The Goodness of God - Part 21 - The Names of God, Part V

We're living in victory. The battle's won in victory. We've overcome whatever comes our way. You're worthy to taste the seed. We're living in victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Hello, this is Mike Kennedy with the Living in Victory broadcast. We're going to continue our series today on the goodness of God. This is part 21 of the series. Now, of course, this series could have a few hundred parts and still not come close to even covering everything about the goodness of God. He is a good God, and He wants to bless you. He wants to prosper you. He wants to bring you up. Hallelujah. That's just who He is. Amen? This is part 5 of a series about the names of God that reveal the character of God. The series itself is based on Psalms 34, verse 8, and John 10, 10. If you would join your faith with me, let's pray. Father, we come to You. We ask You for light, revelation of Your Word. Help us to see Your goodness. Help us to understand the plans You have to prosper us, to do good to us. Father, to walk in Your goodness. Show us changes we have to make to experience Your goodness. Father, we thank You for it. In the name of Jesus, amen. Well, the series is based on Psalms 34, verse 8. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the man who trusts in Him. I trust in Him. Amen? That word trust can also be translated as faith in Him. Do you have faith in the goodness of God?

If you're a child of God, a son of God, if you are a Christian, you should believe in His goodness because He is good to you. Just think, rather than going to hell, you spend eternity in heaven. Streets of gold, no pain, no suffering, just goodness. John 10, 10 says the thief does not come except to steal and to kill and to destroy. That's all he is about. That's all he can do is to steal, kill, destroy, lie, hurt people. He can't create anything. He can twist things, but he can't create. He's not the creator. God is the creator. It goes on to say, this is Jesus speaking. I have come that they may have life and they may have it more abundantly. Oh, glory to God. That's who our good God is. Each of the names of God carry significance about His nature, His character, and the relationship He desires to have with His children, that you and me, those of you who have received Jesus. The names are not just titles, but powerful declarations of who He is and who He wants to be in our lives. Amen? It's not just a label or a brand. It's a description that carries weight about who He is. It defines His goodness. We've already covered nine different names of God that define who He is. Today, we're going to talk about Yahweh Suri, a rock, Yahweh the rock. It means Yahweh, the boulder, the rock that is unmovable. Hallelujah. Psalms 18.2 says, The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my strength in whom I will trust, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. This is who God is to us. He's a rock. That means He does not move. He does not change. He's a fortress and a deliverer.

A fortress protects us. A deliverer will take us from an issue out of that issue. It will deliver us. It will set us free. He who the Son sets free is free indeed. This is who God is, Yahweh the rock. Amen? It goes on to say, I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised. Praise, so shall I be saved from my enemies. You've got enemies trying to attack you, turn to the rock, amen. Get founded on the rock, the word, amen. And he will deliver you, he will show you how to come up, how to walk in liberty, walk in victory, walk in freedom. That's what God desires for each and every one of us. Matthew 7, 24 says, therefore, whoever hears these sayings of mine and does them, not just hears them, not just goes to church, not just listens to the broadcast, not just even reads the Bible, but actually does them, takes action on them, amen, and does them. See, the doer of the word is the rock which things are built upon that last. People who actually do the word, they build upon the rock of the word of God. It's a foundation that lasts, that does not move. It will produce blessings in your life, prosperity in your life. It will produce relationships at last, amen.

It will produce quality health, amen. And it goes on to say, I will liken him to a wise man, not a dumb man, not a stupid man. Now, who is this? A wise man who built his house on the rock. A wise person builds their life on the word of God. That's the foundation is built upon. That's what you should be doing if you want success in your life, build it upon the rock of the word of God. Verse 25, in the rain descended, the floods came and the winds blew and built on that house. And it did not fall for it was founded on the rock, founded on the rock. That's a foundation, that's what it's built on, amen. Glory to God. See, there's people that build their house on sand, people that build their house on rock. You know, I live in Florida, which is mainly sand. And you have to have a strong foundation in Florida. You've got to dig deep if you're along the coast because the hurricanes will come and it blow that house right away, amen. You need to build it on a solid foundation. You know, in this situation here, it talks about two different groups of people, a wise person and an unwise person. One built their house on the rock on the word of God. If your life is not built on God's word, you will fall someday.

