He's the King of glory. He's the King of kings, and he's the Lord of lords. That's my King. I wonder, do you know him? My King is a far-blunt King. No means of measure can define his limitless love. He's enduringly strong. He's empirely sincere. He's eternally steadfast. He's immortally graceful. He's empirically powerful. He's impartially merciful. Do you know him? He's the greatest phenomenon that has ever crossed the horizon of this world. He's God's son. He's a sinner's savior. He's the centerpiece of civilization. He's unparalleled. He's unprecedented.

He is the loftiest idea in literature. He's the highest personality in philosophy. He's the fundamental doctrine of theology. He's the only one qualified to be an all-sufficient savior. I wonder if you know him today. He supplies strength for the weak. He's available for the tempted and the tried. He sympathizes and he saves. He strengthens and sustains. He guards and he guides. He heals the sick. He cleanses the lepers. He forgives sinners. He discharges debtors. He delivers the captive. He defends the feeble. He blesses the young. He serves the unfortunate. He regards the aged. He rewards the diligent. And he purifies the need. I wonder if you know him. He's a key to knowledge. He's a wealth frame of wisdom. He's a doorway of deliverance. He's a pathway of peace. He's a roadway of righteousness. He's a highway of holiness. He's a gateway of glory. Do you know him?

Well, he's light, he's matchless. He's fullness, he's limitless. He's mercy, he's everlasting. His love never changes. His word is enough. He's great, he's a seeker. He reigns, he's righteous. And he's young, he's easy. And he's firm, he's lighter. I would describe him, say that he's indescribable. He's incomprehensible. He's invincible. He's irresistible. Well, you can't get him out of your mind. See, you can't get him off of your head. You can't unlink him, and you can't do without him. Well, the Pharisees couldn't stand him. But they found out they couldn't stop him. Pilots couldn't find any fault in him. Terrorists couldn't kill him. Jets couldn't handle him. And the brave couldn't hold him. He's risen, he's risen, forever glorified. Risen, he's risen, being Jesus, being Jesus is alive. Come on. But the winding sheet they'd wrapped him in was just an empty shell. And how or where they'd taken him was more than I could tell. Well, something strange had happened there, but just what, I did not know. John believed a miracle, but I just turned to go. Circumstance and speculation couldn't lift me very high. Cause I'd seen them crucify him, and I saw him die. Back inside the house again, the guilt and anguish came. Everything I'd promised him just added to my shame. When at last it came, the choices I'd denied, I knew his name. And even if he was alive, it wouldn't be the same. But suddenly the air was filled with strange and sweet perfume. Light that came from everywhere drove shadows from the room. And Jesus stood before me with his arms held open wide. And I fell down on my knees and just clung to him and cried. He raised me to my feet, and as I looked into his eyes, love was shining out from him like sunlight from the skies. Guilt and my confusion disappeared in sweet release. It is important to teach our children the reason why we celebrate what many call Easter. I call it Resurrection Sunday. But it's important for the children to know and understand. I'd like to share something just really amazing. I had that guitar sitting in my office by the door. I'm sure if you guys have walked by my office, you would probably see that guitar just sitting there. He saw a need, and he hadn't been playing or anything. And one day he just looked at it, and I just said, do you want to borrow it? And he lit up. He lit up. And I said, you can borrow the guitar. I told him this, I give you one month to borrow the guitar. And I said, because I was going to use it, but you can borrow it for one month. Literally in two days, he took it over there in the children's area and started learning music in two days. And I said, start learning chords. Two days he was playing music. He filled a need. He saw a need. We have to be the encouragers for our children. He is now playing chords, he's playing songs, and he is a worship leader to these children. He is our future worship leader. And that guitar now belongs to him.

