Thank you for joining us at House of Rust Church Modesto. We are a Grace International Church with over 5,000 churches worldwide. Welcome home! Welcome home! For over two and a half years, our Bible studies, podcasts and Sunday sermons have been streaming into prisons and jails across the country, reaching nearly 7 million views and seeing over 9,000 salvations. We read every letter, stories of former Muslims, former drug addicts, former gang members, who met Jesus behind bars and had their lives transformed. But when they come home, it's hard. You feel like you don't belong. Expectations are high, reality is rough and many end up going back. That cycle is called recidivism and we're stepping in to break it. Introducing Bridges, a re-entry and life skills program for men and women coming out of prison or jail.
Bridges means breaking old patterns, restoring responsibility, integrating into society, developing life skills, gaining accountability, establishing stability and sustaining the change. This isn't another church service. It's a weekly space to be real, get support and build a foundation, so you don't go back but move forward into the life God has for you. If you or someone you love has come out within the last year, visit our website, click prison ministry and fill out the form. Let's build a bridge to a new beginning together. For more information visit www.prison-ministry.org Good morning, church. How's everybody doing this morning? Can we give it up for our worship team one more time, please? Good morning, everyone. God bless you. Welcome to the House of Rest Church. Before we're a church, we are a family. It's good to see all of you. It's a great Sunday. It's not so hot. But, yeah, I'm just glad to see you all. Amen. Praise God. Well, actually, Juan, where's your wife at? Where's your brand-new wife?
She's over there. Oh, that's right. She goes to Spanish, huh? She just got married yesterday, so congratulations. Do you have a picture of them, Abraham? It was a blessing to be able to. I was honored. Amen. There they are. I was honored to officiate it. And, you know, Juan's came a long way. If you guys know this or not, he was one of the people that watched us on Pando from a prison in Florida. After 15 years, and he was introduced to Yesenia, and how many years ago? 2020. So you guys were corresponding, and she happened to be in Modesto. And then he gets saved and starts watching House of Rest, and then he's, like, he's telling her, yeah, I'm going to just get away from Florida. I'm going to start a different life with Christ. We're going to serve the Lord together. And then he starts watching us and realizes we happen to be in Modesto, the same city where she's at. So he made his way over here, and, man, I remember the first day you showed up. You said, oh, this is my fiancee. I said, well, we can fix that. And we love you guys very much, Juan. really really proud of you proud of everything that you're doing you know and uh and just keep going amen all right um as you guys know we support missions here and uh on missions we always ask for three dollars and your three dollars gets split one dollar two dollar three dollars with pastor george in india pastor thomas in nigeria and pastor moses grace international as you guys know has thousands of of churches leaders but these are the three that we choose and um i wanted to share with you a a praise report but it's a scary praise report from pastor thomas in nigeria he sent this to me yesterday he says good morning my friend

Thank you, Lord Jesus. Mark your calendars for our yearly Grace International Regional Leadership Conference. This September 28th and 29th, all Grace Churches from California, Arizona, and Nevada will get together for a time of learning, encouragement, and fellowship. The best part is that we encourage our House of Rest Church family to stay at the same hotel for fellowship and bonding. The hotel has a great free breakfast, pool, and hot tub. So here's the game plan. On September 27th, Sunday after service, we will make our way to the City of Orange. So make sure you're all packed up and ready to go. If you have any questions, please ask Pastor David or Sharon. Do something different this year. Mark your calendars for our yearly Grace International Regional Leadership Conference. This September 28th and 29th, all Grace Churches from California, Arizona, and Nevada will get together for a time of learning, encouragement, and fellowship, and bonding.
We encourage our House of Rest Church family to stay at the same hotel for fellowship and bonding. The best part is that we encourage our House of Rest Church family to stay at the same hotel for fellowship and bonding. The pancakes, the eggs, it is on me. Oh, it's free breakfast? Man. Both days it's on me. No, not dinner. All right. All right. So if this is something you're interested in or something that you want to think about, I know we have a few, like 20 flyers. If you could raise your hand, they'll give you one. It just has, you're not obligated if you take a flyer. If for some reason they don't reach you, we're going to make more. We printed these kind of last minute and the printer acted up, so I think we only got like 20 of them. But they're going to be in the lobby from now on all the way until that date. But it has the dates on it and, and hopefully you can, you can go and, and you can make it. All right. One last thing before we get into the word is my understanding that Sister Judy just accomplished her license to be a certified counselor. Where's she at? Oh, there you, you're so small, I couldn't see you. Amen. Again, again, if you knew her testimony, you know how much it is a time to rejoice. Congratulations. Amen.
All right. Do you have your Bibles? Lift up your Bible. Say, this is my Bible. It is God's word to me. My guide and my strength. I bring it ready to learn. I open it with faith in Jesus. I live it with courage. Without it, I grow weak. With it, I grow strong. Today, I bring it, believe it, and obey it. In Jesus' name, amen. Oh, man. You know what? Let me get a drink of water. I also want to tell our media team, I appreciate them so much. When there's issues with the screens, and they're just busy while we're worshiping, they're trying to get things working and getting it going. So, shout out to the media team. All right. Today's message is titled, The Promise, the Process, and the Victory. The Promise, the Process, and the Victory. Victory. I know that the Lord brought each and every one of you strategically because he is a strategic God. He brought you here. You are here not by accident because you need to hear this message. This is for you.
