How To Overcome Guilt and Shame
In this video, I traveled to Orlando to host a free event to share the gospel. We made care packages for the homeless, and got to connect with the community. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible!
We've been through a car accident and I killed someone. You know what's beautiful? Although you went through all of those things, right? You didn't allow the guilt to overcome you. You're still right here listening to The Possible. Thank you, thank you, yes. Welcome to Universal Studios Orlando. It's changed my whole entire life. It's changed my whole entire life. That's the epitome of what I don't like about roller coasters. No, you have to do it. You're Chicken Boy over here, Chicken Boy doesn't exist. Chicken Boy and Chicken Girl. We're all going to pick a roller coaster, and then whoever lands on it, everybody has to do it, including Jeff, whose knees are buckling. All right? All right. Everyone, all right. All right? We got you on camera. We got a big, tough gang member over here. Big, tough gang member right here to ride a roller coaster, guys. I'm super scared. I swear to God. You don't seem like it. You're always forcing everybody. He's like, guys, I'm scared. I'm scared, trust me. I'm so scared.
I'm so scared. Roller coasters are scary to me, but we have to do it for the video. Tell me this. How good is the video if we go, and it's like, oh, these are scary. Let's not get on them. It'd be great. They'd be like, he's so real. Good morning. Johnny, what's going on? What's good? All right, let's head in there. Universal! What is this? What is this? Explain that. So right now, actually, I don't have to do a single thing, and my device is still catching Pokemon for me. I just wanted to make sure I came prepared today. That's a full-grown adult, by the way. 30 in February. All right, y'all, what's up? Johnny Chang, you already know. We're here with the team, and we're in Orlando. We're at Universal Studios. We have our team that's forcing me to go on roller coasters today, so it's very, very difficult. I don't want to, but, you know, it's all about heart gaining, guys. What's the first one you guys want to ride? The scariest one. No, the smallest one.
Yeah. The smallest one? Yeah. Lazy River. Lazy River. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Here's how we're going to do it. You're going to throw out a one or a two. The person that's the odd man out gets to pick. We're going to do the scariest one if it lands on me. No, no, no, no, no, no. All right, on the count of three. Whoever wins picks the ride. Picks the ride. And we all have to go. We all have to go. All right, all right, all right, all right. On the count of three. One, two, three, go. One, two, three, go. Oh! Wait, what? The lady at the front said the scariest one is VelociCoaster. That's the first one we're going to do. You down? Yeah. I'm up. I'm up. What's going through your head right now? Fear.
But fear is not from God. No. It is from the devil, but he's working. That boy is taking over. That boy infiltrated my mind. The devil is alive. The devil is alive. Oh, snap. Yo! Nope, we're not going on that. Nope, not doing it. Nope. Help me. Save me. That was literally the craziest roller coaster ever. They were telling me that it was crazy, but I was like, nah, man, let's do it. For the gospel, right? I jump on. I regretted it instantly. Bro, it went so fast. It felt like I was going to lift out of my seat every single time. I was like, please, God, don't let me go like this. That's a one and done. Like, I don't think I would jump on it again. He was next to me. I was gagging. So it was bad, bro. We just did that. We hop off the ride, and there's literally like a 70-year-old lady with a cane. Literally.
Unfazed. Unfazed. She's like, you call that a roller coaster? This right here is pure gains. It's beef tendon and beef. I'm not training you guys correctly. When you eat with chopsticks, you have to open them first and then get the splinters out. Is that Korean? No, it doesn't. No, it doesn't. Okay. Oh, my Chinese. He's Korean. They use metal ones. Of course they're not. What are you talking about? We're the Chinese of people. Okay. So then what he said is true. Pure gains. Beef. You got to smell it first. Tongue it. Then eat it. Then spit it out because it's disgusting. Hey, how you doing? Johnny. Good to meet you. What's up, four of the heart?
