Welcome to our Sunday service here at the House of Rest where Jesus is a senior pastor. We have a seat with your name on it. We appreciate you for spending your Sunday morning with us. Established in 2011 and still going strong. All in the name of Jesus. Here is our QR code where you can find out everything you need to know about us. Our schedule, giving, events, Bible school and services. The QR code is posted everywhere in the church's lobby and other rooms. Make sure to check often. There is always something to do. Thank you for joining us at House of Rest Church Modesto. We are a graced international church with over 5,000 churches worldwide. Welcome home. For over two and a half years, our Bible studies, podcasts and Sunday sermons have been streaming into prisons and jails across the country. Reaching nearly 7 million views and seeing over 9,000 salvations. We read every letter. Stories of former Muslims, former drug addicts, former gang members who met Jesus behind bars and had their lives transformed. But when they come home, it's hard. You feel like you don't belong. Expectations are high, reality is rough and many end up going back. That cycle is called recidivism and we're stepping in to break it.
Introducing Bridges, a re-entry and life skills program for men and women coming out of prison or jail. Bridges means breaking old patterns, restoring responsibility, integrating into society, developing life skills, gaining accountability, establishing stability and sustaining the change. This isn't another church service. It's a weekly space to be real, get support and build a foundation so you don't go back but move forward into the life God has for you. If you or someone you love has come out within the last year, visit our website, click Prison Ministry and fill out the form. Let's build a bridge to a new beginning together. Good morning again. I'm Jennifer and it's such an honor to be here this morning to give you your announcements. Let's just give it up for our worship team, man. You guys, thank you so much. The way they usher in the presence of the Lord in this house is just incredible. Announcements for this week, this coming Friday the 17th at 6.30, we're having our women's discipleship class. How many women, can I get a show of hands or give me a little woo? Who is coming to those? Anyone here? Yeah, a few of us. You're really missing out if you're not showing up. It's such an intimate time together and just studying. We're studying women in the Bible right now, and so I really encourage you to come out at 6.30 and join us, get together, get to know one another a little bit better and just do a deeper dive into a study about the women that came before us in the Bible, right?
We're also doing youth at 7 o'clock every Wednesday night. So if you have children in the grades of 7th through 12th, bring them out for the Wednesday night get-together. The youth is really growing. They're developing relationships, godly relationships. It's really important in the world that we live in today. So bring your kids, have them bring a friend. Let's try to really grow that ministry. We've got an amazing team of leaders that's pouring into our children, so thank you guys very much. We're also doing young adults on Wednesday nights. So if you're over 18 but you're not quite yet as old as some of the rest of us, we have a place for you as well. So that's the young adults. They get together doing things that are fun and building relationships in that age group as well. And my favorite time, we're gonna do meet and greet. So if everyone could stand up and say hello to your neighbor or go out of your way and meet someone that you haven't. Kando, Adobo, everyone tuning in online, thanks for joining us today. We're glad you're here. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi.
Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Amen. Hello to all those that are watching on their screens. God bless you. Thank you for being a part of this service, a part of this church. We appreciate each and every one of you. God bless you. Thank you. YouTube, Facebook, Pando, Edovo. God bless you. God bless you. We're going to say that? OK. We're not going to release our children yet. So just a few more minutes. Good morning, everyone. God bless you. Thank you for being here. Thank you for choosing to be with us. Thank you for your blanket not defeating you and you are able to get up. Amen.
So before we release the kids, because we have a couple of things first is, well, first of all, good morning. I don't know if I said that. Did I say that already? If I did, well, I'm saying it again. Yeah, it is a good morning. We're alive, right? Amen. I just appreciate each and every one of you guys for just being here, being part of this church, being a part of this family. And before we do this, I wanted to talk about something is that, as you guys know, we have discipleship classes. And those discipleship classes, after the 6, we have a certificate and a lapel pin that we give. But before we do that, I wanted to talk about school. And it's something that you guys hear the video and hear it mentioned, but I kind of want to sweeten the pot a little bit for those of you that have not yet joined. There's a lot to benefit from it, and there's going to be even more. The reason I say that is because over the years, so many people have said, I want to be discipled. I want to be discipled. I want to learn more. I want to learn more. But there's this thing called sleep that sometimes I need. There's this thing called hunger that sometimes I need.
There's a marriage that I have to take care of. And so sometimes I'm just like, how can I teach as much as we want to? And for a long time, we were trying to figure out how to do it. And so we have this program called school. And on school, it has classes. It has a community page, kind of like Facebook, but it's only people that are on school. You can post your favorite songs, your favorite picture of your dog, whatever you want, just like Facebook. But it builds community because here's another gap is that there's so many people that watch us online, and there's many of you that are here in person, but you guys don't get to know each other. So it's like we have a relationship with all these people online, and then we have a relationship with you guys, but you guys don't know each other. Well, school allows that to be. It creates community. It lets you post and you get to know each other. And not only that, but the content of the classes, but even better is that many of you took six weeks, probably longer, for whatever reason, to get your lapel pin and to get their certificate. Well, all the six classes are on school now. So you will be able to take it at your pace. There's a few different instructions
because you could just tell me you did it. So there's a few different instructions to prove that you did the classes on school. But a lot of you are gonna say, man, I want my pin, and I don't wanna wait six weeks. Well, guess what? Sign up on school and you can do it. Like I said, the protocol's a little bit different on there, but all the- instructions are on there and um here's another thing is that it's twenty dollars a month if that is something you struggle with but you're a giving person here at this church consider that twenty dollars part of your tithe or part of your offering because it puts a a monthly i don't want to it's almost like a commitment unto this church unto the lord that you say you know what i'm going to support it and man i'm getting i'm giving twenty dollars a month but i'm getting these classes from it i'm getting a lot of these things and i'm going to share with you some of the classes one of them is um that we're growing is why should i read the bible and that is actually by uh one of our theologians at the college at the i'm sorry in the woodlands in houston our houston church he's actually one of the professors there this is one class out of many that he's going to be doing that's something that's on there another one that's about to get kicked off this week is how to hear the voice of god or the four keys to hearing the voice of god that's about to be on there within the next couple of days the one that right now has nine classes or nine videos is church history a lot of people don't know the church history i think it's really important for us to know because you're asking like why do we meet on sunday why do we sing songs why do we pick up an offering why do we do this why do we do that so in order for us to understand church history this is a great way so many people have so many questions why is there so many denominations why is there a lutheran church a catholic church a baptist church pentecostal why why do we do what we do and this is a great way to start to understand that another thing we have is a book club we just finished this book but we're going to continue to add more and we did the tale of three kings and everybody we give you enough time to order the book you read it we talk about it we discuss it there's questions there's a pdf to print and there's different books
that we're going to be covering about leadership another thing we do is we call it a kind of a zoom meet and greet and this is really fun because this is where you really get to build relationship with people that are here or people that are in other states that follow us and you get to just meet and greet and get to know each other we do this this is something i want to do at least once a month we did one so far yeah i don't know those people but i didn't want to put your faces on there but is this something really fun guys now here's where i sweeten the pot this is why i believe so much that you would benefit from it that if you sign up today you get a free t-shirt from the the back there today and if the it's the one abraham do you have the the circle one the logo uh so there's this one and there's one with a woman in the front because if you're not a see this one and if you're just like man i already have it well you don't have it in a white shirt because we have the white shirts now available so amen so guys you get a free shirt if we don't have your size we happen to not the shirt will be available by wednesday for those of you online anybody any one of you if you sign up then all i ask is the shipping of five dollars and i will ship it wherever you're at you get a free shirt also long as you sign up on school how do you sign up on school is um on the back of the seat there's a qr code the website and if you go to the website you scroll down and you click that that that school like that one and it says a join join us and it takes you right to it and you can sign right up um so i don't know how much better to sweeten it you know um because this is something that we are really pouring a lot into we're going to pour even more into and i just believe with all my heart that you're going to grow and learn in your walk and in who you are not only that you get to be able to have a a commitment to help this church you know last week i was really worried about a bouncing check and i'm going to be honest with you if one family that gave if they didn't give we would have bounced that check we would not have made it and you know what i'm gonna be honest with you even more each month is getting worse so if the day ever comes where that door doesn't open for me then i know that hey we get what it is that we get But I was so thankful for the family that stepped in. But my gosh. You know, I've been really, really thankful that my my children for the last maybe six months have been watching.