I don't have a need for that guitar. That guitar belongs to him. I'm so proud of you, because he saw a need and he has a calling. This is his calling. He's a worship leader, amen? Who has some anointing oil? Bring some up. There's an anointing this young man has, and we're going to recognize that anointing today. Angel, you want to come up too? Is Armando here? Raven? Pastor Al? Can you come up? We use oil because when we read the Old Testament, we see that many times when a king or a prophet, they were anointed with oil. So if we could just, you guys can extend your hand out. Lord God, I thank you for all this, Lord. And it is evident, Lord God, that you have given them a spirit of worship. I pray, Lord God, in the name of Jesus, from this moment on, that there will be a fire inside of him to want to shout on the rooftops to worship you, Lord God. We know that it is a great anointing, Lord God. Your great King David started as a worship singer, Lord God, out with the sheep, Lord God. And to this day, we still read his psalms. I pray for many new songs to come forth from this young man, that he won't sing songs from others, that you will give him songs in his heart, Lord God, and new riffs and new melodies, Lord God. It will come from him in visions and in dreams, Lord God, that he will seek after you, Lord God, that he will worship you all the days of his life, Lord God. We thank you, Lord God, of what you are doing in this young man, Lord God.

Bless him, lead him, guide him, strengthen him, surround him, Lord God. And that when he worships, let it sound like angels around him that are worshiping along as a choir. We thank you, Lord. all right all right you guys ready yeah all right all right uh just uh 28 verse 1 and then i'm just going to read to uh matthew 28 1 verse 1 through verse 10 okay it says right here here we go the resurrection now after the sabbath towards the dawn for the first day of the week mary madeline and the other mary went to see the tomb and behold there was a great earthquake for an angel of the lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it his appearance was lightning and his clothing was white as snow and and for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men but the angel said to the woman do not be afraid for i know that you see jesus who was crucified he's not here for he has risen and he said come see the place where he lay then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead and behold he is going before you to galilee there you will see him see i have told you so they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy and ran to tell his disciples and behold jesus met them and said greetings they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him then jesus said to them do not be afraid go and tell my brothers to to go to galilee and there you will see me and that's the whole thing of matthew 28 verse 1 through 10 all right and then there's one last I want to say before I go. I know it's pretty short. I mean at least I got something though It says right here praise Be to God it says right here our Lord Jesus Christ. He has defeated death Hell and the grave Yeah And Then it says we're here and because he lives your past is forgiven amen Because he lives your future is secure Because he lives no grace can hold you down Amen okay, so church, let's see this out loud all right. He is risen He is alive All right, that's it And because he lives we shall live also amen and amen Amen God bless Lord God, I thank you so much. I thank you for what you're doing in his life

I pray that you ignite him even more and a hunger more Lord God that when he wakes up He wants to read your word that when he goes asleep He falls asleep reading your word give him visions and dreams because you speak to your prophets and visions and dreams Lord I thank you for his baptismal this morning Lord. Believe it and obey it in Jesus name Amen all right I wanted to thank those that were here for communion service on Thursday and those that Experienced the Good Friday service on Friday if you didn't make it You got to see it next year. You got to experience it next year But today wouldn't be as good as it is Unfortunately, you don't know a good day unless you've had a bad day. You don't know a perfect weather unless you've lived through a storm, correct Well We do know that according to the Word according to life that death ruled over everything Death is a person Death is a being and according to the Word Word of God, death has desires. In the same way you desire something to eat, you desire a relationship or friendship in the same way. And first of all, Lord God, I thank you for this opportunity, Lord. I pray, Lord God, that I speak your word in a way that you gave it to me, that I make it concise, clear, and powerful. You were the senior pastor of this church, and this pulpit will always belong to you. We thank you in Jesus' name, amen. Death has desires, and that's why it's not a joke. For those of you that come, especially out of a Latino culture, many worship Santa Muerte, or what you would call the grim reaper, and you see them, if you go to the flea market, you see them ugly little statues.

