Walking in Awe | Pastor Jason McKinnies | Purpose House Church
Proverbs 3:5-8 · Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
Series recap: “Week 1, the foundation — the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Week 2, the object — a holy God worthy of that reverence. Week 3, the fruit — the security, contentment, honor, and moral clarity that grow out of a life rooted there.”
I. Trust Over Self-Reliance
Proverbs 3:5-8 · Jeremiah 17:5-8 · Isaiah 55:8-9
- “You cannot walk in awe of God while simultaneously trusting your own judgment as the final word.”
- “In all your ways acknowledge Him” is a full-life instruction, not a Sunday-morning one.
- “He will direct your paths.”
II. The Whole Point of Everything
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 · Hebrews 4:13 · Deuteronomy 10:12-13
- “Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all.”
- “Part of walking in awe is remembering that our lives are lived before an audience of One who sees what nobody else does.”
- “Fear the Lord. Walk in His ways. Keep His commandments.”
III. What Walking in Awe Looks Like
Psalm 5:3 · Proverbs 16:9 · Matthew 6:6 · Psalm 139:23-24 · Philippians 4:6-7 · Joshua 24:15
- “It looks like starting your day acknowledging Him before you open your phone, rather than after.”
- “It looks like the pause before a decision where you ask, ‘am I leaning on my own understanding right now, or actually trusting Him?’”
- “It looks like integrity in the secret places.”
- “And it looks like a settled confidence that doesn't come from having it all figured out, but from trusting the One who does.”
Closing thought: “So don't just believe it. Walk in it.”
I want to thank you for joining our broadcast on the Pando App. We love you and we're praying for you. So Proverbs chapter 3, and then we'll just read a few verses. I'm going to read it out of the New King James Version, verses 5-8. And trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, and in all of your ways, acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes. Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh and strength to your bones. We're going to finish the series today called The Fear of the Lord. And then next week, October the 4th, we're going to start a new series called Jailed, but today we will finish up The Fear of the Lord, and Jailed is a series that we've been trying to teach here for three years. It's called Jezebel, Atholiah, Ichabod, and Leviathan, and how they keep you in jail. But today we're going to talk about The Fear of the Lord. And this is session 4 called Walking in the All of God. Spent three weeks trying to build something for you and in you and around you and in your heart. In week one we talked about the foundation of this being The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Week two we talked about who is worthy of your reverence, who is worthy of your fear, and that is God almighty. And last week we talked about how The Fear of the Lord produces fruit in your life. There's security, there's contentment, there is honor, and there is moral clarity when we walk in The Fear of the Lord and how those things can grow out of a life that is rooted in the fear of the Lord. So today I want to kind of land this, if you will, on a question that happens now that we know that The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. We know who is the object of our reverence and we know what the fruit is. Now how do we walk that out?
How do we live that out every day of our lives? And so we want to make sure that we're not just nodding along in amen because that's what church folks do, is they hear the Word but they don't do the Word. But how do we do the Word of the Lord? How do we fear the Lord on Monday morning? How do we fear the Lord and how we live? How do we fear the Lord in our calendar? How do we fear the Lord when nobody else is watching? How do we live in the fear and the reverence of the Lord? And I read to you one passage and then we're going to use another passage of Scripture written by Solomon to kind of sum this all up and one's proverb is written in the middle of Solomon's life and then ecclesiastic is we're going to take it from the end of his life. And so when he writes here, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding and all your ways, all your ways, acknowledge him and he shall direct your paths." Then he says, "Do not be wise in your own eyes and fear the Lord." Or when you fear the Lord you depart from evil and it will be health to your flesh and strength to your bones. Now this happens to be one of the most quoted verses in my house because this happens to be one of the favorite verses of my wife. And so she would tell me every time that we would be making a decision, anything along those lines she would quote this verse. Used to be just in the King James only now it's in seven different translations that I get that quoted to me and I'm like, "I know. Trust in the Lord." Notice it says, "Lord not Melissa, trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not into the understanding of your wife but the understanding of God." And then in all your ways acknowledge him but it directly connects to everything that we've been studying over the last three weeks.
