Rich in Humility
This Sunday at Legacy Church, Pastor Delicia Hamilton brings a message titled “Rich in Humility.”
In this message, Pastor Delicia challenges us to look inward, listen to God's direction, and recognize that true humility begins when we stop insisting we know best and allow God to lead us.
What if the next step forward starts with admitting we need to turn around?
Join us this Sunday at Legacy Church as we discover what it means to be Rich in Humility.
We're gonna get started in wrapping up this series. Have you guys been having a lot of fun with this series? Get rich or die, try. Well, 50 Cent in the back. That's really Pastor Justin's back, if you didn't know. I'm just trying to get brownie points. Pride trusts what's in my hands. Humility puts it all in God's hands. This is where we're gonna start today because this is what I want to kind of place in picture for you all. Who's really in control of your life? Who's really in control? As we're wrapping up this series, I wanna talk about something that is not the amount in your bank account. It is what is happening in your heart. That God wants to address. In the title of today's message is rich in humility. So let me ask you something. Have you ever missed your exit for those that drive? And I use GPS and then all of a sudden, somehow, someway, one of my kids mess it up and the GPS turns off. Right before, we were about to be like five minutes away. It's like, don't worry, I got a shortcut. I know, like I know how to get there. And then 20 minutes later, like Justin's looking at me, but not saying anything.
This is all over his face. 'Cause he's like, I don't wanna start the day like this, but you said that this is a shortcut and you don't know your way. And I'm like, I got this, I know, but I never wanna admit to him that I know. And have any of you guys been in this place? Is this just me? Am I alone in this room? Oh, you guys are, what the heck? Wow, wow, we got some work to do in this room, okay? Well, that's how I struggle sometimes with the fact that I don't wanna admit that I don't know or maybe I was wrong or maybe that wasn't what I thought, that was the way. But a lot of us treat God this way. Why do I mean is that when he gave you the path, he told you what it is, but then for some reason you say, I got it, I know a shortcut, I got it, I know another path. Oh, now, now it's sinking in, huh? If you don't know me, you're gonna get to know me today. And that is who, that's how pride shows up for us with God. Let me make it personal. You tell me, Pastor, we have a place together. We have a dog together. I can't leave her. I gotta stay in this because we've already taken this path. But then I'm saying, is that your path or what God said? Because I thought, God said, go back, marry her,
then get the place, then get the dog. But we don't wanna go back. We don't wanna hear that correction. We don't wanna hear, hey, make that U-E, make that U-E. Turn it back, start over. No, something in us all of a sudden arises. It's like, I don't need to go that way. I know this way. And that's what I wanna address today. Is that even though it's funny when it comes to the GPS and it's funny when me and PJ are arguing in the car about who knows which way best. But truthfully, it's a lot of us in this room that today that we've had these moments that God is saying, go back. And yet the pride in us says, no, I got it. I know the way. This worked out for me this way. It had to be this way. Sometimes we rather keep going the wrong way than admit we need to turn around. So before you start thinking who should come, who should have came to church today or who this is for, or dang, my spouse isn't here. Like, what the heck? Watch this message. Don't do it. Don't do it. Don't text them. 'Cause this isn't for your coworkers.
