Hola, hola chicos. Hoy vamos a hablar de una de las historias de Jesús más famosas que existen. Esta es una de esas historias que incluso las personas que no son cristianas conocen, porque es simplemente tan dramática. Lo que hace Jesús es tan vívidamente contrastante, tan diferente de las otras cosas que parece hacer, que simplemente resuena con nosotros. Así que lo diría de esta manera. ¿Alguna vez te has sentido frustrado con el estado de la religión organizada? Si alguna vez has sido herido por personas de la iglesia, mira a la persona que tienes al lado, siéntelo. Si alguna vez te has preguntado cómo se siente Dios acerca de la iglesia que ha perdido el rumbo, esto es para ti. Hoy el ministerio público de Jesús irrumpe de una manera dramática cuando Jesús se enoja. Así que hoy conoceremos al Jesús enojado. Este es un Jesús que muchos de nosotros no hemos conocido antes y lo encontramos en uno de sus momentos más controvertidos. Si eres nuevo, hoy estamos en la octava semana de nuestro año en el libro de Juan. Y hasta ahora, por así decirlo, Jesús ha estado en los suburbios. Ha estado en Beaufort, por Esmirna, en Duluth o en East Point. Lo vimos en El Jordán, en Capernaum, Pueblo Pesquero. La semana pasada en Cana y por Galilea, convirtiendo el agua en vino. Pero hoy al final de Juan 2, Jesús lleva a sus discípulos al centro de la ciudad. Ellos van a la gran ciudad, van a Jerusalén. Y aquí nos encontramos en el versículo 13 de Juan capítulo 2. Cuando ya casi era tiempo de la pascua judía, ese es el contexto, la pascua, Jesús subió a Jerusalén. Y en los patios del templo encontró a personas vendiendo ganado, ovejas y palomas. Y a otros sentados en mesas cambiando dinero. Así que hizo un látigo. De cuerdas y expulsó a todos del templo, tanto a las ovejas como al ganado. Esparció las monedas de los cambistas y volcó sus mesas. Y a los que vendían palomas les dijo, saquen esto de aquí. Dejen de convertir la casa de mi padre en un mercado.

Y sus discípulos recordaron que está escrito, el celo por tu casa me consumirá. Entonces los judíos le respondieron, ¿qué señal? ¿Recuerden esto? Recuerden a Juan. Él no llama a nada milagro. Las señales apuntan a una realidad mayor, más allá de sí mismas. Por eso le preguntan, ¿qué señal nos das Jesús para probar tu autoridad? Jesús les dijo, destruyan este templo y lo levantaré en tres días. Ellos respondieron, este templo se construyó en 46 años. Y tú lo levantarás en tres días. Pero él hablaba del templo, de su cuerpo. Y después de que resucitó de entre los muertos, sus discípulos recordaron lo que había dicho. Entonces creyeron en la escritura y en las palabras que Jesús había dicho. Uf, muy bien, hay mucho que desentrañar aquí, ¿de acuerdo? Así que hay toda una cultura que se superpone a esta historia. Para la mayoría de nosotros, al verla dos mil años después en Estados Unidos, la vemos con ojos diferentes a los originales. La gente escuchó esto. Así que permítanme pintar un poco la escena. Jesús acababa de salir de Cana en el norte para ir a Jerusalén en el sur. Juan vincula estas historias porque Jesús dejó tinajas de piedra en Cana para ir a un templo de piedra en Jerusalén. Las conecta teológicamente. Y sobre el templo, aquí está el asunto. La mayoría de nosotros no sabemos mucho sobre él. De hecho, se decía que Jerusalén no era una ciudad. Jerusalén era un templo con una ciudad construida a su alrededor. Porque así de importante era la ciudad. Pensamos en edificios de iglesias. El templo no era un edificio de iglesia. Pensamos en edificios como este.

