The Eden Blueprint | Pastor Terrence Mullings
How relationships are meant to be! It goes back to the garden!
I want to tell you the blood of Jesus over the doorpost of your life will cover you from every attack and every assignment that the devil throws upon your life. I know you think you need the job. I know you think you need the person. I know you think you need the promotion. I know you think you need to go viral and then I will be complete. But complete people are people who have found their identity, their fulfillment, and their purpose in Jesus Christ. And I came here today to tell you that you're a son and daughter of the Most High God. I want to start the message with a little fun experiment. I want you to grab your phones out and grab your phones everyone. If you do have an Android you can pull it out as well. It's okay. No need to be ashamed. No shame in your game. Pull your phone out and I want you to press the button if you've got an iPhone that opens to your camera. Open your camera. Now not the video setting, the camera setting. Now this is probably the one time it's probably good to have an Android. Apparently the camera is really good. Is that true? Let's see how good it is down the back. I heard you yelling. I want you to stay on the camera setting, the photo setting. And I want you to zoom into me as close as you can get. Come on, every single person pull out your phone. Zoom in as close as you can get. All right. I'll stay still. Sorry. All right. Now how close are you? My question is, are you close enough you can see any gray hairs? Wow. I feel a little bit exposed right now. Can you see the wrinkles? All right. Keep the phones up. Don't put them down until I say. I want you to keep those phones out because I believe that what you're doing right now is a picture of how most of us do relationships. And by that I mean we love to zoom into everyone else's flaws and point out what they need to change. Now listen, you want to point out, man, if only they would change this. Keep those phones out. If only they would change this. If only she would, you know, if only he would do what I told him to do.
And I want you to do this for me now. So keep your phones there. But this time there's a little button that allows you to flip the camera around. Keep the phones up and flip the camera around. Because what you're looking at right there is the reason for most of your relationship problems. Yes, that's the reason for most of your relationship problems. It's staring you at the face. And I'm not saying it to be mean. I'm saying it to be honest. Because here's the truth. Most of us try to fix relationships. Hear me, hear me. Most of us try to fix relationships because we want to fix them. But relationships is not about fixing them. The best and healthiest relationships is about allowing God to fix you. Can I get an amen? Clap your hands in this place if you believe that's true. We've got to take a little note from the prophet Michael who said, I'm starting with the man. Or something like that. We've got to start looking into the mirror of God's Word that is, and allow him to speak to us and show us who we truly are in him. You know, today I want to speak to you about something that I've seen in the Word of God in this past week that I've never seen before. At 45 years old, it's pretty rare for me not to see things in the Word. I've never heard anyone taught on this principle that I'm going to show you. It's actually a blueprint. And in fact, last week while we were doing the Q&A, what led me to this was that there's a lot of right answers and wrong questions that were sent. By that, I mean the single people were asking this question, how do I find the person who is right for me? Is this person right for me? That's the wrong question. The question is not, is this the right person for me? But rather, am I the right person?
Am I becoming the right person? Because the truth is, the whole goal of life is to become the person that the person you're looking for would be looking for. And so married people, we started asking the wrong questions as well. We were asking questions like, how can I fix my wife? Yeah, and husbands, you come into this asking wives, how can I fix my husband? Wrong question. The question is, am I allowing God to fix me? It's got to start with me allowing God to fix me. And here's how he does it, by forming his image in me. And then by filling me with the Holy Spirit, so I can be more like Jesus. And here's the thing why this is such an easy win. Because if we become like Jesus, I've never seen someone who is unhealthy come around Jesus and stay unhealthy. Anyone who comes around Jesus, and if we're formed in his image, and Christ is shining through us, who knows the people around us get better when we get better. And that's the premise of this message. And I want to speak to you, and here's the thought and title of my message. It is the Eden. blueprint, the Eden blueprint. This is God's original design for not just okay relationships, not average relationships, but very good relationships, very good relationships. You might ask where do I get the word very good from? Well it's simple. I get very good from this thought that when God created on the first day the Bible said that God said let there be light and there was light and then the light separated the sky, the heavens, the firmament from the oceans and it was evening and morning and God said it was good, it was good. On the second day the sky was formed and he separated the waters from the waters above and below. On the third day he created the dry land and oceans appeared and on the third day
also on the land he produced vegetation and plants. There was evening and morning and God said it was, it was good. Day four he creates the Sun to govern the day and he creates the moon to govern the night but what's interesting he created the Sun on day four but on day one is when he said let there be light. So what happened on day one? God created the light of heaven which is Jesus I believe who was released on the earth and the God that shined then to create the heavens and earth is the same God who's alive today to create life and life more abundantly in your life and my life if you believe that would you clap your hands in this place if you're grateful for the light of heaven. Then day five he creates the fish to fill the sea that he had prepared in advance and he filled the sky with birds. Day six comes along and he creates the animals to occupy the earth so everything was formed and prepared for the crown of God's creation which was you and me and he made man in his image but when everything ended on day six