And if we can go and open our Bibles to the book of Joshua, chapter one, verses one through three. The book of Joshua, chapter one, verses one through three. Let me know when you have it. Okay. Give you a few more seconds. We want to be a Bible opening church. Joshua chapter one. Joshua chapter one, verses one through three. All right. So just to kind of set the scenario here, Moses was leading the people and he raised up Joshua to lead the Hebrews after him. And so the book of Joshua, it steps into a new chapter for the people of Israel. And it says this, it says, after the death of Moses, the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua, the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, Moses, my servant, is dead. This is the Lord speaking to Joshua. Moses, my servant, is dead. Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, Jordan is a river, you and all this people into the land that I am giving to them to the people of Israel. Verse three says, every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon, I have given to you just as I promised to Moses. Amen.
I love the fact that God confirms that he is with him in the same way he was with Moses. I love the fact that he says, everywhere you step, I'm going to give it to you. I don't know about you, but I read stuff like that and I know God was talking to them back then, but it's in my Bible and I bought this Bible and I'm just like, that's talking to me too. I receive that verse, that every place that I walk, Lord, you're going to give it to me. You see, when you read the scriptures, they are full of promises. This whole book is filled with the promises of God from Genesis all the way to Revelation. It's a book of promises. Some people see it as a book of laws, a book of rules, a book of, man, it's a book of promises. You know the best part? How many of you have broken a promise? You probably broke a promise this morning. Yeah. So have I. But God does not break his promises. If God says something, he's going to accomplish what he says. So here's the thing though, when we read through the word of God and we see the promises of God, some of us, we hear the promise, receive the promise, and move toward the promise. Some of us.
Most of us hear the promise and forget it. We completely forget about it. And the thing is that a lot of times we want things now. We live in this microwave generation. We live in a time where you want to watch a movie, you could just stream it, and you go to fast food and you get your food fast and everything is quick. And I mean, everything is fast. We want it now. But when we look at the word of God, when we see things, not all the promises were instant. Not all of them were going to even be accomplished in your generation. That's why I always say God is a generational God. Did I pray in? Didn't, huh? I knew something was off. Lord God, I thank you for this word. I thank you for this opportunity to share your word. I give you all honor and all glory. This is your word. This is your pulpit. This is your message. Stir our hearts, stir our minds. Anything that is not of God, I command it to leave this place. I pray for your anointing to pour from this pulpit all the way to the back, Lord God. I pray, Lord God, in the name of Jesus for your voice to shake and quake inside of our spirit and our soul. I pray in the name of Jesus for us to be motivated in a way where we will take everything that the enemy stole from us. Lord God, we thank you for your word in Jesus' name.
Amen. That's better. That's better. All right. That's right. That's it. Amen. Yeah, Sharon's laughing because I woke up. I don't know why I thought it was Monday. I thought it was Monday and I woke up and I'm like, oh, I got to go to the gym today. I almost got up and left to the gym. That would have been funny, huh? But the nation of Israel did not happen overnight. This is one of the promises that we're going to be talking about today is that God made a promise to a man named Abram that later on would be Abraham. And God made a promise to him, matter of fact, in Genesis chapter 12. It's the first book of the Bible. In Genesis chapter 12, we see this promise. Verses 1 and 2. And the Lord, so the Lord sees this man named Abram and he says, the Lord said to Abram, go from your country and your kindred, in other words, your family, and from your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation and I will bless you and make your name great so that you will be a blessing. So God talks to Abram and says, I'm going to make a great nation out of you. He is there living in a different land with his family, with all of his people. They had gods that they worship, but there was something in Abram that God saw. And he says, you know what? I have something to give you, but you got to get away from this. And when you get away from that, I need you to go to this place. I'm going to make a great nation. You, I will bless you. The whole place. I'm going to make a great nation. You, I will bless you. The whole world will know who you are. Your name will be great and you will be a blessing, but it didn't happen overnight. And that's what, that's what if any, if one of the things we're going to learn today is that the promises of God don't always happen overnight, because if we know the scriptures, I'm not going to sit here and read the whole old Testament to you, but it goes from Abraham and he had Isaac and the promise continued and from Isaac to Jacob and the promise continued all the way to Moses. A lot happened in those years where God spoke to Abram all the way to Moses. Matter of fact, the Bible says 430 years. So sometimes in the promise, the process takes a long time. You were given a promise, but then there's a process. And for the Hebrew people, there was a process of 430 years. That's a long time. We just celebrated 250 years of this nation. And think about 250 years. And we feel like this
