The Secret of the SOWER | Pastor Terrence Mullings

The Bible says that Jesus took the bread and he, shout it, and he what? And he broke it. Can I tell you the blessing always starts with a breaking. I wanna say welcome, we're in a series called, shout it out, Vision Builders. And this has been a bit of a trilogy, a trilogy. Now how breathtaking was last week? Praise the Lord, praise the Lord. Two weeks ago, I kicked off my part of the series talking about the secret of the seed. And here's what we learned about the seed, that everything you need, God has provided in the form of a seed, a seed. Week two that I preached was that the seed needs something, the seed needs soil to be successful. I spoke about the secret of the soil, that the presence of God is the place that we were created to prosper. In his presence, we found our provision. In his presence, we find all that we need. And this week, I'm gonna be speaking to you from this thought, the secret of the sower, the secret of the sower. Because for seed to be successful, it must be sowed. The secret of the sower. Come on, touch three people around you and say the secret, the secret. Come on, touch three people. Yes, it is that church, touch, touch, touch, touch, touch.

Three people, three people, and say the secret of the sower, the secret of the sower. Father, I thank you for your presence that's here. Speak to us today, God, we ask. Let every ear be attentive to hear your voice above my voice. May your presence, God, come to your people and give us power and a fresh perspective to become all that you've created us to be. We ask this in Jesus' name and all God's people. Shout it, amen. Amen. Amen. Well, God writes his story through his word. Are you ready for the word? Here we go, Matthew chapter 14. Matthew chapter 14. This is a parable about the, it's the one story that we see in all gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. And I wanna encourage you, don't tap out, don't get distracted, don't scroll on social media, because you think you are familiar with the story because there is more to the story. There's more to the story. And we say note-takers are history-makers. So you're gonna be history-makers today and take some notes? Here we go. Starting at verse 13, chapter 14, verse 13 reads,

when Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a, shout it out, to a solitary place. When Jesus heard what had happened. My question to you is, what happened? When Jesus heard what happened? Well, in the verse before, we realized that Jesus had actually lost his cousin. He'd lost his cousin, John the Baptist, who had passed away. Jesus was sad. Jesus had some sorrow. Jesus was grieving. And I think it's very personal that the Bible shows us this aspect of Jesus, that Jesus grieves like we grieve. So if you're going through something here today, I need you to know that Jesus understands. You have a savior that's familiar with sorrow. And so you might have problems in your marriage. I need you to know that Jesus understands. You might have some problems with your kids. I need you to know that Jesus understands. Your money might be funny and your change might be strange. Jesus understands. Jesus understands. And so let's go back to the scripture. It says that when he heard what had happened, Jesus withdrew privately by boat to a solitary place. Here's what I wanna encourage you today. I'm going to preach a little bit differently.

I'm gonna do a little bit more teaching. I might preach as well. We call that treaching. And I want you to take notes because I'm just gonna pull out some points from this message. And then at the end, I'm gonna sum up everything that we went through. So why privately? Why privately? Maybe Jesus needed to withdraw to a private and solitary place because before Jesus brought healing to others, he needed the father to heal him. I wonder if Jesus is demonstrating to us that before God does a miracle through you, God will do a miracle in you. Because we know that healed people will heal people. But unfortunately, if you don't bring it and get close to Jesus, then you become a hurt person. And we know that hurt people will hurt people. So I wanna encourage you, don't rush the process. Because God will do it first in you, then he will do it through you. The sower needs to be healthy or the soil and the seed will get contaminated. Will get contaminated. And God wants to produce good fruit in your life.

He wants to do good fruit in your life. So don't rush the process. God is not pulling you back to hold you back. God is pulling you back to aim you like an arrow. so he can shoot you further, faster. God's not holding you back, he is aiming you. So before you go looking for a public platform, I wanna encourage you that God is looking to see if you've got private preparation. A lot of us, we want the public platform, but God is looking for a posture of preparation, which is where we seek him first privately before he releases us publicly. I believe that's one of the secrets here at History Makers Church. You might wonder, why is God's hand of blessing over this church? I think it's because, not just because of one 40-day fast that I went on back in October, November 2014, but it's because us, as a church, seek God every single year, in 40 days every year. Unfortunately, we can't put them all together for 40 days at one time, so we do 21 at the start of the year, and we do 21 days after summer in August, because if you'll seek God privately, he will release you publicly. This is what God does. So back to the scripture, it says this. It says, hearing of this, the crowds followed him on what? Hearing is the crowds followed him on, shout it out.