he didn't say what he said on day one to five that it is good he saw Adam and he was alone and he said this is this is not good no this is not good this but had to do that for the Jamaicans as well this is this is not good that man is alone and I believe that that one sentence has messed up the theology of relationships for eons and generations by that I mean I think we have wrongly diagnosed the problem and so we've wrongly prescribed the solution when it comes to loneliness and human relationships track with me in Genesis 2 18 coming up on the screen the Lord God said it is not good for man to be alone I will make him a helper suitable to him so here's a misconception many of us believe that God created Eve because Adam was incomplete a lot of us think God created Eve to fix Adam so Adam was whole and complete before Eve so my question is why did God create Eve why did God create Eve for Adam it wasn't to complete Adam because Adam was already complete the truth is this God created Eve not to fix Adam but to multiply Adam that together they would be able to be fruitful and multiply take what God was doing in them forming them in his image take the beauty of the garden the cultivated garden and to spread it and multiply it all through the earth
because we've learned this all through the series and every time we do love sex and relationship that if you're a half person and you marry a half person a half multiplied by a half is a quarter someone said a whole that's fine you keep coming to history makers church you you will understand because I half times I half and watch this marriage is a multiplier it multiplies the good in you it multiplies the frustrations it multiplies the bad in you and so God has to bring two holes together write this down God did not create relationships to fix broken people God created relationships to multiply healthy people and he wants you healthy and he wants you whole and we will be that in Jesus and this is the answer to all those partners who think I need to fix you like we've got a lot of people who are trying to fix everyone and we're so focused on others when God says if you want to fix the relationship he's gonna start by allowing God to fix you I'm speaking this morning from this thought the Eden blueprint the Eden blueprint and listen this is God's original design for very good relationships because when he did this thing after he said it's not good he didn't go and say it was good no he took it another step further say this is very good very good and I believe that as I Genesis 1, and as I look through Genesis 2, I was able to identify 10 different hallmarks of a blueprint. 10 identifies in this blueprint that if we would build our relationships according to this pattern, that honestly I was hoping that I would give you all 10 today, and I won't get through all 10. In fact, I got it down to three, and then last night I'm like, no, no, I felt God say, don't go wide, go deep. Because what I'm establishing here is going to actually fix some of the brokenness, and there's a lot of brokenness in relationships. In fact, you know the stats in the world that the church sadly is mirroring what's happening in the world when it comes to divorce. Brokenness, pain in relationships, pain in parenting, and God, I believe, wants not just to put a band-aid on this. He wants to transform the whole thing from the inside out. Are you up for it here today? And so, I don't know when I'll finish this message. The whole 10 of these are hallmarks that you will see in the blueprint in the Garden of Eden, but I want to tell you it does apply to every type of relationship. I'm talking about friendships, parenting, this will help you as parents, in your work relationships with your people you work with and your bosses,
in marriage, in sexual relationships, it will help it all because it is God's original and perfect plan. Watch this. Before the snake slithered in, right, and distorted the truth. Before sin came in and deceived us and destroyed it. Before you messed it up and I messed it up. This was God's original plan, and here's what I believe. Each week that we do go through this, I want to look at what God's original blueprint was, and then I'm going to show you that even though the snake came and messed it up, Jesus came to restore it and redeem it, so we could go back to that beautiful plan that he had from the beginning of creation. Amen? All right, write this down. Another something, no take as a history makers, here's the big idea. Healthy relationships do not start with finding the right person, but they start with becoming the right person, which is more like Jesus. We become more like Jesus because Adam and Eve were created in the image of God. So, the only way to fix the relationship, and who's got a relationship that they need to fix? Whether it's with a friend, a parent, with your lonely, you just need to start a relationship, you don't even need to fix it. I believe that really does apply to all of us, and number one, the Old Testament is the Eden blueprint. The serpent comes, distorts, disrupts, destroys, Jesus comes to restore the design, and then he sends the Holy Spirit to fill us, so we can go back and fulfill what he originally planned. Amen? Which is to be whole, complete, nothing missing, nothing broken, and I think there's some people in here who have never heard anyone say that to you, that in Christ you are whole, you are complete, there's nothing broken, and there's nothing missing in you. You know, I was, as I was worshiping, I saw a lady standing by, she was by herself over there, and she was just worshiping unabandoned, and I just felt the Holy Spirit say that what you worship, you become. I think you know who I'm talking to, but who you worship, you become, and because you've chosen to worship me, every area in your life that there's been darkness, light is about to enter in Jesus' name, that the Prince of Peace is about to come and fill your world and occupy every space. Genesis 1 26 says this, then the Lord said, let us make man in our image. Who is us is the question, because if God's saying, let us make man, well who's God talking to? Jesus, and who else? And the Holy Spirit, because we serve a triune God, and I believe in the beginning of creation, we were all made in the image of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. So let's kick this off by looking at the first hallmark of a very good relationship in the eyes of God, and not the way we've been looking at it. That a very good relationship, number one, the characteristic is it's a whole. A person is a whole person and not a half person. Write that down, they are whole.
