And it says, But God the Lord called the man and said, Where are you? How impressive that the first question that is recorded in the whole Bible does not come from the human being, it is a question from God to the human being. The first question is made by God seeking, say seeking, seeking the human being. Adam and Eve have disobeyed, they have sinned, they feel extremely ashamed, and they are hiding. And when God comes to the garden, He does not say, the first thing He says, I knew you were going to water it. Sooner or later you are like the cows. He did not say that.

He did not say, what did you do? He did not say, why did you fail if you had me? How could you do that? Was that one of the questions He asked? No. The first question He asks is, Where are you? Where are you? Not because God did not know, not because He was trying to locate them geographically, but because He was reaching someone spiritually lost. Where are you? It is not a question of information, it is a question of relationship. It is not a question, it is an invitation. It is not a trap, it is a door. It is not a, I will destroy you, it depends on what you tell me. It is, get out of your hiding place, because I still want to find you. Get out of your hiding place, because I am looking for you. The first question of God in the Bible reveals in essence the heart of God. Before any law, before any commandment, before any answer, He asks you a question that says,

I see you, I look for you. There is space for you here, even in your shame. The first question of God in the Bible reveals the heart of God, which is that when you hide, He does not go away, He looks for you. When you hide, He looks for you. How many here know what it is to hide? Many of us. We hide behind a smile, behind the ministry, behind work, behind fatigue, behind silence, behind a, I am fine, thank you, and behind, nothing happens. In our Hispanic community, many of us have learned to survive, to endure, to work hard, to not show weakness, to resolve and move forward. While on the outside, it would seem that we are working, on the inside, we are hidden. And today, the Lord does not ask you in a way of condemnation. Today, the Lord asks you with grace, Daughter, where are you?

Son, where are you? Not to humiliate you, not to expose you, not to punish you, but to bring you back. This relational God does not stay there. He does not stay there. He sends his Son, Jesus. Jesus, who had all the answers, chose to ask questions. This is the first week, of at least three weeks of this series, so I'm going to give you the basics, and then we go to, the basics and theology, and then we go to the practical, in the next few weeks. But Jesus, who had all the answers, chose and came asking questions. I love that. It fascinates me. Because if someone could live giving answers, it was Jesus. There are people you talk to, and what they have is an answer for everything. I'll let you go so you can sit down. When everyone else ignored her, rejected her and pushed her or expelled her, for that woman it was important that she was seen. Jesus asked questions of invitation. He asked questions of invitation, What do you want me to do for you?

A blind man is on the edge of the road asking for help. You and I would say that the need was obvious, anyone could see him, why did he ask? But Jesus asks him, Why? Because he wanted the blind man to name his need. Listen to this, you can't get rid of something until you name it. And he wanted the man to name it, to identify it, and to be part of the miracle. He asked questions of identity, Jesus asked questions of identity, Who do you say I am? The best theological question of all time. People still try to answer that question. Jesus is asking, Who do you say I am? In Matthew 16, he does not give a sermon about his deity, he does not give a sermon about his identity, he does not say that I am the Messiah, the Son of the Living God. He could have given a great sermon, but instead of a sermon, he asks a question. Because he knew that when he asks a question, you process, you handle, you go from becoming a container to a person who processes and is part of reaching the truth for themselves. This is not so, but he asked questions that expose, questions that re-frame, questions that expose. Once he asks the religious, why do you call me Lord, Lord, but you do not do what I tell you? No one would say to Tangana in the Lucha Libre, yes or no? Yes or no? Why do you call me Lord, Lord? It's a question that re-encompasses your theology, your perspective, and where you are. It exposes you, rather. It asks another question to the religious. It says, the parable of the good Samaritan. He asks him, and who of these three was the neighbor? The Samaritan, the one who passed by, the religious. Questions that lead you to think. This is the power and possibility of a question. This is the power and possibility of a question.

Jesus didn't use questions because he lacked answers. Jesus used questions because he loved too much to leave us on the surface. Jesus used questions to connect. Many of our conversations remain on the surface. And this is where the series begins to become practical. And this framework will take us, which I will give you in a moment, will take us through the whole series. But there are questions that only collect data. There are questions that generate reflection. There are questions that help interpret what we are experiencing. And there are questions that transform because they confront the heart. They are different levels of questions. But most of us remain on the surface. We see each other every week. We see each other every day at work. We sit together in the church. We sleep in the same house. We work with the same people. We come to the same church, but not necessarily. We know each other deeply. Why? Because many times we speak without really entering the heart. There are superficial questions. And there are questions that enter the soul. J.R. Briggs wrote a phenomenal book. It's called The Art of Asking Better Questions. And how to improve your relationship with God, your relationship with others, your work, and how to improve your relationships at home.

