Very good. Hello everyone. Hello once again. Happy Mother's Day. This sermon is not only for moms today, but I do want to take a break and celebrate moms on this day. So, just once again, let's go. Biological moms, spiritual moms, foster moms, adoptive moms, aunts and grandmothers who pray. I have my mom up here. Hello mom, how are you? Yesterday, Summer came to me and said, hey, don't forget that I am the mother of your children. And I said, don't worry, honey, I will never forget that you are the mother of my children. Let me put it this way. Very good. When it comes to Mother's Day, I know this. That for many, Mother's Day can be very happy. And for others, it can also be complicated. So, let me say this. I pray that wherever you are today, the word of God will reach you right where you are. And I know this. What I like most about Jesus is that, in an amazing way, He has a way of reaching each one of us exactly where we are. Even if we come from different places. That is my prayer for you. That in the next few minutes, even in a room with thousands of people here and online, God will speak to you. And I believe that Jesus, the same God who in some way was a good pastor, directed all of our steps from where we were this week to end up in this same place now. That in the same way, He will speak a unique, special, and exact word to each one of us. Right where you are. Very good. So, I think I would just say, get ready. In fact, turn to your neighbor and say, get ready. Very good. Turn to your other neighbor and say, get ready.

Get ready. Hey, if you are new to us here at Victory, basically, we are dedicating the whole year and speaking very seriously. Probably my favorite book in the Bible, the book of John. And John simply rises high like an eagle. And practically, each page is impregnated with him shouting, Jesus is God. Look at Him. Put your faith in Him. Trust in Him. That is to say, each page is that. If you were here the first few weeks, I want to take up something that God gave me at the end of last year. This is the year that we are going to snatch souls from hell. Do you agree with that? And if by chance you missed it, just a couple of weeks ago we baptized 720 people in water. In just one weekend. So, for me, I am seeing it. I see how men, women, and children and their families are being radically transformed. That is what John writes about. At the end of John's book, he says, I wrote these things for you to believe in Jesus. And when you believe, you will have eternal life in His name. That is the path we are on. Very good. And the great thing, the beautiful thing about spending a lot of time in just one book, is that you can go deeper. In fact, we have already spent 11 weeks in the first three chapters. And today we are advancing to chapter 4.

Very good. So, we are going to be here for a few weeks, watching this story from different angles. So, make sure to keep joining us. But today, we sit at the table at this precise moment in which Jesus meets a woman in a well. John 3 ends with this moment of John the Baptist. Pastor Kervin explained it wonderfully last week, if you were here. John the Baptist says, Jesus must grow, and I must wither. We see that this happens. The ministry of Jesus experiences an explosive growth. And one of the things they love to do, religious people, is to spread God's messages. Then the Pharisees appear, and Jesus says to them, listen, it is not yet time for that fight. Then he gathers his disciples and they go north. And so we are going to continue here in verse 5. Verse 3 says, so he, Jesus, left Judea and returned to Galilee. He had to, everyone says, he had to go through Samaria on the way. Finally he reached the Samaritan village of Zuccar, near the field that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. There was the well of Jacob, and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat tired by the well around midday. Okay, pause. Let's analyze that quickly. The first thing we learn here is that Jesus had to go through Samaria. So everyone says, he had to. Very good. So we learned that Jesus had to go through Samaria, except it wasn't like that. Very good. So what I'm going to do is show you a map. Very good. If you've been here long enough,

you know I have a degree in geography, so that's my thing. So Jerusalem, here at the bottom of the map, is in the area of Israel called Judea. The northern part of Israel where the Sea of Galilee is. Can you guess what that area is called? Galilee. That's why it's called the Sea of Galilee. I know, it's incredible. So Jerusalem is in Judea, and he is moving to the area of Galilee. So the most direct route is, in fact, through this white path. It goes up and down. It goes down in a straight line and crosses this area of the city called Sukkar. The problem is that right in that area, in the center of that circle, is the region called Samaria. The problem with Samaria, in the mind of a Jew, is that Samaritans live there. That is the big problem. And you know, Jesus, we are familiar with the Samaritans because Jesus tells the story of the good Samaritan. Jesus told the story of the good Samaritan because for a Jew there was no such thing as a good Samaritan. The Samaritans were mischievous. They were dirty, sinful, impure, and idolatrous people. There was a saying at that time that said that if the shadow of a Samaritan touches you, you become impure. That was the kind of hatred they had. So the path that a good Jew would take is the red path. Why? It takes a couple more days to surround Samaria because they don't want to touch a Samaritan, or see them, or be with them. But Jesus takes the white path, straight through the center.

