Worship | The Great 8 (Transformation Church)

Hi, my name is Michael, and today we are talking about what kind of church we are. So what kind of church are we? We are a church that values worship. We bring our best to God in song, sacrifice, speech, and spirit. We do not apologize for our expression of worship in spirit and in truth. If you've ever been to a Transformation Church service, one thing we always do is worship God. See, the Bible tells us that David worshiped until his clothes came off. Now nobody's clothes is going to come off in here, but we want to keep you in a place to know that when we express ourself to God, it is the truest version of who we were created to be. The Bible says, don't let a rock cry out for you because if you don't worship, I'll make creation worship, and we decided at Transformation Church that that'll never be our story. The truth is, I think many people have misunderstood what worship actually is. We think it's just relegated to a song or a moment in service, but we are supposed to worship God with our entire lives. Let me tell you a story about me. I've been playing drums since I was a toddler, literally two years old, I got my first drum set and I've been doing music ever since. At one point, I even traveled as a teenager with a well-known Oklahoma hero, Wayman Tisdale, and he actually paid me to play drums for him. That's crazy. I've known music my entire life, almost since I came out the womb with a singing mother and a musician father. But the thing that I remember the most is many times I was playing worship music and my heart was far from a place of worship. See, music is an expression of worship, but worship is more than just music. Worship is a lifestyle. Let me give you a definition. Worship is our love expressed to God as a response to his grace towards us.

Because he saved us and he saw us and he kept us and he cleaned us, it deserves a response. And so that's why I lift my hands. That's why I tell the truth. That's why I do things in integrity. It's a response to his grace towards me. Mark chapter 12, verse 30 says, love the Lord your God with all of your heart, with all of your soul, and with all of your mind and with all of your strength. See, worship comes out of the abundance of your love for God. And when we recognize who he is and what he's done for each of us, it shows up in everything that we do. And get this, not just what we do, but how we do it. Because what we believe influences how we worship. That's why John 4, 24 says, God is spirit and his worshipers must worship him in spirit and in truth. See, we don't just worship out of our emotions or based on what somebody else told us. Scripture says that we worship God in spirit, which means his spirit is alive in us. But in the truth of our situation, like what we're going through right now, and in the truth of who he is, which means we recognize who God is in all things. He's doing the work in our real lives. And this is how we show up to worship with our lifestyle. See scripture anchors our worship. Second Timothy chapter three, verse 16 says, all scripture is inspired by God and it's useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. See, God's word is an anchor for us and gives us the ability to worship him in spirit and in truth. Have you ever been on a cruise before, like one of the big Disney cruises or something like that? See, if you do that as a parent, number one, you're going to be exhausted. Your children are going to have an amazing, magical experience.

But those giant cruise ships, they only can be anchored by something that's strong enough to keep them steady in rough waters. We have to anchor to truth that authenticates our worship because it's not just through a song, it's with our entire lives based on the truth in God's word. Here at Transformation Church, we bring our best to God in song. So we're going to sing, but not just the song. We bring our best in our sacrifice. We bring our best in how we use our words in our speech and we bring our best in the spirit or the attitude that we show up with. We do not apologize for expressing our worship in the spirit and in truth everywhere we go. We express worship at the bank. We express worship when we're at the game. We express worship. God and how we treat our husbands, our wives, and our children. We value a lifestyle of worship. When we show up here and worship God through song, it's easy because we have been practicing worshiping God in our lifestyle all week long. See, the way you serve people is worship. The way you love each other is worship. The way you give to one another is worship. Even the way you forgive is worship. Let's take an action step together. Today, I want you to spend some intentional time in worship with song, and I want you to actually think about how God wants you to worship Him when the song ends. For those who need joy, you can put on Transformation Worship Song, Most High God, and I promise you joy will fill your space. If you need God to resurrect the dead situation, you need to know that the King is alive, and three days ain't got nothing on Him. If you're going through a difficult situation, you need to know that God will sustain you. And if you need proof that God is still working miracles, you can put on Evidence, because I am confident that I am evident that He is faithful and He is God. So today, I want you to remember this is who we are. We are a church that values worship. Get ready to live a transformed life.
