You You You All right, you forgot this It is Friday Noontime the 22nd. It's Abraham's birthday. Oh, yeah. It's Abraham's. Yeah. Happy birthday, Abraham Yeah, happy birthday. He is in the woodlands at grace the grace headquarters in tech in Houston right now We called him at 12 midnight Houston time and he was asleep already. He's an old man already 24 all years old. So he's been over there training with the media with the worship team and he at first He's like, well, don't buy my ticket back because he was gonna go for a month He's like, maybe I'll come back earlier. Maybe and he's like I can't ask him the other day I'm like, so when you're coming back, he's no I'm gonna stay the whole month. Yeah, he's all I'm gonna say a few days after and I'm yeah, so okay, so he's coming back in June 2nd and We'll be picking him up in the airport. And yeah, it's gonna be good, you know Hopefully he learned a lot picked up a lot, you know, and I think it's gonna be good, you know, right? There were graces. Oh you guys know if you guys went back to the time we stayed with angel and Diana Mm-hmm. They have that living quarters there. Yeah, the Life Center and the Life Center. So Yeah, that's where he's staying at so I know he's in good hands he's right on the grounds of the church and then there's a couple other young men one is They're learning to be a worship leader. Another one is learning to be a pastor. He's a youth pastor now So he's been hanging out with them and a few other people. Yeah, some of the leadership. He's going to the leadership meetings. He's Involved at the Forge he's serving he's been working with media engineers He's actually learning how to play keys too, yeah. Yeah, he's learning how to play the keyboard So yeah, he's been doing a lot of things. I can't see nothing. I forgot my glasses, but it's okay All right, Lord is with me. So we got all things. Yeah, we got a healthy little stack here guys So we're gonna go ahead and get right into it. Yes, let's do it. And Number one is this is from Deshaun you are in Georgetown, Delaware. I think that's what the postage says and it's a Mother's Day card
Yes, thank you so much. Thank you. All right Let's see what I am a mama Mystic from Denver, Colorado. Thank you so much for that blessing. May the Lord multiply in Jesus name I don't know how to say this food. Oh, I don't have to say her last name now So I don't have to try but it's Juanita Gatesville, Texas and has some questions. So let's get into these Questions All right So did pastor David get to buy the cowboy hat? He tried on at Bucky's. No, I didn't but man that hat was nice It was really nice. I liked it Yeah but the thing was I had took a hat already to Texas and I didn't want to have to have two hats on the airplane coming back. I'm just like man, but I Almost regret not buying it. I know you get on the next one I could probably find it here at Boot Barn. You should show it to Abraham and have Abraham go get it for you He don't have a car. It's an hour away. Oh, man Question number two, how much was the Bucky's costume? They're selling. You know what? I didn't even check the price Close to I think close to $40 really like 30 something dollars. Oh, yeah. I didn't I didn't even look yeah, and how much did the church group pay for the Airbnb house y'all stayed for three days. We stayed for more days than that. We were there That's Sunday all the way until Friday morning actually and was it expensive? Yes, but everybody pitched in it was like over two grand actually for that I wanted to know because I don't know how much our price is in the free world anymore I've been locked up for 23 years. So I'll say this it's impossible for us to to get that house. But because there was nine bedrooms, everybody pitched in. And I think everybody paid close to $150 a piece. And then we had saved up about $1,000. Yeah, throughout that year. Throughout that whole year. So we were able to put a deposit a year before,
and then slowly, slowly saved and saved. And yeah, so that was cool. Good questions, though. This is Mark in Rayford, Florida. He has a question also. Has 12 months left. So to me, 12 months, you're short timing, depending on how much time you did. OK, let's see. Can I break down these verses? Acts chapter 316, in his name, through faith in his name has made this man strong. Will you see? And yes, the faith which comes through him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all. Not sure how you want me to break this down, because you didn't have a question with it. Because that one verse seems like a part of a huge passage that, if you take this verse alone, there's no context to it, unless it seems like you read the whole thing. So I'm not sure, I'll be honest, how you want me to answer that. Acts chapter 326, to you first, God, being raised up his servant Jesus, send him to bless you in turning away every one of you from your iniquities. Yeah, I think, in my opinion, you can't really break that verse down without breaking the entire chapter down.
Do you know what I mean? It's like it's taking one part of a story and saying, can you break this part of the story down? Can't really do it. It's a Bible study. Yeah, it's a Bible study. I'm sorry, man. Willie, in Fresno, California, very encouraging letter. He wants a Fresno road trip. We go through it, buy it, leave it. We never really stop. Yeah, don't really stop, actually. It's been years since I've driven through. Well, I drive through Fresno, but it's been years since I've driven in Fresno. Yeah. Maybe we will stop one of these days and just, you know. They have a nice zoo there. Yeah. It's right off the freeway. Let's do it. Deodar in Orange, California, yeah, he had sent a Mother's Day card. Thank you. Also, oh, he started watching the road trips. Nice. And he wants a shout out to his wife and to his children. Thank you, man. Thank you. God bless you.
Greetings to your wife and to the children. Here's a Mother's Day card, a Spanish one, from Olivia. Olivia, gracias. Muchas gracias. It was nice to hear from you, Olivia. Fue un placer oir de ti, hermana. Miles R. from Tennessee Colony, Texas. Feliz Dia de las Madres, Olivia. And a whole bunch of prayer requests. Nice. Look at that. Guys, let me tell you. Tell them. I got an amazing thing in here. I actually got a new prayer request team. I was just training them yesterday. I was really, really excited. So yeah, I had three, four people actually with me yesterday. So that was exciting. That's all I wanted to share. No, that was cool. All right. Mystique, or Mystic. I always say it wrong, man, from Denver, Colorado. Thank you. Thank you so much for that. Thank you. God bless you. May the Lord multiply that.
Jose in Tampa, Florida. And yeah, I wonder if you're locked up with the brother that's here now, Brother Juan. Because he was just talking to me yesterday that he was in Tampa. I'm not sure if he was locked up in Tampa or he's from Tampa. But he did 15 years. But this brother has eight years left and says he will head this way. Nice. And he says that, remember, I don't know if you remember, because we read these a while back. And he says he loves when you sing. Oh, thank you. That's the Lord's voice. Amen. Derek out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It took me a long time to know how to say Sioux Falls. Yeah. I know, me too, because I was like, how do you say S? It's like all these letters. How do you say that? But yeah, Sharon, thanks you for the bookmarks. And yeah. Yes, there is natives here, Native Americans. Or Pastorell is actually Apache. I don't know if he's 100% Apache. I don't think so. Or is he? Yeah.
