put it up high, I hope you haven't gotten used to it. What do we say? This is the Word of God. And I want you to go to Psalm chapter 1. This is a Psalm that will show you two paths, a Psalm that will show you two different ways of living, if I may say so, two voices, two lives, two destinies. The idea of you defining and finding yourself before different options in life is something that Jesus himself, the Messiah, takes. It is recorded in the book of Matthew when Jesus says that there are only two paths, or two doors. One path leads to eternal life and the other path, effectively, leads to condemnation. Listen to me carefully, Church. You cannot choose your destiny. You can choose the path you choose. In this life, you have the great mystery of life. You can choose the voice you decide to hear. You can choose the kind of life you have, but you don't get to choose the final consequence. You don't get to choose your destiny. Your destiny will be revealed at the end of the day after you have chosen the voice and the kind of life you have chosen. So I want you to go with me to Psalm chapter 1. For the Lord takes care of the path of the righteous, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction. That's the end of the text. If I could tell you, and if you are taking notes,

I ask you to do so. If you brought something to write, if I could explain in a few words what this text says, this is how I would tell you, you will see it on your screen. The voice you hear the most will determine the life you will have. And the life you have will reveal the destiny you will end up in. Voice, life, destiny. You have two paths, like Alicia in the mysterious country of wonders. Two lives, two voices, sorry, two lives, two destinies. Let's go into a little bit of how the text deals with the two paths that open up in your life. First of all, two voices. The text goes like this. What joy for those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, nor do they walk with sinners, nor do they join together with scoundrels. And it starts by telling you that this happy man, this complete man, this full man, this complete woman, puts a line, I want you to tell me a line. You probably missed hearing that accent. He puts a line, he puts his foot firmly, when he looks at his friends, his co-workers, his family, his mom, his grandma and his TikTok, and he says, I love you, but this is where your influence on me came from. That's what he's saying. I'm not going to allow you to influence my thinking. Now, if you only knew, if you only knew everything you knew about Jesus outside of this psalm, maybe you'd be thinking that following Jesus means kicking all the uncircumcised sinners and never talking to them again, right? It seems like he's telling you, how happy is the person who doesn't even cross the same street with the dirty sinners. And there are sects, or kind of cultish people, who invite you to that kind of life, right? Who tell you, no, no, don't talk to them again, cut off all contact, don't go to any of their pagan parties, including birthdays, don't watch football, which is cursed and devilish. I kind of agree with that phrase now. It would seem as if he were saying that you have to disappear from the people who are bad, who are sinful and who are mocking.

However, that's not exactly what the text is telling you. The decision to follow the Messiah is not a decision to avoid the people who don't know Christ. If you avoided, if this text meant that you can't even talk, you can't have a coffee, you can't go out to eat, you can't go to a blessed birthday party of a quinceañera of people who don't know Christ, if that's what the text meant, then I ask you a question. Who is going to talk to them about Jesus if you're hiding in the church? I don't think that's what the text means. Now, I want you to say with me, now. One thing is to have a good time with people who don't know the Messiah. Another thing is to let them discipline you. One thing is to enjoy life as a normal being. I have Christ in my life, but I'm still a human being. I can enjoy it. However, another thing is to let His wisdom become my opinion. See? Here, the text is talking about the advice of the bad guys. Do you know what that means? That the bad guys have advice. There is a wisdom that the whole Bible speaks to you about, specifically the two paths that the psalm draws. There is a wisdom that comes from the world and that doesn't come from the word of the Lord.

There is a certain guide that people who don't appreciate Yahweh, God of Israel, have. And that guide, that opinion, will be offered to you so that you can consume it and transform it into yours. This is how this works. First, you listen to the advice of people who don't know Christ. Say that you are here, and even if you come to the cross church, you are just as imperfect as your pastor and you have marital problems. I don't have marital problems, but I'm sure you do. And say that you have communication problems or that everyone has their own way of seeing money or that they like different TV channels, whatever. And you, even if you come to the church, I don't know, you go to the group of life, you decide to go with the friends who have always been there for you, who are really good, really cool, and you say to them, what would you tell me? Now, maybe you are not realizing nor are you being able to discern that none of those friends have a marriage that you would like to repeat. However, for some reason that you don't even understand, you go to those women who don't follow their pastor and you are asking them to give you their advice. Or the guys at work. Guys, what do you think I do with my wife?

