What did you do it was a clip from those three amigos from Steve Martin Martin short and Chevy Chase look at the two little sissies oh my it's a man they know what's up it's an old-school movie so remember how they were looking like mariachis uh-huh so they made fun of them anyways oh my gosh oh yeah yeah god bless you guys we are here we're here we're late but we're here yes better late than never yeah but you know we yeah we had a funeral this week one of our brothers moms brother Jose and so we had to do that on those Thursday normally the day we record so we're late but it's for a good reason because you know we always want to give honor and respect to family and to people especially Jose is a huge part of this church and so that's why we're late but we're here that wasn't the only reason what is the other reason really what happened after the funeral go ahead no go ahead you're a goat head you're a goat head go ahead no go ahead you tell him no go ahead no because did you forget yeah I did well that's something really big to forget you're starting a video off bickering really guys Abraham got into a car accident he's okay though see how she says things no because that's something really big but you're supposed to say hey guys before I say this Abraham's okay and then you say that you know how many of these letters when they found out we got an accident they started crying and you started off with Abraham's an accident like start off by saying Abraham's okay Abraham's okay then tell him the rest but he got into a car accident that night coming home from the funeral yes and he's okay thank you Jesus yeah enemy is such a liar but yes he's okay his car is not okay but he's okay yeah we had to have it towed and this is crazy as you guys know our SUV is getting fixed on it didn't get totaled they're actually fixing it so now we both have rentals yes we're both stuck in rentals guys yeah so yeah I'm just thankful that a semi didn't come and hit him after he you know he was pushed to the side but I'm just thankful that he is okay but we're both in rentals I know why don't feel like the cameras off Center it is you know how you could tell you know look at the corners of the table one is going out one's not you want to fix it yeah all right go fix it

I do got to say that in this batch of letters, we got a lot of people responding to the things that they liked the most on the tables. Yes. That was really cool. Yeah, it was cool.

I'm excited with the things that everybody was talking about, the things that they liked on the table. So that was really interesting. And many of you, I already know, I get it. You get an hour of the Pando, some of you. So you fast-forwarded because this is a road trip edition. But for those of you that didn't fast-forward, God bless you. My whole thing is that eventually you don't want to use that as a crutch. Because dependent on it. Yeah, you want to use that as a help, like training wheels. And eventually, once you learn to ride a bike, you take the training wheels off. But can you serve Jesus while helping? Of course you can. He said that he had hated God before, lost his mom, lost his dad at 10, lost his mom at 12 years old. And my thing is this, and I'm sure you know this by now, but a lot of times when death takes a loved one, we get mad at God. And remember that God is not the bringer of death, man. People, God brought people to this earth so they can live a long, joyful, blessed life. And the enemy is here to steal, kill, and destroy. And it's weird how a lot of times people get mad at God, and then they go and drink and do drugs, this and that. And the whole time, you're doing exactly, you're following after the very one that took your loved one. I say this. I say this constantly because I've

had sisters who have gotten upset. They've had their daughters who have lost babies, who have lost grandmothers, who have lost grandchildren. And they become upset. They're hurt, and they're upset at God. And they will, they're hurting. And I'll be like, it's OK if you're angry. If you are angry and you are mad, it's OK because the Lord can take that. And he understands the pain. He understands the anger. He understands that. And see, the thing is that the Lord can, it's almost like when you have a punching bag, the Lord can be that punching bag, and he can take the hurt. And he can take all of that. And he will stay there, and he will take those punches. You know why? Because he loves you that much, because he understands the pain. And he will take that pain, and he will take it all from you. You know why? Because he loves you that much. And it's OK. And a lot of the times, we think that he's not going to love you after you have been angry or you have been upset at him. And sometimes people will go, and they will start drinking, and they will start doing other things, and they will continue, and they won't come back.

That's the thing, that they don't come back after because they figured, well, he's not going to forgive me because I hated him or anything. And that is a lie of the devil, because he will open his arms and receive you back, because he loves you so much. Amen. He's a forgiving, forgiving, forgiving God. They shouldn't. Somebody, oh, it's the tattoo shop next door. Why do churchgoers hate the, nobody should hate anybody, first of all. Number two, what do y'all say about David, people covered in tattoos going to house arrest. There's a lot of people here that have tattoos. We have people with tattoos all over their face, too. Yeah. I personally don't agree with Christians getting tattoos. And I know that's going to rub some of you wrong, but oh, well. I mean, it is what it is. That's how I feel. I mean, if you got them already, that's one thing. I don't condone getting Christian tattoos. And people say, well, I just want to have this verse. I want to have this. How about instead of tattooing your skin, have that verse tattooed on your heart? But who am I, right? Three, why do Muslims, Islams, say Allah is God? And this is an interesting one, because we were just talking about it, because we don't want somebody to get a misperception of it. But I'm going to say this, but then I'm going to, don't listen to that and run with it. Listen to all of what I said. The word Allah is actually an Arabic word that means God. So even Christians that left Islam, when they talk about God, they say Allah.

But here's the problem, is that people hear that and think the Allah that the Muslims are praying to is the same God that we are talking to. That's not necessarily true, because our God is not a God of destruction. Our God is not a God telling you to kill other people that don't think like you. And the same thing, you know how the money says in God we trust? Well, what God are they talking about? Anybody can say God. Somebody can worship a head of lettuce and say that's God. So hopefully that answers your question. But yeah, that's all the questions he had. I love what you were talking about in the Catholic. Because remember the other day we went to Winko. Which is a supermarket, guys. There was a supermarket. And he was ordering some chicken. And there was a young man that seen his t-shirt. And how did that conversation go? Yeah, so at the back in the deli, they had some fried chicken. And I love me some fried chicken. So I'm like, hey, can I get an eight piece? I didn't realize I had a House of Rest t-shirt on. The one that says H-O-R-C in camouflage. And on the bottom says the House of Rest Church. And he goes, oh, House of Rest Church. And I'm like, I thought he recognized me.

And I'm like, oh, yeah. I said, that's our church. I said, do you go to church? And he goes, no. He goes, I'm Catholic. He goes, is it a Christian church, House of Rest? I said, yeah. I said, you should come. And then he goes, well, what's the difference between Catholic and Christian? And I said, well, I said, you're a Catholic? He goes, yeah. I said, do you love Jesus? He goes, yeah, I do. You believe he died? Yeah, I do. And so anyways, it led to me inviting him to House of Rest on Sunday. And I wish I had a card on me. I didn't have one. But the conversation we had in the car, as I told Sharon, I said, anytime you talk to somebody of a different belief or whatever, find the common ground. Instead of the uncommon and trying to get them to believe or trying to convince. Instead of me talking about praying to the Virgin Mary or where do the people believe they go? Between heaven and before heaven? Purgatory.

Purgatory. Instead of talking about all that stuff, go to the common stuff first and show them in the scriptures. The commonalities. Show the commonality. And that way, it leads to a place where they're like, oh, I believe in Jesus, too. I believe in the resurrection, too. I believe in the miracles, too. I believe in the Bible, too. No church is perfect Every church has its strength their own mission and strength and weaknesses, but overall man Um by all means I think that that is great that you have family and friends that go there I know that's a place that's gonna get you solid and serving jesus. Yeah, so yeah I'm all for it if that's what especially in utah where there's not that many christian churches and if you have the support there brother Then get yourself grounded somewhere and you know be there with your family It's it's beautiful to have a fat i've only been to two ministries my whole life One was victory outreach and until I married my husband and here I am with house of rest, you know I said it right babe house of rest. So those are the only two ministries I have been with my whole life, and I'm thankful for the church family that I've had. And still to this day, I still have a bridge. I still have church family that I talk to from Victory Outreach. And I still connect with actually my pastors from there. I still communicate with them. I still talk to them, and I'm blessed. Mean, I think ultimately we know is Satan But he I think he was talking about specific people like who literally went over there to dismantle or try to dismantle what I went And established. It's his first time in prison. And you're right, brother. Your family suffers with you. That's a hard lesson I had to learn when I got locked up, is my family would suffer, man, in holidays. Nothing's the same. And I know you can speak to that because of Luis. Just recently, the ups and downs of, like, we were really, really concerned for, like, my abuelita and my mom's health recently with the back and forth of whether he's going to come out.

Hope and not hope. The hope. Hopelessness. Yeah. All of that was just really, really hard. You guys, my abuelita is 90, almost 94 years old. And she kept getting sick because of the stress and the anxiety and just a lot of back and forth. And then my mom was getting really, really sick. And I'd just seen her kind of going into, like, the depression. And just she would cry every single time that I would talk to my mom. And I think because my other sisters are very strong-willed, and I'm, like, I'm a little bit softer with her, she would cry to me. And it would be really, really hard to hear my mom broken and just broken, like her will would be broken. And it is hard, you know, because they do get physically and emotionally, their spirit, everything becomes broken. You know, I had a brother, a 33-year-old brother. He was my stepbrother. But to me, he's my brother. You know, I've known him since he was little. And he was 33 years old. He had been battling with brain cancer for a really, really long time. It was in remission for a long, long time.

