Weekly Word EP. 2
to week two of our weekly word series where we look at a passage, we'll go through, we'll break it down again. And we know that it's really important to start your week off right. So let's start it in the word of God. And this week, we will be looking at John chapter 14. And we're gonna be going through verses one through four. So go ahead, turn there. Let's read together, starting John chapter 14 verse one. And this is in the ESV version. Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. And my father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, what I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and I will take you to myself that where I am, you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going. Now, John chapter 14 is possibly my favorite chapter in the whole gospel of John. So I'd really encourage you to go and read the rest of it when you can. It has this great intro of let not your hearts be troubled. You know, believe in me, believe in God. And it's a intro that Jesus gives because he had just told his disciples in chapter 13 that he was going to be betrayed by one of them. And then after that betrayal,
he was going to leave the disciples. And so of course they hear all this and they're going to start freaking out, they're worried. And Jesus telling them like, no, no, it's okay. But just believe in me, don't be troubled because there is a greater plan that's going on. And that still applies for me and you today where we get so troubled and worried by the things that are around us. But we should place our belief in God, our belief in Jesus, knowing that there is something greater that he has planned for us. And to continue reading, we start looking at verses two through four, it can kind of be a little confusing the first time you go through it because Jesus is telling the disciples that he's going to go, he's going to prepare a place in his father's house where there's many rooms and it doesn't make a lot of sense. But once you start looking at it in the context of the rest of the story, we start to see a little bit better where Jesus is telling that he's going to repair a place in heaven for all of those who believe in him, that he's going to go, prepare something that one day he'll come back and all of those who have placed their faith, all of those who have placed their belief in Jesus, he's going to gather them and all go heaven together. And he left them with this phrase in verse four. And you know the way to where I'm going. If you keep reading the next couple of verses, Thomas questions this, he's like, Jesus, like,
what do you mean? I don't know. Like, how are we supposed to get there? And that's when we see that Jesus declares that he is the way, the truth and the life that no one gets the father except through him. And that is something that I really want to leave you guys with today to know that Jesus, he died, he rose again, and he went to heaven to prepare something for us, for anyone who believes, anyone in the past, anyone in the future, placing their faith, their belief in Jesus, that he has prepared a place specifically for you. And that is the good news of the gospel that if you have placed your faith in Jesus, that there is a place that it's going to be in heaven for you, don't let your heart be troubled like it's said in verse one, 'cause there's a greater plan ahead. All right, so thank you so much for joining me today. Before we leave, let's pray. Dear Lord, I thank you for this time together. I thank you where we are able to just spend a minute getting into the Word and learning more from it. I pray that it is meaningful and impactful to all who hear it and we will place our faith in you and not be troubled by the world around us. And in Jesus' name I pray, amen. Thank you guys for joining me today.
I'll see you in the next one.
