Her Brother Knows The Bible, But Keeps Going To Jail
She watched her brother go in and out of jail her whole life. He knows the Bible. He knows better. And he keeps going back.
And he's incarcerated right now actually, but he's been going to jail since I was eight or nine. I'm almost 30 now, he's in his 30s too. And I was talking to him the other day on the phone and I was talking and he was telling him about the situation and he was upset about it. And out of everybody that reads the word and our family and everything, every time he gets locked up, he goes to the butt, you know, he does that. I was like, you know, you're upset because you know better. And he said, I know, I said, that's why you're mad. So why does he keep going? Why does he keep doing it? It's not like he doesn't know. He knows more than, you know? And then he's like, I'll say happy birthday. He's like, I don't celebrate that. You know, Mary Chris, I don't celebrate that. So you do this, but then you're doing the other. So it's like, is he confused? Am I, what can I do as a sister to like help him? Both of you as a computer. Yeah. So Roman 715 is very clear, right? The Bible says, the things that I do, I allow not for the things that I want to do, I don't do, and the things that I hate, I keep on doing, right, sister? So during that time, Apostle Paul is preaching to the Romans. He's saved. He's already wrote multiple books already.
And he's sitting here and he saved Apostle Paul, wrote 14 epistles of the New Testament more than anybody combined. And he's still saying, I mess up, I struggle. I don't know why I'm doing this. So if Apostle Paul is way more upgraded than me and you and your brother, right? It's struggling. Then you have to realize something. Oh, wait a minute, this is probably what the flesh does. And he explains it in Romans 7, not only 15, but verse 20. It says, if I do the things I don't want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. Your brother, the fact that he goes, I know and I don't want this, is proof that it's something else that's dragging him. He keeps happening. Exactly. And I feel like I'm stronger even though he's more into the, but in more, farther along than I am. So it's like, how do I have the strength to be able to pull on stronger than you are and you know more than me. But you have strength because you receive grace. You're not actually stronger. Jenna, sound what I'm saying? Because real strength is getting people out of it too. And I'm just telling them, hey, you know, do this and do that, right? We have to understand so these sister. We have to realize, oh, they're sinned and it's personified in Genesis chapter four
we went through as a person, as a beast. So there's a beast that's dragging him. We are only as strong as what God allows us to be, right? So if this person, your brother, is getting dragged, we really have to not only pray for them, but believe for them and express that to them and go, hey, this is not who you are. Like, yes, you know this and you should apologize to him and be like, hey, honestly, I'm sorry. Like, I'm not trying to like condemn you. Yeah, no. I want you to understand that I also struggle with it too. There are certain things that you haven't fully, let's say, removed out of your life, right? Like, let's say you get frustrated or, you know, jealous, whatever it is, things of your past that you don't even want to think about, but it springs up, right? Then and then you have to have compassion with him. Oh, my gosh, Lord, you have to help him. Look at him. He wants to not go to prison. He's been doing this since he was 12 years old, 10 years old, whatever. He's so many years have passed by. Clearly, he can't get himself out of it. No, I've been trying. And then when he, when we try to help him, it's like he bites the head and that feeds him. So it's like, okay, well, we're not going to help you now because you just keep. Right. So you're judging. That's what I'm saying. But I'm trying not to, but I can't let him let my ship sink either. Right. So that's what I'm explaining to you.
It's not him. Do you understand how I'm saying that it's not him? And you keep saying, let him, him, him. That's why I said we have to have receptive skills this day, right? We have to listen carefully what the word says. It is not him who's doing that, right? Even me, I'm sitting here and my friends were the same. When I was sit back and I would be hit a lick or rob somebody and I'd go to prison, I also didn't want to do it. Of course, outwardly, I would show it, like, shrug it off. But internally, I was like, why am I like this? I'm broken. Now, imagine if someone comes like my brother, which he did do this, bro, you're the black sheep. What's wrong with you, bro? I literally helped you white. I didn't want to hear that respectfully. I just closed my heart. So I know exactly how your brother feels, right? Instead, if you went and said, hey, you know what? It's okay. Buy it as much as you want. Because the same thing that you've done to me, I've done to Jesus Christ too. And I understand. And see if he sits there and understands you are. Now, he's gonna be like, dang, sis, I get it now. - Yeah, he does. - Yeah, he does. It's not, you know, if you think about it in this way, you're able to forgive him. - Yes. - You won't be
hold it against him and you won't even judge him. Like I said, if you were listening to everybody that I was speaking about, God is going to raise him. God is going to change him. - When you say that God has better things for you all the time, you just have to get, you know, I tell-- - But you have to believe that, though. - I do. I hope he does, yeah. - You have to believe that, that he's gonna believe that. - Exactly. - Right? - Yeah, you're right. - You're saying, I hope he does. No, no, no. Well, leave. No, he's gonna do it. And watch how God works. Then treat him this way. Hey, it's okay. I'm just like you. I'm just like you. But there's this energy that's like, from the enemy too, that's like, bro, I told you already. - I'm saying you pushing him away too. - Yeah. - Do you understand? - Yeah. - Everything I'm saying to you, you're like, "But he's like that, but he's like that." I'm saying you, Sis, if he needed to hear this message, he would have been here. You understand what I'm saying? - Yes. - You gotta think about it like that. I know it's hard to hear, but I gotta keep it real with you. - Okay. - Yeah, I gotta keep it real with you. I know exactly how it feels. I know exactly what you're going through. Everybody asks me this question millions of times. There is a heart inside of us that we have to distrust, that your brother's gonna stay like that. That is not from God. The enemy is telling us that because you're watching the situation.
We have to look at the word. No, God died for him too. Can God snap his fingers and change his heart? Of course. But he's not gonna change it if you have that heart, respectfully. - Yes, ma'am. - Where I told you so many. See, "Oh my gosh, 20 years I've been praying for you." And then you get the glory. God wants you to see, "Oh my gosh, I judge my brother. Lord, I'm sorry. Lord, you will take care of it." And then when you do, you're not gonna be boastful. You understand what I'm saying? So you have to tie that into your brother's salvation too. - All right. - Amen? - Amen. - Yes. - All right. - All right. You guys understand, right? Okay. We gotta go deep here. - All right. - All right. - All right. - All right.
