Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I shall fear no evil Why for he is he is with me. He's with me right that changes everything that he is with me pastor Terrence brought up Pentecost today is the day of Pentecost and you know what my favorite thing about the day of Pentecost is It's this one word in the book of Acts chapter 2 verse 2 and that one word is Suddenly, I love the word Suddenly because suddenly is how fast God can move in your life suddenly not slowly not casually, but Suddenly it says and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as a mighty rushing wind Suddenly is the same disciples that were hiding in fear became bold with fire Suddenly is when weakness turned into power Suddenly is when silence turned into preaching suddenly is when ordinary people became world changers Because the Holy Spirit filled the room Pentecost reminds us That God still pours out his spirit on hungry people Are you hungry today history makers church? Are you really hungry? It is a privilege pastor Terrence pastor Emma to be here. I love that. I love that God brought us together we have had a lot of guest speakers come through our church and You guys were my favorite still to this day. I love you guys pastor Terrence tells the story of how we met in such a honoring way, but the way I remember it is that we were all sitting around this room and every pastor was introducing themselves and Everybody was like I'm pastor so-and-so of such-and-such church and like we are the greatest church in the universe and not only that but lives are being changed and souls are being saved and This is my wife and we've been married for 3900 perfect years. We've never had a marriage problem. We have 19,000 kids They're all perfect
nobody's ever strayed away from the Lord like everything was a success story and then and then it and then and then it And then I was the last one then it got to me and I don't know about y'all But my life is not a big success story like I've been through some hell anybody been through some hell like I've been through some Hell, I'm gonna need some help preaching this sermon today like anybody been through some hell But by the grace of God you're in the place today because of the power of God because of the grace of God That's sufficient for you And so I get to this this table and I'm just like man I just felt like I sucked the energy I called Natalie when it was over and I said I'm pretty sure I just sucked the Energy completely out of the room But like I had I have gone through some things you guys and that's really what I want to talk about today And we're gonna dig in before we do I'm gonna pray would you bow your heads with me and let's pray Thank you Lord for your word. Thank you for your people God I pray that I would get out of the way that you would get in the way God that I would be less that you would be more God that this is the Word of God that is alive It is active. It is sharper than any two-edged sword I pray this today that you cut that you pierce that you speak that you change that you challenge God that you raise up that you call us higher. God. Call us higher God call us higher call us deeper. Anybody want to go deeper God call us deeper today. God call us deeper deeper in Jesus name we all say Amen, high-five your neighbor and say amen. They are absolutely Incredible you guys you guys are blessed. You guys are blessed to have such leaders. My name is Travis Hearn I'm here along with my beautiful wife. Natalie Hearn is sitting in the front row. We have been married for 28 years
Come on, somebody 28 years and every year gets better and better We have three beautiful children a daughter who is 25 years old who? who lives in San Diego, who played college basketball out there. My son is 22, works full-time ministry in the church at Impact Church, and my youngest daughter Jazzy is 16, and we are all here today, and we are a complete testimony of God's grace and what God can do in our lives. Our church, Impact Church, started as a Bible study for the Arizona Cardinals football team. I used to be the team chaplain for the Cardinals. I am the current chaplain for the Phoenix Suns. I've been with the Phoenix Suns for 24 years. I've been a Major League Baseball chapel for over 12 years. These are some pictures of people that have been in our ministry, just a collage with Kevin Durant and Shaquille O'Neal, and everybody probably knows Odell Beckham Jr., but this guy right here in the middle is Michael Jackson's drummer, is a part of our church. He was Michael's drummer for 30 years, and so, Jonathan Moffitt, you know something about drumming, you know, because earlier, before church started, I jumped on the piano. You know, you can never, it's like, if there's a piano and it's turned on, I gotta play it. You can't, you know, it's like,
if you go to the basketball court and there's a basketball, you gotta at least shoot it once, and so I started playing piano, and then Pastor Terrence jumped on the drums, and bro, when you told me before you played drums, like, no, bro, you play drums drums. Like, you're a drummer drummer, like, that was no joke. Like, come on, somebody, and I told you before, I said, I don't think we even need the worship team, because, like, we got this, and then the worship team got up and did their thing, and I said, no, we need the worship team. They're that good. They're that good. They're that anointed. Y'all give some love to your worship team, who leads you guys every single week. Just a little brief introduction about us and who we are, but the greatest claim to fame that we have is no human, earthly, physical person. It is Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. He is our everything. We're gonna dig into God's word today, and, you know, I was wondering if you feel like I feel, do you ever feel needy? Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, do you ever feel like your prayer, maybe your prayer life is like, if you think back, if I think back of my prayer life, I'm like, man, it's just a bunch of needs.
