Good morning, come on! The word of God says, I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for the salvation of all who believe. Amen? Sing with me. I believe there is only one way, there is only one salvation. Only He can redeem us. I believe only in the name of Jesus. Thank you God for your salvation, for us. I believe it was. I believe it was risen, by His blood today I am free. I believe it was risen, hallelujah to death, He won. Raise your voice, praise God! Praise God the Father, Christ, Son of God. Holy Spirit, glory to the one who won. To the one who was and is, who has to come, I believe in your name. Clap with me! Praise God! I believe I belong. I believe I belong to heaven, a home that is for me. Beyond what I imagined,
something that no one has ever seen. I believe the day is coming, when you will return to my life. In the altar, continue to be lit, to the Lamb and to the Lion, everything will be. Praise God! Praise God the Father, Christ, Son of God. Holy Spirit, glory to the one who won. To the one who was and is, who has to come, I believe in your name. I believe in you. I believe in you, Lord. Oh, oh, oh.
Eh, eh, eh. Good morning, dear church. Today I come angry. And now why? Did you see that kind of annoyance that it gives you? If you lived in the city and ever traveled by train or public transport, especially in our third world, Latin America, there was a particular class of annoyance that it gave you when you saw a thief taking things out of weaker people, right? Maybe
you did not live that experience, but in some school, in some street you saw, in some school you went where there was some bully, some bully who took advantage of the vulnerability of his victim. That same annoyance, that same anger, is the one that comes out of my pores this morning and that you too, if God allows me to explain it to you well, will end up coming out. It is an anger against the thief par excellence, the thief, the arch enemy of the work of the kingdom of God, the most shameless thief that there is in all of the Old and New Testaments, Satan, the thief of the flock of the great king. And the particular reason why I am angry, the operation, the super-Andy mode of this thief, is that surely he has already stolen something from you or is about to steal something from you and you have not yet found out. Because you still assume that this thief dresses in a way that is easy to recognize. I am going to tell you, I am going to tell you like this. If I were to ask you, how is Satan dressed as a thief? How would you be able to recognize that Satan is trying to steal something from you? I am sure that the organic and communal feeling of how Satan is a super-demon with a reptilian face, snake tongue, goat horns, red with some trident of that of Poseidon, and with heavy metal music in the background, with blasphemies, and also in a room full of marijuana and drug addiction. So you say, that is how Satan wants to steal from the youth. Maybe you are right and possibly if you are in the place that I just described to you, possibly you are in a place where Satan wants to steal something from you. But what if I told you that your Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth, when he speaks to you about Satan as a thief, he does not paint it in that dark way as you imagine it, but if Jesus had to explain to you or describe to you how this thief dresses, he would describe him like this, a well-dressed man, as we would say in Argentina, with a suit and tie, a knower of the Bible, and with a great capacity for persuasion and persuasion. What if the way that Satan steals more, according to the New Testament, is not with heavy metal and blasphemies, but with false teaching? I want you to take your Bible. Did you bring your Bible with you or not? Put it up, raise it up just like I have it. What do we say? This is the Word of God. I want you to go to John chapter 10. John chapter 10, and while you are going there, I also welcome all the people who are watching us from their homes. Give them a big round of applause from their homes, from the prison. Come on, welcome them. If you are at home because you stayed to watch a World Cup game, we are not applauding you,
but the rest of you, we are applauding you. While you are going to John chapter 10, I have to tell you two parts of this story, because otherwise it is very difficult to understand what John wants to teach. Five hundred years before this was written, before John wrote these words of Jesus, a prophet, one of the most important prophets of the Old Testament called Ezekiel, in his chapter 34, he had detected a fulminating problem in the people of Israel. And we don't have time to read the problem, but I will explain it to you. Ezekiel chapter 34 is that God had put leaders in Israel, pastors. And these pastors, instead of serving the people and teaching them the Word, were taking advantage of the people. They were teaching them things that were not true, and they were, let's say, milking the cattle for their own benefit, if you