But what you had asked, I do know this, brother, is that I do know that many people, I know people in prison, a lot of people are truly sorry for what they did. And they have given their life to the Lord. And if they have truly given their life to the Lord, you're right. People need to forgive in the same way that the Lord forgives. It's kind of messed up, because a lot of times when they hear that you're an ex-con out here or whatever, people treat you different, because they treat you according to your past. But Christ says, you're not going to forgive. But Christ says, all things that pass away, all things become new. But I will say this, though, is that we have to be realistic. Because let's say if you're a bank robber,

and now you're a Christian, and you get out and want to work at Bank of America, and you're angry because they won't hire you, in this lifetime, you have disqualified yourself from ever working at a bank. That's just the realities of this life. So I don't believe that that is being non-Christian. I think there's things in our lives that we disqualify ourselves from. But I think that we need to be willing to accept those. I think that we need to accept those realities, though. And it's like when people cheat or people do things, we need to accept those responsibilities and accept that. And once again, regain that trust and regain that by our actions. It takes one second to lose trust. Yeah, but again, it takes a long time to regain that trust again and everything. That's why it's so important when you say, let your walk be louder than your talk. We have to lead by example. And I think that's why it's so important that we watch what we do and have accountability in all the things that we do. And I think the best way to do that is just always keep your eyes on Christ. Keep your eyes on Him, and don't let anything distract you. I know there's times that we want to get in the flesh. We want to get mad.

The enemy is going to come and throw things in your way and want to distract you and want to make you get out of character and stuff like that. But don't let it. Don't let it at all. You know, I think me and David were talking about this this morning about self-sabotage, you know. And, you know, the moment, you know, you start to think it's like self-sabotage, you know, do we really want to self-sabotage ourselves? No, let's not self-sabotage, you know, because isn't that what we've done our whole lives? You know, a lot of the times if you're there or if our lives are not going in the direction they're in the way it should be, it's because probably we've gotten ourselves to this point, you know, and we need to be the ones to analyze and be like, gosh, what do I need to do different? You know, how do I get myself out of this situation? And maybe if we focus on Christ and if we stay there and not allow the enemy to, you know, come and throw things our way and not pay attention to that, then maybe we'll get to where we need to get to. So I pray that you keep your eyes on the Lord, and I pray that everybody keeps their eyes on Jesus. Yeah, when I got out, I didn't automatically just get angry when I would go to churches. And I'm not saying that's how you feel, but I'm just sharing myself, my own thoughts. I know where I came from. I know the life that I led, and I lived years and years and years in that darkness. So nobody knew me other than I was a Christian in prison. But I mean, you got a bunch of people that are Christians in prison, and the moment they get out, what do they do? They forget about Jesus. So I understood that. So I didn't take it personal, you know. But I- Even the victim mentality.

You said something about victim mentality this morning, like even different things. I was going to walk my walk, not to prove to anybody else. It's just, that's who I am now. I serve the Lord now. So I'm going to live accordingly to that. And if somebody doesn't want to accept that in the years past, that's on them. You know, that's on them, you know. So, okay. And you've got to understand that at that time, the Hebrew people were so accustomed to constantly having animal sacrifice every time they sinned. I mean, for thousands of years, oh, I sinned. Let me kill this animal. Oh, my family sinned. Let me kill this animal. I sinned. Let me kill this animal. And Jesus came and did it once and for all. So that's what he's talking to the Hebrew people, because they had it so ingrained that they had to kill an animal every time they sinned. And they're like, what are you going to do, keep recrucifying Jesus?

He was the ultimate sacrifice. He was the ultimate sacrifice. So he was trying to change the mindset of the Hebrew Jewish people. So when we read it with our Western eyes, we're like, oh, my gosh. I surrender my life to the Lord, and I keep sinning. So I must be going straight to hell. Now here's the thing, I have a question that if you continue to sin deliberately, habitually, my question is, are you even saved? That's going to be my first question. It's, it's really, really amazing. It's Christian based. It's a nonprofit. It's Christian based. And what they do is they help women and young women and, uh, support them so that they can, um, keep their babies and not abort their babies. And I love it. Um, I just started working there. When was it last week? No, you've been twice on the 27th. Yeah. Last week was my, my first, my first week working there. I work, uh, once one day out of the week, every week. And you guys, I loved it. Um, I love it because not only do they do that, but, um, they help the community out, the low income community, or just the community when they, when they don't have, um, the income or anything for them to get, uh, ultrasounds or to have prenatal care or the care to take care of the things that they need when they're, when they have pregnancies or anything like that. Um, and it's just amazing. But what I love is that they're, they're biblically sound. And when women are coming in there and they don't know, they don't know Jesus,

they, they give them Jesus. It's beautiful. Yeah. Awesome. You know, and, um, guys, it has been just so amazing. I have loved it that just the second time me being there already, um, it has been just amazing to, to just work with these women and to be surrounded by, you know, these babies and just to be surrounded by, by, by this. I'm, I'm really, really excited. Um, it's just a few hours a week, but I love it. So keep this in prayer, keep it in prayer because you know, they go through a lot of, um, a lot of challenges because, you know, you have a lot of these, um, abortion clinics out there and everything that want places like this to close down because of the opposition that, you know, that are coming against them because they, they're wanting to save babies and you got these abortion clinics that are coming against them. So, you know, keep, keep this in prayer with us, you know, um, because they're, they're helping, you know, they're helping the community, they're helping these women. Um, so yeah, keep that in prayer, guys. I'm going to ask, you know, you guys, um, you know, ask us for prayer. And this is one thing that I want you to, to pray with me about because they, they really need more of these type of facilities, you know, where they can help women like this and, and help families and, um, and just help these young women that are wanting to go out there and have abortions and, and teach them about, you know, choosing life, you know? We're actually going to go to Southern California, pick up Abraham. He's back from Houston. It was a lot cheaper to fly him into LA than San Francisco. Only hundreds of dollars cheaper, but we already explained where we're going on the podcast. And something came to my mind as we were driving through here, because when you drive through Highway 99 to Southern California, you go through all the towns, Fresno, Tulare, Bakersfield, and in between all of those cities is a bunch of fields, orchards, fields, a lot of produce, fruit, vegetables, things like that. And you know, as you guys know, my dad, you know, when he was working, was a farmer, worked tomatoes and asparagus. So I grew up around fields all my life. And made me think of the scripture when Jesus says, pray for the harvest, because the harvest is plenty and the workers are few. You know, my dad, for instance, worked the tractor that would throw out the seed for the tomatoes. And he worked hard and he would come home really late and he had this tractor with this attachment on it that he would drive through the rows and it would spray out seed. And in the second part of that machine covered the seed. So automatically right out the gate, there was literally birds right behind my dad's tractor because it knew it was throwing seed. But the second part of the tractor had to cover that seed before the seed or else the seed would get eaten.