Like, God, I need a miracle. God, I need a healing. God, I need you to open a door. God, I need you to close the door. God, I need you to fix this mess. Like, anybody feeling what I'm talking about? Like, you feel needy? Like, I felt so needy in my life, and so many times, like, just needy. And I think it's good to approach God with needs, but, like, I also think there's this balance where, like, we need to show God how much we love him and tell God how much we adore him and how much we praise him. You know, like, church can, I don't know, man. Church can be sometimes about me and not him. You know what I'm saying? Like, you leave, and the people are like, oh, how was church today? Oh, it was good, it was good. What do you mean it was good? Oh, I felt worship, I needed that. That word, I needed that. That was for me. But what about the whole idea of church being about falling on our knees and worshiping the King of all kings and the Lord of all lords, that it's actually not about me? But I'm thankful that we have a God
who addresses our needs. In fact, there's an entire chapter, it's the most famous chapter in the Bible, and it talks about this, and it's Psalm chapter 23. Anybody know this chapter? It's Psalm chapter 23, and I want us to read it together. It's six verses, and so we're gonna read it together. If you're ready, say, I'm ready. Look at your neighbor and ask him, are you ready? All right, here we go, verse one. Let's read. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. Okay, time out. I'm competitive, and like the other services so far have waxed you guys. Like, I need you guys to read this like you really love God, like you really love the word of God. Not like this, the Lord is my shepherd. It's like, the Lord is, come on, like somebody, you wanna preach with me today, ready? Here we go. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his namesake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over. Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Come on, let's. Put our hands together for the word of God today. I want to preach a sermon today that I've simply titled, My God Shall Supply. My God shall supply. Tell your neighbor right now, my God shall supply. Tell your other neighbor, my God shall supply. I know some of you are still just looking at me when I ask you to tell your neighbor, you know when preachers ask you to do something and say it out loud, it's not so we can hear your cute voices. It's because Proverbs says that there is power in the mouth. There's power of life and death in your tongue and so you need to prophesy over your life and over your friend's life that my God shall supply. So look at your neighbor and prophesy, my God shall supply, my God shall supply, he shall supply. I love this scripture. In another translation, the King James, it's my God shall supply, I shall not want, right?
He is my shepherd. In the New Living Translation, it says, the Lord is my shepherd, I have everything I need. In the NIV version, it says, the Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. Did you know that you have everything that you need? Did you know that you already have everything you need? I shall not want, I have everything I need, I lack nothing. I think this chapter is so cool because David wrote it, but he's reflecting on when he used to be a shepherd boy and he took care of his daddy's sheep. And so he's reflecting, he said, I know what it's like to be a shepherd, but the Lord is my shepherd. And so he's referring to the Lord as our shepherd, but it also is a reference that we are his sheep. In fact, Jesus also said that we are sheep. And by the way, that's not a compliment. Like sheep are utterly stupid. Like sheep have knees and they don't use them. You know, they just, they follow the butt in front of them and they don't ask any questions. They'll follow the butt in front of them right off a cliff. They don't care. That sounds like human beings to me. A lot of y'all just following butts around you. If you stop following the butts around you and found some good people, because listen,
your circle is your ceiling. And some of you are hitting a ceiling because of your circle. And the greatest thing that you could do in your life today is find a new circle. I came to tell the truth. I may never get invited back, but I am going to tell the truth. And I'm gonna tell it with all the passion in my soul today. He says, I love that he says the Lord is my shepherd because that makes it personal. It's not like the Lord is a shepherd. No, the Lord is my shepherd. He's my shepherd. He knows exactly what I need. He knows, in fact, I wanna navigate through this like an outline, right? Give you some points to think about. If you're taking notes today, I hope that you'll write a few of these things down. Maybe you wanna take a picture of each of these points, but I want to break down my thoughts on this word that my God shall supply. Because it's not just poetry, it's theology. And theology is life-changing. It's coming from David. It's a cry of somebody who's walked through the valley of the shadow of death. By the way, that's my favorite part. That's my favorite verse in the chapter is verse four.
