The LF Young Adults Seek The Lord at Worship Night
Pastor Eddy leads the Young Adults in an amazing Night of Worship with the amazing LF Worship team.
Amen. Hello, men and women. Such an honor and a blessing to be able to speak to you guys from right here at Life Fellowship Church. My name is Logan Williams. My TDC number is 1490218. I have four numbers after that. I spent nine and a half years in Texas prisons in and out four years in prison. The anxiety and just the depression that comes with that and just the idea when you just come back and back and back. It's like man, am I ever going to get this life thing right? Am I ever going to figure this thing out to where this is not it? And God just got a hold of me and I said, yes, he spoke to me. I said, yes, finally, and my life has just taken off like a rocket ship ever since then. I want to give you guys some advice. Anything is possible when you say yes to God. All the things that you're worrying about in there right now, you're not going to have to worry about
anymore because God's going to take care of it if you give him your yes. It may not be in the way you think it should look, but he is faithful. He is faithful. Hey, tell your friends and family to download the same Pando app. They can get it on their phone. Y'all can watch the same stuff together. Y'all can talk about it. Y'all can learn together. You can pray together. Do this walk with your family, man, and your friends, whoever it is that loves you enough to make contact with you while you're incarcerated. We all have a million friends when we're out there running the streets, doing things, but when we get handcuffs put on us and we get locked up, it's funny how many friends we're left with. So if someone is walking along with you, man, encourage them to get the Pando app and y'all do this thing together. It's vital to your walk. It's been so important in my walk to have good godly men around me and to
be able to speak into the life of my family as well. You know, um, I was reading first john this morning and I came across a verse. I just wanted to share with you because that's so important and it's things that I don't think that we truly grasp most of the time and it's first john five 14. It says this is the confidence that we have in approaching God. So I mean, when I read a sentence like that, I asked myself, hey, how confident am I with approaching God? Are you, are you confident that you can just come to him at any time and and pray bold prayers? Um, this is the confidence that we have in approaching God that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. I think the key phrase there being according to his will first 15 and if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, whatever we know, we know that we have whatever we ask of him. And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask of
him, we know that we have whatever we ask. I feel like I quoted that wrong, but um, I think you get the gist. He's saying we can come in confidence approaching him and that he will hear us if it's according to his will. And if he hears us, then whatever we ask, we were, we're going to receive what that thing that we ask for, if it's according to his will. And so we need to come with confidence. And I think a lot of us, man, especially when we're caught in like a sin struggle or when we're doing some things that we know, grieve the heart of God, we have a hard time coming to God. It's hard to even approach God in our minds. This is wrong thinking. He wants us to approach him with confidence and know that, that he has already given us this confidence in Jesus Christ. Okay. He tells us that he, the writer of Hebrews tells us that we can come boldly to the throne of
grace, to find grace and obtain mercy, to help us in our time of need. We can come boldly. How writer of Hebrews, how can we people like me and like you, people that have ruined our lives, messed our lives up. How can we come boldly to the throne of grace? And we can do that because Jesus has made a way through his perfect life, his perfect death, that wherever we are and whatever we have going on, we can come to Jesus through his grace into the presence of almighty God because of what he did. Like we have the opportunity to come right to the throne of God and not die. I mean, back in the day, man, there was one person, the priest that could go into the holiest of holies and they tied a rope around his leg because being in the presence of God presence of God was so terrifying. It's so just intense. Like back then, if they had unconfessed sin, they would die. Um, but he's saying today, I want you to come boldly, man, boldly, like not with your head down, not just kind of sneaking in, not just come boldly to the throne of grace because of what Jesus did. Come with confidence. And when you come,
have this confidence that, that, that, that what God and you are going to share together is, it's going to stir some things up that he hears your prayers. And not only does he hear them, but, but that whatever we ask, if it's according to his will, know that we have whatever we ask of him. If we ask, cause oftentimes I found in my life, sometimes I won't ask. Sometimes I just assume God knows. Sometimes I'm just lazy and I don't want to pray. God guys, I don't want to be the guy in heaven. That's in the line of people that did not receive because they did not ask. They have not because they asked not it says that in scripture. I don't want to be one of those people in heaven that does, that, that does not have, because I did not ask. We should take all things to the throne of grace. But when I read this, you know, and twice it says, according to his will, it'll kind of change my prayers a little bit instead of me being like, Hey God, I need a $75 on my books next Tuesday. Maybe, maybe my prayer could be, Hey God, I pray that you would be my provider. I pray that I won't suffer any lack. And then just watch how he moves. He'll answer that prayer. But of course, God doesn't want you to lack. Of course he wants to be your provider. He might not put $75 on your books on Tuesday, but you're going to find that you didn't lack for anything. And he might answer that in such a way that you would have never seen it coming. I found that to be true in my own faith walk. We have to have this boldness and this confidence we have to