But the thing is is that he had went back to his doctors. And he looked fine, guys. He was doing great for a long time. But when he went back to his doctors, they told him that it had come back and it had spread. But here's the thing, that the moment they told him that it came back and it spread and that he only had, like, days, like weeks, they only told him, they told him that he had, like, two weeks, like 14 days to live. That's what they were telling him, that it looked like it had spread so bad and that he didn't have a long time to live. Here's the thing. If he wouldn't had went into that appointment, if he wouldn't had went in, I think my brother would have lived a lot much longer. But when he went into that appointment, it killed his spirit. He didn't even last four days. He literally passed so quick. Like, it killed his spirit. Because he was a believer, a believer. And, like, his mind just started, like, he didn't want to eat. He became sick immediately. He just, everything began to shut down within four days. My brother just didn't want to get out of bed, stopped eating. His organs began to shut down, everything. And that's what took him. But I believe that if he wouldn't

have been given that news, he would have lasted a lot much longer. I believe that. It will kill your spirit. Our family suffers. When I was in the streets, I took it serious. And how much more am I going to be for Jesus? You know, that's one thing that I do love about our home church here is that. A lot of the times, there's churches where there's a lot of women that serve. It's full of a lot of women. In this house, there's a lot of men. Because we have a church where men are rising up, and they're leading their families. But I think because men see me. I think a lot of times, churches are fit. I'm going to say, I'm just going to say it the way I say it. A lot of churches, for whatever reason, many of the leadership of men, they're very feminine. If not feminine, they're very, what's the word? Or churches are very feminized. You know what I'm saying? Because women are running it. So if things are going to look girly, and yeah, to a certain point. For instance, the design here of the church, that ain't me. That's all Sharon. But she doesn't do it in a way where it's feminized. She has a way where it's more cozy. It's a home. It's a home. You make it a home. But you get a lot of leaders, a lot of pastors that you can tell that they're not like men's men.

You know what I'm saying? And I'm not saying I'm the toughest guy here or not, whatever. But man, I grew up in the ranchos. I grew up in a ranch. I grew up in Tracy. I grew up in gangs. I grew up, I went to prison, got out. So I think men are looking for strong men. I guess that's what I'm trying to say. They're looking for men to follow. They're not trying to follow boys. I remember there was a time where there was one time when somebody tried to say that I ran the church. We laughed. We literally laughed because I was like, yeah, that's not happening. My husband runs our home. My husband is the leader of my home. You know what, one thing my husband allows me is my opinion. And he respects my opinion. He gives me a voice. He allows me to have a voice that I will never overstep the boundary of like he makes the decisions in our home. And he allows me my opinion. And he literally will sit down and tell me like, what do you think? Do you not?

He will tell me, what do you think? And whenever something, I will always come to him and be like, let him know what's going on. I will always come to him with questions. Whenever something happens in this church, he will always know everything. And a lot of the times people think that things come from me, but truly they're coming from him. He has the last word of every decision of everything that takes place here without people realizing that he's the one that's given the answer to everything that takes place here. But the thing is, is that I'm the bearer of the bad news. And I'm the one that gets the grunt of things, but that's OK. But I just love the fact that he is the leader of this home. And I praise God. You know why? Because the leader of him is Jesus. And I thank God for that. I want to piggyback off of that, is that a lot of you men, you think just because you're the man that your wife or your lady is supposed to follow you. No. Here's the thing, right? Where are you leading them to? Because I truly believe, biblically speaking, for those of you that know the Bible, your woman will follow you if she knows that you are following Christ.

She will submit, and I don't mean submit in a bad way, but she will submit when she sees the man submit to Jesus. If there's something about a woman that stirs her heart, if she sees you bend your knee to the Savior. Yes, because she feels safe. She feels safe knowing that she's going in the right. I feel safe. I feel covered. I feel like I know where I'm going when I'm, you know? It's like I don't have to question anything, because I know that you're leading me in the right direction, you know? They show little emotion, laziness. I think that's a definition, if you ask a Pentecostal. Because the reason I say this, Brother, with all love, I've met some people that are super alive, and they worship the loudest, but they sin the hardest undercover. So we've got to be careful with that, of saying, oh, that person's full of the spirit, because they sing loud, they raise their hand, they clap, and they're living like devils Monday through Saturday. So, you know, I mean, but- They could be on the fence. Exactly, you know what I mean? So that's what I'm saying. This is just what I've seen over life. And I've met people that are very calm, but they are solid. They don't waver. They love the Lord, and they live according to the word of God. And then maybe they're not the loudest.

You know, they're just more reserved. You know, I think I'm reserved. Yeah, you are. You know, but, so, yeah. I mean, but, yeah, that was this question. Would you say that God is a double portion giving God? I call the double portion giving. I do believe. Matter of fact, even more so, I think God is a God of multiplication. You know, he multiplies. And to me, that is scripture, that is biblical, because in the beginning, he said he made us in his image. And what did he tell Adam and Eve? Be fruitful and multiply. Why would he say that to them unless he multiplies? So I think when he gets one person saved in your family, God's gonna multiply and multiply many more people in your family. California is a big state, brother. You know, and unfortunately, I don't have the means. There's no way. I mean, there's no way for me to make a list

I think you just gotta be a little bit more specific as to exactly where you wanna go or what, but we are gonna include with this road trip, you know, an option. So maybe look into seeing if that would be an option for you. You know, because the reason I say that, and again, maybe you probably know this, but Nevada, it's a lot of desert, and a town here and a town there. California, it is littered with cities and towns. So again, it's a big state, and it's hard because we're not a one-stop shop church. We don't, I don't have staff like that to do that. I don't, you know? You know, we have the gospel mission, Salvation Army, but then we also have the resource that we're gonna be putting up for you guys. So yeah, let us know if that works for you. Sister Chansey Cox in Corona, California, she had a question, and it's an honest question, so I'm gonna give you an honest answer, which is she goes, she had said, you know, the cost of being on Pando-Nidovo, is that something we as leaders made a decision, and now we put the burden on the congregation of the cost of it? And I'm like, actually, no, we didn't do that.

When we first started Pando-Nidovo, I searched out for individual people, some that come here, some, most of them are not, to say, hey, we wanna get Pando-Nidovo. It costs X amount of money, so we're looking for X amount of people to be a monthly giver, actually. And that's an honest question, so I'm just giving you an honest answer. Some of them stayed, and some of them fell off, and, you know, and- But we don't include Pando-Nidovo as a burden to the church, to the church overhead. No. At all. So for that reason, actually, you're right. It wouldn't be fair to us, take it on, and then expect the church to give. That's the last, actually, that's what I didn't wanna do, remember that? Yeah, we didn't wanna do that. And, you know, we do have a few faithful, you know, people that do give, you know, their little $25 or $20 here and there, but, you know, we're thankful for that, but no, we don't. We didn't get that. And she suggested that we teach tithing to people that are inmates now, that it's good to teach them. And maybe that's something I could do in the future. Yeah, absolutely. Well, in the same way, I spot greed, and I spot fame in people that are, unfortunately, Christian rappers. I'm not saying all of them, but 80% of the ones I meet, I see that same spirit on them that I had. I had a reason, I was in the world. So it's hard for me.

But I do see that people get saved through it. Many people got saved because of Christian rap. But I want to say this, many people got saved when preachers preach, but that preacher's living wrong. I have a hard time talking to people, but I'm trying to figure it out. Thanks brother. Um, so the question you're asking is, does it mean if I don't do works, my faith is dead? No, I think don't allow the enemy to make you think like you ain't doing nothing. So now you don't have faith that that's a lie from, from Satan, you know, but what that scripture is saying is that when you have faith, you want to do works. It's not that because you do works, you have faith. It's because you have faith. You want to do things for the Lord. Sometimes you you're trying to learn, you're trying to break the ice, but you have the desire to do it because you have faith. And the second question. It's a follow-up from the last podcast, John 5.4. It's taken out, but it's in other Bibles. It says in the ones that have it, it says, The angels went down and stirred up the water, and who got in first was healed. We know angels can't heal you, only Holy Spirit and God, Jesus, can do it. Does this mean that they are saying that this is not true? Maybe that's why ESV took it out. I'm not sure why the reason ESV took it out. I'm not even sure if that's true. You got to remember, in the midst of the Old Testament, in the midst of the Gospels, there was a lot of superstition. You know, people would think this lake or this river or this mountain or whatever, all of that was true back then. So I think that for whatever reason, somebody said they got healed because they got in that water. So somebody else said, well, maybe an angel stirred it. And next thing you know, it becomes a thing where people... So it doesn't say in the Bible what happened there, but we don't know. We don't know. So maybe ESV left it out because it wasn't there in the original manuscript. That's what he's asking about.

We are on our way to Fairfield, California, which is an hour and a half away from Modesto. That's our district superintendent, City Church 242. And they are the district superintendents of Northern California Grace International Churches, Pastor Scott and Deborah. And we're going to take two applications for our Spanish leaders, Armando and Lorena. Really excited because that way they can get recognized for their pastoral license. When we go to Houston. Yes, that's exciting. Yeah. Yeah, really excited and proud of them, of what they're doing for the Spanish church and everything that's transpired. And I'm really proud of them, you know, and, um, but the deadline is February. Today's the 25th. So instead of depending on the mail, I said, we're just going to drive it over there, you know, and, um, we want to make sure that they get in because we don't want them to not be recognized in April.

