Welcome to another episode on the Unlearned Wisdom podcast with yours truly, Johnny Chang. And in today's episode, we're actually going to be talking about why loneliness drives us crazy, and how protecting your space can slowly turn into isolation. Why being connected doesn't make us necessarily feel close. And towards the end, I'm going to show you guys how to be at peace, even when you're alone. Is there a story that you have maybe somebody that you've mentored that dealt with loneliness? I think we all deal with loneliness. But like, the only thing that I've noticed is my my thoughts amplify at nighttime. Whenever I was lonely, I was super, super like, my thoughts were like microphone to my brain type of thing. It was so loud. I couldn't stop my thoughts. So I learned actually, like, I discovered this when I was locked up, that most of my thoughts were really, really loud, especially at nighttime. And you have time to like think and there's no distraction. And there's no, it's all just reflection. And I learned that most of the time, people think that they're thinking but they're actually listening, listening to who listening to the enemy. No, they're listening to Yeah, genuinely the enemy or like those demonic things, because you guys ever be driving and then like, you think crazy stuff like, what if I just slammed on the brake right now or like, rammed my car into the wall or like some crazy like that. And it's like, why would you think of something like that? Right? Why is it that like everybody when they're young, adolescent, or at least a lot of people I know, have had suicidal thoughts as kids? Yeah, I've never thought of like, if I died, you know, my parents wouldn't miss me. Probably. I'll show them. You ever had that thought? Yeah, yeah. As of I and I've had a young age. Yeah. But and we've all had different like, your situation. It's like, of course, you might would have those thoughts. But it's like, mine wasn't as bad as yours. And yours probably wasn't as bad as mine. Because that's the end result of Satan. He wants to drag us to death. And if you're not saved, and you die in your sins, then where do you go? The fiery lake of fire, they say, right. So I think he just does that to everybody. Why do little kids think it though? Like, why do we think of that as kids is the first thing to like pay back because he wants to get you when you're young. legit, like, think about it, right? When he tried to like, get rid of Moses, what did he do? He did a decree with Pharaoh, and it was like, all the male children get tossed in the in the Nile River. There are babies. When Jesus was a baby, King Herod was like, Oh, slay all the Jewish kids, all the Jewish babies that are that are boys, you know, and so Satan always tries to get us young.
I mean, that it only makes sense because you're literally like, malleable, right? You're like, they could mold you easier, easily influenced, you're easily persuaded. And so Satan will try to mold you. So yeah, makes sense. Just wonder why kids have that thought. You know what I'm saying? Like, just answered you, you sound like somebody I'm just kidding. No, but I'm saying like, like, like, no one was like, yo, the payback to your parents is by killing yourself. Yeah. And I wasn't why I was too young. Do you know why? Because you knew that deep down, they cared about you. And like, the only way to rebel, it was to be like, Alright, I'm just gonna like do something to myself horrendously. Like, even though my parents like, would like didn't like me, but I knew like, man, they're like bluffing. There's no way because you're just taught in the world that parents love their children. It's just how it even if they're like the worst parents, like my dad would still try to be like a good parent in whichever ways he could. And I'm like, I'll show him. You know, it's like, you just want to win at the end of the day. I think that has to do more with like, protecting yourself and gain and regaining control. Because as a kid, you're literally stripped of your control. You're told where to sleep, what to wear, what to eat, what to do. And the only thing you have control of is like, I'll just I'll just stop everything then. And it's like, that's how you win back and earn back your control. I would say that too. I think a lot of times too. It's also like, you have that feeling of I never asked to be brought into this world. And it's like, I can't you I never asked to be brought into this world. And then you're telling me what to do at all times. It's like, what's the point? And then so I could take myself out of it. Yeah, you're all that makes sense. Wow. It's back to the control thing, though. Yeah, the one thing I have control of. Yeah, facts, and the enemy control and the enemy. So why does isolation or loneliness drive people crazy? Because your thoughts amplify when you're alone, right? Like, because there's no distraction whatsoever. You could be distracted, you could cope when you're working, when you have kids, when everyone's awake, and you can't really pay a lot of attention to those things. But as soon as you're alone, that's when things like you basically have to face reality, you kind of have to like reflect, right? So your thoughts then go uninterrupted, and there's no distraction. When that happens, it's very dangerous, right? So that's why there's things like, you know, have you guys heard of like cabin fever? Yeah, like you're out for way too long and I need to start to go crazy it's like when you when you're alone for too long and there's no like
Basis of reality like other humans to kind of ground you so people just go crazy Yeah, have you heard of also that like room where it's like no sound you can basically like hear your heart beating That's crazy and people go deprivation. Yeah, then people go Insane if you stay in that room for like there's this room where you can't stay in for more than like 10 minutes before people Literally lose their mind. Sheesh. Yeah the ultra quiet room. Okay, but my question is God gave us this brain to have these thoughts Why is it always that it goes like when you're alone it goes to negative it seems like because it's the enemy We're never taught to actually distrust our thoughts That's why if in fact, we're taught to trust and believe in ourselves The mantra of the world is what believe yourself follow your heart. Listen to your heart trust yourself Essentially, you got to be motivated and determined and that has to be pulled out of you like every single speech If you guys look at the ESPYs or you look at like, you know fighters or you look at anyone who gives like a valedictorian Type speech it's always believe in yourself guys. I trusted myself You know and when when life gives you, you know lemons you make lemonade like you have to do everything And so when you're taught this then your thoughts go unchecked and then you think you're thinking but you're actually listening, right? And so the Bible speaks about this We have to take every thought captive and bring it to the obedience of Christ Which means bring it to Jesus bring it to the Word of God, but people don't teach that in this world They're like if it's inside of you, that's like your genius. That's your thought You're feeling or your gut exactly that's your guidance. That's your moral compass your ethical intuition whatever it is that they spin it basically is to get you to listen to that and how many times have you guys followed yourselves and Like literally was like dang. I shouldn't have done that. Like I shouldn't have followed myself It's it's really like net negative where you follow yourself and you get something bad like that's happened to me Oh, I'm gonna join a gang boom ended up like really really bad Oh, I'm gonna chase this woman. Boom ended up feelings hurt. Oh, I'm gonna do this drug. Boom ended up addiction Like it's always like that. What about when there's times where people can be like, well my gut led me to Positive outcomes, right? You're listing a bunch of negative things negative things But I've trusted my gut and I got this job or met this person that led to this or it led me back to church That was you know, even like my gut led me to positive things as well that that can happen obviously But then it's like like I said, is it a net positive or a net negative?
so write down do this thing write this write down every single time if you can remember that you trusted your heart and your feelings and is it a net positive or is it net negative in terms of like is it is it did it have a Positive outcome or a negative outcome. I can almost guarantee you It's a negative outcome like every time I followed myself and everyone that I've mentored They've oh, I'm not gonna do homework. Like I feel like I shouldn't do homework. Boom I was uneducated like literally that that's just what it is women who are like, that's my man I'm gonna share my body with him. I'm gonna lose my virginity to that person that first Love that they felt so strongly about and defended to their families and all that is no longer their first love is actually like their Arch-nemesis type of vibe So again hearts are deceitful feelings are deceitful and not every single feeling but most feelings are and they change and if something keeps Changing there's not you can't depend on something. That's wishy-washy There's just no way hmm, and then also we're taught that like our thoughts and our feelings equate to truth That's also another thing. So, you know this validate your feelings type of thing Everyone's always like you got to validate your feelings You guys don't know how many people I've mentored who are like I have to break up with my man I said why is he not providing for you? No, he's providing for me. No, he takes care of me But he's not validating my feelings and I'm like, but he's doing everything. It doesn't matter. I don't feel heard by him She's not validating my feelings and I'm like, okay But if you do that though feelings interpret reality, right? Like if you feel like you're anxious then your reality becomes anxiety. It's like oh my gosh Like I'm losing it if you're having a panic attack Even though there's nothing really going on that feeling is gonna then become your reality But no one that that's not biblical though Like the Bible says feelings are not reality, right reality is reality truth is truth but we tend to think like our unfiltered thoughts are unchecked thoughts are Reality at times that's the danger and that's why people get their thoughts amplified when they're alone because it goes unchecked Right. No one is telling you a make sure that this isn't it And so in our church, we teach like think about your thought where is this not coming from? Does this thought make you you know closer to God or not the issue The issue here isn't loneliness.