They followed him on foot to the towns. Now, they didn't come prepared with a donkey. They didn't come on a horse. They didn't come on a caravan. They came as they were, because they knew the healer was in the house, and even though he was going through his own situation, he knew that Jesus, they knew Jesus could help them in their situation, so they followed him on foot from the towns. Verse 14 says this. When Jesus landed, he saw a large crowd, and what happens when Jesus sees a large crowd like this? He had what? Compassion on them, and he did what? He healed their sick. You see, when we see a large crowd, it's very easy for us to be overwhelmed by the size of the crowd, and so we look at a large crowd and we see our insufficiency. When God looks at a large crowd, he sees God's sufficiency. Jesus sees the need, and he doesn't shrink back. When Jesus sees a need, he realized what he needs to do is find a seed to meet the need. All Jesus needs is a seed to do a great deed in our life. When Jesus was moved, and the seed was a seed called compassion, the seed of compassion. Jesus' motive is always compassion for the poor, the orphan, the widow, the alien, the sick, those who are poor and need food at Thanksgiving,

those who need help in Jamaica, those who are far from God. Jesus always sees the need and he's moved with compassion because he knows this, and we need to write these four things down. He knows that the spirit of the sovereign Lord was upon him, and I need you to leave here today knowing that you're not walking through this life alone, that the spirit of the sovereign Lord is on, say, me. Me. Me, for what reason? To bring good news to the poor. Let's pop it on the screen. Good news to the poor, and here's the good news. God is good. Someone say, God is good? All the time? And all the time? Spirit of God is upon me to bring good news. This is the good news that you can't pay for your salvation, but there's one who has already paid, his name is Jesus, that God is good news to the poor, and freedom to the captives. When you understand that Jesus Christ has paid for it all, once and for all, you understand that worthy you were, worthy you are, and worthy you will be for. Why is he worthy? Because he's pardoned for my past. He's peace for my present, and he's a promise for my tomorrow. You need to know that freedom to the captives, recovery of sight to the blind,

this is what Jesus spoke about in Luke 4.18. Nothing is impossible with God, you need to realize that you're gonna get your joy back. This is the year of Lord's favor, that means you are significant. Jesus realized that he was significant, and this is why as a church, we will always carry the father heart of God. When we see something, there's a problem, we move with the heart of God, which is always compassion. Father heart of God, we are Christ-centered. Someone say, Christ-centered. We always put Jesus at the center of our problems. When we see a problem, we invite Jesus into our problems. We are a spirit-led church, realizing that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is the same power that lives in you and me. This is who we are as a church. So we're not just a feed me church and a bless me church. No, no, we're bringing the kingdom of God that God wants to do a work in me so he can do a work through me. Let's go back to verse 15. Verse 15 says this, as evening approached, so they're out there, they're listening to Jesus, and the disciples came to him and said, this is a what, a remote place. What they were trying to say, Jesus, this is the wrong place and it's already getting late. It's not just the wrong place, it's the wrong time.

So they said to Jesus, send the crowds away so they can go to the villages and buy themselves, provide for themselves some food. This is so crazy to me. Go back to that scripture, send them away so they can go and buy themselves some food. It's crazy to me that you can be in the presence of the provider and still miss the provision. They're in the presence of Jesus and he is everything that we need. So in this place, they say there's no provision for them. Send them to another place. But when we invite Jesus into our place, when the seed finds the right soil, it will always be fruitful. And what we learned last week is that our hearts need to be good soil because when it's good soil, you won't produce bitter fruits. In his presence, there is fullness of joy. You know, when Jesus turns up, there's a reason we start our worship with praise. There's a reason why we start our service with worship because when the praise goes up, when the praise goes up, God shows up. And what used to be the territory that was the wrong ground, now this becomes holy ground. When you invite Jesus into your circumstances, what was wrong ground becomes holy ground. You know, one of the greatest

and most disgusting acts of defiance, and I would say prideful acts of the devil was this. He was walking on the earth and he goes up and he starts talking. He goes in the heavenly realms and he starts talking to God. And God says, where have you been, Satan? And he says, I've been walking to and fro on the earth and I saw your servant, Job. You know why that was such an act of defiance from the devil? Because the devil knows what God said to his people, that every place that you put your feet, I will give you as an inheritance. So you need to understand that when you put your feet on your home, when you put your feet on a place, that that place becomes holy ground. That means you are authorized to be in that territory. So when the enemy comes and walks on the territory that you have placed your feet on the solid ground, built on the rock, he is unauthorized. And what do you do with unauthorized people who walk on the territory of your family? You need to evict those people from your life and resist the devil and he will flee from you. Get off my life, get off my family, get off my mind. This is the mind of Christ. This is holy ground. This is holy ground. Verse 16 says this, then Jesus replied, they don't need to go away.