So once it's splitting, I'll get on this side. So I just thought I was just driving through Stockton. This is Stockton here. And, uh, I said, I thought in my head, you know what? I need a new phone holder. Remember in, uh, the Lake Tahoe one that broke. And we're finally. Yes, babe. And we got so many of these already. I think we have like three or four, but none of them are good. This one's really nice. Okay. I was being remember guys. So those of you that seen all the road trips, remember I bought one that was all wobbly in Texas. I think it was a Dallas. Yeah. And we put that one away in the box and then we kept it. Is this one going to end up being one of the ones we put back in the box too? Uh, yeah, I'm hoping if this works out fine, this is what I'll take to, uh. Texas. To Texas. Okay. Cause look, it's not wobbly. It's nice. So, I mean, it's wobbly cause it's a bumpy road. Cause we are in California and they charge a lot for everything, but don't fix roads. But, um, cause I haven't had a chance to buy one. And we've had this rental car cause we're, they're still working on our car guys. They didn't total it out.

So they're actually fixing the SUV. And so we're still in his rental car. I'm thankful because I like our car. Yeah. And, um, so while we had this rental, I hadn't bought one. And then finally I'm just like, I was passing through right now. I'm like, I'm going to, I told Sharon, I was like, I'm going to get off real quick. There's a store here where stuff is cheap. It's called Didi's. I don't know if any of you know what it is, but it's like a discount store, like a Ross or a Marshalls, but even cheaper. And, um, they always have these phone holders. And sure enough, right when I walked in, there was a little stand and this one was like $5.99. And, um, I've noticed what I have noticed in my experience, the cheaper they are, the better. Cause I remember a couple of times we tried getting better ones and like, they have features like flexible. arm flexible and it's just they're not good these cheap boats man they do the job but uh so fairfield is sort of if you know the map of california it's sort of toward the bay area north bay um and uh yeah so we're just driving looking forward to it and uh i was telling jaren right now like even if i record a little bit i know a lot of you love the road trips because it helps you escape and i mean if we can help you escape for a little bit then let's go yeah and just show you you know um some of the ride you know and so right now we're going on uh north and high five highway five goes pretty much through most of california or if not all of it from what from la or maybe even san diego all the way through la all the way up through here through stockton all the way to sacramento yeah but before sacramento we're getting off on highway 12 to go to fairfield that's a nice little drive yeah yeah i'll show you a little bits here and there goes through a little country area yeah we have to get off here on this truck stop called flag city and then from flag city we take highway 12 west toward fairfield goes to some nice little bridges oh yeah that remember we bought the suv the other years ago the other one the first one

and the first the first black one yeah so we're looking forward to getting our car back we got an estimate supposedly we can get it back in two and a half weeks but the guy said that's just estimate you know just a projected date he said you guys don't don't count on that as it could be earlier he said it all depends on the parts he said they're waiting on parts coming in to fix it um you know this rental guy is it's cool it's a nissan rogue i don't know what year it is i'm guessing it's new because it doesn't have that many miles but we miss our suvs i know i miss it too yeah it's uh but this one's pretty comfortable are you comfortable yeah it's comfortable i mean all we do is go to the church and back home yeah we haven't we haven't really don't go anywhere we haven't taken this on a long trip wait didn't we went to your eye doctor though in the bay area yeah that's pretty comfortable but nothing is comfortable that big osv guys so and now i know that it's very safe yeah yeah i am i cannot believe like yeah we like the bigger cars because we feel safer i remember telling i'm so thankful for it guys in the beginning it has like all-wheel drive four-wheel drive all that because at the time we got it remember we were helping establish the lake tablet church yeah but man the safety so many people have told her including insurance that if it was a smaller car sharon would have gotten really hurt because it hit right where her leg is at on the door you know yeah i i just feel safer in in the bigger car and i don't know i've been very jumpy lately like if i see a car coming out of a driveway or whatever i just get real jumpy so here's flag city not sure why they call it flag city i don't see a lot of flags it's a truck stop basically in north stockton sort of between load isolancy it says fairfield in the sign that's where we're going highway 12 fairfield but there's like uh what chevron carl jr best western hotel cafe flying j truck stop subway denny's loves just the truck stop and uh but now i'm getting off i-5 and taking 12 west to fairfield um i can't record the whole time guys because it'll take up our time for reading letters and we don't want to take time away from that appreciate all your letters if some of you watch our road trips and that's it if you only watch our road trips uh jesus loves you yes he's calling you he says he leaves the 99 sheep to go and find the one and you're that one you know and the lord loves you so much that he wants you to be able to enjoy these road trips i'm glad you're just even watching these road trips you know It means a lot that you're even just tuning in to the road trips and spending time with us.

For those of you that that watch the road trips only, I mean I hope someday you watch the bible studies or sermons but if you only watch the road trips can you write us a letter? You know even if you're not a believer if you're not you know write us a letter tell us how the road trips have helped you or you like them or let tell us what you like maybe we traveled through places you that travel through or where you live at we want to hear from you too right? Yeah you know believe it or not it does a lot for us I'll tell you one thing that that we love you know because even getting away you know our life is is doing you know the lord's work and you know our life is ministry and constantly you know we're constantly doing ministry so being able to get away and and we do this you know there's times where David will be like you want to just go take a drive and what it does for us too it's it's a big deal um because there's moments where we'll just take a drive and we'll just go and it it does something to us you know it it releases a lot of uh anxiety anxiety stress you know and it just puts your you know it puts your mind at ease and it just blesses us so much that it's good for our marriage it's good for us for our well-being um and it really does you know and sometimes they'll be dope I can't even tell you it's been a long time that we've been able to do this but there was a there was moments where we would just drive and just keep driving and driving and driving and go so far to where um he'd be like you know you want to just stay out here since we're so far away from home and we'd be like yeah let's just stay um overnight somewhere if we would just choose random places because we needed it we needed a break and sometimes we need our mind our mind our hearts we need that break mentally yeah and and you need that well even spencer scott where we're going guys he's like i was like i want to drive the applications up because i know the deadline and he's like well you can just send them i was like no we'll just drive them to you him not realizing this drive is is like a mental break for us it really truly is you know because we used to do this more often in the last few years we've been so busy that we haven't been able to do this kind of stuff and and i'm thankful for that i think that's you know what now that you're we're saying this i think that's the root of why we feel the road trips are important to you guys because of what the rides did for us yeah because of what it did do for us and and you guys don't realize that it would in turn what it's doing for us is what it's doing for you guys and it's doing the same for us guys yeah so it's like you know um so many of you that have release dates or things like that

many of you in letters have said man it's cool to see you and sharon interact because it shows us how to interact as a christian couple and i never thought of that before right because we do not go into clubs we're not drinking we're not going to bars i have so much fun with my wife i do too and and like especially before um we used to go on a lot of bike rides together and we would make that that would be like that was our date even before it was um and then these these rides like she's right when we were married i would say um let's go somewhere she's like where i said i don't know just take a change of clothes let's see where we end up you know and we would just go and drive pick a highway pick a freeway and drive and like you said end up at some town who knows two hours away and then we would that wasn't before we were married that's after we're married that's what i said i said the bike rides were before yeah i said my friends were before i said babe i literally said i said after we got married okay and um and just go and explore that town and we find somewhere to eat and it wouldn't be somewhere expensive just some little in the wild spot and uh and just learn that town you know or whatever it is they have to offer a museum or something you know there's a lot of things you can do in this world not everything has to be drugs and alcohol and clubs and bars and no no you can have you can have a a fun wholesome marriage and fun you know it it made me laugh the other day because i went in for a small you know same day procedure at the hospital and and i came out um the same day and um two hours later two hours later and you know and he's like man he goes he goes i don't like being without you i was like i was in surgery i was bored and he's like i was bored without you and i was like babe because i was only gone for two hours like three hours the most and he's like yeah but i don't like it and it made me laugh you know because we're really inseparable in a sense you know like his office is one side of the church and my office is on the other side of the church and you know we're we work together and you know we're always together but we never get tired of being with each other and you know i we're always driving even when when i had my car guys um i never drove it it was always stuck at home and my car would never get used it sat there and it really got cobwebs all the time so it got to the point where my mom's car would always leave her stranded and i had a really nice car i had a really nice nissan merano and my mom would call me and she'd be like man my car left me stranded again and i finally just thought about it and i was like you know i'm just gonna give my car i'm gonna bless my mom with my car and i said you know what mom i'm gonna give you my car and she's like what and i said yeah i'm gonna give you my car so