Or just on one side of his family. No, Pastorell has Native American in him as well. Plead though on both sides of the family. Really? I believe so. Yes, he always talks about it. I didn't know that. Yeah, and Brother as well. Oh, really? Yeah. Okay. Yeah Bobby You know who you are in Madison, Florida, you know, you know, happy Mother's Day Thank you so much brother All right. I appreciate yeah, we have Ray in I own California, you know who you are. We like to call you number two But man, I'm so glad we made you laugh when you were talking Sharon can't pronounce her tease. Yes, I can So I don't House arrest That's not how you say house arrest normally Yes, I do No, you don't Stop stop see I say stop. Okay it stop it You know what though I was watching his YouTube video that Tell him I didn't know this but it says Californians because here in California we say we don't have an accent Like people in the South have an accent people in New York have an accent people in Texas have a Texas draw And we believe we don't have an accent But I was watching a video on YouTube where this guy was saying about a California accent. I'm like, let me watch this and I Realize we do we don't say our letter T For instance, I'm not the only one no, it's a California thing see So like for instance, don't make fun of me Huntington Park, it's Huntington Park But we say Huntington Park It's Santa Rosa
Yes, we say Santa Rosa Santa Rosa. We say instead of Santa Rosa. We say s a n n a Santa Rosa Santa Rosa, so I didn't realize that that in California. We don't say the letter T Santa Clarita You know, so I'm trying to think Monterey we don't say Monterey Monterey Monterey He says that I I make everything Spanish, yeah, so I guess California and I'm not talking about. Yeah, of course. We have our own slang. Every state has their own slang I'm not talking about slang. I'm talking about accent pronunciation and we are lazy with our T's You know and I was like man, that's true anyways It was a good video Charles from Tampa, Florida another Tampa nice, man. You guys quit doing crimes in Tampa He said he wrote Scott no answer I'm guessing that you probably got an answer after this because he said he answered everybody so still let us know if you did or not because we want to make sure that you did because that you You might have just crossed Yep. Yep. Yep. See senor. Okay, Miguel angel and Port Angeles Washington, do we get a letters from there? We get Washington, yeah, yeah, but from there from I don't know port angel, I don't remember recalling that but Let's see. I water doesn't want to come out. Oh Yeah, he wrote this huge passage on Ephesians, thank you brother, thank you so much God bless you, and hopefully we keep hearing from you Neil in Gatesville, Texas, you know who you are Let's see, yeah, I I don't read the Quran I Read the Word of God. I am I'm not an apologist I don't feel a need to read the Quran or the Book of Mormon or any of those things Have I read a little bit about about them Yeah, I have more not know so much about them, but more about their religion whether it's Jehovah Witness Mormons
Islam Hinduism things like that, but I don't read their books. I honestly don't but I like what you were saying about Jude about where it says that Moses and They were the angel was fighting against Moses for Moses body, I'm sorry against Satan and stuff and I like what you said, it makes sense, you know, it's a good point But he was saying about the ESV because he says it's missing verses because you know, I have an issue With some of the Bible translations because they're missing verses. Yeah, and In my early walk I took that very offensively because I grew up with the King James Bible when I got saved. Other than I had a Good News Bible, because that's all that was available to me my first few months, but the moment my family got me a Bible, it was a King James, not a new King James. And what I noticed is like the NIV would miss scriptures. They literally left scriptures out, and that bothered me. And so I, in my head, in my cell, I demonized every single Bible translation except the King James. What was the first first Bible you ever read? The Good News Bible. That's all that was. When you were little? Oh no, King James. That was the first first Bible? Yeah, my mom gave it to me. It's a King James. I think the first first Bible I ever read was back, back when I was little, little, probably the Catholic Bible when I was little, little, because my mom took us to catechism. Did it have a lot of pictures in it? A lot of pictures. A lot. But as an adult, I think the first Bible I ever read was a NIV, is the one my little sister gave me. Yeah, it was the first Bible. So brother, I want to say this, is that in my 22 years now serving the Lord, I demonize anything outside of King James. I'll tell you what changed my mind, is, and don't get me wrong, there are some translations that I feel are,
probably shouldn't be read. But if that's all you have access to, I would say read it. You know, people that are locked up, people, and somebody slips you a Bible, this or that, unless it's a Book of Mormon or something, I'm going to say no, you know, but I'm saying a regular Bible. This is what changed my mind, is when I really started studying how we got our Bible. Like, how did we get our Bible? Obviously, the Bible wasn't written in English. So how did we get our Bible? Do they have the original transcripts? Do they have the original papyrus? You know, like, how do we get our Bible and the words in it? And I started really looking into it, and I realized that when the King James Bible was written, they had certain old scrolls, let's say, right? And that's how they translated the King James. We're talking about something that was translated 500 years ago, you know, and they translated it into English. That's why the therefore thous, and all that. And I'm like, okay, that's interesting. Okay, cool. Here's the part that opened my eyes, is that because what King James used was the oldest text in existence, but since then they have found more texts that are even older than what the King James translators used. And those older ones that were older than the King James what they used left certain verses out. So basically, they have found two main ones that were even older than the King James one, and those two leave a lot of the verses out. So tell me, if you were going to put a Bible together, and now you had access not only to the original, the old one that the King James used, but now you have these two older ones that even supersede those, and you want to give the church an accurate Bible, are you going to ignore those two that are even older than that one? No, you can't. You would do a disservice to the church. So as a scholar, what do you do, right? Because many times the two older ones omit certain scriptures that the King James one includes. So in actuality, if a NIV, they're not actually leaving the scripture out. If you go down to the bottom, it's there, but it just says this verse was only in the certain codex, not in the other two. So I don't see any other way to do that, because can you imagine if you're a historian, if you are a scholar, and you want to put together a Bible such as the ESV, you can't ignore the two older codexes than the newer one. So what the newer ones are really doing is they're just really simplifying everything. Yes. They're just really, really simplifying for the person to understand things a little bit better. Now, if a Bible translation comes out and literally leaves those verses out,
doesn't make a mention, doesn't put it in a footnote, that is wrong. Exactly. But they're not doing that. They're just simplifying. The ESV does not do that. This is why my favorite to this day is the New King James. But I study it and preach out of the ESV, because the ESV was basically saying, we're going to take word for word out of the three oldest manuscripts and put it together as straight up as we possibly can, because you're going to lose some in translation. Because even in Spanish and English, you lose translation. And so that's why I say the ESV is the closest to the original of the Greek, the Hebrew, and the Aramaic scriptures. And they're using the three old codexes, or the three old scrolls. And that's why I like the ESV. So hopefully that makes sense. And that's why I don't have an issue with a lot of the translations now. I really don't. Brother Derek in Newcastle, Indiana. And he's a chapel clerk. So that is awesome. And man, that's messed up about the write-up and all that. But praise God. I mean, it's good to hear from you, man. Ruben G out of Jamestown. And that's not far from here.
Remember Jamestown right here? Unfortunately, man, it was really hard to, let me see. Hold on. Yeah, it was really hard to read your writing. But thank you. Thank you for writing us. Charlie Frybread, nickname Yakima. Hello, he's a native brother. God bless you. And actually. I actually want to try the Frybread. Yeah, well, we are soon, in August. Yes, I want to try it. Yeah. Bobby. Another card. Thank you. And this is to all the mothers. For all the mothers. Amen. All of the mamas. OK. This man is out now. Nice. Bo Seafist from Tampa, Florida. He was actually released the day that we read that letter. Yeah, and then we got to call him and talk to him. Yeah, we got to talk to him. Yeah, really good brother. Matter of fact, I got to call him because I messaged him.
And then we had a great conversation with him. He goes, man, I really want to do that bike ride in Monterey in June. He goes, I don't think I'll make it. He goes, well, maybe next year. But man. Really nice conversation. Yeah. Yeah. OK, Joshua in Blanche, North Carolina. Thank you so much. Really sorry to hear about your mom and dad. He sent that. And God bless you. Thank you so much. Yeah, that was a blessing, brother. God bless you. May the Lord really multiply that in Jesus' name. Amen. Janique D. in Beaver, West Virginia. And this is to our adult leader, Isaiah. But I'm confused because Isaiah is not an adult leader. So I was confused. But either way, I think I know who you're talking about. I think, unless you got the name wrong and you had somebody else in mind, because Isaiah, he's not even in the young adult's ministry, is he? Or he is? No, right? Yeah.
Maybe a very, very long time ago, he was part of the adults two years ago. Yeah. Very, very long time ago. Janique, another one he wrote to Pastor Al. So we want to make sure we get that to him. Pablo in Abilene, Texas. Very well spoken. Appreciate your letter. We see your prayer requests for your daughter and the issue there. And appreciate the transparency and the legalism and finally reading the word of God yourself. And man, that is awesome. And just continue. Continue to write us. We want to continue to hear from you, brother. David L. Westville, Indiana. He sent us a photo. Very respectful. Thank you, man. Thank you. Hopefully, we get to hear more from you and more often. And a very thoughtful letter. And thank you. We appreciate it. God bless you, brother. Margarito in Huntsville, Texas. He's got a joke. I know.
You guys ran out of jokes? I know. I don't know. I don't know what's going on. I think they ran out of jokes. Wait, this is a blank sheet of paper. Is that the joke? What? What? Oh, I thought the joke was the blank piece of paper. Why are snails slow? Why? Why? Because they carry their house on their back. Come on, Margarito. You're killing me. How much did the shopkeeper sell his dead batteries for? How much? Nothing. They were free of charge. OK, that one's good. All right. That was a good one. Chadwick Keough. Tony, can't say your last name, but you are in Ely, Nevada. OK, please. Yeah, really sorry to hear about the halfway house thing and those issues. I'm praying in the name of Jesus that doors open for you. Thank you for sharing your journal entries.
Appreciate that. That means a lot when you share your heart like that. Vaughn in Fetzwilliam, New Hampshire. Where? Fetzwilliam. New where? New Hampshire. Pirate name, two toes, stinks a lot, puffy pants. Good hearing from you, man. Thank you. We see all the little notes you put in the back. You put your own notes in the back. I know, I like it. OK, Harvey, Mount Holly, New Jersey. I'll be honest with you, you confused me because you had said that you had tried getting a hold of me. And I'm like, wait, I never set up an email app at all. So I'm confused. I'm not sure if you're thinking of a different ministry. I never said I set up an email thing. And then because he was saying, Reno, you set this email thing up, and then you never answered me. I'm like, I've never set any email thing up. So I think you wrote the wrong ministry. I'm not sure. OK, Jeffrey in Indian Springs, Nevada. My name's Sharon Ranch. What? My last name Ranch. Our last name's Ranch.