Don't lean on your own understanding and that is only possible once you have a genuinely settled that God's understanding is higher than yours. If you don't know who the object of the fear is in your life then you think your understanding is perfect and your decisions are amazing but when you begin to fear the Lord then you start realizing that his understanding is way different than yours. So let me put it to you like this, you cannot place weight on something unless you are confident that it can hold the weight that you're putting on it. And so many times you have to understand who God is and understand how great God is and know that he is able to withstand whatever weight you put on him he can withstand you leaning on him. But if you're not confident in who he is then you won't lean on him and you'll begin to And last week, I gave you this word called miptock. And it's about the confidence, confidence in God. We took it out of Proverbs chapter 14 and verse 26. And so when you begin to lean on your own understanding, you are saying, I don't have confidence that I can trust God. I have confidence that I can trust Jason. And look where that usually gets me. Or you can say it in your own life. When you begin to lean on your own understanding, you do not have the confidence that God has ways that are higher than your ways and His thoughts are higher than your thoughts. In other words, you think you're better in control of your own life than God is. Verse seven puts it very plainly. He says, "Be not wise in your own eyes and fear the Lord." And I tell you that self-reliance, being self-reliant on yourself
and the fear of the Lord are opposites in life. When you begin to lean on your own understanding and have confidence in yourself, you are being God of your own life. We are not to lean on our own understanding. So you cannot walk in the awe and the fear of the Lord while simultaneously trusting your own judgment and your own thoughts as the final word. I believe I put this out yesterday. When you and the Bible disagree who actually has the authority in your life. You'll find out real quick who has the authority when you and the Bible disagree and that you begin to reason the word of God away with things like, well, that was for a different time, a different season, a different culture. God really didn't mean that. What you're saying is my word trumps God's word and my thoughts trump God's thoughts. And now you are at a polar opposite of who God is in your life. And so you cannot walk in the awe of God and trust in yourself. So reverent fear for the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. So reverent fear actually allows you to release the wheel in your life. You remember this carry underwood song? Jesus take the wheel. So the question would be who is holding the wheel
in the first place. If Jesus has to step in after you have tried everything else on your own, it should be Jesus has the wheel and I'm just riding along and I used to say it like this. You ever read these bumper stickers where they'd say Jesus is my co-pilot and I watched how they drove and I'm like, you in the wrong seat? (congregation laughing) By Tesla, get auto-drive. Churchill sponsor it for some of you. And so when we begin to say we can begin to release the God to take the wheel, life gets a lot simpler in our life. And let me just say like this, it's not because your judgment or your reasoning or your understanding is worthless, but your reasoning and your judgment, your decision making was never meant to be final. God should have the final word in everything. We have no problem with that when the doctor gives us a bad report. We're like, you don't have the final word. God has the final word. In fact, God has the final word on everything. He has the final say and Solomon though, is not the first one to make this kind of contrast here. Jeremiah actually puts the same choice in front of Israel generations later and he doesn't leave it abstract.
