My Best Sermon Ever | Genesis 3
I preached on Genesis Chapter 3 in Orlando, Florida, and I think this might be the best sermon I've ever given. The fall of man. The first sin. The moment everything changed. But what most people miss is that Genesis 3 isn't just about what Adam and Eve lost. It's about what God already planned to do about it before they even took the fruit.
People think Genesis chapter 3 is just talking about the fall of man. It's talking about the gospel. Meta means you transcend Noya means your mind. Hey, you guys didn't know there's gonna be a Bible study, huh? Adam is a snitch God is telling us I gave over your flesh to Satan. Why though? So it's not anything that has to do with you It's everything that has to do with him. Amen. Amen guys. Amen My Name is Johnny Chang grew up in section 8 project housing on the east side of LA And I just wanted to share with you guys. I spent 13 years in the penitentiary from 12 to 25 and Can I share my story a little bit with you guys? Yeah. All right, if you say no too bad, okay Let's actually pull up scripture Let's go to Genesis chapter 3 These verses here helped me kind of see how the enemy was able to tempt and also kind of overtake Eve and how we're able To see to overcome Satan as well. So let's look at Genesis chapter 3 verse 1 to 3 first Verse 1 it says now the serpent was subtle Then any beast of the field which the Lord God had made and he said into the woman Yeah, hath God said you shall not eat of every tree of the garden verse 2 and the woman said into the serpent We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden But if the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden God had said you shall not eat of it Neither shall you touch it lest you die Let's stop here for a second So the enemy He starts to attack Eve Notice what he kind of it says here, right it says he's very subtle. Have you guys ever heard of? The saying the devil is in the details. He's very subtle right? It says in the Bible and he asks Eve something What does he ask her specifically when we exegete the scripture it says? Has God said? Basically did God say that right and then he's testing Eve to see what she's Saying here, right does she know the Word of God understand now? What does Eve say? Let's read it one more time here
Verse 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden God had said you shall not eat of it. Neither shall you touch it lest you die Nothing wrong with that, where's the sin in all of that? Did she sin? She's pretty accurate, right raise your hand if you guys think she what she said was accurate You know, what's funny some of you guys I can see how confident you are by your hand raising Some of you guys are like this. Some of you guys are like this. Some of you guys are like this, right? Did Eve mess up at all? Where in this scripture, where does she mess up? So let's go to Genesis chapter 2 really quickly here verse 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil thou shalt not eat of it For in the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die Sounds pretty close right? What did Eve add? Right, what did Eve add? Amen don't what? Touch it interesting But did God say that? No So right then and there in Genesis 3 4 Satan slips in No, God didn't say that you will be you know You will not surely die right for in the day that thou eatest thou shall be like gods knowing good and evil. Amen So what did satan see what did he test first above all else the knowledge of what The word amen. See the thing about jesus what's beautiful about jesus satan does the same thing to jesus Right turn these stones into bread if thou be the son of man Right. What does jesus say in my opinion? In my belief How I feel what God told me he says it is written amen Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God, right?
