Christ Un-barred - EP 108 - Lake Tahoe Bike Ride

Alright. We're back! That was spooky. I know, that was weird. That was from the Poltergeists, remember that old school movie? I think it was the 70s? Was it the 70s or 80s? I don't know, but did people die from that movie? I was little. I don't know. I don't know nothing. I don't like scary movies. I was little too, so that's why I'm thinking it was the 70s. You know, I just noticed my hair is long already. My hair is getting long. Mine too. It grew back fast. This wire is like, wait. On your nerves or it's not pulling enough? I needed slack. There it goes. Alright. Alright. So here's the thing, no excuse, there was so much footage of our trip that we didn't of our trip. There was no way that we would have been able to show all the footage we wanted to, plus did letter reading. Because it wouldn't have fit. It wouldn't have fit on the, because I'm only limited up to how much information I could upload.

But I'm sure they loved the road trips though. Yeah, so that's why you've got the both road trips back to back. Don't deny it. It didn't have us doing a letter reading, but I know you guys like it anyways. My hat, I've been wearing it since. It's just straight out of Montana. Aw man, I should have worn my hat. What hat? My Montana hat. Oh, that's right. I had a Montana hat too. No, it was yellow still. Still? It was a hat from the trip. I remember, because it was in the backseat right now when I opened the door. I know. I would have worn mine too. So anyways, I'm pretty sure you guys enjoyed it. Our trip through Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. You know, I have not been to all 50 states, but Montana is a beautiful state. Oh, I loved it. It was amazing. I mean, I've never been Hawaii. I've heard it's beautiful there. I've never. I've been there. I've been told from Brother Vince that Oregon, is that where you're from? Oregon. It's beautiful. I see some of the pictures, but me personally, Montana is a beautiful state.

Really, really nice. So. Is your throat okay? Yeah, I don't know. I just chugged that ice drink right there. So you guys got to meet my little sister. It was such a bittersweet moment, guys. It was amazing because there was moments in. I don't like that. Babe, just leave it alone. Stop it. Guys, he's in a driving nuts. Anyways, it was just awesome because, you know, we were supposed to drive up to go visit her. And I remember that she really, it was on her bucket list. It was on their bucket list, her and her husband's bucket list to go to Montana and to go see the falls and to go, to go see that, that colorful thing that we've seen. The prismatic. The prismatic. The prismatic. What was it called? Prismatic. Springs. Springs. The prismatic spring. He did take her, but didn't take her to all those places. Yeah. He didn't take her to the top. And there were just like different things that they didn't get a chance to do. And she was like, you know, I really want to do these things.

And why is Jesus laying down? Pick him up. And so there were just like little things that they didn't get a chance to do. And she's like, I really want to do them. And we're like, well, if we go and we get you, you're not going to be able to do them. You're only four hours away. So why don't we just keep driving and we'll go do this with you? And she was like, yes, can we? And we said, yes, let's do it. So we were really honored, honored, honored, honored to just have been able to go and do this. So the crazy thing is that when we got over there, there was like two two parts where, you know, she was like, you know, um, there's one area where we just got to go. We just got to park and we get off and we just go look. And we're like, OK, so I was in sandals. You were in your boots. Right. All I wear is boots. Yeah. So we're like, OK. So we got off and she's like, yeah, it's just, you know, we're just going to get off and we're just going to walk to this little area. Because it said it's a short walk. Yeah. It said that it was a short walk. So we get off to see this waterfall. Yeah. To see a waterfall. And we're just like, OK, so we're walking. And we're walking more. And then we're walking more. And I'm like, OK, this is really far here. And I'm in sandals and David's in his boots and we're walking.

