Rich in Marriage
Chad Galbreath continues our Get Rich or Die Trying series with a powerful message about investing in the marriage God has given us. Instead of viewing marriage as a constant battle, burden, or something we simply have to endure, what if we began to see it as something valuable—something worth investing in, protecting, and building for generations to come?
but my name is Chad. It is an honor and a privilege to be with you this morning. Pastors Justin and Pastor Alicia. They're not here, they will be back next week. But one of the things I love about our pastors is they're building a church. They're building a room that doesn't only work just because they're in it. But they're building a room that is focused on loving, living and leading like Jesus. They're building a room where we gather together focused on worshiping God and encouraging and equipping each other. And so I'm excited for them to be back next week. But can we take a moment and just thank our pastors for saying yes and creating a space where all of us can gather together and grow in our faith. All right church, if you call Legacy home, you know we're gonna take a moment. We're gonna declare Ephesians 4-1. This is our verse for the year. And so I wanna hear everybody, if you're online, make it so people can hear you. If you're in the overflow, don't be shy. We're excited you're here. Let's say this with some courage and some confidence in Ephesians 4 verse 1. Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling
for you have been called by God. I love that you have been called by God. All right, you guys gotta stand for a little bit longer. I gotta stand up here the whole time. So I don't wanna hear it. We're gonna read Ephesians chapter five. We're gonna continue this series. Get rich or die trying. Get rich or die trying. My wife and I, we lead an organization called Hope Relentless and we work with marriages. And so we help couples learn how to communicate and connect. And so part of what I'm gonna look at today is this idea of rich in marriage. Raise your hand here if you're married. Let me see the hands. All right, there we go. I don't know why this single people see more excited for the married folks than the married folks. My goodness, I got some work to do today. All right, just so I can tell the context. Raise your hand if you're not married. There we go, okay, okay. So here's the deal. Even though I'm gonna be using some illustrations about marriage, it's a mindset. So we're gonna be looking at the Word of God and understanding biblical principles that allow us to walk in the fullness of everything that God has for you and I.
And the reality is, marriage often reveals what's already inside. It reveals what's already inside. So we're gonna step back and we're gonna look at what is it that God has in store for us. So let's look at Ephesians chapter five and then I can let you guys sit down. So starting in verse 21, says, "And further, submit to one another "out of reverence for Christ for wives." This means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the savior of his body, the church. As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands and everything. For husbands, this means love your wives. Just as Christ loved the church, he gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean and washed by the cleansing of God's word. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church, without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without full. In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it. Just as Christ cares for the church and we are members of his body.
As the scriptures say, a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife and the two are united into one. This is a great mystery but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one. So again, I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself and the wife must respect her husband. You guys can go ahead and take a seat. This is the first time in my life ever. I've ever taught somebody a game in this little, you know. I don't know what to do with this. I'm just gonna put this over here. [BLANK_AUDIO] We join your faith with me as we pray one more time, and Heavenly Father, I thank you. God, I thank you for every single person that is in this room, every single person that is in our overflow, every single person that is online. God, I know that you are good, and you are faithful. And God, I know that you care deeply about your sons and your daughters. And God, my prayers, that you use this message to bring you glory and to bring you honor, that you use this message to encourage and to equip and to empower my brothers and sisters to live for you and to make a difference in our communities. God, we love you. And we say this in Jesus' name, amen, amen. So last week, Pastor Justin introduced this series, Get Rich or Die Trying, and we looked at a couple definitions
that I wanna revisit together as we get started. So the first one is Rich, and it means having a large amount of money, valuable property, or an abundance supply of something useful. So this is often what we think of when we hear that word, Rich, in abundance, in increase, right? This is oftentimes within our culture, this is what we can be focused on. Accumulating riches, accumulating in abundance of different things, but then Pastor Justin talked about, well, what does it mean to be Kingdom Rich? The Bible says that we are in this world, but not of this world. So there are plenty of areas in our life where we should look and operate and act differently than people who don't know Jesus. And so Kingdom Rich is having a large amount of righteousness, peace, joy, and being filled with the Holy Spirit. Having a large amount of righteousness, peace, joy, and being filled with the Holy Spirit. I need two volunteers. You've been beckoned by Shanti. Yeah, come on up, come on up. We got, yeah, we got stairs for you. Let's give 'em some love, let's give 'em. (congregation applauding) You show up to church, the next thing you know, you're brought up in front of everybody. Hey, no pressure, but I think Angelica said
there's like a thousand people online. So, you know, it's not just the room, it's actually bigger than that moment. So, okay. So, I need each of you to pick up the rope. Yeah, go for it. So, I'm gonna give you guys kind of the standards, and then I'm gonna say go, all right? So, here's the dynamic. Behind you, see those tables? There's a gift card on each table. Here's the only rules. The rope can't touch the ground, okay? You have 20 seconds or less. If you get the gift card, you get to keep it. Are we ready? Ready, set, go. (audience laughing) There we go, well done. You guys can just drop the rope. You guys get to keep the gift card. Thank you. Thank you for participating. That almost got dirty late, right there. Did you guys see that? Who is like me and was like, that was church-nice tug of war. Like, who wanted to see the real thing, right? Can Keller wanted to see the real thing?