i gave my mom my car because i never used it i was always with my husband so i just gave her my car because we're we're attached to the hip but i love spending time with him it's not like oh he doesn't say like oh you can't go with your friends or you can't be with your friends the thing is he is my best friend i love hanging out with him i can go you know there there's times where he does um he would actually be with the brothers and so i would tell the sisters hey do you guys want to go out for breakfast and they'd be like yeah so when he'd be with the men i would go have you know breakfast with the girls and so and then we'd come back together and all the couples would hang out together but you know it that's that's that's our life and we just love spending time together but these trips this is our getaway yeah this truly is our getaway and we love it guys see this divider see this divider when i was young this divider wasn't there and there was so many head-on deaths collisions yeah i i believe it yeah i'm so glad that divider's there seriously because all it takes is one person wasn't there before it wasn't okay no all it takes is one person falling asleep on either one of these sides you know and uh i'm kind of glad i am glad to see that kind of i am glad to see it well this is you know unfortunately my brother two years uh passed away he was on his way to work um and my stepbrother my stepbrother my brother-in-law um he was on his way to work and he had a seizure and he his truck went on to the opposite side of the road and it was similar but there was just dirt in the middle and he went on head on with a with a military bus and um and he passed away you know and um it's been really hard on our family it's been really hard on my little sister and and so he's a really good guy man yeah an amazing guy i miss my i miss my my brother and my brother-in-law very very much you know he was on his way to work and one thing that's crazy though is that we didn't know that he was seeking the lord he was writing a diary with letters journal journaling i remember he sat in one service at house of during covid the whole family came to visit nobody was in the church i would live stream only but they came to visit remember And they sat in the front row. And I think that sparked something in him because from that moment, that was 2021 maybe, up to his death, it did something in his spirit. I mean, only the Lord knows when we're gonna go,

but the Lord loves you so much because tomorrow's not promised. And he wants you to be with him for eternity, so bad, it doesn't matter what you did, it doesn't matter the sin, doesn't matter how deep the crime, he wants you so bad to spend eternity with him. And look, the divider's not here. So they're probably just slowly working, putting divider on. Yeah, I miss my little white boy. Yeah, we have every culture in our family. I used to call him my white boy. Everything's green. In the summer, guys, this drive, all those fields are just yellow and dirt. But right now, because it's winter. Everything's beautiful and green. Everything's green. So a little bit about Grace International, the way it works is our district up north, Northern California District of Grace has 10 churches under it, which we're part of, we're one of the 10. And I'm on the board of the Northern District of Grace International, Northern Cali District. And that means that anybody that gets licensed or ordained has to go through the board, which is three of us, which is Pastor Scott, the one we're about to meet, the district superintendent,

and myself and another pastor. And we go through the interviews. We interview people. And then the three of us interview the, what is the person that's signing? Oh, the applicant. Yeah, the applicant. And then we decide whether to grant them further license. And then it gets sent up to the woodlands in Houston. Yeah. And then they make the decision there, but they base their decision really on, if any one of us three deny it, then it's done. It has to be unanimous. That's kind of just the way it works, guys. And I think to me, there's safety in that, especially with so many scandals in ministry. Yeah, I was watching, what's the guy, Anthony Phillips? Yes. What's his full name? Michael Anthony. Michael Anthony Phillips. I think you guys have a few clips of him, at least on Pando, I've seen a few. He's in Atlanta, Georgia. Amazing, amazing preacher now. Yes. If you guys watch him or don't know about him, he gets our stamp of approval.

Not that he needs our stamp of approval, but I'm just letting you know. The guy's fired, man. I just watched a clip, and man, I'm gonna show him the clip. Actually, I can edit it in. You were still getting ready, you didn't hear it, and I'll show it to you too, but man, he was at a conference, and apparently some people weren't worshiping, and he just went in on them, and then he spoke to pastors, and I don't wanna give it away, but he's basically like, pastors, man, what, you think you've gone too high where you can't raise your hands up? It's so good, and- My heart keeps swarming. This truck? Yes. So, anyways, my point is this. This is what I like, because he says, these pastors, man, why are you sitting there with your arms crossed? You think you're too high now, or too arrogant, or too whatever to worship? And it made me think, when we go to the grace conferences, all the pastors, Thomas, Regal, all of them are worshiping the Lord.

Yes. All of them are raising, sometimes Pastor Scott, who we're gonna meet, he starts crying, he goes, let me, the water works. Yeah, it's beautiful. He goes, I feel the presence of God, and he just humbles himself, and it's beautiful, guys. I love belonging to an organization of pastors, where they've been doing it 35, 40 years, and they still get moved to tears when they talk about Jesus. That's when I know we're in the right place. Because the scripture says If you don't do that He'll raise up a rock in that parking lot To cry out for Him And I want to tell everybody in this room That the Lord is not insecure He is surrounded by an innumerable amount of angelic beings and when they see his side they cry holy and when they see his back they cry holy and when they see his other side they cry holy and day and night without rest they cry holy, holy holy so he don't need your praise, he is surrounded by praise he's not insecure but in the middle of that book these sacred 66 documents the largest document in this book, the book of Psalms there are commandments in there, not options not suggestions, not do this if it's a black thing, a white thing, a Pentecostal thing there are commandments on the inside of there and it don't got nothing to do with you being shy listen to some of those commandments, just listen there's a commandment in there that says clap your hands all you people, that ain't an option, that's a commandment from God that ain't got nothing to do with Pentecostal, that's Biblical there's a command in there that says lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord, that's a commandment since you're so shy, there's a commandment in there that says shout unto God with a voice of triumph those are not suggestions

they're not options read them, they are commandments from the one you call Lord and Savior now watch, God designed you he fashioned you, molecular put you together let me tell you what he knows, he knows you can't praise and be depressed at the same time you can't praise and worry at the same time you can't praise and be distracted at the same time he knows what praise does in you and for you clap your hands all you people lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord shout unto God with the voice of triumph hallelujah last lesson, this is for all the pastors, you're too cool I know you're in the room, you don't want to lose your dignity you ain't got that David anointing we've been in the ministry so long, we think we don't owe God that no more so arrogance rises in our heart I don't got to do that because some young black dude told me to do that you might as well be dead if you don't want to praise him let everything that has breath praise God in his place hallelujah praise him praise him come on, praise the man please, it's the last night of your conference praise him, hallelujah somebody shout Now clap your hands, all you people. So I'm going to show you this bridge and then I'm going to end it because I don't want to make it too long because I want to be able to show you Fairfield, but this bridge is really cool.

It's a nice river. Right here in the Central Valley, Northern California, if you look at a map, the rivers look like veins because they're everywhere. There's rivers everywhere, especially where I'm from, Modesto, Tracy, Stockton, all the way up to Fairfield. Remember on a map, it just looks like veins everywhere. So when they say there's a drought in California, they're talking about Southern California. Is this what they call the Delta? Yes, it's the Delta. So there's this huge river, guys, look at this. And when people say there's droughts, they're talking about Southern California, Los Angeles. They're not talking about here because we have so much water. All of this water comes from the Sierra Nevada, Lake Tahoe area, all those mountains you see up there. That water, it snows so much, and it melts, and it comes down to the valley, which is here. And our rivers are always full. This is, what is this town called? Rio Vista? I think so. Yeah, this is Rio Vista. That Chevrolet on the left is where we bought, you probably saw it, that blue sign. We bought our SUV there years ago. Not the one that's getting fixed, but an older one. This is a real small town, Rio Vista, I think all they have is just this street. Yeah, but it's nestled right next to that huge river. Do you think it ever gets flooded over here? I don't think so. I think it's too high. Oh, really?

I think if it floods, it'll flood that way, where we just came from, where all the fields were. Because I think that side is lower than this side. So the water automatically would go that way, if, but I think it's been like 23 years since Human being, look at that cop, I saw that in Reno, when we were there. A human being? Yeah, it's like a little coffee shop. Alright guys, so it says Fairfield 21 more miles. I'm going to go ahead and stop it because I don't want to use all the footage. I want to be able to show you the city church. This is so pretty right here. Ok, I'll record for a couple more minutes. This is so pretty. It's like rolling hills. I know, this is so pretty. This reminds me of Sagine, Texas. When you go from San Antonio to Sagine, Texas and you getting close to Sagine, it's rolling hills like this. It is beautiful, huh? Yeah. It's so pretty. Yeah, so it's not divided. I wonder if they put divider where the accidents happen the most. Yeah, probably. Back there, huh? Yeah. That's probably what it is. I mean, I'm sure we could use dividers on all of this, but they probably did the most trouble areas first. Yeah, we always think you guys on road trips would never show you our neck of the woods

that much. So this is what Northern California looks like. I mean, this looks the way it looks in Tracy, Modesto on the outskirts, Stockton. Alright, so here's a traffic light. I'm just going to go ahead and stop it, guys, and I'll be right back with some more footage. You guys to the right of me, you probably can't see those buildings way to the right. That's Travis Air Force Base. Quick story, promise quick. When I was sentenced and they were going to send me to Terminal Island Federal Prison in Long Beach, which is... About seven hour drive, I had to take Conair and so they gathered us up. They wouldn't tell us where they're sending us because of just precautions. They don't want nobody to try to escape or something. They don't tell us where we're going until we were in the van headed to Travis Air Force Base and they started saying our names. You're going here, you're going there and my prayers were that I stay in California but that's highly unlikely because federal prison you go anywhere they want. They can send you to Alaska if they want and my prayers are like Lord please let me stay in California because my parents are elderly and how are they going to visit me if I'm far you know and so they're like you're Rocha and I was like yes you're going to Terminal Island you know and even though that's a seven hour drive it's a drive so I knew my parents wouldn't have to fly and um so they took us there and uh they had marshals or no no I don't know if they're marshals maybe I don't remember if it's marshals or just correctional BOP. They're standing outside with shotguns and I got uh the waist chains on handcuffs my ankle the ankle chains and then they put us and they brought us on Con Air which doesn't look like the movie it's not it's not a a flying prison it's just a regular plane it looks like you're in Southwest or whatever but anyways a lot of the inmates were afraid of flying so nobody wanted a lot of not nobody a lot of them did not want a window seat so I wanted a window seat I was accustomed to flying and uh I remember for that hour flight I didn't want to look at the inmates I didn't want to look down the aisle so I get what you mean when you guys like the road trips and I just stared out the window the whole time because I wanted to enjoy it because it felt like I was free even though I was in chains