The issue is there, cause there's people who are alone and they're perfectly fine. The issue is, are they able to think and reflect on their thoughts and be like, and trace it all the way back to the source? Is it a positive thought? Is it leading me closer to God? Can, do they have these skills? A lot of people don't. A lot of people are like, every thought is my thought and every thought is from God. So if I follow this, they actually think that it's conviction, but it's condemnation. They think it's, you know, something that's good for them, but it's actually guilt. And it's like literally crushing them internally. Yeah, we're just not taught those things. And Satan, he loves to kind of isolate us so that we can believe his lies. Like, you know, you just have to believe a lie like long enough. Like most con men are successful, not because they con you for a long time, but it's that pivotal moment that they just con you and then they like strip you of that thing and then they take off. Like that's how Satan is.
He's like a scam artist, you know? So if you notice, you're not always lonely. It's just that little bit where you're like spiraling and he gets you. All of my friends who've unalive themselves, they were always alone, number one. And it was usually just like if they, the ones who attempted and survived, they were like, dang, I don't, I literally just had to sleep through the night and I would have been okay. Like it takes that one split second to be like, I'm gonna off myself. And then when they follow through with it, it's really life or death. But there's times where people make it through and they're like, dude, I don't know why I did that. I just kind of lost my like rocker. I was like off my mind. And I realized like I shouldn't have done that. And I regret everything now because they end up in mental hospitals and like institutions and they stay there for like a couple of days or like a week and then they come out again and they're like, man, I should have never did that. I don't know what got into me. It's just that little bit you get distracted. So that's why people go crazy. It's just timing, unfiltered thoughts.
You're taught that your thoughts are your thoughts, which not all of them are, right? Like I said, there's times where I'm praying, boom, lustful thought will just enter. I'm talking to my heavenly father and a lustful image will come in and I'm like, what the heck? No, this isn't from God and this is definitely from the enemy. So he can slip these things into you too. I wonder what certain things just push someone over the edge, I guess. If like people have these thoughts and I'm sure you've all felt it to a degree. And I know what you mean. Like right, if you were to just sleep the next morning, you feel completely different, even if it's not suicidal, even if you're just bad, bad tripping about something. But I just, yeah, I wonder what it is. It's just this complete isolation and probably repeated exposure. But what it is, it just pushes some people over the edge. I think it has to do with people trusting themselves directly. Like how strong a person trusts themselves and their thoughts is going to correlate with how down they're gonna go through with the action. Right, so I've noticed people who are whoever, most people who've unalive themselves, they trust themselves to the T.
Like they don't test their thoughts, they trust their thoughts, right, different T's. So like I've learned like, man, the people who really believe that every single thought is from themselves end up very on the other end of that where it's like they unalive themselves. Every person that I'm like just going through my mind, I know a lot of people who've done it, they were all very like strong, educated, smart, intelligent and they had no reason not to trust themselves. And those are the ones that end up really sad and depressed because they can't get themselves out of it. And they're like trying to and they just end up like offing themselves too, you know. Yeah, and they don't open up. That's another thing is when you're isolated, it's okay. But if you just open up to people, like I know numerous people that they were like the light of the party. They had like, do you guys remember Robin Williams? Yeah, like no, it hit like, everyone was like, what? Like he was just always cool and chill. I had a homie exactly like that too. He loved everybody and he was happy and he didn't tell anybody anything and he ended up, you know, kind of, you know, unaliving himself in prison. And we were like, dude, what the heck happened? Like bro was always positive.
He was a light, you know, in all the darkness and it's because he never opened up. So that's one thing I also learned was like a lot of people who say that they're gonna unalive themselves. I don't think they're really there yet. The ones, it's the ones who isolate and don't say anything. Those are the ones you really have to watch. Who just look like there's everything's perfect in their lives, you have to be careful because it's like, that's how a lot of my friends were. They had a lot of money, they had everything and then all of a sudden they're gone. And we're just like, dude, what the heck happened? Like, well, he was struggling with manic depression and like, what? No, well, he was taking meds. Like no one knew anything about it. And it's because they didn't reach out to people because they thought it was weakness. They also thought that they could handle it themselves, which is trusting in themselves and they didn't ask anybody for help. And that's literally what happens to me. That's what I've seen. Yeah, and I see people go crazy too. Like they'll snap in and out of it. Like I've seen videos of people on the street where they'll be talking kind of all crazy or gibberish until you start.
Talking to them and then they kind of snap into a little more a bit of like a normal conversation. Yeah, and it's just like They can be off in their own head or in their own thoughts But once you're interacting with someone it's just kind of like grounding back to reality. Yeah, but for long enough in that isolation I'm, just rambling to yourself talking to yourself. Yeah, you could kill yourself. You could kill someone else You're sure doing kind of crazy things for sure And a lot of it has to do with drugs too. I think people who are on drugs, especially ones that keep you up for like 14 days Like bro, you literally just enter a psychosis and you're just like I think everyone's against me I know a lot of people who did like meth and they were super paranoid Like oh my gosh, my friends are gonna get me and I gotta get them for it's like crazy stuff like that, bro And so yeah, you're you're sleep deprived You're you're 10 years, you know on a bender and you're on a sick one as they say And then you just do crazy stuff after that too Do you guys think loneliness can like genuinely develop mental disorders or issues like 100% what is it like schizophrenia and stuff like that 100% yeah But also just like it doesn't have to be the extreme of like drug addict Meth heads, you know what i'm saying? Think about people that you've met that are just super isolated for too long It could be like an elderly grandparent or something that doesn't really have people that are coming by seeing them every day True just a little off at a certain amount of time, right? Yeah, I guess my question is like what do you think develops people to be lonely like There's a million reasons, right? upbringing mental issues drugs Uh, maybe they were bullied and never had friends and didn't build self confident confidence But overall what are the signs where you're becoming too isolated? What are the signs someone should look out for that shows that they're becoming too isolated? Uh, well number one they kind of disconnect and they kind of like start to just Not come around as often They start to like fall off the obviously isolation is where they're just in solitude and they're moving away, you know
So I think that's why it's important for us to check in on people just randomly I'll text some of the homies like hey, how you doing, bro thinking about you, you know little things like that But if they're not responding or if they just kind of like fall off the face of the earth number one That's a big thing, you know now obviously don't like impose on people because sometimes you could push them deeper into loneliness when someone's trying to get away and then you Pursue them it could actually be like yo, you're like not respecting my space, right? so you can respect the person's space, but you have to realize like number one sign i've i've realized is people just Straight up don't talk to you anymore Communication dies and then from then on they start to kind of be in their own head They start to kind of do all the spirituality stuff They start to do whatever it is to kind of like fill their void and that's another sign now social media They broadcast this type of stuff too where i've noticed people will do the same thing like they'll go from you know being so like kind of grounded to just start like Shifting their messages like posting things that are like it's obviously an like a cry for help But they're not doing it because of like ego or pride or protection or whatever it is And you'll see that too so they will cry out but in ways where it's very encoded it's just like oh, yeah, you know, like i'm doing beach walks more guys, and it's just like That's cool. But like why all of a sudden are you driving two hours to the beach and like you're you're just like Obviously, there's something that you're certain like it's like a seeking type of energy right, and so that's another thing and honestly the third thing is still like You'll notice people trusting in themselves a lot like when they're isolated They don't speak about anything and they just feel so disconnected like you ever try to talk to somebody who's isolated They have no There's no dialogue. Everything is one word. Like how are you feeling? I'm, okay Like it's not there's no convert. There's no there's no like back and forth exchanging right? It's just it's just really bad communication It's obvious stuff, but yeah, so at what point if someone's like, oh I need space does that turn into isolation You know, yeah, because it's not wrong to to want space You know, what if someone what if your friend? What if somebody in our circle is like, hey, johnny I just need some space like you're reaching out to them. Yeah, and then you're like, okay
Yeah, and then at what point does it become negative? I think when people when people just want to disconnect from like people like they do it for comfort Because when you need space it's okay to like come back and gather your thoughts and then come back to god or come back To that person when they're like i'm cutting you off and you start to notice they're cutting everybody off Like i've i've noticed that on social media too where it's like, oh i'm cutting off everyone who's negative to me But what if you're the negative dark cloud, you know, then you're just gonna be the one who's like Not only doing other people a favor, but you're gonna be sitting there like who's gonna nurture you who's gonna like check in on you Right, so needing space is an okay thing, but it should always are you back to God and or draw you back to people and be like, Hey, I'm struggling with something right now and I don't want to like affect you guys, but I'm going to get, I'm going to seek help and do what I got to do. Be in solitude, spend time with God, spend time in my word, you know, do, you know, workouts or whatever, and get myself back on track and I'll come back and like visit you guys, but there's a lot of people that don't do that. Right. And so are they seeking comfort or are they seeking like reconciliation and connection? A lot of people seek comfort more than they do connection. And we as human beings are not made to live in solitude. Like we genuinely have to be around people. When you're isolated, you have the most like mental health issues. You have depression is at an all time high, like obviously suicidal ideations, all time high when you're alone. So like when it starts to drift you into literally like depression and loneliness and things like that, that's when it's a problem. Take the space you need and respect the space you need and respect other people's space. But that doesn't mean like they shouldn't be checking in on you.