It is written. Do not tempt the lord your god. It is written right serve only god. Amen. Eve understood one thing She didn't understand One thing i'm, sorry That satan is always going to test identity And how Well, you know your scripture understand what i'm saying guys. That's why there's one bible 44 000 denominations. How is it that there's one bible all pointing to jesus and there's all these different interpretations? Are you guys understanding what I'm saying? God is very clear about something John 14 6 I am the way the life the truth right Jesus Christ is what we call logos in the Bible What is he John 1 14 the word was made flesh? Dwells among us. Amen. First John chapter 5 verse 7. What is it said? There are three that bear record in heaven right the father the word the Holy Ghost. Who is the word guys? Who here has a relationship with Jesus all of us right? Amen. How many times you read your Bible though? Exactly see we're I'm Asian. We're very good at math The math ain't madden I love Jesus how many times you read your Bible? Actually daily Understand guys right Satan understands one thing If this person does not have the sword, which is the word How can he defend himself or she defend herself? Simple answer you can't understand what I'm saying brothers and sisters, right? So Let's continue Genesis chapter 3 verse 5 For God doth know that in the day you eat thereof Then your eyes shall be opened and you shall be as God's knowing good and evil Interesting. So what did I say? How does Satan attack us two ways? What's the first way? Now that's all I heard What is it? Identity amen and what else? Scripture right so Knowledge right on scripture and identity. Well, let's look here one more time
How is he attacking their identity for God does know that in the day you eat thereof Then your eyes shall be opened and you shall be as God's knowing good and evil What's the problem here guys? Think about this. He's telling them that they will be like God's Amen, but the issue here is Eve right She doesn't know scripture. How? Let's look at Genesis chapter 1 verse 26 So remember Satan attacks identity So remember Satan attacks identity Scripture tells us our identity But Eve didn't know it, right? So let's look Genesis 1 26 and God said let us make man in our image after our likeness And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air over the cattle over all the earth And over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth We're gonna learn a little bit of Hebrew here, right? So Elohim is plural right three and one understand guys Okay, echad means one So Adam and Havah, which is Eve are one understand What does he say? Let us make them in our image Who is speaking here? God, right? Elohim, right? God, Adonai, Yahweh He's saying I'm gonna make them in my image Like God already understand But what does Satan do? He tricked them They're already like God's Do you understand what I'm saying? He tricked them, but she didn't know scripture
So she started to reach for something that was already hers He was teaching her unbelief Do you guys understand what I'm saying? Right? Mixing the identity Are you guys understanding? Very deep, right? We have to understand something guys If I was Eve This is what I would have said to Satan Oh, so if I eat this, I'll be like God, why don't you eat it? Amen? Do you guys understand? Why don't you eat it? Because don't you want to be God? Amen? Eve did not know the word, the scripture Understand? So that's why she sat there and she reached for something That was already hers Amen? She could have easily said I'm not gonna talk to you Let me go ask my husband I'm not gonna talk to you Let me go talk to Yeshua Let me talk to God But what did she do? She saw with her eyes That it was good to her
In her opinion, in her sight And we walk by faith, not by sight, right? She was able to see it and go Wow, this is amazing When she ate the fruit, her eyes were open She became spiritually blind, actually Amen? That's how Satan works in all of us today Johnny Chang, you're a gang member He tells me that You did 13 years You went to California Youth Authority Right? Juvenile murder, all that You're evil You can't do it. Just me? Does any attack you guys like that too? Oh, what, you call yourself a Christian? God's not telling you that. Understand what I'm saying? Right? But Satan is telling us every day, one thought, two thoughts, 10 thoughts, 30 thoughts, 100 thoughts, you're nothing. You can't do anything. You're horrible. Look at your past. Jesus is like, hello, I died for your past. Amen? Past, present, future, sin's all washed.
Amen? Amen. Amen. So the true sin, guys, is not an action. True sin, John 16, verse nine, I want you guys to turn to John 16, verse nine, is unbelief of sin because they believe not unto me. You guys see that, right? It's red lettering. Who's speaking here? Jesus is saying, according to sin, pertaining to sin, because they don't believe in me. Amen? A lot of us claim, right? Yes, we believe in Jesus. But what people don't realize is knowing Jesus and believing in Jesus, two different things. Understand? So when I was in prison, we had a program, right? And we would do, it's New Year's, so we would have our New Year's resolution. Now, California prison is very political, segregated by race, right? Asians went with the Asians, blacks, blacks, whites, whites, Mexicans, Mexicans, okay? And so we would have our sellies or bunkies keep us accountable. So if I wrote something down, right, because we're all about our word, right, especially gang members, we have to keep that promise.