El templo no era eso. Este es un lugar al que venimos para encontrarnos con Dios. El templo era donde Dios habitaba en la tierra físicamente. Toda la vida, todo pensamiento, toda actividad giraba en torno al templo. Te despertabas pensando en el templo. Toda la vida, todo, todo. Todas las flechas apuntaban hacia el templo. Y en 1 Reyes 6, no vamos a ir allí. Puedes leerlo luego. Aquí es donde Salomón construyó el templo original. Dios no permitió que el rey David lo edificara por ser un hombre de guerra. Y por eso Salomón, el hijo de David, recibió la tarea de construir el templo. Y así Dios dio todas las instrucciones y el oro y la plata y las obras de arte y los sacerdotes. Fue increíble cuando terminaron de construirlo. El Espíritu de Dios llenó el templo. Construyeron el templo en el Monte Moriah, donde Abraham fue a sacrificar a Isaac. Allí hacían los sacrificios, donde Dios envió el carnero en el matorral. O sea, todo está ahí junto. Pero aquí está el problema. El hijo de Salomón, Roboam, se rebeló contra Dios. Dios divide el reino en dos. Los Babilonios llegan en el año 586 a.C. Destruyen el templo. Lo saquean, lo roban, se llevan todo. Unos años después. Well, Zorobabel begins to rebuild the temple, but they don't have enough staff, no resources, it's just a shadow of his glory. Let's move on. 500 years later, in the year 20 BC, Herod. The Great Rebuilds the Temple in Jerusalem.

Calling him the Great is a mistake, because he was a terrible person. He had nothing great. He was the one who ordered the killing of all babies after the birth of Jesus. Herod the Great was officially named as the King of Judea by Octavian in Rome. The Great Caesar in Rome. He was placed there with the firm purpose of ruling over the whole people. They called him the Great because he built great buildings. They said that it was safer to be the pig of King Herod than his son, because being kosher he wouldn't kill pigs, but he did kill his wife, his mother-in-law, and three children. This is a terrible person, but he built great buildings. So, from 20 BC to 64 AD, when Jesus turned the tables, the temple was still under construction. I don't know if you've ever imagined that. When Jesus turned the tables, they were still working there. The calculations are these. 18,000 men worked 84 years to build it. They had never seen anything like this before. We see this in another story, Mark 13. When Jesus left the temple, a disciple said to him, Look, Master, what big stones and buildings. They had never seen anything like this before. Herod discovered everything with gold. It was amazing. It was one of the wonders of the world. Let me quickly show you the temple, which is the scene of John, chapter 2. Here we have this detailed image of what is the Temple Mount in this part. The Temple of Solomon was located very close to the footprint of that building in the center. King Herod built the complex to create those walls there. In fact, that footprint is still there to this day. If you go to Jerusalem, you will see a similar footprint right here.

This is the Temple Mount. The lower steps may not be exact, but they are the Southern Steps, where Peter preached in Pentecost. 3,000 people were saved there, right in those Southern Steps. The Mount of Olives is on the right. This outer area within the walls, but surrounding the central building, was called the Patio de los Gentiles. It was the place where non-Jews, or those who were curious about God, could enter the grounds of the temple to worship, speak about God, and be close to Him. And that building in the center, you see the arches there, is where Jewish women could enter. That was called the Women's Courtyard. But within this, we have this other image. Do we see it? It is artificial intelligence. So, be patient. But according to history, this is very precise. Notice how everything shines, because it is pure gold. It is literally gold. So, this is where men could come. And do you see that in the center? The fire there? That is the altar. And so, the story is something like this. The men would enter and place their hands on the head of a sheep for their sins, or for the sins of their family, so that they would basically be transferred to that sheep. That sheep would carry the sins of their family. And then he would say, the pastor, the priest, would take the sheep, come with me.

He would cut off his neck. They would capture the blood in a bowl. They would go up to the altar. And while they were throwing the blood against the side of the altar, they would say, this is the blood of Johnson. The blood of Sommer, the blood of Jeremiah, and this is Isaac. This is the blood of my family. Why? Because that being bled and died in my place. Connect some points this morning. Well, this is the greatest prophetic omen. This is where the men could enter. The priest could cross that line, and even enter the first room of the sanctuary, or the holy place of the temple, right there. And then, once a year, the high priest could enter the final room, which was called the holy place, where he would do, on the day of forgiveness, he would expiate the sins of the whole nation. This is the general vision of the temple. And then, if you go back and go away, Jesus enters the temple, but not in this area. He enters what is called the courtyard of the gentiles, that area around that building, and begins to turn tables, okay? So this is something about which we have to be honest. Jesus turning tables is not the image that most people have of Jesus, right? Very well, what image do you have in your mind of Jesus? When you think about it, just imagine that image. Some of you have questions.