My family has been watching online every single every single week. I've been sending them the link and they've been watching and they have been growing in the Lord. And just yesterday, I had maybe a one hour conversation with my little sister in Utah. She's the one that lost her husband two and a half years ago. And she says she started asking me questions about how the church began and just a lot of different questions. And I told her, you know what? As a matter of fact, I said, David's been teaching church history on school. And I said, she's like, what is that? And I said, well, let me send you the link because you because she loves the way David teaches, because she says that it's very simplified enough for her to to understand. And I said, I really think that you'll get a lot of value and you'll be able to learn a lot with the church history that he teaches. And the first thing she says, she says, you know what? I'll give up a few copies. I'll give up something for me to be able to to do this every month. And she got really excited because she's so eager to learn. My kids are hungry. They're so excited to learn every single week. And I sent her the link yesterday, and she's excited to be part of the school community, you know. And if that's what it takes for her to be able to to learn, I'm excited to see my family learn. Guys, do you guys realize how much I've been praying for my family's salvation? I have been praying for my for my older kids, salvation for them to come back to the Lord because they have stepped away from the Lord.
I had been praying for my family's salvation and to see them every week. Log in. They're watching right now. They're watching everything I'm saying about them. But praise God, you know, that they log in every week. I get excited to see that. I sit there and I watch and I'm watching and I'm like texting. And they're all like, man, that's good, man, that's good. That's exciting when you see that your family gets excited. That is exciting. Keep praying for your family. Don't give up. Send it to them. Send it to them because they might just get excited because sometimes the reason why people don't do things is because they don't understand. Sometimes they just have to understand where things come from or what they need more understanding, because sometimes we need things in layman's terms and pastor teaches layman terms. He makes it understandable for us. So I just wanted to share that with you guys. Amen. So we are excited. I want to call all pastors up here. All of you that are. Well, you guys know who you are, including our Spanish leaders, Spanish pastors. It's Armando. Armando, if you can come up. We have some certificate for discipleship training that we want to give out. We're really excited. Those of you there are until today, there are thirty nine pin holders.
One reason I say that is these lapel pins that you get after doing the six classes. And we're adding twenty six more today, right? Twenty six more. Yeah. Everybody up here, you guys. Yes. Oh, yeah, that's. All right. Oh, that's more in the mood now. All right. So, guys, we want to. So this is the way we do it when they come up, how do you want to do it? OK, listen, graduates, listen to the instructions, OK? Because somehow you guys don't listen to instructions when you guys come up and you guys get your and we give you your high five, you get your certificate. OK. OK, so let's move back, you guys, let's move back. Let's give them space because they're going to. Come on, can you move that? Can you move that out of the way? Get that out of the way. Okay, you're gonna come up. High five everybody. You're gonna act like you're gonna go all the way around. Okay. Yeah, you're gonna get your certificate, get your pin. You're gonna go around. Everybody is gonna high five them as they go around, okay? Then you're gonna come back and you're gonna start standing all the way in the front. Okay? So stand in the front, but don't block the way. Start right here. Boom, right here.
Who cares if you're in front of one another? But just stand here. Do not block the way of everybody else. All right? Because at the end, we wanna make sure we get a picture of everybody. Yes, everybody? All right. Because we never get a chance to take pictures of everybody and you guys, the congregation, is gonna participate by high fiving everybody. All right? We got it? And if somebody is not here, it's okay. We're gonna miss them, but we're not gonna miss the order. It'll come out of order, but that's okay because I know everybody that's here. Okay. So I'm gonna help you out here, babe, okay? All right. All right. Can I do it so I can yell and be loud? All right, because I'm a loud mouth. Okay. Everybody knows that, I know. All right, here we go. Turn it up. All right. Let's get up.
Let's get up. Come on, get up. Come on. All right. Here we go. Ready? Reyes for us. Come on. You hand them. Stand back there, babe. Stand back there. Reyes for us. High five them. Veronica for us. Vince Benham and Stephanie Benham. He's picking it up for both of them. Israel Ortiz. Maxine Ortiz. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Janet Garvin. Julianne Cuello.
Ted Sanchez. Come on. Come on. Dolores Delgadillo. Ted Sanchez. Ted Sanchez. Ted Sanchez. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Ted Sanchez. And picking up for Felicia Sanchez is her husband, Ted Sanchez. Tessie Cameron. Anthony Sandoval. Luis Sandoval. Maria Pacheco. Elbalinda Arroyo. Hollis Bernice. Oliver Rodriguez. Oliver Rodriguez. You can wait to come up with your husband, sister. Sister, you want to wait to come up with your husband? You can. Oliver Rodriguez. What, you want to call, you want to call yours?
A ver. Roberto Escarcega. Luis Arroyo. Rosa Mendoza. Juan C. Macido. Luis Arroyo. Jorge Torres. Maria Iniguez. Y vamos a pasar a Yesenia Escobar Macedo. Ok. Woo, come on. Alright, somebody get a picture of them. Come on Ted, come on Ted. Hold on, there's more people coming, there's more people coming Abraham. Maria. Alright, let's give them a big hand guys. Congratulations, thank you so much, God bless you. Amen, amen. Alright. Amen. Thank you. Amen. So is everybody settling back down? I want to, well there won't be any class today, we're going to continue next week unless you do the school. But I do want to say this, is that it gets very confusing if you're going to do class here and some on the school. So you've got to kind of make your choice. If it's going to be on school, if you sign up for school, do all six classes on there.
Or if you're going to commit to coming here every week, starting next week, then just commit to having the classes here. Because if not, it gets very confusing on keeping track of who did what. So now we want to remind you that we support missions here. Our missions as a Grace International Church, we have many, many churches around the world. But the three we support is Pastor George in India. Thomas in Nigeria and Pastor Moses in Uganda what we ask is three dollars a person three dollars a week And then those three dollars get set apart, and it's able to be a huge blessing for our three grace Leaders that we support and their their ministries Also the offering and the tithing I know that there's envelopes They have envelopes ready to give you if you need one if you have one they can get it from you and drop it in The box or you can drop it in a box yourself also like the QR codes in the backs of the seat also so You know I'm just gonna say that if this is the place where you are growing You know Then let's all of us do our part together So we can continue to grow and continue to have a place and continue to have a place for our children our young adults And for ourselves You know so let's just bow our heads Lord God We thank you so much for this opportunity Lord For this opportunity of this part of the service Lord God because it's the part where we give and we thank you so much first Of all four missions We pray that you bless each and every one of those missions and even the ones that we don't Support that are part of grace and those that are not part of grace. We just thank you so much Lord God We pray for the offering for the tithing in this house Lord God that our hearts be stirred Lord God and we come in to support the place that we love Because it is here where we learned is here where we we grow it is here where we are discipled it is here Lord God Where we feel your presence, and we just thank you so much Lord. We give you all honor. We give you all glory We love you Jesus. We thank you. I pray for jobs future jobs promotions for your businesses We pray for all the churches in Modesto those outside of here just so many churches in the city Lord God
I pray for those leaders those pastors those teachers and for those congregations. We thank you in Jesus name. Amen Ah My strength Oh Yeah Oh Oh Yeah Your presence cannot be outlawed Your glory will not be outlawed Your presence cannot be outlawed Your glory will not be outlawed Heaven belongs to the one Who was and is above Heaven belongs to our God Hallelujah Power belongs to the one Who was and is above Power belongs to our God Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Lord I thank you for this Sunday I pray for this message Lord in the name of Jesus We pray for your spirit to dwell here and stir in the hearts of the men and women that are here Anything that is not of God we command it to leave in the name of Jesus right now I declare freedom in this place Lord you are the senior pastor of this church And this pulpit will always belong to you We thank you in Jesus name Amen Amen Who has their Bibles? Uh oh Lift up your Bible Say this is my Bible It is God's word to me My guide and my strength I bring it ready to learn I open it with faith in Jesus I live it with courage Without it I grow weak With it I grow strong Today I bring it Believe it and obey it In Jesus name Amen
Alright I really pray that today's message called Direction Determines Destiny Direction Determines Destiny is going to speak to your heart You know the direction that you choose to go in your life will determine the outcome The direction that I choose on a street is going to determine where I go But a direction in your life, your decisions every year, every month, every week, every day Would determine your destiny And this is something like we really truly need to really integrate into ourselves That the choices we make at every moment determines our destiny And some of us go through life flippantly and not realizing that the choices we make It determines everything You know a few days ago we went into this antique store And we were just looking around, we're actually killing some time Because we were going to meet one of our daughters for lunch And Sharon called me to this display And in this glass display was this bible right here from 1890 That's a long time ago It was before people had cars Cars came 11 years later Before there was airplanes Before a lot of stuff that this Bible was printed. And if I go to the front page, it says, the teacher's edition, the Holy Bible, contains the Old and New Testaments, translated out of the original tongue. It says, appointed to be read in churches. Printed at the University Press in Oxford, London. I don't know if this Bible was ever used behind a pulpit. Maybe it's taken 136 years for it to get to this point. It's a long time.
