's really, really, really unique. The jerky that's there, all of that kind of stuff is pretty wild. So let's go check that out. Some folks just refuse to learn from their mistakes. Turn wrong into something right Mercy falling, mercy rise Boys in the hood, with hope in their eyes Boys in the hood, Lord, hear their cry They ain't angels, but they try Hallelujah, still alive Boys in the hood, they testify Carrying crosses with no name Alright, here we go, let's try this stuff Let's try it New Metaglasses Alright, here we go It's alright Honestly, it just tastes like sausage I feel about 17 pieces in my friggin' teeth though Let's try this disgusting thing right here
I know I'm not gonna like this I don't even know what that... Tastes like a mixture of just bad decisions That's what that tastes like Alright, let's get to why we are here I love everything about the show I truly do, but this right here Man, this is the meat of it This is where I think it's gonna help you grow in your union with Jesus And if you have never met Jesus If you have never given your life to Him I would hope maybe by the end of this episode Maybe that's something if you've never done it That you do And if you have And you feel depleted Depleted If you feel depleted, defeated However you want to put it If you feel empty If you feel like you've been getting your tail whooped all the time Just by life, lifin' Man, this is for you right here This is the meat of what I want to bring to you today I had something completely different I thought the Lord was leading me to do I thought we were gonna do part two of Unfair I really did And then I was like, alright, well maybe I'm supposed to do the rest of the practical points on how to win That I never got to And then the last couple days
I'm just gonna level with you I'm just gonna be completely honest with you And I'm just gonna say it I don't know a better way to say it The last couple days have been incredibly sh**y And overwhelming for me 1000% it has Now, we all feel that, right? And if you've been tracking with the show You know I've talked about on here that I've battled chronic depression Pretty much as long as I can remember And I do believe this Jesus is a healer And there will be a day I walk in complete freedom from that Without a doubt But in those days where everything feels overwhelming I had my first panic attack in a long time And probably when I say a long time Probably like 4 or 5 weeks And for me, it just was eating me alive, right? And everything inside of me Just wanted to go away from everyone Just put my head under covers Or I'm just using that figuratively And just shrink back That's what I felt like And as I'm in this moment Battling all this kind of stuff I felt like the Lord brought back up
1 Kings chapter 18 And 1 Kings chapter 19 Now, if you have a Bible If not, I encourage you to go to it When you're done watching this on the Pando app Right down there at the bottom There's a little Bible button or whatever Click that 1 Kings 18 and 19 with Elijah What is happening here Is Elijah is carrying a lot of weight He is carrying a lot of pressure And things are stirred up massively And what happens is When things get stirred up On the back end of that It begins to reveal things That might still have roots inside of you And even in the last couple of days That's been, for me That's what's been happening It's been nothing necessarily bad It's just life It's just pressure It's just going through things And they just kept pushing And pushing And heavier And heavier to this moment Where I was like
God, I'm just not feeling this I'm just not feeling it Like I didn't Like, please hear my heart Like I didn't want worship music at the time, I didn't want the Bible at the time, I didn't want prayer at the time, but at the same time, it's all I knew was to go to God. Now, I don't know if you can relate to that, but that's exactly where I was, and God brings up 1 Kings 18 and 19, knowing I have walked through that scripture, this whole story, really 1 Kings 17, 18, and 19 would be a great place for you to read. I just love the whole story of Elijah through that, and God just brings this up, and in the moment I was like, I'm feeling depleted, and I went back to it, and when I went back to it, man, it stirred something up, and I felt like, even this morning when I got up, I felt better, and I was praying, like, Lord, do you want me to go teach that? And literally, he just stirs it, stirs it, stirs it, too. I grabbed my yellow pad out of my bag, wrote all these notes down, got off for lunch, came in here, and I want to give this to you today. Truly, if you feel depleted, if you feel like, man, I'm just not feeling it, I'm just kind of over it, I'm over carrying the pressure. I wrote these things down.