actually pray first. We have to actually, um, take the time to sit down with God and come in boldness and confidence that he hears us. And that whatever we ask, if it's according to his will, he hears us and we will receive that. And so I just want to challenge you guys with that, man, pray some bold prayers, come in confidence, take some time, look at the way that you're praying and ask yourself, man, could I change my prayers up to be more in line with his will that it's according to his will. Cause oftentimes, you know, I'll pray for people that I want to be saved. People that I know that I love that are still on drugs. Um, people that are hurting people that are away from him. And, and, and I'll ask God, you know, Hey, can you just give them the same thing that you gave me in that hotel room? When you called me out of there and I was able to give all those drugs away and walk out of there, a free man, maybe he doesn't want to heal them that way. Maybe he doesn't want to save them that way, but I can just lift them up to him knowing that he hears me and knowing that they will be healed may not be this side of heaven, this, but, but he,
his ways are not our ways. Let me just give you an example. Uh, Jesus goes before pilot, right? And, and Herod and you know, anyone that knew him would be praying, God, deliver him from pilot, deliver him from Herod, but he doesn't, he gets taken. He gets beaten. He gets crucified. He gets tortured and he gets killed. Okay. That to our fleshly mind, like, man, God didn't answer that prayer. How could God let this happen? But see, God has, uh, his ways are higher than our ways. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. He had a bigger plan that accomplished the things that are according to his will and not our will. So sometimes when things seem like they shouldn't be God, how could you let that happen? He's got the big picture. He, and he will work it out and he's always working. And I just want to encourage you guys with that, that the believers that are down in correctional facilities, trying to figure out how they are going to change their life, get linked up with Jesus, get on this spiritual path so that when they hit the gate, they will not come back to prison. They will not turn back to drugs and crime and sexual sin and all those things. If you think that you're just going to be able to do it because you're deciding to do it. It never worked for me. It takes work. The spiritual growth takes work. It takes picking up our cross daily. It takes laying down our life. And this is something that you can be practicing now while you're in there, because it's hard in there. It's harder to walk this out in there than it is out here. I can just tell you that from experience. Forces come against you in there. People hate on you in there. It's hard to find like-minded believers that you can walk with in there. It's easy to do that out here. If someone's hating on you or things are coming against you, you can just get away from them. You know, we're in the world.
If we need people to walk alongside us, we can just come to church. There's hundreds of people here that are like-minded. And if you wanna get even more specific, you can join a group that has the same interests that you have, the same. You can get super like-minded people around you. So my point is, man, if you can somehow try to put these things into practice in the places that you're at, you're gonna be miles ahead by the time you get out. And for those of you that don't know him, man, Romans 10 says anyone who calls on the name of Jesus will be saved. You can do that right now. It is just that simple. Ask the Holy Spirit, man, to save you. Ask God to save you. Call on the name of Jesus to make you new. Surrender your life to him, whatever that looks like. It doesn't have to be perfect, just to the best of your ability and start putting these things into practice. Let me pray for you guys. Father, we love you and we thank you for all that you're doing in the jails, in the prisons, in the correctional facilities here at our church. God, how you've just linked us all together. They are part of our church family.
I know that you're smiling down when you see that. And I know you smile even wider when one of them comes after they get out to visit us here at Life Fellowship Church. What a blessing that is. And God, I just thank you that you're moving. I thank you that you're calling tens of thousands of people every week to our videos, to our teachings, to our services. What an honor. What an honor to have a spiritual family that big. And God, I pray that I get a chance to meet every one of them one day. And so God, I ask that you would bless them, that you would just continue to reveal yourself to them, that you would chase after the ones that you're after that don't know you, that you would just draw them to you and let them know that how much you love them and that you are not angry with them, that all that was poured out on Jesus. You're not disappointed in them, that all that was poured out on Jesus, that you are like a Luke 15 father standing on the porch, looking into the distance, waiting for them. And when you see them coming, you will run to them and meet them right where they're at. God, I thank you for that blessing. So God, I pray that the message that they're about to receive,
God, that they would land on fertile soil, that you would provide the increase, and God, that you would just do what only you can do in their lives. Give them hope, give them encouragement. Let them know, man, that you have a plan and a purpose for them, that they cannot fathom or imagine. And we give you all the praise and glory. In Jesus' name, amen. And you know, I just got one more question. Whose house? God's house. Let's give him some praise. All right, y'all, bring it all in. We're gonna stand all the way around the worship team. So find a spot somewhere around. You can sit on the floor, you can sit in a chair. You can sit with a friend. Maybe somebody you just met tonight. It's gonna be good. Come on, circle up, circle up, circle up. Just like heaven, come on. All right, y'all, bring it all in, bring it on in. No one can sit in the back. Y'all good, come up to the front right here. It's gonna get right around. So find a space around where you can get really close to the center. We don't want nobody far.