Oh, yeah. Unless you're speaking life that we're going to own a ranch. Hallelujah, I receive it in the name of Jesus. But I do hope that you get a hold of us when you're released. And he's going to be in Las Vegas when he does release. I receive that, though. Mystic, Denver. Thank you so much for that. And let's see. Sowing seed, sowing seed. Chamzee, she's out. I know. But we keep, what do you call when you keep? Missing. There's a saying, when you miss. We're playing tag. Phone tag, that's what it is. But she wrote from Corona, California. She's out now. Amen. And I will say, Chamzee, this letter is my favorite of all the letters that you've written. This will help in the prison group. And I want to put that to the side. Remember, she had really good ideas. Yeah, that was awesome. OK, Ralphie in Tehachapi, California. And you have questions. Let's see. Let's see what these questions are.
Nice writing. Really nice writing. Says he's from Fresno. I don't have my glasses, but that writing looks really nice. Yeah. Wait, questions or jokes? Because they look like jokes. Well, that's your writing, and you put questions. I know, which is weird. Oh, yeah, I underlined it. Why does it, where, wait, wait, wait, wait, let's see. I'm working every day. Why does it say that we're not supposed to drink coffee? Never says anywhere we're not supposed to drink coffee. That's probably why you can't find it. My body hurts. We just finished doing groceries, getting ready for the grocery giveaway, guys. Our body is probably in pain right now. And I rode. He rode from the house all the way here, guys. 16 and 1 1 miles, and I met her here. Yes. I'm not riding back, though. I have my bike rack on the car. And then after, on top of that, he helped with the stuff for the grocery giveaway. There was a few of us here doing some work, and it was a lot of stuff. Yeah, so our bodies are feeling it.
This next question, does every Christian speak in tongues? No. Not every Christian speak in tongues? Or do you got to speak in tongues? No. I know a lot of people that are clearly anointed that don't speak in tongues. Paul says, I wish you all did. But even that insinuates they're not all did. So yeah, don't let people tell you if you don't speak in tongues, you're not saved. Don't let that happen. OK, here's jokes. What do you call a bear with no teeth? A gummy bear. What does a person with one leg work at? IHOP. What are you waving at? It's the straw net. Oh, OK. Thought you were just waving at a ghost. What does a person with one leg work at? I hop I like that one. What do you call a drive-by in China? God bless you. Thank you for writing us Fernando in Canyon City, Colorado Thank you Yeah, Kadron or Caden Caden right in Cameron, Missouri, I believe Where is Enoch in the Bible Enoch is not in a Bible it wasn't included in a Bible it was never part of the Bible Enoch is actually an old book that was written around the time between Malachi which is the end of the Old Testament and Matthew which is a New Testament somewhere in that 400 year gap is when the book of Enoch was written Did Enoch really write it? No Enoch of the Bible was way in Genesis The Bible says that he was close to God and God took him. He never died But unfortunately people think that the book of Enoch was written by that Enoch and it was not it was written though during that gap The the Jewish people did take that book as Something that they took serious, but it was never included in the Bible was never included in any of that But I would also want to say this there's Enoch one book two and book three When the New Testament quotes the book of Enoch two and three didn't exist. So why do people confuse it with that Enoch? Because it mentions Enoch because the book of Enoch talks about the beginning and Adam and Eve and
Satan and how these demons came and they taught war and they taught Witchcraft and so they assume because Enoch in Genesis was would probably know those stories He was close to closer to Adam and Eve, you know And and I think whoever wrote the book of Enoch probably titled it Enoch For that reason because they know people would say oh this must be written from yeah, but it wasn't it's an interesting read though I'll be honest with you. But your main question was where is it in a Bible and it's it's not in the Bible Okay, Joelle in Lancaster, California and we see your prayer request and Can God speak he had a question can God speak through the voice of a loved one? Yes, I believe so I believe Sometimes it's a prophetic word. Sometimes it's the Lord that wants to reach you and he will reach you through somebody you love Somebody you respect somebody you honor. I do believe that too, you know So even in dreams sometimes God will use somebody in your dream somebody you you will receive from To speak a truth discernment, you know, there's you know people Lord gives discernment to loved ones and and they'll you know Give them discernment and give them a word for you, you know Alonzo in Orlando, Florida He's probably released already but love the road trips and especially he said that part where we're flying through the clouds Remember, we rewatched it. Oh, yeah Beautiful. We love that part too. Yeah, absolutely Okay Ray number one And this all of that California, I love you brother. Yeah, so happy to be here in from you again. Don't do that again. Write us, regardless of what you're going through, regardless of what's happening. We want to hear from you, brother. We really want to hear from you. Yes, we love you. David in Decatur, Georgia, thank you so much. Let's see. Ronald, Maury, North Carolina. And yes, that is IAH. When we go to Houston, we don't go to the love lady or love. There's two airports. We always land in IAH because that's the closest one to the Woodlands. Because he's like, that looks like IAH when we're landing. Okay, got it. Willie in Maury, North Carolina. His favorite thing is the soldier because he's a veteran. Darth Vader behind me. The Aztec book. That's crazy that you could see
it. I was looking for it the other day, and I'm like, where is that? And it's all the way over here. That book is really good. It's a long read. That thing is like 800 pages. And questions, questions, questions, questions, questions. Why do I keep saying questions? I don't know. Oh, my God, I'm writing so little, but it's nice writing. Yeah. Yeah. This is a long answer questions, you know, brother. You know what? So I'll be honest with you. It's not so much that I'm not embarrassed to answer your question. But the fact is this is that because so many different people are hearing this people in different walks of life, people that have a wife, people that don't have a wife, people that are living in same sex relationship, people. And because of that, I'm not comfortable talking about this question, unfortunately, because of that, you know, because everybody's going to hear it differently. And so many different people. And this thing is very prevalent in people who incarcerated. You remember the question? Yeah. So and that's the thing, man, is because of that. I don't ever want to get taken out of context. I don't ever want to get taken out of somebody saying, oh, look, Pastor David said this. Pastor David said that. And it's pertaining to different things. You know, I mean, so. Oh, yeah, I remember. Yeah. And because of that, I'm hesitant, you know, because I don't want somebody to take my words to justify. Yeah. You know. So, Mark. In Tabor City, North Carolina. Thank you for the photo and the commissary list. He says Happy Mother's Day. Thank you. We really appreciate the photo. Same to your family. Amen. He said he wants to move here. You know, we're here. We're here. And thank you so much for your encouraging words, you know. Yeah. And Happy Mother's Day to all the moms that, you know, that are out there to your mothers, grandmothers, aunts and sisters and and to all you mamas that are that are, you know, behind the wall. I wish you all a Mother's Day as well. Yeah. Every single one of you. Yeah. Yes. And I would say by the time some of them get it on Edovo, Happy Father's Day. Yeah. Well, you know, because that's coming next month. Coming up. Yeah. In two weeks to three weeks. Actually, three weeks from now. I don't even know when it is. Yeah. It's in the third week of of June. Yeah. So happy Father's Day as well. So, guys, we are a few of you saying that you want to make your way here. We're in the middle of starting a group once a week for all of you who are coming from Pando and Edovo. We're still setting it up. And we are creating a first of all, a an interview because we want to know who you are. You know,
as you guys know, I mean. You know, we've got to be very careful of people. We don't know you. You know, you might know us, might feel like you know us, but it's not reciprocated. We don't know you. And we have families here. We have people here. We have loved ones here. But for those people that are willing to go through the process of being interviewed, we have a group that we're starting for Pando and Edovo. And it's once a week that we're meeting here and helping you. And because acclimating to the free world, it's not an easy thing. It's a lot of struggle. There's a lot of misconceptions. There's a lot of we have all these ideas when we're in and we want to get out and go full force. And then when we don't accomplish the things we thought we're going to accomplish right away, we kind of feel like we failed. and and so there's a lot of things that that we need to talk about for now it's for the brothers that are getting out but eventually you know we want something like that for the women that are getting sisters as well yeah absolutely okay uh david and decatur he uh just really happy for your brother my man thank you thank you yeah he's uh he's really taking on cycling he really loves cycling amen yeah he's become quite the cyclist uh i think that i think last week i shared a clip yeah yeah uh samuel in this is north carolina here so i think your the address you wrote was just a mailing because it says the postmark is north carolina but it's a card thank you thank you so much okay chadwick in ely nevada and um yeah pastor rick stayed with us because he was saying that he didn't see pastor rick did pastor rick go to the conference oh yeah pastor rick was actually with us in the airbnb house and i said he loves the road trip it was a mother's day card thank you so much thank you for that neil you know who you are gatesville texas um uh what hold on hold on wait a minute let me put some boom in it oh yeah this whole thing like yeah that's right it was like a whole sermon so thank you and he was talking about preach it brother chansey yes in corona she's already out now but it's always good to hear from her i can't wait to talk to her luis in coalinga california and and uh yeah it's a great name that you had shared about a discipleship amen oh nice brother jimmy and kennedy texas always always always always always always always always always you know we love you guys always always always always always good to hear from you um we do we love you amen so um yeah the grace international conference was great uh that song with all the different languages wow i know it was awesome richard and napa nudge new york um yeah yeah i
did i i i imagine my face turned red when sharon said that when i thought she said something else that she didn't say that was crazy i it's not even in my it's not even in my i know you know you know what's really weird to me i know you didn't say that but i knew people were gonna hear that i know but it's really weird whenever whenever somebody ever says um you know like when somebody ever ever tries to accuse me of something that is not even in my vocabulary not even in my bones or when somebody well no kidding like when or when somebody tries to say that something is in my character that is not even in my character or tries to say that i'm mean or tries to say that i'm a certain way and i'm like yeah that's not even like me like that's not me like when somebody says like well she's mean i'm like no that's not true may i be a little stern but i'm always stern with love yes that i believe i can be a very stern person but i'm very stern with love like i love people hard like i'm a hard loving person like that's me that i i can never be a cruel person that's not in me you know it's like i've never had that so it's really weird when people can say certain things or whatever and i'm like yeah that's that's not me i'm not a mean person so to clarify um i didn't think you said that but i knew people were gonna think you said that yeah that's why i got embarrassed and that's why i brought it up because i'm like okay if i don't say nothing they're gonna think you said that so that's what turned into the whole you not saying the letter t sunny but i'm sure by now they probably know that i don't talk like that yeah but i'm sure it still made him laugh yeah sunny from love lady texas um i could not read your letter at all i mean i'm not even gonna play i'm not even i'm not gonna lie um it was really hard to read the beautiful writing yeah that's the thing man the the nicer writing is so beautiful yeah it's even hard to read than the yeah it's hard oh my gosh it's so pretty brandon in modesto okay let's see Let's see here real quick, down to the last couple here. Yeah, you know, it's one thing to read the Bible. I don't know what it is, and I'm not saying this is you. I'm not saying this is you, but I've been incarcerated enough years to know that I'll come across people that for some reason, you wanna find these hidden secrets and hidden treasures instead of just reading the word for what it is.