You will go through a lot of trials and tribulations and not overcome. You may say, oh man, I've got a great life. I'm living in prosperity, freedom, I'm winning at work. Have you seen the end where God comes back? And if your life is not written in the books in heaven because you didn't receive Jesus, you end up in hell. That's not a quality life. That's not a life you really want. This life on this earth is the shortest thing we will ever do. It's a vapor, it's gone in a minute. Those of you who have been around for 50, 60 years, look back, it's gone by so fast, amen. Verse 26 of Matthew chapter seven says, but everyone who hears these sayings of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. You either do God's word, be a doer of the word, do his will, or you're foolish. That's what the word says. I didn't say it, the creator of heaven and earth who knows the beginning till the end said it. In other words, if you don't build it on the word at the end of your life, and you get to the judgment seat of Christ, you're gonna realize how foolish you were. I'm not calling you a fool. I'm saying how foolish your decisions were, and you will have tremendous regrets.

Think about it for eternity. I don't desire that for you. God doesn't desire that. He wants to bless you. He wants to prosper you in this life and throughout eternity. Why would you not accept that deal? A deal where Jesus already bought and paid for your sins. He went to hell for you, so you don't have to. Man, that's a good gig. I'd take that any day of the week, amen. When you know, I used to be in sales in the software industry, and we were always looking for a good deal, a good gig. This is the best you will ever find, amen. Verse 27, and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on. on that house, and it fell, and great was its fall. Whack, slam, came down. See, the doer of the word had storms, attacks that came, but it overcame them all. Even after the storm came, blew it, maybe did a little bit of damage here, they did not fall. They overcame and obtained the prize. I didn't say there wasn't challenges. There wasn't hurdles to overcome. You can't be an overcomer if there's not something to overcome, amen? We should overcome.

We should fight the fight. We should stand in faith and live in victory. Overcoming, amen? If you're not overcoming, that's because you're not doing it right. And if there's nothing that is coming against us, you may wanna check yourself as to whether or not you're a doer of the word, because the enemy will attack if you are a doer of the word. He wants to keep you out of victory. In good weather, the house looks good, looks fine, but man, it crumbles like a wet paper bag under pressure, under attacks, amen? So many people in our nation today are on drugs for mental issues. They can't handle it, so they have anxiety medicines. I'm not judging you. I'm saying there's a better way. That's to receive what Jesus has for us, amen? Cast the care of it over onto him. Everybody has challenges, whether it be a mental challenge, a physical challenge, thought life. Everybody gets attacks in their life. The question is, are you gonna overcome them, defeat them, amen? Are you gonna keep fighting that fight? Fight to the end, never quit, amen? Have a foundation based on the word of God.

Rebellion puts you in an unsafe position. Deuteronomy 32, verse nine says, for the Lord's portion is his people. Jacob is a place of his inheritance. He found him in a desert land and in the wasteland, a howling wilderness. It doesn't sound good to me. He encircled him, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. So if you're in a wilderness situation, you're going through a bad situation, an attack, you may be in prison, you may be in a financial situation, or an issue with a relationship, health, at work, turn to the Lord and he will encircle you. He will protect you. He will instruct you on how to get out. The question is, is will you listen? Will you do what he says? Will you act upon it? Because whenever this happened, he became the apple of God's eye because he obeyed and did it. Verse 11, as an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings. So the Lord alone led him, only the Lord led him. And there was no foreign God with him. And he made him ride in the heights of the earth, that he might eat the produce of the fields. He made him draw honey from the rock,