He has long and loose hair he has exercised and is a little tanned some imagine him with a white tunic purple band and a sheep, you know making this gesture many imagine Jesus on a hill teaching children, right? or maybe you grew up in a Catholic family with the Holy Heart where he makes this gesture raising two fingers and pointing to his heart but here is my promise no one has in their aunt's house an image of Jesus with his eyes lit turning tables, angry with a whip in his hand people running, animals fleeing hanging in the dining room while they eat chicken just looking at him think about it guys, most of us don't know that Jesus but if I'm honest today, we need to know that Jesus that is the message, after all we need to know that Jesus because Jesus is loving but not passive he is gentle but not weak yes, he may be the lamb but he is also the roaring lion of Judah and here is the thing, until now in John and really in no other part of the book of John

we see Jesus as we see him here which brings us to the question what caused this reaction? why was Jesus really so angry during that day? and if I could say it like that why was Jesus so angry that day? and what does that have to do with us today? very well, let's analyze it for a moment okay? this is the first great idea Jesus was very angry because the temple had been corrupted the great idea is that they lost the purpose they forgot what this is all about so let's go back quickly to verse 13 when the time of Easter was approaching which is the moment of the liberation of slavery in Jewish history Jesus went up to Jerusalem in the atriums of the temple he found sellers of oxen, sheep, and pigeons and camels sitting after making a whip of ropes he threw them all with his animals he spread the coins of the shepherds and turned over their tables and to those who sold pigeons he said take them out of here stop turn my father's house into a market very well, a little more history I'm going to pile it up here

it's Easter and it is estimated according to the books of history that from 300,000 to 500,000 people peregrinated from all over the world to Jerusalem in essence, the population of the city doubled or even more it is estimated that at any time there would be 300,000 people in the mount of the temple that image that you just saw 300,000 people is basically the equivalent of Jesus going to Times Square on New Year's Eve it's chaos the historian Josephus in fact, tells that 256,000 sheep were sacrificed on the day of Pentecost 256,000 that's a lot of sacrifice that's a lot of blood that really is covering a lot of sin that's a lot of blood death for sin this is the idea and the background of what happens it was not realistic that thousands of pilgrims brought their own animal it simply was not feasible

if you come from far away you can't bring a sheep all the way what are you going to do? so the context is that the sale of the animals used to take place outside the temple in fact, I only have one more image that I'm going to show you so the sale of the temple used to take place in the green area in fact, if we go back even more it used to take place in the Mount of Olives on the other side of the valley of Cedron here on the right and then they moved it to this green area in fact, I just saw a video this week they have excavated all this they have discovered the stables where they tied the animals to sell them it's there for example, you can visit it when the world is at peace and there is no war for example, you can go there that's why I want you to catch that guy catch the anxiety that is being generated before, they were sold far away then, outside the doors towards the year 30 of Jesus Christ the High Priest Caiphaz allowed the sale

to take place inside the temple they went from being far away at the entrance and finally inside to the courtyard of the Gentiles specifically in front, in that column do you see all those columns just at the bottom of the image? that was called the Royal Stoa so basically, when you entered the temple it was like a Cosco I'm not kidding 300,000 people and animals everywhere, so the question is, why did Jesus get so angry that day? it was chaos Let's analyze this story briefly. Well, the corrupt leaders were exploiting the people. That enraged Jesus. Corrupt leaders exploit people. In Luke 20 he warns, be careful with the teachers of the law, they love money and power. Be careful. So this is the situation. Think about it. You can't bring an animal on such a long journey, so you have to come to the temple and buy it. The point is that if you brought your own animal close by, that animal should be free of defects. It had to be perfect. Remember, this represents the life without sin of Jesus. Everything is a prophecy, so it had to be flawless. Now, here's the question. Who determines if it's flawless or not? Who has the last word? Well, they had temple inspectors who were employed by the temple, so they approached the animal you brought. Maybe you raised it and brought it. And they said, no, no, you can't use that one. What are you saying? It's the best I have. This one has no defects. No, it doesn't. They say, what do I do? Well, you can buy a lamb from our suppliers and already approved cattle. If you open a temple credit card, we have a fantastic rate for you. You can join our program. It's 11 and 12 is free. And they say, that's... And what happened was that the leaders were in charge of everything and were receiving bribes,

