Day 36: What God calls you is more true than any other name. | The Walk Out

Your record calls you something. Your history calls you something. The system has a file that names you. People in your life have names for you.

God has a different name for you. It’s the only one that’s actually true.

TODAY’S TRUTH What God calls you is more true than what anything or anyone else calls you.

THE READ “You will be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will bestow.” — Isaiah 62:2

The whole verse is a promise: God’s going to give you a new name. Not the one your file has. Not the one your past has. A new one.

THE REAL Your file has a name for you. Maybe a number. Maybe a charge. Maybe a sentence. The system needs a name for you so it can process you.

Your history has a name for you too. The thing you did when you were 19. The relationship you blew up. The addiction. The years you went missing. The letter you should have sent and didn’t.

Other people have names for you. Some kind. Most not.

None of those are your real name.

In Scripture, when God renames somebody, it’s a big deal. Abram becomes Abraham. Sarai becomes Sarah. Jacob becomes Israel. Simon becomes Peter. Saul becomes Paul. The new name reflects who they’re becoming, not who they used to be.

He does the same thing for you. The Bible has names for the people who follow Jesus that you might never have heard applied to yourself: chosen, beloved, royal priesthood, holy, redeemed, friend of God, child of God, more than a conqueror.

You probably don’t believe any of those apply to you. That’s exactly why we’re spending 30 days on this.

What God calls you is not negotiated by your history. It’s not affected by your file. It’s not subject to other people’s opinions. It is what He says it is.
