The Goodness of God - Part 18 - The Names of God, Part II

We're living in victory! The battle's won in victory! We've overcome whatever comes our way! You're worthy to taste the seed! We're living in victory! Through our Lord Jesus Christ! Hello, this is Mike Kennedy with the Living in Victory broadcast. We're going to continue our series on the goodness of God. This is part 18 of the series, but it's the second message regarding the names of God that reveal His character, His good character, of who He is to those who trust in Him. Amen? This series is based on Psalms 34 8. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the man who trusts in Him. In John 10 10, the thief does not come except to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come that they might have life and have it more abundantly. You know, every name of God is a significant description of who He is. Who He is to those who trust Him and who He is to those who don't. In other words, He is the righteous judge. Amen? They are descriptions of who He is in the relationship with His children. I am one of His children. What about you? If you're not, I encourage you to receive Jesus today.

Don't wait another minute. Amen? These names in the Bible are not just titles, but powerful declarations of who God is and who He will be to you if you trust in Him. It's not just a label. It's not just a brand. They carry weight on who God is. They define His goodness. Join your faith with me. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, we come to You. I ask You for revelation, grace, and anointing to share Your good word, Your names that describe Your goodness to us. Father, I ask You for eyes to be opened up, understanding, help. Father, we touch and agree in this. In the name of Jesus, amen. Well, in the last message, we talked about five different names of God. And one of them was Jehovah-Ra. The Lord is my shepherd. Amen? This was defined in Genesis 16-13 where it talks about God being a shepherd, which means God who sees. God who sees you, where you are, who you are, what you need. It highlights His intimate relationship that He desires with His children, you and me. Amen? Psalms 23 is not just about a funeral. It's not a psalm for funerals.

It is a psalm that shares that God is my shepherd, my good shepherd who keeps me, who protects me, who guides me. Amen? We talked about Yahweh, the self-existent one. And Yahweh or Jehovah, which means I am who I am. That's what He told Moses in the burning bush. And devout Jews won't even say His name today. But it means self-existent one, sovereignty. He doesn't depend on anyone or anything. It's in the Old Testament. 6,519 times it means that I am the God over every situation. It doesn't matter what you've got going on. If you turn to Him, He is over everything. You know, a lot of the Hebrew gods, a lot of the gods in things like Hinduism, which has 300 million so-called gods. Which one do you serve? How do you make sure you don't keep one of them, forget one of them? No, there is one God, the one true God. Not like the God over sun and God over rain and God over, well, is it going to be sunny today or is it going to rain today? I don't know, them two gods are fighting. No, one God, amen? Every name of God in the Bible was given during a time of attack,

during a time of turmoil that described who God was to that person in that time. situation, in that circumstance. Amen. We find out that He's the Healer, the Provider, the Protector, the Deliverer. Amen. He is the One who is there for everything we need, no matter what we are going through. All these names were given during a battle, during a trial, and the end result is whoever it was given to that turned towards God, it revealed that God is a good God and brought them through. He will do that for you, no matter what you're dealing with. Amen. The third one was the Mighty Creator. This one started in Genesis chapter 1 verse 1. Elohim. And we talked about that. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. This is before light. He spoke light in the existence, light be. Elohim is plural. Any Hebrew word that ended in I am was plural. Elohim, in other words, plural God. Well wait, there's one God. No, there's one God, three in one. God, the Holy Spirit, and His Son Jesus. That's what it's talking about. We went into that. It's mentioned 35 times in the 31 verses of Genesis chapter 1 alone. It defined, it was a deliberate statement to describe that God created everything, the sun, the earth, the heavens, man, every living thing, water. Amen. We talked about El Shaddai, the Almighty, Lord God Almighty. Amen. He is my God. We talked about Shaddai comes from the word Shad, S-H-A-D, which means breast, our total source of supply. Amen. It's like baby's nourishment from their mother. Everything they need, God is that to us if we turn to Him. He is our total source of supply. He created heaven. He created the earth, the oxygen, every living being, every vegetable, everything we need to survive. Amen. He created your heart. He created your lungs, and if you've got a problem in those areas, He can recreate it for you in your body. We're going to get into that, but it speaks of His limitless power, His ability to provide for His people. He will meet you where you are and bring you up, but it requires faith. It requires submission to surrender to Him and what He tells us to do and for us to do it in the way He tells us to do it. Amen. It's about His strength, and the last