Which is interesting, right? Because before the seed is even given a chance, the bird wants to eat it. I mean, we know that in scripture. It talks about that. There are many of us, we receive the seed, we receive the gospel and the enemy wants to take it from you the moment that seed gets planted, before it gets planted in your heart. But let's say we pass that stage and the seed gets in the dirt. The farmer did his job. He laid the seed, he covered it with dirt. And God brings the water and adds the growth. But months later, that field is ripe, full of fruit. And if there's no workers to pick the fruit, all of that work, everything the farmer did to lay the seed, everything the farmer did to bring water to the seed, all those months, if nobody picks that fruit, it'll rot. Do you realize, and I'm sure some of you do, that every single video that we upload, because I'm not there and Sharon isn't there. We're the tractors throwing the seed. And we're throwing as much seed as we possibly can, whether it's a podcast, a Bible study, a Sunday sermon, a road trip, whatever it may be. We're throwing seed like crazy, trying to throw seed in every single place of incarceration, correctional facility, county jail, whatever it may be. We're throwing seed, throwing seed, throwing seed. And the worship, the prayers, is the water. And God's growing. He's growing. Some of you are getting stirred up in your units, in the yard, in solitary, wherever you may be. Guess who the workers are, though, because it's not me, it's not Sharon, because we're not there. We're limited to throwing seed, but Jesus says the harvest is plenty, and the worship

are few. Everyone wants to go to the grocery store to buy the fruit, buy the oranges, buy the plums and the peaches and the nectarines. You know what nobody wants to do? Go out to the field and work. They don't want to go from morning to dusk picking fruit because it's work, it's hard labor. There's so many people that are ripe that have been watching these videos, not just ours, just the other ministries too. The harvest is plenty and the workers are few. The Lord is looking for those who are ready to work. There are people right now that are ripe. You know what happens? Like I said earlier, if we don't pick that fruit it goes rotten. And that might be fine for a tomato or a strawberry, but in a spiritual sense we're talking about people. Men, women, people. People that the Lord died on the cross for, regardless of what you think of them, regardless of their situation, regardless of whatever. We can't let people rot on the vine. So we are going to continue guys, I want to take this chapter slow because I know this whole chapter deals with tongues. I want to make it interactive. I want questions ask. I don't want you to leave this place with questions. We're going to break this down. We're going to talk about it. Same thing for those of you online. I can see your comments. Oh, I forgot to start Facebook. All right, it's live on Facebook. Now. I always forget. But now it's live. Okay. We're going to take this one slow because I think this is important. This is the one that's a huge stumbling block for a lot of people. I'm not going to sit here and say I know every answer, but I've been saved for 22 years, pastoring for 15 years, I've been studying this very thing for a long time, and just trying to get to the root and the core of this belief and not what a lot of times denominations

have made it into or not made it into, and I just really want to dive in and just have a really good study, discussion, opinion, whatever. I think it's important. So we're going to, I think we started off in 1 Corinthians 14, 1 through 3, but we're going to start all over. That way we get a clear understanding of where we're at and not out of context. If we could just bow our heads, let's pray. Lord God, we thank you so much. We thank you for this Bible study. We thank you for this day. We thank you for the air in our lungs that you gave us. We give you all honor and all glory. Lord God, bless this day. Bless this study, Lord God, and bless every person that's watching this, whether through their screen or whether here in person. We thank you so much, Lord. We ask you to speak today in Jesus' name, amen. Okay. Before we talk about it, I just want to remind you that the Corinthian church is a city. It is a city that was very, had a lot of its issues, a lot of problems. I think out of all the churches Paul helped establish, this is probably the most disorderly church. Yeah, that probably sounds better for you guys now. It's probably the most disorderly church, but at the same time, we see all of the gifts being used.

I think that goes without saying is that we have to keep in mind that two things. One is just because you see the gifts of the spirit manifested in a church doesn't mean it's right. So people follow the signs and the signs should follow you actually. The second thing is that even though it was in a disarray church, the Lord still considered it a church. He didn't completely reject it either. So a lot of us are so quick when we see something, we're like, oh, that's a false teacher. That's a false. Hold on. There's a lot of false stuff going on in this church, but God didn't reject it. But yet he called Paul to correct them. Now if they had continued to go on uncorrected, now that's something completely different. That's a different conversation, but I think we have to keep that in mind. Disorderly church. Yes. Be careful not to follow that. But at the same time, don't be so quick to reject it either. Many of us in our walk, maybe you're a different type of believer now than you were the first six months, the first year, the first five years. There's a lot of things that I myself, when I gave my life to the Lord, I think I was very legalistic. And I think it was because I came with the mentality, almost like a pendulum. I was so far in darkness this way that when it came to the Lord, I went completely opposite. And over the years, you kind of got to balance out. And I thank God for that. So probably if you go back 15 years and hear my first year sermons, it probably sounds a lot different than today. And I'm not going to say different like I switched up. I mean, it sounds more refined.

