The Goodness of God - Part 20 - The Names of God, Part IV

Hello, this is Mike Kennedy with the Living and Victory broadcast. We're going to continue our series today on the goodness of God. This is part 20 of the series, but we've been focused on the names of God that reveal the character of God. His goodness is part of His character. This is part four regarding the names of God. The series itself is based on Psalms 34, verse 8 and John 10, 10. Psalms 34, 8 says, Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good. We need to taste it or experience His goodness. If you haven't experienced His goodness, if you question His goodness, go back to part one, build your faith up, get in the Word and understand what He says about His goodness and what we have to do to experience His goodness. You've seen more goodness in your life than what we know. There's been times where the enemy wanted to take you out and He protected you due to His mercies that endure forever. John 10, 10, the thief or the enemy, Satan comes for three reasons, to steal, to kill and to destroy. But I have come, Jesus has come to give us life and life abundantly. Amen. You've experienced any good things, any invocations, any good times, peace, rest, sleep. That's because of Jesus. The enemy would not want you to ever rest. He would want you to suffer, be in lack, be in pain and then be taken out early. Each of the names of God carries a deep significance about His nature, His character, what He wants to do with His children. Amen. They're not just titles but powerful declarations, descriptions about who He is to us. They're not just labels or a brand. Amen. They define goodness. Join with me in prayer. Heavenly Father, we ask You to show us more about Your goodness, Your plans to prosper us and bless us and how to experience the things that You have planned for us, to take them, to receive them by faith, to walk in Your goodness, to live in Your goodness. Father, I ask You to help me share this according to Your Word properly, that light go forth, that we experience more of the good things You have for us. In the name of Jesus, Amen. Glory to God. Well, we've already talked about a few of the different names of God. We've talked about seven of them. Jehovah-Ra, which is also El-Rohi, the Lord my Shepherd, the God who sees when nobody else does. You may be in prison. You may be feeling lonely. Everybody in your family has left you. Your spouse left you. God still sees you and you matter to Him. And He will meet your needs. He will come into your atmosphere and give you peace beyond understanding if we turn towards Him. Yahweh, the self-existent One. He is God without limit, without end,

the Creator of heaven and earth. We talked about Elohim, the Mighty Creator. God who creates from nothing. This is where we talked about this name of God is in Genesis chapter 1, 35 times in 31 verses. El Shaddai, Lord God Almighty. God who is enough. The Lord God Almighty, the All-Sufficient One. Man, He has might. He has power. He creates universes, Amen, just with spoken word and faith. El Elyon, the Most High God, Maker of heaven and earth. God who is above anything that threatens you or comes at you. He is above it all. Amen. He's got power. Jehovah Jireh, the Lord will provide my provider, Amen. We talked about Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals. These are all PART OF HIS ATTRIBUTES, PART OF HIS CHARACTER, WHO HE IS THAT DESCRIBE THE GOODNESS OF GOD. IF YOU'RE GOING THROUGH SEVERE PAIN, IF YOU'VE GOT A DISEASE THAT DOCTORS HAVE IDENTIFIED, IF YOU'RE GOING THROUGH LACK, AMEN, HE IS YOUR SOURCE OF ABUNDANT SUPPLY OF EVERY NEED YOU'VE GOT, WHETHER IT BE HEALING, FINANCES, PROTECTION, PEACE, AMEN, EVERYTHING WE NEED IS FOUND IN HIM. GLORY TO GOD, HE IS SO GOOD TO US. TODAY WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT JEHOVAH NISI, THE LORD IS MY BANNER. IN OTHER WORDS, GOD FIGHTS BATTLES FOR US, BUT THE BANNER IS THE RALLYING POINT, WHERE WE GO AND THE SYMBOL WHERE WE HEAD TO AND RUN TO IN THE BATTLE, AMEN? YOU KNOW, THE HEBREWS IN THE DESERT WHEN THE VIPERS WERE BITING THEM, SNAKES WERE BITING THEM, OH, VENOMOUS SNAKES, AND IF THEY DID NOT LOOK AT THE SERPENT ON THE POLE THAT GOD TOLD MOSES TO BUILD AND KEEP THEIR EYES STAYED ON THAT, THEY WOULD DIE, BUT IF THEY KEPT THEIR EYES ON THE SERPENT, WHICH WAS A SYMBOL OR A LIKENESS OF JESUS ON THE CROSS, KEEP YOUR EYES ON HIM AND YOU WILL COME UP AND OUT. WELL, THE FLAG, YOU'VE SEEN MOVIES WHERE THE ROMANS OR THE GLADIATORS HELD A FLAG WHENEVER THEY WENT INTO BATTLE. THEY HELD THE FLAG UP AND EVERYBODY AROUND COULD SEE IT AND IT WOULD SHOW WHERE THE LEADERS WERE TAKEN, WHERE TO GO, AMEN? WHERE THEY'RE HEADED. IT WAS A RALLYING POINT. SO PART OF THIS WAS GIVEN WHEN MOSES HAD HIS HANDS IN THE AIR WHEN THEY WERE IN BATTLE AND OVER AMALEK.