one we talked about in the previous message was El Elyon, the Most High God Maker of heaven and earth, and it refers to His omnipotence, His holiness, His gracious nature that He is above all else, and about how if you make El Elyon your God, your Lord, that He comes into covenant with you, and the moral of the story is don't mess with a covenant man because God is back in them. Amen. And we find out about how Abraham was in covenant with God, and the high priest Melchizedek came, and he brought communion elements, and Moses, I mean Abraham entered into a covenant with God. Amen. And out of that, it's the first time we find out about tithing. Now this is before the law. This is before Moses was given the Ten Commandments, and the end result is El Elyon made Abraham rich. God's not opposed to you being wealthy. He's opposed to other gods before you. He's opposed to things before you that are not Him, and how you get it. He wants to bless us. He wants to prosper us. He has plans to bring us up. Amen. And then today, let's talk about Jehovah Jireh, the Lord will provide. He is my provider. Amen. It's first mentioned in Genesis chapter 22 verse 14 when God provided a ram for Abraham instead of Isaac. We find out that in Genesis 22 too that God told Abraham to take his only son up to the hills and to turn him into a sacrifice. What? What do you mean turn your child into a sacrifice? Today that would seem far-fetched to us, but God is testing Abraham, and He gave him an open door which we'll talk about as to why God told him to do this. It required faith. It required trust. Remember, God told Abraham that through Isaac, he would be a father of many nations. Well, if Isaac's dead, how is that going to be fulfilled? But Abraham trusted God in the fact that he would fulfill the call. So they went up to the mountain. They're looking around and on the way up there, Isaac's like, Dad, what are we going to sacrifice? And Abraham said, The Lord will provide. Amen? See, Abraham knew and understood who was asking him to do this, who was asking him to make his son a sacrifice. But he believed God to do what it took, even if that meant raising Isaac from the dead. He knew that

God was able and God was worthy. He was a God that kept his word and that he would do it. So no matter what, he was going to obey God and trust God. Amen? And verse 8, he said, God will provide. Now let's talk about that word. It's a declaration of faith that his son would be a sacrifice, but the word pro means before. Invide means vision or seeing. In other words, what it means is God saw the need before it even occurred in our life naturally, and he provided for that need. God has provision for you to bring you up and out of every financial thing you're dealing with, every attack you're dealing with, every situation. But we've got to trust him and do it his way. Amen? Genesis 22 12, it says, and he said, Do not lay your hand on the land. In other words, there's an altar. He went and got his son. They built the altar, and they're looking around. He starts a fire, getting ready to start a fire. Got sticks there, and Isaac's like, Dad, what are we gonna put up here? We ain't got no rams. We don't have a sheep. We don't have a cow. We don't even have a rabbit. What are we going to put on here as a sacrifice to God? Amen? And Abraham just said, God will provide. Then he said, All right, Isaac, get up here. Lay on all these sticks. What, Dad? Yeah, get up here and lay on here. Trust me, it's gonna be okay. Gets up there, ties his son up. His son, this guy has a big wide open. Dad, what are you doing? What are you doing? Can you imagine that situation? But Abraham trusted God. He takes out his blade, getting ready to come down. An angel stops him right there because he had proven that he was willing to obey and trust God. So in Genesis 22 verse 12 it says, and he said, Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, or you reverence Him. Above all else, he reverence God.

Amen? Since you have not withheld your son, your only son from me, glory to God. You know, want to know why I'm so excited about that? Because of this, and Abraham not holding back his only son for God. It gave God a legal right to send Jesus to die on the cross. You say, Abraham, what were you thinking putting your son up there? It gave God the right to send His son to pay the price of your sin and my sin. Oh man, that is huge. Just think of that. What if He didn't do this? God would still have needed somebody to act in faith to give God a legal right to do something for us. Oh my, see He's a God. He's a God of legal law. This is the book of the law. Amen? Verse 13, Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. And Abraham called the name of the place the Lord will provide. As it is said to this day, in the mount of the Lord it shall be provided. God is our provider if we trust Him and do it His way. Jehovah Jireh, my provider. Amen? Oh hallelujah. Verse 15, Then the angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven and said, By myself I have sworn, I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son. Blessing, I will bless you. And multiplying, I will multiply your descendants in the stars of heaven and the sand which is on the seashore. And your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed because you have obeyed my voice." Well first of all, he said he's going to bless him, prosper him. Well Abraham became a very wealthy man, prosperous man, and then descendants. He's the father of

