Unstuck - 4 Steps Out Of Stuck | Pastor Terrence Mullings

We touch this book to wash our hearts. We touch this book to wash our mind. In fact, we touch this book to wash our entire body because the Bible says, by the washing of the Word, you will be clean. Come on now, anyone grateful that the Word of God washes my sins away, washes my past away? This Word, it's living and it's active. This is the Word of God. Anyone here grateful for the Word? Week two of Vision Sunday. Last week, we called it Birthday Sundays. We celebrated four years as a church and I'm speaking to you from this title. You ready? The title is Unstuck, Unstuck. And I've been giving you four steps out of stuck into unstuck. And you know, who's ever been stuck in their life? Hands up if you've been stuck. A few people. That's good, most people. Some of you, your hands are stuck and won't go up. We've all been stuck because who knows, there is a distance between where you are and honestly, where God has called you to be. And sometimes we're stuck in this in between. Some of you are stuck in a situationship. Come on, look straight ahead, look straight ahead. You know who you are.

Some of you are stuck with someone who is stuck and the relationship doesn't progress because they're stuck and the relationship has stalled. Now some of you in a friendship that's toxic, stuck. Some of you in a marriage that's stuck and you need to exit, not through divorce. No, no, no, you need to exit the stuck in your mind because God's got you out of Egypt but he hasn't got Egypt out of you. And that's why you're stuck in the relationship and you think you need to leave. No, no, no, you just need stuck to leave out of your mind so you can step into all that God has for you. I reckon three people could clap their hands on that point right there. Divorce may not be the answer in Jesus' name. Some of you are stuck renting. Some of you are stuck on a job and you feel like you gotta push through this glass ceiling. You know, this person got the promotion. How did she get the promotion? I did all the work. You know, you're stuck in a job and you're like, God, when is my breakthrough gonna come? You might be stuck like me at 210 pounds and you need to get down under 200 to 199

to be at your fighting weight. You know, I'm actually pleased to announce at the start of the year, I had a goal to lose 20 pounds and I'm excited to say on February 22nd, I think it is, I've only got 25 pounds to go. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. I got some work to do. Someone say stuck. You might be stuck in a rut and I wanna give you today four steps out of stuck. Four steps out of stuck because you'll never step into your promised land until you learn to take faith steps. Faith step, not just one step, not just two because God had to get him out of slavery. He had to get him through the Red Sea. He had to get him out of the wilderness. He had to get him through the River Jordan. He had to get them into the promised land. Come on, that's not just one step, that's many steps. And in fact, in the Christian walk, many times we think we take a leap of faith. It's a jump. No, no, no, it's less of a jump, but it's more of a journey. You like that jump? That was a great jump, wasn't it? It's very, very ballerina-ish. I don't know why I did that. God is teaching you as you go on this journey,

someone say journey, to walk by faith and not just by sight, by faith that you're spiritualized. Here's what Hebrews 6, 12 says. We do not want you to become lazy, lazy. Lazy people are stuck, but rather I want you to imitate those who through faith in God and patience with God inherit what has been promised. God has a promised land. You know, the four things, and don't put it up on the screen yet, is God wants you to step up, God wants you to step out, God wants you to step through, and then God wants you to step into. Let's say it together. For those taking notes, write this down. God wants you to step up, let's say it, He wants you to step out, He wants you to step through, and He wants you to step into, into. Those four things are so essential. Last week, I gave you the first one, kind of gave you the bookends. This week, I want to fill in the other two, so you can actually take faith steps into what God has for you. Number one is this. God wants you to step up.

Someone say, step up. You got to step up, and you got to stop sitting where you've been sitting in Shittim. Stop sitting in Shittim and get... Now, if you're here for the first time, I'm not swearing. It's actually biblical. Let me just read it for you. Joshua 3.1 says, not late, but early in the morning, Joshua and all the Israelites set out from, shout it out. They set out from Shittim, and they went to the Jordan where they camped before crossing over. If you're going to step into your Jordan River, you got to stop sitting in Shittim. You got to stop sitting in that place, and you got to step up. Someone say, step up. Why early? Why early? We learned last week because Joshua didn't wait for momentum. Joshua created momentum. And as a generation of Joshua stepping into your promised land, because it is harvest time, you need to not just wait for something to move. No, no, no. You move. And then the things in your life will move. In fact, Joshua is a picture of Jesus. Now this is new. I'm going to give you some new stuff on point one, so do take some notes. Joshua, write this down, is the shadow and Jesus is the substance. Notetakers are history makers, so I really want to tell you, do write some notes.