What did he say? Shout it out, what did Jesus say? You give them something to eat. Jesus didn't ask for a feast. Jesus just asked for faith. When the need looks too great, we need to lift our vision and see the God who's greater. God always gives us, write this down, an invitation for participation in the miracle. There's always an invitation. You know, when Jesus went back up to heaven, he left his book, but we can't just read the book without him, so he sent his Holy Spirit. No one else is coming to save the world. You are God's only hope. Do you know that? You are God's only hope. There's a reason why we call it the great commission because God has already done his part and he's asking us to join him to do our part. When man does the natural, write this down, when man does the natural, God does the supernatural. So Noah does the seed to build the ark and God uses it to save the world. Moses lifts up his staff and God parts the Red Sea. David takes up the rock and God aims the rock to kill Goliath. Elijah challenges the false prophets and God sends the fire from heaven. And it's the same in our life when we bring our humanity,

God unleashes divinity. Will you bring your humanity into the house so God can do more than enough? The secret of the sower is this, that when we do our part, God will do his part. Keep reading. Matthew 14, 17. You getting something from this already? Matthew 14, 17 says this. We have, they replied, here only five loaves of bread and two fish they answered. Write this down. In your hands, it's not enough. In his hands, it's more than enough. In your hands, it's not enough. In his hands, it is more than enough. Because can you imagine trying to feed everybody here with just one happy meal from one kid? Who is we? By the way, it says, We have only five loaves. Who's we? Who? It's the disciples. We only have this. Now, we need to go. Now, remember, this is the one story that's not just in one gospel, but all four gospels. So we need to now change from Matthew, and let's go to the gospel of John

to read the account from John's eyes to see who the true hero of this story is. Now, watch this. We're gonna go to John six. John six. Come on, I want everyone. I know this is a crazy trend everywhere, but we need to settle something today. I want everyone to go six. Come on, let's do it together. Six. Six, seven. Six, seven. Let's read John six, seven. You didn't do it this side. Come on, this side. Let's go six. Six, seven. Six, seven. Six, seven. Philip answered him and said it would take more than what? Half a year's wages. Can I tell you, do not inventory the need. Inventory the seed. Don't inventory the need. Inventory the seed. Watch what happens here. We need to settle this right now because there's always gonna be a battle. Watch me, watch me, watch me.

There's always gonna be a battle between six, the number of man, and seven, the number of God. Six, seven. Someone say six, seven. There's a reason we do it like this because there's always a weighing of the scales. Will I take what's in my hand, six, and will I take it and bring it into the hands of God, which is? Shout it out. Seven, seven. You need to understand six needs to move to seven. Seven is the number of God. Seven is the number of God. You know, now, DNAs, we measure in America by feet and inches, feet. You know what feet are? Literally, it's the size of an average man's foot. So we measure things based upon inches and feet. In the Bible, do you know that they measured something by the breadth of a man's hand, a man's hand? In fact, a cubit, when God was building the temple, lock in, when God was building the temple, he said, I need you to make it one cubit long. Do you know how long a cubit is? It's six handbreadths of a man. Everyone do this. Stand up like this, all right? Do you realize, watch this,

from your elbow to your fingertips is six. Try it, one, two, three, four, five, six. This is the hand of man. Now look at me. The hand of man is phenomenal. The hand of man built this auditorium. The hand of man created the air conditioning. The hand of man created the light. The hand of man can take 10 tons of metal, put it in the sky, and we can fly. The hand of man can build skyscrapers, but the hand of man is always limited when it comes to eternal purposes. And we need to make a decision whether we're gonna take six and turn it into seven. Julie started the meeting leading by saying, I can see a cloud. Jess is singing, I can see a cloud. Do you know why they were saying, I can see a cloud? Because there had been a drought for years. Because the people of God sinned and God couldn't send rain because if God sent rain on the seed of sin, then they would have birthed something that would have killed them for eternity. So God causes a drought. And then Elijah says to his prophet, hey, go to the sea, because even though there's a drought, I can see a cloud. And so the servant went once, didn't see anything. I can't see anything, Elijah.