Why? Because he had to. That word in Greek is dei, which doesn't always mean he had to. It actually means necessary. So it was necessary for Jesus to go through Samaria and reach Sychar. Why was it necessary? Not because there was no other way, although there was. There are several other ways to do it. No, it was necessary for Jesus to go through Samaria. And let me put it this way. The camel edition of Apple Maps was being sent around Samaria, but it was necessary for Jesus to go through Samaria. Why? Because there was someone really special with whom he wanted to speak. Jesus had a divine meeting with someone he had to go to. And she was in Sychar, there in Samaria. And if you pay attention, when does that special meeting with that special person take place? What time of the day? Midday. Midday. Well, that's fine. If you just joined us, it's very important that you know that John is a writer and that you are reading what he writes.

So, in other words, pay attention to the details because he includes them on purpose. And there is something that is constantly repeated. You will see it like ten times more. This contrast between darkness and light. And all of John 3, in that conversation that Jesus had with this religious man called Nicodemus, happens at night. What happens at night? John is saying, lack of faith, fear, doubt, the devil is in the shadows of the night. What happens during the day? Oh, friend, faith, life, miracles, buckle up because God is about to do something really incredible during the day. So, there is a really strong and extreme contrast between John 3 and John 4. He is telling the story of a man. Now he tells the story of a woman and a religious leader to someone you are about to discover who is not very religious. It is this super fair person in front of someone who is not. John establishes this contrast to show us, listen to this, sometimes the people you least expect to put their faith in Jesus are actually the first to sign their name on the dotted line. And I think what that means for us is, guys, don't give up on the people you love. Don't give up!

Don't stop praying. Don't stop talking to them about the love of Jesus. Don't stop letting the light shine. Come on. Because I tell you, no matter how hard their heart is, no matter how messy their life is, Jesus can find them right where they are. Well, and let's go back to verse 7. And we are going to read a fragment of text here. Well. As soon as Jesus sat at the edge of the well, a Samaritan woman came to get water. And Jesus said to her, Please give me something to drink. He was alone. An important detail, because his disciples went to the town to buy food. The woman was surprised because the Jews hate the Samaritans. And she said to him, You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan. Why do you ask me for water to drink? And Jesus replied to her, If you only knew the gift... I love that. If you only knew the gift that God has for you, and who is speaking to you, you would have asked me. And I would have given you living water. Sir, you don't have a rope.

I like it. She doesn't know. She had no idea what Jesus was talking about. You don't have a bucket. How are you supposed to give me that living water? And this well is very deep. Where could you get the living water? Also, do you think you are superior to our ancestor Jacob? Yes, yes, yes, yes. Jesus is. Who gave us this well? How is it possible that they give us better water than Jacob's, his children and his animals? Jesus replied, Whoever drinks from this well will be thirsty again. But those who drink from the water that I give them will never be thirsty again. And that water will become a fresh spring and bubbling inside them, giving them eternal life. And the woman said, Please, sir, give me that water. So I will never be thirsty again. And I won't have to come back here to get water. And Jesus said to her, Hey, quick, go and call your husband. Dramatic pause. I don't have a husband. She replied calmly, Yes, sir. You are absolutely right.

You don't have a husband because you have had five husbands. You're not even married to the man you live with now. Without a doubt, you've told the truth. Sir, you must be a prophet. I love that. Okay. That ellipsis covers about five or six verses that we're going to see again next week. Okay. But moving forward, she makes this proclamation. I know that the Messiah is coming, the one who is called the Christ. And when he comes, he will explain everything to us. And then Jesus said to her, I am the Messiah. I love that little asterisk. This woman in this well is the first person to whom Jesus reveals himself as the Messiah. She is the first. Just then, his disciples returned and were surprised to find him talking to a woman. But none of them dared to ask, What do you want with her? Why are you talking to her? The woman left her pitcher by the well and ran to the people saying, Come and see a man who told me everything I did. Is it possible that he is the Messiah? Okay. I love this last image. Okay.