Even though I walked through the valley of the, if you know it, come on. Even though I walked through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil. Why? For he is with me. He's with me, right? That changes everything that he is with me. He's with me. He said, even though I walked through the valley of the shadow of death. I liked Pastor Terrence earlier. He said, David didn't say, even though I walked to the valley. He said, though I walked through the valley. Some of you feel like you've been stuck in the valley, but you're just, you're passing through. You're not done yet. Keep moving. You walk through the valley, not to the valley. I like that he said the shadow of death because he didn't say death. Because the valley of death is a very different place. He said the valley of the shadow of death. The shadow of death. There's a couple of things I know about shadows. I know that shadows are bigger than reality. I know that shadows have never hurt anybody. I know that anywhere there's a shadow, there's also a light.
And if you turn and look directly into the light, the shadow falls behind you. I know that John 8. Well, Jesus said, I am the light of the world and whoever follows me will never walk in darkness. So he says, even though I walked through the valley of the shadow of death, even though David been through some valleys, you and I have been through some valleys. Maybe today you're in the middle of a valley. I wanna break this down. Point number one is this, is that God knows what I need. Come on, will you say it out loud with me? God knows what I need. A shepherd knows every need of his sheep. This is why Paul said in Philippians 4.19, my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. All of our need, my God shall supply all of it. You know what I think is great about this verse? It takes the pressure off you. I'm glad to hand that pressure over to him. My God shall supply. In other words, it doesn't say I shall supply, but then plug God into it. It says my, it doesn't say not my job shall supply, my boss shall supply, my paycheck shall supply, my business shall supply, my intelligence shall supply, my looks shall supply, my personality shall supply. It says that my God shall supply.
He is the supply that never runs dry because he's not just the supply, he's the source. And when God is the source, because I've noticed about Christians, Christians chase the resource, but he is the source. And if we would learn to chase the source and stop chasing the resource and chase the source, we would realize that the resources are unlimited. Do you remember Jesus talked about the water supply? He talked about water supply. He talked about water supply. Jesus in John chapter four, he said, everyone who drinks of this water, everybody say this water, this water. He said, we'll be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water, welling up to eternal life. I love this passage because he said, everyone who drinks of this water, everybody say this water, this water, this water. He's not talking about well water. He's talking about the water of the world instead of the water of the word. He's talking about hell water. He's talking about chasing the things of this world, drugs, alcohol, sex, pornography, lust, greed. He's talking about if you keep chasing this water, you're gonna continue to be spiritually thirsty, trying to find something else to drink.
But if you drink of the water of the living God, if you drink of the words water, you will never be thirsty again. Amen. It's not just that the well of Jesus flows, it floods. It floods. Listen to me, it over, don't you wanna overflow? It overflows with living water that satisfies your soul that your failures cannot drain it. Your desperation cannot drain it. Your sin cannot stain it. His supply, watch this, it can never be shut off that Jesus is the well that never runs dry and the well that all the fire and hell cannot consume. His waters don't run out, they run over. In Psalm 23, David said, my cup runneth over. He is the God of overflow. Don't you wanna live and overflow somebody today instead of scarcity? So number one is God knows what I need. Number two is that God knows when I need it. Oh, I hate this one. I don't like this point. He knows what I need, but he also knows when I need it. Do you know why I don't like? Because you ever heard this saying, church folks say this all the time, God is always on. Yeah, don't they say that? You know, like whatever, dude.
God is always on time, you know. God is never late, yeah. Well, God is never early either. And that's the problem I have because I just want God to be early every now and then. Like, wouldn't that be great? Like, whoa, God, whoa, whoa, you're a little bit early. early, but he's always on time. He, he, it says in Galatians chapter six, verse nine, Paul said these words, he said, at the proper time, at the proper time, at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. If we do not don't give up, tell your neighbor, don't give up. Don't give up, man. I, I am so jealous Pastor Terrence of your men's conference next weekend. I am so jealous. I am. I wish I was coming. Cause like men's retreats, men's conferences, bro. They're like my thing. Like that's my thing. Like I love preaching to men. I love it. And, and, and God gave me a word a few years back because I don't know if y'all noticed, like our country has gone completely crazy. Anybody noticed that? Oh yeah. Like, like people don't know what their identities are. Guys think they're girls. Girls think they're guys. Humans think they're cats and stuff like that. They call them furries, like the whole world. It's just gone crazy. It's just gone crazy. And I've been thinking about why is the world and we're blaming everything on demons. Oh, the devil. Oh, the devil. Oh, Satan. Oh, Lucifer. Oh, the demons. God said, no, Travis, it's the men, the men of God stopped being men of God. And if the men of God would start being men of God again, I'm going to flood this nation with the revival, like you've never witnessed or experienced or could