Get close, get close, get close. Find a place on the floor if you have to. Sit on a friend, we want you to get very close. Don't let anybody be far. You don't want nobody far. When you get to the front of us, we got a little bit of space. But we're gonna get right around. Find a place on the floor if you have to. Sit on a friend, whatever you need to do, it's okay. We're all family tonight, it's gonna be fine. Just kidding, fellas, don't sit on a friend. Alright, we y'all good? How y'all doing this evening? Good man, it's so glad to have you guys back in the house. Man, we took a quick two week off to get some rest to our team and so if you haven't seen us or heard of us in the last couple weeks, don't worry, we are not going anywhere. We're still all here. But tonight I want to give a quick welcome to Pastor Jake. Where's he at right now? Where's Pastor Jake at? And Zarin and Cottonwood Creek is right here hanging out with us tonight. Here's what I love about this. It doesn't matter what church we go to y'all. It doesn't matter what building we worship in. All that matters is that in unity, as one voice tonight, we worship the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. So tonight as we worship together, here's my encouragement for you. Find that place anywhere in this room tonight and make that place your place that you're gonna sit at for a good part of the night to really seek the Lord and what it is he wants to do in you. And I will tell you that as our team tonight was praying for tonight, it was really, really, really simple. And it was simply to bring us back to our first love. I don't know about you guys, but I'm gonna, I confess this to my team today. Sometimes I fall into a place of complacency where I get a little bit more comfortable when I come to church. Maybe sing the same songs, hear the same message, maybe walk out the same. And I asked God today, I said, Lord, would you put me in a place where I'm no longer going to be the same person that walked in when I walk out of this place today? And I know I'm not
the only one. Listen, I know work gets in the way. I know school gets in the way. I know relationships. Come on, somebody gets in the way. Okay. Circumstance gets in the way. But tonight is a night where we're all going to come to the feet of Jesus. And we're going to say, God, would you simply have your way in us tonight? Amen. Check this out. Psalm 34 says, I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul will make its boast in the Lord. The humble will hear it and rejoice. Oh, magnify the Lord with me and let us, someone say us, exalt his name together. I sought the Lord and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. They looked at them and were radiant and their faces will never be ashamed. This poor man cried and the Lord heard him and saved them out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him and rescues them. And here's my favorite. Come on. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good. Someone looked to never say that the Lord is good. The Lord is so faithful. You guys do every need that we have. Come on. Every need, he meets them. Every cry of your heart. He hears every tear that would fall from your cheeks. He sees it. The cries of your heart. He is right there watching and listening and waiting for some of us today. To call the name that is above every other name. And that is Jesus. So you do me a favor, would you close your eyes across this room? Before I pray, I want you all to think about a time in your life. That one time in your life where you first came to Jesus. The excitement that was in your heart. The way your heart was beating that night or that day, whether it be at a church camp or maybe a service. Maybe you was in your own bedroom all by yourself and the Lord came and met you exactly where you were at. I'm asking God tonight to give me that same exact feeling that I had when I first came to him. The way that I experienced the move of the Holy Spirit. The way that somebody led me to pray this prayer of salvation, where I would come to him and turn my back on sin. Turn my back on the things that please me. Just to turn to him and told him, Lord, would you have your way? Father, I thank you God for what you are about to do tonight. God, thank you for these group of people. Thank you Father for 713 Jesus. I pray a favor over Jake and Zarin tonight. God, I thank you for the cry of the hearts Lord. Thank you Father for this ministry God that you have blessed repeatedly Lord. And our cry is exactly like their cry. God that we would come back to you full force. That we would jump and that we would clap and that we
would cry. We would shout and that we would scream Lord. Only to give you the honor and the praise God that you deserve. That you would that one day God leave your comfort and Lord you would go to the cross Jesus. And on the way to the cross God you'd be beat and you would be kicked and you'd be punched God. You'd be whooped just for us God. That you would take on our sin. Jesus we honor you Lord. We love you. We thank you. We desire you Lord. Give us the fire that is in us God for you Jesus. Because we know that you are a faithful God. That you're a mighty God. That you're a good and you're a kind God. So Lord tonight help us God to see that through every circumstance. Every situation Lord. That we would cast our cares of the world aside. And that we will simply have our eyes fixed on you. And we pray all of this come on around the room in the mighty name of somebody say Jesus. Come on would you stand to your feet tonight and let's worship the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Let's do it in unity amen. Let's sing our praises to the risen Lord. We want to sing our praises to the risen Lord. We want to sing our praises to the risen Lord. We want to praise you Lord. We want to praise you. We want to praise you Lord. We want to praise you. We want to praise you Lord. We want to praise you. We want to praise you Lord. We want to praise you Lord. Awake our soul and sing, sing His praise aloud, sing His praise aloud. Awake our soul and sing, sing His praise aloud, sing His praise aloud. I have a reason to make a song, just to bless you, Jesus, just to make you smile. You've been so faithful, you've been so kind, you've made me so happy. Why would I stay quiet? Why would I stay quiet if you've been good to me? Why would I be sorry? Why would I be sorry for someone else to hurt you so much? Awake my soul and sing, sing His praise aloud, sing His praise aloud. Awake my soul and sing, sing His praise aloud, sing His praise aloud. Jesus, we come into this room to glorify, to magnify you. You've been so good, you've been so faithful. We sigh in this room tonight. Come on, if God has been good to you, would you just take the next few moments and just lift up your own song to Jesus tonight? Jesus, we honor you. We bless your holy name.