Because we grow, we mature. And there's nothing wrong with that. Imagine if I had said something 15 years ago that I wasn't refined in that yet. And then somebody go and say, look at that false preacher. That'd be like a child that's barely learning to walk and criticizing it because it ain't running. Nobody would do that. Who would do that? You're like, clearly this is a toddler. You don't think he's drunk because he's stumbling. He's a child. He's just learning to walk. And a lot of times as Christians, because we can't physically see the immaturity or the adolescence in somebody's walk, we're quick to criticize them. And we have to be careful with that. I will say this. If there's a 12-year-old that doesn't know how to do things that a 12-year-old should, then it's like, OK, something's wrong. And you take him to a doctor. You're trying to figure out what's going on. on. And in the same way, sometimes there's people in the church that you've been saved for a really long time, and I gotta say, are you just immature or you have been under immature teaching? There's a lot of reasons for it, but I think we ought to be careful with that whole false teacher thing. I think it's necessary when it's necessary, but it's not always necessary. It's just that somebody doesn't know yet, and we all grow in our walk. So with that, we're going to go ahead and start 1 Corinthians chapter 14. We're going to read 1 through 3 in the ESV, and then we're going to do 1 through 3 in the Message Bible. It says, Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts. So right out the gate, we see that Paul is saying, listen, I'm not saying to not pursue the spiritual gifts, but notice he says, pursue love first. Because we just went through the whole chapter 13. He says, I don't care if you

prophesy, speak in tongues, do this, do that. If you don't have love, it means nothing. So I love the fact that he's saying, listen, pursue love, but earnestly desire spiritual gifts. So we know that the gifts are for us. I think I quoted it because I heard it said that an apple tree does not produce apples so it can eat its own apples. I don't know of any tree I don't know of any tree that produces fruit so it can eat from its own fruit. Every tree that produces fruit is to feed everyone else. So in the same way, God doesn't give us spiritual fruit so we can exalt ourselves, so we can eat off of our own fruit. He gives us fruit so we can bless everyone else. And that's really important. You know, we have to understand that, man, whatever gift I do have, whatever it may be, it is not for me. It is for everyone else. And that is important. So he says, pursue love and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. Verse two, for one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men, but to God, for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the spirit. On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation. I'm going to read in a message. We're going to kind of talk about it. I know we did last week, but I just want to really get into this very quickly. Really get into this very clearly. In the message one through three, it says, go after a life of love as if your life depended on it, because it does. Give yourselves to the gifts God gives you. And most of all, try to proclaim his truth. If you praise him in the private language of tongues, God understands you, but no one else does. For you are sharing intimacies just between you and him. But when you proclaim his truth in everyday speech, you're letting others in on the truth so that they can grow and be strong and experience his presence with you. So again, just one through three, Paul is not talking bad about tongues. He's talking as if tongues is a real thing, but he puts it in its place. He says, hey, that's between you and God. That's for you and God. He says, but he says, desire that you may prophesy. Prophesy doesn't always mean the future. He's not telling you to be a palm reader. To prophesy is to speak the things of God, to speak as if God is speaking through you. So when you are sharing about Jesus as somebody, you are prophesying to them. You are speaking life to them. So Paul is like, listen, tongues, that's cool, but desire that you be able to prophesy because that way people can get built up in the truth.

So even right out the gate, we see that Paul is putting tongues beneath prophecy, which prophecy means to proclaim the things of God. So let's pause there and ask ourselves a question. If we have a place of worship and tongues is more important than prophesying his word, is that going against scripture? Yeah, it is. Because Paul is saying to prophesy is more important than tongues. So we gotta be careful. He's not saying there ain't no tongues, he's saying, hold on, it is better to prophesy and speak truth. So these are things that, like I said, we're gonna really dive into this to get a good deep understanding and at any point, if somebody has something to say, please let me know, because we want to get through this and get a clear understanding. Same thing with those of you online. Okay. Yeah, go ahead. The person speaking in tongues, do they understand what it is that they're speaking? Good question. The person speaking in tongues, do they know what they are speaking? I think he's gonna go into, I know he's gonna go into it later, but I will answer your question what I believe. Because Paul says later that if you do speak in tongues, pray that you can interpret. So because of that, that leads me to believe that you can speak in tongues and have no idea what you're saying. Because if that were not true, he wouldn't say, if you speak in tongues, then pray that you can interpret it. But I will say this too. I think I said it last week, is that according to this, the way we see it is that right here he says that one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men, but to God. To interpret is to understand it. Yeah, to understand it.

So he says that for when one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men, but to God, for no one understands him. You know, we can argue this, I'm not saying you're arguing, but we can argue with somebody, but one way could say that not even you can understand it because that's between you and God. That no man can understand it, including yourself. But then he says, but when God has a tongue and a message for the church, then keep your mouth shut if you can't interpret it because you just sound like you're doing gibberish. What good is it if God is speaking through you in tongues to somebody and nobody can interpret, he says, then just don't say nothing or pray that you interpret it. So that's one way of looking at it. You know, so I'm going to say this, okay, I'm going to try to simplify it and I could be wrong and Lord forgive me. I think I said this in the Sunday service one time and how your child sometimes can't say certain words. And was that Desperado? The guitar for Desperado? That was cool. He got all embarrassed. So your child probably has words that only you know. Like Jocelyn probably, I don't know how, does she speak yet? Okay. I don't know what age kids speak. All my kids are adults now and I don't know if they can speak yet. You know what I mean? But your child, when they first start saying things, there's certain things they can't say. So they'll make up their own words for nuggets, McDonald's, cartoons, whatever it is, but you understand them because you're a father. And then somebody else's children will do the same thing.