We're here on vacation, and it's just crazy. We're over there, and she's like, hey, look who it is. And I'm like, man, it's Johnny Jin. It actually you helped me get a better understanding of the gospel your video and another man's video I'm gonna say his name was Louis Scott Basically opened my eyes about the gospel about the great side of things and it was yeah So it was so you've helped me a lot man. So brother. You probably appreciate you. Yeah, I just want to bless you guys You mind if I pray for you guys? Anyways, I don't want it failing I Didn't even get a chip He crushed the entire thing Whoa, you see this this dude Jesus made the cover. He's coming up. This guy's gonna be huge super popular this year Wait, look, they have the goat They have the panito, but they don't have it in glass They'll get the price six dollars for three two for five more expensive better The only waters you guys should be drinking is spring water or reverse osmosis in glass. That's glass All right microplastics is very dangerous for your body weakens your sperm. It makes your brain cells smaller. It's not good for you Don't fall for any of the other tricks
I Love it Changed my life so much It's the word it's available to everybody not like I had to be somebody special pointed out by God with these special abilities Not magic. It's just real. Thank you so much Crackhead Alcoholic eating out of trash can Can't anybody shot staff cook and I plan on dying that way but Jesus As a team we used to think like we're gonna do these after-service events and be amazing if 100 people or 200 people show up From what we heard pretty much packed out now and we still have like another hour left to doors open It really is amazing how the gospel can bring everybody together and just bridge everybody through the blood and through the forgiveness of sins for me, it's such a treat because God is really working. It's working through the congregation. He's working through core of the heart ministries. He's working through Vessels that were once thrown away in the world like that So there's convicts here ex-convicts people who are donating to the food pantry We're actually giving back to the community more than just the gospel but also Helping the homeless and loving our neighbors as ourselves if you will I'm gonna give you a scripture. Okay, Jeremiah 29 11 appreciate you brother. Thank you. God bless you I Just want to thank everybody here for showing up but more importantly, let's give a round of applause for Jesus Christ. Amen Amen So we'll go to Genesis chapter 3 verse 1 to 3 first verse 1 it says now the serpent was subtle Then any beast of the field which the Lord God had made and he said into the woman Yeah hath God said you shall not eat of every tree of the garden verse 2 and the woman said unto the serpent we may eat of The fruit of the trees of the garden but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden God had said shall not eat of it neither shall you touch it lest you die okay let's stop here for a second so the enemy he starts to attack Eve notice what he kind of it
says here right it says he's very subtle have you guys ever heard of this saying the devil is in the details he's very subtle right it says in the Bible and he asks Eve something what does he ask her specifically when we exegete the scripture it says has God said basically did God say that right and then he's testing Eve to see what she's saying here right does she know the Word of God understand now what does Eve say let's read it one more time here verse 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden God had said you shall not eat of it neither shall you touch it lest you die nothing wrong with that where's the sin in all of that did she sin she's pretty accurate right raise your hand if you guys think she what she said was accurate you know what's funny some of you guys I can see how confident you are by your hand crazy some of you guys are like this some of you guys are like this some of you guys are like this right did God did Eve mess up at all where in this scripture where does she mess up amen so let's go to Genesis chapter 2 really quickly here verse 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil thou shalt not eat of it for in the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die sounds pretty close right what did Eve add amen don't what touch it interesting right but did God say that no so right then in there in Genesis 3 for Satan slips in no God didn't say that you will be you know you will not surely die right for in the day that thou eatest thou shalt be like God's knowing good and evil amen so what did Satan see what did he test first above all else the knowledge of what the word amen see the thing about Jesus what's beautiful about Jesus Satan does the same thing to Jesus right turn these stones into bread if thou be the son of man right what does Jesus say in my opinion in my belief how I feel what God told me he says it is written amen man shall not live by bread alone or by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God right it is written do not tempt the Lord your God it is written right serve only God amen she didn't understand one thing that Satan is always gonna test identity and how well you know your scripture understand what I'm saying guys that's why there's one Bible 44,000 denominations how is it that there's one