Thank you, Jesus, we praise you. Lord, we bless you, and we thank you, God. I am so excited to walk us through communion tonight and honored, very honored, because this is a very sacred moment. And I hope that if you've taken communion tons and tons of times or if this may be a first. time that you do it that we walk away understanding truly how sacred of a moment this is so if you do not have an element if you could just raise your hand we have people that will come around and give it to you but if you can just hold it in your hand grab it but i want tonight is a lot about remembering it's about remembering your first love it's remembering that first time that you accepted christ into your heart and if you have never tonight may be your night but it's important that we remember where we came from right in the old testament there was a tabernacle the tabernacle had a room that was called the holy of holies and only the high only the high priest is one high priest can go in there once a year to sprinkle blood on the mercy seat which if you want to learn more about the mercy seat i encourage you to read hebrews 9 because it explains that but there is a veil that separates separated us from god and only the high priest could go in there and sprinkle blood with the blood of a sacrificial lamb for himself and for the israelites and what happens is when jesus stood on that cross when he hung on that cross and his body was broken and his blood was poured out that veil tore in half so if you can picture picture the israelites put yourself in that moment
that you we could not go into that room we could not go into that room but when that veil was torn we all can go into that room being in one with god and i want to read and matthew because i'm not just making this up but this is what the word says it says and jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit and behold the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom and the earth shook and the rocks were split so do we understand if we think that the old testament was intense it's way more intense right now because in this moment before we remember what he did for us we have to get our hearts right we can't just take this isn't just a bread that we take and a drink that we take because it's a good thing to do and it's because jesus instructed us to do it but we have to make sure that we are purified that there is not unforgiveness in our hearts that there's nothing that's resentful and in i'm going to read in first corinthians where jesus had the lord's supper it was the last supper and he said and when he had given thanks he broke it and said this is my body which is for you do this in remembrance of me in this same way also he took the cup after supper saying this cup is the new covenant in my blood do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me but then in 27 it says whoever therefore eats the bread or drinks the cup of the lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the lord let a person examine himself then and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup for anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself and so it just in this moment if you can just take a moment just to examine yourself if there's anything in your heart if there's anything that you need to reconcile with the lord maybe it's somebody in your life that later on you can do that with but it's not about just drinking the or eating the bread and drinking the cup if you during this last supper he was around the table with his disciples he was around a table having this meal and this is what it truly means communion truly means it's not you don't do it by yourself you're around a table of believers right the brothers and sisters in christ he was around with his disciples and he said do this in remembrance i love that 713 young adults is here tonight this is a perfect example because it's not about just our church your church my table your table you're invited but that person's not invited i shared this with the banner a few years ago but it's about communion and being in unity with each other in the body of christ
that is the importance of it so when we take this he's saying be united with your brothers and sisters because you're remembering what i did for you my body was broken for you so that we are one with god my blood was shed so that you have the forgiveness of your sins right and so if you can just in this time after reflecting know that it's about unity it's time that the body of christ unites together amongst differences amongst being exactly the same we're not all like that but as we take this this is sacred this is sacred and i hope that you can take this to your children's children that in this moment we remember that song is so beautiful it exactly says what jesus did so if we can just take the bread father we thank you lord for your body that was broken for us you knew one day that that veil was going to represent you and that you were going to hang on that cross and be broken into so that we could be in unity and right standing with our father through you god you jesus you go before us you're a high priest and you go before us to the father on our behalf and we thank you and we do not take for granted let us partake and as we drink this cup your blood that was shed for us god every sin in this room every wrongdoing since past since present since future it is not about works god but as we sit at the one table that you have created for us father we have to go out in faith we have to believe in faith when he says take this bread for it is my body take this drink for it is the blood that is shared we cannot do that if we do not take it in faith to know that this was for me and you and we are cleansed from our sins and we are in right standing with you and we proclaim that and thank you and give you all the glory in jesus name let us partake father i just pray lord that every young adult here will go deeper tonight father as you remember lord what you did as you remember god our first love i pray that there will be such a fire that gets ignited in us lord like it was the first time realizing that we are not in darkness anymore but we are in light and god that we have eternal life in you forever and ever in jesus name amen just like judith said i think the lyrics of the song is so powerful um talking about all that jesus did for us dying on the cross being beaten and bruised for our transgressions and our iniquities and so i think we should just go back into that just for a second you know sing this chorus let's go let's sing thank you jesus for the cross thank you jesus for the blood you poured thank you jesus for the veil was torn thank you jesus
we praise the lord one more time thank you jesus for the cross you bore thank you jesus for the blood you poured thank you jesus for the veil was torn thank you jesus we praise you we thank you and one can wash away my sins Nothing but the blood of Jesus, and what can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus, and what can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus, and what can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus, singing oh precious is the flow that makes me white as snow No other fount I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus Oh precious is the flow that makes me white as snow No other fount I know, it was nothing but the blood of Jesus And what can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus And what can make me whole again? Oh we remember, it was nothing but the blood of Jesus And what can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus Oh and what can make me whole again? It was nothing but the blood of Jesus Oh precious is the flow that makes me white as snow Oh no other fount I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus Oh precious is the flow that makes me white as snow And no other fount I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus Oh and what can wash away my sins? It was nothing but the blood of Jesus And what can make me whole again? It was nothing but the blood of Jesus And what can wash away my sins? It was nothing but the blood of Jesus And what can make me whole again? It was nothing but the blood of Jesus Oh precious is the flow that makes me white as snow And no other fount I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus And oh precious is the flow that makes me white as snow Oh, I found I know. Jesus, we remember your sacrifice. We're in awe of your love.