And our bunkies or sellies would keep us accountable. So I would sit there and I would be like, all right, New Year, new me, right? I'm gonna do 10 by 10 by 10 burpees and my program and all that, right? And I would promise, all right, I'm gonna do this in front of my homie and he would keep me accountable, right? And I would have 10 things on that list. Have you guys ever had like a New Year's resolution list? And when you're writing it, aren't you passionate? Yeah, I'm gonna do this, I love this. New year, new me, right? But then the next year, how many do you really do out of the 10, be honest? This girl said zero, right? Sheesh, at least one. So I would do like seven out of the 10. And then the consequences was you would get DP'd, which means you would get beat up, disciplined, right? That's how it was in California. If you don't keep your word, big problem, right? And so I would get DP'd almost every year and be like, you know what? I'm just not gonna do a New Year's resolution. I was able to see that my feelings deceived me. Yes, I trusted myself, I wanna do something, but my heart changes every day, as the Bible says. Our thoughts change every day. The word of God, however, never changes, amen?
I was able to see that, wow, Satan, he wants us to follow our thoughts and our feelings, why? So that we can live like a rollercoaster. Happy, sad, happy, sad, up and down, up and down, sin, repent, sin, repent, sin, repent. Do you guys understand what I'm saying, right? God says, Proverbs 3, 5 and 6, lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways, acknowledge God. Lean not on your what? Own understanding, amen? But Satan tells you, in the mantra of the world is what, guys, follow your what, follow your heart. Believe in who? Yourself, deep, right? Why? Because Satan knows, I don't need to drag you to hell, I just need to distract you from heaven, understand what I'm saying? By trusting and following yourself, you guys got that? So Genesis 3 is very clear about something here. He made Eve question her identity. In the same way, brothers and sisters, he's making you guys question your identity in Christ as well. You call yourself a Christian, that's what he says to you. Right? You think you're a good person, look at what you do. If God was in front of you, would he be happy? Listen, guys, when God is angry,
I don't know if you guys read the Bible, I've read the Bible front to back 26 times, when God is angry, he just takes you out, understand? He doesn't sit there and go, oh, come over here, to take you out, right? All the wrath that he placed, that he was supposed to place onto you, who did he place it onto? Yeshua, Mashiach, amen? He placed it onto him, and what? Crucified him on the cross, and what did Jesus say on the cross, guys? It is finished, tetetlestai. When you look at that Koni Greek word, it means a debt is paid. Interesting. A debt is paid. paid it's a war cry do you guys understand what i'm saying right it's a war cry oh jesus you finished it all understand but what does satan do to us makes us look at ourselves understand what i'm saying when i look at myself i have sinned when i look at my when i think of myself sinner feel sinner but when you look at the word of jesus christ what does it say let's look at hebrews chapter 10 verse 14 really quickly for by one offering he has perfected forever them that are sanctified amen let's break this down exegetically four by one offering who's this one offering jesus right perfected is in what tense past tense what does that mean done right forever means what forever means forever is crazy i thought i was a convict here right forever forever means forever forever means eternity amen eternity right guys so that means perfected temporarily forever through who your obedience your good works your diligence right your passion your routine no through jesus christ understand what i'm saying and it says them that are sanctified right you so that means made holy but the issue here is what does satan do
creeps in and how does he work by telling us the same thing he tells eve you perfect come on bro johnny chen you got a demon on your neck teardrop on your face you perfect are you kidding me right during those times we cannot amen satan understand guys we cannot say yes satan that's how i feel i am that no we gotta go to the word and says although satan says this my thoughts say this what does the word of god tell us understand right so let's go back to genesis chapter 3 and let's go to verse 8 so after adam and eve ate the fruit what happens this is what the unlock here is genesis 3 8 and they heard the voice of the lord god walking in the garden in the cool of the day and adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the lord god amongst the trees of the garden what did they do after they sinned hid themselves amen and then what does it say here the voice of the lord did you guys catch that the voice of the lord you guys are just looking at me like dead fish the voice of the lord guys voice of the lord when you look at it in hebrew it means the word the word of the lord who did we say was the word of god yeshua amen pre-incarnate when you look at the scripture in the original lexicon it teaches us jesus is right here so when they sinned and they hid rather than god running away from there what did god do what did yeshua do what did the voice and the word of god do he walked towards them amen that's what jesus does for us although i sinned and i did things that are unspeakable right caused me to be a two-strike felon caused me to be cautious jesus the whole world ran away from me the whole world pushed me away just like the brothers and you know here right but what did jesus do he walked towards us amen amen guys that's what jesus does when we sin he says hey it's okay your blemishes that's the reason why i'm here for you guys so if you're feeling that loneliness and that depression that you guys have that weight on your shoulders that you feel you can't stand in front of god take it from us and everybody else up here that you don't need to clean yourself up to come to god right you meet jesus and he cleans you up amen amen guys amen so satan tells us you've sinned and you're disqualified god doesn't care about you but what does god say no because you're sinned right and even though you're unqualified i qualified the unqualified amen amen that's what god tells us guys let's go to genesis 3 9 to 11 oh yeah you guys didn't know there's gonna be a bible study huh yeah we gotta get in our word guys If you're not in your word, you're in your what?
