Zacchaeus: Up a Tree | Bible Stories Retold
Everybody in Jericho knew his name, and nobody wanted to say it. Zacchaeus got rich collecting taxes for Rome and skimming off his own people. When Jesus came to town, the crowd wouldn’t make room, so he climbed a tree just to get a look. Jesus stopped, looked up, called him by name, and invited himself over. Before anyone made him, Zacchaeus decided to give half to the poor and pay back four times what he took. Jesus didn’t wait for him to fix his life. He came first. (Luke 19:1–10)