Joshua is the what? And Jesus is the substance. You know, all of the New Testament Jesus is actually in the Old Testament. It's just concealed. And all of the Old Testament is actually in the New Testament. That's where it's revealed who this Jesus is. And in fact, Joshua is a type of Jesus. By that I mean that Joshua, his name in the Hebrew actually means Yeshua. It's the same word Yeshua for Jesus in the Greek. Joshua is a prototype of who Jesus is going to be. And let me show you in a scripture. Watch this. Joshua led them into the promised land, which was a physical one, flowing with what? Milk and honey. He led them into the promised land flowing with milk and honey. The Bible says in the New Testament that Jesus, John 10, 10, comes that we might be led into not a physical promised land, but an eternal one. And in John 10, 10, he says he has come that we might have life and life more abundantly. So watch this. Milk, what do babies drink? Milk. It sustains you. It strengthens you. But honey, on the other hand, that satisfies you. And so God's saying the land he takes you in is going to sustain you and it's going to satisfy you. And Jesus turns up and he says I've come you might have life. That's eternal life, your name written in the book of life. But more than that, I want you to have life and life more abundantly. I want you to have life written in your book while you're here on earth. And this is why Jesus, our Joshua, has come. So Joshua led them into the promised land. Watch this. Joshua also in the Old Testament led them into the land with a spear. In fact, it says in Joshua 8, 26, Joshua kept holding out the spear until every one of the enemies in Ai was completely destroyed. Joshua led them and he used the spear to defeat the Amalekites, the Hittites, the Vegemites, Mozibites, all the ites.

He used a spear. Our Jesus in the New Testament didn't wield a spear. He withstood a spear. And because he took the spear, he is our Jesus who leads us into a promised land with a different type of spear. When Joshua uses the spear, the blood of enemies are all over the ground. When Jesus uses the spear, his blood, the blood of our Savior, is all over the ground. And that would excite you when you realize, where did we come from? The Bible says that God formed Adam from the ground. It's like his blood, Jesus, is now being spilled on the ground. And because we came from the ground, it means you and I are now covered by the blood of Jesus. So every assignment and every attack on your life, you are now covered by the blood. Are there a few people here at the 1pm who are excited about the fact that you've been covered by the blood of Jesus Christ? The Bible says the wages of sin is death. And aren't you grateful that Jesus died the death that we deserve so we can now live and enter into our eternal promised land? Can I go deeper? Let me tell you some more. Jesus is our Joshua. Jesus is our Joshua, helping us step up out of Shittim. It's a place, write this down, three things characterize this place. Number one, it's a comfort zone. It's a comfort zone. You know, one of the greatest tragedies, I believe, of the wilderness is that the people got comfortable and settled there. I wonder how many of us have settled for wilderness when God has a promised land for us. It's a comfort zone. Number two, it's a place of compromise. They compromised and settled for temporary when God had permanent for them. Some of you are dating your temporary. Some of you have settled for a snack when God has a whole meal prepared for you, a three-course meal. Come on, aren't you grateful that God has more? I don't want to settle for the resource when I can actually receive from the source.

God has more for you, and if you stay in that place of Shittim, comfort zone, compromise will lead to catastrophe. Catastrophe. When you stay in a place, you shouldn't stay too long. Eventually, you will intermingle with the Moabites, and they will kill you. You know, in this place, the wilderness, they never developed any spiritual muscle because they never knew how to fight because everything that they got, God gave them by miracles. They gave them manna by day and by night every single year for 40 years. Think about it. Their clothes, the miracles, their clothes didn't run out. Those literally lasted them from four years old until 44. I mean, that's a miracle. The clothes grew with them. The clothes didn't wear out. It stayed clean. I mean, whatever that garment is, I want that in my Amazon cart right now. It's, I mean, that's the miracle. And let me show you what I showed you last week. The Savior is with you. If you find yourself in a comfort zone, if you find yourself in a place where you've settled, God turns up in that place. In fact, the Savior, Joshua, when he was leading them from the wilderness into the promised land. I showed you last week that Joshua is a picture of Jesus, where Jesus has stepped into our River Jordan. Now the River Jordan was not just any old river that you could cross easily. Now, in this time when God called them to cross over,

the Bible says it was harvest time. Someone say harvest time. What does that mean? It means the Jordan River had burst its banks. It means that crossing over was not just dangerous, it was a death sentence. And so why would God call them to cross at this time? Because it's a picture of Jesus, that Jesus stepped into your Jordan and my Jordan. He stepped into the death sentence that should have been for you and I, because all have sinned. Not only did he do that, but the Bible says as soon as they stepped in, the waters all the way up at where? This town called what? Adam. Come on, that means that your sin, your shame, your shortcomings, not just yours, but generational curses, things that have been coming to you from the beginning of sin through Adam and Eve. What was meant to come and be a river of death to take you out, Jesus steps in and he holds it back all the way to Adam. And then he also holds it back, the waters dried up, the Bible said, all the way to this thing called the Dead Sea. There is a river of death that's leading, that's coming at your way with such ferocity. And you know what I'm talking about

because it happens in your mental health. It's happening in your relationship and your finances right now. And you don't know what to do. Invite Jesus into your Jordan. Because when he gets in, the Bible says that he holds back the waters there and he holds back the waters there. And that was a picture of what? The cross. The cross makes your crossing possible. The cross makes your cross over from wilderness to promised land. In fact, your cross makes your crossing from death into life a possibility. That's what we learned. And this is why we can't sit in Shittim. We need to step up, step up. Someone say step up. So the first step requires action because you don't drift into promise. You have to step into promise. Someone say step. You gotta step into your promise. The first step, and hear my heart, this is about consecration. This is a heart posture because before God does something through you, he actually has to do something in you. You ever heard that song?