And somebody else's children. So this is, again, my opinion, because I'm real careful to say that because is, could it be that a lot of times people, because people have argued with the tongue thing and they'll hear five different people speaking tongues, five different churches, five different cities and you're like, it sounds completely different from each other. There's no way that can be a thing as tongues or else they would have sound like a language and all of them would sound the same. But my, I counter that by the whole father thing because the Bible says that he's Abba, our father. And if our, we've been talking English or Spanish or Russian or Chinese, whatever it is we grew up with as a child, our spirit has not spoken. So even though we learned how to speak English as a young child, we never learned to allow our spirit to speak in the spirit. So in a sense, you're going to speak like a child speaks to his father. And here's the thing, honestly, that baby that's making a noise, whatever it thinks it's talking. I remember like when little kids are starting to speak and they put senses together and they make no sense at all. They think they know. they're saying, but after a while as a parent, as a mother, as a father, you you understand what they're saying. I think that when somebody speaks in tongues young in the spirit, no man can interpret it, only your father in heaven. And to everybody else it sounds like gibberish. In the same way, if Jocelyn spoke to you, it might sound like gibberish to me. Sometimes Ezra sounds like gibberish to me. And Angel and Diana know exactly what he wants. And I'm just like, how did you get that from that? Yeah, go ahead. I was listening to that podcast, so about them talking in tongues, they were talking about this church, this lady speaking in tongues. So, and then the guy came up to say that when she was in tongues, she was speaking Arabic, but she never spoke Arabic in her life. And he knew what she was praying to God about. So he said like a lot of people when they're speaking gibberish, it can be

gibberish or they're speaking in a different language without them even knowing that they're speaking another language. I'm glad you brought that up, because that's true. I have heard dozens of testimonies of that. Not from some book, not from this, but other pastors or other revivals that happen or things like that, that somebody goes, happens to go there, that let's say they're bilingual, they're Romanian and they speak English and they don't believe and somebody invites them. And all of a sudden, somebody that is not Romanian has never spoke Romanian, the Spirit of God will come upon them and they will start proclaiming the things of God in the Romanian language. And the person gets saved. I have heard that. How many of you heard that happen before? Over and over and over. So, yes, I'm glad you brought that up, because that, though, is not us speaking unto him. That's him sending a message for somebody here. Well, for example, when we played the song, the Agnes Day Grace Song in the different languages, that was just a song in different languages. And it was powerful. Chains were broken. People were healed. Things happened in the spirit realm and things were happening. And that was just in different languages. So can you imagine the tongues in different languages? It just happens, you know? Yeah, good point, both of you. So again, I want to separate something here. The tongues that you speak unto him are like a child. It could be gibberish. No man understands them. But your Father in heaven knows because he hears your heart. OK, and we're going to get into it more. But I do not see anywhere in Scripture that when he sends a message, it's gibberish. It's either in another language or it's either in a heavenly language, which we're going to talk about right now. And if nobody can interpret, keep your mouth shut. That's what Bible says. Now, let me say this for somebody who says, well, that doesn't make sense. What do you mean a heavenly language? Let me ask you this. In Genesis, when God said, let there be light. What language did he say that in? Don't say Hebrew because Hebrews didn't exist. Don't say Aramaic. Actually, no human existed yet. So there was no human language. So what language did God say, let there be light? That means there's a language in heaven. A language that is so powerful that it caused planets to be formed. Think about that. A language so powerful that mountains and valleys and trees and elephants and giraffes came to be. A language that's so powerful that scientists believe that there was a Big Bang that somehow out of nothing came everything. And that language was so powerful that it caused this to happen. It wasn't English. It wasn't Spanish. It wasn't an ancient language. It was a heavenly language. So you can't tell me that there is not a language that God speaks in heaven that is a pure language. Because God is not mute. He didn't do sign language up there.

It says, let there be light, and it was so powerful there was light. He spoke it. Anybody ever thought of that? There's a language in heaven. So when he. brings a message and gives it to the church. It is a powerful message to prophesy, where God says, if nobody can interpret it, just keep your mouth shut, don't even say nothing. But you should pray that you interpret it, and if there's no interpreter, pray that you interpret it. So again, there's a language that created universes coming down, and there's a language from us that's a little baby just making noises. Does that make sense? Does that help anything? Again, I said opinion, but I've been at this for a long time, and I've thought about this for a long time, and I've heard the arguments a lot of times, and I'm trying my best here, guys. All right, Jimmy Blaze, you get, let's see what you get. Darth Cat with the lightsaber. All right, that's my personal favorite, besides the Kool-Aid one. So let's read, did I answer your question, Joseph? Yes. Okay, thank you. Verse four through five, four and five. It says, the one who speaks in a tongue

builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church. And then he says, now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. There he goes again. He's putting prophecy higher than tongues. Okay, that's the second time he's done it now. And he goes, I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues. That's the third one now. Within five verses, he just put the importance of prophesying over tongues. Unless someone interprets so that the church may be built up. Okay, that's three times. Four times. Why is it then that some places of worship put tongues so high up on the pedestal? You gotta ask yourself that. I speak in tongues, but I know what the Bible says too though. It is more important that I preach the gospel in English than to speak in tongues. But he says, when you speak in tongues, it builds you up. So he, again, he's not dismissing tongues. He's not coming against tongues. He just put it in its rightful place. In the message, it says, the one who prays

using a private prayer language certainly gets a lot out of it, but proclaiming God's truth to the church in its common language brings the whole church into growth and strength. He says, I want all of you to develop intimacies with God in prayer, but please don't stop with that. Go on and proclaim his clear truth to others. It's more important that everyone have access to the knowledge and love of God in language everyone understands than that you go off and cultivate God's presence in a mysterious prayer language, unless, of course, there's someone who can interpret what you are saying for the benefit of all. Amen. Questions, statements, anything? No? Not yet? I mean, it's pretty clear. It's pretty clear. You know, my thing was, when I got saved, I was, I came from a Pentecostal household. My mom, my dad, my aunts, my uncles, everybody. But when I started to study the word, I had to read the word, and I had to make a decision to say, am I gonna read this through the lens of Pentecostalism, or do I wanna take the lens away to see what Christianity is at its core? I had to make that choice.