even imagine. So listen, I'm jealous. If, if you're a man, I want you to stand up. If you're a man, not if you identify it, like if God gave you the goods, if God gave you the goods, stand it up, baby. Come on. Hey, women of God, if you want your man of God at that man conference, you better put your hands together right now. Every man, every man, you need to be in the building. You need to be in the building. You guys can be seated. I love men. God has given me a grace with men. But, but, but I think that the problem is, is somewhere along the line, men stopped leading spiritually. Women took over. They didn't take over because they wanted to. They took over because men stopped doing it. More women go to church every week across this country than men do. Did you know that more women listen to Christian worship music than men do? If you go to the backside of Impact Worship's DSP pages and their Distro Kid pages, I can tell more women follow my Instagram account, our church Instagram account. It's like 70% women, 30% men. Same with Christian worship music. It's 70% women, 30. I'm asking, do any men of God want to take responsibility and go, man, I'm going to stand up and be a man of God. And I'm going to get on my knees in public and I'm going to pray and I'm going to lead people to the cross. Like I'm talking about men of God. And we will see this nation run to the throne of God. I think, I think women, this is a verse for you. At the proper time, at the proper time, we'll reap a harvest. If we don't give up, don't give up. Don't stop praying. Don't stop hoping. Don't stop believing for your husband, for your boyfriend, for your fiance, for your child. Anybody got a child you're believing for? Don't stop praying. There's something about a praying mama. There's power in a praying mama. There's
power in a praying grandma. There's power. Listen, God knows, he knows what we need, but he knows when we need it. He's always on time. God, he's, it's not just about the supply. It's also about the schedule. It's, it's, there's these spiritual dominoes that they need to be perfectly aligned, and they need to fall at the exact perfect time. Because this domino is going to affect a thousand dominoes down the road. But, but listen, it cannot happen early. If it happened too soon, it would crush you. If it happened too late, it would miss you. But when it happens on God's time, it blesses you. His time is not dictated by your clock, but by his wisdom. He knows right when to send the rain so that the ground of your life is ready to receive it. He knows when to bring you into the light so that you can withstand the weight of what he is about to give you and do in you. Because here's the truth, a blessing too soon, it becomes a burden. A gift outside of God's timing, it can break what he was meant to bless. So while you and I are staring at the clock, God is orchestrating the cosmos. While you and I are counting the minutes, God is arranging the miracle. Listen, while you're waiting in patience, don't confuse his patience with absence and don't make his timing your trouble. God is at work, God is at work. God sees you, he sees what you need. God is at work, he is at work, he is at work. He is working out your miracle, your miracle is in the making. Don't confuse his patience with his absence.
He's never early, but he's also never late. He's always on time. He is always on time. Did you know one of the fruits of the spirit in Galatians 5.22 is patience? How many know that? You knew that? Patience. There's nine fruits of the spirit. Patience is one of them. We should be producing the fruits of the spirit. Jesus said, by their fruits, you will know them. You know, because there's a lot of Christians and this, don't judge me, don't judge me. I'm not judging, bro. I'm just noticing your fruits. I'm a fruit inspector. I don't see any fruit. I don't see any fruit. I don't see the fruits of the spirit. Don't you judge me like, listen, I'm not. I'm just trying to tell you, I don't see, does anybody in here at all, anybody in here at all, you're like I am and you need patience. Come on, raise your hand. Like you're like me, you need patience. You need to develop that gift. Come on, hand up, keep it up, keep it up. So you guys, I just said you need patience and you were like, yeah, that's me.
Like their hands shot up so fast, man. It's like, how many of you feel like you're very patient? You're a pretty patient person. Raise your hand, raise your hand. Yeah, see, even you, you're like. And the thing is, is if you're impatient, you probably married somebody really patient. It's like God's sense of humor. You know what I'm saying? He's like, Elijah, Moses, watch this. Let's put these two people together and we'll have cheap entertainment like for a long time. Patience is a fruit of the spirit that we need to grow in and mature in, but you never have healthy fruit without healthy root. What does the root system look like in your life? What does the soil of your life, if your life was a tree or a plant, you would want it to be planted and rooted in healthy soil. The question is, what does the soil look like? If the soil isn't healthy, if the roots aren't healthy, the fruits aren't going to be healthy. You can go to church every Sunday and not bear the fruits of the spirit. You can grow older and never grow up in spiritual maturity. There are people that attend church that never become a child of God. There's people that are around it or surrounded by it, but they're never surrendered to it. It's the fruit system and the root system.
