Weekly Word Episode 6 | On Habakkuk 3:1-3
here in the feedback. I know you guys love it. I love to do it. So let's get right into it. We're starting our week off right. We're starting it off in the word and today we're gonna be reading in Habakkuk. We're gonna be in chapter 3. We're going through verses 1-3. If you need a little time to get to Habakkuk, you know, it's hard to find. It's a real just short, you know, story in the Old Testament there. And so let's just go ahead and read it. "A prayer of Habakkuk, the prophet according to Shigenoth. O Lord, I have heard the report of you and your work O Lord, do I fear? In the midst of the years, revive it. In the midst of the years, make it known in wrath. Remember mercy." And God came from Timon and the Holy One from Mount Peron. His splendor covered the heavens and the earth was full of his praise. Now the book of Habakkuk, it's little known. It's a, you know, prophet in the Old Testament. One of the minor prophets. And it's a really just interesting story where we see this prayer dialogue that's going on between this this prophet and God. Because at this time period, Habakkuk, he was living in the land of Judah and it was a very just hectic time. He describes it as being violent, as destructive, as wicked. And the people were living just so far from God. And so Habakkuk, he cries out, "Lord, how long are you gonna let this go? When is this gonna be fixed?" You know, he was asking for a resolution and God gave them an answer that he didn't really like. He had told them that another nation was gonna come and, you know, just attack the people and you know, put them into slavery essentially because the people were living wicked. And Habakkuk didn't like it because he said, "Well, those guys, they're even worse than we are. So God, why would you do that to us?" And there's this back and forth, back and forth between the two of them. And God essentially tells Habakkuk that in the end it's all going to be for his glory because, yes, the people, they're gonna go through these hard times. But at the end of it, it's gonna bring them back to God. They're gonna seek him again because they know just how challenging it was to live without him to be going through those trials. And so they go back to God. And ultimately, that's a place that we need to get to in our own lives where we may not always be running
really far from God, but we might get those answers from God that we don't really understand. He might tell us something and we don't see the big picture. It doesn't sound good. It's an issue. It's a trial that we're gonna go through and we don't want to go through it. But ultimately, it's going to lead to his glory. And that's why in chapter three, Habakkuk, he starts praising God because he sees the bigger picture. He knows what it's all about. And he says, "Okay, Lord, thank you. Like you're..." What does he say? In verse three, he says, "His splendor covered the earth and the earth was full of his praise because it all turned back to God." So that's what I want to leave you with today, that these different problems, different trials you might go through, it seems hard. You know, it seems difficult and you might not understand it first. But our goal, our job is to just stay with God. It's to understand that in the end, it will bring his glory. Let's pray. Dear Lord, I thank you so much for this time where we just got to get into your word and learn from it. I pray over everybody that is watching this video this week that those have a blessed week ahead of them. Thank you so much, God. Jesus name, I pray. Amen. Thank you guys for joining me. I'll see you next week.
