Christ Un-barred - EP 110 - ROAD TRIP - Pacific Coast Highway
We hope you enjoy this amazing road trip to the Grace International Regional Conference in Orange CA, then a great conversation with pastor Rob McCoy. Then ending the video with a ride up the Pacific Coast Highway from Los Angeles to San Francisco. House of Rest Church 500 9th street B1, Modesto CA 95354
(upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) - All right. - All right, guys. So this is the beginning of this road trip, where are we going? We're going to the annual Grace International Regional Conference in Orange, California, which is in Orange County, which is eight minutes away from Disneyland. And we just had Sunday service,
and we're leaving to me and Sharon. You're not saying nothing? - Oh, well, you start that mid sentence. You said, "Me and Sharon," and then you just stopped. - You're supposed to continue. - Oh. - Well, it's me and wives. You're supposed to know what I'm saying. - Me and Sharon, me and David. (laughing) - Well. - So what are we looking forward to? - We are looking forward to, you know, we're looking forward to just receiving. We always look forward to that because, you know, a lot of the times, just being able to receive, you know, and I think that's the big part, you know, because I think a lot of the times we're always just over here. We're doing, and we're pouring, and pouring, and we want to be poured into, you know, and I think that that's what I look forward to, is being poured into. - So we have a group coming with us. It's just me and her and our car, but there's a group of us. - There's 22 adults in the rest-- - 22 adults. - 22 adults, two teenagers, and the rest are kids. - So right now, I was just passing through Salma in California, in case some of you are wondering where we're at.
It's south of Fresno, maybe 20 minutes south of Fresno. It's a little town of Salma, and we're making our way. We're going to stop at Baker's Field to put gas, because it's cheaper, because once you get to LA, it's probably seven-- - Six, seven dollars? - No, it's six dollars where we're at. - Oh, really? - It's probably seven or eight dollars in LA, so-- - Wow. - There's no way I want to put gas in LA, so we're going to top off our tank in Baker's Field. - Oh, wow. - But we have our conference Monday, Tuesday, looking forward to our guest speaker. I think the finale is Rob McCoy. He is a Charlie-- - Charlie Kirk's pastor. - Yeah, Charlie Kirk's pastor. Yeah. - Yeah, I'm excited. - Looking forward to fellowship, learning, like you said, just receiving. - I think they're really going to enjoy, they're really going to enjoy today's sermon. - Yeah, that mask, that baby mask. That was so funny. I didn't realize how funny it looked until Sharon showed me pictures of it after Sunday. - It's like a big old baby hip.
- I know, good. - And then, guys, after the conference, once again, like last year, we're going to drive up Highway 1, which is the coast. It's called the Pacific Coast Highway. - Pacific Coast Highway. - Yeah, PCH, right? - Mm-hmm. - And that's going to be nice, and make our way back that way. - Get another sunset for you guys. - Yeah, yeah. Whatever the sunset, we'll get that. And more obey, more obey, we're going to stop there. And then make our way home. So it should be make up a really good road trip for you guys. And my code, man, the code I wore for today's service. - Mm-hmm. code for today's service. [music] in LA they have tailors everywhere and then downtown there feels like there's tailors in every other block. I know, so you can probably get a tailored. Yeah, because it's really expensive. It's starting to swim on you, babe. All your suits are shutting to you. No, that one's nice. That one's fairly close. Yeah. So it's fine.
Yeah. It's just the sleeves are long. Oh, the sleeves. Yeah. It's barely close. Okay. But in Modesto, it's really hard to find a tailor and they're expensive guys, so I just take advantage. I'm like, you know what? I'm going to wear it to church and bring it to LA and find a tailor to fix up the sleeves. So I don't. There are police reported ahead. Oh, I guess there's police reported ahead. Anyways, guys, really looking forward to sharing this trip with you. We pray it blesses you. I have my tripod. I'm going to try to get Charlie Kirk's pastor to share a word with you guys, even if it's 10, 15 minutes. Yeah. I want them to do some. Even if it's five minutes. Yeah. Anything. So I have my tripod and I have these little lapel mics and get them to say some to you guys. Yeah. And see, maybe we can get everybody that that has come with us. And maybe we can even get chaps and Sonya to say something. Yeah. That would be amazing.
I know the chaplains from Arizona, from Arizona. She was a chaplain from Arizona. She's actually going to be a chaplain from another prison actually here. She's joining us. She moved back to California. She moved back to California, guys, she's joining us for the conference. And I'm really excited that she's going to be joining us here at the conference. And we're going to spend time with her. So maybe we can get her to share and say hello to you guys. And I know that you guys there in Arizona are going to be very, very happy to see her. So it's going to be great. It's going to be great. So we're excited to have her. The Lord definitely has plans for her. And we're just excited. And then, you know, being that I have the tripod and these lapel mics, maybe I'll get, you know, maybe I have Steve Riggles say something or some of the other pastors. Yeah. That'd be wonderful. Pastor George from India is out here. And you guys never get to see him. We always include him in our missions, but he actually preached today in orange. So I'm sure he's going to be there. So he would probably love to say something to absolutely, absolutely. So guys, looking forward to a great road trip. I'll be turning a camera on here and there and let you guys experience what we experience and enjoy. All right, guys, love you, bye. Okay, guys, we've now driven a little bit more. We're approaching Bakersfield.
Like I said earlier, we're going to stop at Costco to top off my tank. And I just thought I'd just check in with you guys so you guys can see a little bit of the road. Got this truck behind me. This guy on the right watch. He's kind of swerving. I'm going 80. So imagine how fast that guy is going right now. Oh, that one? Yeah. Oh, wow. He got all behind me super close and I wasn't budging. And he got behind the car next to us and he wasn't budging. So he's mad. Yeah, I'm mad. He's mad. I wish I could get him a cape so he could be super mad. I'm super mad. I just thought I'd show you guys a few minutes of the rhino. You guys enjoy watching the road. So I figured I'd let it record for a few minutes. Kimberly. I've never seen that street. How come we passed through here so many times and I've never seen Kimberly in a road? Probably asleep most of the time. I'm not asleep all the time. Huh? I said most of the time around here because there's nothing. I usually like when we pass with Fresno between Bakersfield or you'll be watching something. Probably.
Kim Bernalina. It's a pretty nice day. It is. It's actually 94 degrees but it doesn't feel like it. Well, not in here, dog. No, not in here. But usually when it's 90s, it feels hot even in the windows and others that feel hot. Yeah, it doesn't feel too hot. (gentle music) For those of you that don't know, this is I-5, which is the main freeway between Northern California and Southern California. It goes all the way up to state. Oh no, this 99, what am I saying? What? I don't know what you're talking about right now. I'm just like, huh? Scratch that, guys. That was a moment of this convobulation. He doesn't even have hair, so we can't even say it was a whatever moment, but he doesn't have hair. I guess I'm saying that because 5 in LA goes up the grave line, but then it splits to this, which is 99. And then 5, which goes along kind of parallel to this, but toward the right, maybe 45 minutes down that way? Sure. And, um, but 99 and 5 go parallel all the way up to state. Yes, they do. But this 99 will turn into 5 past bakersfield over the grave line. It's just kind of like this pros and cons of taking one or the other toward LA because here 99, there's what towns and cities and gas stations, almost every exit, just about. But that causes more traffic. If you take I-5, it is wide open, less traffic, but nowhere to stop. So you just pick your poison, I guess. We've been over there.
Remember we ran out of gas when we went to meet your brother? Yes. That was horrible. That was when we guys remember when our truck got wrecked, so we didn't have a car and we were borrowing a car. We had rented a car for some time, and then after that, we were just borrowing. Somebody had let us, Sister Jennifer, let us borrow one of her cars. And, yeah, I think I wasn't used to, I don't know why I wasn't paying attention to the gas gauge. And we met Luis, Sharon's brother, Moro Bay, had a great time, and we started heading back. I did not pay attention that we were on empty, and I'm on I-5 in the middle of nowhere. And it wasn't until that, remember I looked at the gas, something caused me to look, and I said, Sharon, we're going to need gas really soon, and as soon as I said that. Yeah, started to slow down. Yeah, it was a boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. In the middle of nowhere. Yeah. You should never, you should never run out on gas on cars that you don't know when they're not yours, guys. Especially in I-5. Yeah. Never. Because you just don't know what the reserves are like, or, yeah, you just don't. And we ended up spending the evening a few, what, how many hours? Four or five? I think like five hours. Five hours on the freeway. And thank God a friend of ours, her dad lived in the nearest town, which was still like half hour away. Yeah. And he came and brought a gas can, and he was like, and he was an angel to us. Thank you, Jesus. Yeah, that was rough. I remember there was a, there was a time when, um, I remember back in the days when, remember, I don't know if you ever went through this.
But I remember the days when I would have to go through my, the cushions inside the car just to look for change. Just to put gas in my car. And all my kids, when they were little, when they were, they were really young, I remember Abraham was just a baby at that time, and I had him in a car seat. And my kids were little. And I'd be like, okay, guys, we got to look for, we got to look for change in the car to look for, you know, just to scrounge for whatever we could find. And I remember we would be scrounging and looking under the seats. We'd be looking, you know, under every little, every little area that we could try to find. And we could find a dollar or two dollars, whatever, just to look for. But I remember this specific time. Um, I was on the, uh, it was the 118 freeway. And I was coming back from Tampa. Coming back from Tampa. Is that a street? Yeah, Tampa Street off the 118. And, um, and I was trying to come back. I was going actually, was it east? And I was like, oh my God, I need to get gas. And I remember that we had scrounched, I think like $1.10, maybe like $1.10 from going through under the seats, under everything under the carpets and everything like $1.10, $1.15, something like that. And I was like, oh my God, oh my God, I got to get to the gas station. And I got to get to the gas station. And do you know when you go down exits and it goes down along, or hill, windy hill, and then it'll take you down down like, you know, streets and everything, like those type of freeway exits and stuff? So I just wanted to get down this one exit so that I can get to the nearest gas station. I ended up running out of gas before even getting to that exit. Before you got to the exit. Before I even got to the exit, my car ran out of gas. And at this point, I told my kids, start praying right now because we ran out of gas.
I put my car, I used to have a stick shift, and I put it on neutral, David, I'm not kidding. I put that car on neutral, and I just let it flow, and I let it run, and the kids were playing difficult, the kids were praying, Jesus, Jesus. And I remember just running and letting it go. Do you know that that car just went for another maybe two miles, David, it ran on faith. That was Jesus, it kept going and going and going for blocks, and it even took green lights. Oh, then, yeah, you would have had to stop it a little bit later. It took green lights and everything, and I kept going and going and going all the way, and it still had to go up into the gas station, and it went into a pump and everything. And I was able to make it, and I still was able to put a dollar in the bag. That then, the gas was only like two something, like 290, whatever, three dollars. I was still able to put like a dollar something into my door. Yes. But that to me, that was the Lord. I feel that the whole time that the Lord had his little finger on my little car, it was a little Hyundai, a little Hyundai, and he just had his finger on my little car just pushing it all the way. And I really feel that the Lord was, the Lord was with me that day. There was so many times like that I'm not kidding. There was two moments, almost toward the end of, right, I want to say a build up before I got arrested, because when about three months before I got arrested by the FBI for the big case that I did time for, I was tired. That's when I called my parents to come pray for me, and Angel, and I was just tired of time. I was tired, you know, and you're tired of being tired, so I had quit my music. Now I had some checks pending, but there were some issues that were happening, and I was looking for work. So basically my money ran out, so weeks before I got arrested, I'd already made up my mind that I wanted to stop doing what I was doing bad.