And then we get to a certain point where it starts to elevate you guys like we got to do some hiking and the incline and the incline starts going higher and higher. And I'm like, OK, now we're really hiking here. And I'm not a hiker. David's not a hiker. We don't we didn't want to go hike. And so we start inclining really, really a lot. And I'm just like, OK, you guys see it. It's on day two. But I don't think the camera gives it justice on the incline. It's the one where I think we're walking away. It shows a close up of me walking with my boots that that waterfall. Yeah, it started to go really super high. And I was and it was a pretty long, a pretty long walk, guys. It was a few. What was it? It wasn't that long. It was far for us. Far for us. It was it was over a mile. That's that's which is nothing for hikers, nothing for hikers. But for us, non hikers, it was a lot. Yeah, but I'll ride my bike 30 miles. But yeah, don't ask me to walk uphill for a mile now. No, especially for me in sandals. I was just not having it. But guys, we did it. We made it up there and it was just beautiful. But you know what? I did it for Jason and Cynthia. And I was just it was a blessing.

It was beautiful. And then the next day we did it all over again. Once again, she wanted to see that prismatic the spring spring. It's real colorful. You guys saw that on video, too. And once again, she's all it's just right here. And man, that was a long walk. And that was a really, really tall hike further. Yeah, that one was much further. And that was a hike as well. Really, really high as well. And I'll tell you, that one was a hike as well. So I if it wasn't my sister, I wouldn't have done it. But but because it was her, of course, I did it. It was really nice. So that water is this it reaches 200 degrees. Yeah. Like, you know, if you fall in, you'll die. I think there has been there has been a few people have fallen. People have died. And then animals, a lot of animals, a buffalo went through. Not when we were there, but I looked on YouTube. They showed a buffalo walking through there because apparently buffaloes hooves don't have any nerves. So they can't feel the heat. Really? Yeah. So by the time he fell in, it was too late. And he just died. Wow. Wow. 200 degrees. So sad. Yeah. But but it is beautiful, though. It is such a beautiful, beautiful state. We just loved it every moment.

I think the most beautiful part of it were the conversations, just spending time together and the conversations that we had. There were so many God moments with my niece, with my sister, just going into a little mom pop shop and just sitting down and having a fresh piece of pie and just sitting there and just talking. I think she just we needed that. She needed that. And just the moments of just walking and just talking and just spending the time together. I think that was just beautiful. And I think last before we get into the letters is they probably want to hear what was up with you guys hanging out the window story. You know, I would have never done that, guys. Video one, the first time that we did it, I was so scared. I was really scared to do that. And if it wasn't for her, as you guys seen, I was like double necked at the first one, you know, and she was just like, come on, sister. Just do this with me. Just do this to me. I just want to feel free. And and I held on and I didn't even hold her hand. The first time, I was just like, OK, I'm going to try this. And I did that with her. Once again, I did that for her. You know, we were just having one of those moments. And she's like, you know, we'll never get to do this ever again. Just do this with me. And I did it with her. And I came in right away. But the next time, you know, she was like, I'm so proud of you.

But I regret not holding your hand. I want to hold your hand. And you know what, I did it again. And this time, I was like, I'm not going to have fear. And I'm not going to be scared. And I'm just going to do it and hold my little sister's hand. And I did it. And it felt so beautiful to just hold her hand. And I did it, you know. And it felt amazing. So I hope that you guys enjoyed seeing that. Because, you know, I've always been like a second mama figure to my little sister. And it just felt amazing to be able to do that with her. Yeah. So the last thing, actually, before I read the letters, is today's video is actually going to have the bike ride in Lake Tahoe that I did with Luis, who you guys know did 20 years. And that's Sharon's brother. So we got back from all this road trip from the States on a Thursday, went to a Grace leadership meeting on Friday. And the next day, we went to Lake Tahoe to do that 22-mile bike ride. Now, 22 miles, that's a good stretch here in the valley. Because here, it's flat. 22 miles in Lake Tahoe is a whole different story. You're talking 4,000 or 5,000 feet up. So the air is thinner. And it is not flat.