nation has been around a long time. This nation's a baby. It's a toddler. So in a span of 430 years was the process of Israel, of hardship, of despair, of loss, of grief, of war, of famine, of death and slavery. So a lot of times when God promised you things, you better brace yourself because when the promise, it comes a process. And there's always going to be that process. And sometimes we despise the process. We want, everybody wants the promises of God. If I say, who wants the promises of God? Every hand would raise up. Who's ready for the process? Hands would go down. There's the promise and then the process, but oh man, that process hurts. There's pain in the process. You know, yesterday, our daughter revealed a gender reveal and she's going to be having a baby girl. And yeah, amen. That's the baby, you know? And I'm just like everybody was so happy and we were celebrating because we're happy at the promise. But now she gets nine month of process. There's a process and that process hurts from my understanding, I've never been a woman. But some of you, I see your big head kids. That process hurt. And then I look at my new son-in-law's big head and I'm just like, oh my gosh, my poor baby. Oh, he's right here. It's because he knows a lot, that's why. Yeah. Many times, guys, I want to tell you that when you're going through the process, maybe not 430 years, but when you're going through the process, it will make you believe that the promise was never even made in the first place. That's how hard sometimes the promise is to even hold on to. And that's why a lot of times I've heard this said
and I've said it, when God gives you a promise, you better hold that thing. You better hold it and guard it with your dear life because life will make you forget the promise was even made. And we have to hold on to those promises. And maybe some of you are in that place right now. You're so far deep in your process that you can't even see the light anymore. You're like, man, I received that promise. I received that promise. I received that promise. But right now, because of the process, you can't even see it anymore because that process will tear you down. That process will make you question your sanity. That process will break you, make you doubt yourself, even to the point of doubting God. Hardship, despair, loss, grief, war, famines, death, and slavery. Sometimes I fail to wonder what that promise was like when my mom received the promise and she received it that I would preach someday. And I was like five years old. Not realizing when she spoke out that promise, she received that promise, she held on to that promise, my gosh, the process I took her through. And the heartbreak and despair and the pain that came with it, even to the point where maybe, I don't know, in her heart of hearts, she doubted she even
heard that promise in the first place. Because as a process gets closer and closer to fruition, the harder it gets. And there's people in the Bible that we can sit here for hours and hours, but we won't. But I'll just make a quick summary, a quick mention. For instance, Noah was given a promise. And it took roughly 55 years to 100 years to build the ark in order to get to the process. That's a long time. Think about that, right? So House of Rest has been around now 15 years. And it's been around for a long time. It's been around now 15 years. And we got some people in here. Can you imagine preaching for 120? And the only people you save is your own family? See, that's why we don't judge by the size of the church. Because matter of fact, the Bible says that God found Noah righteous. But he didn't fill up the ark with people. But God still found him righteous. Because Noah did his part. He obeyed. He heard. He did what he was supposed to do. And that's all you can do, man. That's all you can do. The Bible says to preach the gospel. But don't beat yourself up if you can't get people
to surrender to Christ. You do your part. So you will be found righteous in the eyes of God. King David was anointed king. But it took him 15 to 19 years of process to become king. Oh, what a glorious time when Samuel came and anointed him king. He's like, man, that's awesome, not realizing he was going to get chased and spears thrown at him and hiding in caves because he received the promise. But he had to go through the process. And that process almost killed him. That process broke him. So be careful. Because when we receive the promise, which is a great thing. Understand there's gonna be a process of it. Another person is Joseph. He was shown a promise. He was a young teenager. He had this vision. He had this dream that God showed him. But in a span of 13 years, his brothers hated him, threw him into a pit, sold him into slavery. Then he got sold to a master. That master accused him, thrown into prison. He's 17 years old when he's thrown into a pit, and now he finds himself at 30, sitting in prison saying, what happened? Maybe I was wrong.
Maybe that promise wasn't right. Maybe I'm just going crazy. Maybe it wasn't because there was a process that he had to go through. We see this reoccurring. This is why I'm saying so many different instances because you have to understand that if you are going through the process, you are not abnormal, you are normal. It's a normal thing. Don't beat yourself up over it. Don't think you're less of a Christian. Don't think that God hates you. The process is part of it. There's a woman named Ruth, found a handsome husband, thought life was great, everything was gonna be awesome, but then her husband dies, her father-in-law dies. She doesn't know what to do. She doesn't know where to go. She follows her mother-in-law, Naomi, back into Israel. She was a Moabite. She had to go through the process, didn't even understand what the promise was. Sometimes you don't even know what the promise is because you might be like, well, wait a second, Pastor David, I'm going through a process and I don't even know what the promise is. Ruth didn't understand what the promise was,
but she instinctively knew that she had to follow after her mother-in-law, move to a foreign land, and then she gets to that foreign land and has to pick up the scraps that other people leave in the fields just so she can gather a little bit of grain to make bread, a little piece of bread, just for her and her mother-in-law, Naomi. She's a widow. She's practically a beggar. And she found herself through the process, not realizing that the leftovers that she was picking off the fields were fields that she would own someday. Amen. Some of you Ruths out there, you have no idea that you're picking off of stuff that God's gonna give you and hand to you. There's a process. Her legacy was right there, but the process didn't let her see it at first. See, for some of you, your promise is right there in front of you, but the process won't let you see it. The promise, then the process. But regardless of how long your process is, here's the thing. If it's a promise from God, not a promise I make, because I can't keep every promise.