I'm about to tell the truth. I had to think through it for a moment, but I decided it's a green light from the Lord. Some of y'all, your life would change, not only if you figure out your circle and change your circle, but start attending church every single Sunday of your life. Stop treating church like it's a I'll go sometimes, I'll go when I need something. I'm gonna go every single Sunday of my life because I love God, because some of you treat church membership like you treat a gym membership, like you got a gym membership, but you never go to the gym. Oh yeah, I'm a member at such and such gym. I don't go to the gym. And you think church and the gym are the same thing. Wait, Pastor Terrence, I got another one. Actually, you treat gym memberships better because at least you give the gym money. Somebody better run around the church building. Come on, somebody, come on, somebody. There's like this thing going around social media, like all these TikTok theologians that are crucifying churches and preachers, and they're going around reviewing churches and preachers. These little pimple face, they're like, oh, I'm gonna go to church. I'm gonna go to church.
I'm gonna go to church. I'm gonna go to church. These little pimple face white kids, I've never seen a brother do it. It's these little pimple face, skinny 20 year old white kids going church to church, destroying the church when the church is the bride of Christ. Them clicks and it gets them views, which makes them money. And if that's anybody in here today, I say, shame on you. Shame on you. Oh, I'm church hurt. Yo. Hey, hey, hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey.
Concept, we ever say, I'm something hurt. You know what I'm saying? We're not like, well, I was at the gym and this trainer kind of hurt my feelings. And like, I'm gym hurt. I'm never going to a gym ever again. I'm gym hurt. You know? He told me I was fat. Well, are you? Would it be better if he said it or she said it in a more like, I don't know, you're a little, I mean, you know, you're got a little extra anointing on you. You know what I'm saying? You go to church, you get church, you guys, church hurt is not a thing. People hurt is a thing. Hurt people hurt people. Hurt people hurt people. Broken people break people. But we have a Jesus, we have a savior. We have a savior who died for the church. The Bible calls the church, which is you and I, the bride of Christ that he gave his life up for. He died for. Because we get reviews sometimes. Google, Yelp, Facebooks, you know, give him a one star. I couldn't find a parking spot. That sounds like a five star to me. That sounds like the Holy Ghost is moving
and there's so many people coming, you couldn't find a parking spot. I like a small church. That's actually unbiblical. Did you know a small church is unbiblical? A small church is unbiblical. And Acts chapter two, it says that they broke bread and they met in homes daily, but they also met in the temple courts, which facilitated 50,000 people at a time. So the idea is that, listen, if there's one person outside these doors that doesn't know Jesus Christ, the church is not big enough yet because we are given to the cause of reaching people and making disciples. And none of this that I just said for the last six minutes was in the other service, but this was definitely for you. This was definitely for you. God, God knows. He knows exactly when I need it. Let's move on. Number three, God knows why. God knows why. You know, this is a good one is like, we think we know why. I think I want something or need something, and I think I know the why, but God actually knows the why. He knows the layers of the layers of the layers of the layers of the why.
So he knows why you need it, and the why is important. It's the thing behind the what, right? And so you remember this verse in Romans 8, 28? This is a great verse. You've heard it. And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose. That's what the full verse says. And we know, come on, let's read it together. And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose. Sometimes God provides in ways that we don't understand because he sees the bigger picture. He sees the why. The manna in the wilderness wasn't about feeding Israel. It was about teaching them to trust him daily. The storm on the Sea of Galilee wasn't just about testing the disciples. It was also about teaching the disciples that even the wind and the waves obey Jesus. So listen, God's why is bigger than your why me. God's purpose is greater than your plan. Because I meet people all the time and they're like, I'm going through some stuff and I just don't know why. Well, you don't have to know why. You just have to know the who and he knows the why. And if you know the who and he knows the why, then you can just trust that his why
is better than your why me. Pastor Terrence mentioned a minute ago about this book. And you said these exact words. You said, it's really not something Pastor Travis wrote, but God did. And that is true because three. Three and a half years ago, on November 14th of 2022, this is a crazy story I'm about to tell you. I suffered a massive brain bleed, hemorrhagic stroke that came out of nowhere, out of nowhere. I was healthy, I wasn't on any medication. I actually had a health report just come back because of a life insurance update. And on a Thursday, I got an A plus rating for my health score. Four days later, on Monday, is when I suffered this stroke. Now watch this, I think what I noticed about being at History Makers Church is this is a very worshiping church. I noticed that during the music and giving praise to God, like everybody's just giving it, man, just singing and dancing and clapping and shouting and crying tears. The worshiping church, our church, Impact Church, man, we love to worship God. And this is crazy because Impact Worship, for the first time in November of 2022, we put out our first worship song that we'd ever written and recorded, and we didn't even know what we're doing.