Today it's only in English. It just came out last year, but it's excellent. And he talks about four levels of questions, each one deeper than the previous one. I told you a moment ago, most of us live most of our lives at level one. Jesus lived at level three and level four. He never asked anyone in the Gospels, How are you? What do you do for a living? Where do you come from? The levels of questions. Let's see. Are you ready? Okay. Level one is information. How are you? Where do you work? What do you do? These are questions that collect data. They are necessary, but rarely truly connect us. The second level is reflection. What was the best thing about your week? Here we begin to come down from our series. What makes you passionate, excited, and excited at this moment in your life? You see how things go. We begin to see who the person really is. Level three is interpretation. What is God teaching you this season? There is a big difference between telling someone, You are going through a difficult season.

And the person who tells you, Well, me too. And there is the deaf and the blind. And there is nothing in the Bible. There is no hope. There is no resurrection. One is worse than the other. Worse than the other. But what if the moment someone tells you where you are, What is God teaching you? You believe in this season while you are going through this moment. Not to question them. Not to insult them. Not to minimize them. But to validate the situation. Validating the person. But recognizing that we are learning to reflect on what God could be doing in them. This is level three. And level four is the transformative. What truth are you avoiding facing? What truth are you avoiding facing that you don't want to register for regeneration? That's a good one, right? You've been on the show for three years presenting. When do you start? I'm going again. Now I have work. Now I have the kids. Now I have the diet. Now I have the trip. No, I don't know.

I don't know. And then I don't know why I keep tripping over the same stone. What truth are you avoiding facing this season? Amen. Thank you. All right? Ha ha ha ha ha. Pero pocas veces preguntamos, ¿cómo está tu corazón hoy?

¿Cómo puedo amarte mejor? ¿Qué te tiene cargado? Pero no después para explicarle cómo te descargas, ni para usarlo en su contra, sino para escuchar y reconectar en qué área de tu vida tú te sientes solo. ¿Qué área tú te sientes sola? ¿Qué te cuesta creer en este momento? ¿Cómo puedo orar por ti? Pero de verdad. No oré por todo. Que estamos diciendo, no te metas, quiero que te quedes en la superficie. No oras así como aseguranza, como cubierta de póliza, pero de decirte realmente lo que quiero que Dios transforme y las dudas que tengo y los miedos que tengo y la amargura que cargo, eso ni te metas, porque mejor que no. Una casa puede estar llena de gente, pero vacía de preguntas que sanan. Entonces después no sorprendemos porque hay matrimonios distantes. Después no sorprendemos porque hay hijos desconectados. ¿Escuchaste bien? Después no sorprendemos porque hay líderes agotados. Padres emocionalmente ausentes de la familia. Jóvenes que se sienten que en la casa nadie los ve. En el trabajo trabajamos duro, trabajamos fuerte porque vinimos a este país a echarle ganas y tener una familia que mantener

y queremos buscar algo mejor, pero pocas veces trabajamos en lugares donde alguien realmente pregunta, ¿cómo estás de verdad? ¿Cuáles son tus sueños? ¿Cuáles son tus aspiraciones? ¿Qué necesitas? ¿Cómo te puedo ayudar a ti como persona? ¿Cuál es tu visión? ¿Estás viendo la diferencia? Y si te hablo de la iglesia, no tenemos que ir muy lejos. Hemos heredado la costumbre de decir y pensar. Es que Dios tiene todas las respuestas y las tiene, pero tú no. Él las tiene, pero tú no. Y te ha dado la posibilidad de hacer preguntas. Hay gente que dice, no, yo no le voy a preguntar, yo solo voy a obedecer. Eso está bueno, pero estás en la superficie. Por eso no madura, por eso no crece. Dios no le tiene miedo a tus preguntas. No nos han enseñado a preguntarle a Dios. No nos han enseñado que podemos tener nuestras preguntas reales a Dios, que podemos traerlas. Pregunta sobre por qué emigramos. Y yo pensé y venía y ahora estoy aquí y pensé que para este tiempo ya hay todavía nada. Preguntarle a Dios de separación familiar. Preguntarle a Dios por qué las cosas son tan difíciles aquí.

Dios, ¿por qué no conecto con la gente? ¿Se atreve a preguntarle eso a Dios? Una persona, imagínese. Por eso estamos aprendiendo a hacer mejores preguntas. Dios no le tiene miedo a tus preguntas. Te dejo esa. Pero algunos crecimos pensando que hacer preguntas a Dios era una falta, era falta de espiritualidad. Era falta de fe. But somewhere we disconnect and think that we shouldn't ask questions. The biblical faith is not to pretend that you understand everything. The biblical faith is not to stay there and think, well, maybe that's how it is. The biblical faith is to take God real questions with a humble heart.

With a surrendered heart. Now, God doesn't always respond immediately. Because He is sovereign, autonomous, powerful. And not the genius of the lamp, nor the psychologist, nor the therapist. He is God. You can ask all night, and He will decide how to answer you, and if He wants to answer you, and in what way. You have to go with humility. But do you know what the Bible says? My Bible, God doesn't reject a humble heart. And when you go with your questions with humility, and you open your heart to Him, and you present your question, and you present your pain, and you present your doubt, and your confusion. This is the season. To learn, the moment we must learn to ask better questions. What I have told you now is not for condemnation, it is not to expose you, nor to torture you. Correct questions create bridges. Cynical and incorrect questions minimize and distance. Correct questions create bridges, where quick answers often raise walls. The invitation in this series is to move from one level to the other, in depth, in your home, in your family, in your work, and in your relationship with God. This produces stronger relationships, healthy relationships, and a deeper faith. I know that we were not taught. I know that it is difficult.