like what is the experience like whether you're at school or at work tomorrow and someone would ask you a question man what does it look like to be a follower of Christ would you say hey you know what I go to church every Sunday every Thursday come on every Tuesday for you seven one three years right would it be like hey I read my Bible every day I pray I serve is that what it would look like today to be a believer in Jesus those are all important things but that is just the start of this thing we call being a believer in Christ the Bible says that they will know you by the fruit that is in your life by the fruit Jesus starts with relationship because you can do all the Christian things you can go to the camps you can go to the prayers you can go to the to the worship nights you can go to evangelism at UNT you can go to the Stonebriar mall now you can tell everyone about Jesus all you want to but is that what it looks like simply to be a follower of Christ there are people who know scripture come on now but don't know his voice we can memorize scripture real well if you're anything like me I am a horrible memorizer of anything let alone scripture I'd be my Bible to read it some of y'all are so gifted meant to know the Word of God and I believe that those of y'all who know the Word of God let that thing fester in your heart and let it change and mold who you are as people there are people who serve every week but have not spent time within my week we want to go into a church we want to lead worship we want to go serve the youth serve the young adults come on you want to go be an usher but yet you haven't spent time with him in his word all week so here's the reality Jesus never called us to build a religion he called us to walk with him isn't that crazy simple simple he called us to simply just be a human being not a human doing I think we feel like all we can do in this world is do do do do do and we feel like that gets us closer to Jesus it feels like we were that we earn badges or we earn a reward because we're doing all these things that that have the appearances of what a believer is but yet we lack spending time with the Lord and my encouragement for you guys today it's a simply walk with him it is not that difficult
take you guys to the book of john chapter 15. I am sorry if i'm a little bit stuttery this evening i'm telling you the message changed on me about 15 minutes ago so forgive me for my little bit of a lack here. I had a message planned it was amazing it was awesome it still is going to be awesome and i'll preach it some other time but tonight is a different night here's what it says in john 15 starting in verse 1 i am divine i am divine and my father is divine dresser every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away and every branch that bears fruit he prunes it so that it may bear somebody say more fruit you are already clean because of the word which i have spoken to you jesus said verse 4 abide in me and i in you as a branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine so neither can you unless you abide in me i am divine you are the branches he who abides in me and i in him he bears much fruit for apart from me you can do look to never say nothing verse six if anyone does not abide in me he's thrown away as a branch and dries up and they gather them and they cast them into the fire and they are burned if you abide in me and my words abide in you ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you my father is glorified by this that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples come on just as the father has loved me i also loved you abide in my love if you keep my commandment you will abide on my love just as i have kept my father's commandments and abide in his love verse 11 these things i have spoken to you so that you so that my joy may abide in you and that your joy may be made full somebody say amen to the word of god tonight abiding what does abiding mean stay close don't drift don't be disconnected because apart from me it says you can't do anything that you are doing then jesus gives him a picture of everyone would understand he didn't want to confuse anybody with the word of god he didn't want to give off these these stories that didn't really have much meaning or maybe much explanation but he gave them this word to give them a picture if you're anything like me i'm a picture person i like pictionary type of games right i need to be able to see something for me to understand israel was covered with vineyards a branch doesn't wake up every morning trying to squeeze grapes out it stays connected to the vine you apart from christ me apart from christ i cannot bear anything that would represent the father the life comes from the vine and the fruit is just the evidence that it is indeed connected because the second you're broken off listen we have a a couple bushes in our front yard in this last windstorm i'm sure that the wind broke off a section of my of my bush i was ticked i was like man this thing's about to die
so i picked it up and i put some stakes around it tied it up and say man nothing's gonna live and guess what a few weeks later which would have been yesterday the tree was dead and i'm like what is going on it's connected by just a little bit but yet it did not have enough connection to the main brand the main vine for it to live and so i had to remove it and throw it in the garbage unfortunately i think sometimes we have christianity backwards we spend all of our time trying to produce fruit bro think about it all the things that we do our instagram posts come on you got your bible out there i already know you're highlighting on there up close real quick with your right hand maybe you got a tripod set up at the at the coffee shop and you want everybody in the world to see that you are reading your bible you want everybody to see that you're worshiping you want everybody to see that you're at church on sunday to prove what you're trying to tell people that hey listen look at my life man i'm producing fruit instead of staying connected to the one who produces it see i will tell you that there's about five or six maybe seven guys back there today that was praying at 5 15 this afternoon listen you're not going to see an instagram post you're not going to see a picture but i'm telling you jesus knew we were in the room jesus knew that we were crying out to the top of our lungs jesus knew that we were ripping in time jesus knew that we were crying out for you and your generation today tonight he knew we were doing that. He knew that we were crying out for God to reveal to us and give us back his first love. It doesn't need to be documented. It doesn't need to be recorded. It doesn't need to be written about. But I can tell you that based on the word that I'm telling you today that it did indeed happen. What does following Jesus look like? Well, it looks like waking up and saying, Jesus, I need you today. Not about what I can do, not about my gifting, not about my opportunities, not the doors that I open up myself, not to the places that I want to be. But God, what do you have for me to walk in today? Because God, if it's not from you, guess what? I don't want to walk in that. I don't want to walk down that road. Lord God, I need you to wake me up today to give me breath, to give me purpose, to give me vision, to give me a mission, God. And I need you to literally take my feet one by one and begin to step forward to what you would have for me. Every day, following Jesus looks like forgiving when your flesh really, really wants revenge. Anybody else in the room today that sometimes hates another person? Come on, don't lie in church. We have unforgiveness in our hearts. Come on. I know I have it. I know