When things get stirred up, it reveals what is in all of us. When things get stirred up, it reveals what is in all of us. Now, I want you to understand what Elijah is going through, 1 Kings 17, 18, 19, okay? Again, please, please, please go read it for yourself this week, and go see the story. Maybe you need to go do that, and then, sorry, and then come back to this so you understand, but here's what you're gonna see. Elijah is going to get his life threatened, all right? So Jezebel is like, I'm going to kill you, is what he is saying. So that's some pressure there, but before that, he's carrying, I wrote it down like this, he's carrying national pressure. He is standing alone for a long time. He's dealing with conflict. He is essentially living on adrenaline. There is no emotional margin in his life. He just had to be on guard all the time, and I don't know if you can relate to that, sitting right there behind bars where you're at. Maybe you feel like, you know what? Yeah, my life has been threatened. I know the pressure of that. Maybe you feel like you are carrying this pressure on your shoulders to be on guard all the time. Maybe you feel like, man, I've been alone. I've been standing alone forever, it feels like, and I'm dealing with conflict.
I'm living on adrenaline. I wrote a few things down just from the letters that you guys have wrote me, and again, if you want to write me, I read and respond to every single letter, and I want to make this incredibly clear again. I don't give a flip how big we get on Pando. I'm gonna read every letter. Here's why, because I'm doing this to disciple you guys and engage with y'all, be a part of what we are doing. You are a part of this, and I love, love, love what God is doing through this app with you and I right there, and if you want to write me, please write me, please do it. I'll communicate with you. I read every single one. I respond to every single one because it matters. It matters. God opened this door up, and it matters to hear what you are walking through and to answer your questions. That's my biggest thing. Write some questions. Ask me some things. I want to help you grow in your relationship with Jesus, and through these communications that I've had with you guys, here's what I've learned of that stirring or that pressure that you feel, like when your sentence starts to get closer, and you know you're gonna have to walk back
into that courtroom, and so much is decided in that moment, or maybe you have tension in your pod. Maybe you got moved to a different pod, or someone got moved to your pod, or just the tension begins to boil over, and there's tension in there, and you know what that feels like to have that stirring going on. Maybe the lockdowns are really like this, that mess with your rhythm. You're going, you're trying to get in the rhythm. You're trying to do everything right. The next thing you know, your whole block is on lockdown, and it's messing with your rhythm. Maybe schoolwork. I know several of you are going to school right there in prison, and your schoolwork, it just feels like it's revealing what you don't know. I remember that so, and not even just remember, it's even moments in my own life where I'm trying to learn something or whatever, and it just reveals sometimes I feel like what I don't know, and it's a weird feeling in that of like, maybe I can't do this. Maybe I'm not worth enough to do X, Y, or Z, or maybe you've had arguments with loved ones, or that loved one quit answering, or quit responding. Maybe it's something you're trying to extend that olive branch, if you will, to try to like take steps in the right direction with your family, and all it has done is stirred up emotions,
has stirred up these things that just leave you feeling depleted. Maybe you feel disrespected. I understand how, I can understand. I've never been there, so I don't want to be like, I can understand. You know, like I can see how sometimes you feel disrespected and how important respect is, and especially where you're sitting, maybe you feel powerless. I'll tell you what I feel is this freaking microphone's pissing, upsetting me. I don't understand. Praise God. Sorry, Jesus, I shouldn't have said that. I appreciate what you gave me. Anyhow, maybe you just feel powerless. Right there, you feel like you are absolutely powerless, and you are vulnerable to everything, and that's what I'm talking about. talking about where Elijah felt all that, the pressure, the standing alone, all of these things. And what happens in 1 Kings 18 is oftentimes we see that as this big victory high. And I'm not saying it wasn't, but 1 Kings 19 reveals that Elijah was carrying stuff even in those seasons that nobody else saw. And he runs away when Jezebel says, "'Listen, mother trucker, I'm going,' that's with a T, "'I'm going to kill you.'"