It's unbearable. And the guys, who are both in their fifth marriage, give you their advice and their wisdom. It could also be that you were there yesterday at one in the morning scrolling through your Instagram feed. There is also a lot of bad advice there. You let it get into your head and once it became your opinion, do you know what human beings do when something becomes your opinion? You start acting. You never act according to the opinion of others. First, the opinion has to become yours. Well, that advice got into you, now you start walking. Like them. Because now you start to act as they told you in the spiritual guidance they gave you. And once you start to act like them, you immediately assume their identity. You get together with them and say, we are like this, we are like this. And without realizing it, as if by magic, a person who comes here, who is considered a follower of Christ, a follower of the Messiah, is listening to the advice of the bad guys, walking like sinners, and identifying with the jokers. How did that happen? Because you didn't know how to filter the influence of people who don't have the same values as you. You didn't know. And I'm not talking about mechanics advice or medicine advice. We are talking about advice from people who affect your life, who affect your way of thinking about the things that really matter in this life. Those voices that are offered to you, that path that is set for you, whether you are following it or rejecting it, you are not in the middle. And all those, according to the text, who want to be a happy man, a well-adventured man,

a cheerful man, a happy woman, a well-adventured man, is a man or a woman who decides to move away from the influence of those voices. Following Jesus always means, will mean, some kind of separation. And I'm going to tell you with all my heart, you cannot follow Jesus and at the same time continue keeping in your pocket the voice and the opinion of those who do not love God. Eventually, you are going to have to choose one of the two paths. In fact, I'm going to tell you something, you already chose them. You already chose them. This morning, whether God is going to confirm that you are on the right path or God is going to hit you in the heart saying, change your path because you are tuning in to the wrong radio. Are you with me this morning, yes or no? That person, cheerful, happy, instead of being carried away by the advice, opinion, way of life, values of people who do not love God, the text says, they rejoice in what? In the law of the Lord. They rejoice in the law of the Lord. I'm going to tell you something about the purpose of this text. We generally think that the Bible works as if it were a magic spell. It's like you come and say, well, I went to church and they opened the Bible to me. Why didn't my life change? Why didn't my life change if they are giving me a house of peace? Why didn't my life change? Can I tell you this morning, yes or no? Do you know why your life doesn't change? Because you read this wrong. You thought that here it said, but they listen to the law of the Lord. So you say, of course, to really change, to lead a life as Jesus wants it, I have to listen.

And who told you that, bro? The Bible never promises you anything, the one who only listens to the voice of God. The Bible promises joy and happiness to the one who rejoices in the law of the Lord. You will rejoice in the law of the Lord. than listening, they delight, they want, they understand. Daughter, I have a question. Do you think you're going to be happy if I buy you all that? She says yes. Of course I'm going to be happy. And I said, and when does that need end? Because suppose, daughter, I buy you all that is on the promenade. Do you really think that you're finally going to feel full? There's really not going to be any more shop windows that you're going to say, Oh, I also wanted that. And do you know what she says to me? She says, Yes, because having things makes me happy. It's telling you that the life of the one who chooses the voice of the word of God, not his own words, not the words of people who don't value God or care about his word, the people who have chosen the voice of the Lord through his word, are like trees. And it tells you four things about trees. Four things. The first thing it says, they are planted. But all of us who have Jesus as our Messiah, we can say, I wasn't the one who planted it. He was the one who took me from an arid land and planted me next to rivers of living water. Can anyone say amen to that or not? First of all, the person who hears the voice of the Lord,