And so, here's the interesting dynamic. When you and I show up in life, we're oftentimes showing up with assumptions and perceptions and context that doesn't always fit the situation. What does this look like to everybody? Took a war, right? But notice when I brought them up, I never said only one person could win. There's only three parts. You have 20 seconds. The rope can't touch the ground. And if you get the gift card, it's yours. Sometimes we enter spaces with competition. We enter spaces thinking, There's a couple outcomes that were available. Thankfully, we're almost running out of time there. And the rope almost touched the ground. Thankfully, they both won. So that's one outcome. Both people can win. Both people in this situation got the gift card. Another outcome is nobody wins. Both people are tugging on the rope and nobody reaches the gift card. Or you drop the rope so nobody wins, right? Or one person could have won. One person could have dragged the rope and won. And then the game's over. If we're not careful, it's easy for you and I to approach life with this either or type of mentality.
Early on in my marriage, Sarah Gell and I, we met at UCLA. I ran track, she played soccer. Man, where did that USC hoodie go? It was like mocking me earlier. She wasn't in the back. She was up here, I was trying to worship. There's a USC hoodie, right? You can either love God and go to UCLA or you cannot. And cheer for it, right? We used to compete making the bet. In our early 20s, making the bet. And we'd throw the pillow, we'd whatever, right? And it was kind of fun and games in that moment. But guess what? There are other areas in our marriage where it wasn't fun and games. Where we were showing up consistently, either one of us wins, which often meant one of us lost. And so if we're gonna be kingdom rich, we need to adjust our mindset away from an either or and into a both and, both and. How do we win and how do we create a space where other people in our life are also positioned to win? And so I wonder for you, what does that look like? If you're married, where in your marriage are you creating either or scenarios? Either she gets her way or he gets his way. Either she continues to hustle and grind and support and serve or he continues to take the weight
and the burden and the responsibility. Where's the both and? How do you find the both and? If you're single, where are you creating either or scenarios for yourself? Either I pursue my career or I follow God. Either I'm connected and loved to this person or. And so part of kingdom rich is opening our minds up to both and either or creates limiting options. Both and allows us to tap into creativity. It allows us to tap into that in the presence of God there is more than enough. In Ephesians 3 it says God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we could ever ask or imagine. God is inviting you and I into a both and type of mentality. When we enter rooms and we're thinking how do we contribute? How do we make a difference? How do I lean in and support other people? It completely changes the environment. And so my question for you, where are you picking up the rope and tugging? Where are you picking up the rope and pulling? Are there areas in your life where you are stuck either or? When my wife and I are coaching couples we often look at Ephesians chapter five, the portion that we read together. And I want to look at a moment because oftentimes we'll have them read it and then in the next session we'll, hey, what stood out to you? And they'll both take a chance to share.