so everything was a scam. Can I say it like that? The problem was that they had monetized repentance. Jesus turns the tables because they turned worship into a business. Jesus is angry at the corruption of the leaders. And there's another thing that makes him angry. The corruption of worship and the lack of respect for worship. So think about this, okay? The temple, the atriums, all that area, is supposed to be full of worship, prayer, and conversations about God. With the scent of incense in the air, okay? Now think about this. Now, because they brought the animals inside, you no longer smell the incense. Have you ever been to a farm, okay? You come in and you smell that. You don't hear worship. You hear sheep baaing. You hear the crowing of the pigeons. And you also hear the moos. That's what you hear. You hear this guy over there shouting about his offer of lambs. In fact, it's documented. They sold souvenirs in the temple, right? Toys for your children. Because the temple was so big and it took up so much space, instead of surrounding it, people would go through it, like a shortcut. And Jesus is offended. Because this place of worship is supposed to be a house of prayer. Now it's a Costco. It's a big Sam's Club. Yes, this is a Walmart. It's no longer a house of prayer. Now it's just a place of lack of respect. Everyone enjoys the day. They laugh, trade, and exchange money. This is the third reason why Jesus was so angry. In the end, because they were preventing those outside of the temple from having faith. Think about this. They treated the Gentiles' area as less sacred than theirs. And so, the system was designed so that those inside would keep those outside out. They made people feel that they no longer belonged to the house of God. Listen. That's what made Jesus angry. And I think that's what still makes Jesus angry. Let's talk about that. What is it that still makes Jesus angry? Let's look at it again.

Corrupt leaders exploiting the people. Very good. We've all read these stories. You just have to scroll a couple of times on social media and you'll find another story of pastors in love with money. Come on, can we talk about that? Very soon for that. I'm already there. And you guys? Can you? Good. Maybe some of you used to go to a church. And luckily, this one isn't like that. But listen. Some went to churches where they couldn't hire anyone or pay for electricity because the pastor took everything. I've met so many pastors without a vision or a call who are still in the pulpit just to make a living from it. You're in the pulpit for a salary, right? Or was there abuse of power? There was a subtle message. You must come to our church if you don't lose yourself in God. You must have our coverage if you don't run into danger. You must be baptized or you'll be lost, right? And what is that? It's a play on power to consolidate control and prevent you from leaving. So that they have power, reputation, pride, and ego. Or maybe there was sexual abuse inside a church you come from. Or maybe you've only seen it and it stained everything. And what happens is this. Pastors can fall into this matter of feeling entitled. And that's how it sounds, okay?

I wonder, how do you know that, Johnson? tomarse las cosas con calma antes de tener sexo con su novio y yo estoy ahí sentado pensando cómo nos atrevemos cómo nos atrevemos vas a salir en la televisión nacional y decir que eres cristiana y luego sentarte ahí a hablar de aquello por lo que jesús derramó su sangre como si estuvieras presumiendo de ello hay sexting el sábado luego buscamos perdón el domingo que lo cubra llegamos levantamos las manos el domingo On Sunday and Monday, we steal when we go to work and drink from the sin of this world. And then we enter here as if everything were fine. It's not fine. It's not fine. Jesus says it himself, Matthew 15, 8. He says, This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. And friends, there is a problem when we are very noisy with our lips, but our heart is very quiet with respect to the things of God. One of the most disturbing quotes is from the one who said, Christians don't tell their lies, they sing them. We get to a song like the one we just sang in Adoration and we say, Jesus, I love you, but it's a lie, be careful. Be careful, because you will pay for every idle word you say. Some will say, I'm so in love with Jesus now. Great. Sing the song. Some of you say, I'm sorry, but I want to love Jesus. You're not a hypocrite. Sometimes you have to say, praise the Lord, my soul, we will do the same. Listen, I'm not calling you. I'm saying, if you don't want to sing, do it anyway. Very good. But if you say, Jesus, I love you, and it's not true, nor do you feel it, better shut up.

