Understanding the Holy Spirit
Read pages 119-125 of Stephen Canup’s book, "Knowing Jesus Intimately: A Relationship of Love-motivated, Spirit-empowered Obedience," which is available for free reading in Pando Books and Edovo.
TAKEAWAY HIGHLIGHT
“Despite His constant presence, many believers have never given the Holy
Spirit a serious thought, but a deeper understanding of His role in our lives
can transform us. He’s ready and able to help us become the people God
wants us to be. Furthermore, we need His powerful anointing to accomplish
whatever the Lord has called us to do. We can’t even understand the Bible
without His guiding interpretation. Whether we realize it or not, the Holy
Spirit is a vital part of our lives.” Dr. Charles Stanley
PRACTICAL APPLICATION
Mentally envision water. In what three ways does water present itself?
Liquid, solid (ice), and gas (steam). These are three presentations of the
same thing; but they are all still, chemically speaking, water. Similarly,
envision the sun. It produces flame, light, and heat all at once; still it is
the one thing of the sun. This helps us better understand the Trinity of
God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; but they are all still God. God has de
scribed Himself to us in the Bible as three persons, or aspects of the One
person of God. Although the word “trinity” is not in the Bible, it is the
word assigned to the true concept of the three Persons of the One God.