What it is, yeah. You know, and I'm not saying that's you, because there's people out here that everything's a conspiracy theory. Every single thing, am I saying there's no conspiracies? Of course there is, of course there's secrets in government and all these, of course there is. You know, it'd be dumb for us to think, there's no way somebody could be in that high of power without having some secrets. But where every single thing, you know, and unfortunately there's people that read the Bible this way, is whoa, it said this and this verse, and you tie all these, and I just wanna say this, is be careful, because Satan would love to have you like a hamster on a wheel, doing a lot of movement, but getting nowhere. You know, the Bible is about Jesus. From Genesis to Revelation, it's about Jesus. And if anything wants to deviate you from that, or you start questioning the messiahship of Jesus, and it pulls you away from that, be very, very careful with that, because you're walking on dangerous ground. You are not going into this hidden secret that nobody else knows. It is just Satan, and he's trying to deviate you from the simple gospel that he was crucified, he was buried, and he resurrected.
That's it, you know, very simple. But unfortunately, out here and in prison, I have found people, I have talked to so many people in prison, that's why I know, like this one guy, he was like, you know it wasn't a real snake in the garden, right? And he, like, he, it's like having a sopa, and you're adding all kinds of stuff to it. All kinds of ingredients. Yes. You know, one time I remember I was driving with David, we were on our way here. Just be careful. And I remember we were just listening to some of the old school preachers and everything, and I remember just looking at David and I, and I was so overwhelmed with a lot of these new there's a lot of new types of ministries that are, you know, you got the healing ministries, and you got all these different types of ministries that are just popping up and everything, and they just want to make over, just overcomplicate the word of God, just overcomplicate the gospel in so many ways. And I remember just turning to David and just looking at him, and I'm like, I just love the way the old school preachers and everything just used to keep the word of God and the gospel just simple. Just, Jesus is just simple.
And for somebody just like me, you know, who was just so broken and just so lost, I just need the word of God to just be simple. Like, I don't need all this fancy stuff or anything. I just need Jesus just, he's just simple to me. I just need his grace, and I just need his love, and I just need him to tell me that he loves me, and I just need to feel his love and just know that I'm forgiven, and that's all I need to know. And when I share with people, I just need to tell people what he did for me, and what, and that's it. I just need to share, this is what Jesus did for me. Like, I don't need to complicate anything. Like, why should Jesus be complicated? And I remember just looking at him and tell him, why is everything so complicated now? Why are they complicated? It should not be complicated. No. No, it shouldn't. It should not. There's a lot of people, man, that fall into the rabbit hole of conspiracies, and it gets so far. Like, it's to the point where you go on YouTube, they will take pictures of movie stars, politicians, presidents, governors, and like, oh, look at this picture.
Look at how their hands are. That's a Masonic signal. That's a this, that's a. Somebody did it to me. I think there's a video where, I think I'm doing a podcast with you, one of the RBTs. I think I was going like this and they're like look what he's doing that that's a hand somebody somebody tried to use that against us and they try to Put us out there and they started to do all kinds of stuff yeah, and I think in one of them I got emotional and they started to say that I Was they started to even say things about me? It's like everything is so over complicated like everything. We're under this microscope Microscope in life. It's really weird, you know, and it's like it's so Overcomplicated that it's so hard to just talk to our own children about salvation you can't even talk to your own children about salvation about how You know, why should this be so complicated for our own children to talk to our own children about Jesus? and sometimes and I don't you know, cuz Kid can you imagine if somebody watched every gesture you did even the way like you just read look look my hands Like oh, would that mean something like what do you want me to do? Like just have my hands down like just hanging, you know, I'm gonna do this I'm gonna hold he rubbed his head. That means that he rubbed his nose. That means something he you know, and it just gets Don't just open your eyes man. That is the enemy making you a hamster. Do you want to be a hamster? Is that what you want do you just wake up and like, you know what I want to be a hamster in a wheel getting Nowhere, but going fast. Don't be that guy. Don't don't just be like I'm gonna serve the Lord I'm gonna read the Word of God and and that's it, you know, so Let's get down to these last five or six James in Fargo, North Dakota. It's nd right? I'm guessing Really love me and

Well Thank you so much Yeah, oh so I like this so praying for healing I want to share with you that praying for healing is I say that too, but in actuality, we don't pray for healing. We command healing. Amen Because when we're commanding we're not commanding God you can you or me can nobody can command God When we command healing we're not talking to God to heal somebody like hey, I command you to heal We're commanding that body to fall into submission because we're speaking for the Lord Because when we the Bible says that when we speak speak as the orals of God when we're speaking for God I command your body to be healed I command your bones to be mended a command your muscles tendon nerves headache Whatever it may be in the name of Jesus, you know, because everything we do in the name of Jesus in word and deed so Yeah, that's awesome. If you're seeing Manifestations of healing because that is for us And Ricky's solid dad, California, thank you so much. Thank you for your letter bless you last to Clavel I think in Cranston, Rhode Island Thank you for the art and also for the Mother's Day art. Thank you. We appreciate it. Thank you and Juan in Dublin, California and Questions, okay. Hold on. Oh, wait a minute. Let me put some Questions says the bottom of page look I even wrote down where it's at He's getting better at this you guys
Writing notes was Adam and Eve the first humans that God created What does he mean by mankind? You know That's a question honestly that we can lean this way lean that way but none of us have no we have no idea I'll say this is that you got to remember Genesis and the creation was written by Moses Moses wrote that thousands of years after the fact of creation So Moses can own Moses wasn't there Moses can only write what God revealed to him So when Moses is in a mountain for those 40 days and 40 nights God was revealing to him creation But, so when we read Genesis, we're actually reading Moses' revelation that he received from God thousands of years after the fact. So clearly Moses wasn't given a full account, Moses just wrote down what God showed him and what God gave him. Am I going to lean that Adam and Eve were the first humans? Yeah, I am, because I'm just going to take... That's what was spoken to him. Yeah, I wrote something on here, where the Bible is silent, we can't add to it. So it's safer to say, okay, the Bible says that Adam and Eve were the first, it doesn't insinuate anything else, I'm not going to add to it, so I'm just going to believe what it says. Yeah. That is a safer thing than to... It kind of goes back to the conversation we just talked about, then adding a... We can't put our own ingredients into something. Yeah, so if Cain married somebody else, because it even went down to the point where he said here in question two, who did Cain have a wife with? Is it true that he was intimate with his mom, Eve? See what I mean? This is what happens when we start to create our own stuff. That's how rumors are started.