Remember that song we used to sing? ♪ Everlasting, your light will shine when all else... ♪ ♪ Never ending, your glory goes beyond time... ♪ And we've got harmonies going on in this place as well. I love it. Did someone mess up the words over there? Yeah, cha-cha, praise God for cha-cha. You see, there's an everlasting light. The Bible says everlasting, your light will shine. Can I tell you, there is a light that God wants you to shine. He wants to shine it in you so he can shine it through you. But sadly, a lot of us, our light has gone out. We've burnt out. We have spun out. Do you know that natural lights only last for a certain period of time? Anyone that live in a house where it has light bulbs, anyone? Where do you live if you didn't put your hand up? Come on. When you live in a house with light bulbs, you know those light bulbs need changing. You know how I know that? Because I'm a handyman. In our house, I hand them on the tools and they change. Do you even need tools to change a light bulb? Well, in my house, I hand the woman, my wife, the light bulb, she changes the light bulb. Amen.

I can't be good at everything, Maria. Come on. Don't hate, don't hate. I'm not good at everything. But I do know you have to change the light bulb. And I say that to say that there is a change that needs to happen in our heart. And this first step of stepping up is God trying to do a change from the inside out. He wants it. That's why we sing. ♪ Let there be light and let the whole world sing ♪ ♪ We're singing for the glory of the risen King ♪ Oh, man, you all joined the worship team. You sound so great. But God wants to change a light inside of you. And the light that he wants to do inside of you is not a light that's gonna be snuffed out by the pressures. It's not gonna be snuffed out by people. It's not gonna be snuffed out by problems. Because when God spoke, he said, let there be light and there was. God did that on the first day. Let there be light. Do you realize it wasn't until the fourth day that God created the sun. So the light that God creates in your life is the same light that exists today that causes salvation. It is Jesus. Jesus Christ who was, and is, and is to come.

I want to tell you there is a light that you've been looking for and his name is Jesus. And the only way to get the light inside of you is this thing called consecration. God wants a light to shine from the inside of you for the whole world to see. Watch this, the light that shines consecrates us from darkness and into light. It's so we don't burn out, so we can shine brightly. The Bible says about this Joshua, let me show you one more parallel, Joshua got up, not late, but the Bible says Joshua got up early, early to consecrate the people to move from wilderness to promise. 2,000 years ago, three days after his death, our Joshua, Jesus, got up early out of the grave to consecrate us and set us apart so we could move from death into life. Come on, I'm preaching better than you're responding here this afternoon. Joshua 3.2 says after three days, after tres dias, the officers went through the camp. Now, why would God allow them to spend three days sitting there in front of this River Jordan that's at flood stage? I mean, it's roaring, it's gushing, fear is rising every single day as I look at this thing that's not just impossible, but it's impossible. I can't get through this thing. Let me tell you why, because consecration takes time. It takes a while, like God can get you out of Egypt real quick, but it took 40 years to get Egypt out of them. It took them 40 years of wandering, but God says, I can do it quicker than you think, three days, three days. Abraham traveled for three days before he offered Isaac. And what was the consecration that God had to do in Abraham? God had given him a promise. I promise you, I'm going to give you this child. Sometimes God gives you a promise, but you don't have the promise. The promise has you. And if everything that God gave you, you will not give it back to him. So what God was teaching Abraham is not self-reliance, but God reliance.

Can I tell you, some of you are trying to hold on to something so tightly, and I'm not just talking about the money and Abraham Lincoln's dying of being choked, or the Benjamin, Franklin. You're holding on to this relationship, you're holding on to that thing too tight in your hands, release it to God, and watch what God will do. Three days. Let me say it prophetically. Three days. Jonah was in the belly of a whale for how many days? Three days. Because God was transitioning an old mindset from him into a new mindset. What God was saying, Jonah, you're too selfish. It's all about you. But I need you to go through this whale, this transition so you can shift from selfishness to generosity. I need you to care more about my people than I care for you. And here's the scripture. It says, I will refresh those who refresh others. The reason why you got so much mental anxiety, so much pressure and stress in your life is because you're trying to build with your hands what God wants to do with His hands. Unless God builds the house, the labor is built in vain. And you've got to understand, promised land doesn't end, you don't enter promised lands because of your strength. You enter promised lands because of His strength, amen? And God wants to do something for you, you can't do for yourself. Jesus rose not on the first day but on the third day. He's writing this down, consecration leads to transformation. If you allow God to consecrate you, it will transform you from death to life. You know, three signals transition, three services is us transitioning, watch this, from my strength to His strength. Because I can't do all this on my own, I can't preach on my own, so I've got to get discipleship

on overdrive because we need more worship leaders, we need more band leaders, we need more preachers, we need more meeting leaders like Julie. Come on, didn't Julie do an amazing job? Give her a round of applause. I'm so proud of her, she's probably going over to History Maker's kids right now to look after the kids. But I want to tell you that this is going to cause us to have to transform, change form, not my strength but His strength. Write this down, there is always a waiting before the taking. There's always a waiting, God I'm waiting on, no, no, you're not waiting on God, God's waiting on you. He's waiting on you so that He can see His image in you. What you are going through is not breaking you, what you're going through is making you. It's making you into the image of Jesus. So some of you think, I am hustling and I'm trying to get this thing, no, no, you're not trying to get that, God's trying to get His reflection and image in you. How will you respond to this offense? How will you respond to this? God is trying to say, will the image of Jesus, when you are squeezed, what comes out? Consecration, consecration. Three days is where you allow your heart to align with God's heart, it's where you allow faith to mature. Now because God's bringing you into a new season, you cannot take the old mindset into a new season. consecration. Consecration is not God looking for perfection from you. He's not looking for perfection. He's looking for separation That's what holy means, to be separate. God is looking for you to be separate from the things that are dark He wants you to walk in light. God wants you to be separate from those things that are natural He wants you to walk in the supernatural. The key is this, you will not cross over without consecration You know Muslims? The Muslim people with Muhammad Akbar