And this isn't always true. But more often than not in our own humanity when we are feeling overwhelmed or when we are feeling stressed or we are feeling discouraged or we are not feeling seen our mind naturally thinks about what our partner could do differently for our benefit. But think about the challenge. A husband and wife walk into a room and they both pick up the rope and they both start to pull of what they want from the other person. So oftentimes I'll ask them, hey, what stood out to you out of Ephesians chapter five? And more often than not, the husband puffed out his chest with a lot of confidence. Says, you know what, Chad, I really liked verses 22 through 24. I'm like, really read it to me, what's it say? It's like, well, for wives, this means submit to your husband's as to the Lord. For a husband He is the savior of his body, the church, as the church submits to Christ, so you, wives, should submit to your husbands and everything. And there'll be a level of confidence and false safety in the room where he thinks the solution to the gap in my marriage is my wife learning to submit. It is my wife learning to support. It is my wife learning to value my voice. And then the wife, I ask her, what stood out to you?
And more often than not, she goes to Ephesians chapter 25 where it says for husbands, this means love your wives just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her. I believe that the word of God, it says that it is a lamp unto our feet. What that means is in difficult times and dark times and times where we're not sure what to do. The word of God is meant to put a lamp just enough so we can take one step and then that lamp goes out and we can take one step and then that lamp goes out. And so we always have clarity and confidence and courage that we are not in that situation on our own but God is with us and he is leading us and he is guiding us. One of the biggest challenges though, when we get into an either or mindset we cherry pick which part of the lamp we want to focus on. And so a husband looks to his wife and wants to talk about Ephesians out of the, or submission out of the authority of Ephesians. And a wife wants to use the lamp to highlight giving his life as Christ did for the church. Knowing that a majority of you in here aren't married. What does that look like for you? Are there areas where you're cherry picking different parts of scripture or are there areas where you are making the solution, the action of somebody else? Either or.
We want to find ourselves into the both ends but the question is how? How do we do that? I'll consistently ask a husband and a wife when they're a difficult situation. When they inevitably share the details, all the ways that their spouse isn't acting right and then they take turns and you can just feel the atmosphere in the room just go down and then ask what does the both and look like? How do we work together as teammates instead of opponents? And this is one of the things the enemy often tries to get us to do regardless of whether we're married or single. We want to start looking at people as others. Us versus them. In the kingdom of God, it's both and. We are all sons and daughters of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. And so I want to back up because this portion of scripture that I read to you guys versus 21 through 33 is describing the what? Wives, what are you to do? Submit to your husband as to the Lord. Husbands, what are you to do? Love your wives, love your wife, single. Single wife. As Christ loved the church. But what's interesting is in our Bibles, oftentimes they've created these subheadings
that break up the chapter into different sections. But many times the original manuscripts didn't have that. It was a continuous thought. And so one of the things that is so important as we're growing in our faith is to be learning and growing our appetite for the word of God so that we can have context for what was God actually trying to share. And so I want to back up to verse 15. So Ephesians 5 verse 15. I don't want to read from here to 21 because here is where we get the how. So we've got the what? Now, the how. How do we actually show up in a both and environment? How do we submit? How do we serve? How do we lead? How do we prefer one another? And verse 15. So be careful how you live. Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. three don'ts and now he makes a transition. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit. Here is the moment we are actually getting the how. How do we live lives? The both and we are filled with the Holy Spirit. Before we can ever do the what, we have to be connected to the who, to Jesus. Before we put a burden on our spouse or on our neighbors or on our coworkers or on our friends,
it's the who we need to be connected to the Holy Spirit. And here are four things that are a natural byproduct when we are connected to the Holy Spirit. Singing Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, making music to the Lord in your hearts and give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. And further, verse 21, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. And so here's the game changer. Verse 21 is the final thought of what came before. If we just jump in and we completely skip it, we will miss the how. We will miss the power that actually equips you and I to love people well. If you're married to love your spouse well. What's interesting is in verse 22, the verb, the word submit, doesn't actually exist in the old manuscripts. And so the original just says, wives to your own husbands as to the Lord. Because it's the full context of what Paul is talking about. When we are in relationship with Jesus, that is what actually equips us to step into the both and. If we jump into verse 21, we have no verb. There is no submit. There is no context for what is happening afterwards. And so many of us are trying to live a standard or hold our spouse or others to a standard without being connected to the source. Anybody here ever woken up in the morning and to your dismay, your phone didn't