That's how rumors get started. And by jealous people, I don't know. But see, this is where this leads down. It leads down a rabbit hole of, well, Cain went and had children, the only female was Eve, so does that mean he slept with his mom? See what I'm saying? That creates all kinds of... Remember that game telephone? Yeah. Yes. Yeah. They can't play that telephone game. Don't play telephone or the Bible. And I know this happens a lot in prison, is we want to fill in the blanks, you can't fill in the blanks. I am sorry. Word of God is the word of God. You can't add to it. You can't do this. Now, if you want to have a conversation and with other brothers and sisters and be like, you know what? I wonder this, right? That's one thing. That's kind of like dinner talk. But don't go and say, this is theology. This is broken. This is... I figured it out. I figured out the mystery. That is dangerous.
You know how many letters I get from people that they feel that they're the last prophet and they have the last revelation? That is weird, man. Because actually the very Bible itself, it says that God does not give anyone any private revelation. He's going to give it to the church. So Sharon's already putting the letters away. Usually she does that after I stop recording, so she must be as hungry as I am. Who's that arriving? Who's that? Is that Annette? She came back? That's what she was wearing, huh? Oh, yeah. All right. Yeah. All right. Anyways, guys, God bless you. That's one. I'm going to give you a super cat just for fun. Let's see here. Let's see. Let's see. Who do I give? Oh. The 10 cold meow men. Thou shalt have no other meows before me. And you get the praying super cat. I prostitute life over you. All right, guys.
I prostitute life over you. Didn't do nothing. With that, God bless you. Thank you so much. Thank you. And have a blessed, blessed day. And see you later. I got to be me. All right. God bless everyone. It's a little warm today, a little bit. Brother, it's good to see you guys. Yeah. Yeah, let's get the air on in here a little bit. All right.
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, guys. These restrooms are closed during Wednesdays. But you can always there's a bathroom if you go into the sanctuary to the right. And you're welcome to use that on Wednesdays. Amen. Real quick, guys, I just want to remind you, those of you that are here. If you guys have seen that we have our house of rest online community going. And if you could just especially if you're if you're somebody that got a certificate and you're holding a pin lapel. This is how we're going to press forward into leadership into leadership classes is to have us have a subscription on that. And it's a it's going to be amazing. We're adding some great classes. We're doing so much on there, guys. And, you know, if you want to consider that, if you want to put part of your and count it as part of your time, that's fine. You know, we just want to get as many people on there, especially those who have the lapel pins, because we want you to just further and go further and just be part of that community. And also, if you guys have been on Facebook, we're finally going to kick off our shirts again. We have some new shirts that are coming, new designs that are coming, some old designs that are coming. We're going to have them here on Sunday. And so that's going to be really nice. We're going to have all sizes all the way from little tiny babies all the way to five X. And so we're really excited about that. And with the shirts are twenty five. But obviously, if somebody is if I have to ship them, it's going to be a little bit more. But we're going to put them on the Web site. So the whole shopping cart will be on there just to make it easier. Sometimes before it would get a little confusing and whatnot. But today, for those of you that are here, I do have order forms for preorders. We're going to have the thick shirts that the guys like. And then the unisex shirts, a lot of the women like little softer and thinner material.
And that's going to be on the order form. I have them right here. So after service, if you are interested, that way we can get it to you and have it ready for you when you come in Sunday morning. But, yeah, we're really excited about that. And it's cool. It is cool. And we have West Sacramento in the house. Phyllis, you tell me which super cat do you want? It's your choice. Let me know which one you want. All right. We are in First Corinthians chapter eleven. This is one of those chapters that reading it 2,000 years later, we can have an opinion about what's going on. And that's just, I'm just being honest. Again. Amen. So we're going to go ahead and read First Corinthians chapter eleven. And I realize I'm not. Am I on it on here? Let's see here. There it is. We're going to read one through two. No, I wasn't able to set that up. Facebook would not be on today. As you guys know, Abraham is in Texas training, and he's the one that knows how to set that up. He kind of told me how to do it, and I forgot about it until like five minutes before study. So, I'm not used to having to do it. That's why we need Abraham.
Yeah, we need to clone him. I think they're doing that now. Yeah? All right. Let's see here. All right. So chapter 11, verses one and two. It says, be imitators of me as I am of Christ. So Paul is telling the church in Corinth this, and he goes right into this. He says, now I commend you because you remember me and everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you. And the message, it says, it pleases me that you continue to remember and honor me by keeping up the traditions of the faith that I taught you. All actual authority stems from Christ. All right. How about a cowboy's cat? Oh, of course. Jimmy Blaze, let's see. Let's see. All right. All right, so I like the fact that Paul is basically, you gotta remember, Paul would go and establish churches. And when he would establish churches, he was grateful that they would keep in the way that he taught them to. They didn't change things up.
And he's like, he goes, it pleases me that you continue, that you remember me, that you honor me in keeping the traditions that he taught, right? Because ultimately, he says, all actual authority stems from Christ. Because this is why he started off by saying, be imitators of me as I am of Christ. So he's like, listen, the way I established this church is the way that Christ told me to establish the church. So in essence, you're not just honoring me, you're honoring Christ because you're keeping up with the things that we should be doing. And so this is where it gets to where we're only gonna guess, and I'm gonna be honest with you, the context gets lost 2,000 years later. But we're gonna try it. We're just gonna hit it and try to get an understanding. In verse three, it says, but I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ. The head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God. Oh, that's no, that pretty much says it very straight. We're gonna read it in the message. It says, in a marriage relationship, there is authority from Christ to husband, from husband to wife. The authority of Christ is the authority of God. You know what I like about this, where it says, in a marriage relationship.
Now, I'm not trying to pick on some denominations, but I'm gonna pick on a denomination. There are places where they say that the woman is not allowed to even be on the stage, that if a woman shares her testimony, sings a song, anything, she has to do it from the bottom, and only the man could be up on the pulpit or behind the pulpit. And they will say that every woman is submission to the pastor of the man. Well, I'm sorry. My wife is not under anybody's authority but me. She doesn't have to submit because you're a man. It doesn't work like that. That's why I like how it says, in a marriage relationship, Christ is over the husband, and the husband's over the wife. So it's not like, oh, you're a man, so you can start ordering all the women around in the church. That is not what this is saying. And so we wanna get that because unfortunately, sometimes, and some of you that grew up in my culture, you know, you kind of lord over the women. The Bible says to love your wife the way Christ loves the church, to the point that he gave his life for it. So we wanna make sure we understand the context of what it's saying. But he is saying, though, here, that he wants you to understand
that the head of every man is Christ. So I've also seen this. I've seen men abuse this verse and say, woman, you gotta listen to me. me but he ain't listening to God right I see that in jail all the time they're on the pay phone talking about what do you mean you're going out it says in the Bible you got to submit to me blah blah blah this and that whatever but but as soon as he hangs up he's over there gambling and doing this and doing that if you want your wife to follow you then be a good man to follow and follow Christ because if not I to me all bets are off at that point I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ the head of a wife is their husband and the head of Christ is God and and so we I don't think there's nothing to not understand about that verse four every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head this is where we like okay what what we get lost in translation I'll be honest with you and we're only going to talk about some of the reasons why that verse is there I'm not going to sit here and tell you this is why it's there because I wasn't there when Paul wrote it but in the message it says in this wait wait wait let me back up uh any man who speaks with God or about God in a way that shows a lack of respect for the authority of Christ dishonors Christ so I want to read that portion again there's no reason to hurry we want to get a good understanding every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head and you're just like is he talking about a hat what is he talking about but let's slowly back up to verse three it says I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ so then in verse four if a man prophesies with his head covered in other words this man that is not submitting himself to the Lord has his head covered he dishonors his head he dishonoring God that makes sense more when we read it slowly because if not we can jump to the assumption and say he was talking about wearing a hat or uh God's is covering God's his head and if you cover that then he dishonors God you were going to stop wearing hats yeah um I will be honest with you though and I'm not saying it's biblical me I don't pray with my hat on I just don't it's not biblical it's not I just don't I just just the way I was raised if I'm wearing a cowboy hat or a baseball hat if I'm going to pray I take
my hat off just and just to honor God but you know I mean I just it's more tradition for me just a show of reverence yeah out of respect right you don't talk to you don't go to court in front of a judge with the hat on and if I'm going to honor this worldly judge like that of course I'm going to honor God even more so so um so uh we're in first corinthians 11 um verse five but every wife who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head since it is the same as if her head was shaven again you know like I said there's there's a gap of two thousand years but I'm going to read it in a message anyway we're going to talk about it it says in the same way a wife who speaks with God in a way that shows a lack of respect for the authority of her husband dishonors her husband so if if if we're looking at the man saying that he dishonors God because he's his covering right it seems to say that in the same way if a woman dishonors her husband then she's dishonoring God now mind you this is not a worldly husband this is not this is a godly man that is serving the lord that he submits to the lord and if she is not submitting to her husband in the right way then she's dishonoring God which is her covering exactly so and i'm gonna read it again every man who verse five but every wife who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head since it is the same as if her head were shaven I do want to say this though I look this up just for conversation wise and It says it says some of the things that could have been talking about How many of you you have a certain way that you talk to your siblings your parents and if somebody else were listening to they're Like what are you guys talking about? Because you guys have history Right and somebody else would be like what you know, and I don't I Remember I forgot who I was talking to. I think it was Abraham and And I was talking about the video game Red Dead Redemption where you're a cowboy and I forgot we were like in a public place and I was telling him how many people I killed And I'm like, yeah, man, I walked right up to that guy and did this and did that whatever video game You know how crazy that must have sounded So Sometimes when we read scripture
