Cómo Escuchar la Voz de Dios || Victory Church

Buenos dias a todos. Oigan, en el calendario, aunque no lo crean, literalmente hoy, 16 de agosto de 2026, es el sexto aniversario exacto de summer. Y que fuéramos pastores principales aquí en Victory, es increíble. O sea, el día exacto. ¿Qué viaje? Si volvemos seis años atrás, al 16 de agosto de 2020, es difícil recordar lo que pasaba. COVID es todo un mensaje. Es un desastre. Pero ha sido todo un viaje. Y sé que estamos hablando de lanzar Victory Tequila, pero también me hace mirar hacia atrás. Y Summer y yo entramos a trabajar aquí hace ya más de 20 años. Y tuvimos el placer de dirigir a nuestros jóvenes adultos durante unos cinco o seis años. Y luego fuimos a Hamilton Mill, y lanzamos ese campus en agosto de 2010, y estuvimos allí durante diez años. Y de hecho, unos años después de lanzar Hamilton Mill, estaba en oración. Y esto es como 2000, tal vez. Tal vez 12, y lo llamo oración. No sé si pueden identificarse con esto. Lo llamo oración. En realidad, solo me estaba quejando ante Dios, no con Dios, sino como hacia Dios me estaba quejando. Y simplemente llamamos a eso oración.

Y de lo que me quejaba era de que donde vivíamos, ya saben, Atlanta es rara. Estamos todos dispersos. Y entonces tus patrones de tráfico te llevan a ciertos lugares, pero no a otros. Así que donde vivíamos en Lawrenceville, nadie sabía siquiera qué era Hamilton Mill en aquel entonces. Y por eso era muy difícil invitar a nuestros vecinos y amigos a la iglesia. Y simplemente me estaba quejando con Dios. Siento que no estamos ganando terreno aquí. Y me estoy frustrando. Y Dios tuvo la audacia de interrumpir mi tiempo de oración. Y dijo cuatro palabras. Dijo, necesitas mudarte. Necesitas mudarte. Y recuerdo haber pensado como, muévete para que puedas sentarte. No, como, necesitas mudarte. Y supe lo que me estaba diciendo, que necesitábamos vender nuestra casa y que necesitábamos mudarnos más cerca de allí, a ese campus. Y con toda mi fe pastoral, ¿sabes lo que dije? No. Pensé, no vamos a hacer eso, no va a suceder. Pero si alguna vez has tenido esta experiencia con Dios, toma unos cinco segundos. Y Él te desgaste y luego dices,

tu camino es mejor, está bien, sí, Señor. Pero esto es lo que dije. Dije, estoy de acuerdo. Pero esa esposa que tú me has dado, Señor, ella nunca aceptará. Y ella oró para que entráramos en esto. Ella era como la que oraba en la familia en aquel entonces. Ella oró para que consiguieramos esta casa. Ella oró para que los niños entraran en la escuela correcta. Amamos a nuestros vecinos aquí. Ya sabes, todo ese tipo de cosas. Ella, o sea, yo estoy de acuerdo, pero ella nunca aceptará. Y así es como terminé esa oración. Y solo para saber que eres tú, ella tiene que ser quien saque el tema. Lo cual sabía que nunca sucedería, porque en siete años de vivir en esa casa, ni siquiera un susurro sobre la idea de esta película. Así que digo, amén. Y es como, listo con eso. Te tengo, ¿verdad? Te tengo, Dios. Y literalmente esa semana, Summer se va a Dallas para, ya sabes, un viaje rápido. Y justo cuando está a punto de regresar, una amiga suya le dice, oye, ¿puedo orar por ti?