y'all have it. But why do some of us today ignore the fact that unforgiveness is really holding us back from following Jesus fully? You are keeping yourselves captive, young person. When you think you hate somebody or you're mad at somebody, you're holding the grudge. The reality is that you are putting yourself in a cell block saying, listen, I don't want to forgive you because you don't deserve it. Well, the last time that I checked, nobody in this room deserves forgiveness. But this man named Jesus decided long ago before the foundation of this world to say because of their sin today, yesterday and forever, I will forgive them. I will go to the cross. I will shed my blood. I will have bones. Literally bruised for the iniquity of his people and his bloodshed for you and I. Why can we be Christ like today and forgive those who have done us wrong? Listen, I'm not telling you it's easy. It was not easy for me to forgive my mom that left me when I was six months old with my single dad. It wasn't easy for me to celebrate Mother's Day year after year after year knowing that I did not have a mom to celebrate. But I knew if I wanted to get out of this cage that I was in, that I had to forgive somebody that I didn't really want to forgive, but I knew that it was a necessity. And if I called myself a believer in Jesus, by God, I had to forgive somebody. And it was hard, but I did it. It looks like choosing purity, come on somebody, when nobody's watching. We want to be pure in front of people, but behind the closed doors, what are you doing? What are you looking at? What are you watching? It looks like loving difficult people. Anybody have those in their families? Come on now. Difficult people other than me. I may be the difficult person in your life today. I understand. Forgive me, okay? I'm telling you now, we all have those, but you have to learn how to forgive those who are difficult people. It looks like opening your Bible because you want to hear his voice, not simply to check off a list off your one-year reading plan, or maybe not to open up your Bible, like I said earlier, to take a quick picture for your Instagram post, for your inspiration for the day. Opening your Bible doesn't mean that you're going to get your quick little reminder on your phone of a scripture popping up when you read it. And if somebody asks you if you read your Bible and your answer is yes, when really you just read a quick little reminder to tell you to get to your word. Come on, dust off that Bible today. It's not perfection. It's dependence. We have to learn how to depend, and to rely, and to lean on. And here's the word now, trust. To trust God that he's got everything in control, to trust God that he has a plan for us,
to trust him, to know that he has our best interest in his heart, to trust the Lord, to know that he will lead me in the ways that he should have me go, and I will conquer, and I will overcome everything that will come at me, because the enemy cannot lay his hands on the beloved of Christ, and that is you and I today, to trust. And here's what happens. The longer you stay with Jesus, the more you begin to look like Christ. Well, I'm a Christian. I understand. I'm a follower of Christ. I understand. I read my Bible. Thank God. I go to church. Amazing. I evangelize. Sweet. We're bringing these things up like it's brand new, like we don't know what to do as a believer. These are things that we need to be doing day in, day out. Doesn't happen overnight, but I'm telling you right now, people at your workplace, people at your school, people at your church, come on. Yes, there are heathens in church too, believe that or not. They will begin to notice something about you that's different. When you're at the door greeting and you give somebody a big hug or a big high five or a dab up, they're going to know something's different about you. What is different about you, man or woman, to God today? That somebody can notice the difference in you and they're going to want it. They're going to desire it. They're going to want to follow Christ because something in you is showing them that, man, he lives a good life. Why? Because he makes good decisions. She is a good steward of her finances. You don't need to react like you used to. Come on. My weakness, I've said this many times before, I'm on 75, somebody cuts me off. Come on. I may say a few words that might not be godly. That's my confession to you today. I'm going to remove my pastoral suit, okay, and just be Eddie for a second, okay?
I do get a little bit upset, maybe a lot upset, and I may go tailgate somebody, maybe almost random, but it's okay. Don't tell nobody because no one here is perfect. You don't talk like you used to. You don't respond like you used to. Someone does you wrong. Someone do you dirty. You want to respond with anger, and you want to respond with a remark that's going to hurt and cut them back because that's the right thing to do. They did it to me. I'm going to turn their cheek too. Come on. Y'all reading the Bible all wrong. Turn the other cheek. It means turn your cheek away from the situation and from the scenario and begin to ask God to give you strength to deal with these situations. Something's got to be different. That's exactly what Paul talked about in 2 Corinthians chapter five. You have to be different. You have to be peculiar. The Bible says you are going to be weird, and it's okay. There's not very many young people tonight, today, who would go to a church and clap their hands and lift their hands and jump up for joy because there is a Savior that saved them out of the pits of hell. There's not very many of those. You are few that are chosen to represent Jesus in this crazy, messed up, jacked up, ugly world. You are the light of the world. You are the salt of this world. Question is, do you see yourself in that way, or do you see yourself just another person
sitting down in a pew, taking up space, warming a seat for the next person? God believes in you. Jesus is crazy about you, young person. He sees a plan, a future for you. Man, it's so good to have Reggie back in the house. Come on. He sees you. He knows everything that happens in your life. Before we even think it, he already knows it. Imagine serving a God like that. It's the God that we serve. Some of y'all know I love me a little bit of history, maybe throw a little bit of geography in there. I know people don't like that stuff going to school, but it's okay. I loved it. I'm not a big fan of math, though. I love geography because in Israel, God teaches us, if you look at the map of Israel right now, or even back in the day, way up north around Mount Hermon, snow melts and feeds the Jordan River. That river flows into the Sea of Galilee, if you guys didn't know. Look at the map. If you've ever been there, it's beautiful. There's trees everywhere. They're green. They're lush. I mean, fish are in there. It's amazing. The most amazing place you can go. It's almost kind of like heaven probably, everything. Jesus did so much of his ministry around that lake.
He ministered to so many people around that lake. He talked to so many people, his disciples. A number of people would come up and just know that he was chilling there for him to be able to accept conversation. Why is it so full of life? And here's why. Because it receives water, and here is the key. It receives water, then it gives it away. You see, it has an outlet. The Jordan River keeps flowing south until it reaches the Dead Sea. Same water, same source, but one difference. The Dead Sea has no water, nowhere for it to go. The water has nowhere to go. It's stuck. It's literally cooped up in a body of water, and it has nowhere to go. Have you ever smelled water that sat for a long time before? It's stagnant. Let me just be honest. It smells like crap. It stinks, okay? It's not good. Salt builds up. Nothing lives there. Everything around the whole place is completely dead, because it offers no life. I think that's a good picture today. Don't get mad at me now. Some of the two neighbors say, don't get mad at them. I think that is a good picture of a lot of Christians today. We have the message flowing into us, we come to church, we hear another sermon, come on, we go to another conference, another phenomenal worship night, listen to another podcast.