We're not understanding because I was written 2,000 years ago and just just be honest There's nothing wrong with saying you know what? We're only gonna guess at what they're talking about so I wrote this down that It could have been that the woman covering her head could have been an honor or shame culture in that city That's why I Paul mentioned it to that city Because Paul didn't mention it to the Roman Church. He didn't mention it to Ephesians he didn't mention it. So why did he mention it here? So it could be that that was something that was going on in that city makes sense. That could be a fact It could have been that in that city. They had to make male and female distinctions I have heard that there was some prostitutes in that city That in order for the men to know they were prostitutes they would shave their heads So when a woman would come into the church with their head shaved it would cause a disruption So they would say hey if you're gonna come and let's say if she's saved now, but her header hasn't grown out They're like just cover your head, you know, don't be a distraction That could have been a reason to So there's many reasons that may be and maybe some that we don't know and I think it's healthy to say, you know What we we're not sure You know and nothing wrong with it. Nothing wrong with reading the Bible and not knowing exactly what was going on It's okay It's okay Another thing it says the covering could have been a cultural symbol in Corinth for instance Maybe in that city respectable women covered their heads. We don't know Maybe in an uncovered hair could symbolize rebellion or sexual immorality or shame. We don't know Also Paul maybe wanted Christians to avoid bringing confusion or dishonor into worship. We don't know So these are things like I said, and this is why it's okay to read through the Bible and to say, you know what? Hmm, I'm gonna put a pin on that. I don't know. That's okay so Let's continue on Let's see verse
Six For if a wife will not cover her head then she should cut her hair short But since it is disgraceful for wife to cut off her hair or shave her head let her cover her head For a man ought not to cover his head Since he is the image and glory of God But woman is a glory of man For man was not made from woman, but woman from man In verse 9, this is neither was man created for a woman but woman for man I'm gonna read it in the message. Let's see. It says In the same In the same way a wife who speaks with God in a way that shows a lack of respect for the authority of her husband Dishonors her husband worse. She dishonors herself an ugly sight like a woman with their head shaved This is basically the origin of these customs. We have of women wearing head coverings in worship while men take their hats off By these symbolic acts men and women who far too often butt heads with each other submit their heads to the head which is God So again, it's one of those cultural things that maybe we will never fully understand until we are there with the Lord Instead of staying on there, we're just gonna keep reading verses 10 through 12 It says that is why a wife Ought to have a symbol of authority on her head because of the angels Nevertheless, in the Lord, woman is not independent of man, not man of woman. Verse 12, for as woman was made from man, so man is now born of woman, and all things are from God. I'm going to read it, whether it makes sense to us or not. In the message, it says, don't, by the way, read too much into the differences here between men and women, neither man nor woman can go it alone or claim priority. Man was created first as a beautiful shining reflection of God, that is true. But the head on a woman's body clearly outshines in beauty the head of her head, her husband. The first woman came from man, true, but ever since then, every man comes from a woman. And since virtually everything comes from God anyway, let's quit going through these who's first routines, the chicken or the egg, right?
I like that, because I like the fact that he was like, why are you guys butting heads about who's more important, who's more holy, okay, women, you know, God made Adam first, but you know what? Every man ever since then has came from a woman. What are we doing here? And I like how he says that, I like how he brings that in full circle, because nobody can say, you know, this world would be better off without men, or this world would be better off without women. We wouldn't last another generation, there would be no more children, women, you can't have kids without a man, and man, you can't have children without a woman. So verse 13, it says, judge for yourselves. Is it proper for a wife to pray to God with her head uncovered? Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair, it is a disgrace for him? But if a woman has long hair, it is her glory, for her hair is given to her for a covering. If anyone is inclined to be contentious, we have no such practice, nor do the churches of God. And the message, it says, don't you agree there's something naturally powerful in the symbolism, a woman, her beautiful hair reminiscent of angels, praying in adoration, a man, his head bared in reverence, praying in submission. I hope you're not going to be argumentative about this, all God's churches see it this way, I don't want you standing out as an exception. So this whole section, I believe, loses a lot of translation, not only 2000 years ago, but a completely different culture. This is a perfect reminder that this is a Middle Eastern book. A lot of times we want to Americanize the Bible, modernize the Bible, and that's where we get in trouble. We got to understand that even though the Bible is everlasting, it's also written within a culture of a people. And we can't forget that.
And I think that's important. All right, Marcella, which one you want? You choose it? You choose it. All right. One is not what I got. One is... Okay, you can... Oh, yeah. Oh. All right. So, you know, and I actually like the fact, this is a good example, I like the fact that it's this type of stuff that intrigues me and makes me learn history and culture. Because I want a deeper understanding. And when we read the Bible, we always got to keep in mind, this is a Middle Eastern book written in the Middle East 2000 years ago, to people that lived way different from us. Brother? Whenever I've read this over and over again, I have to remember that this is the city of Corinth. Yeah. It's a lot of what divides the church today, right? Red chairs, blue chairs, hands lifted, hands down, hats off, do you have to come in a suit? That kind of stuff. That's basically what he's doing here, right? I believe so. I believe when I read this, because see, if covering your head was an important thing overall... Why didn't he write it to the Ephesian church, to the Philippian church, to the Roman church? He said it to there, so there's something specifically going on there that he had to
address. But that's the whole book of Corinth also. Yeah. Yeah, he said a lot. He said a lot of stuff that he doesn't say anywhere else. Yeah. Because there was a lot of craziness going on. Yeah, it was off the hook there. Enrique? Yeah, I just wanted to go off of what he said. I think there was just a lot of trivial stuff that that church was going on. Yeah. And it seems like it's today too. There's a lot of things that believers are fussing about that doesn't need to be. Okay, perfect example. Here in California, there's a certain culture, a certain gang culture, that makes no sense to somebody from Minnesota. So imagine we're in a church and we're like, hey, brother, here in this church, we don't wear red, we don't wear blue. Some Minnesota dude will be like, oh my God, is blue or red a sin? Right? So in the same way, we got to remember that Corinth was a certain city, a certain place, certain culture, that these things made sense to them. So a lot of times we want to read the Bible and we fail to see that or realize that, yes, this is the word of God, but it was also a letter written to specific people at a specific time to a specific church of what was going on in that church. And Paul was addressing that church of what was happening. Does that mean that we do away with it? No, I think there's wisdom in there. I still think there's wisdom.
I still think... What? We weren't there to actually visually see it, so we have to remember when it was written. Exactly. And I think, too, just that he was saying in that portion of scripture that we all come from God. Don't try to elevate one over the other. The main thing is that our covering is God, and that's where it's going to stem from. That's where it comes back full circle. Right? Yes. Even besides the women covering, the men, this and that, ultimately Paul's like, listen, it all belongs to God. It's all the Lord anyway. Ultimately, he's the head of this whole thing anyways. So it all comes full circle, right? But I like that. It's things like that. I don't have an issue or a problem saying, you know what, I don't know, because this stuff intrigues me. And I think it's good. It's good to wonder. It's good... Can you imagine if we had every answer? I mean, I think we would cease to study and read and pray. So I think it's a good thing. It's a healthy thing. Because there's no way we could ever put God in a box. If we could put God in a box, he ceases to be God. You know, so, yeah, Phyllis, Corinth was a crazy town, kind of like West Sac.
Sorry. Okay. Verse 17. So remember, keep this in mind, that this is a letter that he's writing to this church. So obviously he's answering questions of a letter he received. So we don't get to see the letter he received. All we do is get to read his answers to that church. It's almost like what we do with Christ on the Barge. Oh, yeah, this is the first Christ on the Barge, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, he's answering back. We're just answering the letters that we receive. Yeah, exactly. Perfect example. Okay. So verse 17 through 19. He says, But in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse. Oh, he's about to rebuke. He says, For in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear there are divisions among you, and I believe it in part. For there must be factions among you in order that those who are genuine among you may be recognized. So I'm going to read it in the message. Look what it says. It says, Regarding this next item. So he's like now moving on from the head covering, let's go on to a different subject now. He says, This next item I am not at all pleased. I'm getting the picture that when you meet together it brings out your worst side instead of your best. So he started hearing a report of the church getting together. Have you ever heard where people start clicking together and there's clicks in the church?