I can't help but think like this. So this woman runs back to the people and says, Listen everyone, I just met a man. And they say, Girl, Girl, you've been married like 50 times. I mean, you have to stop seeing men. I mean, stop, stop. And I think she thinks, No, but this is different. Very good. And if we add culture to this story, this is what is surprising, okay? Jesus meets this woman who basically already has three points against him, right? First, she is a woman in a very patriarchal culture. At that time, women lacked rights. You had no authority or anything. First strike, you are a woman in a world of men then. Second, you are a Samaritan, that is, a marginalized. Third, she is a sinner. She has lived with five men or has been married to five guys. And now she is living with the sixth, okay? And then, by the way, while I was reading this last week, I just stopped and remembered this. It is stories like this that give me the confidence that the Bible is the word inspired by God. Why? Because if you were writing a story at that time, you wouldn't make a woman the heroine of the story. And you wouldn't make a Samaritan the heroine either. And definitely you wouldn't make a Samaritan woman, dirty and divorced, the heroine of the story. That is not the kind of story you would tell

if you wanted, for example, to inspire confidence in this God. Because no holy Jewish man would ever speak to a woman like that. But Jesus does not stop. And in essence, I want to say it like this, just for you, from the beginning. Jesus, right here, crosses three barriers. Very well, the first is the gender barrier. So, again, according to the cultural rules of the time, if Jesus is sitting on the edge of the well and this woman approaches, the culture would say that you have to take ten big steps back and somehow turn around. You don't speak to her. Because men don't speak to women they have no kinship with. You just don't. And that is what the culture would have said then. It was super taboo to speak to a woman in public. What do you do? Scandalized disciples. Cross another cultural barrier. She is an enemy. Samaritans are the mortal enemy. Cross the moral barrier. Don't you know that this woman carries the letter Escarlata with her, Jesus? What are you doing? But he crosses the gender barrier, the cultural barrier, the moral barrier. That's right. It's scandalous that Jesus is speaking to this woman. But Jesus omits the cultural rules. Why? Remembering Mark 2, Jesus says, Healthy people don't need a doctor. Sick people do. And he says, I didn't come to call those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners. And again, this is what we see in John 3 with this religious leader, Nicodemus.

He thinks he has everything under control. This is how he rejects Jesus. But in reality, you find this destroyed woman who has a radical encounter in her life. And I think the story is basically this, my friends. We are all broken. We are all damaged. It doesn't matter how much religion you show on the outside. It doesn't matter how well you dress today. Inside, you are as disorganized as any other person. And the sooner we get to the point of being honest about that, the sooner health can begin in our lives. Because Jesus is willing to cross those barriers, okay? And that's how I would say it. That's how I would say it. I love this thought. Jesus goes to the people we avoid. Think about the map. Jesus goes to those we relate to, right? Let me put it this way. He goes to the person who holds the sign at the exit of the highway. Do you know who I'm talking about? The person you relate to. Did you let yourself get in the other lane? Then they start walking and you think, Oh, I got a phone call. Come on. We all do it. We do it because we don't want to look at it and we prefer to surround it. But Jesus goes to them.

Jesus goes to them. to your neighbor who has just gotten you in trouble with the owner's association. You don't want to have anything to do with that person, you know? Jesus will see your newly ascended companion instead of you. Maybe even Jesus will approach a man or woman who is going through difficulties in the church on Mother's Day. Because glorified be God, Jesus comes to the sick and to those who suffer, what it means that he comes to me and he comes to you. And it is precisely with this woman, think about this for a moment, the woman with whom you should not even be talking. It is with this woman that Jesus himself has his most extensive and detailed conversation in the whole Bible. Culture says, do not speak to him, he says, I will show you how much I will speak to her. Because this special person needs a special conversation. And here is the question that will guide us during the next few minutes. What did he tell her that day that he still tells us today? Very well, this is the first thing, that there is a well that simply cannot fill you. There is a well that simply cannot fill you. Well, let's look at the culture here, okay? So this woman comes to the well at noon alone, carrying her bucket of water. Okay? And culturally speaking, all our alarms are activated, right? Let's start with this. He came at noon. Don't go then, because water is collected at dawn or sunset. It happens in the early morning or in the afternoon. Why? Because it's hot, like in Israel, for example. You won't be carrying a 25-kilo bucket of water on your head, right? It's as if you weren't there. So she shouldn't come now. And she definitely shouldn't come alone. Why? Because at that time, most of them were women, like trapped at home.

Again, you don't have much authority at that time. In fact, going to the well was the only opportunity I had, in which I could really leave the house and go and connect with other women. So the well of the town, in some way, became the social space for women. It was where friendships were born. It was where gossip was told. Come on, gossip was told in the city. Did you know about Jessica? That's what happens around the well. Women are creating bonds around the well. It was like the social networks of the first century. This was their moment. In fact, that's how connected the wells and women were. If you look at the Old Testament, every time a man wanted to get married, he simply went to the well. Isaac, Jacob, and Moses met their wives in the well, because women and wells were so interconnected. It's no coincidence that Jesus settles here, on the edge of a well, right? So here's the question. Why is this woman in such a social place? Why is she here alone? We don't have to look far. Verse 16 again. Jesus says, Go and call your husband. I don't have a husband. You don't have a husband because you've had five, and you're not even married to the man you live with now. We realize very quickly when Jesus takes off his mask and reveals his reality. A cycle of marriages and broken relationships, over and over again.