And well, two things, one, I remember going to church because I was trying to go to church. I didn't really want, wasn't ready to surrender my life, but I was trying to go to church. And I took Angeliana, those are my tools as daughters, and took them to church with me, and we got out of church and I was starving, and I remember the girls were hungry. I forgot how old they were, I don't know, maybe ten and six, I don't know how far apart I don't remember ten and twelve notes, maybe six and twelve, they were hungry. When I ordered their food, there was nothing left for me. I think all I had was a $20 bill, you know, and those are moments that, I mean, all that was important is that they ate, you know, and I remember my oldest was saying, "Dad, you're not hungry?" I'm like, "No, I'm all right." I was starving. How'd that make you feel? I know those moments. I want to just, you know, when you have children... you got to go hungry, you're gonna go hungry. You know what I mean? And it it hurts. It hurts because you're hungry. But you're grateful because they're eating. Yeah, you know, it's like sometimes you don't even it's like you get over being hungry at times because you're just you're just like they're eating because they're eating and that's what's important. And it's like your hunger starts to go away after a while. And it was like she they want to talk about. Yeah. And I don't I think you'll talk about pretty positive. But yeah, I mean, anyways, another time in that same around that same moment, because I had quit music, quit doing the bad stuff to make money and all that. I was trying to go to church, trying to do the right thing. I had some checks pending royalty checks. But I can't remember why there was like two big checks that I was waiting on, like thousands of dollars from one from a music
of music album. And was from a movie that Hollywood and blockbuster picked up and they were lagging on payments. So it got so bad that Aliyah needed diapers. Yeah. So I had no money, you know, and no money at all. So I remember calling my mom and dad. And that was so embarrassed because I had a music career, I had all this stuff going on, you know, and I was like, is there any way, you know, do you have money so I can get some diapers, you know, and my mom was like, well, let just come by and see what I have, you know, and all she had was 20 bucks cash. And then I found out not only did I need diapers, because, you know, bubble was little too. I needed milk to and formula. You're not going to do that with 20 bucks. Oh, I don't know. And all my mom had was 20. It was late night. It was like midnight. Because back then food for less was like 24 hours. I don't know if it still is or not. It was it was 24 hours. Yeah. So here I am $20 bill from my mom. I felt completely broken because I made money, man. I made money by any means possible, but I was trying to do the right thing. Yeah, not realizing there was a grand jury indictment about to drop and I was gonna be arrested, you know, but I was trying to do the right thing. $20 I go to food for less. Guys, it was 24 hours, but nobody was really there. The parking lot, I could have parked anywhere in that law, you know, we're the Mexican it's a Mexican market now and Tracy. That used to be food for less. Yeah, I could have parked anywhere, guys. But where I parked, I got out. And I stepped on $100 bill. I could not believe that I was the Lord. I could have parked anywhere. He was even taking care of you even. Even guys, I remember seeing it, picking it up. And I got back in my car. And I started crying guys. I was not
saved. I was living a very sinful life, a very violent life. And God was that good to me. And I just was broken. I was broken guys. And I didn't really cry back then. But these are my children. Yeah. I wouldn't cry for me. But for my kids, they needed formula, diapers and man. So with that 100 and that 20 my mom had. And back then prices are different. I practically filled up my my because I needed groceries too. Yeah, I filled up my basket and I was thanking Jesus. Well, groceries are much cheaper back then. Yeah, $100 of groceries was a lot, especially if you were, we're what's it called? Like, smart with what you got? Yeah, you budgeted everything. Yeah. And I filled up my my basket, got the milk got formula got diapers and food. And I thanked Jesus. You know, and those are moments men I'll never forget, you know, and so guys went, you know, Paul says something interesting. He says, I know what it's like to have. And I know what it's like to not have. You know, I never, I never, you know, one thing like my like whenever I see people when they when I see them when they have the refrigerators full and they say, Well, I don't know. see their cupboards full and everything and I'm like are you kidding me like sometimes these young kids or these young people when they say that they don't have anything and they don't know what to make and they don't know what to eat and I'm just like oh man you guys you guys have it really really good you know because not having something to eat is really not having anything in your cupboards you know like your fridge is completely empty your pantries are empty and in all of that you know I think that's how I learned how to become how to become a cook how to become the cook that I am and to to do what I do is because I learned from nothing you know I really did you know I think for me how how all of that even started is is you know I found myself like at a in my car with my kids one day like like really it was one of my one of the
first real real little car that I used to have and I and I found myself in in front of a financialist park and I and I was laying there didn't have nowhere to go and I was there with Ashley it was Ashley Ashley Abraham and Christopher Matthew was not with me Matthew was with his his dad and it was me with my three and and I remember that I was like I'm literally homeless I have nowhere to go I was in the car had blankets I had their stuff in my trunk and and I wasn't gonna call my mom I wasn't gonna call anywhere you know I was I was sitting there after an abusive relationship I had already gone through so much you know put my mom through so much of her going back and forth of going through these abusive relationships and just so much and I was like it was a holiday I remember it being a holiday and welfare was closed you know so I wasn't gonna be able to go get help from them and I remember calling 2-1-1 because it was getting really cold outside was 2-1-1 2-1-1 is where you can call to get like help like you know you can call for information or you can call to get help and stuff like that it's like a social service it's like a hotline and so I call 2-1-1 and I asked for I asked for shelter for shelter if there was places that they can give me resources for shelter and immediately they gave me a hotline for shelter services and so they they gave me shelter services all the way in Santa Clarita and I was like oh my god that's kind of far but you know what it was Santa Clarita was close to by where my mom lived you know so I was like oh man that's kind of far but you know here's the thing I still had like I still had a job and my job was in North Hollywood so I was like you know what I'll take it I had a car so I was like I'll take it so they ended up putting me and you know because I was homeless you know I was sitting there sleeping at a park every night you know with my kids and I'm like I'll take it so I ended up taking this hotel voucher that they gave me all the way in Santa Clarita and I and I was like man a hotel you know so they gave me a hotel for a week so I took the hotel for the week and then I was able to get to a program that they gave me and they gave me the hotel for three months so I ended up taking that hotel but here's the thing that while I was doing that and I was
coming to work every day and taking my kids to school I ended up parking I ended up parking I ended up parking my car and one day I thought my car was stolen but my car was actually picked up for not parking for unpaid parking tickets yeah after so many though and I ended up I ended up losing my car and so now I was left to have to walk and take all these buses and I was taking like five buses a day and just going through all of this stuff and it was crazy so I was getting up at four o'clock in the morning walking like three miles remember that hill that I showed you yeah I was walking up and down these And it was just like crazy, and then I ended up in another hotel after. But God saw me through it all. He saw me through it, and it was six months of living from hotel to hotel. Because God is so good. He is so good. I have one more story before I end the video, because we're going to pull out to Costco right now to top off my tank. But I was locked up, and I had gotten taken from Sacramento County. The marshals picked me up, and they took me to North County in Oakland. I thought they were taking me to prison finally, but no, they just took me from Sacramento County Jail to the Oakland County Jail. And they had just had commissary, because I had to leave on my commissary, and I can't take it with me. So I get to Oakland, and they said, "Oh, we just had commissary yesterday, so that's a wait a week." And that's a long time ago. You know, they give you dinner. Well, you guys know, they give you dinner very early, so you're having dinner like 4.35 o'clock. I mean, by 8.9, you're starving. You know, and I couldn't be a commissary for a week, and I remember somebody, I don't remember who was like, "Hey, bro, you need anything." And I said, "I got nothing, man. I am starving." You know, and I can't remember who, man. I wish I remembered, but he had the heart when the officer came to do count. He told the officer if he could hand me something, and it was all he goes, "The officer has me a jar of peanut butter." You know, and he goes, "Hey, the guy in next door sent us to you." You know, and man, I was so grateful for the jar of peanut butter. I mean, think about that. A jar of peanut butter, you know, and so I rationed it out so I can eat a little bit of peanut butter every night until the commissary, the following week, yeah. And I was grateful for it, so... So is there any way for anybody to make any type of money to buy any commissary for people there, like this side? What do you mean? Like, do people have the opportunity to make income?
Yeah, in prison I was in jail, though. Oh. There's no opportunity in jail. No, wow. No. In prison it's a little different because, well, first of all, they have jobs, even if it's for a few dollars. Not every prison. I'm sure some of you guys are listening. There is no jobs available for you, but most of them have jobs for their side hustles. That's why I would draw. I would do portraits. There's people find a hustle to do. It's not for money, but those, like, barbers, they'll cut your hair for soups or for tunas or for, you know, something. Yeah, but if you don't have tunas, if you don't have soups, if you don't have any of that stuff, then you really can't barter anything, right? Yeah, stamps. So, if you're sick or if you have, you know, if you have a handicap or anything like that and you really can't do anything? Yeah, I mean, it's rough for people that don't have family or, you know, it's rough. So, anyways, guys, we're here at Costco. I'm going to put gas. The, um, I asked Google, and I said the gas is cheap as here, which is still expensive, but hey, man, it is what it is right now. It says it's 5.15 a gallon. That's pretty, you know, California has probably the highest gas in the United States, but we saw gas for what 6.99 right now? Yeah, it was really expensive. So, 5.15, I will not complain. And that means it's going to be 7 or 8 in LA. So, I'd rather fill it now in Bakersfield. Oh, it's busy here. It is really busy. Wow. You know, that's how Abraham learned how to eat fish to the, down to the bone is actually being in those hotels because I would be able to buy fishes at those fish markets. And you know how you can buy at the La Pia and they'll fry it in the back? Yeah. Yeah. And so when you buy those fishes and they fry it, you buy the fish for like a dollar or something and you take it to the back and they fry it. And my kids would share a fish and they would eat that thing up, man. Oh, man, that kid. That's why he loves seafood so much. That kid eats so much seafood. That's where he learned, guys. That boy can eat seafood like no other day. Trying to get to the gas station. I know where is it at. Oh, okay This is how traffic is all the time now, though, guys. Everywhere you go practically. See this traffic, guys? This is a parking lot. Yes. That's how it is everywhere nowadays, though. Well, this is worse than Modesto. Yeah. I just realized this is pretty bad. Mind you, we're not... It's probably because they really don't have that many costs, though, so... What do you mean bigger? It feels bigger than Modesto. Look at it. People don't wait. Yeah.
Chill out. It is? Well, everybody's coming to the gas. Look at the first one. Go to the first one right here. Where the blue... the blue car is. Right here. Will this car move forward? Yes, this one right here. Good thing is it doesn't matter where your gas pump is, these things stretch out, so I don't have to go on the right or left, so... Anyways, guys, I'm going to go ahead and turn it off. God bless you, and... See you in a bit. See you in a bit. Bye. Bye. Here we go. Oh, I did record it. I could show it. So I just unposited positive real quick to take the stabilizer on, but now we can't see it, but... It's okay. We're going to be able to see it again. Over that ridge, you can see... Downtown Nolle, we'll be able to see it again right now. All done, guys. Hold your horse there. So it is 6.30 p.m. We are 46 minutes away from our destination. All right, it's coming, you guys. Look at that. Fish. Downtown Nolle, really? There are police recorded ahead.
Out of cop sound. There's Downtown Nolle over there. Where are you over there? Where are you over there? I see it. You'll be able to see it, but just stop moving it. Can I straighten it up? Or you'll be able to have it crooked? Stop it. Stop it. [Music] We ended up taking the 210 freeway instead, because the bike was just packed out. It was so much traffic, huh? Yeah, it was pretty bad. [Music] Lots and lots of traffic. So for those of you that are from this area, what town is it? Hey, Google. What town are we going through right now? [Music] You are currently driving through Glendale on California too south. Glendale. Is that close to Burbank or not? Yes, where did you pass Burbank? Oh, okay. Are we in San Fernando or in LA? Where the? It's all, this is all LA, Kenny. Oh, is LA? You're good.
Yeah, because we're approaching downtown. Yeah, across Santa. And then Glendale and we already passed Burbank. Glendale Pasadena and all of that. Pasadena will, it'll end up going, it ends in one like that. Yeah. So, San Fernando Road. Yep, San Fernando Road. This is all San Fernando Road. All right, guys. Well, we'll see you in a little bit. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] (crowd cheering) And it wouldn't be had. So that was the days went by, by then some more gave me more gave me, and it ended up being four messages I wanted to leave and be scared, which I still haven't reached yet, by the way. 10 minutes to preach the series having gotten to it
yet, that's a church issue. And then we are to go by, and one morning, another fifth message came to me, which I am going to bring. Tonight I'm going to preach this at the last regional, so at another state, but I haven't brought it to our church yet, but I'm going to preach it here tonight. Tonight, before I get into the message, let me just say the schedule here is a little different, in that we're going through, normally we end early in the afternoon on Tuesday, going later in the afternoon. Rob McCoy will be with us tomorrow afternoon. You will also be here tomorrow night. And so the conference will go through what is the typical prayer meeting with this church on Tuesday night, so I think you're all aware of that schedule, but I'm just going to be aware of that if you weren't aware of that. [BLANK_AUDIO] [INAUDIBLE] [BLANK_AUDIO] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [BLANK_AUDIO] Well, guys, I want to introduce you first to this pastor. First of all, I'm just really excited that you gave us a few minutes. You're about to preach tonight, and I don't know. A lot of pastors like to just zone out before they go up there. >> I'm zoned out all the time. >> So I do want to introduce you by what American knows you ask, but then I want to know who you are, as aside from what American knows you.