know what I mean. of God, the anger of Yahweh, God of Israel, that in Ezekiel 34, God says, you know what? None of you have done the work well. One day I myself will go to shepherd my flock, and one day I will save my flock, and God says, Yahweh, God of Israel, one day I will take care of and guide my own flock, because you did not do it well. Now, fast forward to the movie, 500 years later, you are in the first century, Jesus, etc., etc. And in the previous chapter of what we are going to read now, a blind man had been blind for 40 years, had been healed by Jesus. This man was broken on the outside and on the inside. Being blind at that time meant not having a job, of course, because he was blind. So this man had lived his whole life begging, asking for money. Jesus comes, heals him, and the group of pastors or leaders of the church got angry. And why did they get angry? Because Jesus healed the man on the Sabbath, on the day when these religious leaders said, you cannot even touch the elevator button, you cannot do anything. So this man had been blind all his life, poor all his life, hopeless all his life. A certain Jesus of Nazareth comes, heals him, and the religious leaders, instead of applauding him, say, it is not according to the doctrinal system that we teach. That Jesus surely has some kind of demon. They say, surely Jesus is demonized because if Jesus were a true teacher, he would not have healed you on the wrong day. So the problem of the Pharisees, which was the most popular biblical school in the first century in Israel, was such that their anger ended up throwing the blind man out of the church. What was the fault of the blind man? Well, he was no longer blind, he was the former blind man. What was his fault? Jesus healed
him on the Sabbath, on the day that he could not be healed. So Jesus, knowing all of this, will say, wait, wait, wait. Five hundred years ago, Ezekiel spoke and prophesied against false pastors and false leaders. And I believe that these false leaders are the leaders of the church and the synagogue, the Pharisees. And Jesus will draw a line and say, I am not like them. I, unlike them, am the good, you tell me, the good, the good pastor. Notice what John chapter 10 says, now that you have a little bit of the previous scenes. I tell you the truth, verse 1. I am going to read 13 verses and then we are going to go over them together. Verse 1 says this of the word of God, I tell you the truth, the one who climbs the wall of a hideout, instead of entering through the door, with all security, is a thief and a bandit. But the one who enters through the door is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the door for him and the sheep recognize the voice of the shepherd and approach him. He calls each of his sheep by their name and takes them out of the hideout. Once his own flock is gathered, he walks in front of the sheep and they follow him because they know his voice. They will never follow a stranger, on the contrary, they will run away from him because they do not know his voice. They were led to Jesus to use this example. They did not understand, which is what happens almost always in John, they did not understand anything of what Jesus said. So he gave them this explanation. I tell you the truth, I am the gatekeeper of the sheep. All who came before me were thieves and bandits, but the real sheep did not listen to them. I am the gatekeeper and those who enter through me will be saved. They will enter and leave freely and find good pastures. The purpose of the thief is to steal, kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a full and abundant life. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives his life in sacrifice for the sheep. The one who works for a salary runs away when he sees a wolf approaching. He abandons the sheep because they are not his and he is not his shepherd. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters them. The hired caretaker runs away because he works only for money and he does not care about the sheep. a little more succinct, more summarized. This is the main idea of everything we have just read. Jesus is the pastor promised by the prophet Ezekiel. And he is Yahweh made man,
who came to save and guide whom? Remember that in Ezekiel, what I told you is that God himself said, since you did not do the work well, one day what? I'm going to go save him. And Jesus is saying, here I am. I am Yahweh made man. I have come to do what the false teachers never managed to do. Good. And in this text specifically, Jesus is going to contrast with the false teachers, with the Pharisees who were, as we said before, ordering the flock and not serving it. And there are three contrasts in this text that I'm going to tell you, I'm telling you now. If you're taking notes, write it down. And if you're not taking notes, don't write it down. Just so you can follow me. The first contrast that I see here is, in the first place, the false teaching demands obedience, say it with me, without, that's what the false teachers do. But Jesus forms obedience for the relationship. Now I'm going to explain to you what that means. Second contrast, the false teaching seeks, say it with me, seeks,