Genesis 1 27 says, God made man in his own image. We're made in the imago dei. So before Eve existed, Adam was already connected to God, and Adam was already complete in God. Now watch this, it's out of intimacy that Adam got his identity, and a lot of us are trying to get identity without intimacy. This is how intimate it got. The Bible says that, here's how man was created on the sixth day, that God looked in the very dirt, and you might have come in here feeling a little bit dirty, that God can't use me, God can't restore me, God can't redeem me. Well let's remember how he created the first Adam. He got into the dirt, and you might think I'm too dirty. I'm too damaged, look what I've done, I've made too many mistakes, but God found the dirt, He formed the dirt, He breathed and filled the dirt, and He said to that dirty thing, be fruitful and multiply. And those words and the breath of God took a dirty thing and made destiny out of the dirt. Is there anyone here grateful this morning that God can take the dirty things of my life and still use me to do great things? I'm so grateful for that. The very first human being in the Bible, Adam, his identity came out of intimacy. We've got to get intimate with the Lord. It wasn't his achievements, it wasn't his past, it wasn't his accolades, it wasn't his problems, it wasn't his pain, it wasn't politics that identified who he was. It was the fact that he had the breath of God inside of him. And then Eve comes in Genesis 2, 21, it says, so the Lord God, watch this, caused the man to fall into a what? A deep sleep, a deep sleep. Meaning that what God wants to do in your life, single people, you don't have to do it by your own strength. God is going to put you into a deep sleep. And once in a deep sleep, that's where your heart and your spirit connect with Him. And the closer you are connected with Him, watch God move on your behalf to do what you could not do in your own strength. He will give you dreams and visions about the person that He's called you. The scales will come off your eyes and you'll start to see in the spiritual realm what God sees. Because sight's what you see with your eyes open, vision's what you see with your eyes closed. So you start to see by faith and not by sight. So God places Adam to sleep, a deep sleep, and then He took one of the man's what? Ribs. Where do you get your ribs from? The bottom, the top, or the middle? The middle, from the side. And then the Lord God made a woman from the rib. Isn't that incredible that God could take one part and make something whole out of something that wasn't? This is how good our God is. And the man said, this is now bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh. What he was saying was like, she's a woman, woman, she fine,
womb man. He was whole. He recognized something else that was whole. You know it's easy, you know why broken people find each other? Because like attracts like. And so as soon as Adam woke up from that deep slumber, bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh, bone from the inside to the outside, she's just like me. She's my partner, my equal, suitable helper. So Eve came from where? Inside Adam and then she stood beside Adam. Let me show you four things that shows us about God's design for relationship. Number one, it speaks of unity. Bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh, from the inside out, bone of my bone, genetically aligned. Number two, equality. Write this down, equality, equality, equality, same nature, same value. God didn't take Adam. Now watch this, let's put up the next slide if we can guys. So number one, it speaks of partnership, partnership. Eve was not taken from Adam's head. It wasn't from the skull bone because if God took Eve from Adam's head, she would think that she was created to rule over him. God did not create Eve from Adam's feet, from his metatarsals because if God created Eve from his feet, then he would have thought he could walk all over her and lord it over her. No, no, God created Eve from Adam's side so that she could be equal a partner to him. In fact, where are the ribs? What does the ribs protect? It protects your heart. God created Eve right from Adam's heart so he could love her and care for her as an equal companion. There was partnership, there was unity, there was equality and I love this that there was purpose together. They had a shared purpose. See, a lot of people get into relationships and there's no shared purpose and their shared purpose is to pillage hell and populate heaven. Can I tell you the best place to find your partner is in church. It's serving on a team. It's like Christina and Kevin, that's where they found each other in church. Now some of you didn't find your partner in church. You can find me at the club. I mean that's where I found Pastor Emma, praise the Lord. God still does great things. God can still redeem and restore. Watch this, God can take us in the dirty places of our life, the destitute places of our life and he can make a miracle out of a mess and my wife was not a hot mess but she was hot and still is. Genesis 1, watch this, says 26, then God said let us make human beings so both of them were made in his image to be like them, to be like God. The misconception that a lot of us have, why we miss the blueprint that God established in Eden. The Eden blueprint is this, and we've said this every one of our love, sex and relationships, it's this, that most people go into relationships thinking that I'm a half and I need to find the person to complete me. And we've watched the Jerry Maguire movie, you had me at, hello.
Please don't fall for a guy and all you know is hello. Like find out about him, ask some questions. I'm going to speak about this next week that if you don't ask questions now, you'll be asking questions later. You need to find out questions about his background. How does he treat his mother? Is he kind to her? I need to see like, I won't get into that, but next week we're going to be talking about that. And so because we think we're half, we're looking for someone to you complete me. Now watch what happens if I'm a half and my partner, my wife is a half. If I'm a half and she's having a bad day and I got to complete her, I got to fill her cup, I got to love on her. If I complete her, she's complete. Whoa, look at her. She's awesome. What happened to me? I'm empty. And this is how a lot of us feel in our relationships. As parents, you pour into your children, you worry about them, you care for them, you labor, you pray for them. You got some friendships, you just pour, pour, pour, pour, and I believe that this message is for those this morning who came in here feeling like you're pouring from an empty cup. You got nothing less left to give, but here's what God says. This is not how we're supposed to do relationships. Relationships actually are meant to look a lot more like this, where you're not looking for the other person to fill you and complete you. No, no, you let God fill you from the top down, from the inside out, and now you're living from this place, watch this, where now you have a full cup. If I could illustrate it even more. Gary, run up here really quickly. Just help me do this. I thought you saw it in the last service. Run up on stage real quick, because I think it's really important that most of us think that this is too incomplete people, but would you just hold this up here like this? This is how healthy relationships should actually look, where both of you are so connected with God that when God pours into you, you can now live with the overflow. Come on baby, and you're now living. My cup's not half full. My cup's not half empty. My cup is overflowing in Jesus' name. Amen. Clap your hands. Thank you so much, Gary. This is what a healthy relationship looks like, because sometimes you're feeling weak, and they're going to pour into you, and sometimes you pour into them, but the only way that happens if you're living, where Jesus says, my cup is not half full, but my cup overflows. When two incomplete people look to each other, watch this, don't miss this, when two incomplete people are looking to each other to give them what only God can give them, they're going to be like this. They're going to fill the other person up. They'll look back at their life, and the other person's filled, but they are empty, and what happens if you keep pouring on an empty cup? There's