and oil from the flinty rock, curds from the cattle, and milk of the flock, with fat of the lambs, and rams of the bread of Bashan and goats, with the choice of sweet. And you drank wine and the blood of the grapes. This is a quality of life. This is where God brought him whenever he was in the middle of a wasteland, a desert, a wilderness. You may be going through a situation and feel like you're in a wilderness, turn towards the rock, and he will bring you up and bring you out, amen? The 11th name of God I wanna go over is Jehovah Sidcanu, the Lord, our righteousness. Jeremiah 23, six says, this is where this name is introduced, pointing to God as a source of our righteousness. It prophetically refers to Jesus Christ, who makes us right with God through his sacrifice. Glory to God. It's a, Sidcanu is an acquittal. It's a legal term where we have been made right, standing in rightness in the court of God. Right standing given to us because of what Jesus did, amen? We have been justified by faith in Jesus Christ, amen? He made us righteous because he became the lamb of God. In other words, he became the sacrifice.

for our sin. Jehovah's Sidcanu is a big deal. Hell is a big problem. Amen. You do not want to go in hell. People say, I'll see you in hell brother. That ain't cool man. You do not want to go there. It is not a fun place. It's fervent heat. It's turmoil. It's hate. It's fear. It's bitterness every day of your life all day long. No rest. Just anxiety, fear, pain. Amen. But see, because of what Jesus did, He made us right. Heaven is a big deal. Jesus sacrificing Himself on the cross, making us have a new right ability to stand before God like we never sinned is huge. It's massive. Amen. This is the one of the last things that was mentioned regarding the names of God in the Bible, in the Old Testament. The last name given to God in the Old Testament is Jehovah Shammah. The Lord is there. God who moves in permanently and stays. That's what that means. Jehovah Shammah. The Lord is there. Ezekiel 48 35 says, All the way around shall be 18,000 cubits. And the name of the city from that day shall be the Lord is there. The Lord is there. Where is the Lord? He's in the city. Let's talk about that. This is the last scripture in the book of Ezekiel. The name signifies God's presence with His people. It reminds us that God is near, dwelling among His people, and never abandoning them. The Lord's city will be there. Where? Where you and I are going. Amen. Not He will just visit. He will be there. Amen. Now this is the Old Testament. It signifies a new state of salvation. And then the first name in the New Testament that describes God is when Jesus arrives. So the last one was prophetic. The Lord is there. And the first name in the New Testament that was given for a title of God is Emmanuel. Matthew 1 23 says, Behold the Virgin shall be with child and bear a son and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which is translated God with us. So the Old Testament, they're prophesying God will be there. In the New Testament, it says God is with us. When Jesus was born, hallelujah, Emmanuel is more than God who sees, but God who is inside us. Amen. He relates with us. Emmanuel covers every Old Testament name given of God. All combined into one word, Emmanuel. God with us. Not distant, but Jesus is here and now. Whenever He died, He sent the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, to be with us. John 1 14 says, And the Word became flesh

and dwelt among us. That's Jesus. And we beheld His glory and the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. This word here, and it says, And the Word became flesh. That's a Greek word, logos, with us in flesh. Amen. The Word became flesh. That's creative power. Hallelujah. God spoke and the galaxies were created. Now God became flesh. He joined us as the Son of God. Amen. Remember that God had three in one. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. John 1 29 says, The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. The Lamb of God is like the lamb that we talked about earlier with the provider, with Abraham. Whenever he went to sacrifice his son and the angel stopped him because he was in process of doing it, the angel stopped him, and the Lamb was there as a sacrifice. Abraham was willing to sow his son as a sacrifice. Because of that, God had a legal right to give Jesus, oh my, for you and me to have eternal life. The word dwelt here is a Greek word, skein, which means a tent or a tabernacle. Not just a building with a high priest sanctuary in it, but God dwelling in us, within us. Glory to God. John the Baptist declares Jesus as the Lamb of God. of God. Old Testament prophecy comes into reality with this declaration. Jehovah Jireh became Emmanuel in this situation. Hallelujah! Glory to God! And then we get into Alpha and Omega. Revelations chapter 1 verse 8. Remember, the first book of the Bible defined God. In Genesis chapter 1, the first verse. And now we're at the last book of the Bible. In Revelations chapter 1 verse 8, it says, I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty. In other words, the Alpha and Omega is the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. God's power is absolute. He's from the beginning to the end. Revelations 22 12 says, And behold, I am coming quickly, and my reward is with me to give to everyone according to his work. It's not based on what is equal, but what is right. There's no socialism in heaven. Socialism is ungodly. Let's take it from people who have worked, people who have done things, and just take it away and give it to people who haven't. That's not right. Equality is not fair.