The Muslims actually read this book called the Quran and what I've learned when Muslims go to their Book school, the Quran school, like Bible school, they don't touch their book, the Quran, without washing their hands They have such a reverence and they have such an awe that this thing is holy and consecrated in their eyes that they won't touch it without washing their hands or washing their mouth And in fact, they got to make sure everything around them is clean and washed Do you know what Muslims call us Christians? Muslims call us people of the book. They say these Christians are people of the book. And in fact, they are so blown away at the lack of awe and the lack of reverence that us Christians would go and touch this book without first washing our hands My question to you is not do you wash your hands before you touch the book? My question to you is do you even touch the book? Do you read this book that's holy? Do you read this book that's living and powerful and active, the Word of God that's sharper than any two-edged sword to defeat any Devil and every demon that stops you from stepping into your promised land? My God, as I'm thinking about this, you know, here's the difference with Christianity. For the Muslim people They need to, they will wash their hands before they touch the book For us as Christians, we touch the book to wash our hands We touch this book to wash our hearts, we touch this book to wash our mind In fact, we touch this book to wash our entire body because the Bible says by the washing of the Word You will be clean. Anyone here grateful for the Word That washes me clean. I'm grateful for the Word of God. I want to be called a people of the book because the book Blesses my life. In Israel's context, what does consecration look like for the Israelites? Because Joshua is the Is the picture of Jesus to come. So they used to wash their garments. Some of you need not just wash your garments You need to wash your brain You need to be brainwashed because you believe too many lies from the ten spies and you believe that it's kept you out of your Promised land. Oh, just because they broke up and all men are bad. No, all men aren't bad Your family told you these lies. There are people in your life and you cannot listen to the ten spies If you listen to those ten spies

It's going to stop you from stepping into your promised land and you're going to spend 40 years wandering into a wilderness I've got too much in front of me to wander for 40 years It's going to cost you too much and take you too long if you listen to those people So some of you need to turn off the voices like CNN and some of you need to turn off Fox News You need to turn off all those negative voices get your face out of Facebook and get your face in the book in the Word Of God, which is life and life more abundantly For Israel, it was washing of garments. It was ritual purification Hebrews 12 says lay off every weight and the sin so for you it may not be a sin But God needs to separate you from certain things There may not be sins But they are weights and they're holding you down and stopping you from stepping up and you cannot stop sitting in Shittim But if you will let those things go and let God consecrate your heart Let go of the things that you're holding on to a dear life God will lift you up out of that place and into the place where there's purification Purification where there's prayer there needs to be a level of repentance to step out of this thing God I repent from thinking small. I repent from believing you can't do it. I repent God for my complaining I can repent for my grumbling in the in the wilderness I repent for wanting to go back to the way things were and God I want it I repent and I'm stepping into the promised land that you have for me. Come on Anyone promise land steppers in the house clap your hands Here's the fruit of consecration It will remove distractions from your life. If you remove the distractions from your life God and you actually watch this step up Then you can see clearly Some of you are sitting so low that you can't see what God and this is why if you want 2026 to 2026 Some of you want that in your marriage, but if you want 2026 to be harvest time then you've got to 2020 fix your eyes on Jesus. Do you know that most fatalities on the road are actually not because people are speeding. Most fatalities on the road are not because people are tired. It's actually not because people are speeding or even drink driving or taking drugs. Most fatalities happen because we have distracted drivers. They're distracted and they haven't fixed