Keep your mouth shut, because you will pay for those words. This is the problem, guys. For many, they are just words. But we easily join the culture that criticizes the church in general. I'm the first to say that the church has a problem. What is the problem? It's us. Because we are the church. The church is not the building. The church is its people. Jesus is not the problem in the church. We are the problem. I'm sorry, this church was perfect before you got here. The sermon was perfect before you got on the platform, but I ruined it with my words. As for people, the human flesh touches them. Everything is corrupted. But I say we must be careful, guys. We love to criticize others and ignore our own heart. The problem is that we treat the sacred as common, lacking respect for the presence of God, by doing what we want outside and then entering here. Or as if there were no problems and no regret in the heart. I'm not saying you're perfect, but we must have humility in our way of acting. We have to approach this with fear and tremor. Are we talking about the Holy God? Jesus is still outraged at the lack of respect and worship. He has the right to do so, because this prevents the faith of others. Jesus was outraged that day because they prevented those who sought God from approaching.

It's a problem that a church has big meetings, but ignores its community. There are problems in a church of great worship. We have big meetings, but we neglect those who come for the first time. Can I ask you a question? Are you kind to people you don't know in this church? We are few. Great. Now, let me be real. This will be obvious. It wasn't last night when I preached. Today will be very obvious, and today I'm not talking about you. Actually, I'm talking about you next week. So take today and apply it then, okay? Here you have an evaluation question to know if you really love those in this church. You only need two seats, but you demand three? Because there are people sitting in the overflow right now because you needed a little extra space to stretch your elbows. That's why I didn't say today. Next week. Very good. And even though I'm not looking at you, I can see you all now. But what I'm saying is that someone wanted to come in, but couldn't because there wasn't enough space. That's not love for your neighbor. That's loving yourself. That's something from within. It's not welcoming the outsider. It's a great question. Do you have your seat? I've never heard this before, but they say it happens in this church.

They say that someone comes up to you and says, Hey, that's my seat. Now, here's the thing. I've instructed the staff that if they ever hear someone say, That's my seat, they take you to your seat. Okay, we've reserved that seat for you. Next to the cross in the parking lot. It's in the deepest and rearmost area of the parking lot. But I've been there for exactly 15 years. I know, I'll embroider your name on that seat myself. We're going to inaugurate a whole new section of seats out there. We'll reserve seats here and you'll have your place back there. You'll be able to see the transmission live on your phone. It'll be amazing. We'll put a speaker outside. Listen, let's reserve our seats at the end. On this Easter, be the first to give your place to someone who doesn't know Jesus. That should be our attitude. Because Jesus, what we see, is that he gets more angry when people prevent others from approaching Him. Think about that. When they didn't let the children approach Him. When religious leaders charged people with rules without helping them. Here in the temple, when they excluded those from outside, Jesus' eyes burned. Jesus gets angry because of that. That's what makes Jesus angry. And he sits down and does something that doesn't seem very much like Christ. He just observes and whips. What's going on here? Jesus is talking about corruption in the temple. The second thing is that the temple had to be cleaned.

So Jesus enters a corrupted temple and whips to clean it. Now, to be clear, someone sent me the episode of The Chosen about this. If any of you have seen it. Jesus doesn't have a bull whip like the one of a lion tamer. Reformulate this in your mind. He actually says a rope whip, which is this long, just to make an animal move. So Jesus doesn't have a chair in his hand. He's like, ah, right? He's like murdering people, sending them to the hospital. That's not what's happening. Jesus is acting like an animal, like to make an animal move. He's just clearing everything. Very good. Some will say, why? I don't think that's right, Jesus. Let me explain. So Jesus doesn't hurt people, but he's whipping them. Here's the detail. It wasn't the whip of a tamer, but it was still a whip. It's still a whip. And I know that some of us may find that mental image difficult. Because maybe some of us were taught that being angry is being in sin. But it's not like that. Ephesians 4 says this. Get angry, but don't sin. So Jesus had what's called just anger. Just anger. Have you ever seen something that makes you angry? Have you ever seen an innocent person being used? Treating them like soldiers in the RDC? Something like that.