And it brought some interesting conversations between mom and dad when they would visit me. Honest questions. I'm like, mom, what does it say that, what does it say that, you know, women can't wear this? Listen, man can't wear that. What does it say? You know, just conversations. I'm like, because mom, dad, I want to know what the Word says. I want to build my foundation not on a denomination. I want to build it on what the Word says. I want to understand Christianity in the book of Acts, in the book of Ephesians, not some denomination 50 years ago, 100 years ago, 150 years ago. I want to know what biblical Christianity is at the very core of it. That's just me, because I'm just like, man, I'm over here risking my life in these prisons, willing to die for this. I'm not going to die for the denomination. I want to die for truth. If that's what's going to happen, then let me die in truth. You know, and I think that was really important because a lot of times, you know, even my mom and dad, you know, them, when I started the church, they were still at their church and then they would come here to support me, but they still would go there and then they come here. But when you start to hear truth, and I'm not speaking bad, God, I still know people from the church they went to. Some of them are still my very close friends. So I'm not, you know, talking down or I'm not, I'm not, I really am not. I'm just, this is, this is a journey that I chose to not follow denomination, to follow the word. And to be honest with you, I think even online, it says we're non-denominational church, which I'm starting to dislike because almost non-denominational has become a denomination unto itself. Yeah. And I don't like that either. I'm looking, I'm looking for a better way to say it because originally the Christians were called those of the way, followers of Jesus. And I'm almost to that point, man, where I'm just like, okay, I don't like this non-denominational cover because a lot of what it's turned into is, is, is feminized preachers with skinny jeans. We need, we need men to be men and women to be women in the church and we don't need a feminized church. We need a church that is led by godly men that are going to lead. So yeah, I'm not doing a skinny jeans thing or grow my hair out and it's floppy like this, like flock of seagulls. No. Oh, go ahead.

Is that like a llama? That's what my dad calls them. He calls them llamas. Back to the, back to the tongues. Yes. When I, when I got saved in jail and I got out, there was a preacher that would go in from the Pentecostal church over here, the revival center. Yeah. And so when I, when I got out, he invited me to that church. And when I went in there, they started this enormous service. And then after a while, they just wanted everybody to speak in tongues. And, you know, something, something that I'm aware of is that tongues are never to be taught. No. You can't teach tongues because that's an inner work, spiritual thing that's in you. Yeah. And there, they were just going on and on and on and on until, you know, finally people just, they started tongues. But I didn't, I didn't go back to the church anymore because I knew that wasn't, that wasn't the right thing. I mean, we're, we're barely five verses in. And what is Paul saying? So are we going to listen to scripture or are we not going to listen to scripture? You know, and that's what it comes down to. That's what's really, really important. Oh yeah, go ahead. Yeah. I think what it is, is a lot of them, they say that the evidence of being filled with the spirit is that it's speaking in tongues, which is wrong. It's not correct according to the word of God. But that's one of the reasons they say that. And then just the people are, our nature is to see signs, wonders, gifts. And we think that we gravitate towards that, that that means something. Yeah. Four times? Four times in five verses. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. I agree. I agree. And it's a dangerous thing. In this day and age, we want sensational things. We want exciting things. And we have to be careful with that. Why do they make you feel that you have reached your capacity, though, when you're at certain churches that tongues is your capacity, and that you have reached a limit or your capacity to add tongues, pretty much, and that there's no more than that? Topped out spiritually. Yeah, you're topped out. Yeah, you're topped out spiritually. Pretty much like tongues is the capacity. That there's nothing above that. Yeah, that's a good question Sharon's asking. Why is it sometimes some churches make you feel like tongues is the epitome of all things and you just won the gold medal? Again, as I read scripture, especially these chapters right here, when I read it and when I hear when Paul's talking about tongues, he's not putting tongues as a ceiling, he's putting it as the baby first saying a couple little words. It's actually the foundation, the floor, not the ceiling. Because even here, right here, four times he's saying to prophesy, to prophesy, to prophesy, to prophesy. And instead we have churches where everybody's talking in tongues but haven't brought one person to the Lord, hasn't laid hands on anybody that's sick, hasn't casted any demons out, but they got a gold medal because they speak in a tongue like the same as a child that just makes noises. Again, Paul doesn't talk against it. He just puts it in its place. And we should put it in its place. If we are going to be biblical Christians, we have to put it where it belongs. So yeah, topped out. Yeah, I felt like I grew up feeling that. I came in thinking that I had to reach that potential and that level and that that was it. To me, I thought like, oh my God, those people are amazing. Those are the most, they're the highest because that's what I felt and I thought when I came in as a young girl. I personally know people that have never spoken in tongues, but they can preach and bring people to Jesus. I know people that never spoke in tongues that will cast demons out of your dogs, man. You know what I mean? Like people that move with the power of God, that God has gifted them and anointed them. So I don't rate somebody's Christianity whether they speak in tongues or not. That's silly. That is not Bible. That

is not what I see in the scriptures. I love to speak in tongues, but I put it in its place. So again, we either, are we, Marcelo, what's up brother? You know what, because I want you to feel better. You get the super cat, the super man, super, super cat, super cat. I don't know. He's wearing a Superman suit. Yeah. So it's, this stuff is good, right? Yeah. Just taking our time with this. Go ahead, brother. Speaking in tongues. Again, as a human being, it starts to make us feel a sense of pride and then the enemy will bring that in us. We're not supposed to be the prideful people. When we start reach the plateau, now look at me. That's not something we should have. We shouldn't be looking at ourselves as if we're above anybody. No. Because we are all equal and only God's above. Okay. Oh, go ahead. You know, in front of God, now that he said that, but then on the other side, some people who hold on not speaking, they're like, kind of like, then also, like you said, that they will be like, no, you're not really speaking. You don't speak in tongues and stuff like that. Or when you want to prophesy or, you know, that God's used you for the church to identify the church. And sometimes people will fall back on that too. I love that too, because there's, there's a flip side to that coin. And thank you for sharing that too. That's true. Um, in the beginning of, of me preaching, sometimes I would feel not tongues, but a word bubbling up inside of me that didn't make no sense to me. So I wouldn't say it. And I believe that I was hindering what the spirit of God wanted to do because sometimes Somebody needed to hear that word. Somebody needed to hear what I was saying. How do I know that? Because I don't hold that back anymore. If I hear God say something to me, one time it was at the other building, it was Mother's Day guys. We were giving flowers and it was supposed to be a nice, feel good message. And we wanna honor the moms and all that stuff. And it was nice.