faith. Think of that. I'm a son of Abraham, a child of Abraham, a child of faith in God as my provider. Amen. And then in your seed, all nations out of the seed of Abraham, one of his descendants was Jesus, the Messiah. And because of that, you and I can have eternal life. Jesus came so that you and I wouldn't have to pay the price for our sin. Hallelujah. Because of Abraham's obedience and willing heart to sacrifice Isaac, God had the legal right to offer up Jesus. My, that's big. So the moral of the story is first, don't mess with a covenant man. I'm a covenant man. But secondly, if God asks for your Isaac, something that is precious to you, something that is valuable to you, give it up quickly because he's got big plans for you, plans to bless you. Amen. This is a huge situation. Glory to God. Isaac was the promise, but Abraham had to trust God. He had to obey God to become the father of faith, the father of nations. It proved that he feared God. He reverenced God. He obeyed God. Amen. We want to have a ram whenever we have a need, but many people want the ram. They want something given to them, but they don't want to obey. They don't want to submit. See, provision without action and obedience, that just doesn't occur. We need provision from God due to faith. Oh, he's merciful. He will help us out, but even a little step of faith. Amen. The faith of a mustard seed. A little bit of faith and God can do and will do miracles for you, but he requires faith. He's a faith God. Amen. In 1 Kings chapter 17, we find a little widow woman. Her husband had passed away. She's a widow. A situation where Elijah the prophet came to her in a famine and told her to go get some sticks and make me a piece of bread. And she

said, hey, I don't have any. I just have a little morsel to make a little piece for me and my child, and we're going to go die. And he said, no, make some for me first. Go get me some water. Make me a morsel. Can you imagine what some of the liberal news medias would say? Here's a preacher taking this woman's last last dollar, last little bit. Doesn't care about her. No. What this did, it gave God a legal right to do something for her and her child, and because she put God first, she obeyed the man of God. God provided for her in the whole situation. During the whole famine, her needs were met. She obeyed and God provided. Jehovah Jireh, her provider, my provider. Amen. Philippians 4.19 says, And my God shall supply all your need according to his riches and glory by Christ Jesus. If you don't know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then He doesn't have to be your provider in all trials and tribulations, but if you will, He will bring you up. He will bring you to higher places. You know, Satan will try to come instill your dream, your dream of coming up, your dream of prosperity. He will try to attack your finances, your health, your job, children, but he is a loser. He's been defeated. Amen. See, Satan tried to instill Abraham's dream. He tried to instill the dream of this widow woman. Oh, first her husband dies, now she's about to die, and yet this preacher wants me to go make a piece of bread for him. See, everyone will deal with adversity sometime in their life. The question is, is what are you going to do when attacks come? When adversity comes, are you going to be an overcomer? Are you going to be a whiny baby and stay in the corner? Amen. There are people hurting in their marriage, finances, with their children, their health, their jobs. Are you going to fight the good fight of faith?

Amen. Everyone will get attacked, but everyone has faith in something. Is it God? The God that created heaven and earth? Or is it faith in your your spirit? spouse, your job, your club, is it faith in your gang, your retirement program, 401k? Well, putting faith in those things really bring you up and out in every adversity. Oh, and some they might, but the enemy will come in and tack you 10 ways, amen, but God will provide for you if you turn towards Him. 1 John 5, 4. This is what our broadcast is based on. It says, and this is the victory that has overcome the world, our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? If you don't believe that, you've got some tough roads to haul. In other words, you're going to have some serious problems, then you're going to die and go to hell, but if you trust God, hallelujah, not only do you have ways to come up and out, He'll help you, but you have eternal life in heaven. Now that is victory, that is winning, amen. So Philippians 4.13 says, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, but tied to that a few more verses, He will supply all my needs according to His riches and glory. As you turn towards Him, He will provide Jehovah-Jireh, my provider, He will strengthen you, He will provide for you, He will bring you up and out, amen. You say, well I used to have a dream and I quit because it wasn't happening. Well, no, it was happening. Either two things, you had a dream that wasn't based on God, it was your own desires rather than the plan that God had for you, or you gave up on it. You were tested and you failed the test. So first, go ask God, God what are your plans for me? I know you got plans to prosper me, to bring me up. I've missed it, I've made mistakes, I may be in a very bad situation and don't see a way out.