He runs. Because all of us have this moment where enough is enough. Gosh, oh, how I've been there. Oh, how I have. I was there this time yesterday. Just enough's enough, man. I'm over it. I'm not feeling any of this. And he runs. I'm gonna give you four things today. Four things of how God responds in 1 Kings 19 that I think you can carry in your life. The first one is this, or I wrote this down. Elijah said, I have had enough. That is depletion. He doesn't run from God. Here's what I love. He's not running from God. He runs until he can't hold it together anymore. Goodness, that's so good. So then what? Well, number one, here's what happens. God addresses the physical. You're gonna see in that. God addresses the physical. He tells him very practical, physical things to do. Oftentimes we want this massive supernatural thing, and God's like, I'm giving you this physical thing to do. I wrote it down like this. Exhaustion can be plentiful, so ask for wisdom.
Exhaustion can be plentiful in our lives, so ask for wisdom. Lord, what is something physical I can do? He tells Elijah to rest, sleep, and eat twice, okay? So he tells him, rest, sleep, and eat twice. I understand, maybe you're putting the hole or something like that. I don't know, I'm just using, I'm trying to think of different letters I've gotten. Or maybe you're in close management or whatever it might be, or you're in this pod where that's just not a possibility. Here's the thing, here's what I would do if I was in your position. I would ask the Lord, just give me the next right step, and you're gonna hear me say that several times. Just give me the next right step. What is something I can do? What's a little thing I can do? Oftentimes we're like, God, do the supernatural, and he's like, yeah, but I've made you natural, and there's things that you can do. This isn't just, God's not like, hey, this works for everybody but prisoners. That's not true. This works for everybody but inmates. This works for everybody except someone with a DOC number. That's not it. He addresses the physical. If the word of God is true, which I 1,000% believe it is, Jesus can speak to you and give you,
like, Lord, what is the next right physical thing for me to do? And oftentimes it comes as this little idea, like, oh, I should do that. Oh, oh, I should do that. And then walk that out. Here's the second thing. Did you see, I almost scrolled. I'm still using my iPad. Here's the second thing. God asked him in 1 Kings 19, what are you doing here, Elijah? What are you doing here? God asks a question. He's not throwing an accusation. He's just asking a question. He doesn't show up and is like, you idiot. What are you doing here? That's not it. He's a loving heavenly father. He says, hey, what are you doing here? What's he doing? What's he doing? He's inviting Elijah to name what he's feeling. If you don't name what you're feeling, eventually those feelings end up creating who you are, your name and your character. Please don't miss that. If you don't name what you're feeling, those things, those feelings begin to create your name,
meaning who you are and your character. Remember all through the Bible, names reveal character. And if you cannot name, Lord, I am feeling this. I am feeling this. I am feeling X, Y, or Z. Like for me yesterday, I was like, God, I'm feeling depleted. I'm just feeling depleted. I'm just feeling like it was just life moment, work moment. Here's the truth of the matter. I screwed up some stuff at work and lost some very important files of what I was supposed to be having. And I was pretty embarrassed and upset. I hate dropping the ball, hate it. And I just, it was like one thing after another. Oh, I forgot to do that. Oh, I didn't go to that. I don't work at the church. I think if you've tracked with this, most of you know that. A lot of, 90% of what I do is like general maintenance on properties of cutting grass, trimming palm trees, that kind of stuff. But the company, it's actually my family's company that I work for, we're e-commerce. So we sell stuff all over the U.S. and ship it all over the U.S. So sometimes I'll do stuff on the backend, like technology stuff, right? And I lost some massive technology,
something that I had that I just, I lost it. And we ended up forfeiting hours of work because of my fault. And it just, man, it was frustrating. Then I dropped the ball here and I dropped the ball here and I dropped the ball here. And I just finally had to just name it to God. God, I just feel depleted. And I feel like I'm losing trust with people around me because I'm just fumbling things all the time. Now, does that mean that I'm a fumbler and I'm someone who walks around and my character is depletion? No, it's what I was feeling. And I named it in that moment. I hope that's what you're saying. I feel like I'm talking about myself too much, but I hope you can relate to it. I just named it. There's times where I'm like, God, I'm feeling depressed. Lord, that depression, man, it is rearing its ugly head. I feel like I'm in the ring with Tyson. Right now, that's exactly what I feel like sometimes with my depression. I just name it. Sometimes I'm feeling anxious. Like when I was having that, I had that panic attack yesterday and I'm like, like, Lord, I just, I'm so big on naming it because God isn't wanting to accuse you and embarrass you and be like, I knew it. I told you quit doing it. I told you. No, no.