Bible all pointing to Jesus and there's all these different interpretations are you guys understanding what I'm saying God is very clear about something right as brother Eric had mentioned John 14 6 I am the way the life the truth right Jesus Christ is what we call logos in the Bible what is he John 1 14 the word was made flesh dwelt among us amen 1st John chapter 5 verse 7 what does it say there are three that bear record in heaven right the father the word the Holy Ghost who is the word guys who here has a relationship with Jesus all of us right amen how many times you read your Bible though exactly see we're I'm Asian we're very good at math but math ain't mathing I love Jesus how many times you read your Bible um actually daily understand guys right Satan understands one thing if this person does not have the sword which is the word how can he defend himself or she defend herself simple answer you can't understand what I'm saying brothers and sisters right so let's continue Genesis chapter 3 verse 5 for God does know that in the day you eat thereof then your eyes shall be opened then you shall be as God's knowing good and evil. Interesting. So what did I say? How does Satan attack us? Two ways. What's the first way? No, no, no, no. That's all I heard. What is it? Identity. Amen. And what else? Scripture, right? So knowledge, right on scripture and identity. Well, let's look here one more time. How is he attacking their identity? For God does know that in the day you eat of it, thereof, then your eyes shall be opened and you shall be as God's knowing good and evil. What's the problem here? Hmm? What's the problem? Amen. The baby got it, right? Amen. Guys, think about this. He's telling them that they will be like God's. Amen. But the issue here is Eve, right? She doesn't know scripture. How? Let's look at Genesis chapter one, verse 26. So remember, Satan attacks identity. Scripture tells us our identity, but he didn't know it, right? So let's look at Genesis 1, 26. And God said, let us make man in our image after our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air, over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. We're going to learn a little bit of Hebrew here, right? So Elohim is plural, right? Three and one. Understand guys? Okay. Echad means one. So Adam and Havah, which is Eve are one. Understand?
So what does he say? Let us make them in our image. Who is speaking here? God, right? Elohim, my God. Okay. He's saying, I'm going to make them in my image like God already. Understand? But what does Satan do? He tricked them. They're already like God's. Do you understand what I'm saying? He tricked them, but she didn't know scripture. So she started to reach for something that was already hers, right? He was teaching her unbelief. Do you guys understand what I'm saying? Right? Mixing the identity. Are you guys understanding? Very deep, right? We have to understand something, guys. If I was Eve, this is what I would have said to Satan. Oh, so if I eat this, I'll be like, God, why don't you eat it? Amen. Do you guys understand? Why don't you eat it? Because don't you want to be God? Amen. Eve did not know the word, the scripture, understand? So that's why she sat there and she reached for something that was already hers. Amen. She could have easily said, I'm not going to talk to you. Let me go ask my husband. I'm not going to talk to you. Let me go talk to Yeshua. Let me talk to God. But what does she do? She saw with her eyes that it was good to her in her opinion, in her sight. And we walk by faith, not by sight, right? She was able to see it and go, wow, this is amazing. And when she ate the fruit, her eyes were open. She became spiritually blind, actually. Amen. That's how Satan works in all of us today. Johnny Chang, you're a gang member. He tells me that. You did 13 years. You went to California Youth Authority, right? Juvenile murder, all that. You're evil. You can't do it. Just me. Doesn't he attack you guys like that too? What you call yourself a Christian? God's not telling you that. Understand what I'm saying, right? But Satan is telling us every day, one thought, two thoughts, 10 thoughts, 30 thoughts, 100 thoughts. You're nothing. You can't do anything. You're horrible. Look at your past. Jesus is like, hello, I died for your past. Amen. Past, present, future, sins all washed. Amen. How's it going, Johnny? I consider myself as a baby Christian. I accepted Christ in January this year. Very recent in my walk and on this journey, I come from a Jewish family where they don't accept Christ. It was definitely a breaking down that I had to go through. But I guess my question is, one thing I always struggled with is smoking weed. I started when I was 13. I made that my escape to everything in life, with the struggles of growing up,
and it's kind of a two-in-one question. So whoever has any addictions or any problems, whether it's smoking weed, bumpies, whatever, sometimes when I still struggle with this, if I do end up smoking, I get the urge to pray, right? Now, do you think it's frowned upon, and can you give me like a scripture on, is it frowned upon to pray, whether you're under the influence of weed, coke, or whatever, you know, alcohol, and is it hypocritical to still struggle with these things and to share your testimony when you're dealing with these things? The fact that you struggle is proof that you're saved. Yes! If you think about it, right, when you were smoking weed back then, and you were, you know, not following Yeshua and not caring about God, you didn't feel conviction. I know I didn't. I was like, give me more, bro, that's it? I'll get mad, understand? In the same way, brother, like the fact that you're like asking this question, proof that the Holy Spirit is convicted, amen? So that's good, number one. Number two, you have to realize you have to go to God about that. Like, I can't tell you, hey, bro, hit the J and pray, right?