Y en medio de la oración, no te miento, la amiga se detiene, mira a Summer y le dice, creo que Dios está diciendo que necesitas mudarte. Literalmente, necesitas. Y entonces Summer regresa, me está explicando esto. Como, ¿qué crees que significa eso? Y yo estoy como, maldita sea Dios. No pensé que realmente lo harías. Así que pensamos que seríamos rebeldes si no lo hacíamos. Empezamos el proceso y aprendimos muy rápido que en esa economía, lo que nos dijeron que podíamos dar por la casa, no sería suficiente. ¿Sabes a lo que me refiero? O sea, estábamos en números rojos en ese sentido. Y entonces pensamos, bueno Dios, si tú estás en esto, simplemente vas a tener que hacerlo, ¿verdad? Mira, esto es lo que he aprendido en la vida. Nuestro trabajo es obedecer. El trabajo de Dios es abrir camino, ¿verdad? Así que sí, haz lo que Dios te pide. Los resultados son de Él. Solo controlas tu obediencia. No puedes controlar los resultados. Por eso llamo a Summer la susurradora de casas. Ella escucha a Dios sobre estas cosas y simplemente dice, está bien, esto es lo que haremos. Vamos a vender la casa por 40,000 más de lo estimado.

Era otra economía. Hoy nadie puede comprar. Todo ha cambiado. Y son 40,000 dólares. Yo estaba como, bueno, simplemente pongámosla en venta por un millón de dólares más. O sea, porque así de probable es que lo consigamos. Ya sabes, siendo un hombre de fe en aquel entonces. Y en una semana, tuvimos 19 visitas Tres ofertas, obtuvimos más de lo que pedimos. La casa de alabanza por más de lo que pedimos. Teníamos una lista de reparaciones. No pidieron ninguna de ellas. Vamos, Jesús. Cerramos el trato unas semanas después. Nos mudamos a la nueva casa cerca de la iglesia, allí en Hamilton Mill. Y en una semana habíamos conocido a más amigos y tenido más conversaciones sobre Jesús con más personas que ahora venían a la iglesia. Y nuestros hijos hicieron más amigos en una semana que los que tuvimos en siete años en la casa vieja. Entonces, ¿quién hace eso? Vamos, ¿quién le habla a mi corazón? Hace que alguien más se lo diga a mi esposa. Dispone las circunstancias y luego nos bendice de una manera que ni siquiera estábamos pidiendo o esperando. Vamos, es decir, Dios no solo cambió nuestra dirección, Él cambió nuestras vidas. Y ni siquiera estábamos buscando eso.

O sea, ¿quién hace eso? ¿Un buen pastor hace eso? ¿Un buen pastor que ama hablarle a sus ovejas? Y en nuestro viaje de un año a través del libro de Juan, hoy estamos en Juan 10. Si trajeron sus Biblias, pongan su dedo en Juan 10 por ahí o hagan click ahí. Y aquí es donde aprendemos una de las formas en que creo que Jesús, me encanta esta forma en que Jesús se define a sí mismo. Está en el versículo dos, comenzaremos. Él dice, estas son letras rojas. El que entra por la puerta es el pastor de las ovejas. El portero le abre la puerta y las ovejas escuchan su voz. Él llama a sus propias ovejas por su nombre. Hagamos una pausa en eso. No vamos a profundizar demasiado en esa dirección, pero ¿sabes que Jesús conoce tu nombre? No eres un código de barras, no eres un número de seguridad social celestial. Vamos, Él conoce tu nombre, conoce tu historia, conoce tu vida y llama a sus propias ovejas por su nombre y las saca. Y cuando ha sacado a todas las suyas, va delante de ellas, porque eso es lo que hace un pastor, Él va primero. Y sus ovejas los siguen porque conocen su voz, pero nunca seguirán a un extraño. De hecho, huirán de Él porque no reconocen la voz de un extraño. Y continúa diciendo, todos los que han venido antes