We keep receiving and receiving and receiving, but we never ask, Lord, who can I encourage? God, who can I pray for? Who can I evangelize to? Who can I be a good example to? Where in the body of Christ can I serve today where it would make a difference? And by the way, whether you're a greeter or an usher, parking lot attendant, whether you're preaching on stage, come on, God looks at it no different. I would rather be in a parking lot than be in a pulpit if I could be dead honest with you guys today. So I do a little bit of both. And eventually our faith starts feeling just a little bit dry. Because we keep having this life poured into us and poured into us, and we keep hearing our friends encourage us, but yet we have no outlet into blessing somebody else with the things that we've heard. By the way, Jesus talks about discipleship all the time because he had 12. Y'all remember that? He had 12 disciples that he absolutely loved, and the Bible says that he served them. He loved them, he served them, he taught them exactly what to do. And eventually our faith starts feeling a little bit dry like I mentioned. Not because God stopped pouring out, because you stopped letting things out of you. Because you didn't become a conduit for God to flow through. So some people want to get on my case about serving. Listen, you cannot go wrong with serving people. You can't go wrong by offering yourself for somebody who needs help. Have y'all ever served a person that was mad before? And were they mad afterwards? They were probably thankful. My dad is the kind of person, if you serve my dad, he gets more mad. Listen, he's a war vet, he's 72 years old, he's hard-headed as all get out, Lord God help me. Let me tell you guys a quick little story. Last week he called me, actually called my sister, and he was in pain. He couldn't move his arm, he had surgery on one foot, the other foot wasn't working, the other arm wasn't working, I don't even know. He was basically crying. So my sister calls me, they're in Washington State by the way, like 3,000 miles away. She said, Dad's not in a good spot, and I'm like, what do you mean? She told me what's going on, so I called my dad, I said, Dad, how are you doing? Oh my gosh, I'm in pain, I can't do it, I can't move, I can't go pee.
I'm like, okay, I'm gonna call 911, man, you're struggling right now. No, no, no, I'm good, I'm good, I'm good, everything is fine. I'm like, Dad, don't lie to me, man. His medication ran out from the surgery, like, this dude was in a hurting place. Would y'all believe I had my sister call 911? Picture this now. The ambulance and all the attendants in the ambulance went to my dad's house, and for five minutes, my dad straight faked his injuries. I'm good. I don't know what he's talking about, I have no pain in my body. Look, I can walk, no problem. He was doing all this. Bro literally faked out the ambulance people. Why? He doesn't want help. If you bless somebody today, if you offer yourself for somebody today, I promise you, if they were mad before, they're not gonna be mad anymore. They're gonna be thankful and grateful that you helped them. Maybe tonight Jesus isn't asking you to do more. Maybe he's not asking you to be part of another ministry. Or tell more people about Jesus. Listen now, maybe not even read your Bible more. Maybe he's not asking you to do that today. Maybe he's just simply asking you, get this simplicity of this now, he's asking you to come back. Come back to your first love. Come back to that moment that you felt when Jesus saved you out of literally the pits of hell. Maybe you were living like hell, drinking, smoking, having sex, partying, clubbing, all the things that a lot of us would do in this world. Maybe you're on a religious tip.
Maybe you went to church but you didn't really act like a Christian nowhere else. And you fake Christianity. And that moment that he called you back, I know you remember it because I remember it. And you say, my son, my daughter, would you just allow me to bring you back to a place where you were excited, where your heart was jumping up and down within your body because you came into a relationship with me. Like I want you back. Jesus says today, son, daughter, I want you back. Are you willing to begin to walk towards me? Or is the world today more pleasing than coming back to him? Come back to your first love. Stay connected to the vine. Let him heal you. Let him heal what you've been carrying. this whole time that's been holding you back from serving God, let him use your story to testify about how good God is and how faithful he is and how merciful he is. Today as I was, we were praying back there, I'm like, Lord, I just want nothing but you. I have a lot of stuff, I've accomplished a lot, none of that means anything. When I go to heaven, I can't put all that stuff in my casket to take with me. How good are we today at building relationship? How good are we today about connecting with other people, other believers? See, it's real easy to connect with those who aren't believers because it's easy to be comfortable.
Because they're not gonna ask you how you're doing, they're not gonna ask you, have you read your Bible today? And what you're doing for devotion, where you at in the word of God today? They're not gonna ask you guys that. But when you have somebody that asks you that question, it becomes a challenging word. It becomes a word that's gonna sharpen you and mold you and make you look more like Christ. Isn't that what we all want? Man, I could tell you all I want, that's all I want, I want that, I want that, I want that, I want that, I want that. But then I get into my little weak moment where I wanna read my Bible but I'm so tired that I'm like, okay, I'm gonna read it in five minutes. Anybody guilty? I'm gonna read it in five minutes and you're out for eight hours. All he simply wants tonight, if I can have the team come back out, all he simply wants tonight is he wants you. He wants to commune with you. PG did just a phenomenal job with communion in explaining the body of Christ that was broken for you and I. He wants you back. He desires you. The Bible calls you the apple of his eye.