But every choice, every direction, every move the owners of this Bible made brought it to this place right now, to be used for this message. It just took 136 years for it to get here. But its destiny was to be here right now. That's a crazy thought, right? Because direction determines destiny. So to honor this word, because I don't know if it was ever preached from, and I am not going to let a Bible disintegrate without it being preached from. So I'm not going to be preaching out of the ESV today. I will be preaching from the King James today. And we're going to read and start in Proverbs chapter 4. I got to be careful, so I might take longer than I normally take. Proverbs chapter 4, verse 25. Man, I know my other Bible so well. Usually, I just flip it, and it's already on that page. So you're going to have to wait on me now. Proverbs 4. Oh, thank God I know Roman numerals, because it's all in Roman numerals. Proverbs 4, 25. Let's see what we find here. Wait, is there a 25? How come it's not on mine? Maybe I don't know how to read Roman numerals. Oh, wait, that's chapter 9. There it is.
Yeah, there it is. Proverbs 4, 25 to 27 says this. It says, let thine eyes look right on, and let thy eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand, nor to the left, and remove thy foot from evil. In other words, what it's saying, is keep your eyes straight, stay focused, and established where you're going. Don't worry about what's on the right or what's on the left of you. Don't let your feet take you to evil, and let your establishment be exactly where you need to go. Go straight in the direction you need to go. Everything you have ever done in your life brought you to this point right now. You know what's crazy? 136 years old, but you had a destiny to hear this word being read by a book printed in London 136 years ago. In other words, this Bible had a destiny to meet you, yet you weren't even born yet in London 136 years ago. But here we are in 2026 in Modesto, California on July 12, 2026. I mean, let's be honest, it's just a book of pages. But it makes you think of the future, makes you think of destiny, makes you think of choices. Because can you imagine any one little choice, whoever
bought this, if it was bought by the next person instead of that person, it would have went somewhere else. it's made its way here. You know, and so even though this is just a book of pages, yes it's the Word of God, yes it is, but it's just paper. The paper used, this could have easily been used for something else. But what other things in your life have determined your destiny? Who you are, your character, your passions, your health, whether it's good or bad, your sanity or your insanity, your habits, your weaknesses, your strengths, your lifestyle, all of those things are shaped by the choices that we have made because your direction would determine your destiny. And I really want to bring it to everybody to really ponder and think about this and understand. So I have a few examples in the Bible that a lot of times if you start good doesn't mean necessarily you're gonna end good, and just because you start bad doesn't mean you're gonna end bad. Sometimes we can start something horribly, but in the end we change the outcome or vice versa. There's somebody in the Bible I want to talk about in 1st Samuel chapter 10 verse 1. 1st Samuel chapter X because it's Roman numeral. Starting at verse 1. King Dave, I'm sorry, not King David. The prophet Samuel went to choose a king that the Lord had directed him to, and it was a man named Saul. And in chapter... I walked away, my page closed on me. I think I gotta stand right here.
That's all right, we're patient. It took 136 years to get here. So chapter 10 verse 1 says that then Samuel... I'm gonna do this, okay. Then Samuel took a vial of oil and poured it on his head, talking about Saul, and kissed him and said, is it not because the Lord has anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance? So here Samuel comes and Saul, and Saul was humble. He was humble, and he allowed him the anointing to happen from Samuel. Everything started good. And if we skip down to verse 9 in the same chapter, it says this, and it was so that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart. And all those signs came to pass that day. So God chose Saul. Samuel anoints him, and the moment he walked away, God changed his heart, changed something in his heart. He was humble, he was excited, and he had his whole future laid out for him to be the first king of Israel. A matter of fact, when he went along, he began to prophesy. And nobody knew Saul as a prophet, but the Spirit of God came upon him, and it got to the point that as he kept going and prophesying, people are saying, are we going to say that Saul's a prophet now? Like that's how much he changed. That God changed everything, gave him a new heart, and everything is going to be different from this point on. And you would think, wow, that's awesome that God chose him, and he was going to live his life out exalting the Lord, and just praising God, and winning battle, and getting victories all in the name of God. But just five chapters later, if we go to chapter 15, verse 22, look what happened to King Saul.
There was a huge fight, a huge war that was going on, and Samuel showed up and verse 22 says and Samuel said has the Lord as great delight and burnt offerings as sacrifices. See here's the thing that he was told to utterly destroy every single thing about the enemy because it was utterly wicked. He said don't even save the animals. So here comes Samuel after the war and he starts to hear animals and he tells Saul he says hey why do I hear animals? Well a matter of fact why is there an offering? I'm not here yet. I'm supposed to offer the offering unto the Lord. I'm the prophet not you. Saul took it upon himself to burn a sacrifice. So Samuel shows up and that's where he says wait a second has the Lord in great delight and burn offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord. Behold to obey is better than sacrifice and to hearken than the fat of rams. And then he says this in 23 for rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft. So when we rebel against God we are acting like witches. You don't got to have a pointy hat on just disobey God and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. So this is what Samuel's telling Saul when you are in rebellion to God you are practicing witchcraft or it's like witchcraft and not only that when you are stubborn it's just like sin and iniquity like it is just a horrible thing in the eyes of God because thou has rejected the word of the Lord he has also rejected you from being king. Five chapters later anointed king excited walks away heart changes begins to prophesy five chapters later he's in disobedience and Samuel tells him you know what because you don't obey God everything God gives you everything God gave you he's going to take it from you. In 24 says and Saul said unto Samuel I have sinned for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and thy words because I feared the people and I obeyed their voice. Oh big mistake you know what he's saying he's like I was afraid of what people would say so I listened to the people instead of God. Oh man that sounds like a lot of Saul's nowadays. Why are you compromising the word? Why are you changing the word? Because I was afraid how people were going to think about me. I want people to love me. I don't want to offend nobody. He says I was worried because the people the people yeah I sinned but it's I had a good reason because I just the people were going to turn on me. Verse 25 says now therefore I pray thee pardon my sin and turn again with me that I may worship the Lord. He's like man I take it all back I'm sorry and 26 is and Samuel said unto
Saul I will not return with thee for thou has rejected the word of the Lord and the Lord has rejected thee from being king over Israel and as Samuel turned about to go away he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle and it rented. So Samuel went to walk away and and Saul in in his fear went and grabbed Samuel by his robe and the robe ripped. He says in the same way my robe ripped it's the same way God's going to rip the kingdom from your hands. You know I I think the Old Testament is so important and key because I've had a few people say why do we need to read the Old Testament? I'm not Jewish. I don't follow the law. I'm not we if you want to understand the character of God we need to read the Old Testament because God doesn't change and people say well that doesn't make sense because Jesus is loving and and God of the Old Testament I mean it was just pure wrath. Oh no I'm telling you he doesn't change. The wrath is still there. You know why you don't feel it? You know why I don't feel it? Because of the shedding of his blood on the cross because it sure isn't that we don't deserve it because we deserve the wrath. All of us. I don't care who you are. We deserve the wrath. So the same God of the Old Testament is the same God of the new but the differences were covered in his blood and people say well what does it have to do? Why do I have to believe that he died on the cross for me? Because if you don't accept that then and the wrath is on you, because he doesn't change. God does not change. So we need to understand that the way God deals with Saul is the same way he deals with us, but we have something that can cover us, which is his blood. But it's the same deal. You know, there's another person in the Bible, Solomon, which was actually King David's son, and he started well, too. After King David got old, he had a wife, Bathsheba, and that's a whole other story, but they had a son named Solomon. And there was one point where David was really worried, because he's like, Lord God, what's going to happen to my throne?