>> Sure. >> The world knows you as Charlie Kirk's pastor. But I know that's probably just 1% of who you are. So if you could take maybe two, three minutes, and well, first of all, let me say this, this is going out to prisons and jails, probably in almost all 50 states. They have tablets now. >> Yeah. >> And so they get to watch our sermons, our Bible studies, and our podcasts that my wife and I do. >> That's so cool. >> We get so many letters, 150 letters a week. We read every single one. And just people are getting saved. There's a beautiful, you talked about earlier about an awakening. There's an amazing awakening that's happening in prisons. But at the same time, there's a lot of hurdles, when somebody is really, really wanting to do for Jesus, and they're in a place like that. But anyways, if you could take a couple minutes, and who are you? And we always address them directly, like we want to feel like they're sitting on the other side of this table. >> Amen. >> So go ahead, who are you? >> I'm Rob McCoy, a pastor for 25 years, Calvary Chapel, God speak, in Thousand Oaks, California. I was the mayor of the city of the city. while while i was a senior pastor uh... i'm married to my wife michelle thirty six years ago five kids eight grandkids i got to know charlie uh...
and we we met on a couple of occasions but really what needed us is that he he said to me one time when he saw me coming down from the podium at a conservative radio uh... rally and a few thousand people and i was coming down it was a pastors in politics and i was on the stage with a pastor named jack hibs large church and and chino hills another guy named tim tomsen and the topic was pastors in politics while he was the only one holding office yeah so they kept referring the questions to me and as i came down uh... charlie looked at me and i was going to get a video because my son really liked him i didn't know really who he was okay and uh... he said i didn't know a guy like you existed and i go what do you mean he goes up a pastor in politics and i said i didn't know a guy like you existed because what do you mean and i said it a young conservative you know we both we both laughed and uh... and then through a series of events we became friends and i was asked to be the dean of the seminary at liberty university uh... and i turned the job down and then they offered me to be the executive director of the fall kirk institute charlie kirk jerry fall while it was a president of the time and i agreed to that it was through that the charlie and i got connected and uh... we started t_p_s_a_ faith but but the kicker is charlie called me as pastor i called my friend uh... charlie was a terrible congregate yeah i have those yeah he was in church three times i have those
uh... but but all three times was to speak uh... because he was on the road three hundred twenty days a year but he tied which was you know he he was a good man i've initiated the wedding for he and his wife erica i know that uh... my wife was at the birth of both of their children so we're very good friends and charlie called me as pastor not because you know i'm i'm anything spectacular is a pastor uh... far from it we had we traveled eleven states in nine days and i was just getting to know the guy because i wanted to see what he was like if i'm gonna back this guy or be a part of it i want to i want to see if he's legit who he is in private is who he is in public and three things bring a guy like charlie kirk down gold glory and girls and his relationship with erica was you know above board it was excellent uh... it wasn't about money to charlie i saw a guy offering fifteen thousand dollars in cash and he said no and and it was in a room full of pastors really and every pastor in the room except for one said i'll take it so that should tell you something yeah and then glory every every time charlie got a compliment he deflected it and complimented the person complimenting him he was he was an amazing man uh... guy like that comes along one in a thousand years and and he he ran with big dogs like you know jensen franklin uh...
uh... allen jackson jack hibbs and he called me as pastor for one reason uh... on this time where we've done eleven states nine days i was exhausted he's half my age and we had an open sunday we're in california said charlie you know why don't you come and speak at my church and i'll never forget his response he said i've never spoken in church and i go why not he goes churches don't want me and political and at the time i was a mayor of the city and i was a pastor church i go charlie if god didn't want to some politics he wouldn't have invented marriage i mean you know it rules to get along and i said charlie politics is the highest form of community combines morality with sociability and and then i went further i said you know matthew twenty two when jesus is that's the greatest command he says a level of your god with all your heart soul mind and strength the second is like it love your neighbors yourself as a politics is loving your neighbor you're contending in the word politics is polis meaning city and concerns of the city yeah jeremy twenty nine seven pray for the piece of the city in which you dwell for in speech you'll have peace and if you love your neighbors yourself don't you want your neighbors kids growing up in a world where there's two sexes to two genders and and you want grown up where there they're not going to be taken from their home because you know the parents refused to let their child be given you know hormone blockers if they feel like they're they can change genders and and hormone blockers so inhumane they don't give the serial rapists in prison but they'll give him to a fifteen-year-old california without their
parents permission and and you know listen if for all of all you out there i i just got to tell you is it loving the light of somebody to tell them they can become the opposite sex it's not loving and and as i said earlier today when uh... when you officiate wedding there's a portion in western tradition of the service where the couples up there and you say if you if anyone in this room has any reason that these two should be together speak now or forever hold your peace so your silences consent and contend for our neighbor to love them more than ourself, our silence is consent. Yeah. And listen to all my brothers out there, and I'm assuming this is male incarcerated. - Females too. - Oh, females. It goes to female prisons too. Praise the Lord. Hey sisters, God bless you. So for my brothers and sisters out there, I'll say this, you know, we're called to contend for our neighbors to love them more than ourselves. Yeah. And the word "polis" means affairs of the city. And we want to love that city. And to say, I don't do politics, I just preach the gospel. That's a cop-out. 'Cause what you're saying is, I don't love my neighbor. And as though, you know, look, I get it, politics is, you know, you think it's poly-meaning many and ticks-meaning blood-sucking parasites, it's not. It's how you deal with the people in your community. So that's... And Charlie was moved by that.
And so he spoke that Sunday. He hit the ball so far out of the park, it's still sailing. And from then on, he always led with his faith. And it was a trajectory change. And when he was murdered almost a year ago, last month, he had spoken in over a thousand churches after that point. And he created the largest Parachurch ministry in America. He had the largest conservative youth movement in the world. And he did it on the spoken word, logos. He loved the word logos from chaos to order. He studied his Bible every morning. He spent two hours studying topics pertinent to 18 to 30-year-olds. He called him the Lost Boys of the West. That the American Dream was out of their reach, and he was fighting for them. And he would do it with logic, reason, and debate, and he always led with his faith. One thing that a lot of the letters we've gotten after, after he got murdered, and we were very, very vocal about how heartbroken we were. And we got letters saying, "Well, why would you like this guy?" And it's because all they were getting was a snippets. And I said, "You don't understand." I said, "I have to," and I stepped and done it. I got to put together a compilation of things that weren't on the snippets to show what he really was doing in college. Well, I think that's one thing that I wanted to emphasize on, because I think a lot of the times, because my brother did 20 years, and he was just released within the last year. And for a long time, he only got to see what was portrayed to them in the media. In the media, what they get to see, and I think a lot of the times, they only get what they see. But him now coming out, he's seen the full picture. He's understanding everything. And I think that's really, really important, because they don't see the full picture of everything. You know, it's fascinating how you described that, because Charlie started turning point at 18.
He took a gap year, and he was auto-died to self-taught. So from 18 to 31, when he was murdered, when he started turning point at 18, murdered at 31, take everything that was put on the internet, everything that they posted, and do the accumulation of all the views. That's an enormous number, because some of these had hundreds of millions of views. And then from his murder to today, which is a little over a year, multiply that previous number by 10. Really? That's how many people have viewed it since he died. Many people didn't know who he was, and then went back and looked at it. Wow. And getting the same testimonies, he isn't who they said he was. His memorial service. You ready for this? It's estimated that 1.5 to 1.7 billion people have watched it. That's more than a seventh of the planet. Some of our church people drove and got... Yeah. Yeah. I'm recognized all over just because I was the first speaker out of the shoe. Yeah. So I am... And by the way, they called him racist. They said he bartered in hate speech. He didn't. I was with him on these campuses. He didn't barter in hate speech. They just hated his speech because they didn't like to be challenged. And he would bring his detractors to the front of the line. The microphone spent more time on his lap or on the table than it did his mouth because he was civil.
And he listened to them. He wanted to hear them out. Yeah. And so many testimonies of people coming to Christ who came up to be visceral and ad hominem attacks. You know, attacking him because he didn't have an education or whatever. Yeah. We have young people that came to the altar broken. Yeah. They were going to see that day. Well, that Sunday after it happened. Yeah. So his life, he was a modern day martyr. An interesting thing about his life is today is a result of Charlie's ministry. The largest segment in the evangelical church in America is 18 to 30 year old males. He had an enormous impact in this generation. Absolutely. And they said he was racist. He never said a racist thing in his life. The one thing that they take out of context is when he said I won't fly on a plane if there's, you know, You know, or I'll have questions if there's a black-- diversity equity inclusion critical race area full video yeah and and it's anything but races he's pointing it out he's one who started flex it he I mean it his his reach saw no color it was it was a powerful he wanted people to have the freedom to excel so he was a he was like a son he was a son to you he was precious I mean I you know I could live a thousand lifetimes and never repay him for for what he did for me and he was so smart I mean you know he would ask you a question on something I give him everything I knew on it he'd ask for the books related to I'd give to him I'd come back the next day and he would be an expert in the topic and there'd be times where I wouldn't tell him the source because I didn't want him to I wanted to have something on him so yeah well thank
you know I want to get you a question because I know what you're preaching tonight and my question is well I don't know if it's a question or asking you to share a word because there's guys here some are getting out in a month next month next year some are never getting out and you know I I gave my life to the Learn federal prison and I will say this a lot of people do play church a lot of people do carry the Bible and whatever and then they leave it at the gate but there's a handful of generals and captains that are powerhouses and that's who I want you to talk to because you know we want to encourage them they're being persecuted many are being attacked many of them because they are no longer in the gang they are getting death threats Hebrew Israelites are growing Islam is growing but actually these tablets and what we're doing not only us but there's other ministries that are doing it that are just pushing back and people are getting saved what would you say to that person that is going through persecution because we think in America we're not persecuted but in prison they are yeah they are they're getting killed and stabbed you know yeah so you know when Charlie the when I started with him we'd go on campuses and I'll just say this to my brothers and sisters you know God has positioned you you have you have a mission field and a missionary goes where he's not loved but needed and he leaves when he's no longer needed but loved and my point is Charlie would go on campuses and early on it'd be Charlie a handful of us and a sea of detract they'd be throwing stuff at us they'd be throwing fecal matter urine they and it was vicious and incredible death threats every day at the end of his life it was like a sea of red hats and everybody chanting Charlie's name and still credible death threats but he never woke up in fear and and he he would always say I'm immortal until God takes me home and and they wanted bulletproof glass for him he refused it you know he he knew that his life was not his own the apostle Paul said I don't count my life dear to myself I have been crucified with Christ there's no longer I who live it's Christ who lives in me you know we don't get to pick the generation we're born into we don't get to pick the parents we get in this world but you can pick the kind of parent
you're gonna be and you can change the trajectory of your generation and so God will station you and you you know some people are born in a prison of their not even of their own doing but but the idea is Lord you have planted me here for such a time as this and and you look at that and you say I don't have to live in a context of fear God hasn't given me a spirit of fear but a power love in a sound mind and the Bible says we're more than conquerors in Christ Jesus one of my favorite folks in history is a guy by the name of Winston Churchill he said one time the man was cursed to have been born in uninteresting times that's not true for us we live in one of the most dynamic moments in world history and and there is there is a division a dissonance a disconnect there's enmity they're trying to bait us by race they're trying to divide us and and where it is just inundated and so evident is in the prisons in America and my brothers and sisters you know you you are free God has set you free from the law of sin and death by the spirit of life in Christ Jesus and it is a result of of earthly laws you're you're now positioned in a mission field and and it's it's not ideal I get it I've never been there but I can tell you you're called of the Lord right now where you are and you have more of an ability more power more insight and everything in your DNA fashions you for such a time as this God didn't make any mistakes so you can either do it God's way or your way your way is going to end up in bitterness unforgiveness anger vengeance and the enemy comes to steel kill and destroy God has placed you with the gift of logos which is the spoken word God spoke it in the person for this time and you're gifted more than anybody you can imagine and it's all perspective. You have to say, "Okay, Lord, I see it and I surrender and I'm here to do as you desire and you'll watch a miraculous things occur." So I don't know if I answered your question but... I already know there's going to be a Muslim, an atheist but Hebrews are going to click this on because they probably feel hate from, maybe they think we hate them or they think what would you say to that person because Jesus wants them to...