He actually gives it some real fruit on the root. Here it is, Jeremiah chapter 17 verses 5-8. Get ready, cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord, for he shall be like a shrub in the desert and shall not see when good comes, but shall inhabit the parts places in the wilderness in a salt land which is not inhabited. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose hope is in the Lord, for he shall be like a tree planted by the waters which spreads out its roots by the river and will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf will be green and it will not be anxious in the year of drought nor will cease from yielding fruit. So he says, listen, cursed is the man who trusts in flesh, who trusts what man can do. He's going to be like a shrub out in the middle of the desert who has no roots, he has nothing to anchor him, but a man who trusts in the Lord, whose fear is in the Lord, he will be like a tree that has planted that he has roots going everywhere and getting into the water and so when storms come, which one do you think is going to remain? When times get tough, which one is going to remain? The shrub or the tree, which one offers more benefit to the people around them,
the people that are just shrubs with no roots and don't even provide any shade, do they provide nothing? and has shade under it, I think I would rather be around trees than shrubs. And so we spent the entire last week standing kind of in front of this image about roots and how we grow roots deep and the shrub and the wilderness and the tree by the river aren't two different personalities. See, we're only judging it by what we see above the ground. The real difference is the root system. It's where they chose to be planted. It's where they chose to go get water. And I've seen far too many modern-day Christians who plant themselves in the desert, Monday through Saturday, then want to dig themselves up and come in on Sunday and try to plug into enough water that'll keep them through the wilderness Monday through Saturday. The church of the living God in the modern world needs to be trees that are planted by rivers of living water, not just on Sunday, but also on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday and Friday and Saturday, okay? Y'all ain't mopping, I'm dropping. So let me say it a little more plainly. A true child of God doesn't come in and worship on Sunday after having been out doing everything that a child of God should not be doing on Saturday night. You shouldn't have to walk into church hung over and addicted to something else. You should have already been in the glory of the Lord on Saturday night and when you come into the house of God on Sunday. There should be a cry in your heart like David who said, "I was glad when they said into me, let us go unto the house of the Lord." And then you need to be reminded that the house of the Lord is not just purpose house. No you're not that you are the temple of the Most High God and so you ought to be glad when God comes into your house and He stays in your house. See the different root system, one is rooted in flesh, in self-reliance, in a strength that
runs out the first time it meets a drought. The other is rooted where Jeremiah says blessing actually lives, trust in the Lord. So everything we talked about last week is never possible. You cannot have the fruit of walking in the fear of the Lord. You cannot have moral clarity being a shrub in the desert. You cannot have security being a shrub in the desert. You cannot have honor being a shrub in the desert. You cannot have contentment being a shrub in the desert. All of that comes by being planted by rivers of living water because that water produces fruit in your life but that water runs across your root. Let me ask you this, how many of you have ever watched church people lose their mind? Let me define a church person for you. They're a fair you see or a sad you see and they know the word but they just don't practice the word. They man the word, they just don't live the word. They compare themselves among themselves, at least I'm better than so and so. That's a church person. And what happens is everybody else has seen Jesus through them and they don't like it. And what the church has got to say is yet you'll know them by their fruit and they have no fruit because they got the wrong root. But we get mad when people start talking about our roots where you don't know anything and you don't know where I come from and you don't know, listen we're seeing it. We're seeing the fruit and we've been into it and it was a persimmon. If you've never had a persimmon, you should try it maybe today. Sour, it's just sour and yet God wants us to have fruit that people see and they taste and see that the Lord is good. And when we begin to lean on our own understanding, we begin to lose so much that God has to offer us. See, Solomon talked about it, Jeremiah talks about it, here's what Isaiah has to say about it.
And Isaiah 55 and verses 89, he says, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways," says the Lord, "for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." Now this is not God being like playing hide and seek about his reasoning. God's telling you the truth about a gap. As smart as you think you are, you are a drop in the ocean compared to God. As brilliant as you think you are and trying to figure all the ways out of your life, His ways are higher than your ways. And God is just telling you the truth. And what many of us say is, well, because what God said that my understanding is disqualified. No, God's not even trying to tell you that your understanding is disqualified because it's evil. Your understanding is disqualified because it's small. This is where I want to just talk for a moment to Southern Illinois. You're understanding of what God wants to do in Southern Illinois is small. The idea that churches are too big is because your understanding is too small. The idea that people can't be saved because you think something about them is because your understanding is too small. Because if you don't think that people can be healed, it's because your understanding is too small. You have brought it down to your understanding and your thoughts and your reasonings. And you have taken the equation out that with God on your side, there is nothing that can be against you. And what the modern church in Southern Illinois has done
is we have brought the reasoning down to say, what can we do? And you have eliminated God out of the entire equation. And we're content with a shrub when God wants to give us a forest. (audience clapping) I feel like some of you are like, you're so nervous today. You're wondering what I'm gonna say. I'm saying that your thoughts and your reasoning is too small. You look around this building and you look around this property and you're like, well, what else can God do? You are looking at what man can do and not what God can do. God can do exceedingly and abundantly above anything that you can ask or that you can even think. But it is according to the power that works within you, but you have reasoned the power of God down to what you can do, but the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead lives on the inside of you. And if you begin to exercise that kind of authority and power, you begin to operate in ways that only God can operate in, but you have to exercise the authority and the power through God.