And a real big marker of that is when you check in on someone and they start snapping at you for checking in on them, they're now shifted from like, I need my space to like, don't even talk to me anymore. Like, this is not a good, this is unhealthy and it's counterproductive. When does protecting your peace turn into self-isolation? Yeah. What the biggest thing that I've learned is if you are like how to determine if you're, if needing space is negative for you is if your thoughts are always negative. Yeah. Cause I like to spend a lot of time alone as I'm older. Like I'm just too, too tired all the time, you know what I'm saying? True. But I realized that, um, the time I spend alone, I feel more refreshed to go back to the things that I have to do. Whereas in all your examples, it's like, if you're spending time alone and you need space for yourself, but your thoughts are, I don't want to be around people. I don't want, like, I hate my job. Yeah. Like negative thoughts. It's like, that to me is the biggest sign that your, your time alone is now becoming a negative thing and you should probably reach out to somebody. Yeah. Facts, facts. If it doesn't draw you back closer to good people and Jesus, then it's all bad. I would say, and you're on the verge of like, it's dangerous. Now, obviously there's some people who are like, I don't have negative thoughts. I just don't want to be around people. Yeah.
Right. Then you have to get to the root of, of why, because only you guys would know, right? Like if there, if there's a lot of negativity around you, you, you, you have that right to draw that boundary and set that boundary and go, I'm going to go and do my own thing. And that's cool. If you're thriving, that's amazing. Now, if you're like sitting there and you're maintaining and you're again, negative and pessimistic, then I would be like, all right, we got to kind of look into that, you know? So again, solitude and isolation are two different things. What Jeremy's talking about is solitude. He likes to kind of step away to then come back refreshed. And that's always the goal, right? But a lot of people step away to stay away and they're like, nah, I don't, I don't want to be around anybody who doesn't match my energy and who like I'm better than other people. That's also really bad. Cause then that feeds your pride and your ego. And no one wants to be around an egotistical person. And it's always good to be around people cause they'll hold you accountable. So just because someone checks you doesn't mean that it's a bad thing. Are they checking you because they're fighting for you or are they fighting with you and like stepping on you? If someone's stepping on you, you should step away. But if somebody is helping you, right. And lifting you and being like, Hey bro, this is, I noticed something in you, it's for your own good. We should always also hear people out.
We should have receptive skills. Um, why do you think people feel so lonely today in a time that humans are more connected than ever? Because true connection is spiritual, not digital. And a lot of people are connected on a physical level or a digital level or a parasocial level, but there's no heart level connection. Like when you connect with somebody. I used to be in a room full of like a hundred people, a lot of my homies. And immediately after I left, because the connection wasn't spiritual, it was all physical. I would immediately feel empty. Like on the drive home, I'm like calling the homies like, Hey, y'all want to come over to my house? Cause there it needs, it needed to be that constant surface level connection. But now I don't even need to be around anybody. I could be around one or two people who are gospel centered, which is a heart connection and we're literally like united in Christ and we can chill and just like talk. It's way better than sitting there going, Oh my gosh, man, I need to be around all these people to feel like I'm feeling something when really like there's that void inside of my heart. And it's really a spiritual thing, not an emotional thing or even a mental thing, or even a physical thing. Your heart has to be filled spiritually because we are spiritual beings at the end of the day, right? Nothing else is going to fill that void. And that's why rich people don't feel happy. That's why, you know, famous people don't feel happy. Like it's because no one is, when you're famous, I noticed that cause I mentor a lot of famous people.
And I see people following me who are famous. There's this heart of like, everyone wants to use you for something. J. And you only, I started to realize that too, as I got a little more famous, that people hit me up like for handouts. It's like, oh bro, I love the Christianity. Look, I have a cross. Can you promote my CBD company? It's like, what the hell, bro? Like, what are you? You know, it's like, what are you doing? You know, it's biblical because it's not, you know, teach. And I'm just like, yo, like, so I understand why people would be like, dude, do you see me more than just a bag? Do you see me more than that famous person who I could ride off of his clout? Do you see, like, I understand it, right? You have to, there has to be a heart level connection. And again, even though, yes, there's a lot of avenues and outlets to, you know, kind of isolate, the digital era is bad in that nothing, again, is spiritual anymore. Nothing feeds the soul anymore. Like, I remember back in the day when things weren't as leveled up in terms of AI and all that. But if you guys remember the movies back then, were so heart touching.
It was like, even like Home Alone and things like that. I'm like, bro, these are classic movies that touch you and like address real world, like problems and like sadness and depression and loneliness. Now everything is just kind of like surface level. It's like, who has the coolest graphics and who has like the best delivery? And like, it's just, and that's why people are not going out watching movies anymore. They're not, it's just, it doesn't feed the soul anymore. Where back then, every single movie, I would say, like fed the soul in some kind of way. It talked about true love. It talked about surrender. It talked about like a father's sacrifice for the son, et cetera. And it's just like, now I don't see any movies where I'm like, dang, that thing hit. Everything is just kind of like, oh, next on Netflix. Like what's, oh, that's cool. Yeah, that's tight. Oh, that's zombies night. Like it's not, there's nothing that's like hitting this anymore, you know? So- They don't come out with classics like they used to. Okay, well, so then how are we supposed to build a real connection then? Or like, what is the center?
I know you said like, oh, if I get with gospel-centered people, we're brothers in Christ. But it's like, how are you supposed to build real connections right now? Not every conversation is about being brothers in Christ or especially online. It's like, how can we build real connections today? Yeah, I think finding one common truth that both of you guys share. So for me, it's obviously God and the gospel. But for people who aren't even believers, it has to be some kind of common truth, right? Like if you're sitting there and I see like even the anime community are like people who, I don't know, who like go to like raves or whatever. Like they have this heart of like, hey, we like love on each other. We have this one common denominator. So they're actually uniting like on a different level versus just like on a kind of physical level, right? It's gotta go deeper. A lot of people unite mentally. A lot of people unite, you know, emotionally. Those are okay things. But again, I think the thing that sustains the most has to be a spiritual one. It has to be a spiritual connection. And for me, it's like the gospel, right? It's truth, true truth, true good.
If you guys are sitting there and this person is a humanitarian and another person is a humanitarian, once they meet and they kind of form this bond to like help other people or like unite under that one truth, it's very powerful. People do stuff like this all the time where they're like, no one knows about them, but they have the best bonds. They're like, bro, that's my brother right there. Like we both fight for this, or we both focus on this truth. And it's a really beautiful thing. You have to have a common truth. It can't just be a hobby either. It's gotta be something that's like, dude, this is my life. Wow, that's your life too? Right there, people connect. Like it's so much deeper than, you know, surface level things. If you love biblical lessons like this, then you would love my weekly Bible class. Bible class brings clarity, community, and consistency. There are a lot of us who read the Bible, but we don't know how to apply that to our lives. Consistency also, a lot of you guys want to read the Bible and you don't know where to start, how to start, and therefore it kind of discourages you guys to read the Bible.