charge. I'm convinced somebody evil built my house. There's an outlet in our room that for some reason is attached to a switch, a light switch. I'm trying to think of a different word than switch. So opposite sides of the room, outlet over here by our bed, switch over here. So sometimes you can plug in your phone and think it's charging and you're waking up in the morning ready to go and it's dead. And so sometimes we are going into life and we are not connected to the source. The phone wasn't broken. The charger wasn't broken. It wasn't connected to the power. And so I wonder if sometimes you are finding yourself in either or situations, not because you are broken, not because you are out of position, but because you aren't connected to the source that you are intended to be connected to. And so before we start doing any actions outwardly, we need to prioritize our own time with God. Husbands, are you connected to the source? Young kings, the young men that are either dating or engaged and getting ready to build a family, are you connected to the source? It's the only way we can actually live out this portion of scripture that God has invited us to. And we can stop pulling on the rope and actually step into
the both end. Here's the reality. Oftentimes, as husbands, we can think of Ephesians chapter 5 is handing us a position or it is handing us a rank that is higher or more impactful or more important than our wife. It's not there. You can't find it. What we are actually being handed by Paul the person who moves first. We already know because Paul has answered this question in verse 25. He says, "Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her." That word "love" is the word agape, and that word actually means "unconditional." Unconditional means that I will take a step towards my wife, and if she doesn't step towards me, I will take another step towards my wife, and if she doesn't step towards me, I will take another step towards my wife, because agape love is unconditional. It isn't transactional, it isn't waiting, it isn't saying, "Hey, I tried." It's your turn. We move out of the either/or and into the both/and. Christ moved first in Romans, it says that while you and I were yet sinners, Christ died for us. I am so thankful that we did not have to figure things out because we never could have, and Jesus took a step towards us, and now He's inviting you and I to model that. At Legacy, we regularly say this phrase, "To love, live, and lead like Jesus." Well a huge part of loving, living, and leading like Jesus is a commitment to move first. It's a commitment to both/and. It's a commitment to step towards the people that are in your life, whether you are married or whether you are single, the mindset through Christ is to take a step, to find the both/and, to live life from an agape love. In 2 Corinthians chapter 8, verse 9, it says, "We know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich." Jesus went poor on purpose for us. My mind can't fully understand all that Christ gave up for me and for you. But there's that portion of Scripture when He is on the cross and He cries out, "My God, why have you forsaken Me?"
It's the first moment in His life where He has been separated from the love of the Heavenly Father. And it's because He was paying the price for you and I. He was doing agape love of taking the first step with no guarantee what any of us would do, but because He loved us so much He did it anyways. And this is what you and I have been invited to, but the only way we can consistently do this is to be connected to the source. On my own, I have limits. I might do something two or three times and then I'm going to be like, "Girl, really? You tired? This guy right here is tired. You want to talk about tired? Anybody ever gotten to a comparison game into the mud? Man, I'm feeling overwhelmed. You overwhelmed? Let me tell you what happened and now unintentionally we turn the environment of our home into a atmosphere of complaining, an atmosphere of criticism, an atmosphere of blaming and accusing each other, but make no mistake. You don't need to be married to blame somebody else for what's going on in your life. So the question is, am I responding to that agape love and then continuing to distribute and to show up in that capacity? There's a couple ways that we can approach life. The first one is transactional. I do for you. You do for me. And can we be honest? This is how our society is set up, right? So many of our interactions are transactional, little things, totally appropriate. I show up to a coffee shop. They give me a coffee and those heathens want something in return like seven dollars.
What in the world? It's water. [BLANK_AUDIO] You owe me. And this is the challenge of transactional living. We are constantly putting each other in debt to each other. And if you owe me, I'm going to set the terms of how you repay it. Think about this in marriage. It erodes the connection and the vulnerability. I love there's this moment up here where the ladies are trying to process, are we really about to do this? I could tell one of them was like, I'm going to -- I was waiting for the stance to get wider. That's how I would have known they meant business, right? But then there was that awkward moment. First gift card, now what? And eventually they moved over and they got both. This is the challenge when we drop transactional living. There's a moment of vulnerability where we don't know what the other person is or isn't going to do. But my question, do we want to live life based on hoping the other person doesn't pull so we protect ourselves? Or do we want to live life out of a trust for what God has called us? And if they pull, my God is faithful. If they pull, my God is more than enough. If they drop the rope, my God is his riches and his mercies are new for me each and every day. And so it's this element of are we transactional or there's a better option in investment. When we're transactional, we want to settle the score before the day ends. When we focus on making an investment, we allow the interest to compound and to grow.