He said, go again. He goes a second time, a third time. He went six times the number of man, but it wasn't on the sixth time that he saw the cloud, it was on the seventh time. You know, God had told the people, I'm gonna lead you into the promised land. I've got promises for your family. I've got promises for your health. I've got promises so you can end up on the praise reports. And God said, I got a land. It is the land of Jericho. It's the promised land flown with milk and honey. There is provision for you. And so he said, how are you gonna inherit this promise is I need you to walk around these walls, not once, not twice, not even six times, because when they walked around six times the number of man, the walls shook, but it wasn't until the seventh time, the number of God that the walls didn't just shake, the walls came tumbling down. Six is what you can do. Seven is what God can do. God worked on six days. He created man on the sixth day. On the seventh day, God proved himself when he rested on the seventh day. You know, Naaman, the guy had leprosy. He was sick.

And the prophet told him, go dip in the river and dip in the river, not six times, but seven, six, seven. See, you have a choice between six and seven. Seven will always get you to heaven. Seven will always get you to heaven, but you do need six because you need to take what's in your hands, six. and place it in God's hands, which is? Seven, seven, six, seven. So let's look at John 6, six. Let's look at what six says. Six says this. He asked this, what will we give them? Go back to John 6. It says John 6 says that he asked them only to test them for he already had in mind what he was going to... Jesus did this only to shout it out. Why does God test you? God tests you to prove to you that you're worthy. Would you fly in a plane that wasn't tested? This is why God tests you to show you that you've got what it takes. Six, six, six, six is the test. The seed, the tithe is the test to prove whether you will trust God. Will you take what's in your hands and put it in God's hands? You know, last week when I was saying that my wife and I are in the top 25 givers of our church and in a church of over two and a half thousand people we're in the top 1%, I wasn't saying that to brag.

I was saying that to lead. I was showing you that it wasn't just taking our home savings from Australia and giving then, it's about giving now. What I was actually saying, it was a little bit of a Holy Ghost conviction because I'm on a church salary. Julie and Zay are on a teacher's salary. She started to come on staff. She's taken a pay cut from a teacher's salary and they're still in the top 30 givers in our church. I think some of us need to rise and take six, what's in our hands and trust God and put it in the hands of not six, but seven. I needed to clarify that six is where you're gonna have just enough. Seven is more than enough. So look at verse seven. Let's go to six, seven now. Let's look at John 6, seven. Philip answered him, it would take more than half a year's wages to buy enough bread for each and every one of you to have a bite. See, man looks at the need and gets overwhelmed. God looks at the seed and realizes the need and he thinks seed. Verse eight says, another one of his disciples, Andrew, Simon, Peter, brothers spoke up.

Someone say, speak up. Speak up. Speak up. And it says, what does it say? He said, here's a boy. If only there was a boy, if only there was one person, if only there was a boy who had five loaves and two fish. Come on, we did a fish illustration last week, can we? If only there was a boy who had five loaves and two fish. What did you say? Oh, daddy, I have this. It doesn't get any sweeter than that. Come on, give Kingston a round of applause. I'm telling you, chip off the old block. Now you wonder why I got four kids. Praise the Lord. If only there was a boy who had five loaves and two fish. Five loaves and two fish. But then the question everyone's asking is how far will that go to feed all of you? I mean, just PJ at the front, he'd eat all that by himself. Just how far will it go? Let me ask you a question. How many, it's five, shout out, five what? Five loaves and? It's five what? And what does that add up to?

So we're about to invite God into the miracle because seven is the number of God. God doesn't ask you for what you have. He asks you for what you have. God doesn't ask you for what you have. God will multiply what you're willing to give. Let's go back to Matthew 14. Matthew 14 says this, bring them here, where? He says, bring them here to? Who's saying this? Jesus is saying this, bring them here to me. Take them from your hands, six, and bring them to me, seven. Take them from your hands and bring them to me. And so verse 19 goes on to say, and he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Where am I? Oh, there it is, sit down on the grass. Sientate un momento, por favor. Sientate, callate, sientate. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, now watch this, five loaves, two fish, looking up to heaven, he gave thanks, he broke the loaves, he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. Seven steps here. Let me show you this, number one, always look up to heaven. Always look up to heaven. Malachi 3.10 says, bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, bring the whole tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house.