You know, last week Cher and I were at a 60th anniversary of one of the world's biggest outlaw clubs and we met a guy there who had had three life sentences. Now we've known him for years and we were talking, he had three life sentences with no chance of parole. He got out, he's getting married in a few weeks. We got to pray for him. You may not see a way up or out, but God can and will provide a way if you trust him. Amen? Makes me think of Joseph. Joseph in the Bible in Genesis 37, he had a dream. This is Joseph, the man with many colors, the boy of the coat with many colors. He was a dreamer and Satan came to kill that dream. Amen? His brothers threw him in a pit, they sold him as a slave, he was put in authority, then in prison. He was lied about regarding the Potiphar's wife, the leader's wife, who could have killed him right then and there, but throw him in the deepest, darkest prison. He didn't get bitter. If you've got bitter because of attacks of the enemy, because you don't think you've been provided for, repent. Get an open heart, a willing heart. Ask the Lord to show you where you missed it, how to come up and out. Pick that dream that God gave you back up. Amen? If you don't have a dream from God, seek God and ask him and he will show you his plans, but he won't show you the whole plan. He doesn't give you a daytime or showing you the whole steps. He shows you, I'm going to prosper you. Take this step, then take this step, and he shows you each step. Why show you the 10th step if you're unwilling to take the first step? You say, ah because if I knew the whole plan, I would do it. That's not faith. That's not God. Amen? Pick it back up. You know, think of this, this man was thrown in prison and he prospered in prison. You can prosper wherever you are.

It doesn't matter what country you're in. It doesn't matter what situation you're in. God can prosper you and bring you up and out if you trust in him as Jehovah Jireh, your provider. Amen? He will bring you up above that situation. Rise above the attack. Amen? Trust God. If you're looking at circumstances and all the attacks going on and what the law says and what the doctor's report says and what the attorney says, what the finance guy that's coming to claim your house back or your car, what they said, if you're looking at all that, you're looking too low. Get your eyes up on God. Look higher. Turn towards him. Even if they took your house or your car, God can bring you up and give you a better house, a better car. Amen? Eventually, this young boy became a man and he Became number two in the kingdom and helped save his whole family. Amen. He became rich. Oh, he went through some trials. He went through some turbulence. Amen. But God brought him up and out. Amen. Romans 8 31 says, What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Let me answer that for you. If you're on God's side, no one is going to win but you. You may say, yeah, but look at all these attacks. Yeah, you may be knocked down, but not knocked out. Your name's in the Lamb's book of life. You've got eternal life. Keep fighting. Keep fighting. Amen. Verse 32. He who did not spare his own son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? In other words, he gave you Jesus who died on the cross, went to hell, paid the price for your sins. Verse 37. Yet in all these things, all these attacks, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us, through Jesus. If you don't know Jesus, you're not more than an overcomer. You may think you are. That's pride. But when you get to hell, you're going to find out that you missed it. If you want a true eternal life, true provision, true life, you can receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior right now. Say, Heavenly Father, I believe that you sent your son Jesus to the earth to die on the cross, to go to hell and pay for my sins. He rose from the dead. He's seated with you in heavenly places. Jesus, I ask you to be my Lord, my Savior. Cleanse me of my sins. I receive you in the name of Jesus. Amen. Well, glory to God. If you did that, man, you and I are going to have eternity in heaven. matter what the enemy brings your way. It doesn't matter if it's financial, physical attacks, attacks at work, families attacking you, they are misrepresenting you, lying about you, stabbing you in the back. You don't see how it's going. Any way for you to come up and out, don't give up. Joseph didn't. Man, he went to prison twice. He came out and at the end, man, what a testimony. You do not have a testimony without going through tests. You do not become an overcomer without having something to overcome. Amen. You win and have a testimony because God is working on your behalf if you trust Him. Amen. Glory to God. Be an overcomer. Be a winner. Be a victorious one, right? Because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. Glory to God. Hallelujah. Pick up that dream if you've laid it down. Amen. If you're in a fight, keep fighting. Amen. God will provide the way. Trust Him. Ask Him to show you. He'll provide you the way up, out, provisions for you to live, a place for you to live, a car for you to drive, finances, restoration in your body. Amen. We have more to cover.