We're not focused on the return having to happen in that same exact moment. In Colossians chapter 2 verse 13, we see this element where Jesus canceled our debt. And verse 13, it says, "You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away, then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it on the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross. Jesus canceled the debt. Jesus ripped up the IOU. Jesus could have demanded that you and I made a payment that we never could have made. And he said, "I got it." Transactional living takes us right out of the purpose and the plan of God. Jesus forgave my debt, who am I to hold a debt against my brother or my sister? Who am I to hold a debt against my wife? You and I have been called to live for so much more than transactional living. And so if one of the first things that we can do to be rich is to choose the both and the second thing is forgive the debt. Forgive the debt. What debts are you holding on to? What grudges have gone with you from week to week, month to month, year to year? Dare I say decade to decade? One of the biggest gaps that can exist in marriage is when one or both people are harboring resentment. We're holding on to a debt that we're struggling to let go of. And so the other option is to live a life where we are focused on investment. And I love that portion of Scripture in Ephesians 5 verse 15 through 20 that leads up to the submission and the serving. It says, "Give thanks in everything." It is so hard to be aware of a debt and what you're owed when you are worshiping with gratitude. When we are full of gratitude and worship and praise, we completely forget. It's not even in that moment that we have to try to.
element of gratitude that frees us to actually live life where we are committed to an investment. In marriage, it isn't about 50/50, it's 100/100. It's the only way a marriage can continue to thrive over time. As an individual, it isn't about what other people owe you, it's about how do I make this space better? How do I walk into this room and a direct result of me being here? Somebody else is encouraged, somebody else is equipped, somebody else is empowered. Imagine when you and I gather together and we are committed to every room we walk in isn't what somebody owes us, but it's what we can invest. It's what we can watch compound, it's what we can watch grow and thrive and excel. It fundamentally changes the way you and I show up. In Matthew 6 verse 21, it says, "For where your treasure is there, the desires of your heart will be also." We often get this backwards. We think that we spend money on what's important to our heart, and it's just not true. It literally says, "For where your treasure is, your heart will be also." Our treasure follows what we prioritize, what we invest in, what is important to us, our treasure follows, a reflection question for each one of us, a reflection question for those of you who are in the overflow, for those of you who are online. If you were to look at your bank account, what's going in and what's going out, if you were to look at your calendar, what is on it, what isn't on it, what would somebody else think your treasure is? What would somebody else say is your priority? The investment matters. I want to tell you guys about one of the worst basketball games of my life. I heard a chuckle over there. Somebody's shocked that I played basketball. I grew up in a small town, which was perfect, because everybody was 5'10" and under. We played on eight foot rims, so I'm just kidding. Some of you believe that.
That's messed up. You've got to have a little more faith in your guy up here. We're playing this basketball tournament, and the regular season was about to start, but it was Christmas break, so it's just the last kind of preseason tournament. The problem is we thought the tournament started the next day, but we were already supposed to be there. We finished a practice, only half the teams there, because they're coming back from being out of town, and the coaches are like, "Hey, the tournament just called, they're wondering where we are." Like what? I thought we played tomorrow. No, we played now. So seven of us, that practice, coach goes, "Who's going?" Six of us raised our hands. One guy didn't go. We went down to this tournament, we got whooped, like bad. And the embarrassing thing, it was like, it was by a team that you shouldn't lose to, no matter what. Like YMCA, reversible high school jerseys type of thing, like, right? They had duct tape numbers, the whole bed, it was tough. We got whooped, not even close, just, I wondered if there was a mercy rule in the tournament, because we would have taken it. Next day, with our full team, we show up, and we actually beat the other team that goes on to win the tournament. That team was shocked. They were like, "What the heck?" We weren't a bad team. We were an incomplete team. Not everybody showed up. Because in our life, our team is taking losses, because some of us aren't showing up.