So every week on Saturdays at 10 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, we go through one chapter and we break down every single verse and apply those verses to your life. And after the Bible class, we also do a group mentor session where you can ask me customized questions and anything about the class and anything about your own life. If this sounds interesting to you, you guys can check the link in the bio and use code WISDOM to get 50% off your first month. See you guys this Saturday at 10 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. What would you say to someone who is in the church, but they still feel lonely? How would you find out if it's necessarily something they have to work on or it's the environment that they're in? It's usually both, right? So like, I think a person goes to church looking for connection and it's also that we're called servants for a reason. We have to serve people. So like, if you're in a church, you have to do a really good job of like making people feel seen, making. people feel loved but not distorting the truth you know there's a statistic that being a pastor is one of the most depressing jobs because literally you're overworked and underappreciated that's just how it is you have to sit there and doctor people up spiritually to be like okay i know this is what you need let me connect you back to god which is a huge task right it's difficult and so i think like it comes down to people have to not only humanize people but they have to think
about them as what would god see this person as like if i meet a person of course i can have my judgments of course i can have my thoughts and my observations about and reservations about these people but what would god the common denominator truth think about this person and that's kind of how i treat people when i meet them too it's like why did god put this person in my life was is it just to like milk them is it just to take advantage of them is it just to crack jokes and be homies no there has to be a deeper thing and as long as you have that mindset whether you're a pastor or a church brother or sister then you guys can start to like have this universal heart of moving things forward on a deeper level does that make sense so let's say that you can't find a community or you you're not really in an environment where you're finding let's say you're just stuck in a bad area you don't have the money to go to a new city or you know really kind of go beyond your your area like what would you recommend to somebody if they're just perpetually alone and have no access to anything else yeah it has to go to you got it you have to find resources and resources and i think digitally is also where it can actually become spiritual in that we have a lot of people in our discord that are five hours away from the nearest church like legit three hours away some people on indian reservations where you're not allowed to even have a church there right like they have their own thing and so they join through discord and they make the digital stuff their congregate it's a digital congregation at the end of the day god says when two or three are gathered there i am in the midst of them in matthew 18 he doesn't say when two or three gather only physically two or three can gather digitally there are people who are only online like bible classes like us we're online ministry we have 800 900 people in the bible class and they all get fed they don't come to a physical church with minds they actually go to other physical churches but they still come and congregate online and so i would say that's also where the double-edged sword is right it's like where there's a positive there's always a negative where there's a imbalance there's always there's always a counterbalance right and so the the gospel when you focus on the gospel through digital mediums like social media and you know uh communities online like discord you can actually hyper focus bro i know people that literally sit there and listen to my discord back to back to back to back unlearned wisdom back to back to back to back literally playing the salvation video once a week oh i gotta refresh this and again that's not a community but they feel like they're there with me they're like bro i hear you preaching and in my head my thoughts are now becoming your voice it's
like don't trust your thoughts don't follow your heart like they learn these types of things how because we we created a community online for them to come and renew their mind daily that's what the bible tells us to do reading the bible renews your mind reading self-help books renews your mind gives you different perspectives and you can do that physically you can do that digitally you can do that i mean parasocially you can do so many things you don't have to be there physical and that's the one thing that people teach is you're lonely because physically you're not there that's only one part of the problem though some people are around a hundred people like i say and don't feel like they're there i i felt so disconnected even when i was around people i was like man i don't feel happy here like i feel i don't feel happy alone i don't feel happy with 100 people in a room i don't feel happy at all like what's going on so loneliness is always this thing where people think you're alone and that means it's a bad thing it's like not necessarily a lot of people who are alone can actually grow with god when they find communities and that's why they're so stuck on our community people return every single day i'll do a main stage it doesn't matter if it's 2 in the morning or 2 p.m in the afternoon or 10 where everybody's supposed to be working there's a minimum five six hundred people in there like minimum right and i'm just like it's crazy because people are genuinely like i need to hear this word i need to hear this word and faith comes by hearing hearing the word of god connection comes through faith as well replace your thoughts with the word of god 100 percent unlearned wisdom podcast 100 percent the flesh feed the spirit guys daily devotionals are back every morning i'll send you a devotional that i personally write rooted in scripture to help you with your spiritual walk with god and make the gospel a habit in your life there's nothing more powerful than starting your day with his word join over a hundred thousand others for your free daily devotional sign up with your email using the link in the description my hopes to help you guys grow with your spiritual life each and every day so okay that leads to the biggest problem with loneliness is you get alone with your thoughts right but all you have is your thoughts and let's say you're a baby christian or whatever it is it's really hard to replace your thoughts with the word of god yeah so what would you recommend to that person if they're really just spiraling all the time i think you have to just go back to the source of understanding we have to unlearn a couple things we have to unlearn that being alone equates to loneliness that's not true being alone does not automatically mean you're a you're a lonely human being right so number one that's number one because loneliness is a feeling
and feelings change so if you base everything off of feelings even if you're around people you're gonna feel alone because it now it it's it's directly i guess it directly depends on your feelings right so we have to unlearn again that feelings are not everything feelings shape reality yes but they are not reality so you have to learn to distrust your thoughts what we always teach and trust the word of god now it's a it's as simple as not you don't have to read the bible 26 times how i did it in the beginning was i would have a depressive thought and then i would literally go to the bible or i would go to google and be like verses for depression and these verses like 10 verses will pop up and then i'll be like all right let me replace my thoughts with this word the bible says i feel lonely right now i feel unseen but the bible says god is omniscient omnipotent he's everywhere all the time and he says i'll never leave you i'll never forsake you i'm right there with you so right there even though i didn't read the bible at that time more than five times or whatever i would go to that verse hebrews 13 verse 5 and pull it and make it mine and be like okay god my thoughts say this you say this let me try to listen to this and i'll even meditate on that lord i'm not feeling it right now i know you told me not to feel but it feels so strong and then now i'm praying to god and it doesn't feel like i'm lonely anymore whereas before that you're just spiraling oh my gosh i'm so lonely what the hell is wrong with me i gotta fix more so it's like hey god you understand right and it really shifts you out of the loneliness feeling of like dude no one's listening to me to the best listener which is god is listening to everything that i'm saying and i'm bringing it back to him so yeah there had to have been times where you were like even in those moments trying to hold on to a verse to be like i want to trust this i want to trust this but your thoughts are still overpowering yes yes so yes so that was a lesson for grace so i used to think right because we get these little unlocks so when i did that i had these unlocks and i immediately my brain goes to spoiled brat mode yeah i found the unlock wow i'm never gonna struggle with my thoughts again expectation boom as soon as it hit me like the next day i tried it and i was like oh yeah here's the thoughts okay i'm gonna go and then it wouldn't do anything for me then i realized oh my gosh god is still showing me that i'm based off of my feelings because now it's a shift i think because i have this verse that i'm not gonna feel it anymore and god was showing you no no johnny even if i give you the verse you need to believe everything by grace so he was teaching me your feelings are not true even when they feel so true dang so i'm sitting there like dang okay all right this is difficult then i would go to pastor
i'll be like pastor i read this verse and i don't know why it's not entering me and he's like that's okay that's why you have to continuously go to god he's trying to teach you that just because you know something what's gonna happen is you're just gonna go to google and find scriptures and not come to god if you could just solve everything with scripture you wouldn't come to god and sit there and sit in your in in that nasty feeling and so i was able to learn that wow everything is by grace just because you guys know these tools does not mean that every single time you yield this tool it's gonna work right elijah had god who helped him and literally you know he called upon the lord and lord helped him but in the next chapter he was running away from bethsheba he was running away from uh uh you know the queen and he was just like uh from jezebel and he was like sad and lonely and depressed and then god came to him god nurtured him and god lifted him up and so all god wants is i don't want anything you to depend on anything but me and the grace of god and so there's times where i'm frustrated and i have to sit with my frustration even now even now i'm like dude i'm I don't understand why. Everything is going well. What's the issue? And again it's those moments where I think back to go, oh yeah, it don't matter what Bible verse I know. It don't matter how trained I am to distrust my thoughts. In this predicament God wants me to just rely on him. So I'm going to sit here and I'm going to wait upon the Lord. And God is going to help me. And genuinely when that comes, it always happens. It always happens where he lifts me out of it and I'm just like, sheesh, okay. And the cycle kind of doesn't repeat anymore. It's like very like short. It's before I would flip out and I would be like, dang, I guess I'm not learning anything and I would feel condemned. But now I don't get condemned.