And the Lord rebuked me while I was up there about to end service. Cause I just, you know, everybody wants to take their mom to the restaurant or barbecue, whatever. And the Lord was like, in my heart said, what are you doing? I want you to call women up that have been oppressed by demons and we're gonna set them free right now. And I'm like, it's Mother's Day, God. So I had a choice. All the women are holding little roses. And I'm like, if there's any woman here that wants to be set free from demons, from witchcraft, from drugs, from alcohol, I want you to come up right now cause God's gonna set you free. And we had a whole bunch of women from, I think it was from the, yeah, that day there was a bunch of women from the rehab, like 20 of them. So they filled up the altar. And I just told them, this is on video. I got to find it. It's on YouTube. It's on this channel. And I told them the exact same thing. I told them that word. I said, God's gonna set you free right now.

I said, but first of all, how many of you want to be set free? Cause God's not gonna set you free if you don't want to be set free. And I said, I don't want to be set free. God's not gonna set you free if you don't want to be set free. And there's women that raised their hands. I said, so you're in accord with what I'm about to say cause I'm about to cast that thing out. And they're all in accord. Boom, I started praying. Women started vomiting. I mean, all kinds of women. They had to run for the trash cans. Women are throwing up. Women were just manifesting and women got set free that day. Oh, it was a Mother's Day. We'll never forget. We were running to get trash cans from everywhere because there was black stuff all over the floors and everywhere. But it didn't even end there. It didn't end there. Yeah, it didn't end there. Until the nighttime and the next day, we ended up getting a call from the rehab. Pastor Lydia called us telling us, I still have women still vomiting till the next day.

They continue. You remember that Pastor O? That one, remember that? Yeah, go ahead. It's like I tell you last week, sometimes God changes the schedule. Yeah, God changes the schedule. And he changed everything because that's the way he wanted. Sometimes we limit God to do because we have to go somewhere, we have to. That happened to me, I gotta say, my spirit. Like I told you, one day, a guy, because sometimes we ask God stuff and we don't talk, not even with our mother. We have stuff inside us. But that day, that guy, he's speaking in tongues, you know? And I go like, I tell my son, you understand, you see what he tell me? God spoke to me. He loved me so much that he went and used somebody and talked to me. And he even went and talked to me in the ear because you don't want nobody know because I tell that all the time. John, when I go through something, I don't want because I see people, there's something embarrass you in front of people and they say, but that not from God. Like I always say, because that happened to me,

a guy one day say, you're gonna die in three days. And I go like, and I went and talked to my pastor, I say, look, that guy tell me I'm gonna die in three days. And that message not for me. He say, no, that guy, he's not, that's right. You know, he went emotional, too emotional. Sometimes people, you know? But that guy, he went and tell me what I'm going through, but nobody can understand. Only me, my son say, mom, what you're talking about? He's speaking in tongues. And he's for me that message. That's why I don't judge if I see people like talking in tongues because we don't know. Like, is somebody having delivered that message to a person and maybe not us, but somebody else. But that happened to me and I tell God, thank you, because I thought you don't love me. I feel lonely. I feel like, you know, and I went through so much with my sons and like, you know, I'm talking to him and he went and answered me that day. He even say, when I pray, the guy, he don't even know me. But God know me. You know, that's what I say. And you know, that's my experience. Thank you, thank you for sharing. Thank you. Were you gonna say something or no? No, okay, I thought you had your hand raised.

Man, good stuff. Oh, go ahead. You're gonna give me that on Father's Day. I get that on Father's Day. So, you know, that. day again, God didn't respect that it was Mother's Day. Because what God wants is deliverance. What God wants is salvation. It doesn't matter if it's Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas, Resurrection Day, whatever. You know, God wants His reward. He deserves His reward, no matter what. And I learned a lesson that day. And so when I hear God give me something like that, if God changes my message, if God changes it that morning, then I just listen and I go with it. You know, and most of the time somebody will come up to me and is like, man, you said exactly what I was crying out for God and you answered it. And it was crazy because I wasn't even meaning to go in that direction in my notes. But I just listened to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Imagine if I'd have done that in tongues though. But instead I got what he said and said it in a language that I know. You know, so yeah, that's important. Okay. Oh man, we're almost done with the, oh Constance, thank you so much. I, let's see, what have I not done lately? The spread cat. Thank you Constance. All right. Yes. Because I come from a Pentecostal church. Same here. Yes. I know exactly like how everybody speaks in tongues and I feel like, because there was always an interpreter when everyone was speaking in tongues. But when, even when there wasn't people, that's just the way that they prayed or that we prayed. And I feel like from my experience from coming from that kind of church that when everyone is speaking in tongues, it kind of, and I don't know, I don't, I don't know fully if I understand it or not, but it, it's almost like it brings it to a spiritual level where someone does speak in tongues. And I mean, it's weird because like the church would go quiet. One person would speak. And I mean, you know, if you come from that kind of church, you know, and that's when God has a message for the church. But it's like everyone is in sync and then all of a sudden one person is louder than everyone else and the other's us. And then, and then someone interprets. So I don't know if that has anything to do with, with how, how it may bring, God may send that message. I don't know. But I just wanted to say that because I know that that's the only time I've ever seen it happen was when everyone was praising God in sync. And so I don't know, I don't know if that's. No, I agree with you. I've,