This isn't for your spouse. This is for you. When Paul speaks to Timothy about people who have wealth look at what he addresses first first Timothy 6 17 as for the rich in this present age Charge them not to be haughty nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches But on God who richly provides us with everything to enjoy Okay, so with that Hottie that word hottie means proud So Paul is not telling them that they cannot enjoy what God has provided He is warning them not to become proud or to put their hope in something uncertain Because it is impossible to have more and start depending on God's less Some of you. Yep. Okay, remember us us us don't look around You used to pray over every decision Now you you can afford it so you don't you do not think you need to ask and yet You used to be grateful for somebody that gave you an opportunity now you are offended Somebody didn't somebody else got it or that they didn't think of you and Listen, you do not have to have a lot of money to struggle with pride You can have very little and still insist that nobody is going to tell you something Pride trust what's in my hands humility puts it all in God's hands This is where this is where we are going today We want to be people who can receive from God without forgetting God and people who can bless others without needing all the credit So let's open up our Bibles to James chapter 4. Let's let the word speak before we decide this message just for somebody else James 4 6 says this but he gives more grace Therefore it says God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble Submit yourselves therefore to God and resist the devil and he will flee from you draw near to God and he will draw near to you Clend your hands you sinners and purify your heart you double-minded Be wretched and mourn and we let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom But humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you James is speaking into conflict among believers if you didn't know in this passage People are fighting wanting what someone else has and trying to get their own way
Sounds like family James for once through twos though let we jumped real quick. Let's go back to the beginning One says what causes quarrel sums and what causes fights among you. It's a question. He's questioning them is Is it not this that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have you murder you covet you cannot obtain so you fight and quarrel You do not have because you do not ask He does not start by asking who won the argument. He asks is what is happening inside of them? That matters because we can spend so much time explaining what somebody else did that we never let God address our own heart They should have respected me. They should have asked me they should have noticed me Maybe there is a conversation that needs to happen and that could be true, but God But can God talk to you about how you are responding to? Pride puts me in the place that belongs to God So write this down pride puts me in the place that but that belongs to God So Church if we cannot be people who can be corrected, but yet we are people that want to accuse and point out There's a problem with that. There's a pride problem with this My way my credit my control humility says God you get to lead me even in places where I think I know better So it says God opposes the proud James does not say God overlooks pride He says God opposes it that is serious. We cannot ask God to lead us while insisting we he follow our instructions James echoes this wisdom from Proverbs Proverbs 3 34 Towards the scourners he is scornful, but to the humble he gives favor so During the first experience I saw this refuse His correction. God help my marriage but do not ask me to apologize. Too many people left. Help my finances but do not touch my spending. Do not ask me to make that pay cut. Do not ask me to not take those benefits. Use me but make sure everybody knows it was me.
Church, we need grace too much to keep defending the thing He is asking us to surrender. And then this image came to me at the first experience of that when He says God opposes the proud is that what that mean pride is actually a military term. And so in the Greek and what it's saying is that God says that He opposes the proud. So every time you're operating in pride is that your prayers are being hindered. It means that God is stopping having His angels stop you to getting to destruction. There is an army in front of you actually opposing you. But when you have humility it is that that army is fighting with you and for you and that favor is found with you and that your grace and mercy follows me. And I just get this picture of that and I'm like Lord because I think of time and time again where I've felt this. Pride is not always loud. I've learned that. There is the pride we recognize right away, it needs the last word, it needs to be right. It needs everybody to know what it contributed. Even the apology somehow turns into a speech about how the other person did. But I remember a time for me personally that during Christmas when we first got married me and PJ we were living in a studio and I remember we were sharing money and not sharing. We were one. We'll talk about marriage later. And so I just remember the first time, I just remember this has nothing to do with the story. So I just remember this first time I saw my phone pop up and it was my bank account and it was saying that somebody charged $200 and I was like at the mall. It was payday and I remember called PJ and I was like where are you at right now? And he's like oh I'm just at the mall. Happy y'all lucky. Mind you I'm at work and so and I'm like oh what are you doing? And he's like just getting some shoes, like so nonchalantly I'm like yeah can we talk about that next time? I just felt like this being inside of me all of a sound like oh it's our money, it's our
money, yes and he's going to spend it on shoals. But I remember that Christmas it was we're learning a budget, we're learning being married bills all the things and I'll never forget that Christmas because it was a very sad Christmas. I grew up with a single mom like most of you guys know but Christmas was not one of those things I looked forward to. I'm like low key a Grinch around Christmas, not anymore praise Jesus I'm safe, delivered. But you know like growing up with a single mom you didn't know if you were getting one bag full of like socks and a couple t-shirts or you were going to get like maybe a stocking or whatever the case might be. So that was like I felt like if I just went in with no expectations I won't be disappointed. And so I came into that with my marriage and I remember you know Hispanics we celebrate on Christmas Eve we want to open up gifts on Christmas Eve. He's like blue PJ's mind he was like what is wrong with you guys. And I was like well this is what we're going to do. And my family always got together on Christmas Eve I did not want to go though. And he was like, Delicia, like everybody understands, we just got married. We got married in August, now it's December. He's like, we just got married, like chill, like they all understand, blah, blah, blah. My family really would have understood, but it was killing me inside. And I didn't want everybody to know. I felt like I had this image to uphold. I felt like I had this, like I'm an adult now, I need to do adult things. And I, if I don't have the funds for to be able to get everybody gifts that they really like or want, then I can't show up to this. And well, PJ shows, goes to my family event without me. I don't know if you guys know, but your pastors like have a past life and we low-key thugs with each other. So like we don't, this codependency stuff, no, okay. Anyways, another time, marriage, later. So anyways, he's like, okay Delicia, you're going to learn, peace.