That's why she's alone. Because the women of the town have rejected her. Again, she carries the letter Escarlata. They say, No, no, we don't want you here. And the easiest thing for her is to go alone later in the day. And if we're honest, if you're like me, when you grow up and read this story, there's a layer in this story that makes you think, this woman is evil, right? That's what it looks like, right? And so, when we read this, if we're not careful, it looks like it's time to catch her. For the woman, it's like, Oh no, I'm going to confront that woman who's jumping from bed to bed, right? He says, Hey, go find your husband. He's like, I know what you're going to say. Oh, I'm not married. Yes, if you're not married, we know. We know what you've been doing, right? He's saying, you're from the street. Do you know what I mean? You jump from one side to the other. This girl has her OnlyFans link in her biography. It's her, it's that girl. That's how it feels when you read the story for the first time. If we're not careful, we'll believe that and we'll filter the story through those glasses. But there's a detail, if you haven't heard it before, that changes everything. A detail that changes the whole story.

Here it is. In this culture, women couldn't divorce their husbands. Only men could divorce women. Women couldn't divorce men. So, listen, if we really analyze this, it's probably not a woman who's been jumping from bed to bed. Because you couldn't get away with yours doing that in that culture. Which means that she didn't start out as a seductress. She started out as a victim. This woman in the well is a woman who has been abandoned, mistreated, discarded. Five times by men she trusted. And now she's with a man who doesn't even love her enough to... I want to ask you to marry me. We begin to read the story in a different way because now five men have left. Five times he has thought, and if the next man loves me, he keeps me and satisfies my needs. Do you allow me to express it in this way today? Five times he has brought his well back to the well of men and has desperately sought to find something to satiate the thirst of his soul. But each time, that same well has completely dried up. And at some point, if we can read between the lines, I think she began to realize that she could also play the game. She thinks, Oh yeah? Are you going to use the money to get sex out of me? Oh well, can I use the sex to get something out of you? And then they all start playing the game. And friends, let this serve as a reminder right now. The wells of this world will always fail you. Because the real problem is not that you are thirsty. The real problem is that you are going to the wrong well to drink.

That is the real problem. Because the real problem was not that this woman was physically thirsty. Her problem was to be spiritually dehydrated, seeking to physically fill the spiritual. Do you follow me? The four basic human needs are acceptance, identity, security, and purpose. Acceptance, identity, security, and purpose. Each one of us needs acceptance, identity, security, and purpose. And this is what I believe. If we could take a snapshot of some of you, you work from 9 to 5, tomorrow morning you will get in your car and you will do your 12-hour journey, right? And if I could really see you in your car, you would be sitting in the driver's seat and you would have your jug in the passenger's seat. And it's a little crumpled. You have to take care of that, right? So you get to work, you take out your own jug, and you enter the office, right? And you deposit your jug directly into the money. But what you are really looking for is financial security. And there is something that grows somewhere inside of you. It's like, my boss is my provider. And if I don't make him happy, what am I? How am I going to move forward? So we go to physical places to satisfy spiritual needs. And we say, yes, no, I don't have problems with my identity. But that promotion would be great. Because who am I if I don't have a title?

Come on, church! You know, maybe you are single and you are going out on a date. You get in the car, you go there, and then you say, wait, boop, boop, boop, I have to look for my jug because I have needs that need to be satisfied. Do you know where you are going? You try to position yourself all night to be lucky. Why? Because you are looking to resort to sex or pleasure to get acceptance. Maybe someone really loves me in the deepest part of my being. And so, listen, we resort to shallow wells to satisfy deep needs. And that's why it never satisfies. It will happen tonight, tomorrow, and the next night too. That's how it happens. When the day begins to end and all the whirlwind begins to calm down, the whirlwind inside, which has been there all day, covered by everything else, begins to come out. Okay? That's how it looks. For some of us it's like, oh, I'm alone. So let me take my jug to a deep well that is able to calm my loneliness. Whether it's that website, the porn thing, a person, whatever, because I'm really alone. So I have to live with that. Sometimes the trauma of what happened to young people overflows. And I think I don't like that pain. I don't like that memory. So I'm just going to drink a little alcohol. Let me drink a little.

