♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ Easter was incredible, was it not? Come on. Oh, my goodness. Man, we just had a phenomenal Easter. And I want to tell you, we had 51 people cross the line of faith and give their life to Christ. 51. Come on, church, let's celebrate that. Come on, incredible. And that worship, I'm so thankful. That worship was fire. Aren't you thankful for a good church? It's got good worship. It's just incredible. Well, we're in a new series. So if you're new, we're glad you're here. And we got a new series called From Death to Life. And in my quiet time, the Lord put on my heart to do a series and just let people tell their story. The Bible says that we overcome the devil through the blood of Jesus, the blood of the Lamb, and the word of their testimony. And Scripture says that we should let the redeemed of the

Lord say so. And so this series is so powerful because, you know, people can argue theology, but you can't argue someone's story. You can't argue someone's miracle. You just can't. And so we got our best friends on stage today. They're incredible, Doug and Karen Jolly. And I'm going to get out of their way. I want you to put your hands together. All right, come on, stand up, put your hands together. We got a powerful story for you today. And I just want to say thank you, guys. Thank you all for being here. Doug, share your incredible story. This is so powerful. Yeah, so number one, thank you for the opportunity, Tim, to share our story and our testimony. I want to thank again the worship team. Just what an incredible way to lead into. You know, if you ever have the chance to tell your miracle story, you know, sing those songs first because you got to remember that you deserve it all, right? All the praise goes to God. We're so grateful for our story. And it's just a great reminder of where all the praise goes. It's an awesome God story, and it's our privilege to share it with you guys. So this goes all the way back to 2012. We were at Momentum Church. How many in the room were at Momentum in 2012?

All right, all right, we got a few. Like I said in the first gathering, not a lot, which is a win, right? If the whole room puts their hands up, we're doing it wrong, you know? We're a growing church. We're a reaching church. And so I'm glad that a lot of people are new here and haven't heard this story. So 2012, Momentum Church was meeting at Gulf Breeze Middle School at the time. You know, we had a gathering in the main building in the cafeteria at the time, and the kids had multiple areas. One of those areas that the kids used was the gymnasium in the back. It was a separated building. Had a concrete floor with, like, indoor-outdoor carpet over it. In other words, it was very, very hard. And December 23rd, so we're two days before Christmas, was a Sunday, so we're at church, and we're sitting in the gathering, and someone comes in and said, hey, Cole's been hurt. Cole is our son. He was six years old and asked us to come out. He hit his head. So come to find out he was horsing around with some kids that were older than him. He was all boy then. He is all boy now. Yeah, he's got a little bit of dad in him in that regard.

Him and Fear Factor, you know, even preparing for today. Today, I'm like, I called him last night, just making sure he's ready for this thing. And it's like, hey, man, where you at? And he was riding ATVs in the woods. I'm like, let's not make a new story tonight. So we go back there. And for those who know me, I've played rugby for 34 years. So I've seen a lot of concussions, a lot of them. And I was pretty sure that's what we were dealing with. I looked at him. He was a little swimmy, a little scared. But he knew where he was, knew his name, all the things you want to hear. So anyway, we decided to take him and gather him with us. So he sat with us. Again, lethargic, but not too bad. At the time, we're very lucky that my parents try to come down at least a couple times a year. But typically, during that time, they'll rent a house on the beach. And we'll do a little staycation and move out there for a month or so. So we were staying out at the beach at the time. Service ends, and we decide, you know, let's go to lunch, and then back out to the beach. During lunch, he was getting worse, just super sleepy, couldn't stay awake, very lethargic. And we finish up lunch and head back to the house. And as we're getting out of the car, he throws up.

And that's when I was like, oh, man, like, this might be a little worse than I thought. Yeah, so at that point, I had a dear friend who was a nurse. And so I call her for advice. Everybody who had nurse friends, tell me you haven't called them for advice. So I called her, and I told her what had happened. And she said, hospital now. And I said, yes, ma'am. And we got in the car. Well, we were already kind of getting in the car because we knew it was time to go get him checked out. We are not medical professionals. So off to Sacred Heart Children's Hospital we go. And we get there as early afternoon or maybe mid-afternoon. And it's typical ER visit. So you go in, and you sign in, and you wait. If you're not losing a limb, you don't always, we're having a heart attack, you don't always get rushed back. So they just thought, OK, this kid probably has a concussion, same as us. And so we sat and waited until it was our turn. And when the nurse came in to take him back to just get his vitals, I go back with her. And we're talking. And she starts feeling around on the back of his head. And I had done that. I thought I felt a goose egg. And that's usually a good sign if it's swelling out.