Hey, that ain't a new thing. That ain't a Modesto thing. That was a current thing. It was happening there too. And he's like, When you guys get together, it brings out the worst of you. First, I get this report on your divisiveness, competing with and criticizing each other. I'm reading the message. He says, I'm reluctant. believe it but there it is the best that can be said for it is that the testing process will bring truth into the open and confirm it so he's like I'm where why am I hearing about this I established this church I I went away for a year and a half and now I'm hearing that you guys are into little gangs into little groups like what's happening what's going on bless you what's going on amen so he says so when you come together it is not the Lord's Supper that you eat for in eating each one goes ahead with his own meal and one goes hungry and another gets drunk what do you not have houses to eat and drink in or do you despise the Church of God and humiliate those who have nothing what shall I say to you shall I commend you in this no I will not I'm gonna read in the message and clearly I love this because it gives us a glimpse of what was happening verse 20 says in the message and then I find out that you bring your divisions to worship you come together and instead of eating the Lord's Supper you bring in a lot of food from the outside and make pigs of yourselves and some are left out and go home hungry others have to be carried out too drunk to walk I can't believe it don't you have your own homes to eat and drink in why would you stoop to desecrating God's church why would you actually shame God's poor I never would have believed you would stoop to this and I'm not gonna stand by and say nothing Wow so they were taking the tradition of the Lord's Supper where Jesus says do this often and it was meant to be something beautiful something to share to break bread together so they can partake of the bread and partake of the wine at that
time and they turned it into a straight-up what are they called when everybody brings food potluck but they were only sharing it with the people they were close to and other people were coming that were hungry and they weren't eating they were doing their own thing so you have people that had money and they're bringing food and people that didn't have none and Paul's like are you serious this is what it comes down to you're gonna separate yourself in and basically he says you're desecrating the the Church of God Abram Rodriguez thank you brother thank you so much I know exactly which one I want to give you for no other reason than talking about what we're talking about right this is an issue now how can we translate this to today how does that apply to today can somebody how can this be how does this happen today how can it because surely don't happen here because we're awesome but at other places how could this happen any examples where you're feel like you're left out or people have felt left out can this happen today in what way somebody give an example it's like that in every church yeah I think there's even been misunderstandings where you know people have stayed really late here till even after and we people have stayed and cleaned and stayed longer till after and obviously we have to eat and stuff you know and people have thought like because the people that stay and work and do you know the financial or just you know the administration and everything stay like two or three hours after and do the cleaning and everything we obviously have to eat and then we go eat and then you have people that will see us that we're eating together and everything they're like oh well look it you guys are all guys are always getting together and you guys go and eat but they don't understand and we tell them hey you're welcome to come and and stay with us you know but we say and we clean and we do things that please you know you're welcome to please come with us but in order to do that you got to stay and hang out with us until we go do that I think people have misunderstood that we don't just stay here and just hang out, but we're actually doing stuff after service for quite some time.
And I think people kind of don't really truly understand that, that sometimes we stay for quite some time and then we get things done and then we go eat. But, I don't know. Yeah, but I do think that, you know, Paul's not saying that. He's saying you guys are doing it for the wrong intentions. You are gathering and you're leaving people out. You are doing that. So, I do get that because I remember in the beginning of House of Rest, you know, this church started in the basement of my house, so it was really easy after church to go upstairs and everybody eat. The whole congregation, because it was like 15 people and 5 kids. But then when I got a building later, we were so used to eating together for a whole year, every Sunday. But then we started getting more people and more people and more people. And so those people, like you said, exactly what Sharon said, would stick around, would help, would help clean, this and that. And then two hours later after service, we're like, man, I'm hungry. You hungry? Yeah, let's go get pizza. Let's go to Rico's or something, you know, and we'd go eat and somebody would post it on Facebook. But then the people that were leaving right after service were saying, man, where's the invite? That's messed up. You know, and I'm like, yeah, you know, and I'm like, I remember I had to address it because people were really getting, and actually, honestly, at that point, I said, you know what? Quit putting pictures on Facebook because I don't want to hurt people. But the hurt people, I'm like, listen, if you help clean, guess what? In two hours, you're going to be hungry with us and you're going to be sitting there at Rico's Pizza with us. That's just the honest truth, exactly what you're saying. But these people weren't doing that. He was rebuking them because they were almost differentiating themselves because some people were poor and some were rich and they're in the same church. And he's like, listen, you got your own home. You want to eat extravagant? You want to eat lobster and this and that? Fine. But in the Lord's house, if you eat, we all eat. And then they started getting drunk. Instead of just partaking, they're just like, oh, you know what I mean? I'm doing this for the Lord. And it was a big old goblet, you know? So this was happening here. Miriam, thank you. Thank you. I'm going to give you. All right. So, yeah, he's rebuking them. What? What do you mean? Are you backed up? Forward it. Are you behind?
Why is he backed up? It's just your phone special. You know, that city, it had so many different nationalities coming from all over. It was. And they had their own ideas. And so that's why they were so confused and mixed up, because, you know, they wanted to put their ideas on other people. Yeah. And it was just bad. It's almost like they had the freedom of religion. What do you mean? I mean, with all these different cultures that were in the city. Yeah. And they were all doing their own religions. Yes. And then they started bumping heads. And he had, like you said, we don't know what that letter said. Yeah. But look at how he's answering. He's covering a bunch of stuff. Yeah. That's crazy. I never thought about this. Thank you. Okay. Where are we at here? 22. 22. Wait, is it 22? Let's do 22. 23. 23, right? All right. It says,
do this in remembrance of me in the same way also he took the cup after supper saying this cup is the new covenant in my blood do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me for as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup you proclaim the lord's death until he comes it's almost like he had to remind them all over again and the message it says i love that he goes let me go over with you again exactly what goes on in the lord's supper and why it is so centrally important i received my instructions from the master himself and passed him on to you the master jesus on the night of his betrayal he took bread and having given things he broke it and said this is my body broken for you do this to remember me and after supper he did the same thing with a cup this cup is my blood my new covenant with you and each time you drink this cup remember me what you must solemnly realize is that every time you eat this bread and every time you drink the cup you reenact in your words and actions the death of the master you will be drawn back to this meal again and again until the master returns you must never let familiar let fam familiarity breed contempt i love that because he's like listen have we forgot why we do this is this to show off is this to just share with your friends is this even about you getting full is this about your belly no this is about jesus i love that he's bringing it back to jesus like what are we doing this for and i think we can say that about church right if we're coming to to okay if we're giving in order to have the fanciest church we're off track if we're whatever ministry we're doing is it to have the biggest ministry in modesto we're off track if what we do isn't about jesus we're off track i don't care how many people are getting healed i don't care how many demons are being cast out i don't care how many people are speaking in tongues i don't care how much prophecy you're getting in that church i don't care how much a spirit moves in that place if it's not about jesus it is off track and i think that's what he's trying to get to he's like listen have we forgot what this whole thing's about it's about him it's not about us it's not about us you know and i think that that's where it goes wrong it's like we want to put the name of jesus and stamp it on something and automatically think he approved it it's about him and when you say love it's true because god is love because love is a person and it's christ he is love you know so everything that we do and so they were taking something that was supposed to be holy and set
apart and turned it into something else and and i believe that we can take something that is meant for god in the church and turn it into something else we can turn our sunday service into something else we could turn evangelism from what it's supposed to be into something else you know i i have this is my opinion i believe that you can go and and evangelize the lost with the pure heart because you want to reach the lost i believe also that you can go out there to evangelize because you want that high because you don't get high off drugs anymore ain't nobody got blessed in that street corner but you because of what you did look what i'm doing look at what look at the how loud i'm yelling look at the flag i'm waving look at the look at the how many people i'm i fed look at how much oatmeal i gave well guess what that's your reward you quit making it about the lost and jesus and you made it about you and how much people you got around you and the same thing can be said about the preacher and the same thing can be said about the preacher you know and it's like it's not even about the message it's not even about the loss it's about how many people he can hoard into his building it's all it has to be about him brother that scripture is that what you just said right now i read it the other day He says that when you're doing it for that reason, that is your reward. Yeah, when they're praying in the streets, he says. Yeah, you're doing whatever you're doing, helping someone, whatever it might be. If you're doing it with that reason only, then that's already your reward. You're not storing up what's supposed to be stored up. That's it. You did it for only that reason. Let's say somebody is starving, and they're eating out the garbage can. And you see them. And your first thought is to record yourself giving them food. And you're going to get 1,000 likes. And the Lord said, that's your reward right there. That's your reward. But what if you do it because you can't stand the fact of another human eating out of a trash can, and it breaks your heart? And the last thing you think about is recording it.