Or now I'm back in Purpose House, preaching. God's telling you there's a gap between what you're believing for and what he wants to do. His desire is not to par out his spirit on Heron. His desire is to par out his spirit upon all flesh and that your sons and your daughters would be safe and that your whole house would be safe. And you're sitting around wondering how you can be safe and God said, that's your reasoning. I want to do exceedingly and abundantly above that. And we are content with a shrub and God said, I want to give you a whole forest. I want to give you all of this and if you would just trust me and lean knock under your own understanding, but in all of your ways, acknowledge me, then I will direct your path. And God has a path that is not a crooked path. It doesn't go through valleys and mountains. It said, Jesus said He would come and He would lift up the low places and bring down the high places and He would make the crooked path straight. God wants to take you directly into His promises. See, many people look at the children of Israel and they begin to compare that to their own life. See, God took them out of Egypt and He marched them around in the wilderness. That is not exactly what God did.
The people marched around the wilderness because they begin to reason and understand what they thought they could do. They begin to make up conversations that were not even had with the enemy. We are as grasshoppers in their sight. Did they ever talk to the giants? They never said a word to the giants and they come back and they begin to reason and understand and tend. Let me just say like this, just because the majority believes a report doesn't make it a truthful report. But we begin to reason. Well, 10 people said that we can't take the land and those two, I mean, Joshua and Caleb are crazy anyway. I mean, Melissa's crazy and Jason's crazy and why would we follow them when the other 10 people are saying we cannot do it? You are gonna have to trust God and not trust in man. You're gonna have to have the fear of the Lord in your life and acknowledge Him in all of your ways. Amen. That's not passive in all of your ways, acknowledge Him. That is a full life instruction every step. That's not just a Sunday morning instruction. That's every day. Your calendar, your money, your conflicts, your parenting, your scrolling. What you're looking at in all of your ways, acknowledge Him.
So let me ask you this, we are scrolling through your Twitter feed, X feed. Instagram is a bad theologian. You're hearing all kinds of stuff out there from all kinds of people sitting behind a microphone and a camera and you're taking your theology from them. You need to get on your knees and get your face in the book and say what does God have to say to me about this instead of some dude that has no idea who you are or what you're really going through. We have somebody here that every time one of our staff members would call a scripture to them. They would bring a conspiracy theory brought to them by tik-tok. Tik-tok is a bad theologian. Google is a bad theologian. Why would you trust the most liberal search engine in the world with your theology? You need to buy yourself a good concordance and you need to buy yourself a good commentary. Here's one. Do you know what the best commentary on the Bible is? The Bible. We said it during the baby dedication. Everything it says you can have, you can have, and everything it says you can be, you can be, and I hear you. I hear you a little thought right there. That sounds too much like Joe Austin. Well, does you believe the word or do you not believe the word? Does it say that you can have everything it says you can have and be everything it says you can be? Trust not in your own understanding, but in all of your ways, acknowledge him. Why would we acknowledge him? Because in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. If you trust the word, you're trusting God. If you trust God, you trust His word because He is the word, He was the word manifest in flesh. That's as quickly of a Bible study as I can teach you. So you're scrolling. Every one of those ways, your money, your calendar, your parenting, your conflict, you're scrolling. Every one of those ways is a small fork in the road, whether you're either going to learn and lean on your own understanding and acknowledge God or you're going to acknowledge yourself. And Solomon promises what's waiting on the other side of making a habit of trusting God. He will direct your paths. Let me give you a quote from Cory Timboum who said it like this. Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God. Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God, the one who is the alpha and the omega the beginning and the end, who is the author and here's the key word for us, the finisher of our faith. And then Solomon comes to this in the end of his life. He comes to the conclusion of the whole point of everything. In Ecclesiastes chapter 12, Solomon here, he wrote Proverbs, now he's writing Ecclesiastes and he spent chapters of Ecclesiastes chasing pleasure,