de mí son ladrones y salteadores, pero las ovejas no los han escuchado. Yo soy la puerta. El que entre por la puerta, entra a través de mí, será salvo. Entrarán y saldrán y encontrarán pastos. El ladrón, Juan 10, 10, muy famoso. El ladrón solo viene para robar, matar y destruir. Pero Jesús dice, yo he venido para que tengan vida y para que la tengan en abundancia. ¿Por qué? Yo soy el buen pastor. Yo conozco a mis ovejas y mis ovejas me conocen a mí. Vaya, eso es bueno. Y estás a punto de darte cuenta de lo bueno que es en solo un segundo. No sé si lo ves ahí mismo. Pastor, ovejas, voz, escuchar, seguir. O sea, palabras clave ahí mismo. Pastor, ovejas. Ahora, aquí está la verdad honesta. Sé que suena muy cristiano eso de que somos las ovejas. ¿Verdad? Todo el mundo ha oído eso si creciste en la iglesia. Ahora, eso es cierto. Son palabras de Jesús. Jesús nos llama a ovejas. Ahora, déjeme ayudarnos un poco. Ese no es necesariamente el cumplido que pensamos que es. Está bien, porque las ovejas son tontas.

Está bien, las ovejas son tontas. Las ovejas no saben cómo encontrar pasto. Las ovejas no pueden protegerse a sí mismas. No existen las ovejas guerreras. Está bien, las ovejas están hechas de chuletas de cordero. ¿Sabes a lo que me refiero? Están hechas de eso, ¿verdad? Son comida, son comida. Las ovejas, bueno, no tienen buena vista. En la lista de cosas que las ovejas no tienen a su favor es así de larga. Hay una cosa, hay una cosa que las ovejas tienen a su favor. Pueden oír muy bien. Muy bien. Poco a poco empiezan a aparecer ovejas a su alrededor. Y no tiene que llamarlas. Él solo está hablando. Y de repente, te lo digo, al final del video hay unas 200 ovejas en fila justo detrás de él. Y él dice, chicos, así es como funciona porque las ovejas conocen la voz de su pastor. Ahora, la cosa es así. Dios nos llama ovejas a ti y a mí. Simplemente es lo que es, ¿verdad?

O sea, no somos los más inteligentes. Eso no es un insulto. ¿Alguna vez has leído Job? Aquí es donde Dios. God asked Job, hey, where were you when I threw the stars? I don't know. Compared to God, his paths are higher. We're not the smartest. In the end, we can't provide ourselves well or control many things. We really can't protect ourselves at the end of the day from the real dangers of life. But there's one thing that God has given us an extraordinary ability, and that is to listen to the voice of the good shepherd. And here's the promise. If we listen and follow, we'll have life and life in abundance. Here's the thing. I know many are new to faith or to the church, or maybe they've returned by giving God another chance. Maybe others have been Christians for a while, but they've never really accepted this. The truth is really simple, it's that we have a God who speaks. We have a God who speaks. God is not defined by His absence or His silence. In the very beginning, verse 3, God says, Be the light. And He never stopped speaking, and He still speaks today. And Brother Lorenzo said this.

He was a man of prayer. Brother Lorenzo said this. He said, There is no sweeter and more delightful life than that of continuous conversation. Conversation with God. Only those who practice it and experience it can understand it. In other words, if you're making fun of yourself today or saying, that's not possible, it's because you're not understanding it, practicing or experiencing it. But those who have this type of continuous conversation with God know that you wouldn't change anything in your life for this. You wouldn't change any amount of wealth. You wouldn't change any amount of wisdom. You wouldn't change any relationship for this. So let me be very clear at this moment. Today is not a sermon on how to get what you want from God. God is not the genius of the lamp. God is not that reserve of universal energy where you can manifest your desires. What this is about is a few minutes on how to listen to His voice. And have a continuous conversation with Him in the big things and in the small things. Sometimes the small things are the best things in life. But this is what I know. There are some of us today who are in a place where we desperately need to listen to God's voice.

And I know this because I'm stopped every week in the lobby. And some of you already have a plan to stop me in the lobby today and tell me, Pastor, should I go to this school or should I go to that school? Should I marry this person or should I marry that person? Should I accept that job or stay in this one? Should I move? Or you know, should I stay? Or should I leave? My parents are getting old. How can I help them in this stage? Pastor, my life is a disaster. I ruined it. How can I fix it? And if I can only help you with this, I don't think so. Our good pastor wants us to live a life of putting the positive aspects in one column and the negative aspects in the other. And simply doing this, improvising, right? Making mistake after mistake after mistake. Come on, how many of you are tired of mistake after mistake? And some of them are bigger mistakes. And here's the problem with mistakes. They cost you two things, time and pain. Time and pain. Time and pain. And I'm going to tell you this today, guys.