there is humility, because you know that you are not the one who... I found the Lord, and where did the Lord go, bro? The pastor who goes out looking for the lost sheep is him, and the lost sheep in the story is me. The first thing that everyone who follows the voice of the Lord recognizes, as it is recorded in the law of Yahweh, in the word of God, is to say, bro, I am here and not because of my work. is that you don't have to produce it or manufacture it. If you take care of the roots, nature alone takes care of the fruits. If you take care, as a follower of the Master, of following the good will of your Lord, don't worry if they recognize you in the church, if your colleagues see your changes. I want my family to see my changes. Don't worry, little tree. Don't worry, champion. The fruits bear fruit on their own. Take care of the roots, because the fruits take care of themselves. Those who follow the Lord, are they not desperate to produce visible results? Are they not crazy and stressed? Because it can't be, I've been trying to do this, but the Lord doesn't give it to me. Don't worry, dad, don't worry. Take care of being well planted. Breathe deeply. Obey your Messiah in the silence, where no one can applaud you. because they are well planted by their Lord. Your leaves never wither. Bad times may be bad times, but they don't take me out of my career. That's what the Holy Spirit achieves in your life. Do you believe it or not? Your leaves don't wither, and fourth, they prosper in everything they do. That obviously can't mean that everything they do all the time feels good. But when you look at that tree at the end of its 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 years, you say, hey, this tree fulfilled the purpose for which it was planted. It gave the fruit it had to give. Glory to God. I'm going to tell you something. My uncle, I saw this, my uncle, you'll see it on your screen, my uncle Bruno Rady. He died many years ago, about 20, 21 years ago. And you know, my uncle was not perfect at all. He was crazy about Jesus. When I was a teenager, he would take me to do evangelism in the squares. But if you can bury me saying, this guy loved Christ, loved his wife, loved his children, and was simply a blessing for the fruit we saw, bro, I feel like you can tell me, he prospered in everything he did. This is prospering in everything you do. It's having ended well. And this brings us to our last, our last distance, distinction. We said two voices. You choose which voice to listen to. They take you to two life lessons. Sorry, I'll finish before moving on to the last one. The text says, by contrast, it's not the same with the bad guys, because unlike the tree, which are the righteous, the bad guys are... What does it say there? Like a useless straw. That is the sad life of everyone who listens to the voice of the world and not the voice of Ava. That is the strongest contrast of the whole psalm. Tree versus the tamo or the useless straw that spreads the wind. And now, finally, this leads to the two destinations that are in the last two verses, that's what the text says. They will be condemned when the judgment comes. The sinners will have no place among the righteous. For the Lord takes care of the path of the righteous, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction. Two destinations. Remember what I told you, you choose the voice that you listen to in this life. Are you still with me, yes or no? You choose the voice that is the law of the Lord or the guidance or wisdom of those who do not appreciate the Lord. You choose, it's fine. Then you choose the kind of life that will attract you. Following those advices will lead you to act in a certain way. Acting in that way will lead you to identify with certain people and with their ideologies. That's great!

You choose life. What you can't choose is destiny. It's like we say, you can choose sin, but you can't choose your consequences. That's how it works. And here it speaks to you of two very clear destinies. First, it speaks to you of the destiny of those who heard the incorrect voice. I want you to see it with me. I'm getting to the end. Notice what the text says, that it will be the destiny of those who did not know the Lord. First, what does it say? They will be condemned. Second, they will not have a place among the righteous. Here he is telling you something, look at me, when the judgment comes, he is telling you that those who chose that voice, the voice of the world, the voice that does not come from the word of God, and those who chose life, which is like the tarp, which has no weight and does not achieve anything, are going to be condemned, you are not going to have a place among the righteous, and you are on your way to destruction. And you say, oh, but that is from the Old Testament, because the new God is kinder. And you don't hear Jesus saying, there are two doors, there are two ways, and one leads to life and the other leads to destruction, the message never changes. I don't know if you know God or not, what I can tell you is that today you are one day closer to the outcome of your story. I don't know how many chapters your book will have, but what I know is that you are one page closer to the conclusion. And that day, when you are before the presence of God, there will not be a deliberation between you and Him. Oh, let's see, let's balance out. If you heard the wrong voice and harvested the wrong life, you end up out of the city. You don't get to choose your destiny.

It is revealed, the judgment will reveal the destiny. And by the way, even if you say, but that is unfair. Really? Think with me for a moment. Is it unfair if that is what you chose all your life? If you chose all your life not to follow the voice of the Lord, you didn't care about His Word, you didn't care about His opinion at all. If you decided all your life to live it with your own ideas, why do you suddenly expect that everything magically changes towards the end? The end and the destiny will correspond to the life you chose. If you chose a life without the presence of God, you will have an eternity without the presence of God. That is exactly what you wanted. This is not a game. On that day, the experiences will not serve you. The fame you have, the words you have, the attendance to this church that you can demonstrate, will not serve you if you did not do anything with Christ and did not do anything in your life. It's not going to last. And finally, on the other hand, and this is the most beautiful consolation, Nick, you can move on. That is the end and the destiny of those who chose that voice. But look at what it says about the righteous. The Lord takes care of whose path. Do you know what it says in Hebrew? The Lord knows. That's all it says. The Lord knows the path of those who know Him. Because you say, then, what gives me joy? Am I having a bad time? Am I in a moment of suffering? Have I made bad decisions? And the psalm ends by saying, if you decide to walk with the Lord, if you have known Him, if He is in your life, you can rest. The Lord knows. The Lord has not forgotten you. And maybe this morning, I ask myself, if there is any follower of the Messiah who this morning has been convinced of the greatest lie there is, which is that the Lord has forgotten you. Or that the Lord has abandoned you because you made some very bad decisions on the way. The text tells you something. The Lord knows. The Lord takes care. The Lord is there. Maybe you have neglected the roots, son of God. But if you are the son of the Lord, if you have Christ in your life, the Lord will not allow your path to end in destruction. If this morning you are trembling with fear, saying, I know that I know the Lord, but He has abandoned me, and I am afraid of ending up in destruction. I am going to give you a word. Are you ready?