Amen. You know, Charlie early on and I'll use him as an example was a libertarian and he never led with his faith and it would be debate and going after it and it got tense and awkward. When he started to realize people aren't the enemy and he never felt like they were the enemy but sometimes you mistake the ideology with the individual. And people aren't the enemy, they're the opportunity. The ideology is what you're contending with. Yeah, not them. Yeah, so speak the truth in love. Love your enemy. Do good to those who spitefully use you. You're an old joy when you're persecuted because you're pursuing them. You're a missionary going where you're not love but you're needed and you're going to contend with truth and you're going to speak it in love. Truth without love is brutality. Love without truth is hypocrisy. Speak it in love but speak it and in the absence of courage that truth will be an orphan. You don't have to be afraid. You don't have to be a coward. Wake up every day knowing you are immortal until God takes you home and love them and part of the greatest way to love them is to speak truth. To be able to speak truth on the issues, you need to study to show yourself approved unto God a workman who need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Read your Bible, know the issues and contend with them because they're worth contending for. Yeah, well for me, you know, it's not about debating. I get it because I was there and everybody wants to debate in prison but the thing is as is that that person that's following some other ideology is not your enemy. No. The enemy might be the spirit behind their ideology but not that person.
The Lord wants them. So when I was on the city council, you know, I'm a conservative and the longest serving council member, real sweet lady, she's like super far left than I am. And I mean, she's like, and she was irritated I got elected to the council. And she became mayor and she made, she said, look, a director from the mayor, I want everyone to show up because the president signed a executive order about immigration and they were all meeting at the mosque and she said, I would ask that you'd come all the council members. Well, none of the council members came and it was a Sunday for me and I preached three services and now I'm driving down Borcher to go to this mosque and I can just see the crowd and they're holding signs antithetical to what I believe and everybody there did not vote for me. I mean, did not vote for me. So I parked the car and walk in and honestly, I'm a little nervous, you know, but we're all scared but the idea is courage is doing the right thing even when you're scared. So I remember calling my wife to tell her, you know, I love you and I may not see you again, you know. But I said a prayer and I said, Lord, you know, I don't know anybody there. Would you bring me a friend? And I was across the street and I could see the crowd across the street and I looked to my right and there's a guy in a Muslim outfit and I thought, Lord, you've got another friend, you know. And I go, Hey, I'm Rob. He goes, I'm Samir. And I go, nice to meet you, Samir. He goes, thank you for coming to the mosque. And I said, my pleasure. He says, come, I want you to meet the moms. So I walk over with Samir and as we're coming in, they recognize me and it's like Moses was parting the Red Sea and they're like, Oh my God, my Koi is here, you know.
And Samir doesn't hear any of this and we meet the moms and I met one of them before. And then the, the counts of the mayor sees me and she comes up and she says, you're the last person I thought would be here. And her name was Claudia. And I said, Claudia, you asked me to come. And she said, Oh, and there was a guy and I was on the front page of the paper, I forgot that Sunday because there was a guy named, I won't say his name, but he ran an organization that was coming after me. And it was in the front page that he's targeting me. And that sounds a little, you know, nefarious. And the reporter said, how do you feel about that? I said, I don't think he means anything mean by it. I think he just doesn't want me in office. The first name was John. So, so she sees me and she says, Rob, I want you to meet someone and she introduced me So you it'd be easier for you to monitor me and targeted me and he didn't laugh but everybody else did and then Samir is next I mean he's kind of confused with the conversation and she puts a name badge on me and says Rob McCoy and Samir goes Your Rob McCoy. I said yes Amir. I said I hope this is the first guy that you may have first guy that I met I go yeah, I I hope you don't you think different of me now that we're friends I I'm happy to know you he goes I am and this is my wife and What is I can't remember her name, but I knew that if she didn't extend her hand I wouldn't do that yeah, cuz you know the culture yeah, and everything was fine and then I stood in the front row and every speaker was the opposite party and They're all changing their their tone. It's very civil until the John guy gets up Yeah, and he's pointing at me and he's and everybody's embarrassed for him Wow Because I came there with sincerity. Yeah, I was gracious and kind wasn't true Yeah, and and it opened up doors like you can't imagine and then the last one is I'm pro-life yeah, and somebody threw a Molotov cocktail at the pro-life I mean the abortion clinic in our town and the FBI came out and they did a
letter to the editor blaming me saying I incited it and And later and and I knew the woman who'd written it and later it comes out that it was a A boyfriend of one of the workers that did it cuz he was you know, he was so upset at her had nothing to do with me. Yeah so now we're Thousand Oaks obviously they love their trees. Okay, so We're having it's a it's a meeting on this on on protecting the oak trees And it's like it goes to midnight and it's you know, we're dealing with the circumference of oak trees It's like boring Yeah, driving me nuts and all of the folks that are greenies are out there and they all brought gifts of these little tiny oak trees Don't plant one cuz if it's in your house, you'll never be able to remove it and before we got there I got two acorns in my hand one was a valley oak Well, they know they're both valley oaks. Yeah, and I've done my homework Yeah, and there's all the ladies that wrote all these letters and they were they just hate me And the meetings gone really long a hundred public speakers and I could tell they're hungry So I bring some my snacks over and I offer them to them and they're thank you, you know, they're being a standoffish I said, you know, I brought you guys something and I hold out my hand with the two acorns and I said There are these valley oak acorns or coastal oak acorns, and they use the the Latin Genius for it, and they say it's it's it's a valley oak. Yeah, I said But what if I plant them could they turn in to a coastal oak? They said no stupid can only be? A valley oak yeah, and I said I already knew the answer to my question I as much as you love these trees as much as I love the unborn babies They can only be a human being They're not gonna be anything else I gotta be anything else and she said that's a debate for another time And I said it is but I just want you to know we're both passionate about this and if you're if you if you can lovingly speak the truth and and you know The person this elast when the person who ran against me and one of the terms they pitted us together and and it would got vicious and in Thousand Oaks I was mayor pro tem eight days later become the mayor of the city
We had a a gunman go into a country western dance hall and kill 12 of our young people and then kill himself And and also my friend Ron healers who was a sheriff got got killed a stray bullet from a CHP officer killed him Wow so I attended the funeral of every one of the the victims I Was I stayed all through the night? with the parents who didn't know where their children were because they were calling and nobody was responding and and then so it gets intense and I we were gonna do a Prayer a prayer vigil that night. Yeah, so you know the pro the anti gun lobbyists is coming out the pro gun people and it's it's getting chaotic And we just said nobody. It's a prayer vigil. Yeah and I I stand in the lobby and I greet every car every citizen coming in from the city because our city had been decimated and then we got encircled by fires It was crazy and my opponent that ran against me comes up to me Because I had been on the news that morning because the the mayor of the city at the time who was gonna step down in eight days Was a fire chief and he was fighting the fire So I had to respond to the news media and I went across the country my face on the on the thing And she comes in and she sees me when she's with her husband and she comes up and she grabs me and starts sobbing and crying and hugged say last night on the news. And I wish you had been there when my daughter was murdered. Your words meant so much to me. Wow. I didn't even know her daughter had been murdered. But but that's stepping in. Yeah. To the public square and loving people. Yeah. And and it's over time that you win hearts. He just got to love them and be patient. They're not the enemy. They're the opportunity. I like that. I like it. Well, I just, you know, appreciate your time. You know, I'm sure they're pretty, well, we're gonna get a lot of letters. Oh, good ones, I believe. And you know, and I just love the fact that you shared your heart and and even clarified the whole Charlie Chris pastor because I
think by you clarifying it, it's I think it could be taken like okay, and all the stuff that he was saying and people hate him for was because you were just a he was just a speaker for you. But no, you guys met his friends. You guys met. And yeah, so that I like I like that you clarified that. But that's awesome. Thank you so much. I know we're gonna have an amazing service right now. And I hope so. I know and appreciate you. I don't know if Sharon, did you understand? No. Well, I want to say something. Go for it. To my brothers and sisters. I'm not with you personally. But it's been a great honor to at least be in your presence via the video. And I know you get tired in the work. But don't ever get tired of the work. It I know it's hard. And everybody is has been given a corner of the stretcher. And what you do do is under the Lord. And in him is the fullness of joy. And and you can do all things you Christ who strengthens you. Press in. It'll be all right. You got this. God bless you guys. We love you guys. Well, you heard it from Ron McCoy himself. God bless. They're back to you guys. All right. So we got the road trip to go to. All right, guys, we love you. Well, guys, conference is over. And we're heading out from our hotel room. For the last to check out, we have a whole group of people here. Sharon's here with me. Hello. And you know, I didn't get a lot of footage of the conference. And by now, I'm sure you know why, because I wanted to save time for this conversation we had with Pastor Rob McCoy. And he was so graceful in sitting down. We told them about you guys. We bragged about you guys. And he said he would love to, you know, have a conversation for Christ and bar. And so I wanted to save a lot of times for that because you know, I'm limited in how much how long of a video I can upload.
And then on top of that, we did want to be able to get our road trip on the way back so that way they can be able to get these some to the sunrise and along the coast as well, which is important for us. Mm hmm. So we're now leaving. Orange. Yeah, leaving Orange California. And it was a really good time seeing all the leadership, you know, Steve Brigo, Pastor Larry, Stu, Pastor George. Hey, it was just and besides that other people, other people that we've grown to be family with and grace. Yeah, everybody's family. Yeah, it's just wonderful. And then the families that came with us from Modesto. Yes. You know, I mean, everybody, guys, everybody comes in their own time. You know, none of it's funded. None of it is they get their own hotel, their own food. And so for so many people from a desk so to come and that's a big deal. You know, David kept joking around with them and telling them, Hey, breakfast is on me, breakfast is on me. And it's funny because the hotel provides breakfast. So that's why David, you know, David kept telling them you get as much as you want. Yeah, eat as much as you want. It's on me. It's on me. Yeah, breakfast is provided every morning. Yeah, it's funny. Yeah, but it was it was beautiful. It absolutely was beautiful. The word that the Lord had for us was was wonderful. Every time, every time and we would record it so we can, you know, be able to transcribe it for and give everybody the notes and stuff. So we want to be able to share those notes with with those that were here and just be able to be able to swap out those notes with them and just be able to, you know, to give insight on what we feel that we got out of it, you know, which is important to us. Oh, yeah. So for those of
We're in Orange County in Orange, California. - Of both Steiner and City Drive, the City Drive. - Everything looks new here, guys. It all looks like new development. To the left is like a outlet mall. - Yes. - And restaurants and stuff. And it's really nice here. From what I see, I don't know much about Orange, California. - It's called the Outlets at Orange. - Yeah. - We are gonna stop real quick in downtown LA, so I'll get a little bit of footage of that. And then we're gonna make our way to the coast. - Yes. - Yeah, so, it's pretty much it for now, right? - Yep, that's it. - So the next time I turn this on, we'll be in downtown Los Angeles. - Amen. - All right. - All right, God bless you. - Here we are in the alleys. I came to bring my, one of my suit coats, well, my sports coats to get tailored on the sleeves. And they say to take an hour. The, it was a sports coat I wore Sunday. And finally, since we're coming down here, I brought it that way I can get it fixed.
You know, I'm gonna tell you, man, I would take a cheaper suit that, well, tailored, than an expensive suit, not tailored. Oh, what's up? - So we're in the alleys. It's like a huge flea market in the middle of the alley. And it goes for blocks and blocks and blocks, guys. But anyways, just waiting for my sports coat to get done. And just walking around, checking everything out. I was looking at a little toy, man, for my nephew, but you wanted $15 for this little airplane. Hey, guys, are we in San Fernando Valley? - Yes. - We're in San Fernando Valley. And I already started eating before I showed you. This is Honduran food. This is a baliada with eggs and avocado. - Which one is that, ham? - This is a ham, baliada. - All right. So I got more coming, guys, I'll show you. I almost forgot a film. I just started eating. They're so good. All right, guys. So Sharon got her, I don't know what kind of saupa-- - Soapa like a maron. - Soapa like a maron. - It tastes just like my mom's, or it smells just like my mom's.