Equality means equal share no matter what you do. No, you should be paid according to what you do. Amen? A man is worthy of his wage. You don't work, you shouldn't get paid. The Bible says you don't work, you don't eat. Socialism is not of God. Salvation is not based on our work. Salvation is based on what Jesus did, but rewards are based on what we do. Amen? Revelation chapter 22 13 says, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are those who do his commandments, that do his commandment. Those are the people who are blessed, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. Isaiah 44 6 says, Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts. I am the first and I am the last. Besides me there is no God. So if you think that there's Allah, Buddha, they're all dead. The fat little Buddha, he's dead. Allah, he dead. They're still in the grave. Amen? The only one and true God shows up at times of crisis, times of weakness, to strengthen, to protect. Other gods, so-called gods, show up when things go well to try to take credit for it. They show up in pride. Amen? That's devilish. That's actually demons showing up. Satan's showing up. They have no power. Satan's been brought to a big old zero, a knot. Amen? Glory to God. God is one and only true God. Remember we talked about El Roy, that when Hagar was alone in the wilderness, God came. El Shaddai, when Abraham is old and could not have kids. Jehovah Jireh, when the knife was raised and Isaac was to be sacrificed, he was the provider. Jehovah Rapha, healer. He is your healer if you receive it. Amen? Jehovah Shalom, peace. Gideon, hiding rather than going to battle. Hiding, peace upon him. He will be your peace in every situation. And then Emmanuel shows up in a feeding trough. Jesus in a manger to provide eternal life for us, to make us righteous, to set us free. If you need help, the good God that we serve will bring you up and out. No matter what you need, it's on the list of His names. Roy, Yahweh, Elohim, El Shaddai, El Elyon, Jehovah Jireh, Rapha, Nisi, Shalom, Suri, Sidkenu, Shammah, Emmanuel, Alpha and Omega. Glory to God. Everything you need in every situation is in these. And closing, before we close on this portion of the series on the names of God, I want

to mention a few other names. El Olam, the everlasting God. It's mentioned in Genesis 21-33 where Abraham calls on the Lord. Amen? It's a declaration of God's eternal and unchanging nature. He does not change. He will not change from the beginning to the end. Q-A-N-N-A, Qana, is used as the first commandment depicting a marital relationship between God and believers. God desires all our praise for himself and no one else and he is worthy of all our praise. Amen. Jehovah's Sabbath, the Lord of Hosts, it denotes a military context and defines God's sovereignty over all armies, spiritual and earthly. Amen. If you're under attack, turn towards him and he will bring you up and out. And then, Adonai, it means the Lord, our master, and is used when acknowledging God's authority in dominion. It's found in Genesis chapter 15 verse 2. It signifies submission and reverence to God's rule over all things. His rule over everything from the beginning to the end. Amen. His rule as God of Creator, God of love. He is love. 2nd Timothy 1 7 says, For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love in a sound mind. If you're in a fight and you talk fear, you're in a worse situation. Talk faith and Jesus will show up. You talk fear and fear shows up. Amen. Don't be timid. Don't allow fear to rule you. Be led by the Spirit of God. Let peace rule and reign in your life, not fear. Resist fear. Amen. Resist fear. Resist pride. Resist strife. Amen. And serve God and trust him. Cast all your cares on to him and he will bring you up and out and into victory. Amen. Well, hallelujah. Well, this is Mike Kennedy with Living in Victory.
