Zion Church | Home Work Pt. 4 | Senior Pastor Keith Battle

Summary

Colossians 3 teaches that God desires His order to govern the home and every relationship within it. Divine order is not about one person being more valuable than another, but about recognizing God-given roles, responsibilities, and authority. Wives are called to submit to their husbands as an act of honor, while husbands are commanded to love their wives with selfless, compassionate, and sacrificial love. Fathers are also called to lead their children with gentleness, avoiding unreasonable demands, favoritism, humiliation, or anything that would discourage them.

Mark 6 illustrates this principle when Jesus fed the five thousand after the people sat down in organized groups, showing that humility and order prepared the way for the miracle. First Corinthians 11 reminds us that equal value can exist alongside ordered authority, as Christ is equal with God yet willingly submits to the Father. The ultimate authority is God, and everyone is called to remain aligned with Him before attempting to lead or influence others. For husbands, the primary responsibility is not to force others into line but to make sure they themselves remain in line with Christ. Singles are also challenged to prioritize spiritual alignment with God rather than allowing appearance, personality, finances, or other qualities to become more important than their relationship with Him.

Ultimately, divine order is about humility, responsibility, and submission to God so that individuals, families, and communities can function according to His purpose.