Men can't keep every promise. Women can't keep every promise. Your boss can't keep every promise, but if God makes a promise, understand that if you're going through the process, there will be a victory. There will be a victory. There comes a time when that process is time to be over. The woman might suffer for nine months, and then those last hours, she's really gonna suffer, but what's gonna happen is something's gonna happen, and she's gonna have victory because that which caused her pain is now close to her heart now. After 430 years, Moses led them out of Egypt, went through the Red Sea, went into the wilderness. 430 years, all the time, from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and Joseph, and all the generations, and finally Moses, and all these people were just broken now. They couldn't even see the promise, much less the victory. But now Moses comes and brings them through these things, brings them through the wilderness, brings them, and all the time, where is God leading Moses? To the very place that he promised Abraham 430 years back.
But see, here's the thing. God says, I don't forget my promises. I promised Abraham that I would make a great nation out of him, and it will not be stopped. Nothing will stop my promise. No devil in hell. Not all of the, of any wicked demons can stop the promise that I have given to Abraham. And the Bible says he's no respecter of men. Meaning this, is that if he promised. Abraham fulfilled it. That means if he promises you he's gonna fulfill it. We got to hold on to that. But all of those years, 430 years, and then they're brought to this point now. And they finally reach the Jordan. See the Jordan River is kind of the border of Israel. And after 430 years, after all the stuff they went through, all the generations, everything that was promised, and the process, they are now standing and they can see with their physical eyes the land that was promised to Abraham. And Moses says, give me 12 men from the 12 tribes of Israel. And I want those 12 to go into the land and case it out. Go check it out. See what it's like before we take our wives and our children and our elderly. Go see what is over there and come back and report to me. It's smart, right? If we go to the book of Numbers chapter 13 verses 25. Numbers 13 starting at 25. So he gets these guys, and he says, I want you to spy the land that was promised to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, and to all of us. And I want you to go and see and check it out. So Numbers chapter 13 verse 25. They were gone for 40 days. And it says here, at the end of 40 days, they returned from spying out the land. And they came to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation of the people of Israel in the wilderness of Paran at Kadesh. And they brought back word to them and to all the congregation and showed them the fruit of the land. It's funny, right? Because I remember I was with Pastor Angel. We were coming back from Merced in 2010. And we were driving. And the exit for downtown here, I instinctively heard in my heart the Lord say, get off. So I got off.
Angel didn't say nothing at first. And I just started driving around downtown. And after a couple blocks, he goes, what are you doing? And I said, the Lord said, this is where I'm going to plant house of rest. Because I thought it would be in Tracy where I'm from. And I just started driving around downtown. He goes, what are you doing? I said, I'm looking for a building. I said, and right then and there, I started to hear the word of God in my heart saying, you're going to be downtown Modesto. You're going to be a beacon of light to the city. You're going to bring my spirit into this place. So that's the promise. So that's the promise. See, he told them, go case out the land. I didn't know Modesto. The only thing I knew in Modesto was my old connect. I didn't know people here other than my cousin and series. But I did not know Modesto. I didn't know people here. I didn't have any relation, any roots here at all whatsoever. So I feel like when God told me to get off and I started driving around, it's like God saying, hey, I'm sending you out. This is what I'm going to give you, but I want you to case it out. What do you see? And I just literally stuck to the downtown area because I did know this. I knew, I don't know if it is today, but back then it was like you had the west side, you had south, you had airport. And so if I start open a church in airport, ain't nobody else going over there unless you're from there. If I open a church in the west, ain't nobody going there unless you're from there. So the Lord said, I want you to stay in the very center of Modesto because it's going to be a place of neutrality and I will bring them to you. So they started to look around. They came back in verse 27. They told him, man, we came to the land, which you sent us. And you know what? It flows with milk and honey. And this is its fruit. And they brought. brought back some of the fruit they found. But verse 28 says, but however, the people who dwell in the land, they're strong. And the cities are fortified and very large. And besides, we saw the descendants of Anak there. The Amalekites dwell in the land of Negev, the Hittites, the Jebusites, the Amorites dwell in the hill country, and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the Jordan. That would be like,
let's fast forward to the time I drove a Modesto. And let's just pretend that my brother is a doubting one. And I'm driving around and I'm just like, okay, the Lord said, this is we're going to plant it right here. And we drive around and angels like, Oh, man, I don't know if this is a brilliant place. I mean, it's nice. I see a lot of fruit here. But man, I see bloods and crypts, Norteños, Sureños. I see a bunch of crackheads over there. I see this, I see that. And they have overtaken, they're giants, they're strong. They've overtaken this place. David, what are you doing? That's basically what they're saying. He's like, man, the Amalekites dwell in the Hittites, the Jebusites, the Amorites. They're all there. The Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the Jordan. They're all over the place. But Joshua and Caleb were two out of the 12 men. And Caleb speaks up. In verse 30, he says, but Caleb quieted the people before Moses. He's like, hey, calm down. You guys are getting carried away here. And Caleb said before Moses, let us go up at once and occupy it. For we are well able to overcome it. In other words, Caleb was like, listen, I don't want to hear none of this negative talk. Let's go take what was promised. We've waited 430 years. We've already gone through the process. God gave the promise to Abraham. Let's take what's ours. 31 says, then when the men who had gone up with him said, we're not able to go against the people for they are stronger than we. They started to doubt. They started to forget the promise because they were so in tune to the process. They forgot the promise. And they're just like, there's no way. Look at all these people. Look at all these enemies that are here. There was no way. They're stronger than us. So they brought to the people of Israel