And it's not a joke, because death is real. Death is a demon. That's the honest truth. And all the way time, from the time of Adam and Eve, all the way through, because of the fall of Adam, death took control and dominion of this world. Adam and Eve were never supposed to die. But the moment they fell, and they ate of the fruit that they weren't supposed to, they fell in disobedience, and the moment that happened, death came upon them. They didn't die immediately, but death began. Many of us, I hope you realize, the moment you took your first breath, you started to die. I go to the grocery store, and I see beautiful fruit. It looks nice and shiny and polished, but in all honesty, all of that is dead fruit. It looks nice for a time, but the moment you pull that orange, or the moment you pull that apple off the tree, it begins to die, because it's no longer attached to the branch. And the same time, when we take our first breath, they cut the umbilical cord, and you start to breathe. And even though we live for what seems long to us, those of us that live 20, 30, 40, 50, 100 years, but in essence, in the span of all eternity, we began to die. We were a fruit that was plucked, and death begins. It is real.

In Proverbs chapter 27, in Proverbs chapter 27, verse 20, it says this. It says sheol, sheol is an old word that means the grave. That's all it means. It means the grave. Proverbs 27, 20. And sheol and abaddon are never satisfied. Think about that. The grave is never satisfied, even though millions of people have died, the grave is not satisfied, because it wants you and me too. It's never satisfied. Millions have died in World War I. Millions have died in World War II. Millions have died during so many revolutions, so many famines, so many diseases, so many things, and you would think at one point, death would say and the grave would say, that's enough, I'm full. But the Bible says that the grave is never satisfied. That's wild. You pass by a cemetery and it's full of people, but it is not satisfied because it wants you and me too. Ever since the fall, death is not satisfied. Hell is not satisfied. The grave is not satisfied. In Habakkuk chapter two, verse five, there's another verse I wanna share with you. Habakkuk, it's a really small book.

It's one of the minor prophets, but in chapter two, verse five, it says this. It says, moreover, wine is a traitor. An arrogant man who was never at rest. That's a whole different sermon, but just for those of you that are gonna go and barbecue and get drunk. I don't know who I'm talking to. It says wine is a traitor. You know what a traitor is? Somebody that does something behind your back. Anyways, that's a whole other message. Maybe next week. Next week. Wine is a traitor, an arrogant man who was never at rest. His greed, talking about this, is as wide as Sheol. There's that word again. Sheol is as wide as the grave. Like death, he is never enough. Your destruction ain't enough. do worse and death gathers for himself all nations and collects as his own all people because of the fall of Adam and Eve because Adam had dominion but the dominion got ripped away from Adam now death had dominion death was the king of this world death was reigning and because of that he's like man I want all nations I don't want just want you and you I want all of you I want all of you I want all of you he gathers for himself all nations and collects there's a movie Predator with Arnold long time ago and that alien would go to different planets to hunt and collect skulls and in the same way death goes and wants to collect our skull and he's greedy and wants to destroy and I know some of you are like this doesn't sound like an Easter sermon yeah we're a little different here Romans chapter 5 verse 14 is establishing

exactly what I said because I want to establish everything that I say in scripture I'm not going to be here and just give my opinion or give my thoughts or give whatever it is everything we're going to talk about is in scripture and what the bible says because the word of God is way beyond my capacity of thinking but in Romans 5 14 it says everything that that I've been saying it says yet death remember death is a person death is a being death reigned like a king that reigns now says Jesus reigns death reigned from Adam all the way to Moses even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam what does that mean even though we weren't there in the garden of Eden even though we didn't eat from the fruit even though it says regardless even if you didn't sin like that death still reigned over you and those are the part where we go yeah thanks Adam and even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam who was a type of the one who was to come mankind was utterly lost depraved and on the road to eternal destruction it's like it's like getting on a freeway that they're working on I remember years years ago when I was a child highway 4 in Stockton it never completed from 5 to 99 the way it does now those of you that are young you thought that freeway was always there how many of you remember when it wasn't there anybody okay that freeway would end like around California street or so so if you were driving on that freeway and you didn't exit you were gonna fall right off that thing and all mankind was on a freeway where there was no end and it was destruction we were lost depraved and on a road to eternal destruction death reigned there's an interesting poem that I want to read that I found and it's called the quiet clock the quiet clock it says the clock does not pause to ask me why nor waits for tear-stained a slow goodbye it ticks the seconds steady deep to guide me to a silent sleep the hand that I hold the hand that I hold must let me go though love still blooms the roots must slow the heavy shroud of winter's breath is but the certainty of death it comes as twilight steals the light and turns the joyous day to night no bargain made no plea will stand against the shifting of the sand so take this breath this fleeting spark before I wander in the dark and let me fade a silent sound beneath the cold and silent ground but the story doesn't end there does it the story doesn't end there and that's why we rejoice every single year that's why churches around the world get together on resurrection sunday because at one point from adam death trained, but we know what happened.