nothing inside of you, and this is what happens when the weight of life comes upon you. You get crushed. I don't know about you, but I just know I feel the pressure sometimes to provide for my family, to care for my four children. Some of you are single mums in here, and you're doing life on your own, and the weight and the pressure of life is crushing you. This word is for you. God has a better way. You do not have to do this on your own, and you don't have to look to someone else to fill what only Jesus has already fulfilled on the cross. Amen? Can I take it even further? The reason why we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit and filled with Jesus is, we don't just need to be filled, but we also need to be covered, because if I try to do the same thing, now let me show you this. If I, if this is not covered, when the pressure comes, all you're going to leak, and a lot of you are leaking, because people just keep drawing on you. What you actually need to do is to make sure you're not just filled, but you're also covered. Someone say covered. So now I'm squeezing this thing, and it doesn't leak, because it's covered right now, and there is something that's stopping me from leaking out. I want to tell you, the blood of Jesus over the doorpost of your life will cover you from every attack, and every assignment that the devil throws upon your life. I know you think you need the job. I know you think you need the person. I know you think you need the promotion. I know you think you need to go viral, and then I will be complete, but complete people are people who have found their identity, their fulfillment, and their purpose in Jesus Christ, and I came here today to tell you that you're a son and daughter of the Most High God. All right. who pulled on you. I don't know who squeezed you to make you feel that you are not enough. But I came here today to tell you by the Word of God that you are more than enough. You are more than a conqueror. No weapon formed against you is going to prosper. And every tongue that rises up against you, it shall be condemned. Because you're not just filled, but you are covered in Jesus' name. Can all the covered people clap your hands and thank Jesus? When two incomplete people look to each other for what only God can give, the relationship will collapse under the weight of emptiness. And God wants to fill you here today. And here's the scripture. Colossians 2.10 says, you have been made complete in your bank account. Oh, no, no. You have been made complete by the fact that you have a beautiful wife or a rich husband. No, no. You are made complete in Christ. Christ alone, cornerstone, the weak made strong in the Savior's love. You got to understand it is Jesus Christ and Christ
alone. So if you're single in the room today, let me tell you, here is your action point. You got to build your identity in Christ this way before you try to build your identity in other people. Build your identity in Christ before building a relationship. Because the girl I'm looking for, listen, if you're a half and you're looking for a whole, a whole ain't looking for a half. Men, we want the Proverbs 31 woman. But you know what the Proverbs 31 woman's looking for? A Proverbs 1 to 30 man. She wants a man who's filled with the Word and the wisdom of God. And the best way to prepare yourself for a relationship, the best way to heal a broken relationship is to allow God to fill you, heal you, and cover you. It's simpler than you think. This is the Eden blueprint that we are whole in Christ, made in the image of Christ. Stop looking to people to fulfill what only God can fill. I love it. My daughter, Hosanna, was at a party last night. And I said, hey, send me a photo. Because I'm that dad who cares. I need to know who you are with, where you are, what time you're coming home. And so I said, send me a photo. I need to see a photo. And so she sends me a photo. And I was like, that looks pretty cool. So they sent me a video, 360. I want to see the whole room. So she sends me the 360 video. And I could not be prouder as a dad. She's at this party. And I just love that her friends, it was called a Bible study bonfire. And so they're in a circle. They're studying the Bible at a 16-year-old's birthday party. I mean, that's the type of filling that we need. Because these are whole people who will find whole people filled with Jesus Christ. I love our youth. My son and the youth leaders organized a basketball game for all the young boys. So boys need competition. Boys need to get energy out. So they're doing that centered around Jesus. This is what history makers groups are like. And if you don't have yourself in a group, can I tell you, you're not covered. Because you've got no one interceding for you. You've got no one praying for you. You've got no one covering you with the Word of God. And so if you're here and you're feeling lonely and feeling crushed by life, it could be you don't have the right relationships around you. You need, first of all, that relationship with God, but you need a relationship with God's people. So don't ask for someone to complete you, ask for someone to complement you. That's what you're looking for, so they can multiply the good in you. You know, when I first met Emma, we were on different stages. And when it comes to, you know, the Bible talks about unequally yoked. We actually met working at a radio station
in Sydney, Australia. It was 104.1 Today FM, Today's Greatest Hits. And it was awesome. We were actually working in the street promotional team. It was called the Black Thunders. I had to remind Emma that I was the original Black Thunder, baby. Come on now. So we'd be driving around in these promotional vehicles, and we'd leave the radio station and go to different places across the city. So imagine like, you know, we drove to Davie or to Miramar, and we're like down here in Miramar, and we're handing out free stuff like Coca-Cola, and we're handing out, who remembers CDs? Hands up if you remember what a CD is. CDs. Okay, a few people. All right, young people, look, that's a fossil. CDs, we used to hand out CDs. We used to hand out CDs and hand out goodies to people. And so we got to know each other really well, because we were working on this team. And we spent so much time driving together, we got to know each other. But we obviously didn't know each other that well, because I remember one night, it was a Saturday night, we were about an hour away in Penrith, coming back all the way to the Sydney City Bondi Junction, and we get to the radio station. I was a keyboard player at church, and I remember someone pulled out So, I'm calling to try and organize someone to, you know, fill in. And I remember Emma wanted to get out the radio station. And so, it was back in the days where we did timesheets. And so, she'd filled out her timesheet. I was still on the phone holding her up. So, she started filling out my timesheet for me. And so, she fills in the timesheet, time in, time out. And then, she'd written my first name because that's all she knew, my first name. And so, she taps me on the shoulder and she says, hey, what's your last name? I said, my last name is Mullings, M-U-L-L-I-N-G-S. And then, I said to her, you better remember that because it'll be yours one day. CHEERING Don't hate the player, baby, hate the game.