So he goes to my family function. And I kid you not, I remember crying. I wasn't mad at him, I was mad at myself. I was mad at myself and I was like, Lord, like, I just remember having this time with God and this wrestle with God. And I was just like, I don't want to go. Like that's, that's, no, why? I don't have anything to give them. And I just remember that the Lord really convicted me and showed me, Delicia, that's pride. You are holding on to pride and you are trying because you think you need to be somewhere that you, that nobody else is putting on you. You think that you need to have this money that nobody else said you had to. Like you think that you, this is what they want for me when all they wanted was you. And I couldn't hear any of that because pride was clouding my whole head. Like it was covering my ears that I couldn't, I couldn't hear, I couldn't hear anything until I was in that lonely place by myself with only me and the Lord. And I never allowed myself to miss ever a Christmas again. Even when PJ was sick, I left his butt like. And it's just like, I mean, I can't forget that time. Like it, it really changed me so much to understanding what it meant and what I was holding on to. And some of you guys relate to that. Some of you guys don't. You're like, no, I was with PJ, but anyways, that's great for you. You're more like Jesus, but pride can be quiet too. It can sound like I'm fine. I don't need anybody. I'll figure it out myself. We can become so committed to looking strong that we still will not let anyone else even pray for us. And I think about that when we come to church.
I think about that when I honestly, when I, when I got saved, I used to be at that altar like every Sunday. Every Sunday I would find a way to be like, yep, Jesus, you saw me this week. I just need, I need you. And I just remember that I didn't, I didn't care at that point what anybody thought because I knew I needed Jesus. But there is a lot of us that come into this place caring and thinking that, oh, I got it all together. I got to show it. I got to show face like, you know, we're all like, I don't know about you how you grew up. But as long as the kids all look good, we good, like you better look right. But everything else at home is a wreck. Everything in the marriage is a wreck. Everything in the friendships are a wreck. And yet we don't want to use the prayer team because we're worried about what people are going to think. We're coming to the place that we're supposed to be able to lean on each other to be the body of Christ. But yet we want to hold on to the pride and say, no, I got it all together. I don't need that. There's, there's mamas in the room that I want to talk to. That when I hear this silent and quiet pride is, I don't know who I can trust. I don't know if I say too much. I don't know if they're going to be there for me. And that's the trust that you have to give to the Lord. That's the humility that you have to live in. That's the faith that you have to walk out because pride. that they're gonna judge me, that they don't know what I have to deal with. Or I got it, it's just us, it's me, my boo, and my boo that I shouldn't even be with. But like, it's us, and the dog. I came out being too funny today, sorry guys. Funny to myself, not to you. Now that not everyone who struggles to ask for help
is being proud, I do want to make that clear. Sometimes people have been hurt, and that's real. Sometimes trust takes time, but it is worth asking God, am I being wise about who I trust? Or am I refusing to admit that I have a need? Am I refusing to admit that I have a need? And then the third thing is, there is a spiritual pride. We know the church language, we know what, when to say amen, but somewhere along the way, we start looking down on people instead of loving them. I've seen this, and unfortunately I've seen it in our own church, that it saddens me at times when we think that we've been doing church for such a long time, and I don't know where we lost this thought that we are here for the lost. We are not here to create a country club for us all to look like we have it together, and that we're all good, and we're just gonna all participate in it. Like church is messy, church is broken. God isn't, God is perfect. God is the perfect God that we need, but we are messy. And it saddens me as a pastor to hear when people are like, why are they here? What is that saying? That saddens me, because how are they supposed to know Jesus if the church won't be open for the lost? To be able to go on a journey with people who are far from God. What is the church then?
When's the last time that you brought somebody to Jesus? When's the last time that you actually looked at somebody with dignity that is on the streets and saying, do you need help? Do you want prayer? Do you wanna be made well? There's so much hidden pride. Luke 18, 11 talks about these types of Pharisees. The Pharisees, standing by himself, pray this, God, I thank you for that. I am not like those other men. The extortioners, the unjust, the adulterers, and even like the tax collector. This is a Pharisee. This is the language of Pharisees. These are the language for those of you that don't know what that Pharisee, we're the religious people. That this is why Jesus was sent because we got too comfortable with filling these temples, filling these churches with people as if it's a country club and it's just made for perfect people. When you had nobody was perfect. He is talking, he is talking to God, but he is comparing himself to someone else that can happen to us as well. We can know enough scripture to correct everybody in the room and still resist the Holy Spirit when he corrects us.
