I love Pastor Pablo, Marco, your whole team and I love what God's doing here. Amo al Pastor Pablo, al Pastor Marco y todo lo que están haciendo acá, lo que Dios está haciendo acá. Can we honor them this morning? Le podemos honrar al Pastor Pablo y su equipo. And thank you to David for translating. Muchas gracias David por traducir. He has the best hair. Well, if you have your Bibles with you Grab them, and before we get started, I just want to challenge you with something this morning. Get ready to hear from God. And so as we open the word, we can know God is going to speak. It's just a matter of if we're ready or not. If you have your Bible, Psalm 119.
And as you flip there, I'm going to tell you about some of the greatest days of my life. Here is a picture of my family. This is my wife, Kendall, she's over there. And we got married on May 31st, 2019. And then Tabor, he is the one on the left. We adopted him on September 11th, 2023. And then Miller is on the right, and we had him on November 1st, 2024. And in December, we'll have our third child. But the greatest day of my life was May 25th of 2014. It was the day that Jesus saved my life. And so I realized I was a sinner separated from a holy God. I couldn't save myself. I wanted a relationship with Jesus. And on that day, everything changed. And why do I tell you about this day? Because that day changed everything for me. When Jesus saved me, my priorities changed. My schedule changed. My interests changed. Everything about my life changed. And one of the biggest changes was what I treasured. And this morning, we're going to look at one thing that all of us, those saved by Jesus, must treasure. And that is the Word of God. And so write this down. A life saved by Jesus treasures the Word. And you can't get to treasures the Word without a life saved by Jesus. So if you've placed your faith and trust in Jesus, you must treasure the Word of God. So let's ask the question, how do you treasure the Word? And that's what brings us to Psalm 119.
Verse nine says, so how do you treasure the Word? You know the Word to obey the Word. So do we know enough of the Word of God to obey it? Do you know when, where, how you are walking in obedience to the Word of God? You can't know all of that without a great understanding of the Word of God. See a life saved by Jesus treasures the Word. Why? Because Jesus treasured the Word. Here's how Jesus treasures the Word. And then, can we go to the next slide, read the next slide. It has been estimated. So if Jesus, our example, knew the Word to obey the Word, we should too. So how do you treasure the Word? You know the Word to obey the Word. And let's keep reading in Psalm 119. So number two, numero dos, I know that one. How do you treasure the Word? You don't wander from it. If you're not seeking the Word, you're wandering from it. Hebrews 2.1 says this. If you treasure the Word, you are going to need to fight against the beautiful getting average. Let me say it again. You're going to need to fight against the beautiful, the Word of God, getting average. You need to stir your heart's affection for the Word of God so that you can continually treasure it. Think about any relationship you have. You don't drift, wander into a great relationship. By yourself, you will wander from a great relationship. But for any great relationship, you have to put intentional effort, time, affection,
into it to make that relationship thrive. It's just like that with the Scriptures. You aren't going to naturally follow, know, obey, without intentional effort, time, affection into it. And so how do you treasure the Word? You don't wander from it. And so number three, let's go to Psalm 119. So how do you treasure the Word? Treasure it. So we're building on top of each other. Number one, you know it to obey it. Numero dos, you don't wander from it. And then number three, you place it in a spot in your heart that you know where it is and you can pull it out at any time. Joshua 1.8 says this. And why do we treasure it? So we won't sin against God. So Jesus has given us everything required for life and godliness. So he's given us his Holy Spirit, and he has given us his Word, and so do you treasure the Word? So this last week, we went to student camp, and I lost something that my wife got mad at me for. So I was jumping into the lake, and I had my fitness tracker and my Apple Watch, and no more Apple Watch. So the lake at student camp has my Apple Watch at the bottom of the lake. When it fell, I was a little sad, but I also thought to myself, maybe I get a new one. And the wife said no. But let me tell you about something that I do treasure a lot. Amo mi anillo. So May 31st, 2019 is when Kendall gave this ring to me, and I feel weird without it on.
I play with it all the time. I like to know where it is all the time, and it is a miracle that I have not lost it in the past seven years. Because she can attest that I lose everything. True? Yes. She's taking her hand. And so I freak out if it's not in its right spot, and it's really a big comfort thing for me. And this is how we need to treasure the Word of God. We need to know where it is at all times. We need to feel uncomfortable without it. We need to place the Word of God in spots in our heart that we know exactly where it is when we need it. We must treasure the Word of God. So let your biggest treasure be the Word of God. And so in recap, a life saved by Jesus treasures the Word, and how do we treasure the Word? We know the Word to obey the Word. We don't wander from it. We treasure it. And so if a life saved by Jesus treasures the Word, how is your treasure? Has the Word been a checklist to millions of lives? Has the Word been wandering from your life to where you don't even know where your Bible is? Is the Word treasuring a world of hours that you won't wander from the Word of God? Is the Word really your treasure? And so why come back and take us to heaven with Him? We treasure the Word of God because it's all about Jesus. It's an invitation. And so this invitation is true.
Two-fold, a life saved by Jesus treasures the Word. Has your life been saved by Jesus? Has there been a time where you placed your faith and trust in Jesus to save you? If that hasn't happened in your life, these people up here would love to talk to you about that. And so come down to the front and talk to somebody today about what it means to be saved by Jesus. So when we start singing here in a second, exit to the aisle and come meet Jesus today. And if you do know Jesus, a life saved by Jesus treasures the Word. And if we're honest, and if you're honest, some of you are not treasuring the Word. Today I want to invite you to do something different. We do this sometimes on Wednesday nights in cross students. I want you to bring your Bible to Psalm 119, and I want you to bring it to the altar, and I want you to pray Psalm 119, 9 through 11. Pray it over your life. Pray that you would hide its Word in your heart, that you might not sin against God. Pray that you would obey the Word according to Psalm 119, 9. Pray that you would not wander from the commands according to Psalm 119, 10. Pray that you would hide the Word in your heart, that you might not sin against God. And so this message is really simple. I'm not that very smart. I need simple. And so the simple truth of Psalm 119, 9 through 11 is that follower of Jesus, do you treasure the Word of God? So if you don't, pray that God would make you treasure the Word. And one other thing, going off screen. If your family's here with you today, maybe you grab your Bible with your family, and you as mom and dad, pray the Scriptures over your family. Pray that your son or daughter would treasure the Word of God. And so maybe you just need a family moment of prayer at the altar.
And so a life saved by Jesus treasures the Word. I'm going to pray, and then we'll respond in worship. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your Word. Thank you that it is simple to understand. And God, I pray that we would be people that love and treasure the Word of God. God I pray for the person who does not have their life saved by you, that they would leave here today knowing you as their personal Lord and Savior. God I pray they'd have boldness to come down to the front and talk to someone about what it means to be saved by Jesus. God I pray for those who do know you as their Lord and Savior. I pray they would treasure the Word of God. God I pray for the person who is not treasuring your Word, that your Holy Spirit would convict and challenge their hearts and life to treasure the Word, so that they would know it, they would obey it, they would hide it in their heart so they might not sin against you. And God you would produce fruit in their lives as they obey it. So Lord, we give you this time, we give you all the glory. Thank you for Jesus. It's in the mighty name of Jesus we pray, amen.