but what did Jesus come for? To give you. And third contrast, the false teachers abandon the sheep. What did Jesus give His life for? The sheep, okay? I want you to see with me the first contrast between Him and the false teachers, false shepherds, behind whom, obviously, is Satan. The false teaching demands obedience without relationship. Jesus forms obedience for the relationship. Verse 1 of chapter 10 begins by introducing the two most important characters. Listen to me carefully. If you lived, someone here grew up in the field, raise your hand. Raise your hand if you grew up in the field. Very good. If you grew up in the field, you know that the sheep are not fun for the man in the field. The sheep is the way you put the hot plate of food on your table. If you are someone who is in charge of a flock of sheep, the two most important characters for you are, one, the shepherd, to whom the sheep listen, and two, the thief,
who possibly comes to steal those sheep from you. And Jesus begins by describing the thief, and he tells you in verse 1 how to know when he is a thief. One, he does not enter through the door. He is not frontal. He climbs around the fence. He never enters through the main door. Listen to me carefully. Do you know why the thief does not enter through the main door? So that you are not able to distinguish him. If the thief always appears clear to you, you could say, oh, there is the thief, and the sheep would escape. But the thief, through false teaching and false teachers, you never realize that they are stealing from you until suddenly you look back and say, oops, I had ten and now I have six. The thief always knows how to disguise himself as someone who teaches well, someone very studious, someone who cares a lot about the Jewish feast, and he wins you and sweetens your ear to enslave you. That is what the false teachers were doing. The second, the text says that he tries to call you, but he does not have the ability to do it. Verse 5 says that the unknown enters, but his sheep flee because they do not know his voice. Imagine it with me.
It is night, the thief enters. Where does the thief enter? Through the door? Where does he enter? Around, not through the door. He is never frontal. He enters and starts calling the sheep. I don't know what the sheep are called. Shh, shh, shh. Hey, you! The thief is not able to call the sheep by name. Do you know why? Because the thief has nothing to do with the sheep. Listen to me, there is something very powerful here. I want you to follow me. The thief has nothing to do with the sheep. That is why it is, shh, shh. I don't care about you, the fat one. See, see, I don't care. Because there is no connection of love between him and the sheep. He doesn't care about three lemons, whether that one comes or that one comes. He simply wants to take one because there is no connection bridge. And that is why Jesus says, these false teachers, or false teaching, seek that you obey without there being a relationship. Without there being a relationship. I think you know exactly what I mean. There are so many people,
and so many of you who have grown up in houses, where they would say, no little brother, if you want to follow Jesus, go right now and empty all those cans, cans of beer that you have in your house. No, no, no, if you want to follow Jesus, first you have to overcome all your sexual perversions. That you have brought all your life, homosexuals or heterosexuals, defeat them. If not, you can't come to Jesus. You have to obey. No, no, no little brother, if you want to follow Jesus, right now change the music. That music of the world is going to ruin you. Obedience, obedience, obedience. But they are not telling you, is there anyone with me this morning or not? They are not telling you that the good pastor begins with relationship before asking you for obedience. It is the false and the thief who begins asking, come, come, and there is no relationship. It is the false teaching that wants to put that weight on your shoulders, that tells you, if you do not change, Jesus will not receive you. That is the thief, it is a lie, and it is a lie that steals. It is a lie that deceives. The word of God never presents Jesus asking you for obedience before generating relationship. Notice the difference between the thief who comes and is already talking to the sheep. The sheep escape from him because they do not know him. Notice the difference with Jesus. First of all, he himself enters through the door. Jesus will never come to you with small words in a contract. Jesus will never offer you, like, well, I want to be your Savior and your Lord, and then we will talk about the rest. No, no, no. He will enter you in the face. He will tell you the truth. But not only that, but he says, this is something beautiful, he says that he calls each of his sheep for his what?