Being able to recognize somebody else's sin is not the same thing as letting God deal with yours. Let me show you this in Daniel. King Nebuchadnezzar has power, people at his command and a palace, but he has a dream he cannot understand and he cannot sleep. Verse two, one, in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams, his spirit was troubled and his sleep left him and all that authority and he is still and he still cannot make himself have peace. He calls in his wise men and demands them to tell him both the dream and its meaning and they want to tell them the first, the dream first, he refuses and he threatens their lives. You see how they're using manipulation there? They're like, yeah, we can tell you about your dream. You tell me about it first and then I'll tell you about it. This is what they do. And then it says in verse 10, the Cal deans And no great and powerful king has asked such a thing of any... Oh my gosh, a magician, or a chanter, or kaladin. And they have reached the limit of what they can do. This is who they are. The king becomes furious and orders the wise men killed. Daniel and his friends are included in that danger. So verse 17 says, "Then Daniel went to the house and made the matter known to Hananiah, Michelle, and Azariah, his companions, meaning his friends.
And he told them to seek mercy from God of the heaven concerning this mystery so that Daniel and his companions might not be destroyed with the rest of the wise man of Babylon. Then the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night. And Daniel blessed the God of heaven. That is humility in a real crisis. He needs God and he is not too proud to ask people to pray. Daniel needs God. His life is on the line. Everybody's life is on the line now, because the king is math. Nobody can tell him about his dreams. I'm going to paraphrase for the sake of time, and he jumped and I want to just show real quick. Daniel 20 verse 23 is what I'm going to paraphrase with you guys. And in this time, Daniel then gives glory to God. He gets the answer. He gets the vision and he knows how to interpret it now, but then he is praising God. He immediately goes praising God, thanking God. He doesn't hesitate, doesn't immediately. What I want to ask you is, we are often quick to ask God for help. Are we just as quick to thank him? Before we tell everybody else what has been accomplished, oh, I got that job. Oh, I got that, that car. Oh, I got that girl like, ah, did you thank God? Could you let everybody know how you were praying for it? Could you thank him for it? I believe that God doesn't, God is just pleased when we as, as people, as sons and daughters praise him, thank him and honor him in that way. We get into that posture. And I think that that's something to remember is that is a sense of pride. Well, I belong on that team.
Well, I belong in that career. Oh, my experience, you know, what I have, no, God got you there. God made room for you. And the more that you express gratitude, the more that you will remain in your seat and not in his. In this story, though, as we continue on versus 25 and 28, he then goes to the King's guard and he goes, get me a meeting with him. I got his dream interpretation. Get me a meeting with him. What's funny is when he comes into the room, the guard goes, I found somebody to interpret your dreams, King, your dreams. Yes, I did that. So we immediately see the contrast from Daniel's life to then the people who the King is supposed to be serving the King and is in this court. This is not crazy. The people who are in the courts already, but yet they are the most prideful people. And they want this credit. They try to take this credit in this. And just to tell you guys, Daniel is a really great chapter to start reading and to really dive into, but he gives the King interpretation. He tells them that there's nobody on this earth that can interpret your dream, but only God. So again, Daniel is in a posture of giving credit where credit is due. It doesn't mean that Daniel is not seen. It does not mean that Daniel is not not skilled or that he wasn't a faithful man, but yet he postured himself to understand under God, not in the seat of God. He couldn't easily been like, looking, look what I did. Look what I did. I answered you. That is the difference.