What's going to happen? And the Lord told him, I will make a king from your son, Solomon. And not only that, but your bloodline will reign forever. I don't know if David really understood this, because Jesus came in the bloodline of David and Solomon. And God was establishing something, but he says with Solomon, I will establish the kingdom forever. And so now David dies, and Solomon is on the throne, and Saul is long dead, and his father David is long dead, and Solomon is there, and he's sitting there, and he's just like, man, I don't know how to run a country. God, you will speak to my father, but I need you to speak to me. And the Lord spoke to him. He said, Solomon, what do you want from me? Ask me anything. And Solomon humbles himself, and he says, Lord, give me wisdom so I can rule your nation the right way. And God honored it. He says, because you didn't ask for riches, because you didn't ask for fame, you didn't ask for money, I will make you the most wisest man to ever walk this earth. And he blessed Solomon with wisdom. Matter of fact, if you read the words, so many people would talk about the wisdom of Solomon that kings and queens would come from other nations just to get his advice. Think about that. I mean, we have the Queen of Sheba.
We have other people that would come just to hear his wisdom. So you would think, man, he began well, so surely he's going to end well, right? Because when God blesses you, surely you're going to stand strong in the Lord, because you were crying out to God for a job, and now you've got a job. So surely you're going to stay in the ways of the Lord. You asked for a marriage, and God gave you a spouse. Surely you're going to stay in the things of the Lord, right? That's the way we think. But does it always go down that way? I have seen so many people just broke, and they got nothing, and just crying out to God. God blesses them with a job, and I see them here no more. I have seen people here come and say, man, I just want a godly woman. I just want a godly man. That's all I want. That's all I'm crying out for. And you're just here, and you're here, and you're here. But the moment that person shows up, you go ghost. Instead of saying, man, you know what? I love House of Rest, because man, if it wasn't for this place, and this family, and this church, I wouldn't have met my spouse. Oh, but you meet him, and then you bounce. And we do that. And who cares if you do it to us? But when we do that to God, God, I just want this.
I just want that. And then he gives it to you. God, I just want my freedom. Get me out of prison, Lord. God, I just want to be out, and I'm just going to serve you, and I'm going to shout your name. Three months later, you're with the homies again. Come on. In First Kings, chapter 11, let's see what happened to Solomon. Verse 1. Oh, man, I'm in Second Kings. These letters are tiny. I didn't think this through. What? What? All right. First Kings chapter 11, verse 1. Let's see how he ends. All right Solomon, wisest man, let's see. But King Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites. And of the nations concerning which of the Lord said unto the children of Israel, You shall not go into them, neither shall they come in unto you. For surely they will turn away your heart after their gods, and Solomon claimed unto these in love. And he had 700 wives, princesses, and 300 side chicks.
I mean concubines. And his wives turned away his heart. For it came to pass when Solomon was old that his wives turned away his heart after other gods. And his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father. For Solomon went after Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom, the abomination of the Ammonites. And Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and went not fully after the Lord as David his father. Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech. That's where the one they would throw the babies in. He built an altar for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon. And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrifice unto their gods. And verse nine, and the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the Lord God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice. The wisest man, blessed. The Bible says that Israel was at its peak with Solomon. They were the most powerful nation where queens and kings would come just to hear his advice. And he allowed the very thing that God told him not to do, and it turned his heart not only away from God, but he started chasing after the gods of his wives. Why do you think the Bible says, do not be unequally yoked?
I don't, don't give me this, well, I'm gonna save him. No, you're not. I'm gonna save him, and I'm gonna bring him to the Lord. I'm discipling him. Then how come I haven't seen you in three months? Do not be unequally yoked. Do not be unequally yoked because somebody else will come into your life, and before you realize it, they will draw your heart away from God. I will say this, I say this again and again. When you say, oh, is this person from God? Is this person from God? It's a really simple answer. It's not a whole hour session. It's this, does this person draw you closer to God or further from God? Because if you were worshiping him before, and now you're not so much, then there's your answer. If you're in the word before, cry not to God, broken before God, but now you're not. There's your answer. Because Satan can give you something too. I mean, there's more people in the Bible. You have King Manasseh, though. We did a sermon on him. The Bible says King Manasseh was evil and wicked, and there was nobody more wicked than Manasseh than ever before. He was the most wicked king of all. So you would think, well, man, if Solomon started good
but ended bad, if Saul started good but ended bad, well, Manasseh's starting bad, then he's gonna get worse. But the Bible says that Manasseh was thrown into prison, taken off of his throne, but in his cell, he cried out to God and said, Lord, I remember you. You are the God of my fathers. Please help me. And the Bible says that the Lord heard his heart and he brought him out of prison and put him back in the palace, and he was able to serve the Lord. And when he came into the palace, came back to his throne, he says, man, it was only the Lord God that saved me out of prison. So he called a decree across the land. and I want you to tear down every single idol, every single statue because as for me and this nation we will serve God from this point on and what has started bad ended good the backwards see some of you feel like rejects let's be honest you feel like the world judges you you feel like like like your life is written all over your face and there's people in some churches that might like oh look at him look at her look down on you because they never did nothing wrong in their life they were just raised in the church and they were just altar boys and all that and you come in here all busted and disgusted beat down from the feet down beat up from the feet up looking all messed up tatted up scarred up all this stuff and you're just like man if this person is serving God how am I gonna serve God just remember Manasseh
God will take somebody that is broken and shattered man God is the one that can there's this place in Southside Tracy where I grew up and the railroad tracks you have to cross the railroad tracks to go to Southside Tracy but if on a sunny day where the tracks are it it glitters because you know why because so many people get drunk and then they toss their over years and years and years and years decades of people throwing their beer at the tracks just to see the glass shatter so now when you go over there and walk through their drive-by they're just all glitters there's a million pieces Budweiser pieces Miller pieces old English I don't know whatever people drink can you imagine if somebody says hey I want you to get all the Budweiser and put that glass together and this and this and that you can't but God says I'll take the shattered pieces I'll take every little fragment every little sliver every little tiny piece of your shattered life and I will bring you back home and I will put you back together and then when I put you back together I will raise you up not to raise you up to exalt you raise you up so I will be exalted and glorified because nobody could have done this but me God says he takes the shattered person you don't gotta start well to end well Moses they were killing all the babies and Pharaoh was killing all the babies and and the mother of Moses didn't want him to die so she put him in a little wicker basket and sent him along in the Nile River where there's alligators and all kinds of animals because they were killing the boys and and it just so happened that the daughter of Pharaoh the princess found him and said look at this is a little Hebrew boy he's mine now but she's a princess she don't know how to take care of no baby she's like find
me a Hebrew woman to raise this child and guess who was there it was Moses sister and she comes and says I know somebody who will raise him he says oh bring her and here comes Moses mom I want you to take care of this Hebrew he's my son and she's like okay and he grew up in the palace grew up as a prince of Egypt but I I know I know this I I don't know this because I read it I know this because in my heart I know this because there's no way that that she was not going to pour into the little boy you are Hebrew you are called because the Lord said I'm gonna call my people I'm gonna call somebody out and they will free my people so I'm sure she poured into young Moses that it got to the point when Moses was an adult he saw an Egyptian man beating down a Hebrew and he went to stop it and he killed the Egyptian and he buried him in the sand the next thing you know he was banished out of Egypt he was he went to the desert to the back side of the desert not just the desert the back side of the desert not just empire the other side of empire and it just sent him to the to the south side they went to the deep south and there's Moses a murderer he he had everything he had education he had riches he lived in the palace and he found himself in the back side of the desert as a shepherd which I don't know if you know this but the Egyptian people looked at shepherds like garbage so he became that very thing that he was raised up to believe was garbage and God spoke to him through the burning bush and says I'm gonna use you to free my People so he started off as a murderer and ended up being one of the greatest prophets to ever walk this earth
Destiny choices is what we're talking about because direction determines destiny There was a woman in the Bible named Rahab she was a prostitute And She lived in a city named Jericho and She kept hearing of the stories of these Hebrew people that their God was so powerful that he opened the Red Sea as they passed through and when the armies of Egypt came that God allowed them to drown and she heard these stories and Guess what happened these Hebrew spies came into Jericho to check it out And the people started to look for them because they're like, hey, we can't let these Hebrews in man You heard what they did to the Egyptians. We got to get these guys I heard there's two that there's two of them walking around our city somewhere so they went looking for him and looking for him looking for him and Rahab knew this and she had a choice because remember direction determines destiny And she could have easily been like hey, they're they're up in my house but she chose to hide these two men and They even came up there you got to understand she could have been killed not only her but her whole family would have been wiped out for even Giving giving covering for spies But she chose she made a choice And she hid them and they came they didn't find them and then when they when the when the soldiers left she says listen Go out through my window She was but make me a promise That when when your people come, can you not forget the kindness that I gave you And they said we give our oath unto the Lord We want you to hang this scarlet rope out of your window, and we will not destroy anybody in this house She had a choice and that choice Changed her destiny how do we know that because when we go to the New Testament and we see the Bloodline of Jesus that he starts to name all the people in the bloodline of Jesus. You know who was there?