So I thought I felt that. And then she finds a part in his skull in the back of his head. And she puts my hand there. And she said, do you feel that? And I said, yeah. She said, it's indented. That's bad. And immediately, the atmosphere changed. And it was kind of panic mode. And so she calls to the back. And it was, do not pass go. Do not collect $200. You're going straight to the back. And so that's when we started getting very scared. Yeah, so we were in the room, of course, for a long time. It seems like things crawl when you're, especially if you're waiting for good news. Or, of course, Tim and Steph were there with us already, again, for the timeline. For those that didn't do the math on this, this is 14 years ago. So all their kids were young kids at the time. And I tell people all the time that forever and eternity, I owe Jimmy Witton a steak dinner, whenever he wants one. Jim Witton, for those of you who know him, he spent the entire afternoon in the car with the pain kids. Do the math. Gavin was two years old at the time. And he was very two years old. That's a lot.

Yeah. I love that man at a high level. But he was trying to free Tim and Steph to minister to us. And it's like I've told Papa Cliff before. When I have a friend who came here and got saved in a gathering because of what Papa Cliff can do with a baby, he's part of that story. And Jimmy is part of this story for us. So that's doing ministry, right? In all your roles. So anyway, we're in the room. We're waiting. The texts start. We had people all over the country and all over the world letting us know they were praying for Cole. We had people come and visit us. Robert and Pam Kimball. So spoiler alert, you'll get to hear in the next week or two why it was so near and dear to their heart at the time. But they came up to see us at the hospital and prayed with us. But Cole, at the time, he was staying awake longer. He was getting, I felt like, a little more alert. And I really felt like, hey, we're going to get out of here soon. Things were looking up until they weren't. Doctor came in the room and said, hey, I need mom and dad. Took us to another room and starts popping these scans up that they had taken of Cole's head. showing me where his skull was crushed and where the brain was bleeding and how that

bleeding was intensifying and they told us that they had already ordered a life flight to Shands. It was his only chance of survival, wrong on that by the way, but in their mind his only chance of survival was to get him to Shands as quick as they could and the first concern was whether or not he could survive the flight and the second one was whether he would make it through the night. They also went ahead and told us at that time that if he made it through the night that we were going to need to figure out how to move our family to Gainesville because we would be there for months at best. If he survived the night he was going to need a lot, a lot of rehab, learn to walk and talk again and stuff based on the amount of damage to his brain. It's tough stuff to hear. As a parent, I was holding it together pretty well at the start, you're in business mode until I called one of my best friends who I just walked through a brain tumor with him, spent a long time at MD Anderson with him and when he answered the phone all I could say is, my son, it's crushed me. We had to make the hard decision of who was going on the life flight. They didn't want K-Star on the plane. Part of that being in case it didn't go our way, didn't think mama could hold it together and in the back of my head I'm thinking, you ain't seen nothing. That is not something you want to deal with on this plane so K-Star graciously stepped aside and she heads to the house to pack a bag and her and her dad are going to start driving for Gainesville. I am waiting at the hospital for the team from Gainesville. Tim and Steph of course are still with us. Cut to the chase, at this point he's not maintaining consciousness which is probably a good thing in that he didn't have to have all these memories that we have of this part but as the team finally gets there from Shands, the paramedics come in, how it works is they take legal possession of him from Sacred Heart so they load him up and as we're about to walk up Tim says, of course we've been praying, there's a lot of prayers happening already, he said let