and focus their eyes on the road. I want to tell you that most fatalities are because people are distracted or they're trying to follow directions on an android. Praise Jesus. We need to fix our eyes on Jesus. You got to align. Come on, write this down. Align your heart. Align your heart. I'm so surprised people with androids stay at History Makers Church. That just means you're a big person. No, sit back down Valerie. Sit back down. We love you. Number three, you got to repent quickly because we all fall and make mistakes. The fruit of consecration is that you realize we fall down but we... you got to get back up again. Clarifies your priorities. You're positioning yourself saying, God, I'm not going to stay where you haven't called me to stay. Amen. So number one, we got to step up. Someone say, step up. If you want to get unstuck and get step into your promise then you got to step up. Then you got to step. Number two, step out. You got to step out. Step out. Step out. Step out. Consecration looks like this. Corinthians 6 verse 17 says this, therefore I need you, I need you to come out from among them. Among who? Among the unbelievers because unbelief will keep you in a wilderness for more time than you want to stay. Separate yourselves from them says the Lord. Do not touch their filthy things and I will welcome you. My question is, what are you touching? My question is, who are you touching? You got to stop touching those things because you think you're touching them but they're touching you and the dirt and you will catch things if you touch the wrong things. Let me illustrate. Is my daughter here or did she take the babies home? She's not here. All right. Watch this. Okay. Come here Chris. Come here Chris. This is Kristen everyone. So if Kristen who's an amazing woman of God, God's trying to consecrate her and she stepped up. Now she needs to step up and here's what it looks like. Two hands. If Chris puts a foot there, bam. She's up. Oh you did well. Come on. I wasn't ready. Okay. Hop back down Chris. Okay. In order for her to come up she had to, re-consecration is saying God help me. Help me. All right. Come on. So if Christina, I mean Christine, that's his wife Christina over there. If Kristen is, I'm trying to consecrate her and lift her up but hold Kevin's hands. Hold Kevin hands. Watch this. If I'm trying to lift her up and she won't let go of that, who knows I can't lift her up. In order for me to lift her up and consecrate her, she has to let go to take her. You gotta let go for me to fully. See some of you are holding on with one hand. When God says you need to let go

because watch this. You cannot hold on to God and evil at the same time and because he's married if she was to hold on to him that would be evil. That's preaching right there in Jesus name. Come on. Can we thank our amazing team? Some of you got to consecrate yourself because you're in a relationship. You know it's not of God and someone needed to see that illustration and feel it. Joshua 3 2 says this. After three days the officers went through the camp giving orders to the people when you see the ark of the of the Lord your God. It's a covenant with God and the priest carrying it. You are to do what? You are to what? Move out. Someone say move out. You got to move out from that thing. That's the reason you're stuck because you've stepped up and received salvation from God but you are not willing to step out. God's got you out of Egypt but you won't let him get Egypt out of out of you. Move out from your positions and you've got to follow it. You cannot follow while you're still holding on to the old thing. Joshua 3 5 says Joshua told the people consecrate yourselves. Consecrate who? Yourselves. For tomorrow God will do amazing things in your life. There are so many of us who are unwilling to move out because we're stuck in a comfort zone. Can I just tell you if you do not consecrate yourself this is what's going to happen in your life. This is a picture I believe of what happens when you do not step away. This is the power of stepping away. You got those friends and you got the fire of death coming at you and everyone in your group. All smoking weed, if you don't step away, that will be you, it will destroy your life. Taking drugs, drinking, over-drinking. Every one of the girlfriends, sleep with guys, my body, my choice, I can do what I want, no, no, no. There are so many of you, you are going down this place of destruction. Everyone, you watch all the critical people, all the negative people, all get together. And can I tell you, birds of a feather flock to... You've got to be very careful. If you do not step away... And look at the power of stepping away. Just one, just one decision. And the generations, your children and your family will thank you. You made it to church today at the 1pm. You are the ones who stepped away.

You are the ones that are here. And God's going to do not just something in you, God's going to do something through you. Clap your hands if that's you in Jesus' name. This is the power of stepping away because God is teaching you not to walk by sight, but to walk by faith. This is the lesson of stepping away. Faith is not the absence of fear. Because I can imagine a Riven Jordan is very fearful when I've been sitting there for three days. I can hear the waves. I can hear it breaking the trees in a path because it's birthed the banks. I can hear it. Can you hear that? See, when faith is calling, fear is screaming. I don't know what fear has been screaming off your life, but I want to tell you what Martin Luther King Jr. said. Faith is taking the first step, even when you can't see the whole staircase. And our Father in heaven church is teaching us to walk by faith. What he's teaching you is how to move by faith. So number one, you've got to step up. Someone say you've got to step out. And then you can step through. Write this down. Number three, you've got to step through. You've got to step through. Number three. You've got to step into those scary waters because your Jericho promised land can only be accessed through your Jordan. Through your Jordan. You ask, if you're stepping into your Jordan, you're going to have to be okay with getting your feet wet. You will not cross over unless you get those feet wet because to possess what God has promised will require that you get your feet wet. I believe that we deserve a generation who are so pretty and so prissy that the little drop of water, oh, oh, water.

And we're so afraid of hard work. We're so afraid to get our feet wet because we've got our pretty and expensive shoes on. But unless you walk on water, you... Listen, you will never walk on water unless you're willing to get out the boat. And there's a lot of us who love this boat of security, of mediocrity, but you will never step onto the waters of destiny while you're sitting in the boat of security. Do you know all through creation, there's only two people who can say that they walked on water. It was Jesus and who? Peter. How did Peter walk on water? He got out the boat. And some of you got to get out the boat and start walking on the things that you have been walking over your life. You got to start to walk by faith. You cannot walk on water. Whether the winds and the waves were blowing, you can't walk on water. Any other time, it's impossible. But when Jesus has called you onto the waters, you now become a water walker by faith. And my question is, why does Peter need to walk on water? Why? Because wet feet are an indication of trust. True faith is not just believing God can allow me to walk on water. True faith is acting like he already has. Like he has already made a way. And the reason why, if you try and cross this Jordan River without Jesus, you will drown. You will drown because the presence of God had to go first. And so the reason why most people don't cross their Jordan,