What you saying? What you talking about? Hey. Listen, I see some people over there writing down M... No, you got to spell your own name. Don't spell my name. Come on. I ain't the player, I'm the coach, baby. I teach you young people how it's done. That's why I have four children, people. Praise the Lord. You know, when I told my wife, Emma, my last name was Mullings, Justin, just like you with Jazz, once she found out your last name was Lemma, she just wanted to do anything to become a Lemma. Same with me, same with Emma. She wanted to become a Mullings. And you know why? Because once you get the name, that everything that's mine now becomes hers. What's mine is yours. Not that I had much, to be honest. I had my old little Nissan Pulsar car and a little bit of debt. But I'm so glad that Emma, you know, didn't know too much then. Praise the Lord, she married me just like I am. Come on, anyone grateful that God... Yeah, God's good. What that's called, people, is called true love. Where she didn't marry for my money
because I didn't have any, that's love. And I tell you that story because I believe it just like that. Jesus has a name. Jesus be the name that gets all the glory. His name is Yeshua. His name is Christ. And when we take on the name Jesus Christ, what's His becomes ours. And there is a great trance for my shame and my sin for His holiness and for His salvation. I don't know about you here, but I'm so grateful for the name of Jesus Christ, which is a name that is above every other name, that He comes in and He redeems my past. He comes in and He removes my sin as far as the East is from the West. This is the good God that we serve. Is there anyone in here grateful that we serve a God who has pardoned all the mistakes of my past? He's given me peace in my presence. So I might be in a boat, a relationship storm right now. And I'm telling you, some of you came in here with some real relationships that are on the rocks. And I need you to know that if you invite Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, He has the power to still any storm in your life. I don't know what's coming against you.
I don't know what you're facing right now. You might be facing divorce, but that divorce is about to return and run into the name that is above every other name, Jesus. And He's saying, peace, be still. I'm coming against every divisive spirit that comes upon your marriage. I come against every divisive spirit that comes against your children right now. And I'm declaring over you that no weapon formed against you will prosper. And every tongue that's rising up against you, I don't know if it's a business deal right now, but God is about to silence the voice of the enemy. He's about to trash the trash talker right now. The snake's head is about to be stomped on in Jesus' name. You will rise. You will get out of this. Are any people in this place believing and grateful and thankful that the name of Jesus has conquered death, hell, and the grave? You need to believe it in Jesus' name. The Lord is my shepherd. I lack nothing. So married people, stop looking to your spouse to fulfill what only God can do. You got to allow God to fill you. And once you allow God to fill you, you can put on those love songs from 104.1 Today FM. ♪ Because all of me loves God. ♪
Y'all need to be saved in this place, listen. Because there's actually all of you now that you have to share. You're not a half person or quarter person. You're a whole person and you've got something to give. Marriage is not two halves making a whole. It's two wholes building a life. Oh, I love this. Let me give you a little mini masterclass on boundaries because healthy relationships don't start with finding the person. They start with becoming the right person. And so if I'm a whole and they're a whole, well, how do we do relationships well? What does God have for this? Here's the principle. Last week, I remember there's a lot of questions that came in and they probably fell into these three categories. Number one, when should I help someone? When should I not? When should I step back? And when does helping someone become enabling? I remember for many years, my mom stayed with dad while he would... He was a compulsive gambler, I've told the story before. But he, man, if you were in trouble, my dad would help you with money. The reason why he didn't have money, he made a lot of money,
but he'd just give it away or waste it. Like he couldn't steward money well. And many times, honestly, my sister was like, you should, this is abusive. He's not meaning to, it wasn't wickedness, it was a weakness. But she stayed. And I'm so glad she stayed, and she's glad she stayed, and he's glad she stayed, but when do you know when to walk away, when do you know when to stay? I believe the Bible helps us both in marriage and also other relationships. Let me just help some people, I hope this will help you. Last week, when we were doing the Q&A, Emma and I were on stage, it was a one o'clock service, so if you came to the 11 last week, you would've missed it. But online, it's probably got about two million views and so many comments, and it was simply this. I asked Pastor Emma to jump on my back, and I was trying to carry her, and I said, it's really hard to carry someone, and especially because if I carry her, I've got Hosanna, Jeremiah, Israel, and Kings, I've got a lot of kids to carry, it's a lot of people. And I think a lot of us are like that, and we're breaking down, and we're actually getting crushed on the pressure of life because we're carrying what we're not supposed to carry. And so I said, the goal is not to carry them,
but to care for them by leading them to Jesus who can carry them. And it's interesting, some people shot back online some good scripture, and one of the scriptures they said was actually Galatians 6.2, and here's what Galatians 6.2 says, it says, carry each other's burdens. In this way, you fulfill the law of Christ. So I'm like, was I wrong? We don't carry people? Because the scripture says, carry each other's burdens. But if you fast forward three verses in Galatians, same chapter, it says, each of you should carry their own load. So which one is it, carry or don't carry? And this is where we need the Holy Spirit, and this is where we need wisdom. But I think if you dive deeper into the original Hebrew in which the Bible was written, you'll actually understand what the Bible's saying about healthy boundaries in relationships. And I pray this would help you. Now, you've got to ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you in your specific situation. So watch this, Galatians 6.2, it says, the word burden there is actually best translated with the word baros, baros. It means a crushing weight like this. It's something a person cannot carry on their own. So some people have gone through grief.