me lay hands on your son. It matters, it matters and Tim and Steph and I laid hands on my son and they weren't fancy prayers, we begged God for a miracle and then as I turned to walk away I looked back at Tim and I said hey man I'll see you for Christmas Eve service. This is December 23rd so that made no sense but I looked right at him and I said I'll see you for Christmas Eve service and off we go. Now I'm alone with Cole for the next six or seven hours so we, the flight, you know sitting there looking at him and just begging God not to take my son. We get to Shands, they take him back and they do more scans on his head and everything and now we're in a room again and that night I mentioned this is December 23rd so this is Christmas time, again it's not Easter but it's never been more real and more clear to me that God sent his son to this earth. We celebrated at Christmas but he came here with a purpose. That purpose was to die for you and I and when you're in a room like that not knowing if your son is going to make it through the night, there's a lot of people in this room I love very, very much and there's not a one of you I would sacrifice my son for. If it comes down to it, you let Jesus know I'll be there soon because you're going first. You know, myself included, I begged God to let me take his place. Just not doing it. So then I'll take that and remember that the all-powerful God of the universe who simply by thinking it could have intervened on behalf of his son and he stood by and watched while he carried a cross, while they tore the flesh from his body for you and for me. When you're in a hospital room begging God to save your son, it's never more clear and the fact that it's two days ahead of Christmas, it's just a real thing. So next thing we know, it's still just me again, one of the hardest parts in all this is that my bride couldn't be there with me. She's still on her way down. I'm in the room with Cole. He's sleeping and a doctor comes in again. He says, are you dad?

I said, yes, sir. He's like, I need to see you. So he pulls me out, takes me to another room, he's putting up the scans that came from Pensacola and he's... Going through him again from a neurosurgeon's perspective, telling me all the bad news about what had happened to my son. Part of me felt like it was a build up to bad news. He's talking about the damage to his skull, the damage to his brain, the density of the bleeding, and all these things. And I'm just waiting, waiting. He pulls all the scans down, puts new scans up, and he's like, listen, the reason I show you all that is I needed you to understand why we life-flighted your son here. And then he starts going through the new scans, where my son's skull is no longer fractured. And the bleeding in his brain was gone. I got to call my wife and tell her, God healed our son. It's going to be OK. She's trying to make it there in time, not knowing if, again, the last we were told is, hey, we got to try and make it through the night with him still with us. And I'm calling her four hours later, telling her, God is good. Let me tell you, it is so humbling to think that in everything going on in this big Earth, with all these people and all these things,

that literally the God of the universe heard your prayer, saw you, and said, no devil, not today. Because God said, that's my son, too. I mean, it was just an incredible, incredible miracle. K-Star finally gets there, and I'll let you tell a little bit of that. But the embrace when she walks in the room, when the last time we saw each other, everything was up in the air. And now we've got our miracle story. And again, this doctor is like, I don't know what to tell you. And I'm like, I know what to tell you, bro. I got a big God. So my dad and I drove to Gainesville almost in silence. He's like, are you OK? Do you want something to eat? And I'm just like, no, just get me. Just get me there. And good news, I grew up with a race car driver as a dad. So we got there relatively quickly. And we rolled in probably about 6 AM and walked up to the room and just were so thankful and so happy. And my dad's a believer. He raised me in church, my mom and dad. And so we got to celebrate that together. And I'm so thankful for that. And Santa came in to visit Cole and brought him a little toy. And so we're just chilling. We're like, this is good.

This is all good. But at this point, if you're flown to another hospital, even if we're not staying for months, you would think you're going to stay for a little while. Let's make sure this is really resolved. And so we're chilling. And Doug had called a friend from Orlando that he was super close to. And him and his wife jumped in the car. They were headed to the hospital. And Doug got to call him back and say, hey, you don't need to come. And he's like, we're almost there. And so we made plans for lunch with, well, we didn't know yet. So let me reverse. So we're sitting there. And a nurse walks in the room. And she looks around. And she's like, are you guys not packing up? And we were like, what? What do you mean, packing up? And she said, you're getting just discharged. And we were like, that is crazy. It was just crazy. In less than 24 hours, we were getting to leave that hospital. So he called a friend and said, hey, let's meet for lunch. And then started calculating the hours it would take to get back to Gulf Breeze. Yeah, you remember that part I said at the start where I looked at Tim and said, I'll see you

for Christmas Eve service? Come on. This way. This way. This way. Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! We walked in that service as a family with my son, Cole, stand up. That's a miracle right there. Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo!