Matter of fact, it's in the book of Isaiah, chapter 25, verse 6 and 8. You can write it down. I just want to get through this. So you can write it down and read it later, but in Isaiah 25, 6 and 8, look at what it says. It says, On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, a rich food full of marrow, of aged wine, well refined. And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples. Oh, so death reigned, but there was, it's like God was whispering, saying death ain't always going to reign. It's like the Lord is whispering to the prophets in the dreams. Hey, go to sleep. Hey, the day is coming. I know death reigns, but the day is coming. When this covering of death that covers over my people, over my creation, I will swallow up this mountain, the covering that is cast over all people, the veil that is spread over all the nations. It's like God was whispering it. In verse 8, he says, And he will swallow up death forever. And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces. And the reproach of his people, reproach means the guilt. And the guilt of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken. So even though death reigned, even though death had its due, and it was sitting on the throne, the whisper, you start seeing it in the book of Isaiah. You start hearing it in the whispers of Habakkuk. You start hearing it in the whispers of Daniel. Matter of fact, in 1 Corinthians 15, 55, it was so bold to say, Oh, death, where's your victory? Oh, death, where is your sting? As we read through the scriptures, it's like you could get a glimpse of the Lord taunting death. How many of you had a little brother? And when you got in trouble, right, and you're getting yelled at, that's your little brother? When you're getting yelled at, your little brother would be on the side where mom and dad can't see him, ha, ha, ha.

Or sister. You're getting about to get whipped, and your little brother, little sister, ha, ha, ha. Thanks, angel. God was taunting death, challenging death, confronting death. You gotta understand, this was unheard of. How does one fight death if death always wins? Mankind, we can win wars. We can win all kinds of things. We conquer things. We take over lands and take over nations, but ultimately, the one thing mankind could never defeat was death. It could never be defeated, and God is saying, Man, I'm about to challenge that. I'm about to confront that. Matter of fact, in Hosea chapter 13, verse 14, he says, the Lord says, I shall ransom them from the power of Sheol. Remember, Sheol means the grave, and God, look at what he says. This was hundreds of years before he came and walked on this earth. I will ransom them. I will give something in order to pull them all out of the grave. I shall redeem them from death. Death is a person. Death is a being. God is basically saying, I'm going to give a ransom, and I'm going to take my people back. Then it says, Oh, death, where are your plagues? Oh, Sheol, your grave, where is your sting? Compassion is hidden from my eyes. We see that when Jesus steps on the scene, it's like there's an authority shift. All of a sudden, there's a new sheriff in town, and death doesn't understand it. Death does not understand it.

Matter of fact, the Bible says that darkness saw the light and couldn't comprehend it. In Hebrews chapter 2, verse 14, it says, Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself partook of the same things, because we go through things. We go through hunger and tiredness and affliction and all these things. Jesus came out of his glory and came to be one of us so he can go through what we came through. In other words, he says, I don't know what it's like to be you, but I'm gonna go down to be like you Jesus came out of his glory and came to be one of us so he can go through what we came So then I can teach you how to be like me So he came and partook of the same things that through death He might destroy the one who has the power of death. That is the devil So Jesus came with his his scope his sight set on the enemy He's looking death's square in the eyes He says you have destroyed my creation all the way from the beginning since Adam and Eve and I'm about to take back what? belongs to me Revelation chapter 1 verse 18 this is in the Living One Jesus as I died and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and Hades I I know like one or two you've been locked up before because you guys are just like super innocent, right? But there's a saying on the yard that when somebody controls the yard they hold the keys to the yard In Spanish they come the Javaro The one that holds the keys a shot-caller Walks around the yard. You don't really have keys. That's what it's called. He's just a shot-caller He has the keys and death did that all since Adam and Eve walking around jingling his keys Yeah, you guys fight you guys starve you guys want to argue with each other? But no matter what you all belong to me because I have the keys of hell Listen what Jesus says I love this right because Jesus punked Satan He says I died and Behold I'm alive and I have the keys of death and Hades Jesus like yeah, give those to me because I'm the shot-caller in this place now