I open the bottle and the pills. Whatever that is, right? And we resort to this to try to calm it down. That's why sin never satisfies thirst. It satisfies you for five minutes, but in reality you have more thirst after sin than when you started. And here's the truth. The good news today, friends, is that Jesus wants to break the cycle of going back to the same empty well over and over and over and over again. And that's why Jesus, when he tells the woman that he has living water, this is his answer. Here it is in verse 15. She says, give me that water. If you can do that for my life, give it to me so that I don't have thirst again and don't have to keep coming here to get water. This is what she's saying. She's saying, Jesus, I'm tired of taking my well to the well of men over and over and over again. It's not working. I'm ashamed. I have rejection. I'm isolated, but it's the only well I know how to go to. Is there another well? El sexo fuera del matrimonio es la búsqueda de algo que falta. El sexo dentro del matrimonio es la celebración de algo que se ha encontrado. Esa es la diferencia. Así que cuando llevas tu jarra de una persona a otra, debes saber que ese pozo nunca te llenará. La semana pasada navegaba en Instagram y por cómo funciona el algoritmo, apareció una chica y pude ver que tenía los ojos llorosos. Y pensé, está bien, me atrapaste. Empiezo a ver el video y se pone intenso, muy rápido. Y de hecho aviso de contenido sensible. Ella lo dice prácticamente desde el principio. Ella dice, eh, fui abusada por mi primo cuando tenía nueve años. Y ella dijo, así que siendo una niña aprendí que en realidad podía usar el sexo para conseguir cosas de los hombres. Y por una serie de acontecimientos, ella simplemente está recapitulando su vida. Ella dice, a los 17 años estaba sin hogar viviendo en mi coche y la única manera en que podía dormir bajo un techo

era si me acostaba con el hombre que era dueño de ese techo. Y así continuó con eso durante algunos años. Ella termina en OnlyFans para ganar dinero y así es como lo racionalizó. Quiero citarla directamente. ¿Por qué? Dijo, al menos los hombres en ese sitio web no pueden hacerme daño. Me sexualizarán, pero al menos estaré a salvo. Y luego hizo una pausa y simplemente está pensando en voz alta. Ella dice, hay algo tan oscuro en ese proceso de pensamiento. Pero basándome en lo que he vivido en mi vida, pensé, esto es lo mejor que puedo conseguir. Me encanta esto. Me encanta esto. Ella baja la mirada. Ella toma algo y dice, pero por alguna razón esta semana abrí la Biblia y me di cuenta de lo realmente harta y de lo cansada que estoy de esta vida. Y me estoy dando cuenta de que mi valor no es solo el sexo. Y nunca lo vi hasta que empecé a leer la Biblia. Y ella dice, no sé a dónde me llevará este camino, pero algo está cambiando dentro de mí mientras sigo leyendo. Me encanta eso. Así que oremos por Atena durante esta semana. Y estaba pensando en eso, chicos. Como que si pudiera tener solo una historia que ponga el foco en el problema más grande de la pornografía. E incluso el hecho de vivir juntos fuera del matrimonio. Eso es. Porque lo que hace es que de manera sutil o a veces abiertamente comunica que las mujeres solo tienen valor por una cosa. No para ser amadas, sino para ser usadas para el sexo. Y también comunica de muchas maneras que los hombres solo tienen valor por una cosa. No para ser amados, sino para ser usados por su dinero. Y en esta cultura eso se invierte. Como que todos están haciendo de todo ahora mismo,

pero esto es lo que quiero decir. El problema no es que la cultura mienta. La cultura siempre va a mentir. El riesgo es que sin cuidado lo creeremos. Me refiero a esto. Damas, si no se cuidan, acabarán creyendo que su único valor es su cuerpo y lo que ofrecen a un hombre. Hombres creerán que su único valor es su cuenta bancaria y lo que pueden ofrecer a una mujer y que solo en eso se basa íntegramente su valor. Esa es una mentira del infierno. Si la creemos, solo tomaremos nuestros frascos para ir a pozos ajenos y usarnos unos a otros todo el día. Y eso es lo que hace el mundo entero. Todos están usando mutuamente para satisfacer esas necesidades internas. Debo decir esto hoy, en este fin de semana del Día de la Madre. Damas, mujeres, hoy como los hombres de esta iglesia, afirmamos que ustedes son formidables y maravillosamente hechas. Su valor no depende de cómo se comparen con los estándares de belleza de la sociedad. Son más que su cuerpo. Son inteligentes, llamadas y dotadas por Dios para hacer grandes cosas. Tienes valor por ser la imagen de Dios y fuiste comprada con la sangre de Jesús. Y yo afirmo y afirmamos como los hombres de esta iglesia que eres un tesoro aquí. Te valoramos, te apreciamos y te queremos. We love you a lot, unconditionally. Men, today I tell you that you are also formidable and wonderfully created. Your value does not depend on comparing yourself to social standards. They are more than your bank account or what you lift in the gym. You are intelligent, called and endowed by God for great things. You have value because you were made in the image of God and bought with the blood of Jesus.