I've experienced those moments. Little churches, big churches where God sends a message in tongues and somebody across the other side of the room will begin to prophesy and begin to interpret it. And it's a word for the church and it rattles the foundation of that church. It changes something, something shifts. So that is true. That is true. You know? But I think what happens is, I think sometimes we seek after something so bad that we want it to be every Sunday, every Bible study, every, you know, how many times do we read that God truly spoke to Abraham or God's truly, you know, it's, it's, yes, he spoke to him and whatnot. But when it was a word, it was, it was something that was going to completely change the direction of everything. And sometimes in churches, when they seek after stuff like that constantly, but there's no change in the church, then it's like, okay, are you manufacturing that? Because then there is real times like that. Cause anytime there's a counterfeit, it means there's a real that has value. So I've been in places too, where God gives a word and sometimes it's a warning. Usually it's a warning. Honestly, let's, you know, it's a warning from God. And, and God is giving a word and somebody interprets it. So yeah, you know, that's why I'm just like, Paul is putting his place as far as the person speaking to God and he's putting his place about prophesying, you know? So again, you know, I, I don't do away with none of that. I think that's important. I think that happens. I believe there's moments though. Okay. I'll say this. There's a grace church years ago where they didn't really do the tongue thing and altar calls and all that, but the core people of the church, they would get together in the chapel. Once a month or once a week, it's been years, I don't remember, there was no outsiders. They weren't trying to evangelize to nobody. It was the people from the church and my God, they would pray and the spirit of God felt so thick in that place and people would be speaking in tongues. That is different because they're not trying to, there wasn't visitors or people that they were trying to share the gospel with. It was a moment where the spirit of God, because the Bible says that he inhabits the praises

of his people. So I believe there's moments where the spirit of God can be so thick in a place that it starts to stir up the hearts of everybody there. But I think that's different. I don't think we should treat every Sunday like that. Every Sunday should be a place where we are speaking in a language where if somebody comes that is not saved, they can get saved. And somebody will say, well, David, that doesn't make sense. I hear you speak in tongues sometimes, an altar call. And I already told you last week, I just get excited sometimes. I forget you guys are there. I try, I promise you, I hold tongues back more than you would ever realize because I'd rather say something in a language that people will know. And then if it comes out, it's because I forgot about you guys. So yeah, there's times me and my wife will pray, just me and her, and we'll start worshiping together and we'll just both be speaking in tongues. You know, so, okay. Oh, go ahead, Ted. I have to bring this up. This was a long time ago when I was first going to church and you were speaking about speaking in tongues. And I really didn't know anything about speaking in tongues because my family were Catholic, most of them. But I remember going to the service

and the lady was up there and she was speaking in tongues. And then when she didn't speak no more, the pastor says, well, we're gonna translate it to English. And another person said it in English, what she was saying. I didn't understand that. Is that true or is it fake? Well, yeah, look what it says here. It literally says it in, I don't know if that was true, but in the Bible it says, he says, I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies, okay, the other part. Unless someone interprets so that the church may be built up. So yeah, so what time we got? Why don't we go a little bit more? That's the first time we haven't even finished a chapter. That's all right. Verse six through eight. He says, now brothers, if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or teaching? Seven, if even lifeless instruments, such as the flute or the harp, do not give distinct notes, how will anyone know what is played? Verse eight. And if the bugle gives an indistinct sound, who will get ready for battle? The message is his think friends.

If I come to you and all I do is pray privately to God in a way only he can understand, what are you gonna get out of that? If I don't address you plainly with some insight or truth or proclamation or teaching, what help am I to you? If musical instruments, flutes, say, or harps aren't played so that each note is distinct and in tune, how will anyone be able to catch the melody and enjoy the music? If the trumpet call can't be distinguished, will anyone show up for the battle? I mean, well said. I have prayed for a lot of people that are sick. I've prayed for a lot of people that are not even saved and they want prayer for healing. I've heard people do this in the mall. They're taught, first of all, the person's awkward, they don't know you. And then you're walking up to them saying, hey, I noticed you're in pain and I'm a Christian, and I believe God heals, can I pray for you? And the person would be like, uh, sure. And then you start speaking in tongues at the mall, at the top of your lungs. What are you doing? See, tongues is for things you don't understand. I understand this person's in pain. So why am I going to pray in a tongue for this person that's not even a believer? What good is it going to benefit them? It's better to say, you know what?

The Lord loves you in the name of Jesus. I command all bones, tendon, and nerves in the name of Jesus right now to wake up, for your organs to wake up, for pancreas to wake up, for your spine to be lined up in the name of Jesus right now. That is doing something because the moment their pain goes away, they understand who did it. But imagine you go up there, I'm going to pray for you, yeah, you know what I mean? Like, what? Come on. God didn't tell us to leave our brains outside in Christianity. Use our brains. Be logical. Do things that make sense. And you know what? I'll be honest with you. Sometimes when I pray for people, I hear it. I hear it in the Spirit. But maybe I'm hearing it in the Spirit because God wants me to say it in the language that person will understand. Maybe it wasn't meant for me to blurt it out, what I'm hearing in the Spirit. Maybe it's for me to interpret so that person can receive what it is they're supposed to receive from God. No word in the Bible does it say to leave your brain outside of Christianity. He gave us a brain for a reason. He doesn't say, well, the moment you become a Christian, we're going to take your brain out. No. We have reason. We have logic. Things make sense.

Things are practical. Because you know what? When that person gets healed, when that person gets delivered, they understand what happened because you prayed to Jesus in a language they understood. Doesn't that make more sense? Did I read it in the message already? Oh, I did, huh? Yeah, I did. Let's keep going a little bit more. Verse 9-12. He goes, So with yourselves, if with your tongue you utter speech that is not intelligible, how will anyone know what is said? For you will be speaking into the air. There are doubtless many different languages in the world, and none is without meaning. But if I do not know the meaning of the language, I will be a foreigner to the speaker, and the speaker a foreigner to me. Verse 12. So with yourselves, since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up the church. I'm going to read it in the message, we're going to talk about it. He says, So if you speak in a way that no one can understand, what's the point of opening your mouth? There are many languages in the world, and they all mean something to someone. But if I don't understand the language, it's not going to do much good. It's no different with you. Since you're so eager to participate in what God is doing, then why don't you concentrate on doing what helps everyone in the church? It's exactly what I'm saying. Imagine we have Sunday service, and I say, Hey guys, instead of preaching the message today, we're going to speak in tongues for 30 minutes.