We had never written a song. We never recorded a song. We never put a song out for the world to listen to on Apple and Spotify and all those things. We wrote this song, and the song dropped on November 11th, 2022. The song title is, He is the Miracle. He is the Miracle. Then on Sunday, I preached a sermon titled, He is the Miracle. And I preached that sermon, and I said, I still believe that God does modern day miracles. I still believe that God raises the dead. I believe that God restores marriages, that He brings dead things back to life, that He sets the addicts free, that He heals the depressed. I believe that God still does what God still does. You know, watch this. Our song, He is the Miracle, on Sunday, it began to chart on the iTunes charts, and we just thought that was so cool. Like, we got into the top 200, and my team was like, Pastor Travis, PT, our song's in the top 200. And I'm like, stop it right now. Then it got into the top 150, then it got into the top 100, then into the top 75, top 50, top 25, top 10. Would you believe the first song that we ever wrote in our whole lives on Sunday, it went all the way to number one on the iTunes charts. We don't even know what we're doing, you know?
We don't even know what we're doing. We're like, that's right, everybody step aside. There's a new king in town. Nah, I'm just kidding. It's not like the song went like platinum or gold, or I don't even think it went like aluminum foil or anything like that. But it did hit number one for just a split second, just long enough for us to screenshot that it hit number one for just a split second. And then the next day on Monday, I needed the very miracle that I just told the world that God does. If you don't think that that is a targeted spiritual attack, then you've got to learn some things about spiritual warfare because the enemy was after me. The enemy is after you. On a Monday, we were at the church office after this incredible weekend, and I had a handful of grapes, and I started dropping grapes. I don't know, just dropping grapes. I don't drop anything, Terrence. Like, I'm an athlete, bro. I don't drop, because I'm a winner. You know what I'm saying? Like, we're winners, bro. I'm dropping grapes. Like, this is the weirdest thing. My hand felt a little bit like, I don't know,
just a little bit numb. I get in the car and I take my daughter Jazzy, and we're going to go to Target to get some stuff, and I'm driving while I'm having a stroke, but didn't know I was, and I'm texting my wife, Natalie, and I said, it's just so weird. I'm dropping grapes, like, for no reason. She calls me frantic, and she's like, Travis, pull over, I'm coming to get you. I'm like, why are you coming to get me? She's like, look back at what you texted me, and I had just jumbled up the words. I didn't say what I thought I had said. To make a really long story short, she came and she picked me up, and we go home. This woman of God is begging me to call 911. I am not calling 911. You know why? Because I'm a man, and men don't call 911. We ain't calling 911. She's begging me, Travis, I said, like, even if I was going to call 911, what would I be like, 911, what's your emergency? I'm dropping grapes, like, I have no idea what, like, you know what I'm saying? I'm like, I'm not calling 911. I said, babe, I'm going to go to bed and take a nap for about an hour. If I feel like this, I don't know, we'll call 911. She's begging me not to.
I go to bed, five minutes into my nap, I didn't sleep. I get up, I'm like, something's not right. She walks in the bedroom at the exact same time. She goes, I'm calling, and she goes around the corner, and I hear her say, I think my husband is having a stroke. Tell you, there was no evidence of me having a stroke. I wasn't slurring my words. My face wasn't droopy. All I did was drop a few grapes. She's, and they said, if you think he's having a stroke, he needs to lay down on his back. So I'm laid down on my back. Pretty soon the paramedics show up. This is no joke, you guys. I'm on my back in my living room. And as I'm laying there, I'm thinking like, you got to go on through all these tests. They're testing this and they're testing that. Pastor Terrence, they even do a stroke test. I passed. You know why? Because I'm a freaking winner. That's why. That's what I'm talking about. I got another winner right there. Come on, somebody. That's exactly why. I'm having a stroke, passing the stroke test because I'm a winner. Now my wife is losing the I'm going to go to ER battle
because she really wants me just to go to ER. And so now she starts trying to control the paramedics with her eyes. You know, she's now like, I really think he needs to go, don't you? You know? So I'm laying on my back. I feel perfectly fine other than I dropped some grapes. I look up at this paramedic, this firefighter, and I said, brother, what do you think I should do? He looked at me and goes, pastor, as a member of your congregation, I think you should go. Don't you love that God sends spiritual firefighters into your life? First one's in, the last one's out, and then God wants you to be a spiritual firefighter in somebody else's life. The first one in and the last one out. I was so okay. I got up and put myself on the stretcher. It's like, I got it guys. Like, what do I do with this thing? And I'm being wheeled out and I'm yelling at my family. I'm like, don't worry dad, I'll be right back. I'm gonna just get some scans. I'll be right back. You guys, I get in the ambulance. I don't remember anything. I don't remember the ride to the hospital.