WHEN MOSES WAS PRAISING GOD WITH HIS HANDS IN THE AIR, THEY WERE WINNING. BUT WHEN HE GOT TIRED HIS HANDS WOULD FALL, HE'D TAKE A BREAK. WELL THAT'S WHEN THE AMALEKITES WOULD START WINNING. SO AARON AND HER SAW THIS. THEY RECOGNIZED IT. SO WHAT DID THEY DO? THEY BOUGHT IN A PLACE FOR MOSES TO SIT. SO AT LEAST HE WAS SITTING DOWN RATHER THAN STANDING ALL DAY DURING THIS WAR AND THEY WOULD HOLD HIS HANDS UP AS HE WOULD PRAISE GOD AND THE ENEMY WAS DEFEATED. YOU SAY WELL THAT'S A STRANGE WAY TO WIN. NO IT ACTUALLY PUTS THE SPIRITUAL FIRST. IT'S THE WAY YOU TRULY OVERCOME. SEE THE SPIRITUAL ALWAYS COMES BEFORE THE NATURAL. AND THEY ARE CONNECTED TOGETHER. IT WASN'T JUST THE ABILITY OF THE ARMY. YEAH THEY HAD TO GO OUT. THEY HAD TO FIGHT. WE'RE SUPPOSED TO FIGHT. FAITH WITHOUT ACTION. FAITH WITHOUT FIGHTING IS DEAD. THEY HAD TO GO UP AND DO THINGS. YOU KNOW HEALING HAPPENS THE SAME WAY. YOU'VE GOT THE SPIRITUAL SIDE WHERE BY THE STRIPES OF JESUS WE WERE HEALED BUT WE GOT TO FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH AND TAKE IT BY FAITH. BUT WE MAY NEED TO GO TO THE DOCTOR. THANK THE LORD FOR SCIENTISTS FOR DOCTORS FOR TECHNOLOGIES THAT CAN HELP US AMEN. BUT EVERY ONE OF US HAS A SPIRITUAL ASPECT TO HEALING. WHEN GOD CREATED US HE PUT HEALING IN OUR BODY. YOU SAY I DON'T KNOW IF I BELIEVE THAT. WELL DO YOU HAVE A CUT FROM WHENEVER YOU WERE FIVE YEARS OLD WHEN YOU SCRAPED YOUR KNEE