And there was somebody that walked in that was broken. And they were like, You know what? I was going to kill myself if somebody invited me to church. And within themselves, they said, If I don't hear from you, God, I'm going to off myself. And they came in and heard tongues for 30 minutes. Instead of a word that God gave. Remember, all of heaven rejoices when everyone speaks in tongues. Is that a scripture? No. All of heaven rejoices when a sinner repents. That has got to be the core of our Christianity. Not tongues, not worship songs, not nothing. You can have 20 bags of grocery for somebody. All of heaven rejoices when one sinner repents. He says, I leave the 99 to go and find the one. And when I find him, I put him over my shoulders and I carry him home. That, my friends, is the greatest thing you could ever do. That is the greatest thing. Do I want the power of the Spirit of God to come upon those in the church and the altar and call on people that are crying out to speak in tongues to speak in tongues? Yes, I want that. want all of it but I'll tell you what I'll be honest with you man instead of 20 people speaking in tongues I'd rather have one to get saved that's just the truth and man if I'm wrong Lord forgive me just one more to get saved what greater thing is there guys you have no idea sometimes I want to quit preaching and then I remember the one that got saved that's still here I think of the Joseph's that walked into here lied to his wife embarrassed to tell her he was coming to Bible study he told her he was going to Home Depot he'd come in a Bible study in a Wednesday and immediately leave and I'm like who's this mystery guy and he's

lying to his wife because he didn't know how to tell her that he went to a Christian Church and got saved and when there's moments that I just want to quit I'm just like I'm done I remember the Joseph's and many of you and I keep going and keep going and keep going I'm like Lord as long as you keep setting people free as long as I'll keep going I'll keep going I'll keep going I don't know how we're gonna pay rent I'll keep going I don't have help to do this or help to do that I'll keep going because it's all about him he says put your treasures in heaven I can't take nothing to heaven I'm begging that God lets me take my bike to heaven but he hasn't answered me maybe he has a better one but the only thing that I think transfers to heaven are souls can you imagine someday you're walking through heaven somebody taps you on the shoulder you turn around and they say if it wasn't for you I would have never been here can you imagine that man whoo what if the Lord comes over to your mansion and has a list of names and you're like what is this Lord and he says I just want to show you all these people are citizens of heaven because of you because you answered the call because you said yes yes this is your fruit you know from him just walking up to that altar and just saying yes surrendering and from him planting those seeds and he planted he planted seeds there was so many seeds that this man planted nobody will ever know pastors seeds of pastors that he planted that nobody even to the state still will still will never even know yeah I'll tell them that story before we wrap this up angel has traveled more than me to preaching the gospel he's gone other countries have gone to other states and one time he's talking to this pastor and they're just talking they're breaking bread I forgot where they were gonna go at a conference or something and his pastor was like their angel shared his testimony how he got saved and and then angel asked him he was so when'd you get saved he was oh man he was I used to work out in the fields and he was really he goes what happened he was man this this farmer he shared Jesus with me and he was really wow that's incredible where'd that happen he goes on the outskirts of Tracy he was

this man and he would always constantly talk about Jesus to me he's what he looked like big old mustache it was my dad and this man traveled the country preaching the gospel now two times that happened to angel two pastors and my dad didn't even know he just shared the gospel he just shares Jesus and then he keeps on working had no idea this is what I mean that you have no idea the people that you affect by who you talk to. You can't sit here and tell me, well, I gotta do this, I gotta learn the Bible, I gotta... My dad doesn't... My dad has a third-grade education. So you can't say you're not educated enough or you didn't go to Bible college. Man, that's why this whole series we're doing on the testimonies. Your testimony. You know that? You might not know the Bible, you might not know church history, you might not know Hebrew or Greek or Aramaic, you might not know that, but you know what God has done in your life. And God is gonna send you to people that came out of what you're... That are trying to come out of what you came out of, and they will hear the gospel through you even though they won't receive it from somebody else because they know you were in their shoes before. And you're gonna someday be in His presence and realize that because you said yes, people's eternal, eternity has changed because you shared Jesus with them. I can't imagine anything greater in this world. I will preach it, I'll put up videos, I'll do whatever because I'm just like, how do I know somebody's not gonna get saved? It's all for Jesus because like I said, man, I was fighting 23 to life. That 23 would have ended next year. So I'm on God's time, not mine. I'm on His time. I'm gonna use every opportunity. If I gotta write books to share the gospel, I'll write books.

If I gotta do a video, I'll do a video. If I gotta preach, I'll preach. Whatever it is I gotta do, I'll do it because He's worthy. He's worthy of it because He deserves His reward. Every person, He died for every single sinner. So you know what? Every single sinner belongs to Him because He died for them. So we need to compel them and bring them and share the gospel because I will not, not on my watch, sit back and allow people to go to hell that should have belonged to Him. We need to share the gospel. And I don't mean standing on the street corner and just yelling. I mean live it. Let your walk be louder than your talk. Let people see it in you. I don't know how many people this week were like at a store or whatever and I'd be like, God bless you. I'm thinking I have a Christian shirt on or something and I don't. But they see a glow in you, man. They feel His presence in you and they don't know what it is sometimes. We've seen demon-possessed people start screaming when we see them. I'm like, dude, I wasn't even looking at you. I remember in Stockton, they're like, don't look at me! At a stoplight. I'm like, I wasn't even looking at you. But they know the spirit in them knows who's the spirit in you and greater is He who's in you than he who's in the world. Because then things know. I think I owe Abram. Because I had you waiting, man. First, you get the Cholo Cat and I'm going to give you two because this guy needs salvation,

the J-Cat. J-Cat needs to be saved, man. He's always sweating, texting people all mad. So I guess we're going to end there. We didn't get through the chapter, but that's all right. Where are we leaving off? Just for my... At 12. At 12? Okay. Amen. So we'll start at 13 next week.