But walk in that service and hug my pastor. Hug my pastors. You know, God heals. I talked about a little bit in the last gathering, you know, listening to Johnny last week. Did an incredible job telling his story. I also knew I was doing this already. And I'm listening to Johnny going, well, they're getting something different next week. I don't have that kind of composure. That's my son. I knew how this would go, but I texted Tim and Steph when we knew Johnny was out of the woods. I know God heals, but James 5 16 says the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. And I texted Tim and Steph to say, hey I've seen it, I've lived it, God heals, but I don't believe this happens without you and your bride going to the throne the way you do. And I know that my God healed my son. I also know I have my pastor's back forever in eternity. I love him at the highest level. We've been friends for 30 years, but I will never forget that night. I'll never forget you laying hands on my son and Stephanie. You know, if you've never been there when they're going after it, it'll give you chill bumps. It's an incredible thing and I think that's what gave me the faith to turn back around and look at you and say, hey I'll see you at that point tomorrow night. Let's go. But God wasn't done with the story, you know. The devil looked for points to attack. When you're at a high, we've just had this miracle, the devil looked to come and attack you. But just remember that if it ain't good yet, what do we say here? God's not done yet. You want to talk a little bit about this? So what we didn't tell you in the beginning was when we were checking into Sacred Heart, you know how somebody always comes to your room to figure out how you're gonna pay the bill. And that person came in and it was brought to our attention that we did not have insurance that month for our children because mama had forgotten to pay that bill. And it was

just an oversight. It wasn't, you know, it wasn't an expensive bill. It wasn't for any reason except that I missed it. And at that moment, we were just, I personally took that on myself as, you know, a place where the enemy could work. And he, and it was, I was like, okay, well that's just great. So now we have an ER bill in Pensacola. We have a medical flight bill that is coming our way. We have a Gainesville Hospital visit that's coming our way. And that was just something that really could have taken us down and it really could have divided us, you know, finances. I mean, it's one of the biggest ways I feel like the enemy uses in marriages. And we were, you know, after this was said and done and we had the Christmas Eve gathering, his parents were still in town, so we're with them. They always give the kids some money and so they were doing some little after Christmas sale shopping and we're in Destin, the outlets, and I just kind of broke. And I told Doug, I said, I feel like I sabotaged our family by missing that. And that was just a moment of shame and guilt and, you know, and he said to me, look at our son. He said, we can be grateful that, you know, he's like, we're grateful that God healed our son and we'll let God handle the rest. And we did not let it divide us and I'm so thankful for Doug's leadership in that. He led that so well and just loved me through that. And so we started praying. We started praying over the bills and you guys were part of that. Yeah, Tim Kemp hitting me up. They knew the situation as well. Hey man, you know, get those bills together and let's meet and pray over them. We're having, K-Stars lived in this world of medical billing and health insurance for a lot of years. She's having trouble getting the bills and the answers and Tim hits me up one day and it's just like, hey, can we meet for lunch and pray over these bills? Like man, I still don't have them. And he's like, God knows. He knows the number. Let's meet and pray. So I went and had lunch with Tim and with Frankie and we prayed and we went after it again. Like God, hey, we need another miracle here. We were, what we knew is we were well into the six figures on our billing from this accident. And we prayed and I was probably, what, less than a week later, three or four days later, you know, K-Stars still diligently working on this

and just like I got to call her and tell her that our son was gonna be okay, she got to call me and say, hey, I finally got hold of somebody. They found the bill. They had, the first one they found was a smaller bill, like they said it was like 357, which she thought was thousand. It was literally just a $357 bill and then they finally found ours. Yeah, and so she was like, oh, are you talking about this three hundred and some odd dollar bill? And I was like, no. I'm like, no, it is much, much bigger than that. So you can hear a little keyboard going and she goes, oh, oh this one, that one's paid. She goes, oh yeah, I see it. That's paid in full. You know, for me, I'll never forget the wording of that either. It meant the world when she called me and told me because it didn't say that we, you know, decided to write it off or any sort of charity. It said paid in full, just like our sin debt, paid in full. There was nothing we could do about it, and you know, to this day, to this day, I promise you, I have no idea how that happened. I don't know if it's somebody through our church. I don't know if it was someone through my family or my dad, or if God put it on someone's heart who I've never met and never will meet this side of eternity to do that for us. But our bill was paid in full, and yeah, if God's not good, if it's not good yet, God's not done yet. We lived it. We truly, truly lived it, you know. We got to double up on our miracles, and it was just, you know, just so grateful to see God move on your behalf, you know, and like I said, humbling to think that the God of the universe said, I'm going to heal your son, watch this, and then go, I didn't forget you. You got a bill? I want to touch there too, and heal that, and you know, I think, you know, I've always felt like in that moment, and anyone who knows me knows I'm far from a perfect husband, but I think that's God honoring, you know, in that moment, Him shutting my mouth and letting me treat my wife with grace even though she felt like it was her fault that we're