AND YOU STILL HAVE BLOOD COMING OUT OF IT. NO BECAUSE THERE IS INHERENT HEALING IN OUR BODIES BECAUSE OF THE CREATOR AMEN. Exodus chapter 17 verse 15 says AND MOSES BUILT AN ALTAR AND CALLED ITS NAME THE LORD IS MY BANNER. FOR HE SAID BECAUSE THE LORD HAS SWORN THE LORD WILL HAVE WAR WITH AMALEC FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION. IT'S JEHOVAH NISI. THIS HERE IS THE ORIGINAL HEBREW THE LORD IS MY BANNER. AND IT MEANS GOD IS OUR PROTECTOR. HE'S OUR GUIDANCE. HE PROVIDES VICTORY OVER THE ENEMY AMEN. IT'S NOT JUST A FLAG OR A BANNER ON A POLE. IT'S A RALLYING POINT TO RUN TO FOR THE VICTORY. YOU KNOW GOD WILL FIGHT OUR BATTLE BUT WE HAVE TO JOIN IN THE FIGHT. WE'RE NOT JUST GOING TO SIT BACK OH GOD DO IT FOR ME NO. HE TELLS US TO GET UP. JUST LIKE HE TOLD KING DAVID GO FORTH TAKE OUT THE ENEMY AMEN. IT'S THE BANNER THAT YOU RUN TO SHOWS WHAT SIDE YOU ARE ON AMEN. WHO YOU'RE FIGHTING FOR. YOU KNOW TYSON AND HOLYFIELD IN A WORLD RENOWNED FIGHT TYSON SAID I'M GOING TO TAKE YOU OUT. I'M GOING TO MAKE YOU PAIN I'M GOING TO MAKE YOU SUFFER I'M A SOUTHPAW. AND HOLYFIELD SAID THIS FIGHT THIS BOXING MATCH IS NOT AGAINST YOU. You and me, but it's my God against your God. Of course, Tyson's a Muslim, he was whooped, he was hurt, he was whooped again. Oh man, he wished he'd never gotten to ring with the smaller fighter. See, but if God is for us, we win. And God is for his children, he's for me. If you're a child of God, he's for you.

You are more than an overcomer through Jesus Christ. Psalms 20, verse seven says, so trust in chariots. Some trust in chariots, I don't. Some trust in horses, I don't trust in our military, I don't trust in a 401K, I trust in God. And it says, some trust in chariots, some in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord. In other words, it doesn't matter how strong our military is, if you stay on God's side, he will bring you up, he will bring you out, amen? We must let the Lord fight for us. And one way to do that is start giving him praise, thanks for the victory. Even though we don't see a way up, we don't see a way out, start giving him thanks ahead of time. Remember, he raised his hands and started praising God and then the victory was won, the battle turned. Start praising God and you will start seeing your battle turn. Faith that is based on love works miracles. The next one is Jehovah Shalom, the Lord is peace. You've heard a lot of people in the Jewish community, Shalom, peace. Let's look at Judges 6, 11 through 13, we're gonna look at a lot of this in Judges, but this is about Gideon and his 301 percenters. You know, we minister to 1% outlaw bikers and tell them how good God is. Well, these were the first 1%ers. It says in Judges 6, 11 through 13,

now the angel of the Lord came and sat under the terebinth tree. In other words, that's a poison sumac bush, great place to hide out if the enemy's coming because no one's coming close. But I don't want poison sumac, so he's hiding out in fear. And it goes on to say, which was in Aphra, which belonged to Joash, the Asbizrite, while his son Gideon threshed wheat in the wine press in order to hide it from the Midianites. So here he is, he's hiding out underneath this sumac bush that's overtaking and overlooking the shadowing of this wine press where he's in there where they couldn't be seen. He ain't coming by the poison and he's hiding inside this wine press that's supposed to be in there to make wine. He's in a big barrel hiding out, right? In fear, so he's in this barrel, this pit, hiding out from the Midianites. Verse 12, and the angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, the Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor. What? He's hiding out in fear. He's a farmer afraid. He's not, doesn't look like a mighty man of valor to me. The NIV says, mighty hero, the Lord is with you. See, the angel of the Lord spoke in faith. He declared what is not as though it was. The word says, declare things that are not

as though they were. Declare yourself healed. Declare yourself having victory, winning, restoration. Amen, even when you don't see a way out, you don't see how it's gonna get there. No, I have asked the Lord for mercy. I'm a tither, I'm a sower. He's bringing me up, he's bringing me out. I have this in the name of Jesus because God is on my side. Don't forget to give God the glory, him the praise for it, amen. So this angel declared, Gideon was a mighty man of valor, a brave warrior when he was hiding out in fear. You may be in a court battle. You may be in a situation, a competition at work. You may be on a wrestling team in high school, a boxing team, whatever, karate. Remember that this is up to you and the Lord to both fight. Get the Lord fighting on your side, amen. Raise your head above the competition, above the battle, and get your eyes on Jehovah Nissi, the banner. Get your eyes on him. If you're looking down here and you're in fear, your eyes aren't high enough. Start looking higher. Look higher to the one who brings you to victory, amen. See, God knows the way out. Get your eyes off the problem. If you're in fear, look higher.