a bad report of the land that they had spied out. Saying the land through which we have gone to spy it out is a land that devours its inhabitants and all the people that we saw in it are of great height. In other words, man, why are you opening a church in Modesto? Do you realize that even the literacy rate is so low, the income of people is so low and people are just completely in gangs and drugs and ex-convicts and, and all this stuff and alcoholism and all this stuff. Why do you want to be here? They're stronger than us. You won't be able to establish a church in Modesto. That city is utterly lost. And I'll say, but I heard the promise. I heard the promise that God gave. Because even way years before I got off the exit, I knew the promise that God gave me in a time of my despair. And I'm either going to hold on to what the Lord said to me, or I'm going to forget it. I don't want to focus on the process. I'm going to focus on the promise. And you got to make up your mind right now, which one you're going to focus on. In verse 33, And there we saw the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim. And we seem to ourselves like grasshoppers. And so we seemed to them. They saw giants in the land. And they actually refer to them as the Nephilim from back in Genesis. And these are giants. How can we overcome them? How can we ever do this? And if you go to chapter 14, verses one through eight, so when everybody heard this, when everybody heard all those giants and there's Jebusites and all this stuff, it says, then all the congregation raised a loud cry, everybody started crying. And the people wept that night, all night long. They're like, we went through slavery, we went through the Red
Sea, we went through the desert, all to be here. And now we got to face giants that are going to kill us and destroy us. And all the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The whole congregation said to them, would that we have died in the land of Egypt, or that we had died in this wilderness, and then they started complaining. They're like, man, why did you bring us here to destroy us? We were better off. slaves we were better off addicts we were better off in prison we were better off in alcoholism why did you bring me to this church because you gave me a hope and a promise but all i see is giants to overcome and i can't do it god why don't you just leave me where you found me why is the lord bringing us bringing us into this land to fall by the sword our wives and our little ones will become prey would it not be better for us to go back to egypt sometimes the process is so long and so hard and so so excruciating that everything in us wants us to run back to the comfort back to our sin back to our old life it was easier i was just talking the other day i remember going to the halfway house the federal halfway house in oakland i had to live there when i got released and there was this guy he was there for three weeks he did 15 years and after three weeks of being out in the free world he went and tried to rob a bank on purpose to get caught because he said life out here was too hard just to get another sentence to go back because he says this is too much you know and it makes me sad because he was so busy looking at the process that he gave up hope and verse 4 said they said to one another let us choose a leader and go back to egypt and when the people heard this when moses heard this verse 5 and moses and aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the people of israel everybody's on their faces moses didn't know what to do and joshua caleb's homie the son of nun and caleb the son of jeff who were among those who had spied out the land they tore their clothes they were so angry they were so heartbroken they started to tear at their clothes and they said to all the congregation of the people of israel he says man the land which we pass through to spy it out it's a good land what are you crying about if the lord delights in us he will bring us into that land and give it to us a land that flows with milk and honey
joshua was couldn't understand because he understood he had his focus on the promise not the process joshua was like man i don't know about you guys but i'm done with the process i'm finished it's time for the victory it is time for the victory this is promised god promised it to me he said it so and i'm not going to put the process higher than his word joshua was like man i'm ready i'm ready i'm ready i'm ready for what god has for me this process is too long i've been in this way too long way too much there's a time and a place where the process is part of the process is part of the process but then when you reach that moment are you going to stay there are you going to jump what are you going to do the promised land is right there in front of you and you got to make a choice imagine if the baby after nine months says yeah i don't want to leave here right yeah i'm good oh you women are like oh no i don't know about you church but i'm ready i am ready as a church are we ready are we a church that is full of the 10 spies are we a church that full of of joshua's and caleb's that's the the this is the question that we got to ask ourselves because you know what i'll tell you right now i received the promise of a church titled house of rest on january 1st 2009 new year's day and the lord showed it to me in a vision he showed it to me he said it to me and here's what's crazy i was not in a place to start a church at all i could have easily saw that and be like oh man that's crazy but i was going to receive the promise i'm like man all right god i don't see how this could happen because i'm in a place like this but i receive it because you say it because you are a man of your word you're a god of your word you know i actually i'd have to go through my stuff but i actually wrote it down house of rest and i put january 1st 2009 i wrote it down and i received it what i didn't know at that time Was the process I Had no idea of the process and man I can sit here all day and tell you about the process So many think oh man, it's easy to pastor a church you just get a building and you just stand up there and you just say scriptures and Just people will come