You are loved and today I honor you, man. And we are called to do that for each other. We are called to honor, respect and value each other. That is, you may not see it out there, but here you have to wait. In fact, I hope to find it here. I hope so. So guys, if you share a different mentality, it is because you are trying. Go up, go up higher. Go up higher. Okay, but here is the deal. No matter how much you receive from another person, it will never be enough. Because at the end of the day, only Jesus can fill that need. Acceptance, identity, security and focus. No other well can satisfy you. So this is the first thing Jesus says. He says there is a well that does not fill you. The second is great news. There is a Savior who came for you. And this is where history becomes great. So remember this from the beginning. Jesus did not have to be here, right? He wanted to be here that day. He wanted to be in that well. Because He knows that this woman is coming. And this woman thinks about this. She may have come to intentionally avoid people, but Jesus comes to intentionally find her. She is trying to be alone, intentionally. He is trying to find her, intentionally. In essence, I think Jesus woke up that morning and thought, Hey, there is a woman in a well who thinks no one sees her.

But I see her and I'm going to go find her. And I'm going to say this for today. Many thought they only came to church today. Come on. Some children believe, Ah, this is my Mother's Day gift. I will go to church today. Very well. Some of you husbands think, I only go once a year. This is your gift, Bert Freud, right? You know, you only think, I only go to church, I'm just doing... No, no, no, no. This is what you need to know. Jesus had this appointment in his calendar. Do you really think you just came here today by chance? Jesus had this appointment planned months ago. He knew you would be here. He knows you've been running away. He knows how much you've been suffering. He knows the battle you've been fighting and no one else knows. He knows that some of you have thought, I just want to be alone. You came late and you're going to try to leave early. But Jesus has this moment with you in his calendar and he came to find you. And that's the good news of the Gospel. You need to remember this, Lucas 15, Jesus. Which one of you, if you have 100 sheep,

doesn't leave at 99 and goes looking for the lost one? This is what Jesus does, friends. This is what he does. I think that more than a platform ministry, Jesus has a very particular one. This is what Jesus loves. I think it's about sitting with that person, sitting with us. And this little detail of history makes the difference. Jesus is sitting on the edge of the well. Well, my seminary professor, Dr. Burch, that's how he said it. This is great. Write it down. He says that Jesus becomes an intentional obstacle. Oh, that's very good. Jesus becomes an intentional obstacle. Think about this. That morning, she took her jug from home and she's just going to go back to the same thing. Well, to what she always does. Come on, let's spiritualize this for a second. She goes back to the usual, as if she were filling her jug every day looking for acceptance, identity, and purpose. She just continues with her usual routine. I don't know another life. This is just what I do. And she gets to the well. But that day, Jesus is on the way.

And in essence, to get water from the same well that she's always taken from, she's going to have to move Jesus out of the way. Jesus becomes an intentional obstacle. And let me tell you, this is what Jesus does for the people he loves. He interposes himself between us and our sin because he refuses to remain impassive while we drink from poisoned wells, dying slowly from prolonged deaths. And sometimes, you know, that's how it works. Sometimes, the only way to commit a sin is by moving Jesus out of the way. Go ahead. Moody says this, which is great. It would seem that before someone can sin in silence, first they must silence the voice of Jesus in their conscience. Before someone sins in silence, in other words, you take your bottle of money, the person, food or alcohol, whatever, and suddenly, boom, Jesus or the Holy Spirit says to you, what are you doing? You lie to the Holy Spirit and to yourself. Then you do what you wanted, right? This is how Jesus is placed. what he does. Jesus loves us so much that he doesn't let us return to the well. He gets in the way. Look at what Jesus does and what he doesn't do with her. He doesn't condemn her. He doesn't stay in the corner with a megaphone. He's not yelling at him. No, no, no. John 3, 17. Remember that we already saw this. Jesus did not come into the world to condemn the world. He came to save the world. We were already condemned.