even though I had the waist chains but when we took off I was able to just look out the window and be free for that hour remember how Jimmy Trejo was telling us babe in the in this letter that he had been in that was it McConnell unit or somewhere for 25 years oh yeah and then he went on a bus ride when they transferred him out what last year or a year and a half yeah last year yeah and he said that he took a bus ride hadn't hadn't left the facility he's at for 20 I mean that's a quarter of a century and all of a sudden he's on a bus looking out and um in a letter he had said when I took that bus ride I realized I want to drive when I get out I just want to drive because that moment of freedom you know and that's what I felt when I was in Travis Air Force Base flying over California to Terminal Island we ended up landing in Victorville from there we had buses waiting and then everybody got transferred wherever they were going I went to San Bernardino County Jail for a few hours and then another bus came and took me to Terminal Island and that's where I started my prison sentence anyways the Air Force Base is here in Fairfield all right guys be right back all right guys we're here in Fairfield on Tabor Avenue that's where this the church it's called City Church 242 uh Pastor Scott and if you are in a Fairfield area releasing to the Fairfield area Fairfield Davis uh Vacaville that area which is like North Bay uh we recommend this church they will welcome you you won't feel uh they you won't feel awkward you won't feel you know um they will embrace you I promise you that um and especially especially if you say that we recommended you um say yeah David and Sharon you know say that uh uh you know to come here and um you will get embraced guys City Church 242 in Fairfield California on Tabor Tabor East Tabor Avenue and uh we're gonna be pulling up right now in about a minute or two and that way you can see what it looks like real quick as we pull into the parking lot I know we want to build a network of churches that we personally know and will personally for sure confident that that you will be embraced that's something that me and Sharon wanted to work on and sooner rather than later um it's coming up here shortly that's why like we when we did the introduction guys on Thanksgiving with that church in Hayward they're not even part of Grace so it's not just churches that are Grace it's just churches we know so you can have a landing pad somewhere you know you can't do it alone you know and uh you

need support you need family if you don't have family you need a church family not only that is a church but will embrace you and knows what you're coming out of because acclimating to the free world is not easy and the longer you've been locked up the harder it is and you may not realize it but it's it's a struggle and you need you need support you can't do it alone but man thank god that there's amazing ministries out there here we are we're turning left it's 743 Tabor Avenue Fairfield California Pastor Scott okay so here we go this is your parking lot why is there combs there? awesome park right here all right guys here's the lobby guys hey guys this is a city church sanctuary they have um they this church provides housing for men and women so if you get out of prison and don't have any place to stay there's an application there's a way to get in but uh if you get a hold of me I can call on my on your behalf and that's it'll be a lot easier to get in so this is their church here I'll introduce you to Pastor Scott in a minute we're gonna go to lunch right now and introduce you to him and his wife all right guys here we are driving through Fairfield I don't know much about this city this is Travis Boulevard for those of you that do know this area I don't know if there's a downtown or historic area I have no idea the history of this town but just wanted to show you a little bit we're gonna be meeting up with Pastor Scott and Debra for a quick lunch before heading back to Modesto we have bible study tonight we are in part two of the study we started first Corinthians chapter one last week and I think we're still chapter one actually I'm not sure I gotta go back and see where we left off either we're ending chapter one or we're at chapter two I believe we're still in chapter one I'll introduce you to them over lunch and of course we're gonna let you see what we ordered I have no idea they're gracious enough to be treating us and um I know some of you like to see what it is that we were eating so see you in a minute all right guys we didn't realize where

we were told to come to is a place we know Huckleberry's he said Huckabees Huckleberry's we got them in in we're in Stockton right Stockton Modesto it's a Cajun place so uh we'll let you know what it is we have all right guys I get catfish fish and chips I'm showing them what I ordered what could I eat this whole salad no I'm being really serious all right guys so I promised you I would introduce you to uh Pastor Scott and Debra and um they are the grace uh international district here and for NorCal so I like to film because I want them to hear from you that if they if they happen to release and they're in this area that they're welcome so good I don't know if you want to introduce yourself I'm Pastor Scott, this is Pastor Debra and we pastor City Church in Fairfield and we're involved with the homeless those that are on parole, probation, people are placed in our custody we work with the court systems here and we house in what we call the City Church, City Life School, yeah we changed the name sorry City Life School we have dorms so you can come stay for free it's a one-year stay and we have classes and all kinds of programs to help you get a better a better life basically get on your feet yeah if they aren't wanting and I know there's a process is there any I should have asked you this off-camera but is there anything they can do while they're still maybe they have a few months left is there anything they can do now before they get out to reach out to you or yeah you can go ahead and send us a letter to City Church 743 East Tabor Avenue Fairfield California 94533 yeah attention Pastor Scott and then what we will do is we'll in turn write a letter to you to give to your public defender to show in court that if you're wanting to come our way that we've accepted you you you're wanting to come into a program and if you're going up for a parole hearing or probate whatever chances are I know I know here in this county we're we're known by the courts and all the criminal judges anybody that gets a letter from us they have a 90-plus percent chance that they're coming our way and being released from jail so we'd love to have you yep yep praise God love to have you Jesus has good things all right thank you guys all right all right guys I know you guys don't look to see him don't get the

chance to see stores much we're in this Dollar Tree everything's $1.25 I'm picking up a couple of these packs of zip ties for the wires keeps wires in control at the church they're cheap $1.25 there's a lot of little frames Sharon's picking up some frames we need all kinds of candles well for those of you do you guys do yarn work I know when I was in prison a lot of guys did yarn work cool colors here make all kinds of stuff this one's like fuzzy yeah these are cool fuzzy ones it's like a craft aisle that's it all right guys we're gonna go and pay we're in Stockton we already left Fairfield we're on our way back to the church to get to Wednesday Bible study we're gonna get there in time I think we're gonna get there about two hours before all right so we have young adults we have youth if you can just go or where they going to the to the Spanish sanctuary youth and I know you have the kids going children going into the classrooms Children wanna come this way and release them as well. Just to let you guys know, restrooms are just down this open door to the right. It'll be the first door on the right once you go in there. Amen. How's everyone doing? Blessed. We've had this Bible study on Wednesdays

has been going since the beginning of House of Rest. Sometimes it's been at Crusader Park. Sometimes it's been in my living room. Sometimes it's been in other people's living rooms. And I just want that back. And I know, at the same time, I don't wanna rob people that watch us online. So it's like, I gotta have this equipment around me because I don't wanna leave them out because there's so many people. You know, last week, we had over 700 views from our Bible study last week. And that is a blessing. And that doesn't even count the thousands that as we know, Pando and Edovo that are incarcerated. I won't know those numbers. Well, actually, I did check the numbers. I think, actually, I don't remember how much. But I just wanna thank you all for coming and being a part of this and being a part of what we're doing here. I'm really excited about it, really excited what God is doing. And I just appreciate each and every one of you, everybody that's here. I just wanna remind you also that if this is your church, if this is your church that you want to be a disciple, that where you wanna grow at, we offer discipleship classes that we do.

There are six classes and it's just, yeah, each one is one hour. So it's over six weeks. And once we complete that, we start all over. So you can jump in anytime. You don't have to wait until class one. It's just like jump rope and you just kinda jump in. And if you happen to start in class three, then that's fine. And then just cycle all the way through. You're given a card to keep track. Yeah, you're given a little card and you mark it to keep track and you get put on a text and an email. So we remind you and we remind you not only about the class, but we remind you which class it is that week. Because you're like, man, I did them all except I missed one. And that way you'll know. Once you complete all six, I take you off of the rotation of the text. But yeah, if that's something you're interested in. And even if you just wanna take the classes, just because they're really, really good Christian foundational classes that help you just in your walk. So everybody's invited to that also. let's get back to this all right uh... Ms. Bauerhez, Lord God we thank you so much for this opportunity to share to read your word your precious word I pray for each and every uh... person here every man every woman every child that came every young person every young adult Lord we thank you and uh... we pray for our hearts to be open and our minds to be open to receive what you have for us today as we read through first Corinthians Lord we thank you in Jesus name amen all right Marcello Vargas thank you brother thank you so much you get that one right there so uh... back to this we are in first Corinthians chapter first Corinthians chapter two and uh... just a little insight into this I want this to be to where you guys can, this is interactive guys this ain't just everybody staying quiet and and but all I ask is that it pertains to the study if it pertains to the study and then you know I want you to share because sometimes maybe you have a question that I haven't answered or maybe you have something that I don't know that we don't know and we could all learn from each other so that helps a lot if you do that and um... and it just keeps, we want to have an interactive study because if we're sitting in a

living room somewhere because I consider House of Rest a church, a house church that happens to be in a living room and uh... and we want to be interactive and that way everybody's involved and and we don't want you to stay quiet we don't want you to leave with a question we want to try to you know hit that question you know so uh... Corinthian church, the church in Corinth if you guys remember it was it was a really wayward church and the Apostle Paul usually he would establish churches in a few weeks he would go hit a city evangelize bring them to Christ, raise up leaders and keep it moving and leave a church there but the Corinthian church in Corinth was off the hook and he had to stay there for a year and a half and even after a year and a half he went away and he got a letter saying man everything's going wrong that could go wrong so he sent this so when we're reading first Corinthians we're reading a letter from Paul to the church and he's talking about many of the issues of what was happening there so I'm going to go ahead and go ahead and uh... chapter two verse one it says we're going to read one and two

it says and I when I came to you brothers did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom for I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified I'm going to read it in the message we're going to talk about it it says you'll hold on my screen turned off it says you'll remember friends that when I first came to you to let you in on God's sheer genius I didn't try to impress you with polished speeches and the latest philosophy I deliberately kept it plain and simple first Jesus and who he is then Jesus and what he did Jesus crucified I love this right because not only was stuff happening after he left this church established but other leaders were coming trying to disrupt what he had put together and Paul wasn't somebody that it seems in Paul's letters he wasn't somebody that was very exciting was knowledgeable he had the spirit of God but have you ever heard like really good public speakers and you're just like wow and then at their while somebody says what did you learn you're like I don't know if I learned anything