Think about that it is not easy Why would men women get their kids ready to come and hear you speak If it ain't an anointing from God that is doing that you're not gonna draw nobody Because people want to hear God People want to hear a message from the Lord It is not an easy thing to do because and all of you you could you could have gone somewhere else a Lot more handsome preacher nice nice-looking church But you're here You're here and that is not an easy thing to do that is huge from a place that I Received the promise from a place that looked impossible To to finally 20 chairs in a basement then a warehouse and then for like a year and a half I was in a karate school. I would preach and it was mirrors all the way around. I thought I was Bruce Lee sometimes You know those those those rubbed-up You know those those those rubber it's like a half a man and you punch him When I counted attendance, I would count them, too How many people you got past 25 They count and and and they were always by a mirror so those two There's mirrors on this side there's that side and then those those half dummies those half dummies and then I saw two where I was standing So before anybody got there, I already had 20 people Like we're packed out today and they got saved every Sunday 20 chairs in a basement process warehouse process karate school process Then we would have to rent an office building the process lost a couple buildings the process I'll be honest with you. There are times and moments Where I forget the promise from January 1st 2009 There are days where I forget And I'm not talking about a long time ago. There are some days now That I forget because sometimes the process looks so hard And I get in despair and I get down and I get discouraged But here's the thing then all of a sudden something in me and I know it's the Holy Spirit
Saying why are you paying attention to the process? Don't you remember the promise? What is the promise David? Well, you know it God. No, no, no. No. No. What is the process God, you know? No, I want to hear you say because I don't think you know Well, Lord you said that we would be a beacon of light in the city of Modesto And then we'll be a beacon of light in the state of, California And we will be a beacon of light after that to this entire nation and God will see and God will move in this place In Modesto, California and pretty soon the entire world is gonna know what is happening on this little corner on 9th Street Then on F Street Lord God that is a promise that you gave me Lord God because you took me out of a place of Darkness where I would why I would speak death to thousands through my music Lord God and you told me that you would take that and multiply it by the millions Lord God and the gospel would be preached and people would be saved and Prisons would have revival and jails would have revival and people would come out of darkness Lord God That is a promise you gave me That's right So, why are you paying attention to the process? So, why are you paying attention to the process? So I'm telling you church today That people will talk about this place in Chicago People will talk about this little tiny building we got in New York people will talk about this church in Dallas people will talk things in Houston and Phoenix in Colorado and Boston and Los Angeles and San Francisco and San Jose Best-seller books will come out of this place world leaders will come out of this place Pastors will come out of this place Evangelists will come out of this place Worship leaders will come out of this place Counselors will come out of this place Movies will come out of this place because that is a promise give it to me. I'm not paying attention to the process I'm looking at the promise Lord. I Don't care how things look Lord God because your word is bond or God what? you say is what's gonna happen, Lord God. I don't care what it looks like. I don't care what giants
are ahead of me. I don't care what the Amalekites, the Jebusites, or any Nephilim are in front of us. I know the promise that I got from God. The things we see and experience will be talked about across America. I promise you, write this date down today. And I'm not saying it's necessarily gonna be me. God is a generational God. I might be the Moses, but God is about to raise up the Joshua's and the Caleb's. And you know what? I'm okay with that. I'm okay with that. I just want to be part of his plan. That's all. Abraham received the promise, but Abraham went to Isaac and Jacob and all the way down, all the way down to the people. But they finally got to see it fulfilled. For all I know, maybe I'm paving the way for some of our children. That's, I'm okay with that. But what I want to know is, are you a Joshua or Caleb? Are you part of the other 10? That's what we got to come down to. Because a little bit what Sharon shared with me about the women, when the women were together and some of the things you women were saying about this church, it really encouraged me. Women, you have no idea. You have no idea on the drive home that she was telling me some of the beautiful things that you were saying about this church and you learning and you're growing. It lit a fire up inside of me. I am not lying. I'm telling you, sometimes it takes the women a light of fire under the men of God. There are some hungry women for God in this church and they're, they are tired of the process and they want victory. Women in this church are growing by leaps and bounds because they're tired of the process. They want the victory. They're ready and they're waiting for a lot of the men saying, man, what are you guys waiting for? Let's take what's ours. And I don't want to say this because I don't think this is happening, but I sure don't want a bunch of men that are just playing games and like, like Tino says, hemming and hawing. We need some men to stand up and quit playing games. Oh, I'm in a world. Oh, I'm not. Oh, I'm struggling. No, I'm not. Let me hide from the pastor. Let me not hide from the pastor. Let me read my word. Let me not. Let me talk to all the single girls on the unders. Let me do this. Let me do that. Man, get out of here if that's what you want. I don't got time for games. We're looking for some Joshua's and Caleb's that are ready to take the land that's ahead of us. I'm ready. I'm ready. Going through the motions. Come on guys. Going through the motions like, like, like, as if you love the process and you never want victory. You never want victory or, or, or, or, or maybe you think this is just a regular old church. No, God didn't take me out of what he took me out of to have a regular old church.