There is no need to condemn. We need salvation. Jesus came to save us. He does not condemn her and confront her. He confronts her with love. He puts a mirror in front of her and says, hey, you've been married five times and now you're living with number six. And she tries to change the subject, right? She seeks to divert attention by hiding behind a half-truth. Do you know what I mean? It's like, no, no, no, I'm not married. And Jesus is like, true, true. Come on, it's a half-truth. Jesus is like, no, no, no, I'm not a drug addict. No, no, no, no. I'm not an addict. I just drink a lot from time to time. Jesus is like, I'm not unfaithful to my partner. I've just been talking to this girl and well, I send her my photos. No, no, no, I'm not obsessed with fame and recognition. But no, I'm just going to check how many followers I have. And Jesus is like, brrr, in reality, you're just lying to yourself. You do know He knows it perfectly well. You know He knows. Who do we think we're fooling? And that's what she was trying to do with Jesus. No, no, no, I'm not. Jesus is like, come on, this is what we're really trying to do. Jesus is like, come on, this is what we're really trying to do. He said, hey, bring all of you to this conversation. Bring your pain to this conversation. Be yourself in this talk. Because without a real conversation, you won't receive true health. If you hide behind a false truth, you'll never be able to reach true truth. And He says, let's talk about your true story. What Jesus is inviting us to do is to listen on our path. To go to that well is to leave the jug and talk about why we're going to the well first. He's like, hey, hey, hey, why are you going to that thing again? What are you really trying to satisfy here? Gold so that this week the Holy Spirit stops you and tells you why you're here. What are you really looking for? Leave your jug and bring your true self to the table and let's have a conversation. Let's talk about your fear of failure, your impostor syndrome, and when you were nine years old with your cousin and what he did to you. You spent your life avoiding that emotion, going to that well, and it never brought you

just more pain. Because the truth is that there is a Savior who has come to find you and He sees it all. He sees how you've been running to the same place. So what He does is take a seat next to that well and loves to ruin our search for dreams. I think one of Jesus' favorite things is to prevent people who love to drink poison. And what that produces is this. I think we can see it right here. It's this woman who has been sexualized over and over again, who has been abused, who has been discarded over and over again. In Jesus, she finds the first man who really respected her, who didn't try to rape her, who actually gave her instead of taking it from her. She finds the first man who treated her with dignity. She finds the first man who sees her for who she really is. Because He is the Savior who came to find this special woman. And friends, there are three very good news. There is a well that will not satisfy you. There is a Savior who has come to find you. And best of all, there is a gift that will transform you. Very good. This is how this part of the story ends. And I would say it like this. Jesus is sitting at the edge of your well. Not to bother you, but to improve you. Not to bother you, but to bless you. Because He has something for you. And it's in verse 10. Here it is. Jesus answered. If you only knew the gift, say gift. The gift of God for you and with whom you speak.

You would ask me for living water, because whoever drinks from that well will be thirsty again. But those who drink from the water that I give them will never be thirsty again. Jesus says. If you only knew the gift. This is what He does not say. If you only knew the rules. Come on, because Jesus came with a list of things to do. And He says. I will give you the gift if you are baptized in water and go to church three times and a half a month. Come on, go to the membership class. You have to do it perfectly. And then I will give you the gift. No, Jesus finds this destroyed woman. And right where she is, He says. I have a gift for you. Today. And the gift is a new source of satisfaction, himself. That is the gift. And this is what we really began to see, that she was thinking too small. Jesus says, hey, I have this water for you. And she responds, oh, great, because this pitcher is really heavy. And he says, listen, I'm trying to save you from your life that you are wasting for the toilet. I'm not talking about putting a small dispenser of water in your house. I mean to create a well in your soul. I mean to satisfy the deepest need of who you are, girl. Can I say it like that?

She's been waiting for water, but Jesus brings the gift, the gift, eternal life, the gift of the Holy Spirit, the purification of the soul, being loved in the deepest of your being. This is what I'm saying. She approached Jesus, waiting very little for him. Okay, Cez, Luis has one of my favorite phrases. He said that apparently our Lord considers that our desires are not too strong, but rather too weak. We are pusillanimous creatures who play with drink, sex, and ambition when we are offered infinite joy. We are satisfied with very little. We are satisfied with very little. This is what I'm telling you, guys. The devil sold us the lie that our desires are too strong. Today I tell you that your desires are too weak because many of us were satisfied with sex with the masses when marriage to God was on the table. We have been satisfied with money instead of with meaning. We have been satisfied with drugs when intimacy with the Holy Spirit was available to us. Eternal pleasures are found in the presence of God. Come on, guys. We live in a dry and exhausted land where there is no water

and nothing will ever satisfy our soul. The wells are too shallow in this land. Where do I go to find God? My soul is thirsty for him. My body and life long for God. I have to go and find God. And the good news is this. When we find Jesus, you will find the deepest and most satisfying well that you have ever experienced in your life. He is the well that never dries. He is like the cleanest water, clear, pure, incredible, and exclusive. There is nothing like it. And I tell you from the bottom of my heart. If you have tried and seen that the Lord is good, when you try it, you think, that is what I have wanted all my life. How can I get that again? How do I get it again? Because Jesus says, hey, when you drink from me, you will no longer be thirsty. He does not say that you should not return to him. What he says is that you can stop going to other wells looking for what you have been looking for. Because Jesus is the one indicated. You will never be thirsty because now I know what well to go to. So when the woman hears this, she responds, Jesus, give me that water.