I can't say that, bro. All right, I'm the homie, but I can't be like, you know what I'm saying? We're supposed to be sober-minded, though. Peter does talk about this, right? But in front of that, you can go to God and say, Father God, look at me. My flesh, as I learned from Johnny today, is food for Satan. But Lord, you can stop that. And Lord, if you think this isn't good, please, you God, take it out. You take care of it, right? Satan goes, no, you know it's bad. You gotta take care of it. And when you do, up and down, up and down, understand? So God just wants you to give it up to him. Father God, I need your help. Please, I believe, help my unbelief, understand? And talk to God about these things. Lord, I struggle with them, me too. For the first year of my life, my church is in my neighborhood. So we have a lot of rivals, right? My hood is one gang, but we have like seven different rival gangs against us. And so in that church, I would think, man, I'm saved. I know Jesus forgave my sins, but the guy that I put in the wheelchair, these people, they don't forgive me of my sins, right? They're not, they don't love God.
So for the first year, bro, I would carry a strap every day to church, right? I would just be like, I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna, you know, I'd rather get judged by 12 than carried by six, basically, right? I had that mindset. And so one day, pastor preached about Isaiah 43, right? No weapon formed against me shall prosper, right? He said, weapons will form, but they won't prosper. And I sat there and I was like, wow, I'm trying to protect my life. Is it, isn't it kind of blasphemous to think that God can't protect my life, right? Same thing, you can't get rid of your addiction. I mean, we see that, but can God do it? Absolutely, right there, foundationally, you'd have faith, amen? Amen, amen. John 10, 28 says, I give unto them eternal life and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. The Bible continues to say, right? He that liveth and believeth in me shall never die, correct? So we have everlasting life, one saved, always saved. Yes. So as a believer, a Bible Christian believer saved by faith through grace, if we committed suicide, would we go to heaven or hell? And if we committed a premeditated murder, would we go to heaven or hell?
Very good question. So for me, when you look in scripturally, what is suicide? If you take your own Bible. Right, but scripturally speaking, isn't it just categorized as murder, murder of self? Yes. Are there murderers in heaven? A lot of them. Right, so what I'm saying is, that question is very hypothetical because I don't really know a lot of Christians, at least in my walk, that have that mindset, right? Of like, I'm a Christian, I'm still gonna kill myself. If you're a true Bible-believing Christian who believes in one saved, always saved, who believes in Ephesians 2, 8 to 9 that you quoted, right? Saved by grace through faith, then why, you would have every reason to live. Understand what I'm saying, right? I took, yes. Yeah, go ahead. It's like Samson, his last day on earth, he broke the pillars, he murdered 3,000 people, then he took his own life. In Hebrews 11, he said he went to heaven. Yes. That's what I'm talking about. Very true. So why, yes, that's true.