they will step up. They'll get saved. They will step away for a season. But they never step through that last threshold, that very scary thing to trust again, to believe again, to serve again, to love again, to forgive again. They never step through that thing because most people don't have the faith to believe that God can redeem, restore what has been broken. And this is why I'm speaking to you as leaders, because leaders have to go first. God required more of Joshua in his generation than he did of Moses. Do you know that? Because when Moses led them through the Red Sea, all Moses had to do was what? Hold up the staff. There was no wet feet there. Everyone crossed on dry land because Moses lifted up his staff. But you fast forward to when Joshua now, after 40 years has taken him through this threshold off to the Jordan, to the Jericho, they had to, the Bible says the priest had to step first and they got their feet wet. Why? Here's the reason. Because when Moses led them out of slavery into the wilderness, they were going to stay in the wilderness for 40 years. There was no battles they had to fight. God fed them supernaturally, clothed them supernaturally. They didn't have to learn how to fight because God knew that there was such a level of slavery in them. that they had to die in the wilderness because they did not believe God and God says hey

this is on you whether you will believe what I am giving you whether you believe that Jesus truly is enough whether you believe I'm the God who can make a way where there is no way God's done his part it's our part so they had no battles to fight but Joshua as soon as they crossed that river Jordan on the other side waiting for them was a fight they had to learn how to fight they had to fight the giants they had to take down the wall of Jericho they had the battle of Ai they had battle after battle after battle because your harvest will require a fight so there's a reason why God has to make you step into the waters there's a reason why you got to get your feet wet the reason why you got to get your feet wet if you are unwilling to get your feet wet you'll never face your giant because if you can't trust that God's going to take you through the waters how will you trust that he will take down the giant that stands in front of you God is training in a generation to walk not by sight you see this river Jordan but you got to walk by faith knowing that when you step he'll stop the waters when you step into that relationship God will stop when you step in forgiveness when you step and believe by faith I am healed when you step God will stop the waters anyone believe that here this morning but most of our generation want to see the water stop and then we'll step and I'm telling you it doesn't work like that because as Christians we don't walk by sight we walk by oh I wish we left Australia and we had all the money and provision that we need to come here and start the church oh I wish that this place was packed straight away but I don't walk by sight I walk by faith I walk by faith and I've seen God do it in my life and if he did it then he will do it now God provided exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask think or imagine I didn't have sex until I was married I walked by faith believing that if I saved myself God would be faithful to his word to do exceedingly abundantly above all that I can ask think or imagine my beautiful bride isn't even here for me to tell her this but I am a living testimony that if you will step in obedience to what God has stepped and step away from those things and step through what everyone else is doing God will satisfy the desires of your heart with very good things in Jesus name amen you will not fight fight the giants in your life if you haven't learned to forge through the waters God is preparing you to fight by faith can I tell you the promised land is a prepared place the promised land is a prepared place and a prepared place requires prepared people if you put watch this if you put unprepared people in a prepared place the prepared place will start to look like the unprepared people have you ever given someone a car that they're not prepared for and looked at that car three months later the prepared place

car starts to look like the unprepared people trashy you ever seen people move into a house that they weren't prepared for they win the lotto and they weren't prepared for it the prepared place starts to look like the unprepared people and so god is preparing you for what his promises he's preparing you because wilderness wilderness babies will never survive promised land problems wilderness babies will not survive in the promised land and you know i thought it was kind of mean and unkind that god let them wander in the wilderness for 40 years and die but if you realize this that they weren't prepared for the prepared place because god is preparing a place for us and we need to be a prepared people to step into it do you get what i'm saying because if god had let these people these were like step straight into the promised land then they would have died an untimely death and died with blood on a battlefield but god in his grace allowed them to live out their years in the wilderness where he fed them and looked after me after them that is a gracious god but god is saying i don't want you to live out your years living in a place of just enough i know you've come out of not enough but there is a place of just enough that's not where you're meant to stay i've got a place of more than enough it is a promised land that god has for you but to step into your promised land you don't just step up you don't just step out you gotta step through those things that you fear through those things that are difficult because when you walk through you're not walking alone who knows that jesus is walking with you and this is why we can walk through here's the revelation we are that unprepared people and we're about to enter into a prepared place it's called harvest time so what you're seeing going on right now is god preparing a people for a prepared place god is preparing us now if you don't understand that all this happens not by our works but by god if you don't understand that this is a gift from god terence and emma if you don't understand that you didn't come here and build this church god did if you don't remember that grace is what got me here then you will try and build through your hands and your strength what God wants to do through his strength which is called a miracle if you don't understand that grace got you here then then what should have been a glide smooth becomes a grind it's a stumbling block and I know a lot of us when God created us and called us to have sweatless victories you are doing this by the sweat off your brow and if it's gonna be it's up to me you say and that is the reason that you are burning out that is the reason why you are