You're looking too low, amen. Words are powerful. Things like, I always lose. I'm gonna die. I'm broke. I'm sick. I'm depressed. That's a whole different attitude in spiritual aspect because there's power of life and death in the words and I'm gonna win. The money's coming in. I'm getting promoted. I shall live and not die. Amen. I'm gonna fight this thing. I'm gonna fight, fight, fight. I'm gonna fight until we win. Amen. Even if they do take my house, God can provide a bigger house, better house for me. If they take my car, Lord teach me not to get in that financial situation again. Help me get a better car and he will. He's merciful. Amen. You know, God always pays. He doesn't pay every Friday, but he pays. Judges 6 verses 13 starts and says, Gideon said to him, Oh my Lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened? He's questioning God. Have you ever questioned God? Why God? Why is this happening? Let me give you a hint. Always stay on God's side. Never blame God. There's a difference in Lord, show it to me. How did I get in this situation? Help me to get out. Show me, Father. That's different than why did you let this happen, God? That's blaming God rather than and that's pride rather than humility saying, God, I don't see it. I don't know what I did. Show me. Help me to come up and out. Amen. And it goes on to say, And where are all the miracles which our fathers told us about saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? All the miracles when Moses led the people out of Egypt. Where are they? Are they occurring today? Well, miracles still occur today, but not for people in pride, arrogance. Miracles happen to people who humble themselves and God will heal the land. He will do miracles in your life, but God gets the glory.

You've got to do it His way. Amen. You've got to do it in a way where you will experience His goodness, which means you're going to be a doer of the Word of God. Verse 14 says, Then the Lord turned to him and said, God, in this might of yours and in you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you? So he said to him, O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house. In other words, God, you said all this. I don't see miracles. I don't understand why this is happening, and I'm broke. I'm the weakest of the bunch. I'm the scrawny one. Whatever it may be, trust in God. Amen. God can take a little thing and make it a lot. He can take David, little David, and take down Goliath. Amen. He can use Gideon who's in fear over the army and turn him into a mighty warrior if you turn towards God and you believe His Word. Amen. And the message says, look at me. My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I'm the runt of the litter. God doesn't care if you are the runt of the litter. He doesn't care if you're the weakest, if you're the brokest. He cares about your faith in Him and obedience in what He said. You know, when I started drag racing, I had one of the oldest bikes on the circuit, minimal experience. I knew next to nothing about mechanics, and I was against fierce competitors that had a lot of money backing them, had professional mechanics. And how am I supposed to go forth and fight? But I had tribe of Judah, tribe of praise from the line of the tribe of Judah on my back, a cross that said, Jesus is Lord. I didn't go on my own ability. God sent me, and He blessed me, and within a couple years, I was ranked in the top 15 in the nation. Glory to God and the points. That's miraculous. Not because of my ability,