The oxygen is much different. It is not flat at all. So we wanted to share that with you. And don't even ask me why. Because I had not watched it until we were at home. And I watched it the other day. He had me bawling. The music that he chose, I was like, seriously, David? I was like, the music was just so, I don't know. It was very sentimental. It did something to my heart. But man, that music had me bawling. Because I just realized, like, my brother's free. And I was just, like, to see him riding that bike. And my prayer is for many of you to be able to do that one day. And that's my prayer for you. And we wanted, obviously, we love cycling. And we love the fact that he ended up falling in love with the sport, or hobby, whatever you want to call it. And your mom had said she would buy a bike. Because we're really good at finding used bikes. Yes. On Facebook, guys, there's this thing called Facebook Marketplace where you can post things you want to sell. And other people on Facebook can offer to buy it and whatnot. And there was this neighbor, literally, I didn't even know, it was like, what, a block and a half away? And he was selling, like, three bikes. And so we ended up talking to that guy.

And your mom got it. And it's a really good bike. That bike brand that he has is the same brand as my bike. Like, that's an expensive bike he has. And he got it for a couple hundred dollars. Yeah. My mom decided to send us the money so we can get it for him and surprise him. And it was almost like a $2,000 bike brand new. Yeah. He was just so excited and happy. And he's definitely using it. So guys, when you guys come home, look for something used. Don't buy new. Look for something used, for sure. Originally, I invited a larger group to do the ride with me. But little by little, people were busy. People couldn't do it. People just different reasons. I mean, Lake Tahoe is not close. It's a good two and a half. It took us three hours, actually. Yeah, to get there. But when it finally dwindled down, it was just me and Luis. But I think it was meant to be. So I was happy. I wasn't upset that nobody else showed up. It was exactly the way it should have been. Because then, after, we were able to have an intimate little picnic after.

And we all went by Lake Tahoe, by the lake. Yeah, we made sandwiches. And we just sat by the car. Yeah, there was so many people. Yeah, we just found somewhere to park the car. And I had taken stuff to make sandwiches and some chips and some fruit. And we just literally just sat in the parking lot. And we brought our chairs out. And we just sat there. And we just ate next to the car. And then we just walked a little and then made our way back home. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So guys, it's 20 minutes. None of us are talking. You might hear me or Luis yell something real quick. But honestly, I wanted to show you guys what it felt like. Like to ride these trails and that's probably one of them. That's I say that's the nicest trail I have ever done and And that's not easy to say because Monterey is beautiful But that Lake Tahoe trail is probably the best trail I have ever done, you know so anyways, hopefully you enjoy it and and it gives you a sense of freedom guys, you know, and And it gets it lets you escape, you know, yeah, and one last thing and if you're probably saying well I sent my letter some time ago. Well, yeah, we're backed up about a week guys You know about a whole week and a half two weeks possibly if your letters in this one praise God and if it's not it'll probably be in next week's because Yeah, you guys ended up getting some road trips. I mean, I know I don't know if you want to say something about that yeah, you know my oldest son is Is one of your older one of my older sons actually? my second oldest son is actually is is going through the exact same thing and I had to learn to to understand a lot of the changes in his life and everything and and be patient and Have a lot of grace and everything But I will say I will say this that I think he had to learn a lot about himself and He had to learn to be patient with himself, and I think that that's important