So I know it's gonna taste so spicy. - But those that don't speak Spanish. - (speaks Spanish) - (speaks Spanish) - Highway one, peeps. Highway one goes along the coast, all the way from Southern California, all the way to San Francisco. Whoa, it keeps going, actually. You guys know the Golden Gate Bridge is how we want it. In case you didn't know that. (dramatic music) - A lot of times when you see like the car commercials, if you always notice, they're always showing them like on this little single road on the side of the ocean, it's how we want it. - It's how we want it. - Makes for a perfect car commercial. - Yeah. Beautiful. - It seems like they always showed on that-- - On different parts than how we went. So this is actually the bucket list, guys, of riding a bike from San Francisco, down Highway one, all the way to Santa Monica. That's the bucket list. Some people go from Canada, 'cause that's where Highway one begins, I believe up there in Oregon and Washington,
all the way down to Mexico, Highway one. But I ain't that crazy. I'm good. I'd be happy with San Francisco to Santa Monica. Who's that Hearst Castle up there? See it up there? - That it? - Hey, Google. What is Hearst Castle? Hearst Castle is a historic coastal fortress in Hampshire, England, built by King Henry VIII between 1541 and 1544 to defend the Solway and Western approach to the Isle of Wight. If you meant Hearst Castle, that is the famous grand mansion in San Simeon, Which one were you looking for? - The one in California. - Hearst Castle is a grand historical estate in San Simeon, California, built by publishing tycoon William Randolph Hearst and architect Julia Morgan. It features 127 acres of gardens, pools, and a vast art collection. - Well, it's up there in the mountain, guys. What I'm going there, but, huh? What's the story about it? - I don't know, just the, hey Google, what's the story of Hearst Castle in California? - Hearst Castle was built between 1919 and 1947 by publishing tycoon William Randolph Hearst
and architect Julia Morgan. Hearst envisioned a grand estate on his family's ranch land in San Simeon, which he named La Questa and Cantata, or the Enchanted Hill. Morgan designed the main mansion in guesthouses in a Spanish colonial revival style, incorporating Hearst's massive collection of European art and antiques. Today, it is a California state park and historic landmark. - That's a trip that the house you live in later on becomes a historical landmark. - Yeah. - And there's a house I want to go to, guys, that it'll probably be too late, actually, but on this road, actually, leads up to John Steinbeck's house where he grew up. That's one of my favorite authors. It's in Salinas, California, and his house is a historical landmark now. - Yeah. - But I think by the time we pass Salinas, it'll be too late, but it's not too far from home for us to ever make that trip to check that out. (gentle piano music) So you guys can see the water. - If I turn it this way, you should, is this thing in the way? - No, not really.
- Like you see the water? - Yeah. - Sure can. - It better off putting it's alita. Like so pretty, right there. - Just a little sight to see that. - It looks pretty. - Yeah. (gentle piano music) Guys, I ain't alive, man. When I'm on this road, I don't want to go home ever. So nice, it's peaceful. - It is. - Like you pull over, all you hear is the waves crashing. (gentle piano music) (gentle piano music) (gentle piano music) (gentle piano music) (gentle piano music) - And then right across cows. - On this side? - Yeah. - Oh, you can't see them. - Can't see the mound. There was cows on the other side. (gentle piano music) - That's right. - All right, guys. - I'll let you see that.
I'll bet you cows on that side. (gentle piano music) That's right. (gentle piano music) All these people just pull over and they're just hanging out of camping. (gentle piano music) I'll see the cyclist guy. I said, "Be me someday." Look at this. There's these people with RVs and I guess they just spend the day there, huh? There's spark in these days. - Oh. - One day, babe. One day will do that. - All right, guys. I mean, this is hours long, so I wish I could show you the whole thing, but. My phone don't have that much memory and I can't upload that much video, will ya? (speaking in foreign language) But I'll keep posting here and there as we go up this coast. - Hey guys, good morning. We are in Morro Bay. We rushed here, well not rushed, but you know, we try not to stop too much in LA 'cause we wanted to get the sunset. And we got here in time and it was so cloudy,
you couldn't see the sunset. - Amazing. Or a sunrise. - Yeah, but here we are. This is Morro Bay. (upbeat music) That at least you can see the beautifulness of nature, which you're seeing now. - Yeah. - I think this is where you go down the whole 18 mile to see Pebble. - I know, that's, that's a, that's one of rain. - Oh, oh, duh. - Which I kind of wanted to take you to the rain on the way, 'cause I know you like that cypress tree. We'll see what happens. But it's beautiful. - This is really nice. - This statue's about. - There's a museum here, a three dollar museum, but it's like more for children. - Let's see what this is. Can you drive through here? - Yeah, well, there's just a turnaround. That was the, it's imagery, sir. - Mm. Look at all the boats there. - Well, it's not the arena, like a bay. - Yeah. - They parked their boats.
- All right, so, did a little research about Morro Bay. Find out there's eight Christian churches here. Didn't know, 'cause it's a really small town. So that's cool and encouraging to know. A lot of these guys are on the West Coast in California. A lot of the towns and cities by the water for some reason. Many of them are very antichrist. So I was pleasantly surprised. We both were to know those eight churches here. And then, oh, and then in the hotel, there was a young man in his 20s, he was checking me in. And I had a house arrest shirt on. And after I checked in, he goes, oh, I see your shirt. He goes, I like it. He goes, God bless you. And I was like, oh, thank you, God bless you too. - Oh, God, he was older. - You didn't go in there? - No, you did. - Oh, no, he was young. He looked like he was Abraham baby. - Oh, wow. - That's nice. - Yeah, and he's, I like their shirt. So that's letting, he's letting me know he's a believer, you know? - Yeah, it's nice. He was encouraging, 'cause not only, yeah, not only is it a coastal town, which they're anti-Christ, but he was a young man.
- Yeah. - You know, so that was, that was nice. So this is a really small town. I don't know, hey Google, what is the population of Morro Bay? - The population of Morro Bay is around 10,600 people. That's small. - Small. - Yeah, that's small guys. So compared to Modesto, which is not a big city, but, hey Google, what is the population of Modesto, California? - The population of Modesto, California is around 220,000. - Okay, so as you know, Modesto is connected with a series, Empire, Salita, Ripon, I asked a lot. So, but you know, the surrounding towns, but that's 260. So probably combined with the other ones, it's probably in the three to 400 range with other towns. Connected the series. - But was that part of some of the King County? - Yeah. But did you let me show you the contract, guys? This is 10,000 people here. So that's, Modesto's, what, 24 of these? And Modesto's small, because when we live in Stockton, Stockton's bigger than Modesto, but just to kind of show you, you know, remember we rented a house with the young people? I think it was in the street for maybe a block back. During COVID, guys, we, wait, is it here?
- I think it's one of these, it's earlier. - Is it that house? - That's it. - Yeah, we rented an Airbnb with the young adults during COVID, and man, it was so fun. We were on here for three days. We did Bible studies, we did some games. - Young people do not know how to play monopolies. - No, they don't. - They're horrible, they suck at monopolies. - Let's screw this way here. - Yeah, then let's explain this way, and then we'll show them the rock. - Yeah, oh, drive out to it. - Yeah, let's do that, we've never-- - I'm not ready for lunch yet. - So they're just shops, restaurants. Obviously it's a weekday, so it's probably, and early, it's 11.22, we just checked out, so not many people. But this is what we like about it, 'cause Monterey is beautiful, but it attracts thousands of people, and it's never like that here. - This is where they get the pirate names from this little cafe. - Oh yeah, the pirate name. - Didn't Daniel and Naomi show us more of it? We didn't even know about this town, huh? - Okay.
- Remember they kept telling us about the fish market? No, they were like the fish market. - Oh, I don't know. - We've never been this way. - I would never came this far but look at the children's-- - It's like a little children's part. - Little children's part. - Yeah, you know, don't think we could go out this far or out this way. - Three ways to pay for parking and launching first. Oh, this is for your boats. If you have a boat, spectrum in it. Well, I guess if you have a boat, you could launch it here, but I don't have a boat, guys. Yeah. - We need to find a place to do a video. Let's see if I can go down there more, but. Well, they charge parking here, though. - Yeah. - Boat launching. How many of you guys have a boat or launched a boat? I've never been, some of the brothers asked me if I've ever been deep sea fishing. I've never been. Sounds fun, but I don't know if I can handle all those waves. - Have you ever been on boats? - Yeah. - Yeah. - Not too many, but.
- Maybe. - I took that ferry boat and first of all, I was British. It didn't bother me, but the deep sea fishing takes you hours an hour, and I don't know if I can handle that. And if I can handle it, there's nothing you can do about it 'cause you're hours away, so I don't know. I don't know how I feel about that. Then we just watched that movie, the old movie, "The Perfect Storm", with Mark Walberg and George Clooney. - Thanks a little bit. - Yeah, that made me really not wanna go deep sea fishing. We were just talking guys this morning, we had coffee and we sat because our hotel room faced the water. It was like a patio. Sharing or talking about how she's glad I didn't just drive straight home from the conference because we just needed this time to be compressed because we love the conference. But you know, you're just around people the whole time and people we love, but still, you know, just people all the way from Sunday service. And just coming here kind of like a decompress, I would say, right? - Yeah. Sometimes we don't, even at home, you know, we're around the boys or we're around. I don't think we really can't work it. - Even when it's just us, it's always, it's still always about ministry, you know, and I think we just never have time to just sit down
and just us just talk, you know, how just conversations about us or just have those us moments and Kim and I about our personal lives. And I think that's so important in a marriage, you know, in relationships and marriages and even if you had your children, you know, sometimes you need to separate yourself in a family. the family time and do all of that. It is so important because sometimes your kids just want to talk to you about just life, about family time, about what's going on with them personally, or just about ourselves, you know, about what we're feeling, you know, and I think that's so important. You know, and even being there, even behind those walls, you know, sometimes you're constantly talking about what's going on there behind those walls, but have you ever just sat down and had a deep conversation about what you used to do, add in the free world, you know, about the deep thoughts, you know, deep life, you know, about, you know, those memories and, you know, what made you who you are today? There's just things in life, you know, at what point in your life do you think that things changed? There's a lot of little places here and we got no balance. I know we've never really gone this far, but I think it's really important guys because I think a lot of the times, you know, I'm because I think those things can help us kind of go back and be like, you know what, I can go back to that one place and be like, you know what, I could start from there. I can go back to that one place and just start from there and start all over, you know, because sometimes the Lord wants to take us back and wants to tell us, you know, hey, you can still do it. You can start from there. We always have opportunity to be able to change things in our lives. He gives us that opportunity. You know, what, for me, why Moro based so special to me is, you know, I met, we met each other later in life. We already had our children, or some of mine are already adults, or some of her's already adults. You know, we've had her lives before, and there's a lot of places I have been to before I met her, and there's places she's been to with other people, you know, obviously we were, we have kids, you know me, it's obviously we were with other people, but this place we saw it together. I had never even, maybe I did hear Moro Bay, but I didn't pay much attention. I don't know if you
ever heard of it. I don't know if I ever heard of it. And the fact that, so it's, this is like, I don't, I don't have memories of Moro Bay without Sharon. We experienced it together. And that's, I think, why this place means so much to us. It's our little getaway, and because it's a place we, we seem together, you know, and that's important, guys. It's, it's our first together. Yeah, and I know it's when you guys, some of you guys that are going to get out, you want to go see places that you've seen again, but see places you've never seen. Yeah, do you think you've never done before? Yeah, making new memories. We should just park. So if you look across, that's Moro Bay, we're in, parked with this giant rock, so let me zoom in. All that over there is where we just were, that little town. And I don't think we can see the hotel we were at, but basically it was somewhere over there somewhere. Those three, um, pipe things over there, not pipe, smoke stacks. Yeah, it was like, I'm not sure what it was, but I know they're not in use anymore. Hey, Google, what are the three smoke stacks here in Moro Bay? The three smoke stacks belong to the decommissioned Moro Bay power plant built in the 1950s, though inactive since 2014, the 450 foot towers remain a famous local landmark. Oh, so they're not in, um, jealous of these cyclists right now. Man. Oh man, can you imagine riding right now with this nice cool weather? Okay, let's over here. Well, they're over there. Yeah, let's look at those and there's a bench right there If I could look at this park here, huh? Yeah, that's a better spot. That's cool Let me park here See the bunch of benches. Yeah All right guys, I'm gonna turn it off and then I'll set up the tripod and That we guys can see some of the surfers Those are the waves that from that knee Was it called? All right, see you in a minute All right guys, so we found this little spot There's surfers behind us and we were trying to figure out like oh, yeah, we said it in the video. Yeah, how are you mean you? I guess it's brought some really fish some really big waves. Yeah, so I can see why
There's so many surfers out here. Yeah Which is nice. Yeah, it gives them an opportunity to be able to to surf. I'm not that brave Yeah, I don't even know how to serve so I could swim in the swimming pool, but I don't think I could swim in this I think if I went swimming right now, it'd be the last time you saw me, but Yeah, I think the ocean would take me. Yeah, I'd be gone. I'd be totally gone guys Yeah, so I want even though it's overcast is actually beautiful still though. Yeah, it is It's really we've have we ever been here with overcast every time it's sunny every every single time. Yeah, this feels like San Francisco Yeah Exactly it definitely doesn't look like it though. No, no the weather. I'm talking about this This is how San Francisco always feels that it's colder in San Francisco though. Yeah, absolutely It's like chilling bunching For sure. Yeah, totally for sure So guys, you know, like I said, we're kind of This is the last stop before going home. We are still gonna go up highway one, which is gonna take us up through Big Sur Carmel Monterrey Santa Cruz And then we cut across into Toward, you know my dust though at that point. Yeah, so we have a lot more to to see and and maybe here and there You know to film a little bit so they can see it I'm hoping they fix it because remember that big surf part was closed. Yeah, I'm hoping it's open now So I'm because because of all the the lamps cuz of Potential lens and all of that. Oh, so I'm hoping it's open now so we can drive all the way through Yeah, cuz it's kind of boring, but every last time I force this inland and then I'd just rather go along the coast But I had a verse in mind, I don't know where it's at maybe you can find it in a minute And Job where it talks about God stops the the waves So You know being here at the ocean at the beach
Especially with the Omeno, so basically they're predicting that it's gonna be a really rough Winter here on the west coast They don't know how much they're saying that the way it's building up. It hasn't been it's not It's not gonna be the last time I was gonna be as bad as 1950 Which is 75 years ago, but things could change And Job 3811 and But these waves guys these waves Looks fun for the surfers, but this is just the beginning. I mean we're barely in October 1st They're talking about a rough December January A few years ago was the last Omeno and there was a lot of flooding and That wasn't nearly as bad. Yeah And it made me think of the book of Job I We actually did a RBT on this verse a long time ago when we were Remember we stayed at that in Was it Pebble Beach or Maas Maas In Maas Beach? Yeah, okay And we did a video way back then I think about this verse. Okay, but that was RBT. Okay and So Job Remember that in Job, he's kind of like saying God, you know Well, his friends were saying well, maybe you did something maybe yeah, what did you do to what did you do to cause all this? Yeah, your kids are dead you're sick, you know, and his wife was like why don't you just curse God and die and so job is having like this inner conflict and And, um, And I guess what I want to say is I want to read this verse and see where it goes. I don't have nothing I want to specifically talk about, just the spirit of God flow and just say what we want, you know? I feel led to it, but I did want to read this verse because I want to pre-requisite with this, is that Job asked everybody else their opinion, except God. And God finally gives his opinion, and he says this verse, you want to read it? You go ahead, I'm going to get comfortable because I'm... Are you slipping?