That is something that broke me this week. I do not know if you are listening to what that means. The good shepherd knows how to recognize each of his sheep. By calling them by name. By the way, 20 years ago it was said that the sheep were stupid and that they did not know anything. Go and look at the scientific studies that exist. They are extremely intelligent animals. They have the ability to recognize faces, voices, different levels of voice. And the sheep hear the name that their shepherd pronounces. And they feel known. For the shepherd, they are not one more number. For the shepherd, each of his sheep, he has his story. The sheep are not mixed, the stories are not mixed. For the shepherd, the fears of each sheep, the story of each sheep, the temptations of each sheep, they are all known all the time by the good shepherd. There is a relationship of love and intimacy so strong between the shepherd and his sheep that he calls them for what? He calls them by name. God never invites you to be part of a crowd. God always works one by one. He calls his sheep by name. And you are sitting there listening from your house and you say, I feel like the greatest stranger in the people of God. I want to tell you something. Maybe that is a lie because the thief works like that. The thief works in a context of stranger and who cares who comes. But Jesus of Nazareth is not like that. Now, does it mean that Jesus does not ask for obedience? No, because notice what the text says later. That once he calls them by name and the sheep know him,
he walks before the sheep, verse 4, and they follow him because they know his voice. The shepherd, the good shepherd does give orders. Look at me. Because maybe there is an idea that, well, the false teachers or false teachings ask for obedience without relationship. Jesus surely never asks me for obedience. No, no, no, no, no, no. Jesus, of course, demands obedience. But unlike them, when he demands obedience, look at me, when Jesus demands obedience, it is because he first called you by name. Can someone tell me yes or no? When he says, follow me, it is because he calls you by name, he knows you, he loved you as he found you, you wretched sheep. And after embracing you and saying, you are mine. Now he says, because you are mine. Now what? Follow me. Of course the Messiah will demand everything from you. Of course the Messiah will demand obedience. But not before you receive the love of the fairy. You first receive the love of Christ, you receive the love of God, and then you say, ok, Lord, I received you, you forgave me, now what do you want me to do? And now that I have received your love, I am not trying to choose how far I will follow you or not. The sheep is not in the business of deciding, well, the shepherd wants to change something,
but I think I will stay here. No, no, no, you are the sheep of the good shepherd. Your ability to decide where you will go, You signed it, it doesn't exist anymore. He is the good shepherd, you are the sheep. He decides what he wants to change in you, where you have to go, what he wants to transform in your life. Amen or no? Amen. So the first thing is, Jesus says, don't confuse me, I don't know what family you grew up in, daddy, Christian, Catholic, Pentecostal, Baptist, I don't care. But I can tell you something, don't confuse me with religion, says Jesus. Watch out, don't confuse me with religion. Religion always wants to come with a stick to demand and produce obedience before you have received the love of God. I form obedience, but first I connect intimately with you. First I save you, and then you follow me. Are you with me, yes or no? That's not the only thing in which Jesus differs from false teachers. The second, the second contrast, sorry, is, you will see it on your screen, false teaching seeks to take you away,
but Jesus came to give you. The text says, from verse seven, Jesus identifies himself as the shepherd, but now he says he is the door. You know, I spent hours and hours saying, wait a minute, sir, are you the shepherd, or are you the door? And I spent hours and hours burning my brain, and I hope this solution pleases you. And if not, go chat with GPT and ask them if you like it or not. This was only Paul with the Holy Spirit. But of course, imagine it, if you are at the altar, and the door opens, and the shepherd comes, at that moment when the shepherd is at the door, the shepherd becomes the door of the sheep. It's like a human door, of course. When the shepherd is like this, watching his sheep, the sheep have to say, if the shepherd stays still, the sheep don't go anywhere. If the shepherd opens, the sheep walk. Therefore, Jesus is the shepherd, and at the same time, what? The door of all the sheep. And Jesus says, I am that door, and look at what he promises. He says in verse 9,
those who enter through me will be saved. Say it with me, what? Saved. The church promised you that if you did certain things, you might dream of being what? Saved. They taught you that if you did A, B, C, D, E, F, G, up to Z, you might dream of being what? Saved. What does the good shepherd say to you? If you pass through me, what are you going to do? The salvation that the good shepherd offers you is not something that a human shepherd can give you. Don't confuse the good shepherd with this half-twisted shepherd who is here. There is no priest, pastor, there is no religion, not even this church, even though I like it a lot, that can give you salvation. It is only through the good shepherd, capital B, capital P, Jesus of Nazareth. And that's why he promises something that you could never achieve with all your religious upbringing. He says, I can assure you salvation. What does salvation mean? He says, you will enter and leave freely