All you need to do is say, Jesus, give me that water. Jesus, give me that water. And then when she drinks the water, here is the detail, the point of exclamation. She left her bucket of water behind. When she meets Jesus, she leaves her bucket of water behind. Why? Because when you meet someone who really satisfies your soul, you stop clinging to the way you used to fulfill your needs. I don't need you anymore. I don't need you anymore. I have met Jesus, so now the well is unnecessary. That is very unnecessary. Because now I can only go to Jesus when I am thirsty. And friends, that is the good news of the Gospel. Before, we used to resort to the mystical, to others, or to work to seek identity, security, and purpose. We simply went to Jesus. That is the simplicity and beauty of the Gospel. We have one source for all our needs and his name is Jesus, the well that never dries. So now our testimony, like that of the woman in the well, can sound a little like this. I came here to satisfy my thirst,

but Jesus interposed himself in the way and gave me something better and praised God. Now I am no longer thirsty because I finally found the one who satisfies the deepest thirst of my life and his name is Jesus Christ. Amen. Amen. So, family, let us go to the well that never dries. Let us bow our heads. Let us pray. Jesus, you are Lord, you are God, you are a teacher, but you are also a friend. You are also the one who always sits at the edge of our well and with a lot of love stops us when it is dry. And some of us need it right now. God, we keep coming back to the same well over and over again and we are confused. Why? It feels good for a moment, but in reality it never solves anything. But God, there is one. There is one, well, there is the well that will never leave us unsatisfied and his name is Jesus and we thank you very much, God, for giving us this living water. Deep gift of eternal life, the gift of the Holy Spirit, the purification of the soul and being loved in our essence. For that we were created, we were created for Jesus, we were created for a deep well, not for the superficial wells of this world. Forgive us, forgive us for returning to these worthless wells. The truth, friends, is that sometimes we come to moments like this and let me be honest. Some of us pray a prayer, we go out through the door, we return to the same wells, we return here the following week, we pray the prayer again and we are baptized again. And, will it not be because we never allow ourselves to leave our jars on the way?

No. A moment will come, in a second, we will pray and in a few minutes we will finish and we will go out through these doors. But this is what I ask of you. What jar do you need to leave behind? Don't take it with you. Don't carry that. Jesus can satisfy those needs better than any earthly well. So I want to do this. Let's take a one-minute break right here. And I want to leave a space for the Holy Spirit to speak to us. Maybe I would even say it like this. What is the well to which perhaps some of us came here this morning, already planning to return tonight or tomorrow? To what well do we continue to carry our jar over and over again? So Holy Spirit, come. God, reveal to us what we are trying to satisfy so that now Jesus can satisfy us. Holy Spirit, give us 30 more seconds. Holy Spirit, tell us what jar we should leave behind. God, our answer is yes. When we pray, to repent means to really change our way of thinking about something. It is to take a 180 degree turn. When we say to surrender, it is to really surrender. It means to renounce what we have in our hands. And so God, today it is our commitment that we are going to leave our old jars. And in fact, we are going to put our gaze on Jesus. The only one who can really satisfy what we have really been looking for. And some of us today need to go through a door of faith. To really say, I am going to put my faith in Jesus for the rest of my life. And family, those who are around some of them, why don't you pray with them? And we are going to pray this way. If you can really pray from the deepest part of your being, I want us to pray like this.

Let's say, thank you Jesus for crossing every barrier to find me. I confess that I have been trying to satisfy my own needs. For a long time I have been trying to satisfy my own thirst for that sin. So today I repent, I give up and I completely abandon my own jar. I accept with humility all the best that you have to give me. I receive right now your infinite forgiveness for each of my sins. Wash my shame, give me eternal life. You are my God, you are my King. And I will come to you to satisfy my needs. Jesus Christ, erase the thirst of my soul in the deepest and deepest part of my being. I no longer have thirst because I recognize that you are my only and great provider. And I will live the rest of my wonderful life to testify before the whole world about your eternal grace. In the name of Jesus. Amen. Come on, can we thank God for the living water?