Rahab This woman this prostitute that the world looked down upon There are some women here that maybe that is your life That was your life or maybe you feel like that and you're just like there's no worth to me But the Lord said I will take this woman that came from something that was completely Rejected and I will use you to bring many people to the Lord her blood Jesus had a prostitute in his bloodline Choices Determines your destiny In the New Testament We see Peter and Judas Judas sold Jesus out Peter denied Jesus three times One of them went and repented unto the Lord and God restored him another took his own life Choices destiny Both Of them were in the presence of Jesus both of them were disciples both of them broke bread with the Lord both of them They saw the same miracles and saw the same healings both heard the same message both are sitting here right now And you're hearing the same message you're hearing the same gospel But choices determine what happens from here Because direction is determined by your destiny and and your destiny is determined by your choices How About the criminals on the cross There's two of them One to the left and one to the right of Jesus Both of them committed crimes Both of them were arrested both of them went to trial and lost and both of them were to be punished by crucifixion What's crazy is that they could have been crucified the day before the week before the month before They would have been crucified the next week the following Monday the following Tuesday, but they both happened by destiny
To be crucified at the same time as Jesus Kind of like this Bible found itself here at the same time as us It just happened. And one mocked Jesus, and the other got angry at the criminal and says, are you not even afraid of God? We deserve this punishment, but this man is innocent. Lord, will you please remember me in your kingdom? And what does the Lord say? He says, today, you will be with me in paradise. Choices. That choice right then and there, he could have went along with his homie and just continued to mock Jesus, but he made a choice, and it paved his destiny. One finished empty, started wrong, but he finished empty, and the other started wrong, and he finished full. Oh, man. You know, I love that story, because I don't know if there's any criminals in this house or not. But if they're, better be past. I love that story. I'm like, Lord, if you can forgive somebody like that, then you can forgive me. So what are we learning from all of these instances is that we cannot determine our life by the way we begin, praise God, because some of us started out bad. And you can start good and end bad, or start bad and end good. In the gospel of John chapter 8, starting at verse 1, John chapter 8, V and three lines. There it is. It says this, Jesus went unto the Mount of Olives, and in the early morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him, and he sat down and taught them. And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, they said unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery in the very act.
You know, it's a weird little side note for another sermon. If they caught her in the act, where's the guy? Right? Huh? Anyways, that's a other, that's Wednesday, yeah. This woman was taken in adultery in the very act. Verse 5 says, and then they're trying to teach Jesus something. He says, now Moses in the law commanded us, we don't want to do it, but Moses commanded us that such should be stoned. What sayest thou? Jesus, it says in the law of Moses, we need to stone this woman to death. What do you say? And this they said, tempting him that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down and with his finger wrote on the ground as though he heard them not. Verse 7, so when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself and said unto them, he that is without sin among you. Okay, whoever isn't sin, throw the first stone. And again, he stooped down and wrote on the ground. And verse 9 says, when they heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest. The older one couldn't, I mean, who's going to throw the first stone? Can you imagine? If you threw the first stone, then in essence, you were saying you were sinless and nobody was going to say that. He says even unto the last and Jesus was left alone and the woman standing in the midst. So everybody's gone. And there's Jesus with this woman caught in adultery and I'm sure she felt so much shame just being put out like that in front of. everybody. And Jesus lifted up himself and saw none but the woman. And he said
unto her, Woman, where are those who accuse you? Hath no man condemned thee? And she said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more. Why am I reading that? He left her with a choice. I'm showing you mercy even though according to the law of Moses you should be dead right now. I'm showing you mercy because you should have been in prison right now. I'm showing you mercy because you still should have been in that alley or that hotel on 9th Street loaded right now. I'm showing you mercy because this and this and this but I'm showing you mercy. I brought you to this place and I'm talking to those who are not yet saved. Those that are here and those that are watching through their screen. That God has forgiven you of so much stuff that you deserve to happen to you. And you're sitting here and he gives you a choice. What does he tell her? Neither do I condemn thee. Go and sin no more. She had a choice of direction that was going to determine her destiny. What choice do you make now that you gave your life to the Lord? Now that you got baptized in water here or whatever it is. Now that you completely surrendered to God or you chose to be a part of a ministry. You chose to teach or you chose the pastor or you chose whatever it is. What choice are you going to make right now today? Jesus saved her life. He gave her the choice and the choice was hers now. One other person I want to talk about. In Luke 18. Luke 18 starting at verse 18. Okay. How does that look in Roman numeral? XV. Okay. There it is. Thank you. Was that Tino? I bet you learned Roman numerals from the neighborhoods in LA, right? All right. See? And your wife thought you would never get nothing from learning that. Amen. Luke 18 18. And a certain ruler asked him, talking to Jesus, this guy, this rich man comes to Jesus and says, good master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? I imagine he's rich so he probably, well they didn't have British then, but I almost hear it in a British like uppity, good sir, what shall I do to have eternal life? With the little monocle on, like Monopoly guy. And Jesus said unto him, why callest thou me good? None is good save one. That's God. And he tells him thou knowest the commandments. You're asking me a question but you know the commandments. I'm gonna go into that why he, why Jesus says you
know the commandments, right? Besides him being Jewish. But where's it at? Where's it at? 18. Okay. Thou knowest the commandments. Do not commit adultery. Do not kill. Do not steal. Do not bear false witness. Honor thy father and thy mother. And and and so the rich man says, all of these I have kept from my youth up. I have not broken none of the commandments. So when Jesus heard these things he said unto him, oh you lack, you lackest thou one thing. You say you do all the commands but I think there's something missing here. Now here's a part that we probably don't get and when we're reading it is see the Levite people, the people that are the Levite family, the Levite tribe, they were meant to be priests unto God. They weren't supposed to be rich. They weren't supposed to have property. It was the other tribes that could do it but the reason the other tribes, God says, I'm gonna bless you but you got to give a tithe to bless the Levi so the Levi doesn't have to work because he's a minister unto me and he's been minister to the people he shouldn't have to go out and work he should be able to do what he's supposed to do but somehow this Levi was rich that's why Jesus says wait a second I know who you are and I know what tribe you come from and you're sitting here with your little monocle looking all British British I think it's the King James that's bringing it out of me and then I went to watch Young Washington you know and I almost wanted to order a Washington wig and I watched Patriot the other day so I'm like feeling super patriotic woman and he says these I've kept from my youth and now when Jesus heard these things he said it to him you lack is that one thing sell all that thou has distribute unto the poor and you'll have treasure in heaven and come and follow me in other words he's telling him you should be following me so sell everything you got see a lot of people read this and are like oh man God hates rich people it says here to sell everything you got he's talking to a Levitical person that should have been a a priest he says man you shouldn't be over there sitting in your limousine you should be following me so what did the young man do because he says I listened to all the commandments it says
when he heard this he was very sorrowful for he was very rich in the Gospel of Matthew it says that he walked away brokenhearted because he couldn't sell his stuff how do you expect me to sell everything now what's interesting is that Luke wrote Luke and Luke wrote the book of Acts I don't know if a lot of people know this or not so in other words the Gospel of Luke could have the book of Acts could have easily been called the second gospel of Luke so he wrote the book of Luke and then he wrote the book of Acts and he says something really interesting in the book of Acts chapter 4 and this is not we don't know many scholars believe this but we think many believe that the rich man showed up again and a lot of people don't know this again it's only the guess of scholars so we're not for sure but in Acts chapter 4 verse 36 and 37 this is a trip because how many of you believe that if it's in the Bible it's important right so why is this story in the Bible look at this acts 436 says this wait am I in the wrong chapter man I'm in chapter 9 hold on all right yeah there it is 36 and Joseph's who by the Apostles was surnamed Barnabas which is being interpreted the son of consolation a Levi and of the country of Cyprus having land sold it brought the money and laid it at the Apostles feet why is that in the scriptures the same author of Luke is writing this story and he says this Levi man that should have been a priest should have been a messenger should have been somebody for the Lord that should have sold everything he had he was rich and here it says his name was Barnabas and he sold everything and he just laid it all at the feet of the Apostles that I can't imagine why Luke would mention it in the book gospel of Luke unless he wanted to give some closure to this part in other words he started wrong he walked away he couldn't sell his stuff and he walked away brokenhearted but here it could be possible that when we're reading this not only Let's just know that he was a Levite, but he was a rich one and he laid everything so he started wrong