chasing wisdom, chasing wealth, chasing legacy, and he calls it all vanity. So then Solomon arrives at a final conclusion in the very last words of his book in Ecclesiastes. Chapter 12 verses 13 and 14. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God. Keep His commandments. For this is man's all. For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing with a good or evil. Now, man's all there. How many of you have a King James Version Bible? Yours probably renders that verse the whole duty of man. It's the whole duty of man. But the Hebrew really kind of expands on it and the new King James words it just a little differently when it says this is man's all. There's three words there in the Hebrew that are making up that little line. There is cool. And it simply means all the whole, the everything, some total. There is no word duty anywhere in the sentence Solomon actually wrote. He's not handing you one obligation among many other obligations that are now competing for your calendar. He's telling you that fearing God and keeping His commandments is your whole calendar. It's everything you're supposed to be doing. It's not just the slice of your life. It is your life. It's the fear of the Lord. It's the whole of it. It's the sum total of it is to fear the Lord. And everything else you can name your career, your family, pleasure, legacy, all those, all that must fit inside the circle of fearing the Lord. So your career, you should trust God with it. Your family, trust God with it. Where you want to seek pleasure, Legacy, trust God with it. If it doesn't fit inside the fear of the Lord, then it doesn't belong in your life. I think Logan Wilbur and put out something the other day, I would love to take that picture and blow it up. Jesus is handing somebody a cross. And they're like, yes, I would love that cross. And then the next scene is the guy sawing the end of the cross off and all of the little virtues of being a Christian, patience and love and joy and peace and faithfulness and all those things he's had, saws it all down.
And then he shows Jesus his see now, it's the size that fits my life. See, what we wanna do is we wanna fear the Lord until something doesn't fit into that. And then we're like, no, no Lord, I wanna put you over here on Sunday. But on Monday, I need you to just kind of step away and step out of that. I see the scripture that we just read there said that God's going to judge everything good or evil in your life. And then when we come to the book of Hebrews, it even adds it a little further. It says, and there is no creature hidden from his sight. But all things are naked and open to the eyes of him, to whom we must give an account. See, you're gonna stand before the Lord one day and you're gonna give an account. All things are naked and open to the eyes of him that you must give an account to. When I was a little kid before we had all these cool things that your voice recorders, now you have AI recorders, all these things, my dad, my dad was big on the fear of the Lord both ways, all in reverence and fear of the Lord. My dad would read out of the book of Revelations, we would just run to the altar, 'cause we knew how it was gonna end. We were gonna be in the fear of the Lord very quickly. But my dad would tell us as children, your subconscious mind remembers everything.
It remembers everything. Things that you think you have forgotten, they're there. And when we stand before the Lord, he's just gonna play on the subconscious mind. And many Christians love this verse about, there'll be no tears in heaven. Do you know what it actually says? And he shall wipe away the tears from their eyes. And my dad would just kinda put it in parentheses like this, meaning when you begin to realize what you have done, opportunities that you have missed. When God asks you to do something, you're gonna have tears in your eyes because there is a realization that nothing was hidden from his sight. There's no idle word that has been hidden from his sight. There is no motive hidden from his sight. There is nothing hidden from his sight. And when you stand before the Lord, and you're gonna be able to see the opportunities that you missed, the moments that you missed. Thankfully, God is gracious, and he shall wipe away the tears from her eyes and then say in her end. I'm trying to avoid as many of those moments with their tears in my eyes as possible. How do you do that? Live in the fear of the Lord. For everything is in his sight. All things are open to him,
whom we must give an account. So our lives are lived before an audience of one. How many of you love following people who have the perfect Facebook family? What they don't show you is that they threaten to beat their kids, divorce their husband to get that perfect family shot. How many of you see people who overcompensate on social media? See, they want to portray to the general public that everything is amazing. The Lego movie, everything's perfect. Everything's wonderful. Meanwhile, there's a plot to kill everybody. Everything's just wonderful. And they think that if they can convince people that they don't even know that everything is wonderful, then everything will be wonderful. Meanwhile, as they've overcompensated for their marriage on social media, their marriage is falling apart because they're performing for the wrong audience. We are performing for an audience of one, the one who sees everything in our lives. It's not meant to create paranoia. It's meant for you to live in integrity. It's the kind of integrity that doesn't change depending on who's in the room. I love to play golf and often when I usually golf with like two of the same guys and then the fourth guy is usually has no idea who I am.