In fact, I'm so grateful for our first responders here at History Makers Church. It's one of our teams that we have. We had one of our amazing members who's faithful. Actually, before this church started, she passed out on the ground, and immediately the first responders were there to give care and help. Come on, give our first one to the team. And you know what's interesting? So I walked in, and I've never labored over a message like I have for this, what's coming up and what's here today. I was up till four in the morning. I'd never do that. I was up till four, just like, God, where do you want to take this? So I walked in feeling a little depleted. And as soon as I walked in, our amazing host greeting team lead, Lakeisha there, was like, hey, Pastor T, someone's fallen, the ambulance is being called, they've done everything. But I could see the weight in her heart. I could see the compassion in her heart. And I said, I'm gonna pray. I'm gonna pray straight away. So here's what's interesting. I was walking over there, and then I decided, do I go? Or do I finish the final preparation? Because I know there's a lot of people
coming to hear a word from God. And I'm like, I saw her compassion. I'm like, let me pray, you got this. Let's send the other team over there. So I'm praying, and I'm checking up via text. It might feel like there was lack of compassion from me, but here's what I want to show you. When someone's in grief, we're meant to go and help. So it might be grief, it might be a tragedy, it might be a loss. And I've seen people go through things, and our church are always the first ones to respond. And the people who get the greatest response are those who have actually found themselves in a group. Because that's where care happens and relationship happens. Because when people, something happens, your group is the first one to know. There's around about 700 people in this auditorium right now. There is no way one pastor can truly know and care for all the specific needs. But watch this, God has placed gifts, talents, and abilities, and a compassion in your heart so you can care for the people that are around you. In fact, at our HQ, what mental blank? Your name, teacher? Cathy. Cat, Cat, Cat was in there. And I walked into the wrong room thinking I was walking in somewhere else
in our Historymakers headquarters. And she is leading a group with about eight other women in there. What was the book you were going through? Fervent Prayer, Warriors. And I'm like, girl, pray for me. Pray for my wife with me, praise the Lord. But I just watched them ministering to each other. I watched them finding healing and finding health and hope together. is what happens so we carry each other's burdens by carrying each other to Jesus so Jesus can fill us and so that word baros means there is a crushing weight so imagine um someone coming to carry the keyboard it's heavy and they're limping i don't just say you should be strong enough to carry it no i go and help and i think this is what happens you don't let someone carry a couch alone you help them lift it and there are moments when you do that but if all you do is carry someone's weight for me they have nothing inside of them when when the weight of life comes on it'll crush them but there is another weight you need to this has more weight than this one there is another weight in life and that's what galatian 5 is talking about now watch this that word in galatian 6 5 says that word is fortune fortune it's a personal pack it's like a cross now watch this soldiers have a pack when they go out to war it has their rations it has their armor it has their weapons and it has their assignment if someone else carried a soldier's pack he would stop being a soldier this is why there are certain things in your life like your choices come on we are the choices we make because we're born looking like our parents but we die looking like our decisions i was telling one of my kids this the other day hey listen you're born looking like me and mom you got our dna bone of our bone flesh of our flesh but you're going to die looking like your decisions do you like the decisions that you're you have been making because your life looks like the decisions that you have made and there comes a time in a parent's life you've got to teach them now listen i can try and protect them from the world all i want no no i'm not trying to protect them from the world i'm trying to prepare them for the world and sometimes you've got to let them reap the consequences of their behavior so they can grow some strength and carry
their own pack and they can grow so their choice is your character your calling so i can tell you about destiny steps or until i go blue in the face but until you go and step into that class and learn how god has wired you with gifts talents and abilities you will die with potential do you know what the richest place on earth is it's not the oil fields of saudi arabia it's not the bauxite you find in jamaica it's not saudi it's not south africa with all the big diamond fields you know what it is it's the graveyard because so many people die with potential they never fully realize and you've got to dig deep inside carry your own pack and realize god has placed something inside of me i need to steward it for myself my calling is my responsibility so there are certain things in your life where you've got to make some decisions now you can lead a horse to the water but you can't make a drink but here's what you can do you can live a life so filled with the light of heaven that they can see what it looks like to make healthy choices i have learned you can't make a horse drink i have gone with relationship counseling seen married couples i'm like just do this but there it comes a time where you got to carry your own cross your own pack and what's this you can lead a horse to the water you can't make a drink but you can salt its oats you can put so much salt on those oats they get so thirsty they got a drink from the water they got a drink from the well come on would you show them what it looks like and so the reason why i'm telling you this and i could go into a whole study where galatians 6-1 actually was talking about if someone's caught in sin here's what you do if someone's caught in sin it's actually showing don't reject them restore them we've got to be a people who are about restoration but the restoration the compassion comes with the caution you've got to be very very carefully watch yourselves unless you get tempted yourself and it's saying you've got to carry what's crushing with people like the grief etc but it also says watch this be very careful you don't get into this place of pride pride happens in relationships so often where it's like i'm the strong one you're the weak one you need to go to counseling you need to get help you need to get fixed oh be very careful once you take that high ground be very careful with that camera zoomed in on someone else and the bible talks about it you see the speck in their eye and you miss the plank in yours and what the bible is saying hey we've all got issues but you've got to examine your own actions galatians 6-4 test your own actions don't become self-righteous don't become hypocritical but do carry your own responsibility and your own burdens and what paul is trying to teach us you got to need the holy spirit to know whether because if you don't help people you become a very cold and callous christian
and that's not what god wants but you can also become a very codependent christian where everything you can't do anything on your own you become weak and the pressures of life crush you god is showing us a blueprint in eden for healthy relations If you don't go into a relationship knowing that you're a whole person in Jesus Christ, not only will you live pouring from an empty cup, but you will feel so empty that once any pressure comes upon you, you break so easily. And that's what I'm trying to get you to stop breaking. This will not break you. This will be the making of you. Once you understand that Christ in you is more than enough. I'll end the message like this. You know, the Bible talks about the first Adam. The Eden blueprint reminds us that Adam was created in the image of God. He was whole, he was complete, nothing missing, nothing broken. Do you know how whole he was? The Bible says the first Adam was put to sleep. So he lies down like this. While he's asleep, God reaches inside of him to his ribs and pulls out something so whole and so complete that a whole woman was birthed, his equal, his helper, his partner. That's the first Adam. The snake comes in, distorts the truth. Sin comes in and breaks the truth. So Jesus, who the Bible calls the second Adam, has to come to restore it. And here's what it says about Jesus in John 19. John 19.34 says, Turn those pads up, that sounds nice. It says, He was dead. That's a deep sleep. What did God do to Adam before he reached into his side?