in this situation of just saying, hey, you know, the only way to turn what God's miracle He did for our son into a loss is if we let this stupid bill divide us and drive a wedge in our marriage. And I'm like, I don't care if we pay on it until they put dirt on me, like, I'll pay a hundred bucks a month forever, I don't care. But God had a different plan. He had a miracle for us that said, you know, I've got you in this too, and just so humbling, I encourage you, you know, go after the throne. Again, they don't have to be pretty eloquent prayers. I was not praying when I was in that room all night alone with my son. By alone, I mean K-Star wasn't there yet because we weren't alone. But I wasn't praying, God, let your will be done through this situation. I was saying, God, don't take my son. Please, God, don't take my son. Do anything. Don't take my son. And God heard us. He heard those prayers. A couple of things that I learned from this story, and one is faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God. So you know, this is a different type of message, but you heard God's Word today, my goodness. And our heart as a church is that your faith would grow. Peter said, grow in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. And so when we hear other people's stories, it increases our faith. It also reminds us, wait a second, I have a story too. I want to talk to you about healing real quick, because last gathering and this gathering and more than likely next gathering, there have been families that lost a son. And I don't understand healing. I know who the healer is. And I've watched people pray and people pray through, and I've watched God say, I'm going

to take them home. I'm going to heal them, but I'm going to heal them home. And you know, here on earth, we see death as like the end, but death is a door to everything more if you're a Christian and only if you're a Christian. If you're not, death is where you realize that earth was heaven, and now you're looking at something far worse. And so what I also know though, is Jesus is the healer. And so sometimes we pray and it doesn't go our way, but that shouldn't keep us from sharing stories like this. Are you with me? And so I want you to hear this, because you know what? You're going to need a miracle, and you don't get a miracle unless you need a miracle. And when I... read the Bible, faith moved God. It moved God. You just, you know, you can't get away from it. I mean, Jesus is, is amazed that one man who has power, his financial power, his political power, I mean, he's, he's a very powerful man, but his faith caught Jesus' attention. And, and a couple of things that I want to say here, Doug, is the moment, and you got to understand this is Christmas. Their kids are young too. They're staying at the beach, Christmas tree, right? Santa Claus coming to town. Like, let's go. This is the best time of the year until it's not. And now all of a sudden Cole's being willed out and we pray and see when, when we pray, it's easy to pray and really not believe. It's kind of like, sometimes we just go through the motion. Like, I think I'm supposed to do this, but I love one verse where it's like,

when he, in the actual translation where it says he prayed, it means he, he, he prayed while he was praying. And that's when you cry out to Jesus. How many ever been there before? Will you cry out? It's an ugly cry. You're not worried about you. You are just crying out to God. And that's what we did. And I remember that night, I remember staying up that night on my knees, weeping and begging God, but I believe, and there are people all over praying, but I believe the moment, whether the doctor saw it later or not, I believe the moment he was healed was when you said, we'll see you tomorrow, Christmas Eve. That, that I said, stupid last gathering. I'm going to say it again. That sounded stupid in the moment. Cause nothing about that, that just, you get what I'm saying? Like, no, no, you're getting ready to fly. No, no. It sounded crazy, stupid, but let me tell you something. It wasn't stupid. It was crazy and it was crazy faith. It was beautiful is what it was. It was holy and it was prophetic. And the Bible says that, that the power of death and life is in our tongue. It is in our tongue. And so when you spoke that dog for your family as the head of your family, I think God said, not today, devil, not today. And I think that crazy faith is, it inspires me, man, to be right there. There's something about praying through where we don't just pray, but we