I know that asking questions can be terrifying. Because not only asking the question, but being ready for the answer. And the answer can force you to change. And I don't want to change. I am more comfortable here. Better badly accompanied, and crooked, and crooked, than better to receive the miracle. Because at least here I know my conditions. Here I know my cojera. But there is no authentic, deep relationship, neither with God, nor with people, nor with their church. And we remain superficial. And then we ask ourselves why things don't change. And we get angry with God. But when God speaks to us, we are not ready. We seal our hearts. This week you asked three questions. But I don't want this to stay here. I want you to take this. This is not just a good idea. This is not just a sermon. At home, ask someone, how is your heart really? At work, tell someone, what do you need, and how can I support you? With God. Lord, where am I hiding? Lord, what area of my life am I hiding from you? And then sit down and listen to the answer. Calmly, without hurry. Don't ask in the middle of the traffic, that later you get to work, Lord, I see you right now.

Thank you, but I'm leaving. If you want a real answer, sit down in His presence. Invite Him to that space. And say, Holy Spirit, I give you my life. I give you my heart. I ask you, what am I hiding from you? And then begin to worship Him, and wait in silence for His answer. Go beyond the superficial this week. Change an affirmation for a question. When someone asks you something, instead of giving an answer, or sometimes when they don't even ask you, and you don't want to give an answer. Adolescent parents, for example. Adult parents, they didn't ask you, and we want to give our opinion, yes or no? And we say, he's not going to say anything. But the eyeballs want to come out of our faces. If you don't ask me, I'll explode from the inside. We're so terrified of questions, we prefer to stay in the supermarket. Aha, you called, you went, aha, yes. You're here, okay, good, let's eat. What do you have left? You have to go to the supermarket. And the relationship is breaking up, it's distancing. And one day we realize, I'm alone. I'm alone, I'm alone. Let God use this series to help you get out of where you are.

I want to go back to where we started. I'm going to close with this. If you remember, I started in Genesis. Adam, sorry, had failed. They had sinned. They were ashamed. And they were hiding. And God doesn't shout. He neither condemns them, nor criticizes them, nor consumes them. He asks them a question. And he says, where are you? Where are you? The measure of grace in that question is incredible. Because what God is doing is this. God is saying, Adam, I see you in your shame. I see you in your pain. I see you. But I'm not going to leave you alone here. I'm going to find you. And I'm going to look for you. And I'm going to get you out of where you are. And I'm going to give you a chance. God models from the beginning what we all need to learn. God teaches us to learn. The big questions don't condemn. The big questions create space to be found. And I feel that God is asking that same question here today. Not to embarrass you. But to connect you. To heal you.

To tell you, I know you're hiding. I know you're hiding. I know you're tired. I know you've hardened over time. I know you look weak on the outside, but on the inside. You look strong on the outside, but on the inside. You're weak. You're fighting. But God reminds you and says, but I'm still looking for you. I'm still looking for you. God's questions don't take you away from Him. They take you out of hiding. They bring you home. And they reconnect you with Him and with others. God isn't asking you to have all the answers, or to have a perfect life. He's just asking you one thing. Don't hide anymore. Don't hide anymore. Maybe today God is showing you a wound. An area in which you haven't forgiven. A pending conversation or distance in your marriage. Emotional burden, or simply tiredness and spiritual exhaustion. Or a question that you've been avoiding bringing to God. Today is a good day to get out of hiding. Maybe you got here and you were invited by chance. Or you thought you were just coming to listen to one more sermon. But God brought you here today to ask you, where are you? Where are you? If you're honest, you'd say, I'm far away. I'm tired.

I'm hurt. I'm disconnected from God. But there's good news. It's the news of the Gospel. In Jesus, God doesn't just ask you where you are. He came to look for you. He came to save you. Jesus died on the cross for your sins. He rose again with power on the third day. And today he offers you forgiveness and eternal life. Today he offers you an authentic and genuine relationship with God. You're here today at my voice. And you want to return to Jesus. Or give your heart to Him if you've never done it. I want to take a moment of reflection. If that question touched any area of your life, it means that you need to accept the invitation that He extends to you to come to Him. He came to earth, died and rose again. And today He tells you where you are. If you want to open your heart and give your life to Him, or rededicate your life to Him, I want us to do this prayer together that will appear on the screen. The prayer itself has no power, but if you do it from the depths of your heart, it has the potential to bring repentance, conviction and the forgiveness of God about your life. Let's do this prayer together. Lord Jesus, today I respond to your voice. I recognize that I need you. Forgive my sins. Heal me from within. Take me out of the hiding place. I give you my life.