God says, test me. He was testing them because he knew what he was about to do. When God asked. for your money, he doesn't ask for money because he needs money. He asks you for money because you need God. And how do we get God in our life? We break greed off our life where we take everything for ourself. And we say, God, I'm gonna sow into your house and sow into your purpose. And so bring all the tithe and see if I'll not open up the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much, what? Spread out so much blessing that there will not be enough room to take it. My eyes are not on six, my eyes are on seven, on heaven. Still looking up. Now watch Genesis 14, 20, another account. We're still looking up to heaven. Praise be to God most high who delivered your enemies into your hands. Now this is speaking about Abraham because God's hand was on Abraham because Abraham took six, his hand, and he allowed God to place his hand seven. So his hand, Abraham, outweighed the hand of the enemy because six was placed in the hands of seven. So what was Abraham's response when God put his hand on Abraham's hand?

The Bible says, Abram gave God, what? A tenth of everything. Always look up, always give up. We give God our first and best. How do you know who's Lord of your life? Whoever you feed first. How do you know who's Lord? Who do you feed first? So he looked up to heaven, he gave thanks. You know, Psalm 104, one of my favorite scriptures. My parents made me learn the whole of Psalm 104. And one of the things it says in Psalm 104 is enter into his gates with, and into his courts of praise, give thanks on him and bless his name. For the Lord is good and his mercy is everlasting. His truth endures to all generations, Psalm 100. See, gratitude and generosity are the doorways into his presence. So when we give, don't give with a uncheerful heart, but with a cheerful heart. Generosity, when we tithe, we're saying, I didn't do this. God, you do this, you did this. So I take my six and I place it in the hands of seven. Psalm 24, David, the earth is the Lord's and everything in it, in the world, and all who live in it, it's not mine, it's God. So I take my six and I place it in the hands of. Can I tell you, not only that, the Bible says that Jesus took the bread and he,

shout it, and he what? And he broke it. Can I tell you, the blessing always starts with a breaking. The blessing starts with a breaking. Do you know before a woman gets the blessing of a baby, her waters break. There's always a breaking before the blessing. See, your breakthrough always starts with a breaking off. A birthing starts with a breaking off the waters. So what you think is breaking you could be God trying to make you. An arrow always goes back before it goes forward. Before you can jump up, do you realize to get leverage, you have to go down before you go up. So what you think is God holding you down could be God sending you up. You don't get oil without a crushing and a pressing. So let's go back to John. John 24 says this, very truly I say you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, dies, it only remains a single seed. But if you allow that thing in your life, your own ambitions, your selfishness, I will, I will exalt myself. There was six I wills that the devil said that caused him to be kicked out of heaven. I will exalt myself. I will be like the most high. I will.

When God breaks off the I, it will reveal what's inside, which is the him. But if it dies, it will produce what? Many seeds. Multiplication is God trying to move you from a single seed. Tithing is God trying to move you from a single seed into multiplication. Because when a tithe leaves your hand six and gets into the hands of seven God's hands, miracles happen. Let's look at the miracle. Let's go back now to our scripture in verse 20. In verse 20, looking at the miracle. When they left what was in their hands, the little boy took what's in his hand six and gave it to the hands of God's seven. The Bible says in verse 20 that they, they all ate and they were what? It wasn't like they just got a little morsel or scraps. They all ate and they were. You know, some of you sing that old song. ♪ I can't get no. ♪ Yeah, all the white people knew that song. All the black people are like. The reason you can't get no satisfaction is because you're trying to do everything in the hand of man. And in the hand of six, in the hand of six. They all ate and were satisfied

and the disciples picked up what? Shout it out. Come on, everyone shout it out. They all picked up. 12 baskets of broken pieces were left. You know what's interesting? How many disciples were there? 12. The number of government is 12, 12. God is establishing something that when you take it out of your hands and place it into his hands, there will always be more than enough. God wastes not, God will always provide. But as I'm reading this story, I'm getting into this story. In fact, I heard preachers over the years talk about these 12 baskets, but there's a question that I've never heard anyone answer. I looked all through the internet. I went dark into the AI. I couldn't find the answer. And here's the question I was asking. Why did they have 12 baskets? Why were there 12 baskets there? Because they had left the place to come to a remote place. Why did they even have 12 baskets that allowed them to pick up?