But ended good I Mean we can go on and on and on so many examples I mean Paul himself hated Christians hated Jesus had them arrested in prison and killed then he met Jesus and had a choice to make The Apostle Paul Christians couldn't stand him Christians feared him and yet he wrote much of the New Testament that we have Because he had a choice he had a choice to make Paul the hater of Christians became an apostle That planted most of the churches outside of Israel That to this day we still read his letters and matter of fact He was writing a letter to Timothy one of his students and he tells them something We're not gonna go to it, but he basically tells him he says listen The day is gonna come when churches will not teach right doctrine The day is going to come when when they're gonna preach after their own lust and they're gonna find teachers Saying what they want to hear And he says and they're gonna turn away from the truth And he's telling Timothy this he says I want you to watch in everything and do your afflictions do the working of an evangelist And then he says these words Because see Paul was in prison and he's writing this letter and they're not letting him go And I have a feeling that Paul knew this was his last letter because he tells him this he says in 2nd Timothy 4. I'm just gonna read it. But if you want to make a note 2nd Timothy 4 3 through 8 He says listen he says I am now ready to be offered and The time of my departure is at hand He's but I have fought the good fight I finished my course and I've kept the faith Many times in Paul's letters he said man, I'm the worst of all. I'm the worst person of all I persecuted the church I went after those who believed in Jesus But I'm gonna make up the rest of my life to make up for it And I'm gonna shout Jesus from every rooftop and if they stone me
And if they stone me I'm gonna get back up dust myself off and shout Jesus all over again And if they whip me if they hurt me I'm gonna get up and tend to my wounds and I'm gonna shout his name again Because I don't deserve his mercy because I started bad, but I promise I will end this well And he says man I have finished the I finished the fight I fought the good fight I finished my course, but I have kept my faith and I know that there's a crown in heaven waiting for me So as I as I wrap this up I Have a question to ask you a Question that you need to ponder in your own heart And it's simple What is your direction Right Here right now What's your direction Will you be the person that Fails your spouse Are you gonna be the person that wins them over Are you the person who will lose trust and respect Are you gonna be the person that earns it What direction are you gonna go What direction will we go as a church as a man as a woman I Don't know I don't have those answers. I don't know the future I'll be honest with you. I just walk blindly in the direction. He leads me All I can go is by whatever it is, he's telling me to do and And if someday the key to this door doesn't open for me I'm gonna keep preaching And but by the choice of many destiny will be determined for house of rest I'll still keep preaching his word word because I should have been in prison. It won't end but we all have a choice to make and make our choices as we wrapping this up you know and we look at Saul and Rahab and all the people that we talked about Solomon and Paul
the woman caught in adultery and and all their stories and and and what they have in common but I'll say this out of all the people that we talked about and many more we didn't talk about is none of them knew how their story was going to end while they were living it nobody here we don't know how our story ends some of us our story could end tonight so how does it end? King Saul didn't wake up planning to die on Mount Gilboa Solomon didn't begin his journey by worshiping idols. Paul never imagined one day he would preach the gospel the very one he was trying to destroy. The woman caught in adultery thought her story was over but grace gave her a new direction and you know what else what else is we don't know how we're gonna end either some of you here are thinking your past has already decided your future let me say that one again some of you here think your past has already decided your tomorrows that is Satan talking to you because it hasn't it has not or others are thinking oh yeah I had a good beginning you think it's a guaranteed good ending you're not because direction determines destiny every decision you make is either going to move you closer to Christ or farther away from him because there is no standing still in the kingdom of God there's no pause button I might take vacation but I don't take vacation from God so think about that you are either moving in the direction of God or you're moving away from God there's no standing still there's no fence direction determines destiny the encouraging news though is that as long as there's breath in your lungs God can change the direction now today the greatest miracle isn't just that that God forgives sins and yes that's an amazing one of course the greatest miracle miracles I've seen has been a life changed but it's also that God redirects lives he can change the path that you're going on he took a murderer named Moses he took a prosecutor or persecutor named Saul or Paul he took an adulterous woman he took a criminal hanging on a cross and changed their direction forever and if God can redirect them then he can redirect you he's no respecter of men so don't trust in yesterday's victories and don't be in prison by yesterday's failures I say
that one again because I was good and I wrote I was like oh don't trust yesterday's victories but don't be in prison by yesterday's failures so ask yourself one question if I continue in the direction I all of you ask yourself if I continue in the direction I'm headed to right now where will I be in five years and where will I spend eternity if right now in your life right and on a freeway there's exits all along all along all along I remember one time I was in Florida and when I went up to the space station it's kind of a funny story but I'll try to keep it short it was a long road all the way down to Fort Lauderdale there was nothing there's ocean on this side and and alligators on this side there is nothing not a gas station not a store not a hotel nothing and it was me and a couple buddies and I said hey man we better use a bathroom because it's a long road and he's like nah I'm good we're driving down this road and there was nothing he's like hey bro hey I got to use a bathroom man oh there's nothing there is nothing he had to suffer for like two hours there was nothing no exits no nothing and I say it to say this imagine where every day we have a choice but what would your life be like if the exits were all gone and the word the direction you were headed right now could not be changed where would you end up in eternity we have to think that way because none of us are promised tomorrow but because your destiny isn't decided by where you've been your destiny is decided by the direction in which you're willing to follow today so if your life ended exactly the way it's headed right now would you be pleased with that ending because if God is calling you to change direction don't wait for another chapter make today the turning point of your story it's Austin for those of you that are not yet saved I'm gonna give you an opportunity of a choice right now the Bible says that today is a day of salvation tomorrow is not promised if you want to rededicate your life because you've been saying you're a Christian by your mouth but your heart is far from God I'm talking to you too that what if we make that choice right now to go in the right
direction for your destiny there's no specific prayer in the Bible but I will guide you and and the Bible says that you confess with your mouth and believe it in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord you shall be saved and even better yet if that is you you don't have to do this but I challenge you to come up front as a as a token of saying God this isn't the direction I'm gonna go from now on I'm gonna rededicate my life or if you walk up say Lord I'm taking this direction I'm walking because I want to show that the direction I'm going is toward you this could be the greatest moment of your life right now doesn't matter who's in front of you who's behind you and the side of you what anybody's saying who cares you're gonna stand before God alone same thing with those that are watching through their screen this is your opportunity this is your choice don't make this a choice you reject and later on you realize oh man I should have took in that then with all heads bowed I want you if this is you I want you to repeat after me if you want to rededicate your life or if you want to surrender to your life to him right here right now and say Lord God I repent of all my sins I believe you died on the cross and after three days you rose again in power I want to go in the right direction I want to be led by you I don't want to be led by myself so take out my heart of stone and give me a new heart set my spiritual GPS in your direction Jesus Lord I thank you in Jesus name amen let's give the Lord a hand I want to open these altars because I have a feeling many of you need to really spend a few minutes with Lord and just talk to him come on these altars are open to worship it's gonna they're gonna sing and we just want to have a moment with the Lord your destiny is worth it your life is worth it take some time and ask God for direction in your life whether it's going right or wrong or whatever this message did to your heart and to your soul and just spend some time with him ♪ ♪

That is why it is so important to take the armor of God and put it on every day. The armor of God has to be permanent, put on us. And later we will see each piece of the armor of God. The reality that we have today is that even when we are asleep, how many of you know that there is a battle in the mind? There is something that is happening in our mind. You know, we lie down, we sleep, our soul reaches a state of rest, but our mind keeps running. How many of you have had bad dreams? Where are you fighting against evil? You know, if you haven't had a bad dream, give me the recipe so I can apply it so I don't have bad dreams anymore. But the reality is this, that each of us has bad dreams. Not only good, we have bad dreams too. And it is when we must realize that even before we sleep, we have to fight, we have to pray and we have to read the Bible so that we are ready and prepared so that when we have those bad dreams, we can stand firm. We can stand firm because the reality is that we all have bad or good dreams and sometimes we have dreams where we are going to have to be ready in our spirit to overcome the temptation, to overcome everything the enemy puts on us. Amen? Do you agree? Well, in Psalms 18, verse 32, it says, God is the one who signs me with power and who makes my way perfect. God is the one who signs us with power and He is the one who perfects our way. We cannot physically fight against the spiritual beings that are in this world
attacking our life. The spiritual concept of battle in the New Testament of the Bible is a battle where we fight daily against sin and doubt. And the key verse that we can read in the Bible is when Paul says in Timothy 6, verse 12, where he says that we must fight the good battle of faith. You know, it is not enough to have faith today, we have to have faith tomorrow and for the rest of our lives because faith is essential for our lives. Trusting God is daily, not just today or when you are going through a problem or a situation. The faith that we have to have in God is daily. Amen? Daily. We have to have faith. And faith is a tool that with the help of God we have to face any situation or circumstance in life. You and I who are in this world as believers, walking in the way of God, we have a spiritual war ahead of us that we must fight. Whether you like it or not, you have a spiritual war if you are in the way of God. We have a war and we are in a spiritual war where the forces of evil, whether you like it or not, because that is how the Bible teaches us, that we are fighting against the enemy of God, who is who? The devil. And the devil is not alone. The devil has his army. And later we will see what dominions, powers, spiritual hosts are. Let's see it. Let's see it. The Bible says that we do not have a fight against blood and flesh, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this century, and against spiritual hosts of evil in the heavenly regions. And if you have a coordinate, write the following, please. Number one.