And you just hit the table with your hand. You say, that's not right. That happens. That's how it is. It's not that Jesus is just angry, hurting people. No, it's Jesus seeing what this should be. And that provokes something inside him. And his eyes light up. He starts turning the tables. He starts expelling people to restore the purity of his original purpose. By doing this, the disciples remember Psalm 69. Jealousy for your house consumes me. Jealousy for the house of God. Why did Jesus feel jealous? Being jealous is being passionate. What did Jesus feel passionate about? He felt passion for the honor of God. He felt passion for the purity of worship. In fact, I was recently reading Numbers. In the book of Numbers, God warns the Israelites. Hey, don't marry foreigners. Because they are going to bring their idols and idolatry that will separate their hearts from God. And basically, while God is talking to the people, this guy comes in with this girl and gets into his store. And Phineas, one of the priests, takes a spear, comes in and pierces both of them with it. A shocking moment. Numbers 25. Numbers 25.

And God says this, Phineas, son of Eleazar, has removed my anger from the Israelites because I am as jealous of them as I am. Listen, I warn you, I am not telling you to kill anyone. Listen to the words that are coming out of my mouth. Well, that is not the purpose of this moment. What I am saying is that we have a jealous God and He is looking for people who are so jealous that He is jealous. He is looking for people who are jealous of what He is jealous of. And why is God jealous? He is jealous of you, jealous of your purity, jealous of His glory and of His kingdom. Let it come. And I know that some of you right now are thinking, brother, lower it. No, brother, raise it. Because our problem is that we are no longer jealous of God's things. We are jealous of everything else. But when it comes to Jesus, we say, oh, just look at the nine for this. Take that off for the week. And we are no longer jealous of God's things. And if we are really honest, really honest, we love this world more than God. And John talks about that later in 1 John. He says,

Do not love the world or what is in it. He who loves the world lacks the love of the Father. For the worldly things, desires of flesh, eyes, and vanity, viene del padre, el mundo y sus deseos pasan, pero quien hace la voluntad de Dios permanece. Esto sucede hoy, amigos. Creo que Jesús está harto y cansado de la iglesia, que señalan con el dedo y dicen, oh, miren a las personas trans, mira a los homosexuales de allá cuando tenemos problemas sin resolver. Somos hipócritas creyéndonos superiores. Dios busca a quienes digan, Dios, empieza conmigo. Búscame. Dale la vuelta a las tablas de mi corazón, Dios, porque quiero compartir tu pasión por lo mismo que a ti. Y Dios siente pasión por mi amor, mi afecto y mi pureza. Anhela restaurar su gloria en la iglesia,

que sea un lugar donde quienes no conocen a Jesús sientan el manto del amor de Dios y el manto del amor del pueblo de Dios. Dile, toma mi asiento. Yo iré a la zona de desbordamiento. No te quedes ahí sentado. Entra y vívelo tú mismo. Él busca a quienes digan, Jesús, limpia este templo. Empieza aquí, Señor. Empieza aquí. ¿Por qué? Jesús vio que el templo estaba corrompido, lo limpió y entendió que debía ser reconstruido. Así que entra en un templo corrompido, lo limpia y esto dicen. En el versículo 18, los judíos le responden, ¿qué pecado? El mío. ¿Qué señal nos das? Jesús respondió, destruyan este templo y lo reedificaré en tres días. Ellos dijeron, en 46 años se edificó este templo. ¿Y tú lo vas a levantar? Pero el templo del que hablaba era su cuerpo. Y recuerden, amigos, les tomó 84 años construir este templo. Y entonces escuchan a Jesús decir, lo voy a levantar en tres días. Y ellos piensan, primero, eso es imposible.

Segundo, ¿qué señal nos muestras que pruebe tu autoridad para hacer esto? Nota lo que no se dice. No dicen, Jesús acaba de voltear las mesas. Él echó a todos fuera. Él expulsó a los cambistas. Él hizo todo eso. Fíjate, nadie dice, Jesús, no deberías hacer eso. Todos sabían que tenía que hacerse. Sabían que los líderes eran corruptos, el culto impuro y que excluían gentiles, pero nadie hacía nada. Jesús, ¿con qué autoridad haces esto? Y ellos dicen, Jesús, ¿qué autoridad tienes sobre el templo? Y Jesús los mira y dice, ¿qué autoridad tengo sobre el templo? Yo soy el templo. Yo soy el templo. Yo soy el lugar donde Dios toca la tierra. ¿Quieres una señal? Mátame y volveré en tres días. ¿Quieres una señal? Solo espera hasta el domingo. Llévame el viernes. Nos vemos en unos minutos. ¿Quieres una señal? Creo que una de las cosas más impresionantes, Jesús dijo en Mateo 12, 6. Les digo, aquí hay algo más grande que el templo.