I'm like, okay, I'm feeling a little stressed out today. God is going to lift me out of this. When he feels like it's the right time to do so. And then that thing gets shorter. Like it used to be so long. I'm like, hello, hurry up, look at me, I'm surrendered. Now it's like whether I surrender or not, that is a surrender. It's to go, God, you lift me when you want to do it. I mean, I'm not going to, I can't take it. I feel like the last couple of episodes, something that really comes up and also just certain things that have been happening in my life all stem from expectation. Yeah. It's like I expect God to treat me a certain way because I've been good and I've been, God, I've been going to church. I've been listening and trying to replace my thoughts. And I've been, you know, being kind to people. And why am I still experiencing basic level of frustration? Or why haven't you helped me? You say in the Bible, look, I'm trusting your word. You say you're going to help me in all things and lift me out. Like why not now, God? And it always is this kind of expectation. Has that thought ever turned you away from God? Like, hey, I've been so diligent and good to you. And then when did you kind of, what was the lesson from that to make you come back? Many times. Many times I didn't realize that I was treating God like a genie and like transactionally.
And so when I was thinking, oh, I'm listening to you. The one thing God taught me was you're only listening to me because I allow you to. I gave you the resources like Pastor Kim. I gave you the Bible for you to read and unlock. You yourself in yourself, Johnny, can never do anything. That was the lesson. I went through all those loops for him to teach me that one lesson was to be like, you, you can't do it without me. You will never do it without me. And once I realized that things changed for me. So even now, right? Like, do I get frustrated? Sure. Do I have expectations? Absolutely. Absolutely. But at the end of the day, it's God who takes care of those expectations. It's God who loves on me and teaches me, hey, Johnny, it's okay to be the way that you are. It's okay to accept yourself for who you are. And so I think the expectations every single day is God also nurturing that too. He's also like breaking our expectations and managing our expectations for us without us even realizing it. Like, I don't want to have expectations. And neither does he want me to have expectations. But it's weird. He'll let me have my expectation to then fall from it to then realize I can't have my expectation almost, right?
It's a weird, like, kind of, like, dichotomy. But it's basically like I'm going to let you struggle to show you in whichever way that you're not humble but I'm humbling you through the struggle to then show you why you need me. It's so crazy. And it's like this for years it's been like this. It's been like this for years. And at the same time, it's a beautiful thing because I also realize there is nothing I'm going to do to ever humble down. If anything, we're getting dubs. Like, we're winning a lot and God is humbling more because he's expanding our humility so that we can handle the blessings because blessings take humility. Like, if you look at Satan, the reason why he was cursed wasn't because he was evil. It was because he was too good and he was constantly blessed. And there was no, there was zero humility in him. So when God was like, nope, you're not going to have the throne, bro was just throwing a fit and he got thrown out. Like, he could not accept. When you spoil a kid too much, they get to the position where they cannot, they will literally, like, melt if you don't give them what they want. And so I'm actually very thankful that God nurtures me to be like, I know you want this and it probably might be good but I'm going to withhold this so that you can grow to get even bigger blessings than this. And I'm actually very thankful once I come out on the other side. Obviously, when you're going through it, no one's going to be happy. But God says, he who he loves, he chastises, right? So he would chastise me time to time. He would show me, hey, you can't trust yourself.
Like, you know this but I'm going to show you again why you have to go through it again. Realize, okay, bring your heart back to zero. Bring you back to this low level heart connection, as we say. And so, yeah, it's kind of crazy. It's like your life is on, it feels like it's on hard mode, but it's on easy mode because of God, right? God is literally like, I'm going to manage it. The things you don't think you need and you don't see, I'm just going to do them and then you'll see it. And it's so crazy because every time he does that, I legit see it and go, I get it. I know why you did that now. And it doesn't matter whether it's the first time or the thousandth time he's broken me. I'm still the same. I don't like being broken up. But at the end, it's always like, oh, I got it. And that's the level of every single time. Guys, after all this time, we're finally coming to the Bay Area and we're throwing two live events. After Service is my free live event where you guys can come and ask your questions. We do a live Q&A, we do a sermon, and we do a meet and greet and a hangout session afterwards. So it's actually March 20th to the 22nd and we're going to San Jose and San Francisco. So text Bay Area to 323-613-3577 to RSVP because although these events are free, space is limited, guys. So we have a location in San Fran, but we do not have a location
in San Jose. So if you're a church and you want to help us advance the kingdom, guys, please text that same number and type host. We'll give you a host form and let's push the gospel together guys. And if you don't remember anything that I said because I'm a certified yapper, then everything is in the description. The thing you said there, it's like it's hard mode, but easy mode at the same time. That I can't explain, but that's what it feels like at times. Like I have more peace in my life than I ever have, but there's still times where I'm just kind of like kicking and screaming. Yeah, you know, I don't know how to put it in words. It's that spiritual life. So on the opposite side of loneliness, when should somebody spend more time alone or learn to be alone? When they're codependent. What does that even mean, John? So when they're sitting there and they're like my identity, my happiness, my comfort, my peace comes from being around people. Then you're slowly teetering into like idol worship territory, right? There are times where you have to be alone. And if you're just using it as a coping mechanism to then depend on other people, whether physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually, it's dangerous because the enemy will work. So the easy test for that is to be like, am I okay if I'm not with this person? Like if I'm not around these types of people, am I going to be okay? And you can test that.
Have you guys ever felt that? I've never felt that in my life where I'm like needed to be around somebody. Like I love hanging out with my friends. I for sure have. Really? Yeah, me too. I get two types of loneliness. It used to back in college. It used to be something like that where I'd be the same way. I would leave a big group of friends that I hung out with all day and I'd be on my way home being like want to come over because it's just you can't even be alone with your own thoughts. It's just emptiness. It's like you rather just be doing something anything whether it's a podcast or just filling your mind with literally anything than being alone like that depend. And it's not that you're necessarily dependent on the particular people you could care less about them. Not necessarily, but it's not that serious. And the other type of loneliness that I would have would be like just like very feelings-based just telling trusting my thoughts but telling myself that like everyone hates me or no one wants to be around me. So those are real. Listen to those. So you need that validation. Don't be around Jeremy when you're lonely. He'll spiral you deeper into loneliness. Jeremy, do you hate me?
Yeah. Why'd you call me? No, but to answer your question. Yeah, it's definitely real. Really? So I mean there's times where I'm like, yo, I want to hang out and be around people but never to the point where I'm like, I guess you're right. I've been I guess I got a lot of grace. I know so many people that are like me and Aaron interesting where we're like we need people. I'm not like that anymore. Honestly, but I used to be I think it also happens with finding your purpose. I think if you find something that fills your heart like work and things like that, then you're like, oh, I got what I need and you feel almost valid through that. You know what I mean? It's like you have something you're chasing which is a target now because I remember feeling like that when I had nothing going on for myself. I was just about to say I'm like, oh because I was broke all the time. I couldn't experience loneliness because I said to work literally no literally though like I was broke, but I was also kind of sitting there like dang. I have time to party and I can mess around still a little bit and it was during that time that I was like, oh, no one likes like I would get mad if somebody didn't hit me back up. I'll be like, yo, what all maybe he doesn't like me like man.