The Lord knows. The Lord knows and takes care of the path of the righteous. And if the Lord began a work in you, I assure you something, He does not leave any work in the middle. If the Lord began His work in you and now you are feeling that your heart weighs for the cowardly bad decisions that you have made in your life, go back to Him, because the Lord knows and takes care of the path of the righteous. And He makes sure that everyone He saves ends up with Him. The Lord does not forsake anyone who has taken Him as a son. Can someone say Amen? I want you to stand up. Everyone here standing up. Those who are up there, I also ask you to stand up. Eyes closed. No one looking. The iconic cat, the fantastic cat of Alice in Wonderland. When he was asked which path he should take, he said, that depends to a great extent on where you want to go. Where do you want to go? Where are you heading? And I have two calls while the leaders are passing by. No one looking. Eyes closed. The first call is this one. Maybe you are someone who has already known Christ, but you have given your ears to the wrong voice. You have not gone to the Word of the Father. You have not sought the opinion of the Father in His Law. But you have filled yourself with the voices of people who do not fear the Lord, or you have assumed that your own voice was the Lord's.

Because it was the easier option. And now your life is wavering. You don't look like that tree that waits in silence to bear fruit. You look more like that straw, like that useless straw. You see that those decisions you are making have little weight. And I want you, in the name of Jesus, to remember, Son of God, the Lord did not go anywhere. But come back. The Lord did not go anywhere. If He saved you, He did not abandon you. But you have to return. Because the decisions you are making do not correspond to the destination you are going to. Because the destination you are going to does not look or feel like the advice you have been taking, or the kind of life you have chosen for yourself, for your wife, for your family, for your romantic relationships, for your job. And I believe that this morning there are many children of God, daughters of God, who right now are feeling the following in their hearts. Listen to me carefully. I am listening to the wrong voice. Cowardly. And today the Lord is calling you to return. How happy is that woman who rejoices in the Word of the Lord, who chews, who is rummaging in His Word, and lets her thoughts, her opinions, her body, her mind, everything, be doubled to the will of her Lord. How happy is that man who lets the Word of God have the last word in the family decisions he has. How happy is that young adult who is here, who chooses the Word of the Lord over the voices of his friends. And the Lord wants to say,

your destination does not look or feel like the decisions you are making. Come back. So in a moment when He makes the call, if that is you, son of God or daughter of God, you are going to come to the front so that we can minister to you. And you are going to come specifically, not only crying, not only in silence, you are going to come in your heart saying, this is what I did not know how to filter. And I give it to you, Dad. I did not know how to filter this voice. Forgive me. Be honest, be direct, and be specific in your confession, son of God. And finally, even with your eyes closed, no one is looking. Maybe you are here and you say, Pastor, I don't have this, bro. I don't have this. And I'm going to give you some good news. I don't have it either. I have been the man who heard the voice of the sinners. I have been the one whose life has been like a useless straw. I have been the one who was destined to lose the final judgment and stay forever out of the new city. I was that, and you too. 2,000 years ago a man, Jesus of Nazareth, and he did hear the voice of Abba. He did know how to set the straight line, unlike you and unlike me. His life was like that tree that bore fruit, and even though they killed him on a cross, he resurrected on the third day to ensure the salvation of all those who trust him. I want to tell you something, friend, friend, if you don't have this, come, if you don't have it, the only one who has truly fulfilled this psalm has in the name of Jesus, and he is offering his spirit to transform you into a man who knows how to hear the

voice of God, whose life is like a tree, and who ends up in the destiny that longs so much, the presence of his Lord. If you have never, never understood this message, if you have been trying so hard to be this, but you haven't got it, and you understand that it is only Jesus who can give you this, because he did it. You come, you come to the front when we start singing, and say, today I am receiving Christ, the only man who could fulfill this, so that he gives me his spirit, and I live the life that God has for me, and I have a relationship with the Father. If that is you, when we start singing, you come to the front, and you don't stop ministering. Lord, in the name of Jesus, I ask you to do what only your spirit knows how to do this morning, to attract those who come calling, and do it with the authority of Jesus, in the name of Jesus, and we all say, Amen.