Second Timothy chapter 1 verse 10 This is in which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ who abolished death and brought to life And immortality to light through the gospel John 11 25 26 Jesus said to her I am the resurrection and the life whoever believes in me though He died yet shall he live and everyone who lives believes in me shall never die Do you believe this not only that Jesus rise from the dead not only that Jesus conquered death But he made a way for us to never die. Also. We are given eternal life in his presence Don't you realize when you die in Christ? You don't die you the Bible says that you close your eyes to this world and you're open your eyes in the presence of God Because death has no hold on you Death has been defeated In John 1 17 18 The Apostle John says when I saw him He saw Jesus. He says I fell at his feet as though dead But he laid his right hand on me saying fear not I'm the first and the last and the living one I died and behold I'm alive forevermore and I have the keys of death and Hades Remember death is a person death as a being right? It's not just some idea death is actually a devil and Look what it says in Revelation 20 14. It says then death and Hades Were thrown into the lake of fire I Don't know see I have a weird imagination I've seen bouncers throw people out of clubs and they grab them right here and their pants Right and they pick them up like little babies and they walk them and they chuck them to the sidewalk Now the Jesus I know is strong The Jesus I know is masculine the Jesus I know will not take no for an answer The Jesus I know when I read death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire I see Jesus say a death you reigned long enough. Let me grab you Boom, you're out of here into the lake of fire

defeated forever First Corinthians 15 16 26. This is if the dead are not raised And not even Christ has been raised And if Christ has not been raised your faith is futile and you are still in your sins So many people say atheists say why do you got to believe that Jesus rose again? Why do you got to believe because if he didn't rise again, there's no hope Then those who have also fallen asleep in Christ have perished that means those have died before us they're lost to Verse 19 says if in Christ we have hope in this life only we are all of people most to be pitted in other words We are saying if Jesus didn't rise again, then we are wasting our time and we're wasting our breath, wasting our time worshiping, wasting our time praying, we're wasting our time preaching, wasting our time evangelizing, wasting our time everything. But if he did rise again, which he did, then all of it counts for something because it means eternal life. This last scripture I wanna share. In 1 Corinthians 15, 20 through 26. 1 Corinthians 15, 20 to 26, it says this. But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead and the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as an Adam, everyone dies. So also in Christ shall all be made alive. Do you realize that Jesus came to be the second Adam because the first one fumbled it. And Jesus says, I'm coming as a second Adam and I'm gonna undo everything that the first Adam did. Matter of fact, I'm gonna start there

and live a sinless life, be holy, and I'm going to defeat death and I'm taking all authority back. In verse 24 says, then comes the end when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he, Jesus, must reign until all has been put, till he has put all his enemies under his feet. And look at this, this is the clenching. Verse 26 says, the last enemy to be destroyed is death. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. If you were here for Good Friday or if you recognize Good Friday, it was a sad day because we think of what happened to him on the cross. On Friday, I'll end with this. It looked like death had won. But Sunday declared, death never stood a chance. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! We're gonna have our children do something. We're gonna have an altar call of salvation after that. Are our children ready?

Or whoever, not children, but everybody's ready. Somebody gonna move this? Ah. Ah. Yeah! Ah. Ooh. Yeah. Ooh. Ooh. Ah. Ooh. Ah. Yeah. Ooh. Ah. Woo. Ah. Ooh. Ah. Ooh. Ah. Ooh. Oooh. Ooh. Ahh. Ahh. Ahhh. Ahhh.