because God gave me that, because He wanted people's lives touched. He sent me, and I said, I'll go. And the Lord did it. I didn't do it, I can tell you. I did not have the knowledge, did not have the skill, the ability, but God blessed me. Judges 6 23 says, Then the Lord said to him, Peace be with you, do not fear, you shall not die. So Gideon built an altar there to the Lord and called it The Lord is Peace. In other words, Jehovah Shalom. Now remember, this is before the battle ever started. If you've got a court case coming up, you need to start praying now, giving God praise, entering into His rest, into His peace. Cast a carrot on a IN OTHER WORDS, SAY LORD, I'M GONNA DO IT YOUR WAY, I ASK FOR YOUR MERCY, I GOT INTO THIS DUE TO THESE REASONS, FORGIVE ME, HELP ME, I ASK FOR YOU TO SHOW ME THE WAY UP, GIVE IT TO HIM, FOR HE CARES FOR YOU, YOU CAN'T DO IT ON YOUR OWN, BUT THERE IS A WAY THAT HE CAN GET YOU UP AND OUT, AMEN? THIS WAS BEFORE THE BATTLE EVER STARTED, PEACE BEFORE THE BATTLE EVER STARTED, IN OTHER WORDS, IT'S A FOUNDATION OF HOW TO FIGHT THE FIGHT, FIGHT AND PEACE, CASTING THE CARE OF IT OVER ONTO THE LORD, YEAH, I'M GONNA HAVE TO DO SOME STUFF, BUT I WIN, I WIN EVERY TIME, THIS WORD JEHOVAH SHALOM, IT MEANS WHOLENESS, SECURITY, WELL-BEING, PROSPERITY, PEACE, AMEN? MY PEACE I LEAVE WITH YOU IS WHAT JESUS SAID, AND THAT IS SOME SERIOUS PEACE, BEYOND UNDERSTANDING, GOD IS A SOURCE OF TRUE PEACE, EVEN IN THE MIDST OF CHAOS, NOTHING MISSING, NOTHING BROKEN, SHALOM, HIS PEACE WILL COMPLETE YOU, NOT JUST ABSENCE OF STRIFE, NOT JUST ABSENCE OF WAR, THIS IS PEACE EVEN BEFORE HE WENT TO BATTLE, AND THERE WAS PEACE BEFORE THE BATTLE EVER STARTED. THERE WAS GOING TO BE A WAR, THERE WAS GOING TO BE A BATTLE, BUT HE HAD PEACE THAT HE KNEW THAT HE WAS GOING TO COME OUT VICTORIOUSLY, GOD GAVE PEACE BEFORE THE BATTLE EVEN OCCURRED, NOW THAT IS PEACE BEYOND NATURAL MIND'S UNDERSTANDING, IT'S A FOUNDATION TO STAND ON BEFORE THE BATTLE THAT STABILIZES YOU IN THE BATTLE. YOU HAVE TO REPEAT THAT, THIS SHALOM IS A FOUNDATION YOU STAND ON HIS PEACE BEFORE THE BATTLE THAT STABILIZES YOU IN THE BATTLE, AMEN. YOU MAY NEED TO PRAY, YOU MAY NEED TO REPENT, YOU MAY NEED TO TITHE BEFORE YOU GO INTO THIS BATTLE, THIS COURT CASE, BECAUSE YOU NEED GOD ON YOUR SIDE, YOU WANT TO DO THINGS HIS WAY, IF YOU KNOW YOU HAVEN'T BEEN DOING SOME THINGS RIGHT, HINCE, YOU DON'T HAVE PEACE, IT'S EASY, ADMIT IT, QUIT IT, FORGET IT, AMEN, SO IF YOU'VE BEEN LIVING WRONG, DOING SOME THINGS WRONG, YOU'VE GOT TO REPEAT THAT, THIS SHALOM IS A FOUNDATION YOU STAND ON HIS PEACE BEFORE THE BATTLE THAT STABILIZES YOU IN THE BATTLE, AMEN IF YOU'VE BEEN LIVING WRONG, DOING SOME THINGS WRONG, THAT'S OPENED UP A DOOR TO THE ENEMY AND NOW YOU'VE GOT TO GO INTO A BATTLE, A COURT CASE OR SOMETHING, ADMIT IT TO GOD, QUIT IT, AND FORGET IT, REPENT, GET RIGHT, REPENTANCE IS A GIFT, IT'S NOT, OH, YOU'VE GOT TO REPENT, GO TO HELL, NO, YOU GET TO REPENT AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO TO HELL, GLORY TO GOD, MAN, THAT GETS ME EXCITED RIGHT THERE, YOU KNOW I WAS GETTING READY FOR A DRAG RACE, I WAS FOCUSED ON THE RACE, BUT THERE'S TIMES WHERE THOUGHTS WOULD COME IN, MAN, LOOK AT THAT BIKE, I KNOW THAT BIKE, MAN, THEY'VE WON THE LAST 12 RACES THEY'VE BEEN AT, LOOK AT THEIR TEAM, LOOK AT THEIR MECHANICS, THEIR EQUIPMENT, AND YOU START GETTING YOUR EYES ON THE OTHER THINGS, START GETTING YOUR EYES ON THE ENEMY AND HIS ATTACKS, OH, LOOK AT THEIR ABILITY, NO, LOOK AT THE ABILITY OF THE CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH SO I'LL BE UP ON THE STARTING LINE, MY HEAD DOWN, I'M READY TO POP THE CLUTCH AND GO, AND THESE THOUGHTS WOULD COME, THE COMPETITION TRIES TO GET YOU TO FOCUS ON THEM SO THAT YOU OVERHEAT YOUR CLUTCH PLATES, YOU LET YOUR TIRE COOL OFF, BECAUSE YOU'RE RUNNING THEIR RACE, NOT YOUR RACE, AMEN RUN THE RACE THAT GOD HAS SET BEFORE YOU THE WAY HE'S TOLD YOU TO DO IT AND YOU WILL LIVE IN VICTORY, JUDGES 6, 30 FORCES, BUT THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD CAME UPON GIDEON, THEN HE BLEW THE TRUMPET, AMEN, HE BLEW THE TRUMPET, THIS HERE IS LIKE AN EXAMPLE OF I'M WINNING, I GOT THE VICTORY, AMEN GOD ANOINTED HIM TO DO A NATURAL THING TO FIGHT, HE WAS A FARMER, GOD ANOINTED HIM TO LEAD PEOPLE INTO BATTLE AND TO FIGHT, JUST LIKE YOU, GOD WILL ANOINT YOU WHETHER YOU'RE A PLUMBER, WHETHER YOU ARE A ACCOUNTANT, A DOCTOR, WHATEVER IT IS, GOD IF YOU TURN TOWARDS HIM, HE WILL ANOINT YOU TO DO WHAT HE'S CALLED YOU TO DO NOW THE KEY IS TURN TOWARDS HIM AND DO WHAT HE'S CALLED YOU TO DO, JUDGES 7-2 AND THE LORD SAID TO GIDEON, THE PEOPLE ARE WITH YOU BUT THERE'S TOO MANY OF THEM BECAUSE TOO MANY OF THEM ARE IN FEAR, TOO MANY OF THEM, HE WAS LOOKING AT THE NUMBERS AND SO THERE WERE 30,000 AND GOD SAID NOPE, TOO MANY OF THEM, 32,000 THAT'S TOO MANY, GO DOWN TO THE WATER AND THOSE WHO LAP AS A DOG LAPS, YOU SHALL SET APART BY HIMSELF, AMEN IN OTHER WORDS They're sitting there looking around for the enemy and they're lapping from the way a dog does with their head in the ground versus lifting it up Those are people in fear. Amen So there were three hundred that lapped in other words They stuck their hand in the water brought it up while they were looking to see if the enemy was around not just oh Whoa is me with their head down head in the sand. No, these were people looking out for the enemy ready to fight Amen ready for the battle