Habla de sí mismo. Su vida y mundo era el templo. Jesús dice, soy superior a eso. Soy más grande que eso. Y ni siquiera se dan cuenta. Y lo que hace Jesús es lo que lo vemos hacer a lo largo de todo el libro de Juan. Recuerden, vimos esto la semana pasada. Él entra, rellena y reemplaza el viejo sistema en bancarrota. Él dice, oigan, eso está roto más allá de toda reparación. Así que Dios ha enviado algo mejor para rellenarlo, cumplirlo y reemplazarlo. Y está hablando de sí mismo. Porque el templo era el lugar donde Dios habitaba en la tierra. Era donde podías adorar y hablar con Dios. La noticia es, al morir Cristo en la cruz y ser sepultado al tercer día, la piedra rodó. Unos días después, Él asciende al cielo. Avancemos unas semanas. En Pentecostés desciende el Espíritu Santo y ahora ya todo ha cambiado. El apóstol Pablo lo dice así en 1 Corintios 6. Él dice, ¿no saben que ahora sus cuerpos son templos del Espíritu Santo que está en ustedes y que recibieron de Dios? Ustedes no se pertenecen a sí mismos. Fueron comprados por un precio. Por lo tanto, chicos, escuchen.

Honren a Dios con sus cuerpos. Dios ya no vive en una casa construida por manos humanas. Él vive en ti. Él vive en ti. Escuchen, chicos, buenas noticias. No tienen que subirse a un avión, recaudar dinero y volar a Jerusalén y esperar a que termine una guerra y hacer fila e intentar echar un vistazo al templo. ¿Puedo acercarme al lugar santísimo? Ya no tienen que hacer eso porque ahora mismo el templo está aquí. El templo está en ti. Dios vive dentro de ti. Gracias por toda esta historia. Me encanta muchísimo. Miren, los judíos lloran la destrucción del templo desde el año 70. Poco después de la ascensión de Jesús, Roma lo destruyó y sigue en ruinas hoy en día. Aún hoy puedes ir y ver las piedras que empujaron. Están tumbados en el suelo junto al templo. En el 600 los musulmanes tomaron el templo. Sobre el lugar santísimo alzaron la cúpula de la roca para mostrar superioridad ante los judíos, impidiéndoles el acceso al monte del templo. No se permite el paso. Por eso el lugar más cercano es a la izquierda del mapa en el Muro Occidental o de los Lamentos. ¿Por qué van todos los judíos allí? Porque no hay nada de especial en ese muro.

Es simplemente lo más cerca que pueden estar de donde solía estar el lugar santísimo. Todavía están tratando de acercarse a donde habita Dios. Todavía están intentando rascar y avanzar, preguntándose si pueden acercarse un centímetro más, tratando de excavar en la pared. ¿Puedo acercarme un poco más allá? Quiero que notes que los cristianos no lloran por esto. Sí, es una tragedia que los musulmanes tengan el control. Es una burla todo eso. Pero escucha, no lloro por el estado del templo porque ese no es mi templo. Porque ahora Jesús ha establecido su morada aquí adentro. No tienes que ir allá para visitar el templo. El templo está justo aquí. El templo de Dios ahora está en nosotros. Eso significa que el lugar para encontrarnos con Dios está aquí mismo. El lugar para hablar con Dios está aquí mismo. Y el lugar para adorar a Dios está aquí mismo. La morada de Dios en la tierra está en ti y lo llevas las 24 horas del día. Si has nacido de nuevo, eres un templo ambulante, parlante y móvil y Jesús vive dentro de ti. Eso significa que Jesús ya no está interesado en limpiar un edificio físico de piedra. Él está más interesado en limpiarte a ti. Y por aquí está mi invitado especial en sobriedad. Cuando naciste de nuevo por primera vez, eras celoso por las cosas de Dios.