Feelings, amen, right? We gotta be in our word, all right? Genesis three, verse nine. And the Lord God called unto Adam and said unto him, where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked and I hid myself. And he said, who told you that you were naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12, and the man said, the woman whom thou gavest to me, she gave me the tree and I did eat. Sheesh, Adam is a snitch, huh? Straight up, though. Straight up, just, I gotta check his paperwork, bro. He sat here like, the girl, what? All right, let's continue here, let's see. Verse 13, and the Lord God said unto the woman, what is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, the serpent beguiled me and I did eat. Let's stop here. God is asking Adam, where art thou? Where are you? If you think about this, right? God is omniscient, he's omnipotent. You guys know what that means? He's everywhere all the time. He knows everything all the time. Why would he sit there and go, where are you, Adam? What is he doing, hide and seek with Adam?
He understands, right? But he's trying to show Adam something, right? Where are you, Adam? Adam started to see that when I ate the fruit, what happened? He started to hide. He started to act weird, as we say in the streets. He started to walk different, right? He was moving different. God wanted Adam to see the chain of command here, the level of deception. So he goes to Adam, Adam says it's his wife. He then goes to the wife and the wife says it's Satan. Understand? That's the chain of command, okay? Now, let's continue here. Let's go to verse 14. And let's see something that God says in very peculiar here. 14 says, and the Lord God said unto the serpent, because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle and above every beast of the field. Upon the belly thou shalt go, and thus shalt thou eat all the days of your life. Now notice the order of judgment. He goes to Adam first. Adam snitches on Eve, right? Eve then tells, right, the truth about Satan. He beguiled her, right?
And then notice how he doesn't go, I curse you, Adam, and then I curse you, Eve. What does he say? Read it carefully again with me. And the Lord said unto the serpent, because thou hast done this. Did the serpent eat from the tree? But he's saying he did it. Why? Because he's deceiving them. Understand what I'm saying, guys? He wanted Adam and Eve to see something. Wow, the enemy is deceiving you guys and you don't even realize it. Understand what I'm saying? Satan makes us take ownership for something that's not our own. Understand what I'm saying? That's his biggest power, guys. And so he's showing them, you didn't eat the fruit. It's not you that I'm worried about, right? I already know that this is gonna happen. He's God. And he starts to curse Satan. But look at how he curses him, though. It says, on your belly, what does it say? On your belly thou shall go and dust shalt thou eat all the days of your life. Interesting. How come he's not like, you know, I don't like veggies.