If you're wondering what that is, that's the middle part of your eye that if someone were to poke you, like they do in WWF, it'd hurt really, really bad. Like a double eye poke, you know what I'm talking about? He wants to be with you. He wants to hang, he wants to be your friend tonight. Let's just start there. Let's not make it too complicated. Let's not go too deep into what's happening. Let's simply say, God, I am here for you to speak to me and to love me exactly where I'm at. He doesn't need you, he doesn't even want you to change right now because change will be the fruit of you and being in a relationship with Christ. Because see, if you make a decision to change yourself right now, chances are that tomorrow you're gonna be right back to where you were today. But when you allow Christ to change who you are, that's longer lasting. And then we begin to talk about that fruit that you're gonna bear as a believer. Man, God has a call on your life. He loves you, he's crazy about you. And tonight, as we jump back into one more song of worship, man, I want you to just come as close to them as possible. I even want this area right here, Phil. Let's fill this area up right here if we can.
And let that be a conversation between you and the Father today. If you feel like you wanna confess something to somebody, we have a leadership team here, on 713, we have a leadership team as well. Y'all can feel free to pray for somebody. If you feel like you need to confess, which the Bible talks about, confess your sins to one another so you may be set free, do that tonight. But I'm simply asking you to go to the Father one-on-one, eye-to-eye, say, God, I am here, and I'm offering myself as a living sacrifice for you, Lord, to be able to do what you wanna do in me. It's simple. So would you stand to your feet tonight? Come on. We hear some people in the back. Come on, y'all, come on up, come on up. Everybody just scooch in, scooch in a little bit. We got space. We got space, we got space, we got space. Scooch in, scooch in. Is everybody scooching? One big old happy family, come on. Who's serving dinner tonight? We may have a taco bar out there, I don't know yet. Depends if it got picked up. Come on, scooch in, scooch in, scooch in. Come on, let's fill up right here.
We family tonight, y'all, we family. Capital C Church, Body of Christ. Come on, this is beautiful. Beautiful. So Father, we're so grateful that you would take the time to call us back to you. Lord, we know, I know I'm hard-headed. And there are times that you speak to me, God, and I don't hear you because the noise of the world is so loud. The noise of circumstance is so loud. The noise of negative friends, God, is so loud. But Lord, tonight I wanna make a decision, Jesus, to hear your voice. Bring us back tonight, God, to simple, simple things, not overcomplicated, not too hard to understand or crazy, but Lord, simple to just come to the feet, the foot of the cross, to be able to express where we're at today, our feelings, our mindsets, God, our dead dreams, our dead vision, God, that you would bring life into them. And Lord, I pray in the name of Jesus, favor over every person that is in this room tonight. God, every person online, I pray the favor of God would rest upon their shoulders, Lord. And Lord, as we sing this song, some of us tonight maybe need to close our eyes when we sing these songs, that way there's no distraction, no looking to your left or to your right or in front of you or behind you, but it's simply a conversation between you and Jesus. So Lord, we honor you and we love you and we thank you in Jesus' mighty name, let's worship. I want to see Jesus, to reach out and touch Him, and say that I love Him, and open my eyes, Lord, help me to listen, open my eyes, Lord, I want to see Jesus, open my eyes, open my eyes, Lord, I want to see Jesus, to reach out and touch Him, and say that I love Him, and open my eyes, Lord, help me to listen, open my eyes, Lord, I want to see Jesus, open my eyes, Lord, I want to see Jesus, open my eyes, Lord, I want to see Jesus, open
my eyes, Lord, I want to see Jesus, open my eyes, Lord, I want to see Jesus, open my eyes, Lord, I want to see Jesus, open my eyes, Lord, I want to see Jesus, open my eyes, Lord, I want to see Jesus, open my eyes, Lord, I want to see Jesus, open my eyes, Lord, I Open my eyes. I want to see Jesus. I want to sit at your feet, drink from the cup in your hand. Lay back against me. Feel your heart beat. This love is so deep. It's more than I can stand. I want to melt in your peace. It's overwhelming. I want to sit at your feet, drink from the cup in your hand. Lay back against you and me. Feel your heart beat. This love is so deep. It's more than I can stand. I want to melt in your peace. It's overwhelming. I want to melt in your peace. I want to melt in your heart. This love is so deep. It's overwhelming. I want to melt in your peace. It's overwhelming. I want to melt in your heart. This love is so deep. It's more than I can stand. I want to melt in your heart. Lay back against you and me. Feel your heart beat. This love is so deep. It's more than I can stand. I want to melt in your peace. It's overwhelming. I want to melt in your heart. This love is so deep. It's overwhelming. I want to melt in your heart. This love is so deep. It's overwhelming. I want to melt in your heart. This love is so deep. It's overwhelming. I want to melt in your heart. This love is so deep. It's overwhelming. I want to melt in your heart. This love is so deep. It's overwhelming. I want to melt in your heart. This love is so deep. It's overwhelming. I want to melt in your heart. This love is so deep. It's overwhelming. I want to melt in your heart. We, like Pastor Eddie was saying, we've got a nacho bar out in the front. I think there's a lot more people than we were expecting, but remember, in the Kingdom of Heaven, the first will be last and last will be first, so keep that in mind if you don't get nachos. Love you guys. You are dismissed.