I'm slipping, can you tell? No. Okay. Okay. So, Job, I almost want to read, let's see. The main verse I want to read about is 11, but let me back up a little bit. Okay, to one, even though 11's are main verse, but I'm starting one. Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind because Job was questioning God, and God says, "Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?" Because who are these friends you're talking to? Yeah. He was the dark in counsel because they're talking with no knowledge. And then he goes in verse three, "Dress for action like a man. I will question you and you make it known to me." Hello. Have fun out there. Thank you. "I will question you and you make it known to me." Verse four, in God says, "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?" He says, "Tell me if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements?" Surely you know. That's sarcastic. He's like, "Yeah, were you there in the beginning? Is you and your buddies? You think you know everything? Were you there when I measured it?" He was, "Who stretched the line upon it? And on what were its basis sunk or who laid its cornerstone when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?"
First of all, that's awesome. All the angels were rejoicing in God's creation. Yeah. Yeah. They rejoiced. And then he says, "Or who shut in the sea with doors when it burst out from the womb When I made clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling bam, verse 10, we're getting close to 11 and prescribed limits for it and set bars and doors. And here it is and said, "Thus far shall you come and no farther. And here shall your proud waves be stayed." Um, this ESV, I wanted to read it, but see the empathetic, just 11, not the whole thing. Talking about the waves and says, "Thus far you shall come, but no farther. And here your proud wave shall stop." So in other words, God is saying, "Even the waves of baby." Yeah. And it stops where I tell it to stop. Guys, try stopping one of those waves. Yeah. Remember we baptized and the little waves are knocking us over? We were getting knocked to the right to the left. Little baby waves. Yeah. And the water seems still. If you looked at it from the vehicle, from the car, the water seems still. Yeah. From our end, from our perspective, the water seemed calm. And we were getting tossed to and fro. In the moment we walked in there, we were just getting tossed everywhere. Can you imagine, from our perspective now, the waves seem so huge? Yeah.
The waves seem so huge. And God says. Yeah. There's no way. You know, I have it in the message. It says, let's see. He says, "Who took charge of the ocean when it gushed forth like a baby from the womb?" Wow. He says, "That was me." I wrapped it in soft clouds. I tucked it in safely at night. Then he goes, "Then I made a playpen for it, a strong playpen so it couldn't run loose and said, 'Stay here, this is your place.' And your wild tantrums are confined to this place." So to us, the ocean is a scary place and to God, he's like, "It's a playpen." Yeah. "I created a playpen." You know, when you put a baby in a playpen, it can't go outside of the confines of that playpen. It can do what it wants. It can make a mess. It can cry. It can throw everything. It can do everything. But it's confined to the playpen. And right here, I love it because the message says, "You know, the ocean, I put it in a playpen." It's nothing to him. And it can only go as far. Guys, why am I saying this verse?
I understand that prison might seem impossible. It might seem huge. Your case, the years you have, your circumstances. the gangs in prison, all of those things and God says, "I control it all." Get the baddest dude in the prison, see if he can stop one of these waves. But our God, nothing is impossible for our God. And think about this, he's on your side. Who else do you need? Sometimes we freak out. Me and my wife freak out sometimes. We're like, "What are we going to do in the situation that's going to happen?" We're like, "Wait a second. God's on our side." What else do you need, guys, if he is for you, who can be against you? You know, just sometimes it's looking at waves like this that we need reminding. There's nothing, there is nothing, nothing, nothing. There's nothing bigger than these waves, you know, and we think that these waves are are big to him, it's nothing. Even this big rock, the one you guys see, I don't know how many times, every time we come here, when we're driving in, you can see it. And we're like, "That rock seems so misplaced." And it looks so much huger, and then right now when we're close to it, and I'm like, "Wow, Lord. You know what? It's not as big, but because nothing is big to him." Remember, we always joke, and we're like, "Was God laying the mountains?" And then he had a leftover rock in his pocket, and he's like, "Oh, I got this pebble. Let me set it right here in Morro Bay." It's like, God, there's guys, there's no other rocks around here, nothing. And then just this massive rock, like a pebble in God's pocket. And he's like, "Let me set this right here." But to us, it's beautiful. It's a beauty. Yeah. It's a beautiful pebble. We serve a big God, man, and I think as humans, we forget. And you know what happens? Is we turn our problems big and our God's small. Hmm, that's good. You know, and
he says the earth is his footstool. That's why I love the ocean. You know, I won't ask you why you love it, but I love it because it reminds me it's okay. Sometimes it feels good to be made small because it reminds you how big he is. Yeah, I think I feel the same way because it's so, it doesn't end for me. It just seems like it's so continuous and so everlasting. It's so big that I just feel the same way in Revelation. It talks about it's his footstool. And I just kind of feel like if that's his footstool, then how huge it is. And I just kind of feel like, wow. Yeah, it's a footstool. Like, like, okay, when you go into your head, like, I know you guys don't like to put, you won't put your shoes on your bed, right? Because you're walking around the yard, you're walking around, you don't know what, you know, what that floor has been contact with. So you don't get on your bed with your shoes. You take them off, you know. So think about that. Look what God is saying. He goes to earth. It's my footstool. That's wow. If the ocean is his footstool, can you imagine for one, for one of his, for one of his feet. Yeah, actually, there's a scripture. I'm really gonna find it. He has said one foot is on the earth and one is on the sea. Yes. What verse is that? You remember that? It's in Revelation. Yeah. Yeah. That's crazy. And if anything, you know, I guess what I'm trying to say is don't forget, we serve a big God. And with God, nothing is impossible. And the things that we think, like, we will never, ever fix a situation. We'll never get out of this situation. Man, God chuckles because nothing's impossible for God. Think about it. Sarah and Abraham, God says, out of you will come a great nation. And Abraham's like, man, I'm just an old man, and my wife is old. She can't even conceive. And God says, watch. Here it is. There's a giant named Goliath that came and challenged Israel. And everybody thought it was impossible. And God says, let me get a little David, watch and see. Okay. - That's in the message so it's all mixed. - Oh, okay, so. - It's crawled down, let me scroll, and then we'll let you change it, the book. - Okay. - This is the same thing you're in there. - It's Revelation 10-2. - Yes, see.
- Okay, yeah. - So let's do USB. - Okay, right there, go ahead. - It says in Revelation 10-2, he had a little scroll open in his hand, and he said his right foot on the sea, and his left foot on the land. - Wow. - No matter, you know, guys, no matter what this world throws at you, no matter what empires have done, kingdoms have come, presidents have done, governments have done, they will pass and the word of God does not. And the Bible says that he is the word. The word was made flesh. You, you know, you are serving a God that's on your side, and to be absent of this body is to be present with the Lord. So no matter what we win, if I'm alive, I can share the gospel, and if I'm not, I'm in his presence. If you live, you share the gospel. If not, it's a win-win. - It's a win-win. It's a win-win. - It's a win-win. He wanted to come here the word. - Oh, it's a little squirrel here. Hopefully he don't attack my face. - Yeah, a little squirrel wanted to come here the word.
- Yeah, I'd show you, but if I move out, he'll probably run. - Look, he looks like he's worshiping him. - Take a picture. - I'm gonna take a picture of this. - For video, new video, and I'll edit it in. - He's listening to the word with us. Yep. He's like, I wanna come here with you guys, gotta say. (soft music) All right. - That made me think it's something else I wanna talk about, actually. So for those of you that don't believe in tongues, and I know it's faked a lot, I get that, but besides that. See, here's the thing, whatever is fake, there has to be a real. When there's a counterfeit, that means there's a real. Nobody counterfeits two, well, there's two dollar bills. Nobody counterfeits three dollar bills. Why? 'Cause there's no real. There'll be no value to a three dollar bill, right? So anyways, people think, what's impossible? There's no tongues, this, and that, whatever, right? Well, think of the languages of this world, and we're just like, God speaks every language. He speaks Spanish, Hebrew, Aramaic, all of them. Think about that. I don't know how many there is in this whole world.
Hello. (laughs) I don't know how many languages there is in this whole world. But think about it that God knows them all. - Amen. - Well, let's go further than that. God speaks squirrel. - Ha, he speaks every language. - He speaks whale. How do I know that? Because he told them what to do. How did he tell them? And what language did he tell the whale? And what language did he tell the turtles? Go to the land, lay your eggs, and leave them there, and then he tells the babies, as soon as you open, run to the sea. He spoke in their language. He speaks aunt, he speaks bee, he speaks praying mantis. He speaks gorilla, he speaks elephant. And you're telling me, oh, there's no tongues, really? But he speaks squirrel. You don't think that this squirrel doesn't know that we're speaking the word of God? Of course, his squirrel does. That's why he feels peace enough to come by here, because he feels the presence of the Lord. Because animals know their maker. The only ones that deny their maker are humans. - Yeah. - When you worship in the middle of where cows are at,
you know, the cows will come to you? - Yeah, yeah, they do. They feel peace. - They feel the presence of their maker, because they know, they know him, because he speaks their language, you know? So how can you deny tongues? But yet not think that he speaks the language of a mat. - Yeah. - That's incredible. The biggest whale on this earth, I don't know which one, a sperm whale, I think, is the biggest, he speaks their language, and then he'll speak the language of an aunt. - Yeah. - That's wild. He's a big god. - He really is. - Maybe you should see-- - Look, we're surrounded with a whole bunch of them coming out now. - Maybe get video that mountain now, instead of doing it, and I'll edit it in. Guys, I want to show you how Morro Bay Rock, Morro Rock looks from here. It's video, right? It's video. 'Cause I can match the voices. - You can match the voices. - You can edit me, but that's God's pebble.