What the hell we were cool and then I'll start spinning narratives all the time and then through that I'm like. I'll just isolate and then I would isolate and it would get worse it would be like dude why why am I so frustrated about not hanging out with certain people and unbeknownst to them I would just completely cut people off and they would come to me and be like dude what happened and I'm like all you know I just feel like disrespected because you guys and hit me up and how come you guys will go out with this group of friends but you don't invite me like what the heck and it was really because I had nothing going on for myself because then when I started to step on the brickies I didn't care about nobody I didn't care if they hit me up to go to this party that strip club what I was like man I'm getting my thing I gotta like push and then and then I started seeing like the reverse effect all bros Johnny's so cold bro he got like Hollywood he got way better than he got a little bit of money in his pocket he thinks he's better than everyone I'm like and I understood it like oh it's because most people who don't have things going on for themselves or at least on the level that they're happy with and satisfied for themselves and their expectations then they start to kind of pour that on to other people or you don't care about me man how come you ain't calling me out while I've been all this other stuff so yeah it's it was it was it was weird it was weird how did you get over it or do you still kind of feel that way um yeah just got busy you just you care a little less when you have stuff to do like I've definitely been in the position where I felt the same way where I'd be upset if other people were doing X Y & Z but then now I'm like grateful if people don't invite me because I don't even have to say no it's like and I see other people still to this day who I have friends who will do anything but work and it's like if that means filling their time with hanging out with a million different people or whatever as long as it's not what spending any time with real whatever their demons are I guess yeah but yeah I think it goes with when your demons clear up a lot of other things clear up it's like when you have when you find your purpose a lot of
things clear up like I remember way back on your old podcast you guys asked me you're like oh when are you depressed and I just had like when I'm bored when I'm not busy and don't have projects going on and don't have clients and when there's enough time to be depressed literally that's how it happens at least for me your depression is over too busy yeah it's like depression is almost a luxury yeah yeah I mean yeah so you never felt like that where you just sit there and there's I feel like you're always on your grind though yeah since you were younger yeah I never had like an opportunity because it's like and maybe but that also like you know I was an anxious person because I never felt like safe but I think that overall I also did a lot of like weird things that I think made me be fine with being alone like I was on that like kind of like soul-searching journey right away after like high school and not being around my parents and so like you know I went to a did a 10-day silent meditation that was like kind of hard and crazy you meditate literally for eight hours a day it's like you get up at 430 you sit on a mat you meditate for an hour then you get a break then you do another hour then you get breakfast then you do another hour yeah when did you start reading a lot of books college okay so and then after you got a college was when you did the meditation stuff yeah okay so I noticed something I don't know maybe and like I I wouldn't read a lot of books so I was always like that sensitive and whatever when I started to read books it kind of opened up my mind a little bit and I stopped being like that for a little bit like it was weird like I think books train you to kind of think a little bit deeper and and and almost take your mind off of certain things too so I think like every person that I know who's read hella books they're like you they don't struggle with though they're like oh he doesn't want to hang out and I'm just like well but you don't think deeper no he did if he doesn't want to hang out he doesn't want to hang out I'll go and I'll read a book I'll do and I'm just like so yeah you think that's what it is my brain because like the thing about books or why because I used to be a huge book book head and I tell everyone to read once I started reading myself yeah it's
because it's like and and back then most times to write a book is really hard you're to find a publisher and it's today anyone can fart out a book and it's not that impressive but back then it's like that's somebody that took 10 years of knowledge or however long their expertise and they condensed it into a book and they're giving you a worldview that you would never get and so books would just open your mind even even like that's why they say even reading fantasy books helps your creativity because like like oh my gosh you start to imagine worlds in your head of somebody that just put words on a piece of paper yeah and that is an interesting thing right when I started reading books about like business or self-help or marketing or how you become successful that was like someone that's done it you read their life story and you're like oh it's possible for me and then you start to hope there's hope there's hope it plants out of you you were getting hope out of the books Yeah, when people were getting hope out of wishy-washy people. 100%. Or it was just giving me a worldview. And I'm like, Oh, this is possible. Okay, this guy, instead of drinking and partying all day, he went out and did XYZ. And that's how they become successful. Great. I'm gonna try that, you know, dude, my even my my vocabulary improved so much just by reading the Bible. And people were like, Bro, how do you are you so articulate with I was like, Go ahead, say something. Go ahead. No, I was just imagine you in the hood. Like thou art about to get the smoke. Got a modern day Shakespeare. This is what you call a tech nine. That's crazy. That works. I'm a bad reader. Obviously, I never read. I've never really read more books. I read hop on pop and that's it. And like, I'm sure there's just like a wealth of knowledge that I never got to understand or intake. I don't know. I just never got to read and would you would you start reading if you had that app that just puts that one letter in front of you? The one letter speed read? Have you seen that? No. Yeah. Remember, they put the word right here and it's like how fast can you read and it speeds up to 900 words per minute. And you can basically know I've never seen that. Basically, what they did is they'll take a whole book and they'll take one. The reason why you read slow is because you have to follow every single line down a page,
right? That's why reading with your fingers faster and whatever it is. But they built this app where it was literally the word doesn't move or your eyes don't move and it speeds up and you're like reading at 900 words a minute and you're retaining it. And what they do is every single letter in a word. So it'll be like the brown cow. H and the will be red. O and brown will be red. So you can focus on one word and you can digest way more. And so and so people are saying, like, imagine if they took all the books that are available and now you're suddenly. We should put that in our Bible app. Yeah, you could read the Bible in a day. It's crazy. You're getting through numbers in a second. There's also apps now, though. There's like an app where you can like it summarizes books. So someone like you who doesn't want to sit and read a book, you could like basically read summaries that would still make you smarter. Yeah. Oh, this guy's like, I don't need that. I'm already brilliant. I have. I didn't realize it was an intelligence issue you were trying to solve for me. I'm just saying, all right, I'll try to get smarter. Thank you. Yeah. What do you tell the class? You think B's or D's? Look, you're wearing bri fit socks. We're hiring guys. Core of the Heart is hiring, but listen carefully. We're not just building a company. We're building one of the fastest growing Christian communities in the world. In just a year and a half, this community has grown to over three million strong and we're nowhere near done. Our mission is simple but massive to build the best tools and resources to help anyone in the world get closer to God. Our first immediate goal is to get a hundred million people into heaven. So I'm very thankful for anyone who supports the mission. I look forward to hearing from you guys. Is it bad to want a partner? Like, let's say you're lonely and like, oh, I want a partner because in the Bible, God wants men and women, right? We're supposed to procreate. Were you shaking your head? No. Do you not know anatomy? No, it's not bad to not want. It's not bad to want a partner. It is bad to base all of your happiness, all of your life on finding that partner. Okay. Not all of my life, but 33% of my life. That's fine. That's fine. A third of your life is cool. I think genuinely, like people go overboard though. I got to find my person. And why do the other people have like, cause they're comparing their, their comparison is a thief of joy. Right? And so God says in all things, be grateful, be thankful. Right? And so if you're single, be thankful. If you're together, be thankful. I mean. Apostle Paul, he's pretty, pretty on point with it. He's like, you don't really need somebody. Like if you have God, that's pretty much all you need, right? Because a lot of people have a person and don't have God and that thing is horrible, right? And so and then there's a lot of people who are super strong in their faith and are completely fine with being alone. So to the people who do struggle with it, you have to kind of think about it. Are you looking for somebody to replace God? Are you looking for somebody to, you know, because you're never truly alone. Like genuinely that you're never just try to talk out to God and you will people are big on feelings. You will literally feel his presence like when you're preaching and you're talking to God when you're reading the Bible, he's there. There's no way that he's not right, but it's again people are are hyper focused on expectations where it's like I'm this age. I should have this by now. I should have these kids by now. I should do X, Y, and Z by now and that right there is like basically trying to move God's hand to like create something in your life that makes sense to you at that moment.