He is a loving heavenly father who is so crazy about you right there, wherever you're at watching this on this tablet. He put me in your life for a reason. I like, I couldn't have dreamed this up. I couldn't have set this up if I wanted to, but he said, Hey, listen, I want, and I'm not saying God put me through that stuff yesterday, but I do believe God will turn. He is really good at turning any situation for his glory. And I feel like he revealed that to me in that moment of feeling depletion. Like, Hey, I want you to go talk to some people because there's some people on the other side of that lens, on the other side of the fence, on the other side of the wall, on the other side of that pod or that block or whatever that are feeling the same thing. And I want you to take him to first Kings 19 and show him how I responded to Elijah, how God responded to me and how he wants to respond to you. Just name what you're feeling, man. He's not afraid of your emotions all through the Psalms. There are that you see emotions. God is not afraid of your honesty or your emotions. What will happen? What he doesn't want you to do now that he's afraid of this, what he doesn't want you to do is hold it because when you withhold it, it begins to become your identity. And what is your identity is what you'll eventually live out. All right. I think I've said enough about that. The Lord said, if it remains unspoken, your emotions become dangerous because you end up being driven by your emotions, right? You end up being driven by these things. I love some, uh, was it Psalm 42, I believe it is where the Psalmist says, listen, my soul was downcast. He says, but yet I will still praise him. I love that.
You know what? Yes, I'm feeling this, but yet I'm still turning to God. I'm not feeling it, but I'm still turning to God in this moment. Here's the next thing. God create or God corrects interpretation, not Elijah's feelings. Again, he corrects interpretation. Elijah says, and you'll see it in first Kings 19. He says, I'm, I'm the only one where God actually says, you know, there's no, no, no, no. There's actually 7,000 more that are just like you. What are you saying is you're just not seeing it clearly, clearly. He doesn't, he does not correct the feelings of like, get it right. He corrects the clarity. I should say like that, the perspective of, Hey, don't miss this. And that's what happens again. When you ask him, what's the next right step in physical, when you start to name what you, what you're feeling in your emotions, when you start to name these things. And then what happens is, is he begins to, to, I wrote it like this. God gently replaces a lie without shaming your feelings. He gently replaces a lie without shaming your feelings. I was like, Lord, I'm not feeling it. I feel like I'm just, I'm just fumbling this stuff. And again, I'm just using myself for an example because I don't know anybody better. Like that's not that please hear my heart. I know myself better than I know anyone. That's what I'm trying to say there. And he's like, listen, he gently replaces a lie without shaming the feelings. That's what he was doing with me. Hey, I just felt him. That's my heart. Just go to first Kings 18, go to first Kings 19, see what I did for Elijah and then run
with that in your own life. God gently replaces a lie. One of the greatest things you can do is when the lie comes to your mind is replace it with truth. If you say, Hey, I am a piece of, I am a POS. No, no, no, no. That is a lie from the enemy. Not saying you haven't done POS things in the past, but here's the thing. You do not have to be completely dictated by your past. You are a child of, if you're, if you have accepted Jesus Christ and if you have not, listen, this is the best decision you'll ever make. It is the best decision you will ever make because you are, he says, Hey, listen, I will forgive you of that. Then I'm going to give you the, I'm going to replace that lie with truth and I'm going to give you that next step of what to do. So no, I'm not a POS. What I am is a child of God. What I am is beloved by God. The scripture actually says, Jesus was saying, John 17, let me mess you up that God loves you as much as he loves Jesus, which is hard for me to fathom. Listen, either Jesus is telling the truth, he didn't hit us with an LOL on the back end, like, HA HA! JK, baby boy! No, no, no, no, or baby girl! Whichever. And, you know what I'm saying, like, he doesn't say that, he says, listen, God, let them know, John 17, let them know that you love them as much as you love me. And here's the thing, when you feel like, when, what, I'm just using that as an example, whatever that lie is, go replace it with truth. If you're like, hey, I don't know the truth in this, that's why I said write me, let me help you. Let me help you. Let me say this, too. Securus is succurus, suck, sucky, and I get it, I'm on it, I just don't understand it, it frustrates me. I'm more of a smart inmate guy.