I was then helicoptered to a level one trauma center. As I was hospitalized, I lost my speech. By the way, I'm a preacher. I lost my memory. I lost my cognition. I lost my motor skills. I was a vegetable. They called my wife and they said, this is not good. She was already at the hospital. And they said, there are the strokes and there's the mother strokes. This one's a big one. The effects of this, this is their exact phrase. The effects of this particular stroke are irreversible. Well, you know, I kind of know this guy who built his entire reputation off of reversing the irreversible because my God is reverse able that he brings dead things back to life. That he brings dead things back to life. That God is reverse able. That he reverses, curses. And what God did for me, he wants to do for you today. Ooh! That was on Monday. On Wednesday when they told my wife that the effects of this particular stroke are irreversible. She heard what the doctor said, but she didn't listen to him. And she went, she said, God, I know what the doctor said, but I need to know what the great physician says.
And she went to the word of God and said, God, I need a word. Cause you really gotta be careful who you listen to. And God took her to this verse in the book of Acts 3.16. We have a picture of it. When I'm in the hospital bed with my wife, Natalie, she put this in her Instagram story at that exact moment. The verse is Acts 3.16, by faith. Remember, I can't talk. I can't walk. I can't think. By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus's name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him. As you can all see history makers, can you all see it today? Because my prayer is that you don't see me. It's that you see our God, that you see hope that I'm a trophy of God's grace, a trophy of God doing the supernatural. That when you look at me, it is a representation of what God is gonna do in and for you. This picture is crazy. Watch this. Because we end up, that picture right there, end up on every news channel in Arizona. Three, five, 10, 12, 15, end up on every news channel. And when it did,
The thing I love most is that That tattoo on my forearm That says Yahweh Because God's gonna get the credit and God's gonna get the glory no matter what Watch this. I'm almost done. I'm almost done On Wednesday, you know They would do that to do a stroke test every hour on the hour and they would say lift your arm touch your nose What day is it? What year is it? What's your name? What's your wife's name? Which I didn't know anything. I can't I can't even talk They said what's your children's name? They said what's your wife's name? What's your what's your I couldn't say anything when they said what's your children's name? I don't know why I said this but I said 40 What's your kids names? I said 40 And it's just something way down deep deep deep deep deep deep deep wait like this hundred mile Deep dungeon I was in or something. I knew this wasn't good and I looked up. This is crazy I looked up at my wife and I tears in my eyes. She had tears in her eyes I said 40 and I looked up at her and I said count it all joy It's plain as day remember, I can't talk and the doctor said what did he just say and Natalie said he's quoting from the Bible from the book of James chapter 1 verse 2 It says count it all joy when you fall into various trials Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience But let patience have its perfect work in you that you may be perfect and complete lacking nothing History makers. I'm trying to tell you I can't remember my own name. I can't remember the love of my life's name I can't remember my baby's names But I can remember a Bible verse in perfect context of the situation that was happening that I could count it all joy When we fell into various trials It's almost like the book of Isaiah is true when it says that God's Word will never return void That's the power of the Word of God that it will never return void Point number four is that God knows how I need it. He knows the how
The how is the cool part because that's the customization of your miracle Because your miracle might not be the same way my miracle is It might be different it might look different I've had so many different God moments listen When I put the book together and Pastor Terrence We're gonna run out because the first service almost bought them, but it is on Amazon, but we did an audio recording where we recorded it on audio and I just remember being in the studio recording this thing and Like given the devil black eye after black eye after black eye because I could talk and not only could I talk I could tell The story so that somebody else could be blessed by the work of God through my life my wife read the intro So the audio intro is her and she read it and that firefighter He read his part from his perspective the coolest thing ever The reason I closed with that is I want you to know that the fire is for you Whatever fire you're going through it is for you not against you Fires purify you fires burn out the impurities out of your life The fire is for you not against you listen with God. There are no wildfires only controlled fires Trust God with the fires of your life It looked like there were only three men in that fire until the fourth was evident and there was a fourth man in the fire and it looked like the Son of God because it was and Shadrach Meshach and Abednego walked out of that fire untouched without a shred of Evidence that they had ever been in the fire. I Want to pray for you. Would you bow your heads with me close your eyes? I want to pray for two things today. If you're here today, and you've never surrendered your life to Jesus Christ I'm saying you've never surrendered you may have gone to church You may have grown up with a mama who went to church like me a praying mama. I grew up with a praying mama I was surrounded by it man. We have Bibles in our house. I was surrounded I had a Bible in my duffel bag for my state championship game in basketball