God didn't take you out of what he took you out of to have a regular old church. God is doing something. The spirit of God is stirring in this place and it is going to be says in the last days, I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh. God is looking for the Jacob, the Joshua's and Caleb's of the land. That's my phone. Going through the motions. You can't tell me, oh, this is a regular type of church. That'll be the same in five years. Cause 15 years ago, we were in a basement. I know ministries that were started 15 years ago, and they're still in the same place where they're at. And I'm not saying nothing bad again about that. Praise God. Uh, but I'm just making an observation that I can't ignore that. I see ministries come and go. I see ministries diminishing. I see ministries that are still in the same place because maybe just maybe God needs to ignite in them that they have been paid attention to the process for so long. They no longer hold on to the promise, but I don't want to be that. So in the span of five years from a basement, I could have not ever seen what would happen in the five years after that five years after that, in the five years after that, I'm telling you right now, what's going to happen five years from now, it's not going to be the same. And you don't believe me. Ask the ones that were in that basement. Matter of fact, that's the ones that left because they thought it would become nothing. Ask the ones that left the office building because they thought it would become nothing. They're sitting in that little tiny building because they had no vision, because they thought it would come to nothing. Ask the ones that left the warehouse because they're like, man, we're in a warehouse, man. This ain't gonna be nothing. Ask them. I can't get past the process with the 10 spies that had no vision. This is what I'm saying.
We can never get past the process as a church if we're all a bunch of the 10 spies. We need some Joshuas and Jacob in this place because we can't do it alone. I can't do it alone. Together with God, we can make all things happen because he is in it. The promise, the process, the victory. We have a city to reach. We have a state to reach. We have a nation to reach. We need to stand for the things of God. Actually, let's all stand. As a proclamation, we need to stand for God. And we need to stand on our promise. And we need to stand on what it is that he said. Men, at a count of three, I want you to yell out victory. One, two, three. Victory. Let's see if the women can do better. Women, one, two, three. Victory. Woo. That'll make walls come down. Everybody together, one, two, three. Say Jesus. That's what I'm talking about. Victory. Let's give the Lord a hand. Where are the men at?
Where are the women at? Where are the women at? Joshua chapter 24, stay standing. Check this out. Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem and summoned the elders and the heads and the judges and the officers of Israel. And they presented themselves before God. And Joshua said to all the people, thus says the Lord God of Israel. Long ago, your fathers lived through Euphrates, Terah, the father of Abraham. He's reminding them of the promise. From beyond the river. And he led him through all the land of Canaan and made his offspring many. And I gave him Isaac. And to Isaac, I gave Jacob and Esau. And I gave Esau the hill country of Seir to possess. But Jacob and his children went down to Egypt. And then I sent Moses and Aaron. And I plagued Egypt with what I did in the midst of them. And afterward, I brought you out. All right. I'm in space. And he says, then I brought your fathers out of Egypt. And you came to the sea. And the Egyptians pursued your fathers with chariots and horsemen to the Red Sea. And when they cried to the Lord,
he put darkness between you and the Egyptians and made the sea come upon them and cover them. And your eyes saw what I did in Egypt. And you lived in the wilderness a long time. He's telling them the story, guys. Then I brought you to the land of the Amorites who lived on the other side of the Jordan. And they fought with you. And I gave them into your hand. And you took possession of their land. And I destroyed them before you. Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, he arose and fought against Israel. And he sent and invited Balaam, the son of Beor, to curse you. But I would not listen to Balaam. Indeed, he blessed you. So I delivered you out of his hand. And you went over to the Jordan. You came to Jericho. And the leaders of Jericho fought against you. And also the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. And I gave you into their hand. And I sent the hornet before you and drove them out before you, the two kings of the Amorites. It was not by your sword or by your bow. God says, I gave you the land on which you had not labored
and cities that you had not built. And you would dwell in them. And you eat the fruit of vineyards and olive orchards that they did not plant. And I'll end it with this. The Lord says, now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faith. Faithfulness Put away the gods of your father's serve beyond the river and in Egypt and serve the Lord This is what Joshua was saying put away your old gods put away those alcohol bottles put away your drugs Put away your old filthy thoughts put that stuff away break down those idols get rid of them once and for all 15 says and if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord Then choose this day who you will serve Whether the gods your father served in the region beyond the river or the God of the Amorites in whose land you dwell But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord I know the process I have seen the process and I'll be honest you to you I have been discouraged, but I will not pay attention to the process I will pay attention to the promise that God gave us and I know that God is gonna do a mighty work here and God is Gonna raise up leaders of men and women here and God is gonna raise up leaders from your children And God is gonna raise up leaders from their children's children and God is gonna anoint this place and everywhere It's gonna be a place where say can you believe what happened in Modesto? What happened in Modesto man? There's a revival that's sweeping across the land and it started in this little church right there. That's what I'm talking about I refuse to listen to the process. I will hold on to the promises of God There are some of you watching this through your screen and you do or Discouraged because all you see is the process and I'm telling you to hold on to the promise Hold on to the promise because God's Word it is God's Word hold on to the promise We're gonna open these altars we're gonna worship right now We're gonna sing the song of his lyrics and we're gonna mean it with all of our heart I want you to fill this place up like you were an army come up like a Caleb come up like a Joshua I