He's in the hall of faith, as they say. Hebrews 11, you're right. Now Samson, can I touch up on that a little bit exegetically? It's actually pointing to Jesus Christ. Did you know that? Correct. Right. So Samson, right? He was sold for by Delilah for silver, right? And hey, Judas, right? You see that the correlation here? How did Samson die? Arms trip. He broke the temple. Amen. Right? He kept going back to Delilah. People are like, Oh, he's lustful. Why is he going back to Delilah? No, the context is we're Delilah. We continually mess up, but God keeps coming back to us. So they're saying what I'm saying. So in that way, yes, I believe that if a person is a true Bible believing Christian, when it comes to suicide, let's say, right? Of course, life can get tough with them. I'm pretty sure that they can fall to their thoughts. Does that then give up their salvation? I don't believe it, but I don't encourage it. You should be living for the gospel. And if you live for the gospel, you will know one thing. All these thoughts are not my thoughts. These thoughts are not from the word of God, right? Now that's more of a Catholic belief. I think in my research, a lot of Catholics believe if you kill yourself straight to hell, that's where I learned it. Right? Right. You grew up Catholic, Greek Orthodox, same thing, except for the schisms, right? All righty, bro. I got you. Good question. All right. I'm sorry. I'm very nervous. I'm like shaking up. I'm not very good with my words. Convict told you to shake it off. Better shake it off, bro. My significant other, she was baptized. She loves Jesus, but she doesn't go to church. She doesn't read the Bible. She's in a difficult situation right now. We've been through a car accident. We've been through a car accident and I killed someone. I feel like all this survival guilt. She's hurt. And I'm just trying to show her that God has faith. Put your faith in God. Put your trust in God. And how do I tell her that? Like, how do I explain to them? Very simple. Thank you for being honest here. Of course, survivor's guilt. Of course, survivor guilt is real and you feel, you know, sad and that's a normal thing. You're human, right? But what's beautiful about the scripture is that it gives you freedom, right? Isaiah 43, 16 to 19. When you get a chance, please have that dear to your heart and tell your significant other as well. It says, do not think about the things of the past, right? I will do a new thing in you. I, Yahovah, God,
would do a new thing in you. Brother, I can tell you can't. It's probably plaguing you all the time. But God doesn't say you need to do a new thing. The beautiful thing about the word is God says, I will do it. Amen. He says, I'll do a new thing. I will create rivers in the desert and away in the wilderness, right? And I shall spring forth these things. God and his timing is going to heal everything for you. Understand what I'm saying? You have to have that. Another scripture I can give you is Jeremiah 29 verse 11. For I know the thoughts that I have of you. Lots of peace, not of evil to give you unexpected end. In the end, you can expect peace. That's what God is saying. But your situation, when you look at it seems dire, you feel like, oh, it should have been me. Why did you save me? Right? You have those thoughts. That is not from God. That's from the enemy. Amen. Amen. Romans 8 one is very clear. It says there's no condemnation. So God is speaking through scripture here, right? Memorize these scriptures, Isaiah 43, 16 to 19, Jeremiah 29 verse 11, right? Romans 8 one, right? These are things that you have to memorize. You know what's beautiful? Although you went through all of those things, right? You didn't allow the guilt to overcome you. You're still right here listening to the gospel. Thank you. Thank you. Because of Johnny's testimony, I am here today, it's changed my whole entire life. It's changed my whole entire life. The change of God moving through Johnny is just incredible. It was everything that I needed to hear today. I ain't never really seen nobody like Johnny Tapion. Just to see him in person, alive, man, it's a real blessing. It's such a dark world and there's so much hope through our testimonies. We should be gathering together like this as a community to share his love and what he did for us on the cross. You think you're alone in this world trying to go through everything, but one person can bring a lot of people together. Johnny, it's amazing what you're doing, man. It really is. I relate to him so much from being locked up in and out, but the same way God has moved in his life, God's moving in my life, my family's life. It ain't nothing but core of the heart, you know what I mean? Yo, so we just finished our after-service Orlando event. The turnout was amazing. People packed this whole place out. Most importantly, put the gospel first, distrust your thoughts, follow the word of God above your thoughts.
Peace.