Now watch this. Next verse. Verse 34 says, Watch the redemption of the gospel. You need to know God can redeem and restore. The first Adam slept. God opened his side and a bride came out, whole and complete. The second Adam, Jesus. Second Adam means that he's the second one born directly of God. And the second covenant is what came through Jesus. The second Adam died, he slept. Out of his side came blood and came water. When Adam saw Eve, he said, Where do you think they get blood that came out of Jesus? Blood comes out of the bone marrow. What you're seeing here, God, is not just about to show us how to do healthy relationships. God is birthing his bride. A people who are whole and complete in Jesus Christ. I don't need no person to complete me. I'm complete in Jesus Christ. I live from the overflow. I am more than enough. I do not lack any good thing when the Lord is my shepherd. And the Bible says, When God created Adam, he breathed the breath of life. God breathed one last breath. And can I tell you that one last breath, what he wants to pour into you. And some of you here, can I just tell you, you might feel like this because of the circumstances that are going on in your life. But let God touch it.
Because he's about to blow a fresh wind. And I see God restoring and redeeming all that the enemy tried to steal. God's about to restore it. And he's about to pour rivers of living water inside of you. You will be whole. You will be complete. And I'm telling you, God is restoring and redeeming here. I don't know who came in here today needing to know that out of Jesus was birthed the church. The blood covers you. When the blood was over the doorpost of the homes. When the angel of death tried to come to steal, kill and destroy. They were not able to pass by here because they were covered by the blood. I don't know who needs a covering here today. But here's what I felt in my spirit. There are relationships in this place. And you're about to give up. But God hasn't given up on you. I just want to take the next five minutes if we could just stand in this place. Please don't leave. Just five minutes because this is your moment where God is going to allow you to stand above them all. Because his name, his name is the greatest. Your name is the greatest. So here's what I'm asking you to do right now. If you are in a relationship, and Emma and I, man, I would be standing down here right now because we are feeling the weight. If you are feeling like the weight of life has been crushing your relationship, the demands of business, the demands of living in South Florida, and there has been some strains in your relationship, you might not be here with your partner. Last service, some people came down on their own, but I believe that the blood of Jesus is enough, and the rivers of refreshing are here to wash clean what God needs to wash clean. It's going to be a fresh slate. It's going to be a fresh start.
Would you come? Would you come? Come. This is your moment. This is your moment of healing in Jesus' name. Thank you, Jesus. You come. You come. You come. Thank you, Jesus. We've got our prayer team down the front with lanyards on. They're going to agree with you. Just ask them, what can I agree with you? And let's agree, and I want you guys right there to reach out your arms by faith, and I want you to pray over these people that God is about to redeem and restore what the second Adam Jesus did when he came and he died on that cross. He poured out everything that they need. His blood covers a multitude of sins, and his water, rivers of living water. When they went to the waters and they were sick, they walked into the waters and they found healing in the waters. This is living waters. This is living waters. Living waters in Jesus' name. Your name stands above them all. If there's anyone standing here on your own, I want you to look at me for a second. If you're down the front and you're standing here, but your partner for some reason, either they're not here or they're serving somewhere, I want you to look at me and hear this. The fact that God put Adam to sleep to pull out that complete partner is a testament and testimony to tell you that you're not going to have to do this on your own strength. Because you have decided to come to the Father, He is pouring out what only He can do. This is not going to be by might. This is not going to be by your convincing. This is not going to be by your wisdom, but it's going to be by my Spirit, says the Lord. And God is about to work a miracle on your behalf. Lift your hands to heaven. If you need a miracle, you might be a parent here and you are absolutely weighed down by what is going on with my children. Lift your hands in this place. I don't know what situation it is right now, but God knows the situation and there is nothing that is too hard for our God. Lift those hands to heaven. Come on, turn that electric guitar up and play something for me. It's your name, your name, your name.