Humility does not deny what God has put you where God has put you. It remembers who put you there. So when God uses you be grateful, when somebody thanks you receive it gracious Let God use your life without making your life all about you. But I do want you to not miss how James starts this verse. But he gives more grace, therefore it says, God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Grace, that is good news for every one of us who have seen ourselves somewhere in this message. Maybe you've been defensive, maybe you've been controlling, maybe you've been keeping score of who thanked you and who did not. Maybe you've walked in today with a whole case prepared about why you are right. You do not have to leave holding onto it, God's grace is not permission to keep living the same way. It means you can stop hiding, tell him the truth, and trust him to help you change. The answer to conviction is not to run away from God, it is to come to him. And we're not being asked to follow a savior that was unwilling to humble himself. I'll show you, Philippians 2, 8 through 9. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death and even death on a cross. Therefore, God has highly exalted him and bestowed him, bestowed on him the name that is above every name. That is where that comes from, that is a very powerful scripture to keep and to constantly remind and renew your mind with. Jesus obeyed the Father all the way to the cross. He did not merely give us a lesson in humility, he gave us his life for us. Think about that when pride tells you an apology is beneath you. Think about that when serving feels inconvenient or when nobody notices what you did. We follow Jesus, we cannot follow him and assist that we are above the way he lived. When I heard this, I instantly thought about my Bible study that I'm doing and a woman shared just recently such a powerful testimony of humility. She was telling me, "Pastor, I was asked from God, I've been praying and praying and praying and asking God to really seek the things out of me that are not of him." As she was doing this, she said that she was asked from God to apologize to the Father of her children who were abusive to her. As I'm listening to the story, I'm like, "Girl, you did not have to do that, but I'm listening." When she said, "I didn't want to do that," everything in me was like, "What?" Like, "That's not from the Lord. I got to sit on this." She said that she ended up, "You're writing or texting. I forget which one it was." And she was met still with the same person, same behavior, nothing changed.
But you know what did change is that the whole time she hasn't received child support. And when she decided to have humility, even though it's not about if they're worth it or they're worthy of it, it's about her obedience to the Lord. All of a sudden, everybody starts paying child support. All of a sudden. Some of you are giving those little golf claps because you know that would have taken you a lot longer to listen to. You don't even know if you probably would have. Because why? Because we're constantly putting ourselves in the throne of the judge. They're not worthy of my time. They're not worthy of my apology. They're not worthy of that. I'm not giving that to them. In the army of God, I'm so thankful that she shared that, because I was just thinking of this, second Corinthians eight nine, for you know the grace of God, Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. Paul is pointing towards people towards generosity by reminding them of the grace of Jesus. Jesus gave himself, we have received what we could have never earned, so that this is not a promise that humility will make us wealthy or get us the position we want. It's an invitation to trust the one who gave himself for us, and to let his generosity change how we live. When you know you have received grace, you can give grace. When you know you have been forgiven, you do not have to keep holding everybody else's failure over your their head. When you know your life belongs to Jesus, you can stop spending all of it trying to make yourself look important. You do not have to prove you are enough before you admit you need him. We can be honest with God legacy. We can say that was me, I was wrong, I've been holding on too tightly, and instead of pretending we can receive the grace to take a different step today. And I pray that that is for everybody, but I do want to mention this is that humility is not humiliation.
When I say to humble yourself, I'm not telling you to hate yourself. I'm not telling you that you do not matter, and I'm not telling you that you can be mistreated is something that you have to accept or prove to prove that you are humble. I'm not saying that at all. Humility is putting yourself under God's care instead of trying to sit in his place. You can acknowledge the gifts he has given you. You can receive love. You can ask for help. You can tell the truth about something that hurt you. Some of you have been the strong person for so long that you do not even know how to say I am not doing well. Everybody calls you. Everybody needs something. And when someone asks you how you are, the answer comes out before you even think, I'm good. You do not have to give everybody access to your heart, but please do not confuse never needing anybody with spiritual maturity. Daniel had people he could pray with. We need people too. We need people that we can pray with. James 4/8 says this draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Clend your hands, you sinners, and purify your heart so you double-minded. He is not asking for a polished version of you. He is calling you to come honestly, to turn from sin and stop dividing your heart between him and the things you will not release. I know that there's some practical things that I want to share with you guys real quickly when it comes to what humility looks like. And the first one is get off the throne. James 4/7 says submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
I want you to reflect on this, and it's going to go quickly for the sake of time, so you might want to take pictures. Name one area you have been controlling. Bring it to God before you make the next decision. Do your part, and let him the Lord over the outcome. Let him be the Lord over the outcome. To fight the right enemy, stop fighting your spouse, stop fighting your kids, stop fighting your friends, stop fighting church people, stop fighting them online. I don't need you to do that. But we can tell the truth without letting pride lead the conversation. We can tell the truth without letting pride lead the conversation. This is how this works. I was wrong. I am sorry for how I spoke to you. You see how disarming that is for people? This is the reflection. Make one honest apology without adding but. Ask God to help you listen before you defend yourself. And then the third thing is come close and come clean. I've referenced James 4, 8 through 9 for this, but this is where God loves you enough to deal with more than what everybody can see. When I say that is that I want you to reflect on this, confess what God is showing you. Ask one trustworthy person for prayer or help with something that you've been carrying alone. And then the fourth thing is the overflow. Open your hands to what God has for you.