and you will find good shepherds. And verse 10 says, you will have a full and abundant life. Think with me for a moment what a sheep is. That it feels peace. I don't know when was the last time you felt peace. That it feels peace because its good shepherd is there. It is calm. It knows it is loved, it knows it is loved, it knows it is saved, and it knows it doesn't have to fight for its place in the flock. It knows that if its good shepherd called it, I am the good shepherd. I don't have to prove to him if I am a sufficient sheep or not. It is a kind of peace and tranquility that gives you that no one else can give you, dear. And maybe this morning you are saying, no, I don't come to Jesus because if I come to Jesus, Jesus is going to take things away from me. I am sure that someone here is right now saying that. Shepherd, I want to come to Jesus, convince me, but if I come to Jesus, he is going to take away from me.
And I ask you, what is he going to take away from you? Because as far as I understand, I have been following Jesus of Nazareth for 20 years, and all he has done is give me, not take away from me. If you say that Jesus, that in religion, shepherd, to follow him means to have less freedom. Anyone who has received Christ is going to tell you, less freedom? When I received the Holy Spirit, I began to know what it means to be free. Maybe someone here says, if I follow Jesus, I am going to have to cut those things that give me peace. I think that is a heavy burden for me. I don't know if I am good enough for Christianity. And the truth is that I tell you, heavy burden? Come to Jesus and you will realize. You should have brought the heavy load before, because the one who follows Jesus, his load is light. Freedom, salvation, peace, only the good shepherd can give it to you. Can anyone say amen or no? Now, do you know who is the one who takes away? Do you know who is the one who came to take away?
The thief. It says here that it is the thief Jesus, Jesus said that it is the thief, sorry, the one who came to steal, kill and destroy. Who is that thief? I know who you are trying to tell me, Satan, and I agree with you, but if you are listening well, the thief, according to Jesus, are the false teachers, they are the false shepherds, they are the ones who bring a teaching that is not real, that does not focus on Jesus, it focuses on what you can do for him. Look, this week I had the good fortune to turn 37 years old. Okay, no, no, no, it wasn't for that. Thank you, I appreciate it, but... Okay, if you didn't say happy birthday before, I'm offended, no, no, no, this doesn't make up for it. And having lived 37 times, the planet went around the sun so many times, it allows you to see a lot of things in life, you know? It allows you to learn a lot. And I have seen so many people, and I have grown up with people, whose message they received was always the same, obey, obey, obey, obtuse holiness that is only peripheral, superficial, the glass inside is always rotten, but you have to dress well,
but you have to stop putting on makeup, and long skirt, you know that all those things, the only thing that changes, stop eating certain things, because of the Old Testament, the only thing they have managed to change is the external, but inside there is still death. And to live in a religion, even if your grandmother taught you, God bless her, but to live in a religion that consists only of changing the outside, which is what the false teachers do, which is to try to get along with the rest of the church, that's all it does, it steals you, kills you, and destroys you. I have not met a person who is free living in that religion, even if his name is Christian, even if his name is Cross Church, even if his name is Baptist. It is the religion without relationship that steals you, kills you, and destroys you. I have seen women who are so committed to prayer, but inside their hearts they despise their husbands. I have met men who love to dress well for the church,
but inside their hearts and in their homes they mistreat their children. Let me tell you something, the teaching of the false teachers, that the only thing that matters is the outside, and not the inside, is the only thing that produces destruction. And when your children grow up, they will hate all of this. And it's not the teacher's fault. It's the fault of the teaching crap that Satan used to steal, to kill, and to destroy. Look at me, maybe you are now addicted to saying, I don't want to give myself up, because if I give myself up, he will take things away from me. No, no, no, no, no. Jesus didn't come to ask you to give him things. If you knew who Jesus is, you would ask him, and he would give you water that calms your thirst. Can someone say amen to this? The false teachers and religion take away, but Jesus didn't come to ask you, he came to give you.