The good pastor doesn't want his life to be defined by time and pain. And I'm going to tell you this. It's the same thing I've said to hundreds of people before. Okay? Maybe if you're in this place today, it's okay, you need to hear this. Friend, you need a word. You need a word. You need to go to God and get a word from God. That's what you need today. And here's my deep conviction that will help all of this happen. I think God is talking a lot more than we're hearing. I don't think God has a problem with speaking. I think we have a problem with listening. We don't have a problem with the pastor. We have a problem with sheep. Come on, someone. Good pastor, bad sheep. That's the problem. That's the problem. Okay? But there's a way to better tune our ears to hear the voice of our good pastor. And of all the wonderful things in my life, of all the wonderful blessings that God has given me, and again, many of you resonate with this today. I think probably one of the greatest lessons

I've learned in life is how to tune my spirit to better hear the voice of the pastor. I haven't reached my goal. But I tell you, compared to God, I'm not going to sell the house for where I am today. There's movement. There's progress. I've learned to listen to his voice better because you can't lead something. I mean, how are you going to navigate life by basing yourself on your own wisdom without it being defined by time? tiempo y el dolor, ¿verdad? Así que esto es lo que sé. No sé si estás en el lugar donde confías plenamente en eso, pero es por esto que Jesús dice esto en Juan 10. Vamos a leerlo de nuevo. En el versículo nueve, Él dice, yo soy ¿qué? Yo soy la puerta. Vamos a volver a eso. El que por mí entrares será salvo. Entrará y saldrá y hallará pastos. Juan 10, 10. El ladrón no viene sino para hurtar y matar y destruir. Yo he venido para que tengan vida y para que la tengan en abundancia.

Yo soy el buen pastor. El buen pastor su vida da por las ovejas. Bien, aquí está la cuestión. Eso es un poco confuso porque no sé cuántos pastores hay en la sala hoy, pero hay una imagen que hace que tenga sentido. Ahí está. Y eso es lo que se llama un redil. Muy bien. Un redil es esto. Bien. And whatever He tells me to do is the safest, the best, the brightest, and the most satisfying thing I could do in my life. And so, the real question is this. Do I know the pastor's voice well enough to recognize it among the crowd? True, I think of it this way, as if when we finish in a few minutes, if we are out there in the lobby, and there are a thousand people in the lobby,

and Sommer says, hey, Johnson, right? I'm not going to be like, sir, was that my wife? No, we've been together for 30 years. It's better that you know his voice at this point. Come on, parents, you can be in the mall, and if your son calls you by your name, there are a thousand other mokos out there, right? But your own mokoso shouts your name, and you say, why? Because time, experience, and conversations give familiarity, give the ability to recognize, give the ability to discern that one voice among many other voices. Here is our problem, if I can be really honest. Many of us, I would say that perhaps the majority of us, have never done the work to tune our voice with the pastor. Because this is what we do every time we get to a meeting, every time we get to a big decision, this is what we do. Wow, if only I could talk to a pastor. If only I could talk to my dad. If only my mom was here. Oh, if only I could talk to this friend. Oh, if only I could get 30 minutes with Pastor Johnson. Why doesn't Pastor Johnson want to meet with me? I have a big life decision, and I need him to solve my problems. Okay, let me take a break right there. Yes, we need pious advice. Okay, there are too many people saying that God told me

