Part 1- Reverent In Behavior

Welcome everyone to the woman of the word course today I want to dive into the scriptures and just talk to you guys about what it means to be a woman of the word We're going to be diving into titus chapter 2 verse 3 to 5 And we're going to go detail by detail to talk about what it truly means to be a woman of the word So many of us have come from the world and all we know is how to be a woman of the world But the lord has given us scripture for us to really rely on for us to really use To help shape us into becoming a woman of the word Exactly the way that he shaped us to be the way that he created us to be and a woman of the word Is found in titus chapter 2 verse 3 to 5 and first I want to go through the scripture so that you guys know exactly What we're looking for as a woman of the word how we're supposed to look as a woman of the word a woman of the word Talks different a woman of the word acts different a woman of the word thinks different a woman of the word embodies Jesus embodies exactly who jesus is through the help of the holy spirit So before I begin, I just want to pray so father in the name of jesus lord I just thank you for this teaching. I thank you that every single woman That is watching this course lord is eager to learn how to be like you how to walk like you How to be a woman of your own word. So holy spirit have your way with this teaching in jesus name Amen, so the scripture says in titus chapter 2 verse 3 to 5 the older women Likewise that they be reverent in behavior not slanderers not giving too much wine teachers of good things That they admonish to young women to love their husbands to love their children to be discreet chase Homemakers good obedience to their own husbands that the word of god may not be blasphemed And that was a mouthful, right? So we're gonna go through One by one what these things mean and right now in part one We're gonna go over what the older woman likewise being being reverent in behavior means And you know, I just wanted to give you just context This is paul teaching the woman in titus just teaching about how they're supposed to be not just a woman He was just teaching them how to be woman of the word teaching every single Person that was part of that church how to be a new convert basically and so paul is just Showing us what it means to be a woman of the word and we're talking about being reverent in behavior

And what that means is it's just the first quality that paul is calling women to walk in paul is calling women to walk in Reverence reverence isn't just something you do at church on sunday. It is a posture of the heart It is what happens when a woman truly knows that god is always present with her not to judge her but because he never leaves her because god says he'll never leave you nor forsake you and so when you are Walking with a posture of reverence to god You have an awareness that god is always watching you because it's always with you I want to talk about the greek word for reverence. It's heriopropis It literally means fitting for the sacred paul is saying your life your home your conversations your tone your silence All of it should carry the weight of someone who lives close to god This is not about being stiff or overly religious It is about carrying a quiet peace that makes people feel safe when they are around you. You should carry a quiet All a reverence you should carry a peace with you because you know that god's watching you Reverence is when you know, you're doing the laundry You know that god is watching you when you're cooking for your family God is watching you when you're driving down the street. God is watching you even Even if someone is driving behind you and they're tailgating you or someone cuts you off What do you do in that situation or you're at the mall and you bump into a person accidentally? What do you do or when you're talking to someone and you see that they might not be? Reverencing god in a certain way. What do you do reverence is not performance It is just the way that you are because you have the holy spirit who lives inside of you and the holy spirit reverences god very very highly and because you're a woman who has the holy spirit within you you reverence god in Everything that you do the way you talk the way you dress the way you walk Whatever you do the things that you watch the things that you listen to is given a reverence to god Reverence is an overflow of a heart that is anchored in the presence of god when your heart is anchored in the presence of god It's overflow. You're overflowing with his presence You're overflowing with everything that he is everything that he embodies and a perfect example of this is mary and martha We see this in luke chapter 10 verse 38 to 42 when jesus came into their home martha was running around distracted Anxious doing all the things but mary sat at his feet and listened Mary sat at his feet and Martha complained to Jesus and Jesus is Teaching Mary's at his feet and Martha saying Jesus

Mary's not doing anything and I'm over here trying to serve you and Jesus This is what Jesus answered Martha Martha. You were worried and troubled about many things But one thing is needed and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken from her That's what Jesus told Mary. This is what Jesus is telling us today as a woman I know that it's sometimes hard for us to just sit quietly at the feet of Jesus for us to just not think about The laundry that needs to be done the clothes that needs to be that needs to be folded Not think about the dinner that needs to be cooking. I think about our children I think about the activities that our children needs to do not think about all these things But God is saying I don't want you to be a Martha I want you to be a Mary and remember that there's so many things that you could worry about but choose that one Thing that Mary chose was to be at the feet of Jesus So when you're outside choose that one thing that reverence for Jesus choose that one thing While you're cooking worship while you're cleaning Worship while you're doing the laundry listen to a sermon These are the things that the Lord wants us to do as a woman of the word because Luke chapter 10 verse 42 says but one thing is needed and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken from her There was one thing Mary's posture was reverence She chose the holy thing when everything around her was demanding the busy thing Martha was running around Asking why is Mary not doing what she's supposed to do wondering why Mary is not cleaning and Mary is saying I'm not going to Focus on these things. I'm focusing on my Savior and she just had that revelation She just knew every single thing that he was talking about and that he was teaching I need to be at his feet She had a reverence for the Lord her heart posture was I'm a reverence you knew Lord you came into this home Now it's not the time for me to worry about the dishes for me to worry about cooking for me to worry about Cleaning for me to worry about all these other things that I worry about now It's a time for me to just stand still and pause and listen to what you're saying too many times We see this in the world women are just so busy Moving so fast always moving from one place to the next moving so fast and I'm not saying there's anything wrong

We're being a woman who wants to get things done but no one is time for you to have that reverence for the Lord to be like Mary and Be that woman of the word because you're no longer in the world So when you're in your home, you want to be a woman as reverence for Jesus and a woman who does this she moves Slowly enough for peace to catch up with her people feel safe around her because she carries the presence of God wherever she goes Imagine you carry the presence of God Wherever you go you go to the grocery store and you carry the presence of God you go to the laundromat You carry the presence of God you go to your daughter's ballet class. You carry the presence of God You go to your son's basketball game. You carry the presence of God that when you walk into a room Everyone's eyes is on you not because you're pretty or you're beautiful But because they can feel that tangible presence of God on you because they can see that quiet Ah, they can see that reverence that you carry within you as a woman of the word a woman of the word Especially when you dress with reverence for the Lord when you're when you're when your figure is covered when your body parts your female body parts Are covered the reason why they're staring at you is not because you know, your booty's hanging now It's not because your breasts is all out. It's because you're carrying the presence of the Lord wherever you go and they don't Understand why they're so drawn to you, but you know, it's because deep inside