Why are there not just one basket? Why are they 12, these baskets? Now the word basket that they use in this scripture is actually not, it's not this. It's not the little basket the little boy had from basket and robins. It was a basket that Paul was lowered down from the roof when the people, disciples were trying to save him because he was changing from Saul, murderer to Paul, miracle worker. This is a basket. It was big. Why did they have not one, but 12? You're gonna find out in a minute. A little in your hand stays a little. A little in God's hands becomes a lot. Verse 21 says, the number of those who ate were about how many? 5,000 men. Not even thinking of the woman or the children, which were more multiples than 5,000, but everyone ate and there was more than enough for those who participated in the miracle. Let's come back to verse 20. Verse 20 says there were 12 baskets of what? 12 baskets of broken pieces that were left over. See, God is a master chef. Now I don't know about you, but there is something about Thanksgiving meal the next day when that food has marinated.

Now you won't know what that is unless you have a mama or a papa who knows how to take what's left over and make a lot with what's left. Some of you don't like leftovers because you're too bougie like that. And so you had all that food in the fridge, but you left it there. See, God is able to use what we have left over. Sometimes the meal's better the second time around. So you want your marriage to be like it used to be. And God's saying it wasn't that good anyway. It wasn't that good anyway, because I needed to, now your marriage, God, I need you to put all the pieces back together. And God says, some of these pieces I'm not bringing back because I'm taking what's left over because I needed to let go of the selfishness. You needed to break off the pride. You needed to break off the catastrophizing. You needed to break off the selfishness. And God is the great master chef who can put your marriage back together better than before if you will let God take what is left over. God says, you give me the pieces and I'll give you the peace that surpasses all understanding that you're looking for. Would you give God what's left? God can pick up what is left.

Trust Him with the pieces. God will feed you with pieces and you think that's not enough, but the pieces that God feeds you with will bring you peace, peace. Why broken pieces, broken pieces? My marriage is broken. Can I just say, if your marriage is broken, thank God. If your children are broken, thank God. If your job's broken, thank God. If your mental health is broken, thank God because God can do a lot with broken pieces. Our Savior, until our Savior was broken on the cross, His blood wouldn't be spilt on us so we can be covered by the blood. That means a price has already been paid. We have a Savior who specializes in taking broken things and bringing blessing out of brokenness. You need to understand the blessing always starts with a breaking. Until a horse is broken in, it's no fit for the master's use. You need a fit, a horse who is submitted until Jesus was broken and His blood spilt over the ground, which represents you and I. We would never be covered. Our sins would not be atoned for unless blood was spilt because the Bible says the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through who? Jesus Christ. Because He was broken, we can be blessed.

In the breaking is the blessing. Can someone now thank God that there are broken areas of my life that I can take the six. out of my hands and place it in seven, which is the hand of God. So there was how many loaves of bread? How many? Do you know why five? Because five is the number of grace. Someone say grace. One Jesus was broken so we could have five, five. In fact, it says in Ephesians that when God ascended to heaven, he couldn't just leave us with one Jesus. The Bible says that Jesus now fills the church in such a way, verse 10, he said, when he ascended to heaven, let's look at verse 11. It says this, verse 11. He now gave, Christ gave apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. So in one God, he was so big. He was so great. Seven, God's so great that he could not be occupied just with one pastor. So History Makers Church could never be what it is with just a pastor. It can't just be Emma and I, it can't just be one, it has to be five. Someone say five.

Hold your hand up like this. Five is the pastor, the prophet, the evangelist, the teacher. Did I miss one? Apostle, watch this. Hold your hand up. Is there one finger that's bigger than the others? Yeah, it's the middle finger. The middle finger stands out from the rest because the middle finger represents the evangelist. It's the one who's sent out, goes further. It's the evangelist because it's the one who says, you better turn or burn. It's the evangelist saying, you gotta turn, give your life to Jesus, because if you don't, you'll be toast. You'll be toast. The evangelist is the sent out one. What about this one? This finger is the ring finger. You know what this represents? This represents the pastor because the pastor is married to the church. You know, Emma's about to go, we're about to leave straight after the 1130 service, go to Texas and preach there. She's preaching at a women's conference, of thousands of women. We're excited about that, but I gotta tell you, the pastor's heart says,