and simply doing the craziest things. Okay, someone has ruined their life because God told them and then you think, maybe he didn't do it in retrospect, right? Okay, Proverbs 15.22 is super clear. It says, Plans fail because of lack of advice, but with many advisors, they succeed. In the abundance and multitude of advisors, there is wisdom, all that kind of thing. Okay? But here is the distinction. There is a difference between seeking advice and delegating your relationship with God. There is a difference between sharing some thoughts with a trusted friend and saying, Hey, I need you to listen to God for me. That means that your ears are not ready to listen to the voice of your good pastor because you always expect others to do it for you. This is what I know. We are a super diverse church. We come from many origins, denominations, and all kinds of different contexts. And some of you came from that kind of church. Some of you come from a really toxic, abusive, and controlling church where the man of God listened to the word of God for their lives. And if I could only, you know, meet with that kind of person,

then the word of God. I mean, don't go on vacation without talking to the man of God. No, come on, no. You better not get married without talking to the man because you don't know what? The man of God, right? Come on. And this is what I come to today. Let me quickly reestablish this. I need to remind you that, yes, I am a pastor. With a lowercase p. Very lowercase p. Like a very, very lowercase p. Pastor. Okay. I am a pastor. But before being a pastor, I am also a sheep. And I also need to listen to the voice of my good pastor. So please, never let a pastor replace the good pastor. And I want to say this with humility and kindness. Okay? My job as your pastor is not to listen to God for you. It is to help you learn to recognize His voice for yourselves. How much better is that? Because I promise you, there are only a handful of pastors in this church who only have a handful of time. Listen, but there is a Jesus who is always available for you.

There is a good pastor who is always available for you. So, let the pious advice be the confirmation, but do not depend on it to be the origin. Does this really make sense? That is, go before God, take what you heard, and bring it back. Do not stay with the blank sheet without having dedicated your life to it. in real time. Ask, what does God say to me? This is what there is. I know that it's just listening. Maybe you ask yourself, Nick, how do I do it? You tell me that I have to go to the pastor, but how do you listen to him? Let me show you how I listen to the pastor. Here's the first one. When I'm crying, it's fine, it's obvious, but this is what I mean. We talk about this sometimes. Don't complicate it too much. Prayer is a conversation with God. Prayer, and what is a conversation? Well, has anyone ever had a conversation with someone? A few, yes. What is a conversation? It's not just that you speak. If you do, you're a narcissist, okay? So you speak, and then you say, yes, that's the prayer. That's the prayer. The prayer is not just speaking. Speaking, speaking, speaking, amen, and then you leave. God is like, oh, okay, I guess you didn't want to hear me speak today, right? No, but prayer is pouring your heart out to God, talking to Him about how much you want to sin. But God, help me because I don't want to sin. But my flesh does. Talk to me. I was talking to someone last night who had a spontaneous abortion, and she said, I'm worried about what will happen when she gets pregnant again. I said, talk to God about that. Share your frustration. If you're here today, we had a family that lost a two-year-old two weeks ago. Talk to God about that. God can handle your frustration. Have you read the Psalms? David is just complaining, lamenting, and shouting goodbye for about 150 chapters, right? I mean, the whole thing is just David. Oh, well, this is what I'm actually saying. The most dangerous thing you can do is hide those emotions and stop talking to God, right?

Because God can take your blows. God can handle your blows. In the Psalms, David says, God, you're the best. I love you so much. You're incredible. Then, in the next chapter, he says, why have you forsaken me, God? Why do the wicked prosper, God? Right? God is not like, who do you think you are? No, He's like, come on, bring Him to me. No necesito que me digan nada hoy porque ya lo escuché de él justo ahí abajo. Eso es todo. Así es como vivo cada día. Necesito eso cada día. ¿Escucho a Dios cuando estoy con personas? Honestamente, probablemente esto es la gente de Dios, no en el club. ¿De acuerdo? Es una distinción muy importante. Personalmente, así es como más escucho a Dios.

Por eso no quiero faltar a la iglesia. No solo por el lugar, sino por estar con ustedes y escuchar el sermón. ¿Alguna vez has sentido que Dios te habla solo a ti y piensas que quizás nadie más captó el mensaje? Sentí que Dios hablaba directamente conmigo. El sermón fue para mí. Necesito estar en esos entornos.