But how much is the outside world that is basically ruined what connection should be? So then as Christians you should try to counter that and really make an effort to basically create human connection and find a partner. Does that make sense? Yes, what I say makes sense. You're right. Many people are influenced by the world and people are moving just based off of what the world's worldly standard is at this age. You should be this age. You should have this X amount of income. You should have this and that or I'm saying the opposite, right? They're like, well, I don't want to participate in dating apps and all the men that I've dated or women I've dated are trash both sides and then they're saying so I'm going to be alone and instead it should be, you know what I'm saying? Now they're going the opposite direction to stay away from a partner because of the influence of the world. Yeah, I think as long you can do that as long as it's not doing it out of hurt again, as long as you're not hurt and fear hurt anything negative condemnation isolation is not the motivating factor. The motivating factor should be I want to be alone because you take two people one person's like I'm alone because all this is fake Christian mingle is just Tinder. They're all equal. They're all evil. Well, I want to be with God. There's this and then there's hey, I've tried these things and I've realized there's nothing that I could draw close to even hold the candle to God. And so I want to stay in solitude with God until and keep the doors open until God brings me a person versus other people who I see them all the time. They'll write it in the chat like I love being alone. And I'm just like, no, you don't you say that but you don't because you're just it's the best thing that's ever happened to me. You know, it's like I got to so don't come after me. But they're they're like that right? They sit there 12 cats. I'm just laughing if you're going still you don't know because God did create us again be with people right and there are people who are humble and there are people who are just angry and saying and wearing the church clothes like well,
I I knew only God can love me versus like only God can love me and I try to find love in places that I shouldn't have found right versus like I try to find love but I realize I'm God's daughter and he has to love me. It's like there's a different type of heart right men to bro. Men are the same like all these women are horrible. It's like bro. Relax, bro. You just you suck. I'm just kidding but genuinely right we have to realize that where is your heart posture? Are you doing it out of like anger right? Because people leak I see it all the time where I'm just like, you know, not all women are that way. No all women are this way. They they make men stumble and I'm just like what bro like keep it in your pants, bro. What are you talking about? Right? And then there's other people who are just like no, you know, all men are like conniving and all men only want one thing. No, there are men out there who genuinely are like no I want to get to know you and you know, I care about you and I want to put God in all of this and I want to preach the gospel there's people like that too. So are you doing it back to your question out of anger and hostility and hurting like hurt? Yeah, you're hurt and you're wrong or are you coming from a healed place where it's like I tried those things. I try to lead my life. I try to pick my partner. I failed, and I'm okay with that, and I'm gonna just pick myself up and grow with God and work on the relationship that bleeds into all other relationships, which is the relationship with God. That's a very fair answer. Lonely, I am so lonely. Stop, we're gonna get claimed. I'm sorry. Because I sing so well and sound so...
Yeah, it was too perfect. Okay, so that wraps up this segment, and if you guys liked it, please like, comment, subscribe, because literally, guys, we have, I don't know, 100,000 subscribers now? 127,000. 127,000. This guy doesn't even look and check. I don't, because numbers don't matter to me. Souls do. Numbers don't matter to you, mean? Give me all the money in your bank account. I do. Literally. Between you two. I'm just kidding. This wraps up the segmentay. But the episode is still going. But the episode is still going. And so I wanted to ask you guys a question. Would you rather get $1 trillion or 10 minutes with Jesus? That's a really good question, but... Trillion dollars. The true answer is you can have 10 minutes with Jesus whenever you want. Oh, wow, bars. Dude, Aaron with the spiritual. Okay, let me rephrase the question. Listen, it's not that crazy. I saw Luke Belmar say that. No, let me rephrase it. Physical Jesus. He pops up on this couch. Which one are you picking?
Does he answer questions? Of course, you're hanging out with Jesus. Shoot, 10 minutes with Jesus. Okay, that's what I'd pick, too. 100%. And what would you pick? I'd be like, Jesus, can you give me a trillion dollars? No, no, no, don't say it, don't say it. Is he a genie? Can you give me a trillion? Before you go back in the lamp? Come on. Wait, so I'd pick the 10. You'd pick the 10. Yeah, okay. Wait, hold up. There's a follow-up question. Let's see what he picks. Dude, we know Aaron already. Yeah, you'd get the trillion? He's like, well, you guys got 20 minutes with Jesus. Tell me what he says. No, I mean. Yeah, yeah. Y'all bring your fireflies and then make me a loom. Yeah. No, I mean, that'd be pretty. I mean, listen, if there was, listen. Yeah, if you want the trillion dollars, just say you want the trillion dollars. Dude, okay, you want the trillion dollars.
What would you need? Listen, even just knowing. You want the trillion dollars. Listen, even under the proposition. Okay, fine, I'll let you just keep going. No, you want the trillion. I want the trillion dollars. Okay, that's fine. But it comes with a lot of caveats and reasoning, but I won't waste your time. Okay, no, go through caveats and reasoning first before I ask the follow-up question. Well, because it's like if the thing is you get to have 10 minutes with Jesus, even that opportunity answers all my questions. Now give me the trillion dollars. Wait, what do you mean given that opportunity answers all your questions? Jesus. Yeah, but you get where I'm coming from. I get what you're saying. No, I don't get it. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if you get it. Did you guys get it? That's all that matters. The girl's main character. No, comments right if you got it. Yeah, that's a good one. Because you just chose trillion to me. Well, listen, it's really just like you don't care about Jesus is what I interpret it. Am I missing something here? Well, okay, so what would you guys say?
Yeah, that's what I was going to say. That was a follow-up question. What would you ask Jesus? Okay, that's easy for me. I had two questions. I didn't mean it came up. When are you actually coming back? And number two, what is the core message of the Bible from you that is 100%? No, no, no. Hold up. You could just, you know what you could do is read the Bible. No, no, no, no, no. You didn't even let me finish. He would literally tell you that. He's going to go and I cannot tell you. No, hold up. Hold up. Hold up. I'd be like, what is the core message of the Bible that guarantees every single person goes to heaven? He's going to confirm the gospel. If he confirms the gospel, I just heard it out of Jesus's mouth. It doesn't matter. You could go. You could be like, well, I heard it from Jesus. Jesus himself. You don't even have to read the book anymore. It came out of Jesus. And if you want to ignore it, then okay. And guess what?
He's coming back on this day. So you have until this day to believe him. No, he can't tell you. Why? Because it says it in the Bible. I got 10 minutes with Jesus. No, it doesn't matter. He's not going to go. Not telling you. He is. He's going to do that. If you read the Bible, you would know these things. Your questions could all be answered. This is what I would ask him. This is what I would ask him. I would ask him things that happened in my life that I'm unclear of as why they happened. Like, why did those things happen? I feel like it wasn't necessary. Lord, what is it? Not in a pompous way, but be like, why did the homie die? All these little things. Obviously, I can figure it out, but I would confirm that, number one. And then I would also ask, how do I gain a person's heart? Like, literally. He, like, with the Pharisees, he wasn't able to gain their hearts. But it's not because he wasn't able to. He's Jesus, he could do whatever. But why is it that he allowed, like, specific certain people to kind of walk away, right? Interesting. Which I think I know the answer to, but again, I would confirm with him. The thing is, love honors choice.
If he loves somebody, you're going to love them enough to let them walk away, right? So, I mean, they didn't want to believe in him, they walked away from him. But I want to be able to be like, is that what it is? Because sometimes we don't want people to walk out of our lives, but I've noticed that the most obedient and faithful thing you can do sometimes is to let people walk out, is to let people go, right? Whereas, like, there's this thing of, like, you can't let people go, you have to fight for them, you have to die for them. I'm like, but Jesus, I've seen you firsthand let people walk out, you know? So, like, similar to how you were confirming what you already know, you think, you know, that was my same thing too. I already know, but I was just confirming it too. Okay, so tell me, what's the first thing you're going to buy with your trillion dollars? 10 Minutes with Jesus. No, I'd probably ask Jesus things like... But you don't get to ask, you didn't choose them. No, no, no, it's okay. Okay, fine. What's freaking legalistic pharisee, Jeremy? On a podcast, that's awesome. Your name is Faramie. Faramie. Because you have pheromones. Hey, but that's so funny, like a hypothetical podcast and I don't let him. Yeah, yeah, nah. I'd probably ask him, what did I have for dinner last night? Are you sure he's real? It's like, how many fingers am I holding? I would probably ask all the classics. I haven't read the Bible, obviously, and I can only therefore go off of what other people tell me it says.
So, if I had the opportunity to just ask him to his face, I'd be like, what is popularly true versus what is popularly exaggerated? Like, did the world literally flood and there was literally two of every animal on a boat? Just things like certain stories like that. Things like... That's valid. Asking how much of the Bible was literal versus like human interpretation. Oh, that's smart. Dang, Aaron. Big brain, Aaron. Which would be really important for me and my own salvation, because then it's like, okay, what... If he was like, oh, it's all 100% freaking true. It's like, great. Let me read this book then. You know what's so funny? Jesus appears and he's like, no, confirm all these things and then I'll believe you. It's like, he's like, dude, I'm right here. Like, I just appeared. Like, is that kind of crazy? There's a lot of misconceptions. Look at James Sexton, who said, oh, I believe in Jesus. I just don't believe he was God's son. It's like, that's just... You can ask him things like that. Okay, how was Mary impregnated? Or a lot of people, there's just, you know, the common questions. And sure, you can have faith and believe him, but if the man is standing right in front of you, you're going to be like, that was true, right?