- That's God's pebble. - You know from now on, we're gonna call it God's pebble. - I want you guys to see also, like. Oh, there's a little stick. Oh yeah, there's a bunch of them just coming around us. They're all coming. They're all coming around us, yeah. All the birds, all the animals are coming around us. Show my hand, I'm gonna get some of this. Guys, imagine that rock, being one of these grains in the hands of God. One of these grains is that rock in the hands of the Lord, hands of the Lord. Man, that's hurt. Oh yeah, oh yeah. This is a beach, this is a beach. So we're gonna get you. Go ahead. You guys ready? You ready? Yeah, we'll go ahead. Were we gonna say? No, that was it. Oh, OK. I do want to tell my wife that I really enjoyed this week with her. Me too. And the reason I say that I'm over here saying I was gonna end it, but I wanted to talk about this too, is we were just sharing this with one of the pastor leaders in the woodlands in Texas that when we first met, we would come to the convention in Oceanside, but we weren't married. So we would have an Airbnb and we would bring sisters from the church, brothers from the
church, and I would sleep in the living room. And I would sleep with some of the sisters in a different room and anything. And I remember convention was coming up, it's every October, September, and I asked her to marry me. I asked her to marry me in front of the pool pit at the church. Nobody else was there, huh? Abraham was just meeting you. And it was a Friday, and convention was that Sunday after service. We always leave after Sunday, right? And I remember, I remember exactly how it happened, where I was like, let's get married. I don't want to sleep in the living room. So we went to Stockton to the county to get our marriage license, and then I called my brother and my mom, my dad was at work in the fields, and he was out there working way out there like 15 minutes out. Yeah. And Tracy. And Tracy. And then we called our friend Scott and Rose, and got Abraham, got Abraham, and my dad was at work, and he didn't have his phone. So he was toiling the field guys, he was actually breaking the ground, and he couldn't see. So in order to get to the field where he was at, we had to go through a field. So he was way out there. Sorry. Yeah. Go ahead. I don't want to make noise while you're... Sorry. Yeah. So he was way out there. So we all pull up our car with Abraham, my mom, Angel, and Diana, and Scott, and Rose.
And so my dad, he's like doing these Rose, and he probably sees it, and he's like, what happened? I wonder if he thought something bad happened. Yeah. And he pulls up, gets off the tractor, and his jeans, and cowboy boots, leaves a tractor on. So we're like, we're going to get married. And he was really? I'm like, yeah, right here, right now. And so we got married in the middle of a tomato field. Well, it wasn't a tomato field yet. He was breaking the ground, and he left the tractor on, and Angel married us right there. With the tractor right behind us. So I'm going to give you that picture so you can go the picture on there. But it was very significant because of the fact that he was breaking the ground and seeds were being poured into the ground, because I feel like that to us shows that we're continuously pouring into those seeds and to the ground, and the breaking of the ground. And I think that that's powerful. We're going on next, this 2027 will be 10 years. You've been together for 13 years. It took us three years that we courted, and it'll be 10 years this coming 2027, and we do want to renew all our vowels and have an actual ceremony for 2027. You know what I realize, who we want to marry us? We'll be in California already because of the convention. Yeah. Didn't think of that. Absolutely. So, so guys, we got married in the tomato field. On a Friday, and that Sunday after service, we were able to go to convention. I didn't have to sleep in the living room.
And that's a married couple. As a married couple. And that is why our Grace International Regional Conference is so meaningful to us. Yeah, because it's almost like an anniversary. every time we come to convention. It's, you know, so having a moment alone and having time to just be able to have time to talk or just to spend time alone is very important to us because we don't get these moments very often, so. - And that's why, that's the main reason why ICE decided to come up the coast, away from all the brothers and sisters after the convention to come here. So we could spend time together because of that to, you know, it's our anniversary. Even though it's a little early this year. - I know it's one day, but one day is enough. You know, it's okay. - 'Cause the convention always goes in October, September. So it's not exactly our anniversary, but. - Yeah, it's October 7th is our anniversary. - Yeah, but for us, convention always reminds us another year has passed that the Lord has given us together. So, you know, I just want you to know, enjoy your company, you know, just the same as I did. 10 years ago, you know, and, you know, I wouldn't want it any other way. - Ito. - So, all right, guys, I think I'm gonna get on one of these surfboards.
- Yeah, I don't think he's going to, guys, but we love you guys and we will be coming up and on and see you guys in a little bit. - Yeah, 'cause I'm gonna go to the fish market and get a Poke bowl. Of course, you're gonna see that. That's another reason why we like Morro Bay. Giovanni's fish market and galley, guys. This is the spot right here. What do they got in here? (dramatic music) - You got one trying to get out over there. Trying to reach three. - You don't want to be in here. So, whenever you choose one, guys, they drop them in there. See that's steaming? - They only have three in here right now. (dramatic music) - So, what they sell here is what they catch, guys. (dramatic music) - Good luck, you said sell what you sell. (dramatic music) - I want a few pieces of this. - Yeah, of course. - And I'm with a little quime then. Bye. - This is the best pokey boy I've ever ate. And everything is fresh. Let's see, you got the same as me.
So, it's salmon, ahi tuna, crab, seaweed, and other goodies. On a bed of rice. This is the best. (dramatic music) (dramatic music) - Hey, guys, look at this. It's a rock in the ocean. It's not connected. It looks like it's connected, but it's not. Look at that single tree up there. Let's make it think of it. - Just makes you think that sometimes the most and the most oddest places we think that we won't grow and look at, we will grow and we can. All we need is as long as there's the capability of having life. Look at that, the water isn't it crazy how when the woman went to the well, and he says, "If you drink, if you drink of this water, then it should be outlined for Nick." You know what makes me think about is how determined is that tree to live? Even in the midst of rocks, it's roots, roots, fine water. Guys, regardless of the situation you're in, if you're determined to live, how far were your roots go to reach Christ? It's surrounded by living water. How many storms has that tree withstood, rain, thunder, lightning, waves, wind, and it still survives? Why? Because it's rooted in the rock. Who's the rock? The Lord, you are my refuge and my rock in my fortress.
Look at that. That is beautiful. I'd love to see something. If there's an artist, can you? If there's an artist, can you draw or paint that for us? Because that is really awesome. I wish I could zoom in, but it doesn't let me. I'm going to get out and take a picture. All right guys, we just pulled over. I don't know if these are dears, I don't know what kind they are, but there's a lot of a whole bunch of them. Oh yeah, on the way to the right, there's one laying down, I don't know if you see that one way to the right. I'm sure you have far we are. This is how far we are, but I'm just zooming in. All right guys, we're back, we're still in that we won. We're coming into Big Sur, aren't we? Yeah. Big Sur. Big Sur. And is it this like a famous bridge where they do commercials? Yeah, this is where the commercials are showing a lot, that's why I wanted to show it. I don't know which commercials, but I just know I feel like I've seen it my whole life. It's pretty dry. And now we all drove it together. Yep. It is netting on the right to prevent the length, the landslides, and I was going to show you the round that store guys, but it was like nothing really there. So that's why I showed you the items that we bought, that Pacific Coast Highway sign I'm going to put it up in the podcast room.
Like I said, this is Windy Road, goes all the way to San Francisco and beyond. - Mm-hmm. To fit it again be a lot. (laughing) - Did you think that when I said it? - Mm-hmm. I just didn't want to say anything. - Oh. (soft piano music) It's more traffic now. Back there, that was just us. (soft piano music) Must be fun for those guys on Motorcycle. Those sub-bitures of the adventure. (soft piano music) Hope they have good jackets. I could imagine that when hitting you it was cold. (soft piano music) - When are you gonna get your Honda fix? - I don't know. (soft piano music) - Alright guys, I'll come back. I'm a little bit and show you more. (soft piano music) (soft piano music) (soft piano music) (soft piano music) (soft piano music) (soft piano music) (soft piano music)
(soft piano music) (soft piano music) (soft piano music) (soft piano music) (soft piano music) (soft piano music) (soft piano music) Alright guys, we made it to Monterey. You guys remember Monterey? Actually, right here on the left, that's the Pike Trail. (soft piano music) Say hi, babe. - Hello. (soft piano music) - Oh, this is where we- - A bike trail. - Bike trail, we did. - Yeah. (soft piano music) So, it feels weird passing by the bike trail and not being on my bike, to be honest. Usually we come to Monterey to do the bike trail. (soft piano music) But yeah, we're still Highway 1. We made a great stop, get some coffee in this. Well, I did. - Yes. - You got- - I got something cool to drink. (soft piano music)
You know, this little uphill right here don't feel so bad in my car, but up on my bike. (soft piano music) - Feels a little different. - Yeah, a little bit, little bit. (soft piano music) So, to prove to you- (soft piano music) - That we're still in Highway 1. It's to the left, the ocean. (soft piano music) - Hold on, man. - I see him. (soft piano music) - Yep, the ocean. (soft piano music) So, the adventure continues. (soft piano music) All right, guys. I'll be back in a little bit. (soft piano music) Hello, everyone. The adventure continues. Still Highway 1. already passed upon a ray sun's going down you are saying that oh oh I'm still here she's still here I'm still here I'm Hither you're Hither I'm Hither we should talk like King James I would know how
I'm still here having gone anywhere I haven't shown you a sunset or nothing but look at that sky guys so this is our exit and we're just gonna prolong our adventure guys we're gonna stay here for today and and I'm hoping maybe tomorrow we can get a sunrise maybe maybe did the sunset already yeah I think it's setting right now yeah but there's too much clouds this car scared me yeah I didn't move through it I don't know if you guys have ever seen the old 80s movie Lost Boys with the vampires who's in that movie a lot of famous people but my mind went blank right now your mind went blank too yes guess we were gonna ask hey Google who are the actors of Lost Boys that are famous now Kiefer Sutherland remains the most famous star known for playing Jack Bauer in 24 and starring in numerous films Diane Wyest continues to have an acclaimed career winning two Oscars and starring in major movies and TV shows additionally Jamie Gertz appeared in films like Twister and is well known today as the billionaire co-owner of the NBA's Atlanta Hawks I don't think that you should last dad just hey Google who played in the movie Lost Boys the lost boys stars Kiefer Sutherland Corey Hayne Corey Feldman Jason Patrick Diane Wyest and Jamie Gertz okay sure I'm asked a better question yes thank you so it's an old movie so if you guys remember all these kids hung out at the boardwalk that is still the much the much reason people come here right
Santa Cruz boardwalk are we gonna buy a little soap yeah okay so since we're staying here another night we ran out of clothes guys so we're gonna look we're gonna give us some laundry detergent in the hotel has washing machines but I do want to see if I can show you guys the boardwalk just driving because I'm too tired to get off and walk around but I think we're gonna go buy there so I'll turn this camera back on in a minute yeah a minute get shall come so so so so so (dramatic music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) Alright guys, we're still in Highway 1. (upbeat music) That's the road up ahead, we're just going right along the coast. (upbeat music) And I'll get much better than this. (upbeat music) (upbeat music) We've been wanting to come through here for the last couple of years, but it was closed off because there was a landslide a few years ago. They're in a real bad winter, to get imagine this coast gets hit hard with the storms that come in from the ocean. (upbeat music) So it's been a few years since we've done this ride. (upbeat music)
And this, if you follow it, which we are, it takes you all the way, like I said, to San Francisco and it keeps going. Yeah, look how they have, see how they have stuff on it. Yeah. They have like a net. Oh, there's a net? Yeah, there's nets on some of this here. Because of the rocks, because of the rocks, so they have to put a net on it. (upbeat music) So remember guys, I told you about Highway 99 and Highway 5, go up and down California. So there's four freeways that go up and down, California, which is 99, which is where the church is. Highway 5, then there's 101, and then Highway 1 going around. So these are four ways to go up and down the state of California. (upbeat music) See all these little plants, Sharon loves them. I love these claps. I just made them give one for me. See them to the left and right of us, it's like this long little leaves, it's so fine. I kind of find out what they are. They look like hair when you're close to them sort of, and they're everywhere. So I stopped and grabbed Sharon one. They're to the back of the truck now, they're everywhere. I want more. (upbeat music) Beautiful. (upbeat music) Well this part let's repair too. Oh look, you can see the rock slide, where that must have been where it happened. Yeah. It looks like it's like, yeah, big of the road. You can get all those right here.