I didn't even know what I was doing, but I needed some good luck. So I threw a pipe. I was surrounded by it My senior year in high school, I got cited for a DUI driving under the influence I was completely drunk with my basketball coach who was 45 years old and the teacher at the high school and I got arrested and I got put in jail in Phoenix, Arizona And that night my mother came and picked me up from jail and in the same night I went from jail to Jesus in a moment in a blink of an eye Suddenly I went from jail to Jesus suddenly what I'm trying to tell you today is You can do the same thing whatever jail you're in today the jail of fear the jail of depression the jail of failure The jail of brokenness the jail of insecurity that the jail of addiction whatever jail you're in today I am living proof. I am a living breathing walking talking testimony that you can go from jail to Jesus suddenly Because what changed for me is I went from being surrounded to being surrendered Some of you today you've been surrounded But you've never surrendered if you're here today, and you say man I want to surrender my life to Jesus Christ like I really want to give it all I'm in I want to surrender to Jesus Christ would you raise your hand right now so I can pray for you raise your hand I want to surrender to don't don't be shy put it up there I see hands all over the building come on hands hands are all over the building keep it up for just a minute keep It up for just a minute if your hands up. I want you to pray dear Jesus today I surrender my life to you fill me with your Holy Spirit I want to live for you. Thank you Jesus for dying for me So today I give you my life. I say yes Lord to whatever you want to do with it my next question is Anybody in here that says man. I need God to do what only God can do in my life today I need a miracle I need God to do the impossible if that's you raise your hand because I want to pray for you God I pray for every hand that's being lifted right now that needs a miracle They need you to do the impossible Jesus you said with man. This is impossible, but with God all things are possible So God I pray that you do the possible God that you make a way even though there seems to be no way God that you do what only you can do I pray the supernatural power of the Holy Ghost that same power that raised Jesus From the dead the same power that brought me back to life the same power that you gave my wife to pray that staying
Power that praying power God give us let us count it all joy in the meantime We count it joy God because we know that you're at work. We know that you shall supply So God we give it to you. We pray this in your name Jesus. We give it to you We pray this in your name Jesus. We give it to you Yes, amen and amen and amen Just before you go anywhere I just want to just hey Pastor Travis you said when You were in that hospital bed and they asked about what your wife's name and your children's name and you said 40 Now Have you spoke I'm sure you've spoken to God and there's Emma's will listen to your audio book before she left for st. Louis Do you talk about that 40 in that book? Okay So the first time you preach that I'm sitting there going 40 40 40 because that's my number So 40 in the Bible is the number of testing. It's the number of Spiritual transition calling out of one season and into a new season So as you're preaching that I'm asked God. What is this 40? Why did he shout out 40? So you then go and quote this verse that says count it all joy When you face various trials So 40 40 years Moses in the wilderness to prepare him to go back and rescue his people I went on a 40-day fast for God to prepare me to move me from one season to an X Jesus the Bible says was led into the wilderness to be tempted 40 40 the number 40 The fire is for you the fire formed you and the fire forged you Oh Our God is consuming fire Our God is a holy way. Let me say it again. Our God is consuming Our God is a So here's what he said The fire is for you because the fire consumes everything that's not of God The wind blows to increase The oxygen so the fire can burn Some of you walked in here with some things that you cannot walk out this room carrying
Some of you have Sicknesses that are about to hit you and you need the fire of God To forge fortitude in your spirit So I want to just can we just thank pastor Travis for that word pastor Travis Man the whole world needs to hear that message in that testimony. We overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony and I'm just asking the Holy Spirit to do what you prayed that you would continue to allow him to have more of him and I pray that as he gets more of him there'd also be more of you because God says greater things shall you do because my spirit is coming upon you. So Father I just lay hands and I pray a blessing over this man that the word that you've spoken over his life and into his life and what you are doing in his life. God increase his influence. God increase his influence. Increase the voice God. Put an amplifier on the whispers of heaven that you've spoken into his life. God we thank you for open doors, open doors, more open doors that people would hear his story and it would all be for God's glory. We bless him right now in Jesus name. You've gone through the fire and you've come through tested. You've gone through the 40 days. You've gone through the 40 and you have come through tried and true in Jesus name. Amen. Come on let's thank God. Amen.