So if I was me, I would have been like, you know, you gotta eat veggies, kale, right? You gotta eat like, you know, I don't know, pumpkin, right? Just whatever stuff that I like, okay? All right? Why does he say specifically dust? Let's think about this. Kafar, afar, in Hebrew, it means ashes. So it's really ash of the earth, right? Now, what are we made out of, guys? Amen, right? Our flesh, do you guys understand? And in Genesis 3, 17, he says, cursed is the ground for your sake. That's why we die, understand? Because what are we made out of? Dirt, amen? So what does Satan feed off of, guys? Our flesh, understand what I'm saying now? So that's why it's almost impossible for us to get out of our sins. Do you guys, have you recognized that? Okay, today I'm gonna try and stop sinning. It's like me saying today, I'm not gonna be Chinese anymore. Why are you guys laughing? If I open my eyes a little bit. Yo, some of y'all laughing a little too hard, eh? What? Just kidding.
But, so imagine that, right? God is telling us, you can't do it. I gave over your flesh to Satan, why though? Why? I don't know about you guys, okay? but When I was when I was making forty fifty thousand dollars a month Trapping stepping on bricks all that other stuff right now. I was at a penthouse at a BMW I wasn't singing hallelujah to God right. I was away from God. I was far from God. I was active in the streets I was making my money I was sinning however, I wanted to right, but it wasn't until I fell into this deep depression I fell into my friend dying in my arms right being shot to death when I fell into this Survivors guilt and coming to the rock bottom, right? That's when I realized. Oh my gosh There's more there's got to be more to life than this to see homies die funeral after funeral after funeral Same people that look like me smoking each other back and forth all these crazy things happening in Los Angeles, right? And I was able to see oh I can't do anything that's where God Met me Amen in the same way guys. Why do you guys struggle with your sin? Why do you guys why does God allow trials and tribulations? Why does he allow Satan to pester and have that thorn on our side because that's what keeps us close to God. Amen Amen, right. So when people sit there and they say I don't want to struggle anymore. I don't want to have sin anymore I don't want to have this depression and this loneliness and these things that you know, I can't overcome That's the same as saying I don't want to be near God anymore Amen guys, cuz pain equates to failure. Nobody likes to fail but being honest here guys. What do you learn from success? Nothing when you fail that's when you start to learn. Oh, I can't be doing that I got a move a little bit different right so failure equates to growth, but failure is painful Would you guys agree? Right. So saying I don't want to face pain anymore is like saying I don't want to grow anymore Understand what I'm saying? God is not gonna allow that So he's showing us that Satan eats on our flesh feeds on our depression feeds on our anxiety Feeds on our loneliness feeds on us our lust he feeds on the right the fruits of the flesh
But that's why God says we are to look to what the spirit understand what I'm saying carnally minded is death now I'm gonna explain Clearly what God is saying about this right Genesis chapter 3. Let's look at verse 21 here. So when Adam and Eve sinned they ran from God They clothe themselves with fig leaves which represents works right cursed is the fig tree Right because it didn't produce fruit who is the fruit in Luke 141 that hung on the cross Jesus Christ, right? So they wanted to produce works without Jesus at the center you guys understanding That's why the fig leaves are very very deep here, right? They represent works So when we look at Genesis 3 21 unto Adam also unto his wife Did the Lord God make coats of skins and clothed them who clothed them after they said? God amen, they try to clothe themselves. But what happened? when it hits the Sun which is representative of God's glory It whittles away Understand you guys ever try to make, you know clothes out of you know Garb not not garments, but like plants and stuff like that, right if you did you're weird, okay But if you didn't just think about it a little bit, right? Legit you can't do it, right? It's it's just not it's not gonna be it's gonna be weird Okay, but in front of God, there's something that had to die Had to be sacrificed and then covered us People think Genesis chapter 3 is just talking about the fall of man. It's talking about the gospel Are you guys understanding even in the Old Testament? You following me here. You have to search for Jesus in every line. That's how you get the unlocks. Amen Amen so God is telling us right he did it all what did he clothe them with coats of skin but Isaiah 61 verse 10 Let's go to that. It's very very detailed what he's actually clothing us in I will greatly rejoice in the Lord. My soul shall be joyful in my God for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness As a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels What did the Lord clothe us with?