I just got really excited man they just knew how to talk and you how to stir me up you know and what's that yeah salesman right yeah and so he would just like listen guys he goes I'm not trying to impress you I don't have these beautiful words and beautiful speeches and this philosophy I'm gonna keep it plain and simple I'm gonna tell you who Jesus is is and I'm gonna tell you what he did because that's the main message when we when we take all the the fluff off of it when we get down to the nitty-gritty and get to the meat of it and get rid of the salad and all that stuff he's like I'm just here to tell you who Jesus is and what Jesus did and that should be our ultimate message everywhere we go yes we have great sermons about Nehemiah Jeremiah or this or that but ultimately that's why every message ends with the salvation call because we want to bring people to Christ to get to know Jesus you know and that's the most important thing and I love the fact that he's saying this in verses 3 through 5 he continues on he says and I I'm sorry 3 and I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling verse 4 and my speech and my message were not implausible words of wisdom but in demonstration of the spirit and of power so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God I'm gonna read it we're gonna talk about it but I'm gonna read it in the message Bible he's I love this he says I was unsure of how to go about this and felt totally inadequate I was scared to death if you want to know the truth of it and so nothing I said could have impressed you or anyone else but the message came through anyway God's Spirit and God's power did it which made it clear that your life of faith is a response to God's power not to some fancy mental or emotional footwork by me or anyone else you got to remember he helped established his church and he's trying to share his heart and he's like guys I I didn't sell you a bill of goods I didn't try to just stir you up out of just great words matter of fact he says I was nervous I was scared he was and even in my fear the power of God came through you know and ultimately guys it doesn't matter how nice our church building can be it doesn't matter how fancy of a suit we have or eloquent words or anything it's

about the power of God the power of God can move in somebody's basement the power of God can move in a megachurch the power of God can move in a living room it's ultimately it's not about the sermon or the words it's about the power behind it and I think sometimes we get too much into our own heads where we're just like well I don't know how to say the right words I don't know how to do this I don't know how to do that but ultimately it's the Spirit of God God is going to give you where sometimes you're just like let's say you're talking to one person in ministry to them and in the middle you're just like man I sound really dumb right now but all of a sudden you see tear come down that person's face let me tell you it ain't your words it's the fact of God is moving maybe you said something that meant nothing to you but to them it was exactly what they needed to hear and that's how you know it wasn't your words it was it was listening to what the Word of God what God was saying for you to say even though it makes no sense to you and you're just saying it perfect example on Sunday I made a mistake and read a wrong verse I thought but that verse fit it fit the message exactly and how do I know who am I to not I said to read it anyways remember that because somebody needed to hear that verse and it happened to fit right into the message these are what I'm talking about my mistake I thought but the Holy Ghost is like no it was your mistake not to put that verse we just have to trust in the Lord and the things that the Lord is saying you know so I have a question why do you think Paul intentionally avoided impressive speech and focused only on Jesus Christ and him crucified why do you think that if anybody why do you think that he intentionally avoided those things like what do you think huh yeah the port city yeah so you get the simple basic and be able to touch everybody's heart yeah right he was a Pharisee he knew a lot of stuff yeah and he didn't want those people to view him as that oh that's good that's good that's real good yeah I think both of you are right how many of you have ever gone somewhere or or and you can tell the speakers trying to impress you by their Greek words and Hebrew and I love that I love when we go deep into those

so don't get me wrong but you're just like dude I feel like you're trying to talk over me just talk to me you know don't try to impress me you know or even in a conversation and somebody's just throwing all kinds of verses at you you know and you can be broken you're just like man you know what I think my marriage is falling apart and I think and they're just start just shoving scripture yeah you know and you're like yeah that's great but I'm broken right now you know Jesus would talk to people in their brokenness now he didn't talk to you in your pity party he didn't do that because he told Elijah come out of the cave stand like a man so he's not gonna talk in pity party but at the same time he's gonna talk into your brokenness and and his idea though is to reach you the way Peter was walking on the water what did Jesus do immediately he pulled him out he did imagine Peter saying I'm drowning and the Lord start throwing scripture at him but what does scripture say yeah exactly where's your faith now drowning boy he didn't say that yeah what did he do he immediately reached out and pulled Peter up and I think in ministry we have to remember that Bible knowledge all this stuff amazing it's powerful but sometimes we just need to reach that person where they're at and I think that's what Paul was doing that's why he says I'm not trying to impress you with polished speeches and the latest philosophy I deliberately kept it plain find Jesus first Jesus who he is and in Jesus what he did I don't me personally some of you like debating I don't like debating people to me for the most part it's a waste of time I remember one time when I was young in the Lord this guy was debating me I fell for the bait and then it hit me in the middle of it I'm gonna sit hold on wait a second if I convincingly gave you evidence of what it is you're asking for the resurrection of Christ if you had ever you had a video camera of him resurrecting would you surrender to the Lord and he says no I said then why are we having a conversation we're wasting time he basically said even if he knew it was true hands down he was an atheist and what I'm just like so I have come to the conclusions that when people want to debate so here's the

thing what I do do some sometimes is if somebody wants to sister Lisa thank you thank you so much for the super cat amen so what I do is I try to bring it back to Jesus somebody says well if Cain and Abel and Cain killed Abel and he went and then he got married who did he marry that doesn't make sense I thought they were the only ones and I'm like does who he married change the fact that you're going to hell if you don't give your life to the Lord? You know, well I don't know of Jonah, a lot of that seems weird, giant fish and this and that. Does that change the gospel message? You know, I won't even argue about Jesus walking on the water because the Bible says that it's the blind leading the blind. So I'm not even gonna go, you're gonna always bring it back to Jesus, no matter what. Bring it back to the cross, bring it back to the resurrection. Anyways, so what builds deeper faith? Inspiration or truth? Truth. Now if truth inspires people, praise God, but we don't want to inspire people with no truth, just to be a great speaker, just to make everybody like you. You know, we have to be careful with that. And another question is, if Paul preached today, would his style be considered successful? You know, I doubt Paul would have a mega church today. Even though he has all the degrees, he had all, he was a Pharisee, he was well-learned, he was under Gamaliel, who Gamaliel was a huge scholar, huge Pharisee, but Paul's like, I'm not gonna rely on that, like you said brother. He's like, I'm gonna rely on the power of God. You know, and would Paul get asked to preach at conventions? I doubt it. Yeah, yeah, because he used to rely on his education, he relied on his knowledge, and he's like, that didn't save me. Running into Jesus saved me, you know, and that's got to go for all of us, you know, I think that we can't, you know, it's nice to be able to have a great vocabulary and speak things and all that, but ultimately, God can use who he wants. You don't have to say, well, let me learn Hebrew, let me learn Greek, let me do this, let me do that. Man, just share Jesus. Yeah, he's a donkey, right? Yeah, sometimes I look in the mirror and I see that donkey. Am I the only one? Paul says faith should rest in God's power. What does it look like when faith rests in something else, right? Sometimes we want to put

our faith in other things and not the power of God, in our own thoughts, in our own money, in our own whatever, you know, and we have to be careful with that and be like Paul, because Paul's like, I'm gonna put my faith in the power of God, not nothing else. Just a little footnote, don't ever put faith on, for instance, God heals, we know that, but people die every day. Don't ever put your faith on the healing. Put your faith on the healer, you know, and that's a big difference. I have prayed for people in ICUs and a week later I'm doing their funeral. I have prayed for people in ICUs with the doctors telling the family, say goodbye, and they're alive today. So I can't make anybody rise up, but what I can do is follow his word. He says lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. Guess what? I can lay hands on the sick, you can lay on the sick, but the recovery part is whose? His. The last thing I want to do is in the end of my life, God said, I had put a thousand people in front of you to lay your hands on them. You didn't do it. And I'm like, but God, I don't know, you know, not everybody raises. He goes, I would have raised half of them. What if God, out of the thousand, what if God were to raise one of them? And you might think that's one, but what does that one mean to that family? What does that one mean to that person? You know, so... Exactly. What if that one would have reached a million souls? You're right. Wow. You know, so yeah. Verse 6 through 10. Verse 6 through 10 says this. It says, Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age, or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. Nine. But as it is written, what no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him. Verse 10. These things God has revealed to us through the Spirit, and the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. Let me read this in the message. Same thing, but in the message, it says, We of course have plenty of wisdom to pass on to you, once you get your feet on firm spiritual ground. But it's not popular wisdom. The fashionable wisdom of high-priced experts that will be out of date in a year or so.