continue to pray and we press in. I mean, think March Madness, right? Do you see the game, right? When team's down 11 points and then all of a sudden they end up winning the game. It shouldn't happen like less than two minutes, but they didn't stop. They didn't stop believing. And that's, that's what you guys did. And I'm so thankful for y'all. I'm thankful for this story. I'm thankful for Cole. And I'm thankful that God has such a plan for your life, Cole. And when God healed you that fast, we were like, cut, cut something for him. I mean, Jeremiah 29, 11 for, I know the plans. This is what God says to Cole. And this is what God says to you. For, I know the plans that I have for you plans to prosper you plans to give you the future that you hoped for. He's a good God. He's a good God. And, you know, maybe you're sitting here today and your story didn't go this way. You cried, you prayed through you beg God. God is, is God less than good? He's not. And there are things on this earth that we don't have answers for, but I'm telling you that when you need a miracle, the greatest thing you can do is you can pray. And we declared a fast and it was a quick fast, which is always easier than a long fast, but we're like, forget food. We've got to beg God now, Dave. Yes, God. I hear you.

Holy spirit. Now, David is at one of these moments. God, he's begging God to heal his son. You remember David and Bathsheba and he's sleeping with her and she's married to someone else and he makes sure that guy gets murdered so he can have his wife, not just once, but whenever he wants and she gets pregnant and the baby is dying and David. is crying and David is like, me, let me pay for it, God. And someone, someone gets the memo that it's your job to go tell King David that the baby died. How'd you like to have that position? And he knocks on the door and King David, most powerful man in the world, opens the door and the messenger says, King, live forever, your baby has died. He'd been in there fasting, he'd been in there crying, and now all of a sudden he wipes the tears, he washes his face, and he's ready to eat. And everyone's like, that's just, that's so crazy, like, what's, I don't understand that. He's coming to eat, did the guy give him the news? And David has this moment, and David says, I cannot bring the baby back, but where the baby is, I can go and I will see him again. That's the hope that we have in Jesus. And if you're here today and you've never received that hope, you've never received that assurance that when you die, you know where you're going. We knew where Cole was going, but we were begging God,

God, keep him here. And today the goal is, I pray that today your faith grows. I pray that today that we all learn and we all lean in more to God in prayer because whatever God can do, prayer can do. But if you're here today and you're not a Christian, you're watching, you're at Blackwater, you're watching online, you're watching in America, you're watching around the world, wherever you are, if you're not a Christian today, the love of God that Doug so incredibly talked about, he gave us Jesus and he who never sinned became our sin so you and I could be made right with God. No wonder they call him the Savior and you need that kind of Savior and we need that kind of love. So I'm gonna ask you to bow your heads and close your eyes and I'm gonna ask you, you know, I just sense the Holy Spirit in this gathering saying that there are people here and you're believing God for healing, for you, for a loved one. If that's you, would you raise your hand? Keep believing, keep asking, keep praying, keep declaring the word of God over your life. Let God's word, let God's promises define you and speak in faith. You can put your hands down. In just a minute, we're gonna have an opportunity and I'm gonna invite you to come and pray

and maybe it's not even for you, maybe you have a friend that needs healing. We got a God that wants us to come to him, invites us to come to him. I think in just a few moments, I think this altar should be packed in prayer but if you're here and you're not a Christian, prayer, will you call on the name of the Lord and you say, Jesus, I'm a sinner and I need you to forgive me of my sins. Save me. The Bible promises whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. The greatest verses in all of scripture and I just believe a crowd this size, hands are gonna go up. I believe a crowd the size of Blackwater tonight as you men watch it. I believe hands are gonna go up. I believe on our online, the Pando app, I believe people are coming to Christ because we overcome the enemy by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony. If you wanna become a Christian, would you pray right now to God, not to me, not through me but just to God. I'm gonna lead you in a prayer. Just repeat after me, would you say, Jesus, I'm a sinner and I desperately need you to wash away my sins.

You are Savior and you are Lord. I'm asking you to be my Savior, to be my Lord. Thank you for loving me, bleeding for me, dying for me. Thank you for rising again. And today, I give you my life, I receive your life. Now teach me how to live. In Jesus' name, amen, amen.