Yeah, wow. (upbeat music) You can see how they put net. They built a whole bunch of net and everything right here. Is that one of us like a steel mesh in it? (upbeat music) That must have been the main part. (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) do or want to do or try let me know what you guys think in letters so it would take six days to do it about 65 to 75 miles each day and then rest at a hotel I already checked out the hotels and now I'd have to do 65 to 75 miles to end up over there I'm looking for that store I always stop at I have to I think this is it yeah this is it all right guys this is tradition we always stop here for no specific reason but I just have to well (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music)
(gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) (gentle music) I think this turned from a road trip to conference. I think it's just going to be a road trip of the Pacific Coast Highway. That happens to show a little bit of the conference. That's probably what I'm going to do. Other than the interview we have with Robert Coyne. Pastor Robert Coyone. This is turning me to a really great Pacific Coast Highway. I'm really glad to be able to show some of you, you know, parts of it. I mean, it's hours and hours and hours long, but there we go. I mean, I've always been from California, but I imagine Pacific Coast Highway is probably something a lot of people know about. So I'm glad to be able to show you. I'm encouraged because I do see a lot of cyclists. I will tell you, it looks a little dangerous in some parts. I probably wouldn't want to do it alone. I'd want to do with a small group because of more bikes you have. Not a bunch of bikes, maybe five or six.
It just makes it safer and more visible. But I mean, it's seen a lot of bikes over the last couple of days. So, yeah, this is a little town here. We saw a cavalry chapel back there. I like to see churches. I know cavalry chapel features the gospel very well. They break down Scripture very well. So it's nice to see a cavalry chapel back there a couple of blocks back. So, alright guys, see you in a minute. [Music] [Music] [Music] Alright guys, we are now in Las Beach. During COVID, we got a group of some of our church families and had an Airbnb. We were in a house out here for like three days or three or four days. Yeah, just about. And it was a lot of fun. And I want to see the spot because I have a painting I did. And it was inspired by this place, but I forgot what it looked like and I need to see it again. It's been years. I still remember where the house was making. It's down the street. Yeah, I remember there were dancing construction on there tonight. Yeah. Look at these cyclists, some other ones. [Music] So we stayed at a house down here and then we walked to the beach and I took a picture. And it became, it inspired one of my paintings. What's the house that? The house is right here.
This is it, huh? The cottage. Mm-hmm. It's a little cottage right here. Yeah, that's it right there. The cottage. Right where there's R.V.'s blocking. [Music] Yeah, that's it. This is the house. It's a cute little house. And then we walked down this way, I think we had like five or six couples with us and families. And I think it's down this way and I took a picture and it inspired a painting I did. And all the way to the end. Yeah, it was toward the end here. Mm-hmm. Oh yeah. Yeah, it's right here. Yes, this is it. Yeah, we saw that. We took pictures of this bench right here. Yeah, I'm going to get off and see if I can see that. Let's do it. See you in a minute. [Music] So there was like a house right now. Yeah, there is a house. Yeah, that's, I bet you just made it different. [Music] Yeah, it's a house
People's gonna make it safe for it So that house inspired my painting the way that we'll see the land. You know, that's, that's, I only have two original paintings left that I haven't sold. It's the one with Jesus coming out of the tomb and this painting. I still have the original. Yeah, nobody's bought it yet. But this was where it was inspired. We were here during COVID. We rented that house with the church. And I came out here, me and Sharon walked over here and I took a picture of that. And then I went home and I painted that painting. It's just as beautiful as it was then. Well, it's getting, that's how I chose this. I can get all of it. (soft music) (soft music) (soft music) (soft music) (soft music) (soft music) (soft music) (soft music) All right guys, we just left Moss Beach. Still on Howie one. Going through this tunnel.
Thought you would enjoy that. Hock, come on babe. Thought you wanted? Yes, that's for the Christum Mard guys and gals. Guys and gals. So we're getting closer to the end of our trip. We're now approaching into the town of Pacifica, then Daly City, then San Francisco and man. You know, I didn't anticipate going all this way but once we were on it and then we ended up staying at Santa Cruz, I'm like, I'm gonna give them the full Pacifica Coast Highway trip. It's been a nice drive. Yeah, it has. You've really enjoyed it. So I think, yeah, this tunnel separates Moss Beach to Pacifica, I believe. Pacifica is a small town. After Pacifica, then it's city. You know, Daly City, South San Francisco, San Francisco and the whole Bay Area. Which of course, I'll get that for you too. That way we properly end our road trip. But now we're entering close toward Pacifica. I don't know too much about Pacifica. Hey, Google, give us a little history on the town of Pacifica, California, when did it start, who founded it and what it's known for. Pacifica was incorporated in 1957
when nine coastal communities, including Sharp Park, Linda Mar and Rockaway Beach, voted to unite. Rather than a single founder, local leaders and residents organized the merger to form the new city. Today, Pacifica is best known for its scenic coastal fog, ocean views, surfing spots and hiking trails along the cliffs. There you have it. I could not set it any better. You know, me and Sharon have always said that out. You know, of course, not taking nothing away from other states, 'cause there's some beautiful states out there that we've seen, there's some beautiful states we haven't yet seen, but California, for all its complaints that we can have about the state, I'm sure every state can have complaints, right? About every state. But, I mean, California has beach, mountains, forest, desert, cities, towns, museums, state parks, a little bit of everything, you know? Like, where we're at in Modesto, one hour east is the Sierra Nevada mountains. You're in the middle of San Francisco, you know? Or, I mean, you know, of course, you know, I could gripe about our state. There's a lot of things I don't like. It's a pretty nice state, you know, and hopefully some of you, if some of you don't don't like California, but know nothing about it. I think through our road trip, you kind of got to see a little bit of, a little bit of, you know, bits and pieces of our state. So, I believe this is specific now. And anyway, I'll turn the camera on in a little bit and show you a little bit more. All right, guys, we are at South San Francisco. I took a little creative license because Highway 1 is actually a freeway that goes to Golden Gate.
And this was like a frontage road, but to me, I believe this was, I don't know, officially the real Highway 1, because this goes along the coast to where Highway 1, the freeway goes kind of through San Francisco. I'd rather stay true and stay close to the coast. I'm not sure why it's not called one, because it eventually merges into one. I want it before the freeway. This was one. That's what I'm saying it is. All the houses are like colorful. Yeah, so this is South San Francisco. South San Francisco is actually its own city, guys. It has its own mayor, its own everything. And then it goes into official San Francisco. [Music] It's really foggy, but that's normal for this city. That's actually abnormal when it's sunny. There's just this constant fog coming in from the water. [Music] Let me show them these houses over here. They get how they're all colorful and stacked on each other. [Music] All right, see you in a minute. All right. [Music] So the ocean guides to the left of us, but there's like these little tiny hills. You can't really see the water, but we're going alongside the coast. [Music] And we do want to come back because you guys want the zoo, which we're going to pass the zoo right now. [Music] The San Francisco zoo. I think we want to do the Oakland one now. Yeah, I think we said we wanted to do the Oakland one. Yeah, they said it was better. They more renovated. Yeah. But the zoo I grew up going to was right here in San Francisco. It was a big deal when my dad would bring us. He didn't do it often, but when he did, he was a big deal to go to the San Francisco zoo. But apparently it's kind of run down and Oakland is renovated. [Music] So this would still be the bike ride guys. It would start here in San Francisco. And the more I drive this, how he won, the more intimidated I got.
It is far. Like I said, it'll be a span of six days. [Music] You know, I think this was the original highway one because it said the great highway. Look, their license plate says off road. All right, that's cool. So you know what I found out guys, um, historically. Oh yeah, great highway. Yeah, I bet you it was the original highway one. Is my found out guys that in the 1920s, There was a theme park here, like the one we saw in Santa as Shoots at the Beach, which was renamed Playland at the Beach late in the decade. Playland at the Beach closed in 1972 due to declining attendance, high maintenance costs and rising real estate values. The land was subsequently sold and demolished to build condominiums. I'll turn it on again in a few minutes where that amusement park was. Alright guys, so I believe to the right right here was where the Playland was, this is the great highway in La Playa. I'm not sure where that is, but I think it was close to the cliff house. So look, there's a ocean and we're still on the coast and I believe because this is called the great highway road, I believe this was the original highway one. So I think to the right, are those condos over there? I think so, this is a restaurant right here, where your wildest people are in right there. Yeah, there's the ocean and the beach. So if we're correct, these condominiums to the right was where the Playland was. I'll say they put condos where it was at. Yeah, I believe this whole neighborhood right here was where it was. It's not one. I wonder what it would have been like if they had left it because it probably would have been historic like Santa Cruz isn't it? Yeah, there's Playa.
Yeah, this is it. This whole section right here, wow. So that's a famous cliff house down there, oh, doesn't it? See that building? It's a restaurant, I've never ate there, but it's there for a long time. Hey, Google. What's the history? Yeah, what's the history on the cliff house restaurant? San Francisco's historic cliff house first opened in 1863 as a resort for wealthy visitors overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It burned down twice, once in 1894 and again in 1907 before being rebuilt into the structure that stands today. 1863, wow. So the gold rush was obviously 1949, that's why they're called 49ers. So a lot of that gold that got found guys in the gold rush up in the Sierra Nevada, a lot of that gold got put in banks here in San Francisco, which made San Francisco financially boom because all that gold came here. So is it a restaurant? Yeah. So 1863, so that means after the gold rush, 14 years after the gold rush, the rich people would come here and eat. I wonder if it's still a restaurant though, that's what you're asking right? It looks closed. Oh, yeah, it's closed. Wow, we should open and make it a spread shot. Yeah, I didn't know it was closed. So whenever I do got willing this bike thing, this is where I would start it, just parking up in this building right here is where it would start. It'll be getting right there in that parking lot, all the way down. All right, guys, now we're back on highway one, this is California street.
Lots of traffic. This is a Friday. It's 141 in the middle of the day. And trust me, it will get worse. Four o'clock, five o'clock. It will be gridlocked. But we'll be way out of here and way past that. Way before that, man. (upbeat music) (upbeat music) I believe we have a tunnel coming up. (upbeat music) So San Francisco is a bunch of districts put together as a Richmond District, Marina District, and this is all kinds of districts. This is the Presidio, which originally was, I believe the US Army base back in the day. Yeah, there's a tunnel. General Douglas MacArthur Tunnel, named after Douglas MacArthur. - Yes. - You got San Francisco. - That looks so nice. Show them all that right there. - The Golden Gate Bridge. - Right there. - And the San Francisco City back there. And Alcatraz, right there, that island. Straight. - Right there. - Well, our prayers is that you enjoyed this road trip. We enjoyed it. You enjoyed it with us. We wanted to show you some beautiful spots, beautiful places. And you know, ultimately, whether you watch us for our Sermons Bible Studies podcast, or just the road trips. If you only watch the road trips, I want to pray for you guys. So Lord, I pray for each and every man and woman that's watching this Lord, that somehow some way that this road trip spoke to them, brought peace to their heart, comfort to their heart, Lord God, at the time that maybe they were in a situation where it was just rough and this just helped the days. And we just thank you. I pray for them. I pray for their mental health.
I pray for their physical health. I pray for them, for their salvation, for their families. And we just thank you Lord. In Jesus mighty name, amen. So God bless you. And until the next road trip, which is actually going to be soon. - Yes, really, really soon. Because we're going to be going back to Southern California. And I know you're going to be going down to Oceanside to do a bike ride, right? - Yep. And then Aze. - Yeah, and then Arizona. So it won't be very long from now guys. And we love you guys. And thank you for coming along with us. And yeah, see you guys back at home when we do our letter reading. - Yeah, all right. - All right. - Bye guys, we love you. - Bridge one more time. - Yep. - All right.