God's wisdom is something mysterious that goes deep into the interior of his perfect of his purposes. You don't find it lying around on the surface. It's not the latest message, but more like the oldest. What God determined as a way to bring out his best in us, long before we ever arrived on the scene. The experts of our day haven't a clue about what this eternal plan is. If they had, they wouldn't have killed the master of the God-designed life on a cross. That's why we have this scripture text. No one has ever seen or heard anything like it. Never so much as imagine anything quite like it. What God has arranged for those who love him. But you've seen it and heard it, because God by his Spirit has brought it all out into the open before you. So Paul is saying there's a wisdom of this world. You know, you watch Oprah, you watch this, you watch that. It's like, wow, she's so wise. And then there's the wisdom of God. The wisdom of God is different from the wisdom of this world. And what's crazy is the fact that so many Christians seek after the wisdom of the world. And the wisdom of God maybe doesn't make sense to the average person. But there's a scripture that says that the Spirit bears witness. That the Spirit of God in you is in accord with what God says. Have you ever talked to family, they're not believers, you're going through something, they're trying to give you advice, you didn't ask for it, on how to raise your kids, on how to be with your spouse, on how to whatever it is. But God is saying something different, because God sees the law, but he sees the law of the world. Because God sees the law, but he sees in a distance. And people are like, what are you doing? It makes no sense. Because the wisdom of God will not make sense to the lost. And so Paul is, why is he saying this to the church in Corinth? Because remember, for a year and a half he established his church, and then he goes away, and he hears a bunch of problems that we haven't even addressed many of them yet. And he's like, why are you trying to fix things that you started in Christ, but now you're going back to the world to fix it? Now you're going back to worldly wisdom. You know, and this whole thing, there's a lot of Christians, when we go through things, we're just like, well, this is how I would have handled it before, blah, blah, blah. I thought you were new in Christ. What does it matter how you would handle it before? A lot of us would handle stuff different before, but we're not here to handle things the way we used to. We're now to handle things in the wisdom of God. So I think what happened is the

church in Corinth got real comfortable so they wanted to handle things that were going on in the church because this church was just off the hook. All kinds of crazy stuff was happening and they were resorting back to their old wisdom their old ways of doing things of handling things and it just it just it sounds stupid it sounds dumb and and and I see it happen today in our churches in America and our churches probably everywhere because I even hear Pastor Thomas he wrote a book an amazing book that we help him publish and he talks about so many things that have happened in his church that should have destroyed him and he's trying to share this stuff as a pastor this stuff happens this stuff there's gonna be betrayal there's gonna be backstabbing it's gonna be this is gonna be that you know and I remember years years ago I was telling this pastor before I even started House of Rest and I told them I'm gonna pastor a church and he says is there any way I can talk you out of it and he was a pastor still a pastor he is and I said yeah you won't be able to talk me out of it I'm kind of stubborn like that and after a while he after a couple dinners and coffees he said you know David he goes you sound very determined I think you're gonna pastor a church so let me give you my best advice he said everything you know all your biblical knowledge blessing all the stuff you know when you pastor you start to get hit with real stuff and real issues and people that are really hurting and really going through stuff and people are gonna treat you like their trash can because they have all of this stuff and they have to dump it and what better than to dump it on their pastor he said you have to remember something you are not their personal trash can he goes in your job is not to sit in that garbage your job is to take their stuff and bring it to the feet of the cross he goes because if not in five years you will be the most bitter angry depressed pastor in the world because you're holding the weight that was never for never for you to hold on to he's you needed to lay it at the feet of the cross because if not it'll destroy you I think many many men in your household you hold the weight of your children and your wife sometimes your wife doesn't know how you're gonna make it you don't

know how you're gonna make it but you don't want her to see that and if she sees you freak out she's really gonna freak out and what do you do as men we're like it's gonna be alright babe and as soon as she walks away just like God I have no idea what's gonna happen like I don't know what to do Lord we take it to our father because if I hold on to it try to figure it out I'm gonna think dumb and think my old way yeah and my wife never knows how many times I go to the feet of the Lord and so I have no idea what to do I just told her everything's gonna be alright I told her we're gonna figure out how to pay the bill I told her this I told her that God I have no idea I got no answers I don't know what to do I need your peace I need your comfort I need your wisdom I need answers see that's what our Father in heaven wants us to do he wants us to take it to him Lord I don't want to go to experts I want to go to you because you're my master you know all things I can go to an expert they could give me some worldly wisdom but you know where I'm gonna be in five years you know where I'm gonna be in ten years I need I need wisdom that's gonna withstand that the time and so I believe that he's trying to impart to them and tell them like listen Corinth you're falling apart because somehow somewhere along the line you resorted to your old way of thinking and to the old way of doing things and that's a constant pull I believe that's a constant pull for all of us every day every week every month you know the decision sometimes you have of like man I was out late Saturday man I don't really want to go to church you know what you ain't the only one that thinks that sometimes I don't want to show up well not because I don't love the Lord because sometimes that little thought creeps in where the enemy wants to say man what are you really doing what do you think you're really doing blah blah blah this and that whatever and I'm just like and then I realize it and I now I realize it quick before I would actually let it ponder in my head now I'm just like shut up Satan

somebody you know what because you're trying to do that means somebody's gonna get saved today that means somebody's gonna get healed today somebody is gonna get revived somebody's gonna get reignited today matter of fact because you're a liar so the fact that you're trying to stop what's gonna happen lets me know something's gonna happen and I just like and I then I my prayer to God is Lord let me only know your voice because if the Bible says that my sheep know my voice and I just wanna know his voice who cares about anybody else's voice right you know I have talked to pastors and they're trying to figure out a ways how to how to capture the audience and how to cap I'm like first of all they're a congregation not an audience and how to do this and how to do that and and whatnot and and for me it was really easy because you're never going to get a perfect message sermon or whatever to please everybody in the house you're not so it's a waste of time to try to please every just like for instance if I wanna be a recording artist and I want everybody to buy my album but you like country you like rap you like punk rock you like heavy metal so no matter what I sing some of you aren't gonna like my song and that's what that when you in ministry when you minister it'll drive you nuts to try to please everybody so I have came down to this Lord I wanna write a message and say a message that pleases you that's it yeah you please God if you do a message that pleases God the power of God will move on the hearts of the people listening so you so okay you're not a preacher but what if you live your life in a way that doesn't please everybody cuz I guarantee you there's right now people people see your Facebook post there's people in your own family that hate on you

every successful thing you do they're mad they don't like it they're mad so instead of being a people pleaser be a God pleaser and please the Lord and when you please the Lord the power of God moves because Paul is not allowing anything to get in a way where he's just like I I'm not gonna trust in myself in my fancy words or non fancy words or the way I talk or the way I don't talk I'm just gonna pray for the power of God to move that's it you know I love the moments we had an amazing altar call Sunday I promise you nowhere was there plans I didn't sit with the worship team before service and say hey guys this is like the finale of the Holy Ghost and we got to really like like ramp this thing up and get the emotions going and and let's do this and I'll get the shofar and just people feel the butterflies and like that that's acting that is saying God you can't do it so we'll do it no we just trust in the power of God to move that's how we should live our lives and that's what Paul is trying to tell the church here so let's read 14 through oh wait am I jumping ahead my page skipped here sorry oh yeah let's do 11 through 13 it says for who knows a person's thoughts oh wait actually let's back up verse 10

these things God has revealed to us through the spirit for the spirit searches everything even the depths of God and the message it says the spirit not content to flit around on the surface dives into the depths of God and brings out what God planned all along I love that I love that right because a lot of times as I don't know what it is about us humans we see weeds and we want to hit it with a weed whacker and the Lord is saying no let's pull it by the roots and we so we want to give band-aids right how many of you go to the doctor and you want to really figure out what's going on with your body and they just prescribe you a medicine, right? And you know, you know in your heart that medicine is nothing but a band-aid. And medicine is okay if it's because, okay I get that but are we going to get to the root of what's going on with me? But you know, pharmaceutical company rather have you on pills for the rest of your life because that's better for them. Why cure you? Why cure you if you could just take this certain medicine for the rest of your life and they're getting rich? You know, so in the same way, unfortunately, this is tending to leak into the church and then we just want to, we just want to get a weed whacker and cut the weeds down so you can be, learn Christianese and learn to tithe and learn to attend and learn to show up and maybe you volunteer

somewhere in the church and we just keep weed whacking and weed whacking and the Lord's like, no I'm in the business of pulling roots. Let's get to the root of this thing. What is causing this to happen? What is causing? I don't want to give a band-aid. See, the Lord is not into giving band-aids. He's the healer. He's the cure and he just wants to bring healing and so in verse 10, I'm gonna read it again. These things God has revealed to us through the Spirit, for the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. Abran Rodriguez, thank you brother for that super chat. All we can do is give band-aids but if we take people to Jesus then they can be healed because he's the healer, him and him alone. So now let's go