Because not only do others have to learn to have grace that you have to learn to have grace for yourself and Learn a lot about yourself as well. And I think that is number one Because a lot of the times we want others to be accepting we want others to be understanding But are you understanding? Are you forgiving of yourself? Are you understanding of yourself? I think that I think that that's important we have to be accepting of ourselves and I think that that's number one and I believe that the moment that he began to be accepting of himself and to love himself for who he is I Began to see him spread his wings and I think that that was so huge Because the moment I saw that He just flourished and Now something that I never thought that he would step out of the house and step out and do things for himself I'm seeing him flourish now. I'm seeing him, you know out there living life and and he's What 27 28 now going on 28 years old and I'm seeing him flourish and I'm so proud of him and and So I think that that's important you got to be able to look at yourself in the mirror and just be proud of who you are and the person that you Are and love yourself for who you are So I just wanted to share that with you because you know what Jesus made you so unique. questions let's see okay it's right here in the New Testament it talks about when Jesus came back he'll resurrect we will resurrect to heaven but other verses say that when we die we will be with Christ 2nd Corinthians 5 6 Philippians 1 20 25 so my question is is there two different parts where our spirit goes to God when we die and receive our new body when Christ returns to earth or do we sleep in the grave when Jesus returns we get both our spirit and new body good question that you're never gonna get everybody to agree on this one so basically one belief is that when we die we go to sleep and we wake up together later on it could be a hundred years from now a thousand years from now we all wake up together that's one belief the other belief is that the moment we die the moment the second our eyes close like the way you blink you open them in the presence of God and there's honestly there's to me there's very strong arguments for both but I'll tell you where I'm at but again that doesn't mean I'm correct I believe I lean more toward now I'm not gonna fight on the on this hill and say no I'm right but I lean toward more to be absent of this body to be present with the Lord to close my eyes in this world when I take my last breath I will inhale in the presence of God the you know so yeah so let's say that's true what I say how is that because the Bible says that the body resurrects later so remember that part when Jesus resurrected and he told the woman don't touch me my body is not yet glorified yeah remember that so to me that gives me a hint I'm not gonna say I'm a build a theology on this but it seems to be that your spirit who you are your soul is going to be bodiless in the spirit for a moment but for eternity we're gonna have a body again not this body that corrupts but a body like Adam and Eve had before the fall so at one time or another our bodies will rise and come back and it's gonna be a glorified body yeah so again I'm not gonna make a theology out of it or nothing but that's how I see things and the second question what do you think about if Christians should get tattoos nowhere in the Bible does it say that you can't because you can't use Old

Testament and I know that's the verse people go to because it says well you should not make you carve your skin and do basically but in that same paragraph it says also don't shave your beard this is a lot of other things but I don't agree with tattoos as a Christian I won't use the Old Testament as that but I will use this the Bible says I have a good testimony inside the church and outside the church the Bible says that I'm a new creation in Christ old things have passed away what all things have become new so why am I going to tattoo my body the way I did in the old life you see so it goes deeper than what the Old Testament says now do I have Christians here at house of rest that get tattoos a few do I shun them do I kick them out no I don't but I let people know that I do not agree with Christians getting tattoos I just don't you know I mean and the way I say is many times is like this is that why are you trying to be cool to the things of the world still you know I don't know how You want to say anything about that? So the moment you leave prison that currency means nothing

Well in the same thing when we when we stand in heaven and stand before God none your money not sure in life insurance Not none of that stuff transfers over the only thing our souls rich man and the poor man Have the same exact value. because i had been holding on to so much hurt and pain and i believe that that's where my healing the healing process did really begin that i wasn't angry at him still i was still angry at the action i was angry at the enemy i was angry at the devil because i realized that he was still a son he was still a son. He never had a chance. The enemy had had him bound. And because I understood that, I think that that's what hurt the most is that I see, I'm able to see that, you know, I'm able to see when somebody does something or anything, it's not them. It's the enemy that has them bound. So, you know, if people can see that and differentiate that it's the enemy that has them as puppets, then they can have grace and they can love somebody and they can pray for them and they can have grace. So, yeah, sometimes we got to be able to understand and pray for people and love them through things, you know, and that's how you're able to forgive people. Amen. They believe that Jesus is a lesser God than Jehovah, so that right in itself is completely different from us. We believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and a triune God. The Bible says that all three bear witness as one. There's not two, so that's the biggest difference from Jehovah Witness. I know another thing that Jehovah Witness believes that what we say is a Holy Spirit, they believe is a demon.