And I always tell the other two guys, don't tell them what I do. Don't tell them that I'm a pastor. Don't say anything because on the first tee when they hit a bad shot, there's words that come out of their mouth. Then about, and I love it because the one guy is, I mean he's got a PhD in sarcasm. He waits till they have made a complete fool of themselves. And then he's like, "Oh, I forgot to introduce you to my pastor." And suddenly, after the seventh hole, these folks are the biggest church going folks you've ever met in your life. They know the book of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They want to talk about the book of Revelation. They're all pastor men. I go to church every week and I'm like, "Well, who were you on the first tee?" And I saw you swing at that ball four times and you only wrote down one. See, we want to impress people without impressing him. People change based on who's in the room. But what we forget to live by is like this, is that there's someone always in the room. He's always with you. Remember this verse that we often quote for comfort? "He will never leave us nor forsake us, but he will be with us." To the ends of the world, someone's always in the room. And so the New Testament just kind of pulls this all together. And he's like, "I'm always with you. I'm going to be there." Now, even before Solomon wrote this, Moses even told an entire generation the same exact thing standing at the edge of a promise. And he says in the Deuteronomy chapter 10, he says, "And now Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? But to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways. And to love him.
To serve the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul. And to keep the commandments of the Lord and his statutes which I command you today for your good. Fear the Lord. Walk in his ways. Keep his commandments." That's what Moses was saying centuries before Solomon was even born. He's describing the exact same thing saying, "Listen, Solomon's going to end at this. Solomon, you wouldn't even have to go through all this trouble in your life if you'd have just listened to Moses." Jeremiah would have said, "You all wouldn't have had to go through this if you'd have just listened to Solomon." And now we preachers are going to say, "You wouldn't have to go through all this trouble in your life if you'd have just listened to the pastor." If you'd have just listened to Isaiah and Jeremiah, and if you'd have listened to Moses and be like, "Oh, we don't want to listen to those guys." Those are Old Testament guys and Old Testament is not applicable today. I'm glad you said that because Jesus even quoted this when he said, "Your whole duty is to love the Lord thy God with all of your heart, your mind, your soul, and your strength." Is that New Testament enough for the modern church? Or are we only going to say, "We don't want to believe the words in red." Well, those were words in red. Jesus said, "You're to serve the Lord your God with all of your heart, all of your mind, all of your soul, and all of your strength." Even further when they begin to ask him, he said, "Well, what's the duty of the man?" And he said, "Well, upon these two laws hangs all the law that you love the Lord your God and that you would love your neighbor as yourself." And people say, "I want to do the will of God. I want to be in the will of God. I want to know what my purpose is." Your purpose is to love the Lord your God with all of your heart, all of your mind, all of your soul, all of your strength. And I want to teach you some Hebrew and Greek right now. Do you know what the word "all" means in Hebrew? Do you know what it means in Greek? Do you know what it means in southern Illinois slang? Oh, it means, oh, it doesn't mean I get to part in parcel out what I want to serve the Lord in and how I want to serve the Lord. No, it means that everything you've got, you're giving it over to God. When you walk in the fear of the Lord, when you get up in the morning before you scroll face, you're like, "Lord, direct my steps." When you go to work in the morning and you've got that weird person at the office and you want to throw, punch him on Thursday, you're like, "Lord, you need to save my mind and you need to save my soul and my spirit
and let my fruit be one that they taste and see that the Lord is good." And I know it's funny, but many of us would say, "Well, I was born through the kingdom, but I was born on the south side of the kingdom." No, there is no south side, north side, east side, west side of the kingdom. There is the kingdom. By the way, Jesus said that in Matthew chapter 22, verse 37, so I would ask Purpose House, what does the Lord your God require of you? What is God asking of you? He's asking you to fear the Lord, walk in His ways and to love Him and to serve the Lord your God with all of your heart, all of your mind, all of your soul, and if you'll do that, God will direct your paths. This is why this almost could say it like this. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. Before I take a step is that where God wants me to go. Before I type that, is that what God wants me to type? Before I believe that, is that what God wants me to believe. One thing about using the Bible as the best commentary on the Bible is that God never contradicts Himself. His ways are higher than our ways for sure. His thoughts are way higher than our thoughts, but if you will allow God to direct your path and you allow God to order your steps, you'll wind up in the right place at the right time at the right word and with the right knowledge. And may I tell you this, whatever door God opens for you, no man and no enemy can close it. So when God has you on a path, trust that God's timing is perfect.