to verse 11 through 13. It says, for who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person which is in him. So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God that we might understand the things freely given us by God. Verse 13, and we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit. Interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. Yeah, the Holy Spirit brings conviction. We can bypass that conviction, but then once we don't get convicted we're never comforted because he's also called the comforter. So unless you get the convictions, not the condemnation because there's two different things, right? In the Spirit we condemn ourselves, in our spirit, for our thoughts. I mean, I always have a problem with condemning myself. You did that, or you should have said this, or you missed that person, or you didn't do this, you didn't do that. But the Spirit of God actually convicts me and comforts me and says, no, you don't need to do all that. You're greater as he that is in thee than he that is in the world. We can always all be in Christ as victors. Hear the head and not the tail. All those words of no from God. You know, I didn't read the message yet, have I? For that? No. Well, let me read how it says it real quick. But you're right, Joaquin. It says, whoever knows what you're

thinking and planning, well, whoever knows what you're planning and thinking except you yourself. And the same with God. Except that he not only knows what he's thinking, but he lets us in on it. And God offers a full report. on the gifts of life and salvation that he is giving us. We don't have to rely on the world's guesses and opinions. We didn't learn this by reading books or going to school. We learned it from God, who taught us person to person through Jesus. And we're passing it on to you in the same firsthand personal way. So I love that because it's like, again, he's trying to get somewhere and it's gonna make more sense as we, in the following weeks when he starts talking about the issues that the church in Corinth is having, it's gonna make more sense why he's saying this, because this is like his introduction to what he's gonna say, because he's gonna get kind of very specific on the problems that were happening there. But he keeps going back to this reoccurring theme of why are you relying on the wisdom of the world for? It doesn't make sense. You know, it doesn't make sense. And he's like, we need to understand that we can't understand God, but God understands us. That the spirit that we have, amen.

This is why, have you ever heard the term the spirit bears witness? Or all of a sudden, I've had people walk up to me in a store and say, you're a believer, aren't you? And I look to see if I'm wearing a Christian shirt or something, you know, I'm like. When you walk in the spirit of God, you will sense the spirit in other people. You know, and that makes me think of this verse. It says we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom, but taught by the spirit. Interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. So things that don't make sense to somebody that's not in Christ are gonna make perfect sense to those who are in Christ. We have a different wisdom because we're not relying on wisdom of men, but on the wisdom of God. You know, and so we have to keep that in mind at all times. At all times. Yeah.

It's a real big freedom, you know, the wisdom of God. It's the wisdom of man. As a mantra, it feels like it's always like a ball and chain. Yeah. Kind of like, I know when we would get released from prison or something, they'd be like, look at you shining. And even when you get out, you have a different aura on you. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? And that's the word that I was gonna use. It's freedom. You're happy to be out in your soul. You're humbled by being out. You're humbled by it. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. But in this case, it's Jesus shining through you. It's just you're shining your aura. It's him all over you. Amen. Yeah. Well, I like that, man. It was just, the Lord is so much wiser. Sometimes I've ignored his wisdom and I fall flat on my face. Sometimes I listen to his wisdom, even though at that moment it didn't make sense.

But then later on, it made sense. You know? And it's like, you're just like, you're gonna make a move in your career, in your job, in your marriage, in your life, in your health. And God says, cause you're just like, I think this is the best way to do it. And the Lord says, no, I want you to go this way. And you actually argue with God. God, that doesn't make no sense because I think this job is the best because this job I'll get promoted and blah, blah, blah, this and that, whatever. But then, all right, God, I'm just gonna trust you. This doesn't make any sense. But then you see somebody take that job and just, it goes all bad. And you're just like, wow, I missed the car wreck. You know? And then, this, what didn't make sense, things start to fall in line. Anybody ever happen to, anybody? Things just fall in line, you know? And because we're listening to the wisdom of God. He has wisdom. He has insight that we don't. the world can't give you insight the way the Lord does. He will always have the better insight. Okay, so verse 14 through 16. It says, The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not

able to understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. Verse 16, For he who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him, but we have the mind of Christ. Now this is a bombshell guys. I want to read in a message, but this is powerful here. In the message Bible says, The unspiritual self, just as it is by nature, can't receive the gifts of God's Spirit. Think about that. So when we're walking in the flesh, when we're trying to do things by our worldly wisdom, we can't receive the gifts from God. We're blocking our own self. That's insane. I was just reading about a supplement, creatine. Anybody ever heard of creatine? Okay. A lot of people put creatine in their coffee. Mistake number one. Do you know coffee does the opposite of what creatine does? So you're basically putting creatine in the very thing that fights what creatine is trying to do in your body. Yeah. So it says you can drink coffee, but keep it an hour away from each other. Why do I say that? Because sometimes we're trying to do something in the flesh, but it's blocking the gifts that God's trying to give you. We block ourselves. You don't need haters. You're hating on yourself. Some of us think you got haters, but it's the one in the mirror. I'm going to read it again. Yeah. We are our worst enemies. I think we hurt ourselves more than other people hurt us. At least, I mean, I do. So again, I'm going to read that again in the ESV. The natural person in the flesh does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him. In other words, they don't make sense. I'll give you a perfect example. Lord, there's a lot of things that we pray for and ask for, but the Lord says, He says, let tomorrow worry for itself, for instance. But we're worried about tomorrow, worried about tomorrow, worried about tomorrow, worried about tomorrow, trying to make things happen, trying to figure things out, trying to scheme, trying to make things, and nothing happens. And the Lord is saying, and then you're like, God, why is everything messing up? He says, I literally told you, don't worry about tomorrow. So when you're worried about tomorrow, you're telling me that you don't want me to step into it. God's a gentleman. If you

think you can do it on your own, He says, go for it. So we're working against ourselves. That's why He says, the natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, for he's not able to understand them because they're spiritually discerned. And in the message it says, we can't receive the gifts of God. There's no capacity for them. They seem like silliness. Spirit can be known only by the Spirit. So think about this. All of us are three. We have our flesh, our soul, and our spirit, right? So how many of you used to have dial-up internet service? Those of you that are, I'm gonna age you guys, right? The AOL? Like, these young people don't know what it was like. And the moment somebody will call, you lose connection, right? You have to redo it all over again. Because it had to have that phone line plugged in. So imagine you're trying to get internet back then, but instead of plugging the phone line in, you're trying to do without it. How about this? How about trying to get service on your phone but you have it in airplane mode and you're frustrated because you can't get online but you have the airplane mode. You're blocking yourself dude. You're not going to get through no matter what you do until you take it off airplane mode or until you plug that phone line in to dial up you're not going to get anywhere. There's no capacity for it. It's not going to work. It's just not going to. Don't get mad when you run out of gas because your car won't start. It's not going to work. Spirit can only be known by spirit. In other words the spirit is not going to speak to you through your flesh. There's no capacity for it. It doesn't fit. It doesn't plug in. It doesn't work. Spirit needs to plug to your spirit. That's the conduit. That's the connection there and a lot of us sometimes we want to operate Holy Spirit work in me but you're approaching him in your flesh and he's like I can't operate in that but the spirit is known by the Spirit. God's Spirit and our spirit and open communion. That's why it says in 15 the spiritual person judges all things but he himself wait I'm sorry back in 14 he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. They're not compatible. It's not compatible. It

doesn't fit together. Why do you think that when you talk to a non-believer and you start to share the things of God they can't understand where you're coming from because their spirit is dead and they're trying to they're trying to hear you through their flesh and you're speaking through the Spirit and they're just like you're talking Chinese to me dude yeah brother yeah yeah perfect example yeah they didn't understand what he was saying they didn't get it but I like it says in 16 for who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him but we have the mind of Christ and this is this is what I want to finish that right here before we get into prayer Paul is not only saying that the Spirit of God has wisdom but he's letting them know do you realize that because Christ lives in you you now have the mind of Christ you have the mind of Christ see people always say well I can't trust the heart because the Bible says that the heart is utterly wicked that's Old Testament are you sure that's a proper quote now boy I can't trust my heart because the Bible says that the heart is utterly wicked doesn't the scripture say that he'll take out your heart of stone and put in a heart of flesh and put my spirit in you so if you are in Christ if you are washed in his blood if you are sanctified holy set apart for him and you're still saying your heart's wicked so what you're saying is that he did heart surgery and gave you a bad heart Bible says God gives you good things so Satan will have you believe that your heart is still wicked and if your heart is still wicked and you believe it then you will be wicked but if you believe his word he says I change you you're a new creation Christ all things have passed away all things have become you so either you're gonna believe that and receive it or you're gonna believe what the flesh says I refuse to live on what Satan says about my past I live in who I am in the future now you want to learn to walk in the power of the Holy Ghost to start to actually believe what the Bible says about you this is one of them this is one of this is we have the mind of Christ so if we have the mind of Christ I don't need worldly wisdom if we have the mind of Christ then my wisdom is the Lord you know the Bible says in the Old Testament that that God is knowledge and

he is wisdom so some of us when we say Lord give me wisdom you're at you're praying the wrong thing because he doesn't have he doesn't like break a piece of himself and give you wisdom he is wisdom so instead of asking for wisdom say Lord I need you because You are my wisdom. You are my knowledge. You are the healer. You are my redeemer. You are those things. So it's not like we're asking for wisdom or those things. We're asking for Him. And He fulfills those things in you.
