Discerning God's Voice
Read pages 105-110 of Stephen Canup’s book, "Knowing Jesus Intimately: A Relationship of Love-motivated, Spirit-empowered Obedience," which is available for free reading in Pando Books and Edovo.
TAKEAWAY HIGHLIGHT
“God himself dwells within us and longs to speak to our hearts. He longs
for us to know the will of our heavenly Father the way Jesus did. He longs
for us to follow his leading moment by moment the way the apostles did.
And he longs for us to engage in conversation with him as all those who
are in true relationship with one another do… In order to learn to hear
his voice moment by moment whether we’re in solitude or in chaos, we
must make time in the secret place to seek the fullness of relationship
with him. It’s in seeking relationship with God that we become familiar
with his voice and are able to follow him as sheep with their Shepherd.”

PRACTICAL APPLICATION
Ask yourself how much better you could resist temptation if you could
more clearly distinguish the voice of the Holy Spirit from all the other
competing voices and distractions. Tell the Holy Spirit you want to
learn to hear Him better. Decide to set aside time daily just to talk to
God and listen for His response. Throughout the day, get in the habit
of communicating with the Holy Spirit – He is your Helper, Friend
and Guide – talk with Him.