You just feed them, because Jesus says, when you feed those who are hungry, you're feeding me. Yeah. It doesn't matter if nobody sees you, because he sees you. Because you did it out of a heart because of him. So we're going to choose our rewards. In ministry, in everything we do, what's your reward? I would rather bank my rewards in heaven, because those are everlasting. Because likes mean nothing five minutes later, because then somebody is liking somebody else's post. That stuff, that's not even real. And I think that he was really upset, because he's like, man, you're taking something so beautiful, so meaningful, and you're turning it into dishonor. Matthew 6, what does it say? Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will not have no reward from your Father in heaven. Wow. You will not have your reward from your Father in heaven. Yeah. Wow. Wow. Okay. Are we at 29 or 27? Okay. 27. It says, whoever therefore eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and the blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. In the message it says, anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Master irrelevantly is like part of the crowd that jeered and spit on him at his death. Is that the kind of remembrance you want to be a part of? Examine your motives, test your heart, and come to this meal in holy awe.
Man, Paul was serious about communion. He's like, when you desecrate that meal, it's like you're spitting on Jesus. That's how serious Paul was about this. You know, that's why when we do it, were you going to say something? Okay. That's why when we do it once a month, that is something serious. That is not something to hurry through. That is something like, oh man, I want to go get tacos. Like, no man, that is a holy moment. That is something special. That whether you're rich or poor or broke or whatever, we're all partaking of the same piece of bread and the same juice together. Gloria? So you're saying I'm doing it unworthy. So unworthy would be not repenting while you're, before you do take it. You know, I think that that's again, kind of like scripturally, it never says take your hat off, but I take my hat off when I pray. I think in the same way, nowhere in the Bible does it say to repent before you do, but honestly, I like it out of reverence. I think we should examine our hearts. I don't think it's like, oh, you didn't repent. I'm going to kill you now. You know, I don't think it's like that. I think it's a beautiful reverence to the Lord to say, Lord, I want to take this, but I want to take this to honor you, Lord. So if I have offended you in any way, Lord, just forgive me in the name of Jesus. I want to have a clean conscience. It's not doesn't say in scripture to say that I don't see nothing wrong with that. I think it's it's something I do You know It goes back to reverence
Tino I've been extremely angry with this angel of a wife that I have It's been communion and I made sure not to take my communion because my my heart was not Anywhere where it needed to be to be taken that so that goes back to reverence. Yeah I so for me it all falls into what he says here is like that's crazy that he put it like that I've never read the message, but that puts a whole new perspective. It's spitting on God. You're one of them. That's crazy Someone just told him that before we came so he has it fresh on his mind All right, Sharon wants the super cub for those who are and in vacation Okay 29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself That is why many of you are weak and ill and some have died But if we judged ourselves truly We would not be judged And the message is simple And the message it says let me read 32, but when we are judged by the Lord we are disciplined So that we may not be condemned along with the world The message says if you give no thought or worse don't even care about the broken body of the master when you eat and drink You're running the risk of serious consequences That's why so many of you even now are listless and sick and others have gone to an early grave If we get this straight now, we won't have to be straightened out later on It's better to be confronted by the master now than to face a fiery Confrontation later man. This is so Paul's like man. This is why some of you are dead Because you disrespected communion Because that's why some of you are sick So again, this was something that maybe it doesn't translate well now because in America we're just like oh Whatever whatever but man, this is something that was taken very serious Yeah, Phyllis says you can bring sickness on the body You know, so It's it goes back to reference It goes back to honoring God and and respect and in America. We don't know what that is anymore
We don't know what reverence is it's not even in a regular vocabulary an average conversation the word reverence Who uses that other than in church? It's not you respect, you know It's not used, you know, like in my day when my mom made food and she said your plates ready and I'm I said All right If I didn't go sit down and eat I was disrespecting my mom You know if even like three minutes would pass and I'm sitting there playing with my hot wheels whatever my dad would be like Hey, did you hear your mom? She said food is ready Because it was disrespectful to mom if she made the meal and then put it in a plate and it's still warm and and then It got cold. That was a disrespect. Like I don't anybody else grew up like that Okay, right Yeah Right, man Yeah There was reverence in the wrath of God instantly It was just disrespectful You know, you're not going to have a mom cooking dinner and you sitting there playing with your habas Like that ain't going to happen And that was last year, you know what I mean? When I was already an adult I know, they get a plate and take it to their lap and start playing hubbub It's different now Can you also say that? Burn? Yeah. Oh, burn. Burn you to pennies. Okay, so verse 33. So then, my brothers,
when you come together to eat, wait for one another. If anyone is hungry, let them eat at home so that when you come together it will not be for judgment. About the other things, I will give directions when I come. In the message it says, so my friends, when you come together to the Lord's table, be reverent and courteous with one another. If you're so hungry that you can't wait to be served, go home and get a sandwich. That's the message, right? It says, but by no means risk turning this meal into an eating and drinking binge or a family squabble. It is a spiritual meal, a love feast. The other things you asked about, I'll respond to it in person when I make my next visit. So, you know, sometimes we're like, how do we get this tradition of, you know how when we have communion and we're like, alright everybody, hold the bread,
let's pray, let's partake together. That's where this tradition comes from. Because look how it says, it says, so then my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for one another. So these are good things to, you read it and you're like, that's where that comes from. That's why when we have communion, everybody partakes together. That's why when we have the juice, everybody drinks together. Because of scriptures like this, when he says, when we come together, wait for one another. What does she do? Oh, I know what she does. When everybody gets a food, even if it's like 30 of us, she waits. Yeah, she likes cold food. Yeah. Literally. If I pray for any food, I'm eating, man. If you don't got your plates, that's on you. You shouldn't have ordered something so complicated for that chef. Poor Raven. I'm covered in prayer. Look, Raven waits for 30 people. I don't know if Raven knows what warm food tastes like. I don't think
she does. But yeah, she does do that. Yeah, she does. Is that where you get it from? From this verse? No, I didn't know it was this verse. Oh, something you were just raised with probably. But see, I mean, everybody's raised a different way in their house, right? My dad got the biggest piece of chicken. And to this day, if me and my brothers are there, dad is still going to get the first pick. That's just the way it is. Do you have the first plate of food at the house too? Yeah, and I don't share with everyone. He got the bad habit of sharing everything she ate. He thought he was going to do the same to me. My plate is mine. You ain't touching my plate. Don't touch my leftovers. Nothing. My daughter don't care. She'll come and still take my plate and I'll be like, no, that's mine. So, you know,
ultimately, I enjoy this. Phyllis says, no wonder my dad always says hurry up, your food's getting cold. Amen. You know, I really enjoyed this chapter, guys, because even though he kind of started talking about head covering and the Lord's Supper, it brings humanity into the fact that this is literally a letter to a church. Sometimes we're like, oh, it's the Bible. And it is the Bible. It is Scripture. But don't take away the fact that it's literally a letter to a church where Paul is addressing things that were told to him, and he's addressing them to that church. Yeah, there was no order there. But he was trying to give order. He was trying to explain and teach them. In the same way, if you go to the book of Revelation, Jesus says to John, he says, I have something to say to the seven churches you oversee. And he had something different to say to each of the churches because there was different things going on in each church. And I truly believe that if the Lord would speak right now, today, out loud in an audible voice, he would say something
different to House of Rest. He would say something different to Victory Outreach down the street. He would say something different to Living Word in, you know, Hanford. He would say something different to the Revival Center. He would say something different to the house church. Because each of us have different things that Jesus would address. And I think there's nothing wrong with that and I think sometimes when we don't understand that We can literally make a whole denomination because of something that was said to the corinthian church and we're like no No, he said it there. So and i'm like, dude Yes, it's there. Yes. It's scripture, but He was saying it to that church And we have to understand that There's I believe there's different things that the lord would commend us and there's certain things he'd rebuke us And there's certain things he would commend the other churches down the street and there's certain things he'd rebuke them You know, and that's just the way it is because he he he chastises those he loves He brings correction Because no matter what? You know, whatever we're doing. There's always room for correction And and that's a good thing because that's what a father does That's what a father does, you know There's many times I I did things that my dad was teaching me and I will do it and I was getting it done But he'd be like no you're doing that wrong You're using the wrong tool for that. You're making it harder for yourself, you know little things, you know, and I wouldn't get mad I would just take the direction you know, and um, so That's a good chapter
And next week we're gonna uh start with chapter 12. It's getting interesting because it's going to go into the spiritual gifts