And so I'm wondering, where in our life have we stopped showing up? And so often, we can be on the team. We can be checking the boxes and going through the motions. But are we still locked in and in the game? Are we still fully present? Because one of the biggest investments you and I can make is through our presence, through our focused, intentional presence. Whether you are married or whether you are single, your presence matters. Why does it matter? Because God has gifted you as a unique son or daughter, there's our skills or talents, creativity, and experience. something. Your presence matters, showing up matters. And so oftentimes the biggest thing that we can do is a commitment to continue to show up. But how we show up, we're showing up from the overflow of the time we already spent with Jesus. So when we show up, we're just present with other people. First Timothy, chapter 4, verse 12, Paul is talking to his mentor and he says this, says, "Don't let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say and the way you live in your love, your faith and your purity." Five areas that Paul is highlighting to Timothy that are important to show up. These aren't areas that you and I arrive. There isn't a finish line. It's a tension that we constantly manage and navigate. What does it look like to show up in this area? Speech, conduct, love, faith and purity. Even right now in this moment, I encourage every one of us to just ask God, God, what does it look like to take one step in one of these areas? What does it look like to continue to show up in this moment? What does it look like to continue to invest in this area of what you want to do in and through me? Your presence matters. One of the biggest investments we can make is our presence. It is to show up. I get ready to close and we consider this idea of what it is to be rich in marriage, what it is to be rich in our life, what it is to live out with righteousness. It's this idea of the both and. How do we open up and move away from the either or? It's this idea of forgive the debt. What is it that we need to let go? And it's this idea of make the investment. Earlier we were looking at this rope and it symbolized a tug of war
or a gap or a struggle or a battle between two people. But in Ecclesiastes chapter four, there's a different depiction of what a rope may represent. And starting in verse seven, Solomon is writing, I observed yet another example of something meaningless under the sun. This is the case of a man who is all alone without a child or a brother yet who works hard to gain as much wealth as he can. But then he asks himself, who am I looking? Who am I working for? Why am I giving up so much pleasure now? It is also meaningless and depressing. Solomon thousands of years ago wrote the initial ideas of get rich or die trying. And he realized that wealth wasn't in the accumulation of things, but that wealth was actually found in relationships. Relationship with God and relationship with people. Looking at verse nine, two people are better off than one for they can help each other succeed. If one person fails, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back to back and conquer. Three are even better for a triple braided cord is not easily broken. A triple braided cord is not easily broken. Earlier, this rope signified something that was between two people. But in the context of marriage, God actually uses the depiction of a rope, a husband, a wife, and the Holy Spirit to be something that we can rely on, something that brings stability, something that brings comfort, something that brings support, something that brings clarity and courage. And so as I get ready to close, I want to go ahead and put the reflection questions up. But oftentimes, when we're experiencing a distance, that distance is made bigger by waiting. [MUSIC PLAYING] Christ did. Christ moved first and legacy. That's what we're gonna do. We're gonna move first. So what does it look like to move first? Where can I change and step into the both and? What is the debt that I can forgive? And what is the investment I can make? Hey, if you're still watching at this point, I believe that it's not an accident. I believe that if you're feeling something in your spirit, that is God trying to get your attention and invite you into a deeper relationship with Him. And so if you're ready to take that step, I want to I want to walk you through what that looks like. It's simple. We're going to say a
prayer together and it's just you acknowledging that you believe that Jesus is who He says He is and that you're willing to commit your life to following Him and learning to what it means to be a son or daughter of God. So repeat after me if you can. Jesus, here I am, I believe that you love me, that you died for me and that you want a relationship with me. I acknowledge that I'm a sinner and I need a Savior and I'm committing to learning what it means to be a follower of Jesus. If I mess up, I will not quit because you've never quit on me. I invite your Holy Spirit to lead me and guide me in your truth from today on. In Jesus' name, amen. Hey, we're proud of you. That's a huge decision and we don't want you to feel like you have to figure it all out on your own from this point. We have a value, a legacy that says we follow Jesus for ourselves but not by ourselves. So I would invite you to text the number below, follow the instructions and we're going to send you resources so you can learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus and be on this journey of faith.