Your name is on high. Worship. Spirit of torment, get out of this place. It's your name that stands above them all. Come on. All thrones and dominions, all powers and positions. Your name stands above them all. Your name is on high. Your name is the greatest, your name is Jesus. Your name, your name stands above them all. All thrones and dominions have to bow. All powers and positions. Your name, Jesus, your name, Jesus, your name. Your name is on high. Your name is on high. It's your name, oh the greatest, your name, Jesus. Oh, it stands above them all. All thrones and dominions have to bow. All powers and positions have to bow. Your name stands above them all. And the angels cry, Holy, our creation Christ. Holy, you are lifted high. Holy. Okay, there are some people in here and what you're struggling right now, it's not natural. There has been a demonic snake that has slithered up and actually bitten you and that bite can only be healed with the anti-venom and only Jesus has it and you got to let him in because you have kept him at a distance and I'm asking you today, you know what God has spoken to you and if you would do it, I believe his blood is going to be the anti-venom to every lie of the snake that has deceived you and blinded you because when that snake bites it closes your eyes, it shuts down the breathing, but there is a fresh wind, there is a fresh wind,
there is a fresh wind, Father I just come against every contrary spirit in this place, I don't know what demons and demonic forces that you have let in, but right now I ask that from the inside out, from the bone to the flesh, right now in Jesus name I release the power of Jesus Christ of Nazareth over your life, the price has been paid, the price has been paid in full, stop trying to do it on your own strength, God says let me in, let me in and let me destroy every devil and demon that has tormented you from a little child, you will sleep at night right now, you will not go to bed worrying anymore because you know if God is fighting for me, who can be against me and so right now God I break every lie of the enemy, I break the power of sin, I break shame off you right now, shame off you in Jesus name, shame off you daughter of God, shame off you son of God, you are not what was done to you, you are not the mistake you made, you are who God says you are, so you better hold your head up high kids, you step into that territory, you step back in and apologize, you step back in and say I'm sorry, you step back in and watch as you humble yourself that God is about to exalt you, let's declare the name of Jesus one more time, your name is the only name, your name is the highest, your name is the highest, your name is the greatest, your name stands above them all, all thrones and dominions, all thrones and dominions, all powers and positions, your name stands above them all, you sing one more time, your name is the highest, your name is the greatest, your name stands above them all, all thrones and dominions, all powers and positions, your name stands above them all. I'm telling you in the next seven days, before we get to next week, there are relationships that were about to sign divorce papers, you're about to rip those papers up in Jesus name, mark my words in Jesus name, there are children that are far from God and you're going to receive phone calls from them and they're like mum and dad I need to come home, I see prodigals coming home in Jesus name and here's what I see, that God has been pouring and the reason why he had to pour the overflow is because some of you have walked in here, now don't miss this, you have walked in here with so much shame and God's saying why are you carrying something that I already carried on the cross? Now listen to me, your mind just started thinking well no, you don't know what I did, you don't know what he did, it's a finished work, what he did was enough, it's enough, there is no other name that gets
the attention of the Father in heaven because when he looks at you, if you will persist in yourself under the blood of Jesus, then all the vengeance that God has to do because he's a just God has been paid by Jesus Christ, the price has been paid for Your relationship to be restored, the price has been paid for your shame to be destroyed. And if the highest place I'll reach is at your feet, then I've done it all. If the best thing that I've seen is your glory, then I've seen it all. Your love has changed my life, forever satisfied. You are my end. And if the highest place I'll reach is at your feet, then I've done it all. If the best thing that I've seen is your glory, then I've seen it all. Your love has changed my life, forever satisfied. You are my end. What a God! What a God! Oh, you're a mighty God, we saw. What a God! What a God! You're awesome! You're my music, Jesus! What a God! What a God! What a mighty, mighty, mighty, mighty God, we saw. What a God! What a God! Would you worship him as healing and roof? What a God! What a God! What a mighty God, we saw. What a God! What a God!
What a mighty God we saw! What a God! What a God! What a God! What a God! Let your kingdom come. Let your will be done. Those hands shall be broken in the name of Jesus. What a God, we saw. What a God! Because yours is the kingdom. Yours is the power. Yours is the glory forever. Yours is the kingdom. Yours is the power. Yours is the glory forever. We say yours is the kingdom. Say what? Yours is the power. Yours is the glory forever. We say yours is the kingdom. Yours is the power. Yours is the glory forever. So if you don't know what's happening right now, let me just tell you. This is you holding your cup up and saying, Jesus fill me again. Just lift those hands to heaven. Lift those hands to heaven. These are holy hands. This is you holding your cup up and saying, Jesus fill me again. We're calling on the name of Jesus.
Yeshua. Ah. Ah. Sing Yeshua. Yeshua. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah.
Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah. Yeshua means Jesus saves and salvation is in the room. Yeah. Now, Jesus doesn't save you just to get you to heaven. He saves you to also bring heaven to earth. It's a double blessing. That's how good he is. So, if you're here today, you've never met Jesus. You can feel him. I know you can sense him. He's in the room. But you cannot pour from an empty cup anymore. And Jesus does want to save you and make sure your name is written in the book of life.
That's the most important relationship. Because you can't do the other nine until you first get whole and complete in Jesus. With every eye closed and every head bowed. If you're here today, you've never met Jesus. Really simple. The Bible says, believe in your heart, confess with your mouth, and you shall be saved. This is how he created the heavens and the earth. It's not that difficult. It's simpler than you think. But here's the liar, the snake who will slither into your garden. Oh, it's going to be more than that. No, no, no. When God said, let there be light, there was light. When you say, Jesus, save me, he will save you. I'm going to lead you in a prayer of salvation. If you want me to include you in his prayer, because you've never accepted this Jesus who saves. Would you just pop the hand up? With every eye closed, every head bowed. If you want me to include you in a salvation prayer, you're giving your life to Jesus. After three, lift those hands up. One, two, three. Lift those hands up. Awesome. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. I can't see everyone in the room, but I may have missed your hand, but God sees your heart. You can pop those hands down. I want you to pray this prayer after me. Say, dear God, thank you for sending Jesus to find me and forgive me. Today, I repent for going my own ways. And today, I follow you.
Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Wash me clean. I'm a new creation. I'm saved. In Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. Hey, heaven is celebrating and we are celebrating with you. And we want to walk this journey together. So if you prayed that prayer, or you just want to know more about Jesus, follow the prompts that are on the screen right now. We are so proud of you. And honestly, God's vision for you is to see you live that better story. Epic and eternal. We say it like this, to see you holy, healthy, happy and bring in heaven to earth. And if you're watching and you want to help others find Jesus like that, you can partner with us. And together we can make that epic difference. Hey, giving details are coming up on the screen. And we just say, God's blessed you. You can be a blessing to other people as well. And hey, if you're here in the South Florida area, we'd love to see you in person. Check out the description below for times and the location where you can come to a service. We would love to see you soon. This is History Makers Church, where friends truly become family.