Open your hands to what God is saying to you. I believe that that woman had her hands open to receiving and putting herself in a posture of humility. I saw from the back is that the men have been changed so dramatically in worship. And it shifted the whole thing. It shifted in the atmosphere. And I love seeing it because I as a wife, I saw Pastor Justin when his worship changed and shifted. He went to a men's camp and he came back that way. And he chose to stay that way. And I distinctively remember the time because I remember, 'cause we're in competition all the time. So it's like, no, I'm in worship. And he'll go a little bit closer. No, I'm in worship. We're kind of being in front of each other and everything. And I was messing with him at first, but then I realized like, oh, wow, like no, he serious. This is like a heart change. And when I knew that is because he started walking around the house worshiping. And I mean, he does it almost every day now. It's just his routine. And he's in how he worships and gets up to worship and praising God and thanking God. It's his posture all the time. But I was in the back and I was watching
and I wanna encourage somebody in this moment because in the first experience, I said the reason why I'm speaking about this message is because the Lord changed it. It was supposed to be a completely different message. And a couple of Sundays ago, the Lord spoke to me because there was a moment that the Lord allowed me to know that people were not coming to him because of pride. He said, they're prideful. They're in a prideful posture. And I just thought about that. And I was like, okay, glory. And he goes, they're not coming to me in the posture of humility. They're coming to me still in the seat of the throne. And I thought about that because I thought how many of us come into this place and we don't realize that the posture that God is asking us to be in. When I say open hands, he's saying that you're saying, God, whatever your will is for my life, I will do. For whatever you're asking me, I will do. Even when it makes my skin crawl, even when it makes me feel like this doesn't take all that. Even when it makes me want to say like, no Lord, I don't wanna do it. I'm going to be in this posture. (audience applauding) And sometimes you physically need to be in this posture
for you to spiritually get there. And he's saying you're just holding yourself standing instead of posturing yourself in humility. (gentle music) But this is the first time I've ever seen Elijah on his knees in a posture of humility. And it was bringing me to tears in the back because I was like, "I've never seen that. I've never seen that." And it was so powerful because I was realizing like, "God, you're working. You're working. You're working." The enemy will no longer have your people, Lord. You're working. If you've been on the 21 days of prayer and fasting, I've been praying for my sisters every time. Everybody knows it. I'm praying for them to come back to God. And I'm so at all in God right now. I saw my sister come to her encounter that I did not know that she was coming, and when she came, it was a beautiful thing. And most importantly, I saw her worshiping for the very first time. But it's not just, "Let me sing these songs." She postured herself at a time that she knew that she desperately needed him. At a time that she desperately knew, "I cannot do this in my own strength anymore." I can't keep acting like I have it all. And I'm praying, Church, that we come into this place that you enter into workplaces, that you enter into schools, that you enter into your environment with a posture of humility. With a posture of humility for who the Lord is and what He has done for you. Hey, if you're still watching at this point, I believe that it's not an accident. I believe that if you're feeling something in your spirit, that is God trying to get your attention and invite you into a deeper relationship with Him. And so, if you're ready to take that step, I want to walk you through what that looks like. It's simple. We're going to say a prayer together, and it's just you acknowledging that you believe that Jesus is who He says He is, and that you're willing to commit your life to following Him and learning what it means to be a son or daughter of God. So, repeat after me if you can. Jesus, here I am, I believe that you love me, that you died for me, and that you want a relationship with me. I acknowledge that I'm a sinner and I need a Savior. And I'm committing to learning what it means to be a follower of Jesus. If I mess up, I will not quit because you've never quit on me. I invite your Holy Spirit to lead me and guide me in your truth from today on. In Jesus' name, amen. Hey, we're proud of you. That's a huge decision. And we don't want you to feel like you have to figure it all out on your own from this point. We have a value, a legacy that says we follow Jesus for ourselves, but not by ourselves. So, I would invite you to text the number below, follow the instructions, and we're going to send you resources so you can learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus and be on this journey of faith.