Like, you're going to just... Maybe you guys wouldn't... He's like, that was true, right? He grabs a water bottle. He's like, it's wine. Here, drink this. Whoa. You tell me if it was true or not. You could taste the truth. But yeah, we don't need to know those answers. We have all the answers. Yeah. That's why I want the trillion dollars. Wow. Because that's something I don't have. True. That's something I don't have. All right, now I understand his... I understand his answer from earlier. Bro's a lawyer. All right, so if you had a trillion dollars, what would you buy first? What's the first thing you'd buy? I want everyone, really quickly before we move on, I want everyone to leave a comment what they would ask Jesus. If you had one question, one question, what would you ask Jesus? Got to be completely truthful about it. There's no games or lies. Just what would you ask? And then I'll answer them on the next podcast. I know what I'd buy if I had a trillion dollars.
What would you buy? A private jet immediately. Oh my God. Why? You love it. You're obsessed with that. Just comfortable travel. They're going to call us Johnny Copeland. We don't have a trillion dollars. It's never... And then they can ask you a question. How'd you get the trillion dollars? Like, turn down a meeting with Jesus. Wait, no way. You anti-Christ. That's so true. You're like, this guy's horrible. You're in the private jet like, yeah. We'll see him in the next lifetime. Comfortable travel is like number one. You love private jets. I know you love it. But just comfortable travel. I like comfortable travel. Money was no object whatsoever. Not even the trillion marker. The first thing that you would prioritize, apparently... Comfortable travel. ...is like the once a month that you travel. I wouldn't.
No, I'd get a private... I'd get a driver. I'd get a private jet. I'd get... Dude, you have learned nothing from me. Literally nothing, dude. Do you know what I would build if I had a million dollars? A trillion dollars? I would build 10 churches in every state. Performative. He said performative. It's crazy. Shut the podcast off right now. That was hilarious. No, legit though. Think about how many people, you guys don't know. Yes, you guys know. Obviously that's coming next. I have a trillion dollars. You didn't let me finish my answer. I have a trillion dollars. Am I going to fly to each state to build churches, John? Hey, do you guys honestly think I would do nothing humanitarian? If I had a trillion dollars, I'd just have the- No, I know you would. You were quick to say private jets. You would get a sauna that's worth 500 billion dollars. Literally. Another 500 billion, you'd build your own compound and keep people out. That's that, bro. And I'd build one church. Okay, you would build churches. What's the first thing that you would do for yourself? That was hilarious. I know that's also for yourself in a way, but what's the first thing that you would do purely for yourself? What's the first selfish thing you would do?
I would buy my parents a home. Okay, that did not- No, that- Selfish thing. That's selfish. I want my parents to have a house. What the hell? I'm trolling. That is a good answer, but- I'd buy my brother James a house. No, legit. He can't say one thing. He can't be like, things that I have. I legit have things that I have. Like, what else do I need? You're hiding money from us. I knew it. I have things that I have. I'm good. If when you go to prison and you live in a freaking bathroom, this place is not- I would get myself a house first. There you go. And I would get myself a nice house, like a beach property. So you prioritize living and you prioritize traveling. A nice beach house. I'd get my parents a private jet. Does my answer become a little- Performative. Performative is good. None of you guys are like, oh, that's very nice, Jeremy. I'd get Johnny a private jet. Hey, Johnny, what you doing this weekend? Dude, performative. Let's go, dude. No, but genuinely though, I'd buy myself a place.
I'd buy my parents- I'd buy my family, my whole family, a nice estate. Not just a place, but an estate. Let them have their own spot. Yeah, that's pretty much it. And then I would build out hella churches. So all the Coth people would just go to churches. Because that's the thing. They always- I know how they feel so- So you guys don't know, man. Certain brothers and sisters, I could just sense the sadness. It's not a bad thing. But when they see our meetups and they can't come. When they see like, oh, we're part of the church. They're just like, dang, man. I wish I could have that. So I know how it feels to be part of a church. It's great to have that community. When you're just sitting at home and your church is Zoom. Which again, it's still a good thing. But it's like, dang, I do sense it. In person's always better. Yeah. Sometimes I tell the brothers and sisters like, chill with that. They go to church and they complain. And I'm like, you don't even know that there's freaking people who don't- Who would kill to be in like a church community in person, you know? To have guidance directly from a pastor. Being told what to do.
It's weird. It's like, you complain when you don't have it. And when you do have it, you also complain that it's not good enough. It's all of these freaking expectations, man. It's always expectations. Everything is always expectations. I swear to you. Everything is always expectations. Dang. I think that's a good way to end it. And also, we can come to you. Just text in. Live events are coming back. We're going to go to like- We're literally re-looking at the sheet of all the hosts that have submitted churches. All the cities that have texted in. We're just going to make it easy on ourselves. And we're just going to go to the places that there's tons of people waiting for us. And there's churches that want to host us. Because we'll go to like North Carolina. Oklahoma. Chicago. Portland. So, it doesn't got to be the biggest city either. We're just going to go where there's a lot of people texting in that want us there. And where there's churches that have buildings. Because the other frustration, like Miami. No church hit us up. And we had to go to a park and a beach. And you guys were very cool with it.
But wouldn't it be nice if we just had a building uninterrupted? Fakity facts. Yeah, if we had a trillion dollars and you built churches everywhere. Dude, we'd go everywhere. We could just go anywhere. On my private jet, we could go to more events because we go faster. Wow. Man. Private jets are the ones that crash the most though. That's right. If you get a tiny one. You think I'm getting a... We've got a trillion dollars. Get a parachute. G-750. G-7? Is that what it is? I think there's a G-700 now. A G-9. Is there a G-9 now? No, I'm just kidding. I'm trying to get the Air Drake. Air Drake. Yeah, like a bomb... I don't even know how to say the name of it. It's like a bombardier global... Bombardier. Bombardier. Bombardier. Is it Bombardier?
747. 747 Bombardier. Oh, is that what it is? Yeah, it's like a bigger one. If I had a trillion dollars, I'd get the new Xbox. All right, guys. Well, that concludes... This is our episode of the Unlearned Wisdom podcast. I hope you guys were able to find this really resourceful. I know that loneliness is, like all jokes aside, is a really big thing. It's almost like a epidemic, right? Like a pandemic. Like a lot of people struggle with it. I believe it's a universal language. So re-watch these things. And if you guys want any of your questions answered too, like write them in the comments. You never know. A lot of people may have those questions and we may answer that in the next episode or on a live or on a main stage. So, you know, comment guys and let us know and be as thorough as you want. Like you don't have to do one line answers. Like legit, like explain your situation and we'll help you guys out. I'm loving the timestamps too, where you told people to leave timestamps. Yeah, leave timestamps too.
Yeah. Leave timestamps, your favorite parts and- Kind of remember to do that in the beginning of the episode. Yes, yes. Keep forgetting. That concludes the episode. See you guys there. And we end always in Unlearned Wisdom fashion with a prayer. So let us bow our heads. And this is a prayer for loneliness. Father God, please allow me to understand and all the viewers here to know that we are always with you, Father God, and you're always with us. You're an omnipotent God, omniscient God, meaning you're always everywhere all the time and you know everything all the time. Lord, you never sleep nor slumber, but many of us, we feel disconnected with you. And how can we be disconnected? It's because the enemy feeds us lies. He tries to shape our reality by telling us his lies as truth. Lord, I rebuke those in Jesus' name. Lord, those thoughts that come from Satan that tell us that we are wicked and we cannot live without you, Father God. Rather, our thoughts are you're with us, Lord.
No matter what we do, no matter what we say, you can never disconnect from us. There is no separation from you because you're always there, Lord. And for that, we're forever grateful. We're forever thankful, Lord. You sent your only son, not only to restore us, Father God, but to die for us, to make us righteous and perfected and holy. And I ask, God, that you allow the brothers and sisters that feelings are just feelings, to understand that feelings are just feelings, and that they're no more important than the enemy's words. Lord, please allow us to put that down, to only trust your word above our thoughts, Lord, and to believe in this ministry of reconciliation where you reconciled us back to Jesus Christ. Thank you, Father God. We leave everything in your hands, Lord. And in Jesus' name we pray, amen. Amen. Hallelujah. Like, comment, and subscribe. Salah.
