The Fear of the Lord
Read pages 145-149 of Stephen Canup’s book, "Knowing Jesus Intimately: A Relationship of Love-motivated, Spirit-empowered Obedience," which is available for free reading in Pando Books and Edovo.
TAKEAWAY HIGHLIGHT
Along with awe, reverence and respect for God, we will have a humble,
submissive attitude as an expression of having the fear of the Lord in our
lives. When we are arrogant, conceited, self-sufficient and self-proclaiming
there is no evidence of the true fear of the Lord in us, and it will not be
possible to fully develop an intimacy of relationship with God.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION
Ask the Holy Spirit to show you whether you have a proper fear of the
Lord. Do you want to always do your best to please Him, or are you
generally more concerned with pleasing man? Study the scriptures
above and write down all the benefits of a healthy fear of God.