I can't wait to get home because this is my people. We love you. You know what this one is, this finger? This finger is the prophet because it's always pointing you back to Jesus. This is what God says. This is the way for your family. I can see a cloud and it's heavy with rain. You know what this little finger is? This is the teacher, the teacher. You know why the teacher's little finger? Because the teacher is small enough and nimble enough to get in your ear and get through all the defenses and the teaching of the word of God gets in your mind and we're saved, we're gonna renew our mind. You know why the thumb's called the apostle? Because the apostle touches every other part. So there's an apostolic anointing on us to release what's in you. And the church will never become what the church is supposed to be until we have apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. This is why you need to take the seat of your life and start to lead. We've got teachers who lead some groups. You need to step out and do what God's called you to do. So we had five loaves, you can play. We got five loaves and we got two fish, two fish.

Why two fish? Because God is a God of multiplication. Anything by multiplied by one never changes. And God said to them, be fruitful and multiply. It's not good that man should be alone. So God took Adam, put him to sleep and the blessing is in the breaking. So he broke his rib, multiplied it to create not just Adam, but Eve. See, one seed doesn't do anything unless it's broken. A zygote is the egg of a woman, it's a seed. And when the sperm comes in to the seed, it breaks the seed, one becomes two. So it divides, see God's breaking off so he can multiply. Two becomes four, four becomes eight, eight becomes 16, 16 becomes 32, 32 becomes 64, 64 becomes, that's as far as my maths go. Let's just stop there. So God is trying to multiply. Six is the number of man because God always invites participation in the miracle. And we need six to turn into seven. Here's what seven looks like. The secret of the sower is a little in your hands stays a little, but a little in God's hands becomes a lot. So when to take the seed of my life and sow it, the harvest is a girl called Samantha. So Samantha is actually our assistant. Samantha gets saved here at History Makers Church.

Never knew Jesus, just one seed. Sown financially, sown of our time, she gets saved. Friends get saved, her family, her father comes get saved. Leads our outreach. So when we do the Thanksgiving outreach, when we do the gifts at Christmas to people who need it, Samantha, because one seed when it's sown brings a harvest. Side note, she's single and ready to mingle for the Lord. Praise Jesus. One seed in my hands stays a little, but in the hands of the Lord becomes a lot. This is Kevin. Kevin co-led his first son's group. Kevin, Kevin. I think he was in another group with you, leading a son's group. So one seed sown into another seed, sows into another seed. And he now oversees three other men who are leading groups. Five of the young men in his group took the step of baptism. And now he's a coach over other groups. He serves in our worship team because one seed gets sown. A little in my hand, six, stays a little, but becomes a lot when it's sown. This is Latoya and Crispin. Latoya and Crispin. They attended their first destiny steps a year ago and their individual gifts have now found full expression.

Now she serves on the host team. He serves on the worship team. In fact, before destiny steps at his old church, he never touched that base. He comes here and he starts. It's magical and it's miraculous. Now they have a marriage group. And in fact, one couple went to their marriage group about to give up on their marriage. But if they had kept a little in their hands, it stays a little, but a little in the hands of the Lord becomes a lot, a lot. In fact, this is his daughter now playing. Can we turn the sound up for this? She says, this is her play. For this is holy ground. Put my stake in the ground. Holy, holy. I am not backing down. For this is holy ground. Put my stake in the ground. Go back to what you were playing. I know you guys are awesome. You stay wherever you want, stay where you want. So this right up here, next person, this is now Shamil. You're a gift from heaven. And can I tell you, young, God has only just begun. And I'm telling you, I feel that you are that little boy who's taking your little to the Lord. And God's about to multiply what's in your hands. And God's gonna do exceedingly, abundantly above all that you can ask, think, or imagine. There is a word in your spirit that will cause multiplication. This is Miss Agnes. I think she could be one of the most seasoned History Makers members here. We love her. Highest compliment because she loves to serve our church. She actually serving possibly right now over in History Makers Kids. Your children are now getting the word of God because a little in your hand stays a little, but in the hands of the Lord becomes a lot. She also serves on our outreach team with Sam, giving back to school supplies. The secret of the seed is that you are a seed

and you need to be sown into the house of God. The secret of the seed is that you have a seed. It's called money, time, talent. Next week, not this week, so you can breathe, we're receiving an offering over and above our regular giving because when a seed is sown, it will multiply. If it stays in your hands, it stays a little. In the hands of the Lord, it becomes a lot. Soil, you are soil. You are a sower and the success of the sower is that it summons the savior. It summons the savior. I pondered and asked myself, why were there 12 baskets? It wasn't just one, it was a second basket. It was a third basket, all different sized baskets. And they took all the bread that was broken. And why? And they picked up all these leftovers, all these leftovers, big fish, little fish, just pieces of fish, everything. Leftovers were everywhere. My question is why were there 12 baskets? And I believe they were 12 baskets available because the little boy was not the only one who brought food. The little boy was just the only one who was willing to take what he had and give it to the Lord. I'm a parent, I've got four children.