Robes of salvation and robes of what? Righteousness amen why because if we could clothe ourselves in righteousness If we can overcome everything, why would we need Jesus Christ the righteous one? We wouldn't understand what I'm saying guys. God allows us to live up and down He allows us to kind of fall away because the righteous fall seven times and gets back up in Proverbs, right? Why does he allow that? because us to recognize oh we're nothing but dirt you guys understand what i'm saying we're created out of dirt the lowest substance nothingness right anybody get happy when dirt gets on your shoulder like wow thank you so much wow love being dirty no right when you dirt hits your shirt you're like oh man my bad guy it ruins your whole night right in the same way though god could have created us at a diamond gold silver why not because dirt although it's low stepped on spat on right pooped on peed on right disregarded undervalued when you plant the seed which is the word of god it produces life amen amen that's why god created us out of dirt brothers and sisters right god wants us to recognize something oh i'm a person who if i'm nothing if i'm just dirt then you are naturally going to be humble you'll naturally be you know have humility amen that's the one thing that i always remind myself right all you guys lining up johnny chang johnny chang right easily satan whispers in my ear dang you did good bro you came from the san gabriel valley you were on section eight project housing you're a person who man you're an amazing human being and right then and there i have to check myself i'm just the donkey that jesus is riding on understand what i'm saying hosanna hosanna hosanna amen but satan wants us to be god replacing god creation moving into creator that's called blasphemy understand what i'm saying god wants us to realize you're nothing you're only where you're at brothers and sisters because of jesus christ amen amen amen so i'm gonna finish with this do you guys know the story of the wedding at canna where jesus turns water into wine where your husband argues with you ladies that he could drink that story right that is not what the message of that is okay so repent all right all right but let me give you what jesus was actually teaching in this story very simply okay and we're going to practice metanoia metanoia metanoia in coney greek means repentance true biblical repentance okay all right so let's look uh at hebrews chapter 10 really quickly
and just keep it at 14 don't read it yet so at the wedding at canna there are six water pots right in the front and they're filled with what water agua right water right so jesus says after they fill it up draw and serve interesting they're at a wedding right and they need wine i don't know about you guys but if i was a servant i'd raise my hand right uh jesus i'm sorry but i know they're drunk um but they're not drunk enough to not be able to tell the difference between water and wine understand because they see it as water touch it as water it's in six water pots but what is jesus saying it's wine right now let me ask you guys something who's right jesus it became what the best tasting wine amen now what do the servants gotta do number one in order to witness the miracle they had to throw away what they saw throw away what they felt throw away all their experiences understand what i'm saying and accept the word of god exactly as it is and move forward with it understand guys metanoia is comprised of two words it means repentance meta means you transcend noia means your mind now mind is your thoughts and your feelings connected okay so in order to repent what must you do you have to go above and beyond your thoughts your feelings your emotions all of that and go back to the word of god are you following me here so let's look at this scripture really quickly here first and foremost who here is perfect all righty no wonder they call us a cult they say people over here like i'm perfect some of y'all like this right but let's read the scripture here right hebrews 10 14 for by one offering he has perfected forever them that are sanctified interesting so jesus christ through apostle paul and also luke who wrote hebrews as well they're saying right that you guys are perfected forever but your thoughts tell you what i'm a sinner Your feelings tell you what? I sin every day. Understand? You guys are probably sinning over here. Oh my gosh, hurry up, babe. We're gonna be late. What the faith? Right? Right? Like, what are you doing? And then when you end up here, hallelujah! Your girl's just side-eyeing you, like... Right? Right? What I'm saying, guys, is... The Bible says one thing.