But, if that's all you have, listen, hit me up, okay, write me, I'll add you on it. If you have questions, like, hey, I'm living with this lie, this lie, this lie, and this lie, okay? And then, and you're like, I just don't know what the truth is, man, let me help you in that. That's why I'm here, alright? That's why I'm here, is to encourage you in that, where God will take a lie and replace it with truth, where you're not living on that sand, you're living on the firm foundation of who Jesus is. Alright, let me, last one, God gives Elijah a next step. I've talked about that a little bit. God always gives you the right next thing to do. If you haven't accepted him, the right next thing to do is accept him as your Lord and your Savior. That you will ask for forgiveness for your sins, your shame, your shortcomings. And you say, Lord, I don't want, I don't want to be the king of my life anymore. I'm asking you, forgive me for what I've done, and that you will be the Lord of my life. Lord means king of my life. All of us have a throne in our heart, and on that throne sits something. And Jesus says, that's where I want to sit. I want to be the king of the kingdom of your life and show you what, how you are made to live. And that's why he says, listen, if anybody wants to follow me, deny your way, pick up your cross and follow me. He says, listen, give up your way. All of us have a way. Pick up your cross. Cross is denying of the flesh, it's denying of selfishness. But also, remember this, the cross is the reason why Jesus came to earth. So I think it's two sides of the same coin. It is denying of your selfishness and your flesh, but it is also picking up the purpose. You still, if you are alive, you still have a purpose. And you're like, yeah, but I'm behind this fence. So purpose stops at the fence? That's not true at all. That's a lie that we need to replace with truth. Does that make sense?
And then he says, then follow me. That's where we see the ways of Jesus. That's where we go through. I tell you guys all the time, don't start in Genesis when you read the Bible, start in John. And then go to 1 John, 2 John, 3 John. Then go to Matthew, go read the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5, 6, and 7. See what it speaks to you. Those are the ways of Jesus. And he says, listen, give up your way, pick up your cross, deny your flesh, and pick up your purpose, and follow me daily. Man, so listen, I just believe there's always a next right step. And if yours is salvation, there's a little button below, click that. Maybe you're like, hey, I'm already a disciple of Christ. Maybe this is where you're just honest with God. You're just telling him your feelings. Maybe he's gonna give you that next right thing. It's just a physical thing. Hey, I want you to do this or I want you to do that. Whatever it might be, if you're feeling depleted, man, I just hope this encourages you. I really do. 1 Kings 17, 18, and 19. Go check it out. Go read it. Go chew on it. Get it in your heart. I'd love to hear, man, if it's speaking to you or you see something different in it, I would love, love, love to hear it. It's a fun story to read, too. It's a really fun story to read. And I just see myself so much in Elijah in those moments. All right.
So now we are getting to a little bit of, this was going to just be bonus episode stuff. And it ended up being, man, you guys love, love, love getting out of the studio and into the world. So let's go do that. All right. Shout out time, ladies and gentlemen. Shout out. That's what time it is. I just, I also realized halfway through teaching a minute ago. I had my Celsius. I'm sorry, but wouldn't like trying to, I was just trying to look like a, I don't know, whatever. Oh, and after this, once we get him a shout out, we're going to, we're going to go to Bass Pro. Walk you around there. You're going to see the pickled quail eggs in there. I'm going to try one. My son thought it'd be hilarious to watch me try food. Sweet home Alabama, Lord, I'm coming home to you. Sweet home Alabama, Lord, I'm coming home to you. Sweet home Alabama. Now Muscle Shoals has got the swampers. And they've been known to pick a song or two. Lord, they give me all so much. They pick me up when I'm feeling blue, and I'm about you. Sweet home Alabama, where the skies are blue. Sweet home Alabama, Lord, I'm coming home to you. Sweet home Alabama. All right, here we go. Quail eggs. My son dared me to do this. I've got some water here, because thank God this is from Kroger.