We are not going anywhere. little kids, unless mama bear packs a meal for them. And I can imagine in a crowd of 5,000 people, there was a lot of people who had food. So when Jesus goes and ask the question, you feed them, I can imagine there was a whole lot of people who had food. And he's like, he ain't talking to me, he's talking to you. And they took what they had and they hid it. The secret of the sower is that when you sow and take what's in your hands, six, and put it in the hands of the savior, he will multiply it. So the hero of the story is not the disciples. The hero of the story, it's always Jesus, I get it, but it's not Jesus in this story. It's the little boy who was willing to take what he had and give it to the Lord. God can't heal what you hide. God cannot multiply what you mismanage. When we take what's in our hands, it will stay a little. So they got fed. Those people who had those big baskets, they got fed. But the little boy summons the success and the strength of the savior when he took his little and he put it in the hands of the Lord and it was multiplied to lot. So what did we learn here today? Let me summarize the points as we close. Number one, before God does a miracle through you, he will do a miracle in you.

I'm not sure we can get those points up. Number two, God is not pulling you back like an arrow. He's aiming you forward. God always gives us an invitation for participation in the miracle. Number four, no one else is coming. You are God's only hope. Number five, when man does the natural six, God will do the supernatural seven. Six, Jesus only test us to prove we are worthy. Will your six become seven? Will your six, what is limited, go into the hands of the God who is unlimited? Number seven, bring it to Jesus. Anything you want to multiply, you have to bring it to Jesus. Number eight, give with a grateful heart because some had something to give and they kept it for themselves. And listen, their family were fed, but nothing they did will resound for eternity. And God will ask you the question when you got to heaven, what did you do with the gift that I gave you? Did you hold it all for yourself? Like 4,999 other men, but there was one boy. Will you be that one boy? Will you be that one girl, that one son and daughter who will take what's in your hands? Number nine, a breakthrough often starts with a breaking off.

The blessing is in the breaking. And 10, a little in your hands will feed you, but a little in God's hands will feed multitudes. John 6.35 says, Jesus declares, I am the bread of life. Jesus is the bread of life. You know why Jesus had to be broken? So he can be shared. This is actually talking about Jesus. And I want you to know here today, there is enough Jesus to go around for everybody. If you're here today with every eye closed and every head bowed, you've never accepted Jesus. The Bible says, if you believe in your heart and you confess with your mouth, you shall be saved. I'm gonna give you an opportunity to receive Jesus here today. And I'm gonna pray a prayer of salvation. If you want me to include you in this prayer, would you lift those hands and say, yep, I need this Jesus. Because I'm starving, I'm broken, I need Jesus, I need to get to heaven. Awesome, I see your hand, I'm so proud of you. Yes, yes, young lady, lift those hands up high. No one looking around, just lift those hands. I see the hand, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11 hands going up, awesome. You can pop those hands down. We're gonna pray a prayer. I want you to say this prayer from your heart. Say, dear Jesus, thank you for loving me and dying for me.

Today, I receive your sacrifice, the bread of life. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Today, I turn from my ways and I follow you. I am saved in Jesus' name, amen and amen and amen. Let me pray a blessing over you who prayed that prayer. Father, I thank you for every single person who has said yes to you. Father, I thank you that they carry in their spirit the bread of life. God, you are the sustenance they need. You are the strength that they need. God, I thank you that the blood of Jesus was spilt on Calvary to bring forgiveness of sins for each and every one of us. And I thank you, God, you didn't hold your greatest gift in heaven, you sent your greatest gift, Jesus, so that all, no one would perish, but all would have eternal life. And I thank you that their name and their life is sealed in heaven. Their name is written in the book of life and we thank you for it in Jesus' name and all God's people shout it, amen. Amen, hey, heaven is celebrating. We are celebrating with you, and we want to walk this journey together.