Our thoughts and our feelings say another. Who's right? The Bible. So Jesus is saying you're perfected forever. Holy, sanctified, justified. Right? Can you then say that you trust Jesus if you claim something that's opposite of what Jesus is saying? No. Now, without faith, it is what? Impossible to what? Please, God. Calling yourself a sinner, does it take faith? I just gotta look at myself in the mirror. Oh yeah, I'm a sinner. Right? But to call yourself perfected forever, how much faith do you guys think that takes? A lot, right? Amen? Right? If you go outside right now, especially us here, and we tell our families, mom and dad, I'm perfect forever, they're gonna be like, what? Are you crazy, Johnny? My homies did that. When I went out, I was like, hey guys, I'm perfected through Jesus forever. They're like, if you're perfect, we're perfect too. Shoot. Right? So I want you guys to understand something, though. Is the word of God right, or are your thoughts right? The word. Right? This is why we have to trust the word. That is what believing Jesus is. What is unbelief, guys?
And what is sin, guys? Unbelief. Right? So meaning, I don't trust the word of God, I trust my thoughts above the word of God. Right? That's what sin actually is. And that's how people start to sin. So let's say we get saved. Why then do you fall into your sins again? Because of unbelief. What do you mean? 2 Corinthians 5.17 says, Those who are in Christ have been made a what? New creature. All the old has passed. Behold, everything is new. Amen? But then Satan comes. You're not new. Take a line of that. Bumpies. Anything is possible. Well, that was my thing. Sorry, guys. I'm leaking here a little bit. But when I think about that, if I trust that thought, then it will affect how I feel. Because addictive thought leads to addictive feelings, leads to what? Addictive behavior. Understand, guys? It doesn't just start at the behavior, brothers and sisters. So your thought influences the way you feel,
the way you feel, behavior. People try to fix it at the behavior. They're not understanding it has to be fixed at the root, which is trusting your thoughts. Understand, guys? So today Jesus wants us to recognize something. My thoughts are not your thoughts. Isaiah 55 verse 8. My way is not your way. You say that you're a sinner, but Jesus Christ calls you what? Perfected. We'll read one more verse and we'll finish here. 2 more verses and we'll finish here. 1 Corinthians 6.9-10. Let's read it carefully here. Read it with me, guys, please. Know you not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Be not deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God. Boom. And they close the Bible. So you guys need to stop sinning. If you guys are drinking, you need to stop doing that. During that time,
what I say is, guys, please open up your Bible again. Just one more verse. Just one more verse afterwards. Let's read verse 11. And such were some of you, but you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. Let me break this down. Amen. Break this down. I love the word but. Single T, okay? Single T, but, okay? I love this word because what does it do? It negates everything in front of it. Amen? So let's say, right? Married couples, any married couples in here? You guys? Okay. So let's say, bro, you sit there. You're like, baby, I love you. You're the best wife in the world. You're so biblically literate because you listen to Johnny Chang, right?
You're amazing. You raise our children so well, but I want a divorce. right does it matter that she's biblically literate amazing etc etc no right cuz it negates everything right that's when she gets the chanclet to the face right right so so in the same way look at how God is saying it yeah such were some of you of course we all fall short of the glory of God of course but right but God understand what does it say here but you are what washed what tense is washed in past tense right meaning already done good but you are sanctified sanctified means what the process of being made holy sanctified means what made holy through who right but you are justified justified means what righteous just already understand what I'm saying because of your good works because you're obedient because you did really well and you pray you tithe and you fast and you preach the gospel so amazingly well is that what it says no it says in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God amen so it's not anything that has to do with you it's everything that has to do with him amen amen guys amen this is the precious gospel brothers and sisters not I try harder you know a lot of us think Christianity is I die for God use me and mean me here I am amen it is but here's the thing guys Christianity is not me dying for God Christianity is God dying for me amen that's what Christianity is brothers and sisters it's not you trying harder doing better you can't you need Jesus Christ through his precious blood and the Holy Spirit to make us righteous holy sanctified and justified amen amen now raise your hand if you guys are perfected through Jesus righteous through Jesus sheesh let's go amen amen amen amen hallelujah amen this is what it means to believe in Jesus Christ okay guys preach this gospel to people don't condemn them look at your children and go hey you're righteous you're holy you're sanctified and it's okay your sins your addiction your problems are