¿Puedes recordar eso? Éramos apasionados. La gente decía, amigo, cálmate. Pero tal vez sea posible que de manera muy gradual con el tiempo, los cambistas se hayan mudado y hayan montado su tienda en tu alma. Quizás la corrupción que expulsaste ha vuelto y se ha instalado en tu alma. Hay una deriva lenta. Solo quiero hacerte esta pregunta. Si esa versión de ti que acababa de ser salvada entonces viera a la persona que eres hoy, ¿qué crees que te diría? ¿Son tus convicciones tan insensibles que el pecado ya no se elimina? Porque hoy es el día en que el templo se limpia. Voy a invitarte, si puedes, ¿por qué no te pones de pie? Vamos a tener un momento con el Señor justo aquí. Esta es la gran pregunta que nos hacemos en este preciso momento. ¿Qué en mi mundo realmente necesita ser volteado y expulsado? ¿Qué en mi templo, qué en mi corazón? No estoy hablando de los demás. Estoy hablando de mí. Necesitas ser volteado y expulsado en el nombre de Jesús. Y ahora la pregunta es esta. ¿Quién tiene la autoridad para hacer eso? Solo Jesús. Jesús porque le perteneces a Él. Le perteneces a Él. Él tiene autoridad sobre tu templo y tu vida. Y así es como lo diría, amigos.

Si ya has identificado qué es eso que se ha metido en el templo y debes salir, simplemente te invito a salir de tu asiento y venir adelante. Vamos a llenar este altar en los próximos minutos. Empieza a acercarte. Esto es lo que estamos diciendo. Jesús voltea las mesas en mi corazón. Jesús hace un látigo y expulsa todo lo que no pertenece aquí. Esto es lo que estamos diciendo. Dios mío, si me roba la ternera, que se vaya. Escucha, no te creas esa mentira de que al envejecer pierdes la pasión. Dices, antes me apasionaba, pero solo por ser joven. Tenía mucha más energía. No. No. Ese es tu corazón. Eso significa que tu corazón se endureció. Ese es tu corazón que se enamoró de las redes sociales y de los ladrones de tiempo. Hay que expulsarlo. Ese es tu corazón que tal vez se enamoró de la moral sexual y te alejó del amor a Cristo. Tal vez tu corazón empiece a plamar el dinero. Te preguntas, ¿cómo llegué hasta aquí? Siempre dije que nunca sería así. Y entonces levantas la cabeza y eres eso. Dios, sácalo. Quiero ser puro con la comida otra vez. Quiero volver a ser puro con el alcohol y las drogas.

Quiero serlo sin un espíritu religioso. Escuchen, algunos tenemos un espíritu crítico y nos la pasamos señalando a los demás. Permítanme recordarles, el espíritu crítico no es un don del espíritu. Es una maldición que has dejado entrar en tu vida. Es hipersítico. Solo di, Dios, voltea a esa mesa hoy, sácalo. Algunos estamos atrapados en tradiciones de hombres. ¿No lo harías? No lo harías. Debo hacerlo perfecto para que Dios me ame, oro para que él voltee la mesa. El Señor pregunta, escuchen, algunos aún debemos movernos, no es solo llegar aquí, se trata simplemente de tener movimiento, es esto. ¿Quieres volver a sentir? Porque eso es lo que hace el pecado, el pecado nos insensibiliza. ¿Quieres volver a sentir? ¿Quieres decirlo de verdad cuando digas, Jesús, te amo de nuevo? Y así, ahora mismo, Dios bautiza este momento con el Espíritu del Señor. Y ahora, Padre, ¿te damos permiso? De hecho, simplemente dilo con tus propias palabras. Jesús, te doy permiso. Entrada ahora en este templo y expulsad todo lo que no pertenece aquí. Si está corrompido, si ama otras cosas además de ti, échalo de tu vida. Tienes que saber que la autoridad está sobre este sagrado templo para limpiarlo y para purificarme profundamente de toda injusticia. Tú eres Dios, pero también eres mí, Dios. Tú eres el Rey y también eres mi Rey. Luego, inclino mi vida ante ti, soy tuyo. Tú eres mío, perdóname en este momento.

Recibo esto, pero ahora mismo límpiame. Expulsa la oscuridad. Te doy permiso. Purifica este templo. Jesús, aquí mismo, quédémonos un poco más. Que el Señor obre aquí unos tres o cuatro minutos. Equipo, ¿por qué no suben? Ahora los invito a que vamos a cantar juntos una canción sobre Jesús. Te amo. Deja que el Señor vuelva a ser su realidad en tu vida.
