Part 4- Teachers of Good Things: Mentorship Through Presence

Welcome back to the Woman of the Word part four. In part one, we spoke about how women are to be reverent in behavior. In part two, we spoke about how women are not to be slanders. And in part three, we talked about walking in freedom from the things that try to master us and how a woman of the word runs to God first before reaching for any substitute. And today, we move into something beautiful because once you are free, you have something worth giving. We are going to talk about mentorship. Once you are free, once you are a woman that has reverence, once you are a woman that does not slander with her words, and once you are a woman that does not allow anxiety to push her into anything else that's for comfort and reaches for comfort for anything else but reaches for Jesus, now you have something for you to give and to mentor others how to do the same things that you're doing. Titus chapter 2 verse 3 to 5 says, The older woman, likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not giving too much wine. And this is the part we're going to be talking about in part four, teachers of good things. And what this means is, is that we are going to be teachers of the beautiful. The Greek word is kalodidas kalos. It is only used one time in all of scripture right here in Titus 2. It means teacher of the beautiful. Literally the only time that that word is being used. Not just teacher of information or doctrine, but teacher of a beautiful way of living. True mentorship is not a curriculum. It is not a lecture series or weekly checking. It is your close-up life. Virtue transfers faster to proximity than it does to vocabulary. Paul is not saying all the women have to be perfect before they can pour into younger women.

He is saying they should be present. Again, I spoke about this in part one. Paul is not talking about only women in age. Not that a woman that's 60 years old, because I give you the example of a woman who's 60 years old, a woman who's 30 years old. A woman who's 60 years old might not know how to be a woman of the word, but the woman who's 30 years old does because God has been teaching her. Well, this woman is not older in age numerically, but she's older in age spiritually. Paul is saying that they should be present. Younger woman, watch how you handle pressure. Let them see how you pray through hard days. Let them see grace in motion, even when things are hard. That's what Paul is talking about. A woman who can teach other women how to handle pressure with grace. Show women how they handle pressure, how they handle a time that's hard. And they're not just folding, right? Because they have God. Because remember in part three, you weren't reaching for other things for comfort. You were reaching for God. So when you reach for God for comfort, you are able to handle pressure the right way because you're reaching for God. A woman of the word is a living syllabus of God's goodness. Her life is the textbook. Your life is literally the textbook for everybody, for every other woman who does not know how to be a woman of the word. Think about Naomi and Ruth in the book of Ruth. Chapter one. In chapter one, Naomi had lost everything, her husband, her sons, her home. She was in her own grief. She was not trying to run a mentorship program, but something about the way she lived, even

in her pain was so real that Ruth refused to leave her. Naomi lost everything, everything. But even the way that she endured it, the way she took it, imagine losing your husband and your children, your husband and your sons, and you're just going back to your hometown and you want to give glory to God. And because of that, Ruth decided that she wanted to leave everything. Ruth chapter one, verse 16 says, entreat me not to leave you or to turn back from following after you. For wherever you go, I will go. And wherever you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people and your God, my God. Ruth did not need to be convinced. She was drawn. That is what a calo de das calos does. Her life pulls people in without her even trying to do it. You don't have to try. As soon as someone sees the type of woman that you are, the way you give reverence to God, the way you don't slander other people, the way when you are anxious, you reach for God and you don't reach for other things. That alone teaches calo de das calos. Teachers of the beautiful. You start teaching people the beautiful. You don't start teaching doctrine. The Bible says in the Bible, yes, you can use the word, but we don't want to be religious and just use the word, but we're not walking in it. We don't want to be a hearer of the word and not a doer of the word. And this is what's teaching you, woman of the word, how to be just that a woman who follows the word, not just reads the word, but actually does what the word of God says right in this scripture. Inside is chapter two, verse three to five.

We have too many women. And in the body of Christ, who are teaching things, not from a way of where God wants them to teach, they're teaching other things. We are here to teach the younger woman, the younger generation. So many women wanna be influencers, and it's not a problem to be a woman influencer. It's not a problem to be a mentor. It's not a problem to teach other women. But if you are not getting the depths of what it means to be a woman of the word, what are you really teaching these women? What are you really showing them? How to be a woman of the world in the body of Christ, or how to be a woman of the word to teach the woman of the world that woman of the word is reverent in behavior, that a woman of the word does not slander, does not gossip or praise names instead, that a woman of the word reaches for Jesus, for comfort, not social media, not other people, but Jesus Christ, and that a woman of the word knows how to teach the beautiful, because when she goes through hardship, she knows how to handle that hardship the right way. She doesn't fold. She gives glory to God. And when people see you go through a hard trial, go through something that's difficult,

and you're still worshiping Jesus, you're still raising your hand, you're still giving him glory, it draws people nearer to you without you even needing to try. It draws people to you, it draws other women to you, and you knowing that all the glory goes back to God anyways, you don't care about all the attention that you're getting, you just care about being a woman of the word. And a woman who does this lets younger women watch her handle pressure with grace. Her process is as open as her highlight reel, because she knows that's where the real mentorship happens. You don't just act like one way, and your highlight reel is so good, but yet you're not acting the same way that your highlight reel is showing, right? You wanna show exactly what you're going through. And a woman who doesn't do this demands respect while modeling chaos. She keeps the polished version of herself public and hides her process, so younger women only see a performance, not a life. You don't want younger women to see a performance. So many people, they're teaching women, and people who are women who are in the body of Christ, who are mentors in the body of Christ, they're saved, but they are not teaching the beautiful. They are not actually showing the younger woman that they want to disciple on social media or wherever

what it truly means to handle pressure with grace, what it truly means to have a process that they're going through and be real about that process, but they show them the things that they think the world needs to see instead of showing them the real part of what it means to be a woman of the word. And I want you to take this question. Would someone want your peace if they truly saw your process? If someone right now did not know anything that was going on in your life, saw you, would they want the peace that you have? And then finding out what you're going through and then being shocked, oh my goodness, I did not know you were going through this because you had so much peace over you. And I want to pray for you. Lord, make every single viewer's daily life a living syllable of your goodness, a living syllabus, Lord, of your goodness. Give them courage, courage, Lord God, for them to be able to say, watch me, without pretending that they have it all together, Jesus, but that they can actually have it all together because of you. Help them be present with the woman you have placed around them, Lord, just like Naomi was present with Ruth. Let them see, Lord God,