If you are a Christian starting in the path of God, whatever it is, there will be a battle. And it will continue to be a battle until we die in this world and enter the presence of God. Well, let's talk about the pieces of God's armor. Number one, the belt of truth. Ephesians chapter 6, verse 14 says, Be firm, then, in your backs, with the truth. The belt held all the armor of the soldier without truth. Everything else falls. We have to put on that belt of truth. Jesus said,
You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. The truth of God is that we are created by God. We were formed in His image and likeness. And we are in this world, in a battle, fighting the great battle of faith. And we have to be ready for the mischief and the things that the enemy puts in front of us. The belt of truth held all the armor of the soldier. And as I told you, everything else without the truth. If we don't have the truth, everything else falls. If we don't have the truth of God, then all our belief is in vain. Because I can teach to crowds, but if the truth of God is not in me, to preach the gospel correctly, then it is useless to preach to crowds if the truth is not in me. Let's put on that belt of truth. The truth is Christ. In John chapter 14, verse 6, Jesus says, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one goes to the Father but through me. Jesus is the truth that we have to have in our life. You know what? The truth of God, which is Jesus, that truth has impacted many lives, like mine. When I was lost, I heard the truth, I received the truth, and now, thank God, I am proclaiming the truth. Amen?
And something we must recognize is that the devil, who is called Satan, Lucifer, you name him, works with lies, but God works with truth. Amen? With truth. Let's read a biblical example. This example is from Joseph. I'm going to tell you something before I read the scripture. When Joseph was at Potiphar's house, Potiphar's wife wanted to make him sin, but Joseph remained firm. He remained firm. He said, How could I do this great evil and sin against my God? Joseph was blinded by the truth, even though he ended up in prison, God, while he was in prison, exalted him. God can use us wherever we go, wherever we are. In Genesis chapter 39, verse 1 and on, you can read those scriptures where it talks about Joseph. Now, Joseph was sold to his brothers, right? After that, he was sold, and he ended up in the house of the king of Egypt. And there, God used him greatly, and using him greatly, he went through that temptation, where the devil used Potiphar's wife to make him sin.
But he remained firm, because he knew the truth and had the truth that he served God. He didn't serve man or woman. And he said, What am I going to do? I'm not going to sin against God. Number 2. The armor of justice. Ephesians chapter 6, verse 14 says, Dress in the armor of justice. Now, the armor protected the heart, and today, Satan attacks the heart.

If he could fight with me and defeat me, we will be your servants, and if I could more than he and defeat him, you will be our servants, and you will serve us. And the Philistines added, Today I have challenged the camp of Israel, give me a man to fight with me. Let's jump to verse 42. Verse 42 says, And when the Philistine looked and saw David, he had little of him, because he was a boy, and blond, and of beautiful appearance. And the Philistine said to David, I am a dog, that you should come to me with sticks. And he cursed David for his gods. Then the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of heaven and to the beasts of the field. Then David said to the Philistine, You come to me with sword and spear and boar, but I come to you in the name of Jehovah of the armies, the God of the squads of Israel, whom you have provoked.
Jehovah will give you in my hand today, and I will overcome you, and I will cut off your head, and I will give today the bodies of the Philistines to the birds of heaven and to the beasts of the earth, and all the earth will know that there is God in Israel. And this is what happened. What David said, he did it. He did it. He threw that stone, that stone was directed by God, he hit it right in front of the Philistine, or where you think it was hit, and it fell on the Philistine, killing him. David threw himself on him, took his own sword from the Philistine, and cut off his head. And after cutting off his head, he grabbed it and took it away. He took it away. Will there be something great for God that we cannot do? Of course not. You know, David believed and had faith in his God. And our God, my brothers and sisters, is the true God. He is the only God who has the power to destroy everything and do everything. He has the power to speak in existence from nothing to something. Number five, the yield of salvation. Ephesians 6 verse 17 says, take the tenth of salvation. What does it say? Does it say tenth? What does it say? Are you following me or not? Let's see, where are your Bibles? Ephesians chapter 6, verse 16, what does it say? 17, sorry, what does it say? Let's see, brother Adam is laughing. What does it say, Julie? 6, 17. Take the what? The yield of salvation. What is the yield? The helmet. Not the tenth, the yield. Well, the helmet protected the head, and today, the devil attacks our mind. Years ago, I heard an evangelist say that the greatest battle we have is here inside, in our mind, in our mind. You know, just like the helmet protected the head, God today wants us to renew our mind. And it is, as the scripture says, that we renew the spirit of our mind. We have the will of being able to put in our mind what we want to put in it. Amen? When we read the Bible, we are putting in our mind the word of God, and we are what? Feeding the mind. When we pray, we are exercising the mind as well, and we are feeding our mind. Is that right or not, Adam? Yes? Good. No puedes cambiar. Dios ya no te ama. Dios no te necesita. O simplemente, Dios no existe.
New God is not going to make them new in your life. You have to do the new things From the moment you were reborn that you gave your life to Jesus from that moment You have to make the effort to do the good things. Amen Leave the bad things behind and start doing the good things Of course God will help us do them, but we have to take our will and do them A biblical story that we can apply to this is Peter Peter denied Jesus three times, but Jesus restored his mind and his identity And then he was filled with the Holy Spirit, says the scripture He preached his first sermon or his first preaching And the scripture says that three thousand were saved Three thousand people were saved, they were baptized Salvation completely transforms our lives
In Luke chapter 22, verse 54 I know some of you are hungry, but I still have some left Are you ready? Yes? Shall I continue? Luke chapter 22 Let's go there, Luke chapter 22 It says, verse 54 Let's go to verse 54 And they took him and led him home to the High Priest And Peter followed him from afar And having lit the fire in the middle of the courtyard, they sat around And Peter also sat among them But a maid, seeing him sitting by the fire, looked at him and said, He too was with him But he denied him, saying, Woman, I do not know him A little later, seeing him, another said, You are also one of them And Peter said, Man, I am not As an hour later, another affirmed, saying, He too was with him, because he is Galilee And Peter said, Man, I do not know what you say And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster sang And he said, Then the Lord turned and looked at Peter And Peter remembered the word of the Lord that he had spoken to him Before the rooster sings, you will deny me three times
And Peter, coming out, wept bitterly Acts chapter 2, verses 32 to 41 You will realize there, you read it in your house That God transformed Peter's mind Peter was changed He wept bitterly, repented And he put himself at God's disposal He preached that preaching With the power of the Holy Spirit And those three thousand people were saved And they were baptized too Number six The sword of the Spirit Acts chapter 6, verse 17 The last portion of this verse says The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God Now, I will not tire of telling you that the word of God The Bible Is the only offensive weapon Why do I tell you that? Well, because Jesus used it In the desert, using it against The temptations of the devil Three times, the devil tempted him with the word The devil used the same word of God Against Jesus But what did Jesus do? He was able to face him And he betrayed him With the word of God, he defeated him, amen?