Hold on to the promise He only knows how to try He will never fail Yeah We're not backing down from any Giants We know how the story is the process will be done and victory is there See Victory for your family Victory for your marriages Victory for your health Victory for your finances We hold on to the promises of God we hold on to the promises of God The enemy thought he could destroy you. The enemy thought he could discourage you. Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on. He will turn it around. He will turn it around. You take what the enemy meant for evil, and you turn it for good, you turn it for good. I'm gonna see a victory, I'm gonna see a victory, for the battle belongs to you, Lord. I'm gonna see a victory, I'm gonna see a victory, for the battle belongs to you, Lord. I'm gonna see a victory, I'm gonna see a victory, for the battle belongs to you, Lord. I'm gonna see a victory, I'm gonna see a victory, for the battle belongs to you, Lord. You take what the enemy meant for evil, and you turn it for good, you turn it for good. You take what the enemy meant for evil, and you turn it for good, you turn it for good. You take what the enemy meant for evil, and you turn it for good, you turn it for good. Yes, yes. Deuteronomy chapter 28. If you faithfully follow the voice of your Lord God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the earth, all the nations on the earth, and all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God.
Blessed you will be in the city, blessed you will be in the field, blessed shall be the fruit of the womb, and the fruit of the ground, and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds, and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before you. They shall come out against you one way, and flee before you seven ways. The Lord will command the blessings on you in your barns and in all that you undertake, and he will bless you in the land that your Lord your God has given you. The Lord will establish you as a holy people to himself as he has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in his ways. And all the people of the earth shall see that you were called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you. And the Lord will make you abound in prosperity, in the fruit of your womb, and in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of the ground, within the land that the Lord swore to your fathers to give you. The Lord will open to you his good treasury, the heavens, to give you the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hands. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you shall go up and not down, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you today, being careful to do them. God is going to do something great in your life. God is going to do something great in your children's life. Receive that. God is going to do something great in your ministry. The Lord says stand still and see the salvation of God. I will move in this place, says the Lord. I am looking for Joshua's and Caleb's, says the Lord. Where are my mighty men, says the Lord. I will raise you up. I will raise up an army across this nation. You will see. Word of God says in the last days I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh. Nothing will be able to stop his flood. Nothing will be able to stop his spirit. There is no place on this earth that can keep him out. He will penetrate even the walls of the prisons. He will penetrate through the walls of your heart. He's about to do a great move and are we gonna be part of it or we gonna be just watching from the sidelines. I don't want to be part of the ten. I want to be

God bless you. God bless you and have a great Sunday. God bless. I've been coming here to the service for a little more than two years, more or less. And we just came with Pastor Armando, since he started his service in Spanish. Now, they are not on vacation, and he asked me if I would do the message. And I said yes.
For me it is a pride to do it, to speak the word of God. I would like to tell you a little bit about my testimony, how I came to Christ. I was raised Catholic, and the belief is very different from the Christian one. It's all different. During the course of time, I began to drink so much that I had a lot of problems in life, until I suddenly couldn't drink anymore. My body couldn't take it. And my wife and my son Luis began to go to a Christian church in San Jose. And my wife would always tell me, let's go, let's go, this church is different. And I never wanted to listen to her. I was fine that way. I didn't want to know anything. Finally, I went. And from the first day I went, something in me changed. Something in me was different. Something in me made me change.
Eso era todo. we are going to pray for today.
For service and for people, if there is anyone who wants prayer, come forward. If there is someone who wants to accept Jesus, they also come forward. Lord, we thank you for this day. We thank you Lord, for your blessings. We ask you, Holy Father, that you protect us, that you protect everyone in this congregation, Lord. That you give us strength, that you give us faith, that you have us ready, Lord, for your work. In the name of Jesus, we ask you for protection through Pastor Armando, Lord, Pastor Lorena, wherever you are, that you bring them safe and sound, Lord. And that you bring them back with good, in the name of Jesus. We give you all the glory, Holy Father, and all the things, Lord, that we ask in the name of Jesus, that you help us to follow you, to change things and to remain in your name, in the name of Jesus. Thank you, Lord. Amen. Si hay alguien que quiera oración, podemos orar por ustedes también. Muchas gracias y que Dios los cuide en este domingo. Gracias. Gracias. Gracias. Gracias. Gracias. Gracias.