backing down that is the reason we have so much anxiety so much depression so much stress and so much self-loathing because if you don't understand that grace got you here you'll end up despising the very thing that you prayed for so God takes you in a promise then you God God I prayed for these kids but listen some of them are so rude they're talking back to me God I know you gave it to me but this part this one's defective take it back take it back I mean I prayed God that you would pillage hell populate heaven build your church at history makers church we want big people and big people will build a big church oh I prayed for the promise and then the people came and some of them my God God they complain they're critical send them back Satan take them did my out did my inside voice come out so you prayed for the house that house has bills you prayed for the car God gave it to you there's a car note you prayed for that wife and that husband and they wake up and their breath is funky you prayed for that thing let me tell you what God says Deuteronomy 6 history makers church the Lord your God will soon bring you into a land that he swore to give you when he made a vow to your ancestors Abraham Isaac and Jacob it is a land flowing with large prosperous cities that you did not build you gotta understand if unless the Lord builds the house the laborers build in vain that marriage he didn't build it anyway God did it if God started it he's the author and the finisher you gotta understand God's doing this thing you're gonna step into houses that will be richly stocked with goods that you did not produce you will draw from cisterns that you did not dig and you're gonna eat from vineyards and olive trees that you did not plant someone shouted harvest time the keys can come God is saying I'm gonna do this I'm gonna be houses you didn't build vineyards you didn't plant you're stepping to into a harvest time you're stepping into an overflow of the kingdom but when you get there in harvest time you better remember you didn't do this God did verse 12 warns us and says be careful that you do not forget the Lord who brought you out of Egypt God got you out of the land of slavery remember a prepared place requires a prepared people who know that God is the one who's working God did

this through you the kids that you're believing for God's gonna do it but you gotta have this consecration where you realize I didn't cause the waters to part God did all I did was be obedient to step and he stopped the waters so if you're gonna step into the promised land you're gonna see what God has for you number one you gotta step up step out step through and then finally you gotta step in someone say step in step in can I really encourage you guys I see some of you not taking notes and I love that you're engaged but last week I asked my son hey Jerry what it got what God say to you through the message he said I don't know I just remember there was like a rocket on the screen like really son can I tell you you'll forget 99% of what I say as soon as you walk through these doors because accidents are not caused by speeding drivers it's caused by distracted can I tell you when you write it down you remember you're engaging all your senses so write this down step up means to consecrate yourself stepping up let God watch it the wilderness generation complained the promised land generation consecrated number two you got to step out step out do not contaminate yourself do not contaminate your mind do not touch the unclean things touch the Word of God because the Bible says without holiness no one will see God number three is step through you got to step through in faith that these waters won't kill me waterwalkers have to get your feet wet feel the fear and do it anyway we call it not faking it till you're making it I'm saying faith it faith it until you make it through these waters you don't carry promise casually you got to carry the promise reverently as you walk through these waters carry the presence of God and lastly you got to step into consecration says I'm not entitled to the promise I'm entrusted with this promised land that I'm stepping into so here's what Joshua, it says in chapter 4, when all the people who had crossed the Jordan, where the Lord said to Joshua, number 2, verse 2, now choose 12 men, one from each tribe. Tell them to take up 12 stones. Take up 12 stones.

From the very place where the priest is standing in the middle of the Jordan, there is a wilderness over here, there is a promised land over there, and it's called Harvest Time. And in order to do it, God's saying, when you walk through these waters, I need you to take some stones where the priests have been standing in the middle of the Jordan. I need you to know that Jesus stands right here in the middle of your Jordan, between where you are and where God's called you to be. Between this place of just enough and this place called more than enough. Carry them out, pile them up at the place where you will camp tonight. So God says there's going to be rocks here, because you're not walking out on wet ground, you're walking on dry ground, okay? And God says when you do, I need you to take some rocks, and you need to carry these rocks and place them at the place in which you are going to camp tonight. I know it's only 3 rocks, but I'm puffing just from carrying these. There should be 12, imagine there's 12. And God says, place these things next to us where you will camp tonight. We will use these stones to build what? Someone shout it out. A memorial, because listen, in the future, your children, you too, that you're going to have, are going to ask you, how did God do all this? How did God keep you guys holy and healthy? Your children, your children are going to ask you. People are going to come to History Makers Church, your four daughters are going to ask, your wife, Desi, they're going to ask the question, how did this happen?

And God says, I need you to take these stones out, and it's a memorial, and here's what the memorial is. They're going to ask, what do the stones mean? Verse 7, then you can tell them, they remind us that at the Jordan River, the Jordan River stopped flowing when the ark of God's presence, His covenant with you and I went across. These stones will stand as a memorial for the people of History Makers Church forever. Here's what verse 21 says, then Joshua said to the Israelites, in the future, your children will ask. You can tell them, this is where the Israelites crossed the Jordan, not on wet ground, but on, on what? For the Lord your God dried up the river right before your eyes, and He kept it dry. You are in the middle of a miracle. You are watching the miracle in real time 4K, seeing what God can do when people say yes and make room for God. For the last four years, we've been in the middle of a miracle. God, what could you do with lives that would say yes to you? Some of you turn up every now and again, and I love that you do, but you don't just step up. You've got to step out from mediocre. You've got to step through mediocrity to step into destiny,

and you've got to keep stepping with Jesus. He did this so all the nations of the earth might know that the Lord's mighty, powerful hand, and so you might fear the Lord your God forever. Now, isn't it amazing how they got through the Red Sea? They stepped up. Stay with me. They stepped out. They stepped through. They stepped, one more time. They stepped, they stepped, they stepped, and they stepped in. As they stepped in, he said, I need you to take some stones to remember why. Remember, Joshua is the symbol. Jesus is the substance. Let me show you Jesus here. In Matthew 3, I need you to shout out the next word after I stop. It says, Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan. So Joshua was at the Jordan, and now Jesus is at the Jordan, and he went to the river not to stop and get his feet wet. The Bible says he went to be baptized by John, but John tried to talk him out of it. I'm the one who needs to be baptized by you, so why are you coming? Now, listen. John the Baptist, the Bible says that when he saw this, Jesus, he goes, hey, hey, hey, hey, guys, guys, guys, listen. This is the Lamb of God.