He came to give you. And that's not the only thing. I'm getting to the end. The false teachers don't just ask for obedience without having a relationship. They don't just want to take you away instead of giving you, but they also abandon the sheep. But Jesus gives his life for the sheep. In verse 11, Jesus says, I am a good shepherd who gives his life in sacrifice for the sheep. And now he compares this thief, now the image changes a little bit, but he compares the thief with the salaried worker. Do you know who the salaried worker is? It's the one you found on the street saying, hey, I want to work taking care of your sheep. But he only does it for the money. He doesn't care about the sheep. He has no connection with the sheep, and Jesus says, the false teachers, the false shepherds, they don't care a damn what can happen to the sheep, especially in their worst moment. Because when the wolf comes,
Jesus explains, that false teacher, that false teaching, abandons you. It abandons you in the worst moment. In the moment of greatest vulnerability, in the moment when the sheep is feeling full of anxiety, full of fear, full of fear, the false teaching and the false shepherds leave, and they go, because they simply do it for the money or for the relevance that they believe it gives them. Jesus of Nazareth says, In the worst moment of my sheep, I stay there. When the wolf comes, Jesus says, The false teachers protect their own life and give it to the sheep. I protect the sheep and give my own life. Jesus says, I am the one who gives himself and gives his life in sacrifice for each of my sheep. And it is not that the wolf has taken it away from him, because he himself is going to say that he, by his own decision, gave his life for his own. Jesus is not someone who gets discouraged when he sees one of his sheep vulnerable or being attacked by a wolf. I'm going to finish with a story. I was talking to a woman, I was in the hospital, very bad, I couldn't visit her, I think it was during COVID, many years ago. We were texting, and she told me, I'm shaking with fear. Look at me, listen to me. She tells me, I'm shaking with fear. And I tell her, why? And she tells me, because I feel that if I die today, I'm not going to go with the Lord. I feel like I'm going to hell. And I told her, okay. Have you trusted that Jesus sacrificed himself for you? Have you received him in your life as your Savior? And she tells me, yes, I have.
Yes, of course. So I tell her, tell me the same story again. Why are you afraid that you're going to die and go to hell? And do you know what she tells me? I know you've heard it before. She tells me, I'm afraid that my last thought before I die is a sin. And if the last thing I do is a sin, I'm going to hell. Do you know what I told her? You're going to see it on your screen.
Después él te forma, no antes. Vos venís sucio a Jesús, no venís limpio. No, no, no, no. In Jesus' name, sacate eso.
Conocelo. Recibí ese amor. Y después, let's talk about obedience. Jesús vino a darte. Y si hago algo bueno, vuelve a regresar a mí. Ojos cerrados, nadie mirando. Nadie mirando.
Ahora vamos a cantar. Me decís, pastor, no sabría reconocer. I don't know if I qualify for this. No sé si yo califico para esto. No sé si yo soy a good enough sheep.