Amen But those who put their knees on the ground their head in the water. They were dismissed so Focus on your race and get in faith people around you that are going to be in faith with God ready to fight the fight Amen, and so it went from thirty two thousand warriors down to three hundred mighty men And they won. This is the first one percenters real one percenters turn towards God They look at the things of God Amen, they trust God to win the battle to take them to victory They trusted and obeyed God even whenever the cards were stacked against them when they were outnumbered because they focused on what God said on his word and They obeyed they went into battle in Peace knowing that God was going to bring them through bring them up Hallelujah the good God the God of Peace will bring you through when you do things his way in his word with his might Philippians 4 6 has be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication With Thanksgiving let your request be made known to God not everybody around you Be made known to God in the peace of God which surpasses all Understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ And then we go on to Philippians 4 8 there's eight items in here that you need to focus on to stay in peace amen, I Encourage you read Philippians 4 8 get it in your mind Get it in your heart and check yourselves on what these items are and make sure that you do these eight items amen Keep your mind stayed on him and on his word on the things He says and he will bring you through and that reminds me mark 437 When it was Jesus and all his disciples were in a storm and Jesus is in the bottom of the boat taking a nap and they Are in fear and he got up and spoke to the storm peace Against that storm be still use the authority you have in the name of Jesus To speak peace over your situation over your life. Amen, and God will

Enter into that situation and bring peace to it bring victory to it. Amen Stand in faith over it fight the good fight of faith live in peace There's no better place to live than in the peace of God. Well, this is Mike Kennedy with living in victory. Have a blessed day