You know, Abraham was walking, and God was working. This is the Lamb of God slain before the foundation of the earth. This is the one we've been reading about, about to be baptized. He's the one who takes away the sins of the world, so you don't have to be the sacrifice. Jesus is that perfect Lamb that will be sacrificed. And I can picture it, that Jesus comes, and he doesn't just step in the water's ankle deep. He doesn't go knee deep, but the Bible says he goes all the way. What does the Jordan represent? Not just difficulty, but a death sentence. Isn't it amazing that Jesus... Jesus was baptized in death and the Bible says this same River Jordan they took out the stones and they placed it as a memorial and so as they're looking at Jesus getting baptized John the Baptist would have been like hey guys these stones that remind us that God dried up the sea of death so we could cross over from wilderness to promised land these stones Jesus is the living stone Jesus is this is him this is him the one we've been remembering the ones we talk about it's Jesus and the Bible says that they were able to walk across not on the wet ground but dry ground because when you walk through your Jordan you'll only get to your Jordan as you walk on the rock you stand on the rock of my salvation you stand on Jesus you've got to know when you walk through that thing Jesus is the one you're walking on Jesus is the one who is holding you up Jesus is the rock of my salvation come on can you clap your hands and thank God for sending Jesus that's why we sing so Jesus be the name Jesus be the name Jesus be the name that gets all the glory there is no other name there is no other name yes yes yes

there is no other name oh there is no other name Jesus you're worthy and the Bible says that Jesus now watch this this memorial was at a place called Gilgal so anytime they go to fight a battle they look at these memorial stones to remember that God's fighting for them but you know the beauty if you read Joshua 4 it wasn't just 12 stones they took out he actually told them to take another 12 stones and pile them up in the middle of the Jordan there is a hidden memorial in the Jordan and here's the hidden memorial that before God doesn't work through you he will do a work in you and we serve a God who actually dried up the sea and when we take these stones and put them over here we're realizing there is a God who wants to consecrate us that we can stand on the rock he is the chief cornerstone and the only way to build your life and it will build my life is realize there is a God who has gone before me Jesus is the chief cornerstone there is no other name it's not Buddha it's not Muhammad it's Jesus Jesus be the name Jesus be the name that saves be the new Jesus be the name that conquered death and the grave he is our Joshua who doesn't just lead us from wilderness into the promised land he leads us from death to life it is Jesus the rock of ages it is Jesus the rock of my salvation and this is why we sing this song that says it's Christ alone Christ alone Christ alone see in Christ Christ alone cornerstone the weak make strong weak make strong oh it's hard to cross but I'm in his love I'm standing on his love through the storm

I don't care what storm you're going through he is Lord Lord of all you better play that thing like you believe it and you better sing it like Jesus went to the grave for you Christ alone cornerstone cornerstone the weak make strong the weak make strong in the saviour's love and through the storm through the storm he is Lord he is Lord Lord of all Lord of all I'm so thankful for the love of Jesus Christ I'm so thankful for his grace you know Jesus doesn't just move us from wilderness to promised land it's an eternal one that moves us from death to life but you only get through standing on the rock unshakable unmovable rock of Jesus Christ I don't know what storm you're walking through but we all have to walk through this storm called the river Jordan it's the final transition

from death to life you can't get through on your own only Jesus and baptism is a picture of him going all the way into the waters of death he paid the price he went all the way under for three days but because he got back up again we can stand on this stone it's a memorial of what Jesus has already done God so loved the world that he gave his only son if you've never received the gift of standing on this dry ground because Jesus got his feet wet the Bible says here's how you enter into eternal life, you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth, with every eye closed and every head bowed. This is a prayer of salvation, because this is your consecration moment to take the first step to say yes to Abba Father. If you're here today and you've never accepted Jesus, I'm going to lead you in a prayer of salvation. If you want me to include you with no one looking around, every eye closed, I'm going to ask you to lift that hand up and say, yep, Terrence, I need this Jesus, would you include me in this prayer? And after three, I want you to pop that hand up if you want me to include you. One, two, three. Pop those hands up across this auditorium. I see your hand, young lady. I see your mama down the back. Yes, I see you in the middle. I see you down the back. One, two, three, four hands going up in Jesus' name. Five hands. God, thank you for your grace. Let's all say this together. Let's say, dear God, thank you for sending Jesus to find me and forgive me. Today, I repent for going my own ways.

Today, I follow you. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Make me new. I'm all yours. I'm saved in Jesus' name. Amen. And amen. Amen. Amen. Hey, heaven is celebrating and we are celebrating with you.