That is why I tell you That the Bible is the only offensive weapon He said confidently, it is written He did not argue It does not say that Jesus argued with the enemy, no When the enemy comes to you And puts the temptation on you You say, it is written To Jehovah God, I will only serve To him, I will only worship, amen? Do not argue with the devil Or with that thought that the devil puts in your mind Take the word of God And defend yourself, amen? And defend yourself Jesus used the scriptures, and a biblical story, Jesus. It says, Each attack was won with the word, and if Christ responded with the scripture, how much more must we do equally? That is why it is so important that we get into the scriptures, study them, apply them to our lives, and also, what? Speak them to other people. Because that is what St. James chapter 1, verses 21-25 says. In those scriptures, it clearly says that we are not only listeners to the word, but also doers. On one occasion, in the scriptures, it says, there were some scriptures where it said, I have faith, but I have no works. Or, I have works, but I have no faith. Do you know what the scripture says? It says that without faith, it is impossible to please God.
So, if you have faith, it is better to have works. Amen? And if you say and pretend that you have works, it is better to have faith to support those works. Amen? It is not enough to have a bible, because some of us have 2, 3, 4, 5 in our house. Right? In our house. But, what matters is that we apply it to our lives, and we do it against the temptations of the devil. Because there will be temptations. Big girls. But when you are tempted, do not say that it is from God. Do not say it. Because God cannot be tempted by evil. The only tempter who tempts you with evil is the devil. It is the devil. In Luke chapter 4, verses 1-13, there you will see and read about the temptation, the temptations that the devil did to Jesus. There you will realize. Read it in your house. Number 7. The prayer. The prayer is the power that activates all the armor. Some preachers say that the one who does not pray, the devil devours him. That is what some preachers say. Well, I grew up listening to what the Lord said. And that is the reality. If we do not pray, the pieces that we put on our armor will not serve. Because the prayer is essential. It is the communication that we have with God. The prayer. In Ephesians chapter 6, verse 18, it says,
Praying all the time. Jeremiah chapter 29, verses 12-13. What does it say? I will read it. Jeremiah. Chapter 29, verses 12 and on. Jeremiah chapter 29, verses 12 and on. It says the following, Where are you going? Sorry. I am in the wrong chapter. 29, I was in chapter 30. 29, verses 12. It says, Then they will call me, and they will come, and they will pray to me. And it says, And I will hear them, and they will seek me, and they will find me, because they will seek me with all their hearts. The armor without prayer is like a sleeping soldier. Do you remember when Jesus was in agony? And he went to Mount Gethsemane to pray. And he took some disciples with him. And what happened? What happened there? Well, a biblical story. Let's read about Jesus again in Gethsemane. Before the cross, Jesus prayed while the disciples slept. Jesus won spiritually. And the great victories that we can obtain begin with prayer. In prayer.
Matthew chapter 26, I will go there. Matthew chapter 26, verses 36. It says, Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to his disciples, Sit here while I go there and pray.
But the victory came because they trusted in God. They trusted in God. Today God asks us, Have you been fighting with your own strength? Are you using your own strength to fight? To go to war with the enemy? To face the battle you are facing? Or he also asks you, Is there a part of the armor that you have neglected? Maybe you have a piece of God's armor that you are missing. Or maybe, ask yourself, Have you been fighting with your own strength to get rid of Christ and to remain firm with him? Well, I don't know your life, but Jesus knows your life.
Stand up. Something I can tell you is that we must pray for the Lord to strengthen us with his power, and to dress us with all his arm, and to make us more than winners, as his word says, because the spiritual battle is a battle that will never end. As I told you, the battle will end when we die. But as long as we are alive, there is a spiritual battle, where we have to fight against the devil's schemes, against those lightsabers that he lights against your life. I already told you that many of those lightsabers are doubts, they are lies, they are temptations, and they are different things that he uses as his tool to make you fall. To make you fall. Close your eyes. And let's go before God. If you want prayers, this prayer, move forward. We can pray for you. But while we pray, pray in the name of Jesus. Pray with me. We thank you, my God, because you have spoken to our life, Lord, that you, my God, have provided that armor that we need to put on every day to be firm, Lord, in our walk with you. My God, today, on this day, I ask you to help us, my God, to put on that belt of truth, to put on that shield of faith, to put on, Father, that footwear of the Gospel, that you help us to put on that helmet of our salvation, and that you help us to put on that armor of justice to protect our hearts. My God, let us use, Lord, that tool that is your word, Lord, that penetrates our hearts. Your word is life, Lord, and it is your word, Lord,
that helps us and nourishes us day after day to be able to do great and powerful things in your name, to be able to overcome the enemy. Lord Jesus, help us to use the Bible as a tool to silence the devil and his lies and deceit. May we never fall into this trap of listening to the lies of the devil and believing them, but help us to be more than winners using your word to protect us from those lies and deceit that the devil puts in front of us. My God, I ask you with all my heart that you strengthen us, Lord Jesus Christ, that you help us to pray fervently day after day, that you help us to pray, Holy Spirit, that you help us to read the Scriptures, that you help us to fast every week to be able to deny our flesh and live in the Spirit as we should walk, as children of God in the Spirit. Teach us to walk in the Spirit and in truth. Teach us to walk free, but not free to do what we want, but free to adore you, to exalt you, to bless you, to follow you, to serve you with all your heart. I ask you with all my heart, in your name, Lord Jesus. Father, I ask you, my God, for those people who are in prison right now, who are looking behind a screen, going to Hidobu, I ask you, Lord Jesus Christ, that you, my God, strengthen them and help them to continue trusting in you, Lord, even in the midst of what is happening right now, Lord. That they can trust in you and know, my God, that they, my God, can have confidence in you, that you will never leave them and you will always be there to help them, Lord, while they remain on your path, Lord. Strengthen our brothers and sisters, Lord, there in the prisons, Father, that when they leave, Lord, they can find, Lord, a place where they can congregate, Lord,
and they can, Lord Jesus Christ, serve. In the name of Jesus, I ask you with all my heart, Lord. And, my God, I ask you for every family, Lord, that is here right now. Father, I ask you for the parents, that you help them, my God, as parents, to help their children to put on that heavenly armor. Help them, God. I ask you, Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, that you are protecting the families, Lord Jesus. Put a special protection on every member of the family, Lord. And I ask you, Lord Jesus Christ, that your salvation reaches every family, Lord, that is in this world right now, Lord Jesus Christ. In the mighty name of Jesus, I ask you. And also, my God, in the name of Jesus, I ask you, Father, for all our brothers and sisters in Christ that are around the world, Lord, wherever they may be right now, Lord Jesus Christ, we ask you to strengthen them and help them, Lord, to always put on that armor of yours, my God, so that they may be firm, Lord, in the midst of persecution, in the midst of problems, in the midst of circumstances, Lord. We lift up in prayer our brothers and sisters in Christ, wherever they may be, Father, in this world, that you help them, my God, if you are with them, Heavenly Father. In the name of Jesus, we ask you, Heavenly Father. And help us, Lord, not only to think of us, but to think of others, Lord Jesus Christ, because there are so many people right now who are being tied up by demons and evil spirits. In the name of Jesus Christ, we ask you, Lord, to free, Lord, all those people, Lord, who are right now lost, Lord, in addictions and in things, Lord, dark things. In the name of Jesus Christ, we ask you, Father, for all those people, Lord, who right now, Lord, are being used by Satan, we ask you, Lord,
that you illuminate their hearts and their minds, Lord, so that they may know the truth and be free from those lies and lies of the devil. We ask you, Lord, for all the Satanists that are right now in this world, that you touch their hearts, Lord Jesus Christ, and change their lives, Lord, so that they may know and recognize, Lord, that they are serving a false God who is useless, but only to deceive and to lie, to steal and to destroy. Reach, Lord, all those Satanists that are right now in this world, Lord Jesus Christ, and we ask you, in the name of Jesus, for those people who today, my God, have been attacked, Lord, by the enemy, Lord, I ask you, Lord, that they gain strength in you, Lord, that they come to you, Lord, and that they cry out to you so that you may help them, Lord Jesus Christ. I ask you with all my heart, God, in the mighty name of Jesus, and we thank you for the Celestial. May House Arrest Church continue to use the Celestial Weapon, as we have heard today, Lord, so that we may be more and more victorious and do everything we can to reach all those lost souls that are in this world. In the name of Jesus, your word says that the one who saves souls is wise, Lord, and what we want is to save people like you sent people to save us. Use us to save the lost humanity that is in this world, Lord. In the name of Jesus Christ, I ask you, Lord, and I give you thanks, Father. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