Far too many of us are looking for a shortcut down the hallway and we're outdoors in trouble that we shouldn't even have to go through because we're trying to trust God just not as timing, but to trust God in all of your ways is to also trust the timing of God in your life with every headbound and with every eye closed. Lord, I would pray that the last four weeks would find a deep rooted place in every life and in every heart. May we fear you, walk in all of you every day of our life. May every decision we do may be filtered through does this honor you. May the words of our heart, the words of our mouth and the meditations of our heart, may they be pleasing and acceptable Lord in your sight. I would pray God that this people would believe the report of the Lord, that we would never be satisfied with desert living, desert blessing, but Lord, that we would taste and see that you are good, your blessings are bountiful and all of your promises are yes and they are a man in our life. I pray that we would be a people who would walk in the fear of the Lord. We would walk in all of your presence, that we would see you high and lifted up and that your glory fills the temple, that we would see you truly as Isaiah saw you when Josiah died,
that we would see you Lord in such a way that we would say, "Whoa is me, I am undone." And then Lord, that you would take a coal from the altar and you would cleanse our lips. And then Lord, maybe we would be willing to serve you with all of our heart, all of our mind, all of our soul and all of our strength. I pray Lord for those of us in Southern Illinois, that we would no longer limit you as the people did in Psalm 78. We would no longer limit you to what you have done. We would no longer limit you based on our experiences. We would no longer limit you based on what we think can be done. But that Lord, as we walk in the fear and the admonition of the Holy Spirit, we would take the limits off of you, God. And we would truly say, not our will, but thy be done. I pray God that you would begin to pour your spirit out upon all flesh. And that our sons and our daughters, they would dream dreams and they would prophesy. I pray that this would be the wick of revival that changes America right here in Southern Illinois. of this state. I pray for the poverty number to be erased. I pray for every abortion clinic to be closed. I pray for every person who is addicted to drugs to be set free and living in the glory of the Lord.
I pray, Lord, that our governor would become a messianic Jew, that he would believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah and that he would give his life to you and he would be radically changed from the inside out. I pray, God, that every person in his cabinet, even those that are confused about who they are, that there would be moral clarity that would come to their lives, Lord, and that they would focus on the good of our state and not promoting their self-interest. I pray, God, that such a revival would move through this state, that this would be a landmark monumental move of the Holy Spirit and fire that would eradicate sin, disease, and sickness and the power of God would be on display in every alley, every street, on every interstate, up and down the state of Illinois. Even Chicago, Lord, would have a mighty move of the Holy Spirit and all of its past sins would be erased and they would live in the glory of the Lord. Lord, we no longer desire a shrub experience. We want the whole forest. We want everybody being trees that are planted by rivers of living water. And Lord, we want to be active participants in it. We want to be living in the fear and all the Lord in every area of our life. And we ask this in the name that is about every name, the name of Jesus. And all of God's people said, "Do you know what you just said? Let it be so and let it be done in Jesus' name." Would you stab me across the building? My prayer teams would come. This moment here, if you have a need over any area of your life, however that is represented in your life, physical need, a spiritual need, however that is represented in your life, our
